I'd argue this is not as much of an issue anymore. They changed the spawn logic of the gens a bit and now you'll always get 1 gen on the second floor of Myers' House. This one is not as easy to defend as long as the survivors are committed to it.
But you definitely have a point that Haddonfield is in a weird spot. It has some redeeming qualities for killers for all the wrong reasons and is otherwise ridiculously powerful against most killers.
I never played for a 3 gen there.
-
@1ettuce said:
Haddonfield is like one of the dumbest maps ever lol, you got like the main house which is pretty good, 2-3 houses with God windows where you basically can't chase if you don't have a chase power, and the rest of the map is a dead zone. My guess is that this map can be very frustrating for either side but if u know what you're doing you can do really well
As blight I have a strong chase power but once good survivors know it's blight they camp the houses in chase and make it hard to use my power inside.
-
@Jejune said:
The problem is you have 3 gen from the get go. If you are competent enough you will make sure they dont get finished. At which point third of the map is under you surveillance, another third is the road which is a dead zone and the last third are the 3 houses on the other end of the map for which you dont care for.
So this map is survivor sided if they do 2 middle gens first, otherwise its killer sided.
I see, usually i never play into 3 gens unless the survivors did that to themselves, I'll guess i'll try to save these gens when I get this map then.
-
Lmao, go play blight against survivors that know what they're doing and see how "broken" he is. 2 of his addons needs a nerf(C33, alch ring) and that's it.
Maybe, let's nerf spirit, since a 5 year old can pick this killer and get a win streak within 2 days. she has broken add ons and a very easy to use power(I just walk, but faster).

If you do that on my team you are getting reported and a ticket filed for failure to participate in normal gameplay along with a recording.
Lol so scary, now he'd sure to stop lmao.
-
Good you did the smart choice, delete this killer please and never make a power like this again.
-
That's why I play blight, but still sometimes I have to tunnel too when survivors get a good map and I have some mistakes on chase(even small ones against 4k hours survivors is crucial).
-
I'm playing blight against a deadhard less game, better than ever.

Scary how bad survs need their excaution perks. Never liked them, barely used them.
Against most killers you'll still make it to another loop using the free sprint burst after getting hit. If you have a hard time finding loops use WoO. Against Nurse and Blight you need to play different anyway.
It's not about need it's about fun, it breaks the rules a bit and you become faster, it's fun to use perks.

I assume she will be reworked btw, if the mass dc and hook suicide against her will continue.
The devs should never balance around salty players who DC and give up, or said players will use that mechanic to force changes on every Killer they dislike.
DC and hook-DCs should be punished with bans. Not rewarded with changes. You don't give a tantruming toddler the lollipop they want, after all, or you're reinforcing the idea that a temper tantrum can get them what they want.
True, but games shouldnt extend to lengths or 20 minutes or above either just cause the player behind the screen decided to camp 3 gens from the start instead of chasing, cause he doesn't like to chase he liked to win only.

No offense, but your hatred of SM is quite cliche in itself, just learn to play, there must be a killer you personally dislike because offends you in some way, learn to accept that you cant like everything.
SM wont be deleted, wont be reworked, just move on.
My hatred is a shared hatred by the community who knows how scummy SM players play the game, ignoring all the purpose of chase. Luckily after 3k hours I think ive learnt to play quite well in both roles, didn't learn how to break her forced 3 gens with solo queue team or even duo yet :)
I assume she will be reworked btw, if the mass dc and hook suicide against her will continue.

I don't.
It requires her chasing me. Most do not.
She is. A weak killer doesn't automatically mean fun, nor does strong mean unfun. I love Wesker, I hate Trapper. And yet one is strong and one is pure garbage.
What do you mean by respect? She doesn't commit to chases so deactivating the drone doesn't cause any problems and prevents an insta-down if she ever gets the jump on you with her undetectable.
What do you mean by 'too much'? She's miserable to play again. I can guarantee wins every match against her with a SWF. But guess what? These matches still last 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes, on a good SWF. Imagine how bad it sucks in the average public match.
She has the power to aggressively control an area. The exposed opens a survivor to being quickly slugged if they ever dare to commit to a gen for more than 10 seconds. I don't think you're capable of connecting the individual issues to draw the bigger picture. It's concerning.
How do you loop a killer that abandons chase five seconds in?
People do gens. The problem is it takes 20+ minutes on a good team. Nobody is saying she's strong. People are saying she's complete garbage design.
I really don't understand how this is difficult for you to grasp. Even the diehard killer main content creators admit she's total crap.
You're wasting your time with your comments, his cliche takes on the game shows me he's not experienced yet in this game and just goes with mainstream ideas that are shown in this forum.
Everyone and their daugther knows about the SM problem and people who deny it just are lucky enough to never play against one of the hunderds who play like that with this killer.

I mean, isnt she is a very weak m1 killer?
If you think about it, at worst she can expose you through drones, but then again whats so different from Legion for example, his power also effectively exposing you? Or from Plague, where you have 1 health state too? Why drones gets so much respect from survivors?
I dont understand
Never said she's strong, she's boring to point of death. she doesn't play dbd she plays camp 3 gen from 0:001 seconds until your team dies or gives up, that's not dbd that's being annoying and wasting time for people.

I didnt play skull merchant to do that though, I played her to complete a tome archive. Like many other players are trying to do right now. So no by you quitting at the very start of the match you are actively screwing 4 other players.
That's why I wrote up there, to stay and see how to skull merchant plays. don't give up before seeing if it's a SM player that wants to play the game or just an annoying kid who thinks he plays for money to avoid all game mechanics, then it's fine to value your time and move next.
-
@RoastedGarlic said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3419461#Comment_3419461
I value my time as well, and when i have to load up 4-5 games because everyone is quitting now my time has been wasted. Why? Because survivors can't handle playing the game. It's one thing to DC after you've been put into a position where you're actually wasting time and its another to completely screw 4 other players at the very start.
It's the skull merchant player that screws 4 other players by choosing a playstyle that was not intended by the devs just to win, ignoring all game mechanics by spawning and taking a 3 gen hostage and giving up on any chase that is not there until the team dies or gives up. the killer dictates how the match goes, he can camp, tunnel or hold a 3 gen but the latter is the worst offender by miles.
-
You need to run Skull merchant with the perk "Patience" that helps you get the will to hold matches until the server disconnects.
Then you beat everyone ez.
-
It might be, but why you're fighting with yourself? hook up on SM train and camp some 3 gens :3

You have to have people not quit instantly for that to work though. I did complete luckily I found a group of 2 that stayed and I just let farm. They just let me down them both twice and we went on our way.
But it shouldn't resort to that, survivors shouldn't just quit because of a killer. It is ruining the game for everyone who actually wants to play.
It depends, some people have value for their time cause they're very busy. they get an hour or two a day to play and when they see this killer put the drones over gen, they realize it's gonna be that game of waiting 20 minutes to die by 3 gen camp. so they wanna go next, in this case scenario(and only this one, with this trash killer they'e made) I totally understand that and encourage that.
I still believe you should stay to see how the skull merchant plays first so, please confirm please if she's a 3 gen camper.

Lol okay buddy no need to be hostile. You act like there aren't sweaty ass survivors playing like BHVR is personally sending them a $50,000 check when they escape
Sorry it's just that your post wanted to show that you're playing in a special way but you can clearly see how is the general experience of gamers here from the other people that play SM, who aren't you.
Survivors play sweaty yeah but they still have to .. play the game, you know? getting chased, downed, save use perks and such.
She can just go into a match, see a 3 gen, stand there, and win. that's the issue, she plays her own game.

Oh boy, you'll miss those nemesis matches, trust.

I don't like facing a good nemesis either.. but i feel you haven't played against many Skull merchants right?
Before we fix any killer we have to get rid of her first.

I always wonder, does anyone who posts a "delete X" thread actually expect X to be deleted?
Rework, sure, I can get behind that, but actual deletion of a character isn't gonna happen and everyone knows it, so these kinds of threads always come off as venting, at best.
No but it's a nice way to get clicks, ofc she won't get deleted but going there shows how deep the problem is with this killer.

@Veinslay said:
People absolutely do just assume every Skull Merchant is going to hard 3-gen. I played Skull Merchant before the mid-chapter and I took every chase that presented itself, wasn't using overbrine (just eruption), and I wasn't kicking gens incessantly. I got a 4k and afterwards one of the survivors messages me and goes "no more 30 minute games for you after the update you'll have to get good"... the match was like 8 minutes lol. no one even dced or killed themselves. It's like he just got it in his head that's what all skull merchants do and just shut his brain off to what was actually happening
Cool, you're a unicorn, here's a medal.
You're an outlier and most of the SM players aren't playing like u and want to secure a win cause they get money for it, so they camp a 3 gen from the moment the camera zooms around their model when they spawn.

I guess this is what I'm finding frustrating now you mention. I basically didn't have to worry about exhaustion perks before because I only saw lithe, SB etc rarely and could counterplay DH so rarely lost time on chase because of it.
now it's constant every chase a survivor goes tokyo drift mode as I get close.
I feel you, I used to bait DH most of the times until I started to main blight whic his harder cause u gotta commit for a hit many times. now the other perks as lithe, sb are a joke to blight but I remember my pig maining days, can't imagine dealing with 4 lithes into strong tiles.
-
@Piruluk said:
I only care about Dead Hard, playing killer is such a joy now, compared to before, when Dead Hard was a 100% third health state all the time.
I dont care about any other exhaustion perk
Fully agreed, the game feels different and more simple, in a very good way.
-
@Senaxu said:
Sorry but this is a bit ridiculous now. Yes, exhaustion perks are there to give the survivor some distance and can be very powerful when used correctly, but there are many ways to counter them (addons, fearmongers, blood echo,...)
But in principle it doesn't matter anyway if all exhaustion perks are removed from the game or not. There would still be threads after that complaining about how survivors can still walk on their feet and not crawl around like worms like they should.
I get his point tho. a good killer without mobility suffers more from this. people who knew how to counter DH basically made survivors have no exhuastion perks at all while now it's guaranteed.
-
Idk its a killer dependant I guess. I like it better now, more chill and deserved downs are not being taken away by a press of a key.

They think they know. Even if the merchant camps the 3 gen straight away, if they suck then it's not even a 30 min game. People just assume that every merchant plays the same. While we can't deny a lot of them DO play the slough game, fact still is it's a player problem, not on merchant herself.
It's not assuming it's a fact by now, I see it all the time 8/10 SM's are camping 3 gens. I go in a match and ask myself why the killer didn't come to our area so long? then I go and see 3 drones far away and realize "oh again .. nice"

Her power doesn't offer her anything most of time if you don't put them in high traffic areas a.k.a near gens. When you try to put them in other places survivors just don't interact with them at all. When survivors can completely ignore your power until you force their hand by interfering with their objective you're not going to be incentivized to use it in other ways. Play them mid chase or preemptively at strong loop areas and you're rewarded with long chases with no benefits given. You can try to mind game since you get stealth while being in the drone, but pretty much everyone runs away the moment they hear any drone noise so the stealth is wasted. We only get the haste if y'all take a clawtrap, but setting drones out early hoping for folks to disarm them often results in watching your drones just sit around most of the game. The tracking is useful, but only if you're in a position to make use of it and she doesn't have the innate mobility to do so if you're patrolling across these gigantic maps away from your drone areas then you've got no shot of making a play on all that info.
Y'all want people to play the killer in a "more fun" way while she's not built to do that well. It's more fun for you, but less fun for the other human being playing Skull Merchant because your power often becomes a non factor. If you're playing killer it is because you want to have fun using your unique power and her power can only reach it's current potential by being hardstuck to gens so y'all have to deal with them. This why folks constantly complain to the devs to stop making killer powers that put the actual fun aspects in the hands of survivors as a form of counterplay rather than in the hands of player actually using the killer.
It's frustrating because I really like Skull Merchant and the idea she brings to the table can work if I as a player could spend more time using my power rather than being an average m1 killer because no one wants to disarm drones not on gens or because no one is dumb enough to stay in a loop for ten seconds to get exposed if they can just keep running straight.
- Totally agree with your first paragraph, that's why she needs a full rework or be deleted, her power is useless.(unless she wants to ruin the game for 4 people)
- You say you wanna play with that killer but you can't use her power, so why play her from the beginning? you enjoy your power being used on gens for making the game easy for yourself?(not talking directly to you, hyphotetically)
- she wasn't build to do that, people ignore the tracking and aspects of her power because it's useless in the meta gameplay, survivors ignore it as you said. that's why this killer is a failure cause people found not healthy play to win with it.

I'm also talking about way before forever freddy. He had to physically go make people fall asleep, was invisible unless someone was asleep, people couldn't be hurt prior to being asleep. He was a big issue but in a different way. Playing as him was boring and overly difficult. Survivors would often be bored having to spend so much time waking up. Plus there were more ways to wake up easily.
Started to play just after that rework, so if they did it once now they have to do that again.
-
@IWasLeft2Die said:
They have kinda had "delete a killer" before. Freddy was essentially deleted not long after release since he has pretty much nothing from his prior iteration
Even forever freddy days where he was an A - S tier killer days were better than the SM situation. people at least tried and it was very possible to beat Freddy in his glory days. you're a pig main like i was before blight so i know how u feel as sometimes being forced to playing M1, but we have no choice and SM can just hold a 3gen from the beginning like knight players used to do a lot lmao.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3419229#Comment_3419229
True but look at the reason why they say it.
They say it because u know the outcome of the match which is boring. at least against nurse she will destroy u in 3 minutes and u move next but with SM u gotta wait 20-30 minutes or just dc or suicide.
-
@JPLongstreet said:
Those who primarily play killer supporting this idea is in itself concerning...
It's because those are playing survivor from time to time to with their friends, they wanna have fun, this killer is played in anti fun way by 90% of it's players. it was never intended by the devs for any killer to spawn and hold a 3 gen in this game. it's okay to admit you failed as a company and now you have a character who drags every match by 30 minutes until people die or dc.
-
@Rulebreaker said:
If someone hits another with a bat, do you blame the bat or the person? Merchant herself is fine, but the way people play her is annoying. Not worth deleting, reworked maybe, but not deleted.

@Coffeecrashing said:
Blight has the lowest skill floor, by far, because you can just use his power for map traversal, and M1 survivors. And if you mess up a mindgame, and the survivor gets a lot of distance, you can just Blight rush back to them.
Nurse and Spirit are more dependent on using their power to actually hit survivors. And Nurse and Spirit got so many nerfs that I’m seeing way more Blights and Weskers now.
Against the average survivor it won't work, maybe back then in 2019 when people were less good.
Today the average survivor saw 1000 yt videos about looking behind his back and to not camp pallets, I won't like to play M1 killer against that.
Also, when blight enters fatigue, in many situations yo ucan hold W and reach a stronger tile which many survivors do to punish blight. I really really disagree that he has the lowest skill floor, spirit has it by far.
btw, I've forgot to mention that spirit might have the most baby wheel add on in existence, cherry blossom I think that shows you if you touched the survivor while phasing, how broken is that? it makes playing her for beginners even more easier than it already is.
-
Imagine not playing blight, nurse or spirit in this day and age. u wanna suffer?
-
No it's not outdated.
It's to make you rely on your power that is very strong and balnace things out.
Trickster can kill you easily with no high walls.
Spirit's power is literally walking just faster lmao, every child can use that power in 1 minute.
Huntress and deathslinger can shoot you but deathslinger is weaker imo, he can recieve a buff.
Hag is not meant to chase so it's to discourage her to play normally and use her traps.
