  • I got addicted to WoO since they started with the map reworks, even WoO had a cooldown.

Now many maps are VERY dark and have so much clutter when you play on ultra settings without filters.

Also you can use WoO like a radar when you don't have eyesight on the killer / chase. That extra information when you see live when and where a pallet is dropped (or breakable wall is getting broken) can be really strong sometimes aswell.

  • Guess what's happening when the win condition are KILLS and ESCAPES. And paired with MMR both sides doing their objectives just even more effective, who would have thought. But don't you worry, instead of giving killers incentives to gor for more hooks, we gonna punish them even more soon. Treating camping, tunneling and slugging like problem childs won't solve it. Killers aren't stupid.

  • When you hit ready while having a red ping in your lobby, it's your fault, no matter which side you're playing or if you're streaming or not.

Would be suprised if it's bannable, but pls don't complain about bad connection after.

  • At this point it's pretty much stable 60fps on XSX (with killer it feels a bit lower), way better than on Switch and the older gen consoles. Someone really should do a recent framerate test with DbD on the newest consoles, couldn't find anything on YT.

But when i switch from SoT with 120fps to DbD i can see a huge difference.

On PC you can play DBD with 120fps, why not on XSX and PS5?

  • Facecamping used to be a term in the early days in DBD when we had only 3 killers. Trapper was able to place a trap right in front of the hook. Survivors only were able to unhook from one direction, so the Trapper just needed to stand there to prevent the unhook.

In short, if the the killer isn't at least more than 5 meters away from the hook and not looking all the time at the hooked surv, it's just camping, not facecamping.

  • Don't come back... yet, i'd say. Unless you really love Nicolas Cage.

Current meta is still genrush vs. killrush. Solo will replace DCs with bots soon, but i'm worried the new killer will be the 3rd in a row to be unfun to play and verse. And the new map has the potential to be be the next Garden of JOY, depending on it's size.

  • It's the survs fault if not at least 2 escape in that scenario. A good team will only lose 1 surv.

And 2 or 3 escapes is most likely either a draw or loss for the killer and a draw or win for the survs.

  • Instead they should give insentives to go for more hooks. Punishing clusterfixes never gonna work, killers aren't stupid.

  • Basekit BT, basekit UB still possible and soon basekit Deliverance on top?

And don't forget about Reassurance. What are they thinking?!

  • A bad team isn't supposed to win against a good killer. You can't clusterfix bad players.

Replacing DCs with bots will be the only exception. This should have been in the game since ages.

  • For me the hardest part about tunneling is to actually find the weakest link ASAP. I don't check profiles as i'm on console and even on PC many players just use private profiles. You can totally throw a game by just tunneling the first surv you see. And then you also have these games with no weak link at all. Chase get's too long? Just go for another surv... Well, good luck with that when everyone is doing the same. I call this surv jojo on gens (predropping pallets + shift W). Actually tunneling gens, but ofc you can't say that. Because for survs it's fine to do the objective, how you dare as killer?

  • What again were the incentives to not tunnel?

  • Hide endgame chat as most toxicity comes with it. If you need to see a honest "GG" this game isn't for you, sadly.

  • Would love getting some incentives to not tunnel. Until than, why shouldn't i?

3 kills are a win, the entity doesn't care what really happens in the game. Nor do i about the survs and vice versa.

  • It's not about you, but what your team is supposed to do. Like any other killer, this is a 4v1.

    1) Split her 3 gen asap with comms and/or certain gen aura perks or just gamesense. Might take a bit longer, but that's the important part.

    2) After that your team needs to work on seperate gens. She only can chase 1, the other 3 need to be on gens. She can't teleport so the team just needs to jojo. If she's not commiting, she won't get another down. Always do the drones on gens. When you're already injured you don't need to, depends if the gen is in the open and you would see her comming anyway. Also use gamesense and keep track on the HUD, who was already hooked etc. With a good team you should see 3 ppl on gens at almost anytime, that's the difference.

Imo Skully is very boring to play and to verse, but it is what it is.

  • As long they don't show their intensions in endgame chat you never know if it was personal or not.

Most of the time they just want to win, same as survivors. Projection is a big thing in DBD.

  • Scary how bad survs need their excaution perks. Never liked them, barely used them.

Against most killers you'll still make it to another loop using the free sprint burst after getting hit. If you have a hard time finding loops use WoO. Against Nurse and Blight you need to play different anyway.

  • Maybe play killer more. Or another game.

  • Many bad survs "protesting". They did that in the past, BHVR sees the stats and feels to act in nerfs or buffs.

  • Is there any multiplayer game that allows cross progression between PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch - not just 2 of them?

  • New players aren't supposed to win, that's how i see it. You'll get better.

Also i still would prefer to get rid of MMR and ad a ~200hs noob protection instead.

  • It's better than getting tunneled at 5 gens, isn't it? Also isn't it more a surv skill issue if you allow to get hit so many times like, for free? Use the reassurces, most maps are full of pallets. And maybe don't bodyblock that hook for no reason when it's just 5m away. And even than, it's your decision if you keep beeing injured rushing gens or get healed. There're still strong medkits builds available or team aura perks like Bond and Kindred.

  • That's a console problem. If they're on the same plattform, they'll still see your name.

I'm on XSX and stopped using anon mode for that reason. Also i don't want to get dogded a lot as they might think i'm a microsoft store cheater.

  • The titel reminds me of someone saying "keep playing DBD and you already lost."

  • Most survs want fun but also want to escape = normal

Most killers want fun but also as many kills as possible = toxic

That's the doublestandards in DBD. Genrush is fine, Killrush isn't. Even both sides are just playing their objectives.

  • "Toxicity" and "fun" became such strechted terms, esp. in DBD. At high MMR it's basically genrush vs. killrush, both sides playing their objectives as efficient as they can / need / whatever. I blame MMR for that, hate it or love it. That's why i don't think any playstyle or builds are toxic. Toxicity is all about INTENSIONS. Like quickswitching with your 4man, tbagging when you see the killer struggles, streamsniping, nodding killers camping / slugging. The more you play the better you'll be able to see the difference if someone wants to win or just wants to make the other side feel bad. Also the most toxicity comes in endgame chat.

Just a lil anecdote... I used to dogde players with "toxic" in their names, on both sides. Last night i played Pyramid Head without addons on farm and there was a Jake with "toxic" in his name. He was the only surv with no item and the last one to die as i tunneled pretty much everyone. And he just msgd me "ggs" and i did aswell. That's the difference.

  • Auras are really hard to see on the reworked corn maps. Distortion works better here for some reason, even it's yellow.

I experimented with the colorblind-settings aswell, but didn't found an overall good solution for all maps, so i just left it to default.

On PC go for low-settings, on console you're just screwed. Crossplay ftw!

  • I think OTR became the new DH. But SB and Lithe are also good, always has been.

  • Almost every map is surv-sided with good survs, except nurse. There're a few "special builds" for each killer who are using certain map offerings, but that's pretty much it. Killswitches are supposed for exploits and bugs. If anything, get rid of map offerings on both sides.

  • I blame MMR. Kills, escapes, stats and balancing around it without knowing what really happens in our matches, esp. in high MMR.

Ofc it will be genrush vs. killrush once you hit a certain level, what do you expect?

  • Get rid of it. And only make self unhooks possible with certain surv perks.

  • With 606 hours you're still pretty new to the game. And escpaping 12 of 47 solo matches was a really good job for that.

Don't forget you will get better and also get better teammates with MMR, most likely.

  • I'd say it's another side effect of MMR and happens more at prime time (like 9pm-12pm) when there are not as much players avaible to match with your MMR. So the game matches you either with different MMR players and/or puts you on a server which is more far away from your location, so you have a bad ping. It's still your choice if you hit ready or not. I wouldn't recommend hitting ready when you or the other side has a red ping. Just search for another match or switch sides.

Just to chime in real quick, both the Killer perks and Survivor perks that we've toned down in the past few updates have seen a decline in usage rate, as intended. It's not just Killers who stop using a perk when it's nerfed, Survivors do the same. It might be harder to tell since you're the only Killer in your match, but there are still many who continue running those perks.

Beyond that, I will just say that you haven't explained why you consider them a problem (or why they will always be a problem), so it's very difficult to have any sort of constructive conversation about it.

No excaution perk is a problem when the survs are not as experienced. When they're good and using them right they make a huge difference in chase time. For the killer it means more gens are done as only distance counts for survs in this game, esp. on bigger maps. Sure they can start another chase, but the other survs will most likely do the same and aren't even injured yet. Good survs can tank hits in a door / small passage to prevent a down and there is no counterplay for that most of the time. Again, for good survs it's all about getting as much distance as possible. Because they know the killers objective will take much longer than the survs objective. And than the killer is forced to tunnel/camp even more because there's just not enough time to go for more hooks.

Also you want more interaction with killers. Against good survs most of the time it doesn't even count as a chase as they are just too far away. Holding W is a big problem by itself, excaustion perks only extend that.

The main problem aren't excaution perks tho. It's MMR - genrush vs. killrush. And BHVRs fear of nerfing SWFs instead of buffing solos. Because good solos will never be the same caliber as good SWFs, no matter how many infos you give them (and things like basekit BT are free on top of that for SWFs).

Would be something different if each MMR bracket would have different balance, i said this about ranks before. MMR is like a fun sponge on most multiplayer games. But when it's not balanced for good players like in DBD, it's even worse. A ~200hs noob protection instead would be fine.

  • Gens are flying even faster. Saw that on both sides.

  • @Jocelynbee @GoodBoyKaru

In short, other plattforms won't see my gamertag when i'm using anon-mode in DBD on Xbox, only other Xbox players will? As i said, we still have the option. In Sea of Thieves, which is a Microsoft first party titel it works for all players, Xbox and PC.

  • For some reason we still have the option on XSX. But ppl told me it's only working on my end as other players will still see my gamertag.

  • On XSX we still have the option. But ppl told me it's only working on my side as others still will see my name.

  • What do you expect? If you and/or your team is playing bad, you aren't supposed to win. Thing is, you will get better. Most likely.

What i do get is when MMR isn't working at certain times. 200 hours survs vs. 8k hours killer, or vice versa isn't really fair.

That's why i still think: Get rid of MMR and just ad a ~200hs noob protection for both sides.

  • Genrush vs. Killrush. They don't care about my fun, why should i?

I might slow down when i see they're really struggling, at this point 1 is already dead. Better safe than sorry.

I don't BM, don't slugg for the 4k (when they don't act toxic), i don't complain about survs perks, items, offerings (tho my internet will break when i see a Badham, Red Forest or Garden of Joy offering) and playstyles. You do you, i'm just a KILLER doing his objective. And i'll keep doing that as long we have MMR and a escape/kill win condition.

The perk is bugged so that hitting the skill checks causes the generator to regress by a substantial amount, usually between 85% and 100% of the way, but only sometimes. The exact causes of the bug are unknown, so avoiding it is also unknown, but letting go of the generator, taking the 10% missed skill check penalty, and having the gen be blocked is often the better option instead of needing to re-repair every generator.

The reason solo queue is involved is because you cannot tell them "oh yeah they have merciless btw don't forget it's bugged and to let go". Cross-platform games means you can't remind people in pre-game chat, either.

Didn't know that. If the devs are aware of it, they should killswitch it.

They should use that feature for any bugged perk/addon, even it's not "gamebreaking".

  • Genrush vs. Killrush. Blame MMR and gamebalance, not the players.

  • You're not supposed to let go from the gen like with Pain Res / DMS.

You just need to hit the skillchecks. Or what's the problem here?

  • Besides Nurse and Blight, every killer is strong vs. potatoes, mostly balanced vs. average and weak vs. good survivors.

It's more about builds and playstyles on both sides. Genrush vs. Killrush, that's how i see it. But don't blame the players, blame MMR.

  • If you get hooked near the gate and you're teammates are smart, it's a free escape anyway most of the time.

And if not, Deliverance is even stronger. Because it still works endgame. Pair it with Adre.

  • Gamebalance, playernumbers, sells - all they care about is stats. Don't agree on the gamebalance, but that's not the topic here.

And it's fair enough liscended chars alone are sold for ~5 bucks. So if you want them for the perks, it's a very fair price and not much pay to win. Are most cosmetics overpriced, esp. legacy skins which you can't even mix? Absolutly. But you don't need to buy them, it's that simple. Also i can't mention enough how important shards still are. Earning them with playtime was a really smart thing to do. This and the free rifts are only possible because people buying skins. So... tx, i guess.

Yeah sorry that's a killer mistake, says nothing about corrupt.

If that Plague was a bit more aware and found the would be flashlightsaver you would have been in a situation of one slug one chased and the rest of the team having to clean up your mistake.

All of your early pressure as survivors that's so strong would be thrown out of the window.

Try going down on purpose against corrupt for the next 10 games you face it and tell me how it goes on avarage

That's my point, it depends on the survs. Even the killer sluggs me and goes for the flashlight, thats still 1-2 ppl on gens as corrupt is gone - 3 perks left for the killer at the start of the game. And i could have Unbreakable, killer doesn't know. Killer could camp/tunnel now. Idc as long my mates don't feed it. It's always in the power of the survs. Always. If my team is bad, no matter if solo or SWFs, we're not suppossed to win. (And the thing with corrupt is just one example, ofc i'm not that stupid to do this against every corrupt i see)

I have no idea what my fellow killer players enjoy running. If anyone genuinely believes they must run four slowdown perks every match, then I'd be delighted to inform them that 100% isn't necessary. Two slowdowns would be preferable, leaving you room for other essentials like tracking or chase perks.

You don't need to stack tons of slowdown, and regarding the patch that sparked this discussion, you definitely absolutely don't need to defend a 3-gen with CoB/Overcharge. Just the same as you don't need to tunnel someone out ASAP. Those are effective strategies (if done smartly), but they are not anywhere close to required.

Regarding Corrupt: I don't think intentionally giving the killer an incredibly early down + early pressure is a particularly smart way of countering any perk. If that Tapp hadn't flashlight saved, it would've backfired tremendously on you.

I asume you're on PC, checking survs hours before? Because as i said, if not, you never know what caliber you're going against. Still having 5 gens within the first down/hook doesn't mean anything. First gen could be on 75%, second one on 90% and a third one on 99% if they just split up. And then tell me just one reason not to tunnel and/or proxy camp. Just one. Remember, i'm playing KILLER.

  • @jesterkind said:

I think it's more accurate to say that killers shouldn't be stacking four slowdown perks, and that what killer they're playing should factor in to what perks they pick.

After all, you say Eruption was nerfed into the ground, but it really wasn't. Sure, Trapper can't use it for instance, but if you slap Eruption on Wraith with Windstorm and Shadow Dance addons, it becomes a genuinely really solid perk. Same with Dead Man's Switch; it's not quite as good, of course, but put it on a mobile killer or a killer that can pressure gens at range like Doctor and Artist, and they can make pretty solid use of it.

This doesn't apply to Corrupt Intervention, mind. That perk is literally just as good as it was before and its nerf barely impacted it, since the reason you bring it is to push survivors off the gens they spawn on and it still does that literally just as well as before.

Really, the only totally dead regression perk is Ruin. That one is pretty useless, I can't get that one to give value no matter what build I put it in lol

Do you think killers enjoyed using the same 4 slowdown perks almost every game? For me they're just clusterfixes against teams who actually do gens. I know it's hard to believe, but it can happen in lit every match.

Just one thing about Corrupt... Played a match vs. a Plague on RPD last night. I noticed she had it, ran right into her and she got her first down within 10 secs. What she didn't know is, i went down on purpose. Luckily an aware Adam flashlight safed me and boom, bye Corrupt - it lasted like 30 secs. Solo btw. The 3 others might have been together. Can't tell nor check on console. She barely got 2 kills.

  • I don't get why DBD still doesn't have a performance/graphic mode on consoles, like other games. This would help so much when it comes to FPS. It already kinda does on PC, with changing the graphic quality.

But what can you expect from a game, which doesn't even has ingame brightness options.

1 … 3 4 5 6 7 … 22
