Gating necessary perks behind DLC is not a good idea. Who would have known?

Outside of events, I just play for the Tomes/Rift now. It's not worth my time anymore. I used to be able to get sacrificed but still leave the game with an average of 20k bloodpoints. My games these days are such steamrolls that too often I'm leaving with around 10k. It's simply not worth my time.
This is also an important point. You don't get anything for playing survivor compared to what you get playing killer. If the game is going to be balanced in the way it currently is then survivor bloodpoint gains need a massive overhaul. They don't seem to view this as an issue sadly.

This is just from today. There are two possibilities regarding solo queue right now:
Something with the matchmaker is completely bugged and needs to be fixed.
Matchmaking is working as intended and these are the results for my killer games. It needs to be reworked/fixed in that case.
Either way, this can't go on. This matchmaking is atrocious.
This is the solo queue experience ATM. These days I just get off after a few games at most due to the sheer number of matches that end like this. Haven't played since the day the Billy update released and i'm totally fine with continuing that into the foreseeable future. The game just isn't fun.
-
They need to nerf him down to the A tier and be done with it. There is no justifiable reason for why S tier killers still exist in 2024 after the many nerfs survivors have received. No one is playing against comp teams in pub matches so killers this strong are completely unnecessary. It'd be nice if they stopped wasting time constantly reworking killers like Onryo and actually focused on the ones that are a real problem.

Or... hear me out
Matchmaking is and always has been dog. No streamer is going to spend hours of their time afking off stream just to lower a number they cant see. Most of my games are 3-4ks even when I do play with the most random builds, and upon looking at peoples profiles a lot of them don't even reach 1k hours, while I myself have over 6k.
The strategy you mentioned is nothing new and is a perfect ideal scenario which only really works against inexperienced groups since, again, its a perfect scenario.
2 gens remaining and all 4 of them being alive is what happens a large majority of the time. Just because they're all alive doesn't mean you haven't depleted their resources and have gotten hooks in between. If you haven't done either, then you kind of deserve to lose at that point since a bunch of mistakes have brought you to that point.
I lost 9 games in a row on the day of new Billy release. By far one of the worst losing streaks i've ever had in this game. I still got matched with 4 P100 Hillbillies in that span. One of which had 8700 hours and another which was a comp player. The matchmaking is just bad and I don't know how some people still don't realize this. It's not strict at all and just throws you in with whoever.

The uproar from nerfing him would be pretty intense though.
They'll get over it.
-
They overbuffed his basekit recovery time after a miss. The addons that make it even more lenient are just icing on the cake. If you fix these two things he will be fine.
-
100% IMO. I can't prove it but I can give my own anecdotal experience. I have personally know multiple IRL friends who dropped the game entirely because they would get tunneled every game. They were casual players which is the group that is affected the most by tunneling. I really feel like Behavior has to address tunneling in a meaningful way if they want to retain casual players. The larger problem with all of this is matchmaking. Behavior tries to make the system more strict and then killer mains cry about having to actually play against good survivors on a consistent basis. Then we get stuck with the horrible system that we have now where casual players are the ones who suffer the most. Mismatches are what make tunneling as effective as it is. An ordinary match isn't comp where the survivors are good enough to play around it. When tunneling happens in a real solo queue game it's some guy with 500 hours and meme perks being hard tunneled out at four gens by a high tier killer with 3000 hours. For the record I don't have an issue with strategically tunneling someone out in most scenarios. Like there are two gens left and the killer needs to get rid of someone. It's killers zeroing in on someone with five gens left and deleting them from the game that is a problem. Usually while running four slowdown perks and playing a high tier killer.

If anyone wants to see a video of how ridiculous his chainsaw cooldown is with the right setup.
https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1afsl7a/am_i_wrong_for_thinking_bhvr_went_a_little
This is absolutely broken and needs to be changed ASAP. This is just rewarding people for missing and not rewarding people for outplaying his ability. The survivor in the video outplays the ability and goes down anyway. What's the point of playing a game where your skill expression doesn't matter?
-
I don't get the point of these threads. The kill rates are what will decide whether he gets nerfed. If he is massively overperforming then he is going to get nerfed. There is nothing else to it. He has already gone from one of the lowest kill rates to one of the highest in a SINGLE DAY on nightlight. He's really strong and I don't know why people are trying so hard to downplay it.

@IamFran said:
Adrenaline needs some nerf but not huge ones or a complete rework as happened with Dead Hard for example.
The nerfs I think Adrenaline needs:
- Not activating when you are already exhausted.
- Not activating when a team mate unhook you if you were hooked when the last gen was finished, or at least not healing you automatically and only give the speed bonus.
- Not waking you up if you are in the dream world against Freddy.
Aside that, I think the perk is fine.
Says it doesn't need huge nerfs then lists nerfs that would kill the perk entirely. The perk already has bad end game synergy with traditional exhaustion perks since you become exhausted when it activates. Making it so you can't even use it while already exhausted in addition to not healing off the hook would completely kill the perk. No one would run it because there would be a huge chance that you'd play the entire match down one perk and still not get any value in the end game. I certainly wouldn't use it and would just use something else like Hope instead. At least then i'd get something for playing the entire game with one less perk.
-
Feels overtuned to be honest. I haven't had a huge problem with most killer reworks but I do feel like you went a little too far with this one. I went 0-9 against Hillbilly today (Including four P100s who crawled out of the woodwork). Even by my own solo queue standards that is a bit absurd. I NEVER lose this much and these games were not just losses. They were absolute devastation every single match. My biggest issue is how he seems to have almost no recovery time whatsoever. I'm not sure if it's an addon problem or a basekit issue since I am not an avid Billy player. What I know from playing against him is you can just miss repeatedly with very minimal consequences. His power is too strong for that to be a thing.

I’m sure eventually it might slow down, these builds are just being tried out so I think eventually killers will probably get bored and try different builds.
Yea like they got bored with eruption?
-
0-8 today in solo queue. Just absolute devastation every game. (THREE P100 Billies which is insane) 4-0 on killer. How are your games going? Grim Embrace is absolutely miserable and every killer i've seen run it was a high tier killer. Plague, Spirit, and Blight.

Blight base kit is one of golden standarts for strong but fair killer powers.
I quess Nurse S tier only it is then hmm. Will be fun for survivors too in variation matches.
Lol. Who do you think they'll be coming for once they're satisfied with Blight? Enjoy nurse while she lasts.
-
RIP Adrenaline. I wonder if it will be something like you don't get a health state off the hook or if they will just kill the perk altogether. Good news is Blight will hopefully get real basekit nerfs.
-
I mean everyone should have expected it. I've been saying it was going to happen for a long time and i'm glad to see that I was probably right. This killer is ridiculous and absolutely deserves whatever nerfs he gets.
-
The player count will go back up when whoever the decision maker is gets over their "killer must be the power role" design choices. Everyone I used to play with has quit because they think survivor has gotten way too hard for casual players. I am the only one left from my group and I play far more killer than survivor these days.
-
She shouldn't get haste at all. Random haste just makes things confusing for the other side and is probably a huge part of why her kill rate is so high. It just destroys your muscle memory. The hindered, tracking, and free damage are enough considering none of it requires any effort at all. I've been playing a lot of Skull Merchant over the past few weeks and am just amazed at how easy it is to do well with this killer.
-
This is the least excited I have ever been for a DBD chapter in years of playing this game. Niche license with underwhelming perks and no new killer or map. There's just nothing to be excited about. I might buy the chapter regardless since I enjoy having all the achievements.

Kill Rate doesn't say anything. Basically if Killer lose his game very hard - Survivors throw and give him 1 or 2 Kills usually. Not always, but yeah... It happens very often in my opinion. Also Kill Rate at low MMR is probably very high, because nobody knows how to play and try to hide.
How do you explain all of those high MMR streamers who consistently win 9/10 games as killer? Do they have a secret queue which makes the game easier for them? Or maybe they're just better than the average forum killer?

@Zachcjjj said:
in average pub matches killer is easily the best at the TOP level its survivor still (this doesnt happen in public matches)
Even comp players have said as much. I've seen Team Eternal players flat out say good killers should win 95% of their games in pub matches. Yet people keep trying to argue that pub matches are impossibly hard for killers. My win rate isn't quite 95% but I usually wreck the overwhelming majority of teams I go against.
-
The general inconsistency of the matchmaking. I played earlier this morning and my teammates were literally gods. All of them in the thousands of hours. No weak loopers, efficient on gens, etc. The day before it was literally people urban evading, running into walls during chase, refusing to unhook, etc. This is how my DBD experience typically goes. I have a bad day where I am brought down by awful teammates so my MMR theoretically should give me even worse teammates. Yet the exact opposite happens. Make it make sense. My opinion is the same as it has always been. The MMR is so loose in this game that it might as well not even exist. I'm not sure who it works for other than brand new players.
-
It'll be nerfed within a few weeks after we have fifty youtube videos showcasing how bad it is on live.
-
It's back to being completely random for me. I think at this point they should just do away with the system entirely. I actually did test the system once and my main takeaway was that MMR only seems to do anything at the extreme low end of the spectrum. I played exclusively as trapper and intentionally let as many survivors go as possible over a large number of games. Then on trapper I would get brand new players 95% of the time. Although once you reach "average" MMR it feels like the game just puts you in with whoever. I eventually raised my MMR again and got matched with the same opponents on my trapper that I do on killers I almost never lose with.
-
They will never reveal an exact number because they know it's way too low. The escape rate was 39% for ALL survivors and this was when survivors were stronger. They didn't count games where players disconnected and there was no separate data for SWFs and solo. I think the solo escape rate is probably even lower than people think.

They made matchmaking more strict recently,.. It's been really unfair for casual killers (like myself) who get one too many kills.
I am guessing, you've hit the MMR soft cap as well. Once you hit the soft cap, you'll likely be matched with ppl above it. Unfortunately this often means survs/swf leagues above your MMR who play the game competitively
I am in the same situation. I literally feel helpless going up against the surv I am matched up against.
Sadly you will need to tunnel to stand a chance (like you see in tourneys). The way they've set up MMR strictness, you're no longer playing against casuals. Unless you lose 10 games or so in a row, then you'll get a couple of fair matches before MMR gets strict again.
They definitely reverted this. My killer games are completely random and I get matched with Blights who have thousands of hours as a solo queue player. My matchmaking was only more strict for a few weeks.
-
The worst thing is it's practically basekit at this point. If I get a Myers there's like a 90% chance they will have it.
-
@NerfedFreddy said:
There are no weak killers. Maybe few like Trapper or Leatherface I guess you can define as "weak"
There are like five killers who are actually weak i'd say. Freddy, Trapper, Pig, Legion, and Myers without addons. If people routinely get destroyed as anyone else then it's most likely a skill issue. Even "weak" killers like Clown have good anti loop. I honestly can't take "killer is weak" arguments seriously after watching that group of comp killers winning 90% of their games as an M1 trapper with no power. A lot of people are just coping hard.
-
Five second stun and it should completely freeze the killer's power for 5-10 seconds. There needs to be some sort of special consideration for killers like nurse, blight, spirit, etc. I'd honestly make it 80 seconds so it has better synergy with OTR. Tunneling should be a high risk high reward strategy. Not the guaranteed win that it is now.

P 100 doesn't mean much in my experience. I've faced P100's with flashlights that were mediocre, or even bad. Some even gave up on first hook for no reason.
Plus someone could have a P 100 but be playing on a P 22 character that match.
Hours are more important. I've seen plenty of P100s with under 1000 hours. I saw one recently who only had 500. I think people have a very exaggerated sense of how long it takes to get a character to P100. Every P100 is not a 9000 hour sweat lord and yet people keep pretending like this is the case. The last thing you mentioned is also very true for me. I have a P100 and will often play on a low prestige character to change things up from time to time.
-
I'm not sure why knockout is even still in the game. It's completely useless against SWF and only exists to torture solo players. I've never seen anyone use it for reasons other than slugging and bleeding people out. There is a wraith on NA east who does this for fun. They just bring RPD and slug everyone without ever hooking.
-
I just got out of a match against one. I had to fight the urge to go next for the entire match. To me playing against skull merchant feels like playing against a subtle hacker. haste, hindered, random stealth, etc. It's interesting to me that killers complained so much about MFT's 3% and see no issue with all of the random haste skull merchant gets at various points of the match. Not to mention the free damage that she ALWAYS gets on your teammates in solo queue. The worst part is there is no skill element to any of it. You just get a bunch of stuff for free that other killers have to work for. She is the most braindead killer in the game and practically plays herself. Her kill rate is so high because her kit is way too confusing for any average or below player to understand. There is just way too much going on.
-
It's useless against any remotely competent survivor team. When I play survivor I will wait until the killer hooks before I open the gate. If the gate is already open then good survivors will just run out before you can get the hook. I can't even remember the last time a killer successfully used blood warden against me or my teammates. You'd be so much better off running something like NWO which makes the end game much harder for survivors. Blood Warden usually gets zero value and is a waste of a perk slot. You have to remember that most experienced players have been burned by blood warden before. It's a lesson that you only have to learn once. If the survivors are not experienced then you should easily win before you ever reach the end game anyway.
-
Played against an FTP/Buckle Up + Sabo squad last night. Great fun it was bleeding them out at three gens. Most teams like this aren't especially good and are inefficient at best. They really aren't that hard to beat once you understand the most effective way to play against them. You really shouldn't shy away from games with teams like this if only because of how satisfying it is to turn the tables on them. I genuinely don't mind getting matched with teams like this. At the very least it keeps them from harassing inexperienced players.

I don’t think tanking your MMR would do anything and I don’t think the problem is MMR. I think the problem is that there are not enough suitably skilled killers to be matched against the skilled survivors and matchmaking widens its parameters and in order to have shorter Queues.
The solution is difficult because they’d have to make playing killer more attractive than it currently is for new players. Maybe even advertise the game more. I don’t watch tv anymore and I gave adblockers out the wazoo for my browser so I don’t see commercials anymore. Do they even have dbd commercials?
The tin foil hat in me is more sinister and suggests it’s all intentional so the SWFs who spend $$ on cosmetics can be more happy with their wins and play/buy more. But I’ll file this under intrusive thoughts.
This is odd because have the opposite issue. I get destroyed when I play survivor in solo queue. I still get matched with Blights and Nurse with thousands of hours no matter how many times I lose. My teammates stay mediocre but the killers don't. It's like low or mid MMR killers don't even exist and the game puts us into matches outside of our collective skill level. On the other hand I rarely lose these days on killer. As if there are not enough teams good enough to beat me when I am sweating. This doesn't change regardless of how many games I win either. There is also zero consistency. One game is a competent team and the next is people who have no idea what they're doing. I think the MMR system is just bad and doesn't work unless you are on the extreme low end of the spectrum.
-
The matchmaking is always random for me. Earlier I was matched with a 6000+ hour deathslinger and a 5200 hour P100 ghostface. Then afterwards I got a hag and a pig who played like they just installed the game. It just goes from one extreme to the other. I often wonder if this game even has matchmaking at this point.
-
The game already massively favors the killer in pub matches. I've seen players from various comp teams including Team Eternal say any good killer who is playing to win should win 95% of their matches with all but the bottom five weakest killers. Why people want to make the game so hard for ordinary players is beyond me. Suggestions like this are exactly what would kill the game.
-
I've played him a lot since the rework and the main thing these addons do is make him an even better camper. It actively encourages people to play that way even. It's so easy to get main event now that you're pretty much guaranteed to get it if you just proxy the hook. Then you unleash main event and there's not really anything they can do. Last time I played him I managed to get three people in one unhook scenario without much effort. Trickster camping was always the most obnoxious way he could be played and he's now even better at it. 100%+ duration to main event is way too much. I think beyond this the rework is mostly fine.
-
I 100% think tunneling needs some sort of downside but going out that quickly against an M1 killer is a skill issue.
-
I'd give up nearly anything to get rid of Nurse and Blight.

No. It's just the usual suspects being dramatic as always. It definitely isn't happening in my killer matches and I run a lot of gen perks. This will be like the anti camp where it does absolutely nothing except in EXTREME cases. If anything they are being way too lenient out of fear of reddit killer mains losing their minds.

Don't forget you immediately get tunneled and harassed too
Speak for yourself. I never encounter this issue of being tunneled when I play on my P100. There are probably other reasons at play.
-
They need to stop putting certain challenges in the game. Challenges to cleanse totems and open chests need to go. These outright encourage you to throw the game.
-
No one actually wants to play against other sweaty players where the possibility of losing actually exists. I know this because people lose their mind any time they make the MMR more strict. People start talking about how the game isn't fun anymore when they can't win 100 matches in a row. Most players just want to cruise to easy wins so they can feel good about themselves. Just look at the lack of popularity in comp DBD. Most people just couldn't care less about sweaty gameplay.

If someone doesn't want to play, they're going to find a different way to sandbag. I can promise removing the ability to hook suicide doesn't fix this issue, it just shifts the problem elsewhere. Instead they should look at why people do this and making the gameplay experience better - something they've resolved to not do by killing the casual experience through MMR + solo queue apparently.
Have seen this many times. Person gets unhooked when they are trying to unalive themselves and they just stand in front of the hook until the killer comes back. Either that or they just run to the killer again. I generally agree with the dev sentiment that you can't force people to play. From a rewards perspective I don't think there is currently enough incentive for people to stay in a survivor game that seems to be going badly. I think there are a multitude of problems that make survivors give up frequently
- Low bloodpoint rewards relative to killer
- Easier to depip and much harder to pip which frustrates many people if reddit is any indication
- Match has a much higher chance of being frustrating. Especially true for solo players. Killers can't be deleted from the match and have all of their addons, offerings, etc wasted in the same way
I feel like all of these things have gotten significantly worse since 6.1. In my experience people started giving up more frequently from that point on.
-
It's weird how Behavior hasn't considered how many people are driven away from this game due to hard tunneling. I personally know two casual players who completely dropped the game because of it. They'd try to come back and would get hard tunneled out of almost every match. I'm pretty sure they aren't the only ones either. I've played countless matches where my random teammate is just ruthlessly deleted from the match. I can't imagine it makes them want to continue playing when this probably happens to them on a regular basis. Tunneling doesn't personally effect me a lot but I am much more experienced than an average player. I think at the very least something needs to be done about deleting people at 3-5 gens remaining. This is especially problematic since there are often massive skill gaps in an average solo queue lobby. Scenarios like a killer with 2500 hours hard tunneling a 500 hour survivor. There should be some sort of downside to hooking the same person three times in a row extremely early in the match.
-
This is 100% going to be like the anti camp where it almost never triggers. People flipping out over absolutely nothing as usual.
-
I've played every killer extensively except for Huntress and Billy. Never appealed to me at all. I did their achievements and that was it. On survivor I play Steve, Ace, Nancy, and Cheryl mostly. I don't touch most of the roster beyond that.
