Ppl have complained about DH for years without seeing that 4 survivors with SB is exactly the same.
Devs nerf DH but doesn't touch SB or Lithe... those perks need to be nerfed to the ground.
SWFs abuse them + communication = survivors are 50 meters away from you before even seeing you.

They’ll figure it out, it’s their job after all. First things first is releasing a fun killer! It’s been a while lol
I do not think they will, i cannot deny that the game has improved for 1 year but they are far from achieving a proper balance state.
Both sides are using broken mechanics to get easy win.
Killers are camping/tunneling, using one shot add ons if possible etc... before that they spammed the kick gen META when it was OP etc...
Survivors are spamming syringue, antiseptic add-ons, BNP with Resilience, Prove Tyself, Adrenaline etc... before that they spammed DH...
Well it is a never ending story till the devs realise that perks are too strong. 10% boost on gen speed with a perk is bullshit and totally shift the balance of the game, for exemple. All those rate should be 2% max, on both sides.
Perks should slightly change the outcome of a trial but for now they are completely changing the gameplay. If you have those 4 perks you can win, if not you loose, against the same killer on the same map.

I agree that COB should keep higher regression BUT should have the info removed to encourage people to couple it with surveillance and not other op gen regress perks as we’ve seen that heavily abused before.
I agree that COB + surcharge were way too strong, the regression rate was too big but devs have been too heavy on the nerf.
Also devs are basing all their changes on the kill rate stat... which is terrible as it is inflated by tunneler/camper. So they think killers get 55/60% kill rate while in reality, killers that do not camp/tunnel might have a kill rate of 35/40% (above average players).
When i'm looking on Twitch, there are pretty much no killer players anymore... it means a lot, the role is too stressfull and the game is way too unbalanced.
Prior to this patch i had mostly good games on both sides, it doesn't mean i was winning all the time but i had fun almost all the time. With 6.7.0, as a survivor it is a tunneling fest (and i understand why) and as a killer i face gen rush META S.W.A.T players...
It is mostly not fun at all.

I do play killer, and I've never had to rely on meta regression perks. I literally never used CoB, OC or PR, so these nerfs have zero affect on me as a killer. Meanwhile survivors are less efficient at healing. Bonus.
Stop being a meta slave and maybe the world won't end every time they inevitably nerf the most powerful meta perks.
I'm wondering the level you play at cause thinking you can win games against good survivors without camping/tunneling nor regression perks... is out of my understanding capabilities.
Can you end a chase in less than 2 minutes with a M1 killer against good survivors ? No, so what are you talking about ?

@Seraphor said:

But it is absolutely the case with healing nerfs. Survivors have less chance to recover from your attacks, which makes directly pressuring survivors off gens (as opposed to say indirectly pressuring gens via Pain Res and camping) much more effective.
A good survivor doesn't need to be healed to hold a chase for 30 to 45 seconds against most killers.
At high MMR they never heal and use resilience to boost the gen rush. They also use adrenaline to get a free heal when all gens are done. Pair this with communication (if SWF) and they can leave the generator they work on 10 to 15 seconds BEFORE the killer is there, drawing huge distances, enough that the killer needs 20 seconds to catch up.
Only noobs are looking for heal every time they are injured.
When a gen can be done in 40 seconds and when there are 15 safe pallets per map, the pressure is against the killer, not the survivors.
Survivors have so many tools to be invincible... Play killer, you will see it by yourself.

I get there is a time and a place for camping/tunneling. Particularity against tough teams, comp and just those games where gens are flying and there’s no other option. It has its place I’m just hoping there’s be a way to discourage people from easily doing it right from the start or circumstances where it doesn’t call for it because it might sound petty but outside of those specific situations it just sucks to see. No skill, no fun. Borderline exploity.
There is, patrolling and defending gens must be more efficient than camping/tunneling.
It is not the case anymore with the huge regression perks nerf.
If you play a killer that cannot, power wise, end chases in less than 30 seconds, the game is a guaranteed loss if you do not camp/tunnel the 1st survivor out of the game.

Playing against an aggressive swf team isn’t the situation where camping and tunnelling is a huge problem though. I’m sure they would actually expect you to do so if they’re playing that way. Comp-like style.
There needs to be a way to disincentive ‘lazy’ killers who are just looking for an easy win or just ensure others have a miserable time.
Suggestions:
Camping - All killers powers can’t proc around a radius of a hooked survivor. Not just certain ones like dredge or artist. It’s currently really inconsistent for some reason?
Tunneling - If there are at least 3 survivors in match, no blood points are given if the same person is hooked twice in a row.
Something like that.
Pretty much all killers of the roster cannot win a game without camping/tunneling at a good MMR.
You do not even see how OP the survivors still are...

That's kind of semantics. A lot of the skill gap in this game is knowledge and game sense. Try the check spots out and get back to me. They're not nearly as fool-proof as they seem.
They are in most jungle gym.
Sure it is not a 100% success rate but good enough to get 4 escapes every games... against all tier B killers.

The entire game is knowledge based more than anything else. Very few things in the game require actual skill. Maybe really advanced blight or hillbilly gameplay but beyond that...
As it is not based on skill, in a game where everyone have the knowledge, survivors will win 90% of the times against most killers.
It is a problem for the competitiveness of the game. If the game and the matchmaking were casual, it would barely be a problem, unless against SWFs.
But the fact is BHVR tends to make this game as competitive as possible in an environment (game design) that is not suited for competitiveness...
DbD was better prior to the MMR system.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Not really. Those check spots are the skill gap. Advanced survivors use them and advanced killers know where the check spots are and how to play around them. Average survivors have no concept of camera positioning and average killers will try to moonwalk through a check spot instead of a sight blocker. I've seen 2000 hr Wraiths try to moonwalk a low wall tile. Eliminating check spots won't help players like that.
That is not a skill gap, that is just a knowledge gap...
Skill is when it requires you to be able to perform something, looking through a hole in a wall doesn't require any skill.
Moreover, those checkspots are on most maps and in most jungle gym, you cannot play around them unless you play with the few anti-loop killers.

You are right about the screen shot, I can post any screen shot and tell a little unconfirmed narrative to illustrate my point.
But you are wrong about the Trapper. It’s perfectly possible to kill even a coordinated swf without camping in tunneling. Get better at setting up your traps.
That said… camping and tunnelling are just tactics you can use as killer and there is nothing wrong with using them if you like.
The kind of survivors i play against are those that play with Otzdarva in private matches... They are the survivors in the video Knight vs SM... just faced them today...
I do not think you can beat them with a trapper xD

@Ayodam said:
Looks like your entire build is centered around Gen defense instead of chase & perks that capitalize on the healing nerf. Maybe that was the problem. Tbh, if you’d hooked one survivor and proxy camped till they reached 2nd hook, you could have pretty easily snowballed that match.
I have never camped/tunneled before, unless during the end phase.
The problems against survivors is that good survivors know everything about the game and can extend chases far too long against most killers.
Just the checkspots knowledge kick out 80% of the roster from the viable killer list.

By relying on things that gave you wins that you shouldnt have gotten?
You mean now that it is my fault if the devs have suddenly decided to buff the genrush META while nerfing the gen regression META at the same time ?
They change the rules and the pace of the game but it is my fault ? Your mindset is priceless.
Now show us your Clown against survivors with 3k hours to see how you win this :)

4 prove thyselfs are a bit of a waste though, they don't stack. Also, how can you tell me your calculation for the 35sec when both survs have pt and resilience?
2 injured surv + PT + Resilience = 2x 0,98 x 1,09 individual = 2,136 c/s
1 gen = 42 seconds
Did not do the maths before but still 10 seconds faster than 2 survivors without those perks and 42 seconds is still around one chase.
-
@LuthirFontaine said:
Hmm what if they changed prove thyself to start off with 0 and get better as the gens get done. This being because it's needed to break up a 3 gen but gives the killer less pressure at the beginning of the game?
At this point changing perks won't do much, just shifting the balance way too much on one side or the other.
The game's basic features are so broken that nerfing 2 perks shift the balance completely on one side. This mean that the game relies on perks to be played instead of on the overall game design which is : killer/survivors design, map design.
Devs should work on this aspect.
Perks have taken way too much importance in the game cause many of them are way too strong.
I mean they have nerfed regression perks and the game is now unplayable for most killers without tunneling... Devs are using perks as band-aid to compensate a broken game design...

the man-seconds to repair 5 gens stays the same = not faster
With PT you repair the gen in 46 seconds, without it it's 52 seconds, it is faster... I dunno what is your argument by saying it removes the multiples survivors penalty. If it removes the penalty then the gen goes faster...
-
@Dbdfan398 said:
Im not exactly sure what they expect killers to do now?
People are still healing fast, we've lost pretty much all regression, and gens are still flying.
My survivor games have been so easy, my killer ones have gotten much harder.
I have tried many builds.
- gen regression build -> pretty much useless now unless with the knight (i do not play SM but i think strong with her too)
- anti-heal build -> useless, many survivors use We'll make it, Inner healing, second wind and Adrenaline + medkit with syringue
- 3 gening, well not effective at all especially because the 4 first gens are done really really fast
- hit & run -> if they have resilience, it screws your game
At the beginning of the trial, the survivors have the edge because all pallets are on the map. By the end game, most pallets should be destroyed but for this, a trial needs to last at least 10 minutes.
When all gens are done in 5 minutes... you have been able to do 3 chases and many pallets are still available, unless you tunneled one survivor right at the start.
I do not see how tier B killers can be effective now, there is nothing that works. I was maining Billy 1 year ago, i do not even imagine how weak he might be now 😂
-
Well when all gens are done in less than 5 minutes, what is your advice for the m1 killers to try toi win ? What is the only viable strategy now ? removing one survivor asap

Does that not… make gens repair faster?…
Don't revelate !
And my previous message has an error, if both survivors are injured, have PT and Resilience equipped, the gen is done in 35 seconds, time for a hase against an injured survivor with a m1 killer.
So nothing is effective anymore, on the killer side.

I'm sorry but prove thyself dont makes gen repairs faster, it just removes the efficiency penalty for multible survivors on one gen (and not even that completely).
Wow i'm amazed by this comment. It removes the efficiency penalty for multiple persons.
So 2 on a gen without prove = 52 seconds to do a gen
Same with prove thyself = 46 seconds
But 6 seconds less is not faster for you, i guess it is then slower right ?

To what end?
BHVR has the actual data for ALL games played, they aren't going to be fooled by a 3rd parties sample. They know exactly who does what.
They aren't going to stop and say "Maybe our perfect knowledge via being the developer is somehow flawed compared to some other guys website data..." What's the point of "faking" anything?
"perfect knowledge" indeed, we have got the proof of this perfection with the last patches 😂
-
This is completely out of control now, all gens done in less than 5 minutes... i'm sorry but it is totally unplayable.
Killers have no choice, they have to camp/tunnel or else it is a guaranteed loss.
Survivors have so much tools that they do not need to heal anymore. The gen rush is so huge that why would you need to heal yourself ? With resilience and prove thyself, 5 gens just fly in 4 minutes.
With 20 pallets/windows per map + some semi-infinite spots when you combined a window/pallet, even when injured you can still get a 40 seconds chase...
The current state is completely awful.
With 2 survivors equipped with Resilience + Prove Thyself, how long does it take to do a gen ? It is a global 24% speed boost in repairing a gen for each survivor, you can repair it in around 45 seconds i guess.
It is bullshit.
- Gen regression doesn't work
- Hit & run works against the killer
- Slug doesn't work
The devs nerf to the ground gen regression cause it was too fast, don't you see, 250 seconds for a gen to regress totally, it is OP but doing a gen in 45 seconds is completely ok...

This is the most negative I have ever seen both sides be at the same time.
Ive never seen so many big streamers playing other games, even the fogwhispers are bored.
Dont add a killer this anniversary, add a new mode like 8v2. Not long after the new killer is added people will be bored again even if theyre really good ( look at wesker ) you need new MODES
Not a meta shakeup. Not a killer / survivor. Not a new mechanic.
We need modes or complete shakeups.
I disagree for a new mode, it will just split the community and kill the game even more. All games that have done this, with a low playerbase peak, have hurt their playerbase badly.
BHVR just needs to balance the game outside of perks :
- balance maps
- balance jungle gym
- balance killers
- nerf all perks to the ground : perks should be used to add some flavor to the general gameplay, not shift the complete balance of the game
That is what they should do with the streamers' help

Did you really think they were going to stop tunneling and camp when the devs did what they asked?
I do not think it is the killers' fault.
I play both sides and both sides is often a terrible experience.
As a killer, the gen rush is insane now and i understand why killers feel forced to tunnel... right at the start. As i do not want to play dirty, i loose my games in an unfun way 😐️
As a survivor, i see tunneler games after games and yes it is not fun. 😐️
That is the devs' job to fix all those problems, if players are given an option to win easily by using broken mechanics, most of them will not hesitate one second.

Will you post this screenshot everywhere ? Don't you understand it doesn't mean anything, no one know your MMR so out of context a random screenshot, means nothing...

Were that the case then every match at high level would be a 4 man escape. It's not, so exhaustion perks are not a problem that needs looking at.
It is not cause high MMR is not SWF and the MMR range goes from 1600 to 3000 :)
So high MMR does not mean anything. Fact is a good killer cannot win against a good SWF when there is no perks/items restriction.
Kill rate in tournaments is not that good while there are forbidden perks, unique perk usage and unique item usage without add-ons and still the survivors have the upper head.
And the stats do not mean anything as the kill rate is inflated by hard tunnelers.
-
@Nazzzak said:
I would imagine that if you are losing often (what do you consider losing though - there are some players who consider anything less than a 4k a "loss") then eventually you *should* realistically settle somewhere comfortable MMR wise. There would still be outlier games, such as when other killers dodge teams and queue times prioritise chucking someone less experienced in as backfill, but that shouldn't be happening all the time. This is what one of the devs said regarding how MMR works in the game, if it helps!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/D6TLJUMCWXWM/screenshot-20230418-110255-chrome.jpg
As a killer you are solo playing, you cannot rely on others to win games and so you cannot be PL to a higher MMR.
If the system was working, i should not experience this loosing streak facing good teams other and other again, especially with low tier killers.
I did not choose the MMR i'm at, that's the gae system that puts me there

Honestly, those survivors were surely terrible, no way you can win with a trapper and those add-ons against good players. The survivors i face have around 2k/3k hours into DbD, i know it doesn't mean much but they are experienced players.
-
I would remove all the perks and create perks that do not change the overall aspect of the game or the balance of it.
It means perks that cannot be META, exactly as VHS did with the weapons or monster's perks, they just give some flavor without changing/breaking the gameplay.
Same for the items, no self heal allowed, only healing others but a little faster or with less skill check etc...
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
They're not a problem. They function as really a once-a-chase aid against a killer, which also benefits from a faster base speed (except Nurse, although she easily compensates for that), bloodlust, perks, their powers and unique add-ons which may also grant speed increases or slowdown.
If survivors no longer had exhaustion perks, killers would become overwhelming and some even will have no weaknesses a survivor may gain an upper hand with.
Finally, every match I have as a killer has exhaustion perks. If they were that much of a problem, I'd be losing every single trial. There are plenty of counters and plays throughout the trial, which cannot be won on the basis a survivor used Lithe once through a vault.
A chase is won once it lasts around 1 minute... so basically every chase at high level.

Hillbilly player currently, on the UK servers here. Trials have been working better than usual. Gens are a little quicker, but not ridiculously so. Matches I've won feel earned and trials I lose I can put down to either being outplayed or making mistakes. I also play with randomised builds every trial, so maybe I've been used to relying more on playstyle than perks, so if anything this feels better.
However, although I can't empathise with your scenario, I do feel maybe the matchmaking is a little skewed? My penultimate trial today featured my Hillbilly with 2 perks (one I think was Septic Touch) versus 3×100P and 1×87P survivors, which went about as well as expected and was happy to get 4 hooks honestly! Still a fun trial though and got some helpful experience.
Basically, might matchmaking be off for you? Otherwise, it's more a case of adapting and what helps me is aiming for hooks and hinting over kills. Ironically, I tend to kill way more with that mentality than I did when trying to secure kills.
Ye i'm not the best killer, i have played survivors way more since 2017 but i guess i'm too strong to be at an average MMR, too weak to compete in good MMR 😂
SO the experience is awfull.

The best strategy for me has been to play only in a zone of 4 gens right at the start with Call of a Brine, Overcharge and Sloppy. By end game, all pallets are destroyed in the zone and chases are easier.
That is the only way i can slow down gens enough to win games without tunneling.

Dead hard change was needed. The healing nerfs were only too much for altruistic healing, which they fixed by basically making personal healing slow. They nerfed 3 genning. Why are you mad again?
They have nerfed the complete killer's gen control capability.
By nerfing 3 gens, they made it easy for the survivors to finish the last gen and escape but they also nerfed the control the killer has on the generators.
Now the killer cannot apply pressure without camping/tunneling.
All the games i have won as killer (other the nurse and blight) have been with the camp/tunnel strategy.
Against good survivors, 3 gens are done by the end of the 1st chase.
2nd gen is done during the 2nd chase.
So you have 2 to 3 hooks and there is one gen left... at this point, only nurse can win.
The gen pressure should be on the killer side, not on the survivor's side. There are 4 survivors, it is their job to organize their team to complete the gens despite the killer's pressure.
ATM that is the survivor that applies pressure on the killer that has to prevent the gen to be done, against 4 survivors, while it doesn't not have the tools to do it.

Also, i think a killers movement speed have a lot to do here, all the fast moving killers are doing good. Because they have more time to spare. if they can patrol gens in 20 secs where a normal killer uses 30 secs. Thats 10 secs of repair time and 40 secs of gen regression. This is a lot, when you think about a gen takes 90 secs to solo (and 360 secs to regress), with out any tools or perks.
There are many things broken in the game.
First and foremost, the game has been designed around this idea : the killer has to capitalize on survivors' mistakes, if there is no mistake, the killer cannot win.
If you are kind of aware about what game design is, just look at how DbD killers' powers are designed.
Let's take 2 exemples : Billy and Wesker.
Those killers cannot outplay a good survivor in chase; why ?
- the slowdown applied to their movement speed during the power charge
- once released, the time you need to reach the other side of the loop and curve
Those two points combined make it impossible to catch a survivor around a loop if this survivor doesn't do a mistake. Try it with a friend, loop around a safe loop and try to catch your friend with your power, you will succeed 1 time out of 20 if your friend is good enough.
So the devs have designed the game this way, what can you do ? Loop with M1, wait for the pallet to drop, break the pallet, repeat.
There are 12 to 20 pallets on each map.
The gamee could have been designed around "the survivor has to use the pallet at the right time" or "the survivor has to dodge the power and then loop again" but it is not the case.
The mistakes come from the pallets RNG where some survivors will lost themselves during the chase but you know what, Windows of opportuny has been created by the devs, the majority of the players use it and it negates completely the possible mistakes they would do. You go from 50% chances they do a mistake to 10% chances.
That is why a good SWF will win 99% of their trials, cause the game design does not allow the killer to win. That is also why survivor mains hate the Blight and the Nurse cause in this case, those killers are outside of the overall DbD's game design...

The idea behind separating swf and soloq is that you can balance it. So in soloq killers would be less powerful and in swf more powerful. So you will have a way to balance the information aspect from swf etc.
normal mode is just ffa. It would be dbd before sbmm. All addons and items allowed etc. so yeah an swf can come and destroy you, but they will more likely be in the sweat swfq to push rating. This mode is more meant to be a casual messing around experience. This games will exist, it would be much less than before probably.
Don’t get me wrong. This solution is not perfect either, but I think it’s better compared to what we have now. And it’s just the “competitive road” they were starting to walk along.
So this is just an idea to make this game more enjoyable for casuals and soloq players. also for killers who can choose what experience they want to have.
for me as a killer main I can say that I like to face strong swf teams. But not 90% of my games in the evening. Sometimes I just wanna mess around or try sth new. But sadly there is no possibility to do that. Not sure where mmr brought you or the others here, but it’s kinda exhausting to sweat the … out of every game. And I think this is not sth only I want or only killers want. Sometimes you just wanna play for fun, but actually there is only ranked q with a very big amplitude of outcome.
I'm mostly matched against trioQ/SWFs, all from the same country or with something in the nickname shwoing they play together.
It is exhausting when it is every game with every killer, especially because i cannot do anything against such a team with The Onryo, a killer that i like a lot.
Some killers have a power good enough that you can win in a 5-7 minutes trial (time to do all gens) but other killers do not and so it is a guaranteed loss...

It is getting review bombed because the community is bored of what BHVR does with the game and it is legit.
It has been 7 years and we still have the following problems that has been in the game since pretty much the start :
- unbalanced maps
- unbalanced loop forcing you to equip some perks for M1 killers
- DH too strong for YEARS
- Toolboxes too strong
- SWF still way too OP
- Weird nerf choices balancing the game around bad players and so breaking the game at higher level
- and so on...
Sure BHVR has improved the game the last couple of years but they are far from what the community is expecting.
Just look at the last patch, what is this for a full META gen rush ? It is boring, gens are flying and if as a killer you want to win, you have to tunnel and play dirty, that is the only viable option now.
Where is the fun ?
The previous patch had its flaw (regression too powerfull, Dh too strong) but the trials i had were way better on both sides.

Urgh, and another queue time discussion where everyone goes "no for me it's different..." And NO ONE includes the necessary info for comparability like region, time of day and platform. 😑
That really should be a forum rule for this topic. All this anecdotal "but for me..." out of context is so pointless.
You are right,

They could also negotiate some terms with Netflix to get the chapter back to life... and the map aswell.

Thank you for proving how toxic this community is and reminding me why I would rather spend my money on other games.
Every multiplayer communities are toxic unfortunately...
The main problem with DbD is that some perks invite players to be toxic and adds up to the general toxicity of the players.

BHVR has tried to fix the unbalance issue by reworking/buffing/nerfing perks but i think it is not enough.
They must dive into map rebalancing, the last map reworks show they have a lack of knowledge on how to balance a map...
They also have to work some more on the tunneling issue.
I'm playing both sides and i agree that mass tunneling is really really annoying.

I don't understand why the SM is still not disabled from the killer roster till they fix it...
It is unplayable... her 3 gens is way too strong and it is literally impossible to do those gens...
The killer is game-breaking, remove it, fix it and reintroduce it...
-
Most killer mains have complained for years for the second chance perks to be nerfed.
Now that they are nerfed and not used, most killer mains are tunneling from the 1st minute.
So what do we do now ?

Ye tunneling first hook is back and it affects most games today.
Yesterday was a better experience for me, this evening (EU time), the tunnel is unbearable.
Devs have thought that nerfing self-heal would be enough to mitigate the regression nerfs but it only affects soloQ players and barely does anything for SWF...
They will fix it but we will need to play with the curretn state of the game for 3 months now...
Today the whole day was 100% bp bonus on survivors in EU, even now it is still 100% for survivors which is never the case at this hour of the day.

I mean I've finished the rpd escape achievement.
It's a good map to run a killer for a while on chase. Lots of strong loops, pallets and good vaults.
Yes i agree but it is also one of the worst map if you get tunneled, there is no way out of it.
