Because, unless they changed something recently, you can't see your own ping in the lobby anymore. :(
I think people should have the opportunity to know what their ping is before they load into the match, but once they know I think it should be their choice rather than the game blocking them.
There can still appear a red ping bar as an indicator, if you don't see it everthing should be OKAY. You can see it next to surv names if one of them has a bad ping to the server. Or right next to the lobby countdown if you as surv or killer have a bad connection to the server. It seems to mostly happen at prime time, when a certain role needs a bigger playerpool and you get connected to a server which is more far away from your location. And it seems most players just forgot about it, hit ready anyway, only to complain/DC later.
I treat red pings same as we had peer-to-peer back than in DBD. If i have it or i see survs with it i back out and search for another game. But beyond that i agree, we should be able to see all pings again, in the lobby AND during the match. You can check them ingame, but not the killers ping for some reason. And we need more and better spreaded servers. Just look at russian players. The closest server for them is still located in FRANKFURT, Germany.
-
DCs are the problem, not Blight. Sure, hug tech and certain addons need to be looked at, but overall i still enjoy versing Blight. And i don't even use excaution perks most of the time. Best thing about Blight players is, most of them are going for many, many hooks. And hopefully this won't change with more gen defense perk nerfes.
-
Counter question: Why do players hit ready when they have a red ping?
-
All it needs is them versing a really good killer and good survs, i would love to see an event like this. Not a friendly match were everyone is just goofing around like they used to do. Doesn't need to be a tournament, but both sides should really want to win with no restriction on loadouts. They could do that on their twitch channel. I really think it could open their eyes when they would play against actually skilled players. And having a conversation after each match.
-
For surv it doesn't really matter, i saw gods using a controller - 100% sensitivity is fine. For killer sure, in particular technical killers (huntress, trickster, nurse, blight, etc.) are way easier to learn/master with M&K. It's still possible, but it takes much longer on console.
Also you won't get stable 60fps, even not on PS5 and XSX. And consoles STILL don't have any ingame graphic options or brightness settings. Which i wouldn't care about as it's intended, it's just a bit unfair with crossplay on. And it's still way to overcomplicated to report players with screenshots or clips when you're on console.
For me the biggest advantage console players have is the fact, that there's no ingame chat. LoL.
-
As ppl mentioned, NOED already got a lil nerf. I used to run totem builds with Inner Healing. A lot. But with the release of CoH, the fear of penti builds and the need to push gens, doing totems can really hurt your team, sadly. And still i think NOED is fine. If anything, it's just really bad for the stats. Killer tunnel, camp and kill 1 surv and a second or even third one with NOED. And all BHVRs sees is 2-3 kills and thinks everthing is OKAY.

Still blaming MMR for everything you don't like, heh? As if DH wasn't already omnipresent before the implementation of MMR, lol.
MMR was the biggest mistake they made so far, yes. Just because each MMR bracket still has the same game foundation and balance. Guess what happens when you put MMR in a party game which is balanced around bad - average players.

That primarily, and because when so many people are running the same perks, it forces similar tactics, and games start to feel like a skipping record. Having games constantly playing out the same way is really boring, and takes a lot of the fun out of the game.
Mixing up the meta is very much a good thing, and while it causes short term discomfort for some (as people are forced to change a bit), it ultimately keeps the game feeling somewhat fresh.
Doesn't change the fact that ppl will always find a new meta to compete. MMR is a fun sponge in most multiplayer games, even more in DBD, the only party game with MMR i know. Would be ok if MMR brackets would be balanced differently, but i don't see that comming.
-
Maybe he versed a toxic SWFs before you, who knows. Us solos need to pay for that sometimes.
Anyway, i don't think one bad game is worth a forum post. Just move on to the next one and forget about it.
-
Or in short: MMR forces meta and ppl feel even more they have to use the strongest perks to compete.
-
I like how again no one mentions Inner Healing. Good, that's 5 potential quick heals for me.
-
It's just for survs who like to play the game with music. And god tx it's optional, i won't use that anyway.
DBD needs more ingame options for sounds, graphics/performance mode, brightness, FOV. Remember, we don't have any of that on consoles. Wasn't really thought through well when they added crossplay.
-
Title should say "i" instead of "we". Idc, as long it's optional.
-
Inner Healing will be back! No need to mind about boons anymore and just pray the killer doesn't use penti. (solo)
-
I've stacked ~10mio BPs at this point, just because i wanted to play the game.
Spending bloodpoints was always the most boring thing in DBD for me and i was so happy to read about this. No idea why it took them so long. It's optional, good for everyone. And the quicker it comes, the better. JUST DO IT ALREADY!
-
At the end, the outcome of a game is almost always in the hands of the survs. The more hours you have, the more you'll realize.
And bad - average, not as efficient survs like me are the only reason we have still killers left, wanting to play. The only good thing about MMR is, that queue times are still prioritized. Players would be shocked on both sides, when MMR would work at all times.
-
I'm done with comments like "every killer is viable vs. most survivors". What it actually means is, if you don't play Blight or Nurse you need to tunnel and/or use loads of gen defense. If not, the survs you verse just aren't that good. When i play killer i want to have fun. Seeing 3,4 medkits or toolboxes in the lobby already + potential map offerings is the opposite of fun. The point isn't that i might still get 3 kills, it just feels forced and isn't fun for survs aswell. That's why MMR was such a bad idea. It forces both sides to use the strongest things and tactics when they at least want to compete.
-
The only good thing about MMR in DBD is, that queue times are still prioritized.
-
Yes, Inner Healing isn't that viable anymore just due the existence of CoH, tons of medkits and Pentimento builds.
And i still run it sometimes in solo. It's great against Sloppy and anti-heal builds in general. If you aware of the totemspots, you don't waste any time activly searching for a totem. Every match has "free time" (when a gen was finished / blocked or a mate was downed / hooked). Instead of running around like a chicken, you can do a totem quickly in that time. Don't overuse it tho. If you're sure it's safe to get healed, always prioritize to get healed so you have Inner Healing still in the pocket. You might need it later. Also, it has some good synergy with other perks.
-
Red pings. For me it's suprisingly shocking so many players still don't look for it and hit ready anyway, only to DC and/or complain later about bad connection.

Some have speculated that this might have been an intended thing, another shadow-drop event like the Silent Hill gnomes a while back.
The gnomes didn't have anything to do with Silent Hill. If anything it was a reference to HL2 or Left4Dead (Bill).
-
Acknowledging that ON BOTH SIDES is the first step to improve.
Which makes you already better than the majority of the playerbase. @Gylfie
-
I was running Inner Healing + Dectives Hunch, Windows OP + Kindred for ages. Too bad Inner Healing was indirectly nerfed due Pentimento and CoH. Imo it's still great against Sloppy. With the new UI, you don't really need Kindred anymore, but it still gives pinpoint information when you need it the most (to see who or who not goes for safes, which gens are worked on).
If you don't want to bring items and learned totem spots before i still suggest Inner Healing (just don't waste it if a mate can heal you safely), OTR (for a bit anti-tunnel protection. if you cleansed a totem before, healing in a locker won't stop OTR from working), Windows OP and Kindred. Sometimes i replace Inner Healing with Reassuarance for extra time on gens. Works in solo, team still must be good.
-
Swamp maps are the only left for visual reworks. Midwich just needs better hook rng.
-
I almost never bring items since 2017. And there're even a few positives to do so.
1) You have always free hands for Flashbangs, Pinheads cube, Nemi/Wesker's serums and other events.
2) If you need to be sneaky and have stealthy clothes to blend in, items like medkits can give you away.
3) All you really need is already in the trials (mates to heal you, chests to find medkits and totems for boons or inner healing)
4) When you join a lobby with 3 medkits and the killer ready upped already, chances are high it's a plague. Also no fear of franklins.
5) It feels also more natural for me. I def loop better with free hands (thats just a mindset).
6) I also play killer and know how it feels when you see a lobby with 4 items. If there's at least 1 surv ready upped with no item some killers might dogde less and games can start quicker. But most of the time survs don't ready up anyway for quickswitching reasons (don't even know why this is still posssible, all loadouts should be locked when the countdown hits 15secs.)
-
In my EU exp everthing else besides prime time (5pm - 11pm) has a higher chance of MMR actually working = to be more sweaty.
-
Iron Will got nerfed for a reason (imo 75% isn't even that bad). But OTR is the new Iron Will anyway.
What they should do is make Ace and Ada louder, instead of making all other survivors quiter.
-
I'm suprised at least on XSX and PS5 there's still no option to chose graphic / performance mode.
Not even asking for 120fps, but just STABLE 60fps at 1080p and 4k should be standard in 2023.
It even says "optimized for Xbox Series X|S", and i don't really see it.

"tunneling generators" i think u been watching one to many truetalent videos kid.
"What does a killer get for hooking three different players"......the same thing u get from hooking 1 player! pressure.....
comparing tunneling a gen to tunneling out survivor is pretty silly.
Why? The game and MMR is lit based and balanced on kills and escapes at this point. Gens and kills are the main objectives, BHVR made this clear. As killer i would love to go for 12 hooks every game and still win. But we just don't have enough time against good survs as their objective can be done much quicker. And if we can, they'll still complain about gen defense perks anyway. Also it's not our job to make sure survs have fun. Most of them don't care about killers fun either.
-
@Mandy said:
I think there's a misconception here, we're adjusting the audio sounds so that survivors will have roughly equal sounds however, that might be an increase to some or a decrease to others, we did not say we were making survivors quieter.
Iron Will is not supposed to make survivors completely silent.
This is why ppl pick Ace or Ada, they're so much quiter by default. And with IW almost silent.
Can't wait for that change.
-
I would love to see a dev stream one day were they play against really good killers and survs. Not just goofing around, playing to win. Remember when Cote played Hag against these Korean Shenanigans back than and flashlights got nerfed after that.
The main problem i see with MMR (or ranks before) is that the foundation and balance DOESN'T change. Low and high MMR should be balanced differently. This is why DBD will always be killer-sided with bad survs, and surv-sided with good survivors. It's all about survs efficiency as their objective can be done much quicker (by default).
-
It's also a selling question. In my case, i was gonna purchase Carlos. But now i wont.
It makes sense if we're just talking about legendary skins. But these are 2 different characters, at least in my eyes.
When it comes to perks i was only interested in Flashbang, which i already got from the shrine.

I just checked through every menu and nothing about the post game progress bar, just the in-game progress. Unless you know something I dont.
Yeah, just for ingame notifications. Post-game it doesn't really bother me, as we don't have endgame chat anyway on console.
-
How does NOED stops gen rushing? If anything, NOED is really bad for the game, esp. the stats.
BHVR looks at it, 1-3 kills - everthing is OKAY. But it's not.
-
There's an ingame option for that.
-
Keep it on. Next year we'll have 3 surv second chance perks as basekit. 10 secs. BT, Unbreakable beeing worked on, asked for DS and hey - solo players need even more help, let's give them basekit Kindred on top. So each surv will be able to run 8 perks in total, not even counting medkits and toolboxes. That will definitly stop killers from tunneling. Because the reason they do it isn't it's needed and their objective, it's always personal and to easy to do. /s
-
It's even more complicated to report on console with evidence.
-
Inner Healing, Rift challenge, preventing NOED. It also gives good points.
-
They should tweak the numbers: The bleed out timer needs to go 2x faster if you're crawling.
I believed this is already the case for years. But apparently, it's not.
-
Didn't watched the vid. All i see is almost 1 gen left (Rebecca is on one) and the killer just got his first hook.
Tbf, camping in this situation isn't really smart. But understandable.
-
The weird thing at least on XSX is, we still have the option for anonymous mode, but it just works for yourself as the other players will still see your name.
-
I wouldn't mind having endgame chat on consoles, with the same option as on PC - TO HIDE IT.

On average, you'll pip up more than you'll lose a pip. And more importantly, both you AND your opponent can pip up at the same time. This is totally fine for a reward system like emblems/grades, but it's very bad when it comes to matchmaking. It makes it so over the course of a month, pretty much anybody who plays enough with end up in or near the highest bracket, more or less pairing anyone against anyone. This was pretty much exactly what happened under the old ranking system: Just before rank reset, matchmaking was all over the place since everyone was so close together.
The emblem system also isn't a good indicator of how skilled you are since it doesn't take your opponents skill into consideration. For instance, if you are a low MMR player playing against other low MMR players, you can still have a match where you pip or even double pip. But that doesn't suddenly make you as good as a high MMR player who does that same. You did well in that match with other similarly low MMR people, but you wouldn't do as well in a match with amazing players.
That's why we keep these systems separate. Emblems are purely a monthly ladder that you can climb for rewards (whether you're brand new to the game or an absolutely legend), and MMR is there purely to make sure you'll win about half of your matches. Mixing the two would either make it difficult to get your rewards- unless you're absolutely amazing at the game- or have a seriously negative effect on matchmaking.
And you think kills is a good indicator for skill? Couldn't it just be a killer hard camping and tunneling 1 surv out early, than another one and the third one with NOED? Aren't you looking just for stats? And isn't the problem that stats don't tell you anything what really happend in a match? What do you think is more fun for survs, a killer going for kills or hooks?
That's why i'm still thinking MMR at least should be based on Emblems. The emblem system wasn't perfect, just needed some tweeks. Matchmaking just based on kills and escapes forces both sides into using meta and to play very unfun against the other side when you reached a certain point in current MMR.
-
I'm actually jealous of these chilled and uneffective survs some of you still get. It's like seeing these twitter posts were killers say they go for like 12 hooks without gen defense. But at the end it's still a 4K, right? So with MMR, why are they not getting matched against better teams?
-
Idc camping and tunneling as long my team sits on gens. At least i get chased all game, making it as hard for the killer.
Also i try to not take it personal, the killer just plays his objective as effective as possible. Which again is fine, when survs do the same with gens. Mostly i'm not mad with the killer, but with my mates.
-
I'm on console, only tried the new wiggles once in the beta tab and was also a bit worried not having an option.
But at least for me it turned out super easy to do with RT and LT as the skillchecks are much bigger now. Only thing what changed is that i'm not really looking around anymore while wiggeling. A plus side effect is, it's better for controllers life span. The old wiggle with the stick broke almost 3 controllers for me, they all had analog stick drifts just from DBD (and fishing in SoT).
-
Loudouts were a good start. They said they'll also improve the bloodweb again, i'm really hoping for an optional auto-level per bloodweb. Also how is quickswitching for survs still a thing? All loudouts should be locked after the lobby timer hits 15 secs.
-
Survs proxy-camp and tunnel gens aswell and nobody cares. Because guess what, it's called the OBJECTIVE.
-
How can i judge something what i can't prove 100%, even not after the game is over? (SWFs / solo icons would be nice on the endgame screen) Also as a console killer i can't check profiles nor hours as i verse crossplattform players 98%. And even when they don't have many items and using default skins, they still could quickswitch at any second (they should lock loadouts when the lobby timer hits 15secs or so). The only way for me to compete would be to pretend they're all SWFs, going full meta and playing VERY tactical in all my games. Does this sound healthy? Prob not.
-
Killers are smarter than survivors, they can remember the hooks.
Good killers don't even think of surv names, for them they're just numbers (1-4).
