The gameplay wasn't toxic, but to rage and be toxic in the endgame chat after the game had finished says a lot about the persons mindset during that situation, not to mention the bashing over and over again on my first hook just to, what, get a rise out of me?
I'm not sure. Again, I said in a previous comment that I've done this strat before, but to be toxic after you've made a comeback just rubbed me the wrong way made me anaylse the entire mindset of what this guy was going through during that game. Maybe something bad happened to him, who knows.
If any commentary is to be taken away from this experience for me though, it's that we really shouldn't take out our anger in such awful ways. I mean, I remember playing MW2 way back when and hearing people talk about how they wanted to unspeakable things to you, a loved one etc just because they lost one single, ten minute game of TDM. It's not insane to assume this is also the thought process of this specific player as well.
Ahh, I getcha now. I was too focused on the gameplay portion of your post lol. But I absolutely agree people get way too serious when dealing with other people online, it's kind of sickening at times. Might seem lame or boring but I think the best way to deal with it really is to just ignore them. Just don't let them have that voice
-
Just out of curiosity, and I'm asking genuinely... In your mind, what's the best move for the killer in that situation? I mean, you said it yourself, he went from losing the match to getting a 3k - that's a pretty good comeback. Without considering the endgame chat too much only because we can't see it, I don't really think his gameplay sounds toxic

But then again, if it truely doesn't matter, why do we need it?
Short answer? We don't. Just like we don't need different cosmetics, backstories, or literally anything beyond a controllable character. We have those things because some people want it.
Long answer? Whether or not it matters is more of a subjective thing rather than objective (so I admit I could've phrased what I said a little better). So when someone says it doesn't matter, why does that particular person care? Why should they oppose it? There are plenty of people who think it does matter, so of course that group would be happy if it was included. On the flip side, those who claim it doesn't matter should be unaffected by it. So what does dbd have to lose by adding an LGBT character?
I'm a straight white man - if they add an LGBT character I'll gain nothing beyond another option to play as, but I understand there are many people who would really like it which is why I'm for it
-
Agreed. People will swear up and down against it saying it shouldn't matter in this game, but that's just it - if it truly doesn't matter, then why is anyone against it?

I think it'd be a close one between Oni and Pyramid Head IF PH could lift without his... Pyramid of a head... I think the main difference (other than the massive steel head) between the two is that PH looks more like an all-around athlete (and a BIG one at that), while Oni looks like he's spent more time around weights than any other means of exercise. Plus Oni looks like he's on a lot more PED's than PH and that'll more often than not make a pretty big difference lol
But, having spent around three years powerlifting I've seen a lot of people lift a lot more than they look like they should lol. I wouldn't put it past Trapper to be strong as absolute sh*t either. Blight has a pretty bad hunchback that I believe would put him at a big disadvantage from an anatomical standpoint (same with PH's head).
Sorry if I got too in-depth with that lol

Be happy I'm not your neighbor, I'd probably lure your cat over with treats and spend more time with him than you. And when he finally manages to go home he'll be so fat he couldn't make it across the yard.
But have you ever considered that just maybe... We are neighbors? π³ and we just don't know it yet? π€―

If it makes you feel better, go for it. Personally I just try to leave it alone because they're probably just looking for a reaction and I'm just not really interested in trash talking back and forth, especially not over a video game lol
-
Same. I've played against enough clone crews to know the majority of them are just going to try to make me miserable. This game can be miserable enough without people trying to make it worse lol
I don't mind similar names though, never really have bad experiences there
-
It's way too grindy, especially for people like me who usually only play a few matches a day, if that. I recently saved up 1,000,000 bp's (took me like two weeks...) and got Nancy so I could unlock Fixated and get it on Zarina. After first unlocking it on Nancy, I was left with only 97k bp's. I had no other perks showing up in Zarina's bloodweb other than Fixated and Better Together so at least I was able to just focus on Fixated, but I was still only able to get it to tier 2 before running out of bp's. I know we've got the shrine which is nice, but I thought for sure I'd be able to get a teachable unlocked and to tier 3 with another character using the max amount of bp's they'll allow us to save up π
Not to mention, out of all those bp's I didn't even get to use any of them on the killers I used to grind out those points.
But hey, at least I've got a Nancy loaded up with almost exclusively brown and yellow items/offerings if I ever want to play her π

After looking it up, it looks like he's talking about Rocket League. Not that it really matters, but yeh

A year ago I would've said this doesn't fit for dbd, but right now I'm actually all for this. It'd definitely make the game more challenging, scary, and in my opinion fun for survivor, and maybe it'd be enough to get a little more people playing killer

We're actually crying about Franklin's Demise now? What the actual hell? How entitled can someone be to really think this isn't a waste of a perk slot? What now? We'll be calling out for nerfs on Beast of Prey? Or lightborn?
Seriously, I've seen it all now lol. This has to be either top-tier bait or just someone who lost a couple keys today
-
I would *almost* consider agreeing with you if it wasn't so easy to just go back and pick up your item lol. Franklin's really isn't even that good of a perk π
-
I wouldn't say I *hate* playing against any killers, but I usually don't expect to have much fun against Spirit, Plague, or Freddy.
-
I actually don't dislike this idea surprisingly lol. I think it'd make more sense to have the option to set a backup hex if you'd rather not have it be random. I've spawned right next to enough hex totems and had them out of the match instantly enough times (or had my hexes destroyed instantly) enough times to the point where I just rarely use hexes anymore. Something like this might get me to use them more often
-
If another survivor is still in the trial and I don't know that they're safe, I'll buy as much time for them as I can: either you come chase me out the gate or you leave me, and in the chance you catch them you risk me being able to save them. It's not meant to be trolling in that scenario, it's just me doing the best I can for my team. But if all four survivors are in the gate, then yeah it's pretty unnecessary to hang around unless you're healing up for a few extra bp's. There's nothing more disheartening as a killer than taking it easy on a team because they seem new just to watch them click and teabag in the gates at the end... Don't be that guy lol
That's just my take on it
As for discouraging waiting in the gates, I wouldn't mind a mechanic where you couldn't leave the trial through the exit gates within like five or so seconds of being put into the dying state. But that'd get VERY mixed reactions I'm sure and wouldn't be likely to ever actually happen
-
This is why I can't stand playing campaign mode
-
Late to the party, but...
-
Tough to come up with an all-time favorite... Kinda go through phases personally. Halloween, Texas Chainsaw, tons of good classic slashers out there.. Definitely agree with The Ring as well, that movie was great! If I remember correctly, White Noise felt similar to The Ring if you're interested in checking that out.
On the flip side, if you enjoy bad horror movies, the Wrong Turn series is one I've loved for years. First couple movies felt like they had potential, but after that it's just an absolute sh*tshow lol. Then there's Axe Giant, which may be the worst movie I've ever seen. Had me laughing like crazy the whole way through π
-
There are a lot of cool suggestions in this thread. I think some sort of an island would be sweet, the exit gates lead to boats for you to get away on or something

That's the trailer for The Evil Within.
The title says E3, not 3, cause it was shown at E3.
Oh wow I'm dumb... Guess I just got ahead of myself trying to reply at work and shared the first video that popped up on YouTube. I did see something that looked legit a while back about a third game being made but I can't seem to find it again, soooo yeah, probably wasn't actually legit lol. That's too bad

I don't usually have Issues with fps (Xbox One here) but when I do, it's BAD. So I do think that's a factor, but it's honestly seeing keys, flashlight clicking, teabagging, and just all-around annoying survivors every other match that pushed me to get used to playing survivor - and once I did, I finally felt like I could relax and play matches without rolling my eyes at seeing the same stuff most of the time.
Maybe it's just bad luck on my end, but playing killer just became irritating and more like a chore than anything. When I play survivor I'm not on my toes every second of every match and it feels great. I still play killer but probably not more than like five matches at a time. I'm just burnt out from it and I think a lot of people feel the same way
-
Your team should honestly just do gens and get out. He's probably got NOED and Bloodwarden, just trapping you until endgame to ensure a hook during egc. It sucks you're a victim and can't really fight back in this scenario, but if I'm assuming right, at least your team can take a guess and leave him with a 1k instead of 4k
And I don't know about you, but I'd rather just take a loss and move on than wait a half hour or longer for a chance to *maybe* be able to do something
-
For the most part, I agree. In my case, I'm a rank 5 survivor, and have very recently had quite a few friends start playing dbd, so when I play with them I tend to play against newer killers. Because of that I usually use pretty random perk builds just for fun and try to take it easy on the killer, sometimes let them kill me and stuff.
The reason I can't fully agree is that if I wasn't playing with one of my friends who just got into it, he told me he probably wouldn't have even tried to understand the game and just quit playing. So I think it does help keep new survivors playing, I just wish more players would be a little nicer to new killers when they know they're quite obviously able to beat them
-
I'll watch if I either liked or reeeally disliked someone on my team. I once saw a teabagging, flashlight clicking claudette taunting a Freddy for almost the entire EGC in the exit gate until she got too cocky, 360'd and ran out of the gate area, then got hit and tried to teabag and deadhard to the exit, but failed and got hooked instead π that moment is what keeps me spectating after matches
-
Back 4 Blood, Evil Dead, Resident Evil 8... Should be a good year for zombies and horror!
-
There is another...
-
When I was still pretty new, I was the last survivor in a really close match against a wraith. Hatch was closed and I watched him patrol an exit gate before I went to open it as he left. He got back when I had the gate at 99% and downed me just before I could get it fully. He picks me up and starts carrying me to a hook, only for me to wiggle free right before getting hooked and run back to the gate for a surprise escape. It went from "Yes! I made it!" To "ahh nevermind, well played" to "Oh my God wait a minute!" It's that kind of rush that makes this game so much fun to me
-
Oop
-
Thank you for posting this! I'm super fired up for this now, L4D is still one of the best zombie games I've ever played. With the new Evil Dead game, Resident Evil 8, and I'm sure some others coming out, 2021 might be a big year for zombies/horror games!
-
Both are great. I played with each of them for a while and would always bring a medkit so I could heal myself to 99% so when spine chill stayed lit up for long enough to think the killer's coming, I could heal and run. 9% is a pretty good boost, and using Resilience is what taught me to be comfortable playing injured when it's necessary. Only trouble with that strategy is that I almost always play solo, so teammates don't know not to heal me all the way lol
-
As someone who plays mostly solo I'd have to agree. Of course there are a few matches here and there where you feel like you have no idea what's going on, but as long as you have some sense of where teammates are or what they're doing, you can easily pull your own weight, or even carry someone else. That disadvantage of having no communication makes it a little more fun in my opinion
-
Me and a friend came up with an idea for a scarecrow one night; although, I'm not sure how practical this idea would actually be in the game:
Scarecrow power idea: the scarecrow isn't a specific type of killer (stealth-based, trap-based, or mobility-based) like most in dbd; instead, the scarecrow is all three. The catch is that it can only use one of these types of powers at a time.Β
Three different scarecrows are placed around the map at the beginning of the trial with scarecrow posts scattered throughout the map. The player will decide which power belongs to which scarecrow before the trial begins and can swap between each of them throughout the trial to use stealth, traps, or high-mobility as they see fit. To switch to a different scarecrow, they just need to get to one of their posts and quickly select which scarecrow they want to switch to, then will spawn at the post they put that specific scarecrow last.
To prevent camping, the nearest hook to a post with an inactive scarecrow on it will be disabled until that scarecrow becomes active

I felt bad but I had to try it...

That's not toxic at all. If a survivor blinds me at a pallet, they may gain the benefit of me not being able to see for a moment, but I benefit from them not gaining much ground in the chase. Seems like a decent trade off to me
-

I'll nod/shake at them if they start teabagging/clicking at me and then go down in about 0.3 seconds. Have the skills to back up your nonsense plz
Good or chill survivors are treated with more respect.
You tried the slow motion teabag payback with pig? That's where it's at, especially if another survivor comes to boop the snoot while you do it lol

No, she'd be one of the last to help you. Amanda Young would rig the trials specifically so no one would live. If she had things her way she'd weld the hatch and exit gates shut to trap everyone in before she had fun slaughtering them.
I think you took me way too literal lol. I've seen the Saw movies, I know Amanda plays to win. But in dbd, pigs who let you boop are just messing around and will let you go 99% of the time, which is what I was getting at
-
I haven't used it personally, and I haven't seen anybody get use out of it either, whether playing as survivor or killer. From my understanding, it won't activate until you try to wiggle, so even if the killer picks you up on the pallet, they'll likely walk out before you can use the perk even if flip flop gives you enough on the wiggle bar. I could see it potentially working if a teammate bodyblocks the killer from walking out of it, but even then, they might as well just pull the pallet down and get the save that way
-
Pig - just boop the snoot
