  • You sure can the only thing stopping people is their own ego.

I love how people say distortion isnt op or good, and yet those same people run it,

    says a perk is bad.

yet runs it and gets constantly value from it.....

perk is op, give me one reason its not op

    starts at full stacks

you can get stacks back (wtaf)

it hides aurea AND scratch marks

it enables stealth players even more to not only hide all game but screw over there team.

the perk isnt fun for either side, bc survivors who use it use it in the most seflish scumbag way possible, aka letting all there team die and running left behind so they get instant hatch.

You yourself just explained why the perk is terrible it makes it where your teammates die. Escaping through the hatch is not a win it does not raise your elo and if killer gets the hatch first your usually screwed so yea the perk isn't op from a winning stand point. Annoying yes op no. Self explaining why a perk is not op while ranting about it being op now that's irony lol.

The difference in play styles between Asia and Europe and America may be the reason for the difference in perception. You probably don't have the mindset of increasing your own survival rate by sacrificing yourself if necessary and increasing the survival rate of all survivors. This itself is a matter of understanding the game.

It's unfortunate for both you and me.

If you die you're "elo" goes down so this is not optimal gameplay like pulsar said this game is not a team game at its core. So like he said putting yourself in any harmful situation negates an opportunity to just escape with hatch and have a neutral elo fluctuation. In swf this is sometimes diffrent depending on the group but on solo q this game is every man for themselves.

How would you feel if your fun was ruined by a friend's suicide or DC? In that case, you should not complain to anyone. It's your doppelgänger who's stealing your fun.

It happens to me almost 95% of my matches and I don't care because my point isn't to escape the trial its to have fun. I'm not complaining about tunneling and camping I think its fine. My point is it just shows you have little skill since its not needed to win. I haven't had my fun stolen in this game since I quit caring about escaping. My point is though that people find the path of least resistance because they sweat to much and try to min max everything which just kills the game. for them. You cant even see your elo or mmr so you will never truly know you are at high mmr as a survivor unless you play with sweaty swfs and go for escape streaks. Or if you play killer and camp and tunnel both imo very boring gameplay styles which lead to quick burn out and the reason most people come on these forums lol.

Please read carefully. Selfish suicides and DCs are giving up winnable matches. It is extremely bad behavior to think that you have lost the match and complain that your opponent is at fault when in fact you have not lost.

It doesn't mean sweating. Please do not surrender without permission. You are causing trouble for your own allies. "This game is a loss. I'm going to die." "Why? Even though we're about to turn things around?"

Well I don't play to win so whoever's on my team is going to have a bad time anyways I just go to have fun chases and get saves or funny plays. I really could care less about winning in this game it makes it boring who wants to just sit on a gen. In solo que its 1v1v1v1v1 so might as well just make the best out of it and enjoy and just expect to lose its not like this game is call of duty or and fps that really shows skill.

  • @xltechno said:

If you really want to mention tunneling, I'll mention an interesting story I experienced the other day.

I had a chance to watch two Youtube videos on the same day. One is a live 1on1 tournament in Japan, and the other is a video of Japanese people's impressions of playing DBD on Western servers.

First of all, I would like to introduce how do Western players play DBD, unlike Japanese players?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jE3G_4kKxoQ

Since you probably don't understand Japanese, I'll give you a little explanation. Compared to Asians, Westerners play what they think is fun and are more proactive about light rescue and treatment. On the other hand, T-bags and Light clicks are used as greetings, and suicides and amputations are overwhelmingly common.

The reason is that they do it because they don't like it when they can't do what they want to do, or when they are forced to go into a tunnel or camp. However, it is not limited to this, and many people commit suicide or commit DC simply because they are hanged for the first time. Many people run away from situations they don't like, not just tunnels. It's true that he has a fun playstyle, but I feel like he's selfish and doesn't consider the inconvenience to those around them.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFj4yx3hd-I

2nd is the live archive of the Japanese tournament.

This is a competition where both Survivors and Killers compete in a chase to determine who is superior and who is inferior on equal terms. Map luck is involved, but it's fair anyway.

All players are skilled at both Survivor and Killer, and some are better at one or the other. The audience is mostly survivors, but they're also people who understand the game.

I'll leave direct proof to another tournament, but they are serious about the game, and they enjoy it. And not one, not one, complains about the tunnels and camps. Do you think it's a lie? But it's true. There may be exceptions, but if you chant hate, he will be reprimanded. Both the viewers and the players. Because they understands the game and sees the perspective of both the killer and the survivor.

Of course, I am aware that the differences between the West and Asia are due to differences in playing styles and cultures. However, there are some cultures where tunnels and camps are accepted as tactics. No one would ridicule killers who do that as bad killers. No one would ridicule him as the struggle of a bad killer. It is a ritual performed only among novice survivors.

The last thing I would like to mention is that many Japanese people, upon seeing Western games where they neglect generation completion in order to rescue Light, think, ``It's obvious that Survivors can't beat Killer in this way. Without base kits, they can't play."

This includes differences in interpretation, so I won't go into much detail. However, Japanese people do not give up on winning until the end, so they do not commit suicide and experience many situations where they need to recover through self-care botany. And since both tunnels and camps can be conquered, there's no need to give up because of that.

In the West, people give up in tunnels or camps and commit DC or suicide, so there are few chances to recover, and Self-Care Botany is unpopular and is interpreted as a perk for beginners. This is why the evaluation of self-care is 180 degrees different. This is a big discovery for me.

You completely made the point of why the game gets stale not everyone wants to play comp and have to sweat their balls off every match.

  • There's a couple videos on it... I have to find them again but here's even a recent video of pro players playing against each other with no rules and survivors just get ran through. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v68-aGId0Bs&t=1854s ... The only tie the survivors got was because the map and it was still a tie. Also the point that you can go on hundreds plus kill streaks as killers even when the game was super survivor sided shows you can win with decent game sense and without having to tunnel and camp.

What do you think my escape rate would be if I used this build regularly

Escape rate means nothing unless its out the door you'll just stay in bot low mmr playing like that. So of course its easy but its not a win or a true escape according to the mmr system.

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3658147#Comment_3658147

So you admit you don't play killer and call it the side of "easy wins" despite it being 6000x more stressful than survivor. I can bring a key and Urban Evasion around for a 100% escape rate, that's an easy win.

That's not a win you're mmr doesn't go up for that. Also most people in the community consider a 3k a loss.

  • Most of the comp community and a large group of people did a test where they 12 hooked people and didn't tunnel or camp but ran strong add-ons and obviously they are in the top MMR bracket so they have good game sense and they all won at about 90-93% of the games.... It can also just be shown how killers go on hundreds of game win streaks without having to camp or tunnel. Even The top comp squads haven't even broken the 400 win streak mark as survivor.

  • @gatsby said:

I will start this by saying this. My experience is not the same as everyone else’s and I do play at higher MMR. I do play Killer and Survivor and will approach this from both perspectives.

From Killer perspective, tunneling is only optimal if you find the “weak link” early on in the match. Trying to tunnel an above average Survivor early in the match will cause them to run to the strongest portions of the map while most of the pallets are still up. If you’re going to tunnel, it has to be a Survivor that doesn’t have great map awareness and is a weaker looper. Otherwise, it simply takes too long burning through god pallets and main building loops. In endgame, there’s no reason to chase anyone else and the face camping penalty and anti-tunnel perks are disabled. Its quite literally the game design to tunnel at that point.

From the Survivor perspective, with good game sense (or Widows of Opportunity), being tunneled early in the match gives you the ability to take the Killer on some long chases. Most of the pallets are up and you can abuse the strong, safe parts of the map to buy your teammates time to work on generators. Its actually a big positive because if you’re the first chase no one else has used anything so you probably won’t get stuck in a dead zone due to a missing filler pallet. Late game, tunneling is a legitimate strategy. There are more dead zones and the Killer has already lost a of a generators, so there’s a lot more pressure to get someone out of the game. It doesn’t feel great to be the Survivor thats singled out but late game its pretty normal.

Show proof you play at high MMR show me your MMR or Elo number.

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3661255#Comment_3661255

They're playing against bads because it's mathematically way out of the killer's favor to have a 12-hook game. That relies entirely on survivor incompetence.

Not really even most people at high MMR have done tests and without the comp rules they win 90% of their games.

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

The problem is that the killer can't afford a 12-hook game. If you distribute hooks even and be Mr. Nice guy, you will be absolutely clowned on

If they flat out make the survivor un-tunnelable, killer would be such an uphill battle it wouldn't be worth playing.

Then why is it so easy for almost everyone I know to either 12 or 9 hook?

  • His name is Jim.

  • @Crowman said:

We're getting a new chapter that has both a killer and survivor. Balance changes are focused on minor buffs to killers alongside a nerf to mangled (something survivors have been asking for). Just because you don't see any direct buffs to survivors, doesn't mean you have nothing.

But also, not every patch needs to give both sides "things to look forward to".

yea but its been like over a year since survivors got anything worth while cage and wake were both let downs and nothing else has been done the face camping mechanic was a joke and the only thing that has happened for survivors is the game got harder.

  • @Shroompy said:

Title, ever since the beginning this has been one of the worst parts of Solo Q and there hasnt been any hint of the devs doing anything about it. Worst part is it goes around the disconnect penalty, and doesnt even leave the rest of the team with a bot which is without a doubt better than nothing.

Making it reportable would not only deincentivize people from dcing, but also punish repeat offenders. I cant see how this is a bad thing

Now before you all say "but there are certain times where its the correct play!!" and to that I say bodyblocking. It is also a punishable offense, but only if it holds the game hostage. It is VERY clear when it is used strategically and to hold the game hostage. Killing yourself on hook is also VERY obvious when it is done to throw the game.

If its not made to be reportable, then come up with a solution.

it wouldnt matter if people dont want to play then they will just go afk.

I wouldn't take for granted that people need to win in order to have fun. A lot of people don't -- especially in a game like DBD where you don't get any special reward for wins. I've lost this game many times and still had fun playing the match.

Same but were not talking about the game we are talking about human nature. The lights out mode confirms it. Why would a killer need to camp and tunnel when survivors literally have nothing lol.

  • To the OP no not really because people play games to win you're not having fun in a game if you're losing.

Imagine cod and you aren't getting any kills and getting pub stomped. Or hell even Pokémon imagine dying to the same gym leader 1000x wouldn't be much fun.

  • @Astel said:

I don't think so? I saw some people posted Youtube videos with no problem. And there is also button to put media like youtube video in the post. I think you will be fine.

Ahhh your right they got rid of the media share area im used to the old forum still.

  • Probably not there's a media channel on this forum... some entity named eq is going to probably nuke this post and move it somewhere.

  • Yea it increases how fast the flash happens so it ruins the timing of a blind(sometimes). Don't listen to them about one at a time so many people miss saves its not even funny shoot your shot most of the time 2 people wont have a good angle. I have literally gotten saves because people are trying to save and just are new at it and don't know the timing, Or they just have a bad angle or don't hit the face fast enough.

  • Killer is so easy when you start I don't know what to tell you...Maybe just play more and learn the role.

I don’t see how you don’t see as survivor not completing all gens and getting hatch as a free escape…it’s not really a free kill the killer wiped the floor with the team. The team lost…if hatch spawned we lost if all 5 gens aren’t done. Its a free escape…that a singular survivor has the possibility of getting…for their side losing.

Well if that is the case then camping bar should still fill at end game since survivors destroyed the killer. also ds should work and otf.

  • @HeroLives said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3646408#Comment_3646408

Put on a timer to finish the gen and get out similar to egc in the event of.

also that’s just a rude thing to do, there’s nothing to be gained from that other than being in trial longer doing nothing. Sounds boring on both ends.

So you just want a free kill got it.

So what I play how I want.

  • It will do the complete opposite if I was the last survivor and there was no hatch I would just hide and waste the killers time for as long as possible to make them miserable.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3644715#Comment_3644715

Tunneling at 5 gens is blaming the killer for something that is the fault of the survivors. If the killer is chasing 1 survivor, you have 3 survivors who can work on gens. Assuming relatively equal skill on the killer and survivors, survivors should have at least 1 gen done by the time the killer gets the first hook.

So if the killer is capable of tunneling out a survivor without any gens getting done, the survivors messed up.

    tell that to corrupt intervention.

  • @radiantHero23 said:

Another reason for me to not play this gamemode. Is it just me or is it also super frustrating for you others to just walk around and lose gens?

I like chases. Hide and seek isn't my thing.

How are you losing gens this has been the easiest mode for me as killer ever I think the most gens I've lost is like 2 but usually only one.

  • Lightborn is fine... though i do see how a perk countering the ability to continue in the tomb is pretty stupid.

  • to not get hit by it act like you are going toward the locker and back up do this multiple times until they jump out. You can also ignore them and once a crow appears head on isnt active but this takes a while.

In other words, it might have seemed better to you, but it wasn't. But of course, when we don't like changes, we always look back with rose-tinted glasses, it's human nature.

I dont really care about mmr being in the game so that makes no sense saying i dont like change my whole point is more people cheat now.

  • again guess your missing my point i never said its the sole reason but i know most of the people i play with all started trying harder after mmr came out.

So you would rather have all players thrown into a pool, first come first serve? That's what happens without an MMR system. So a new player queues up brand new first game, and they are going up against Otzdarva doing a Win Streak Run with Nurse, currently at 157. How is that game going to go for that new player? While the MMR system isn't perfect, it keeps thins like that from happening.

I have 4k hours and encounter people with 100 hours or 10k hours the mmr system doesn't even work properly. All it does is encourage sweaty play and cheating. With all the flaws the old system we had it was still better. MMR is rotting this game.

  • @Crowman said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3638770#Comment_3638770

People were tryharding before mmr was introduced. You also never see anyone say they must 4k or have a 4 man escape bc they want to raise this invisible number.

With or without mmr, people will cheat and tryhard bc they want to win.

Yea but when mmr was introduced my point is more people started try Harding and cheating also the "invisible" number isnt invisible to cheaters. My point being they find people who take this game very seriously and cheat to troll them because they know how seriously they take it. I never said that no one cheated or try hard before MMR what I'm saying is it made it more encounterable after mmr was introduced.

  • @Crowman said:

No one is cheating due to MMR. There's no leaderboard or even a visible number that you could use to gloat. There's no benefit from raising an invisible number.

so do you thinkm the leader board aspect stops people from try harding ? and so you are saying mmr never brought try hards then with that comment

  • @ratcoffee said:

People cheated before MMR was a thing

i already stated that in op.

    @oxygen said:

If they cheat because of an invisible number that turns into a mere suggestion the moment someone waits 0.0042 seconds too long in queue or dodges, they'd probably cheat anyway.

ive seen a huge increase in cheaters....in pre mmr the games were way less sweaty and yes they might have cheated before but now its a guarentee so they can get a rise out of people mmr brings out competitiveness and trolling people with cheats makes them mad when they have something to lose in the game like mmr.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

People do not cheat because of MMR, for one, MMR doesn’t exist, whatever version we have of it in DBD is little more then a glorified slot machine, and for two, people were cheating far, far before MMR was ever implemented

The real reason people cheat is simple, attention, they want you to be upset, they want messages on their profiles, they do not give a ######### about MMR, they simply want you to feel like ######### regardless of whatever matchmaking system this game uses

existing or not its all about if people think its real if you said tomorrow mmr is turned off i 100% guarantee games will be less sweaty not all of them but the majority of them.

  • @Astel said:

There would be people who would cheat anyway no matter whether MMR is good or not.

Nothing can justify using cheating in any cases.

no ones justifying it im saying that mmr makes people use cheats more because they know it will get under peoples skin more in a competitive setting.

  • @Firellius said:

Pretty sure we had plenty of cheaters before SBMM was introduced though. DBD just doesn't have the security or moderation to tackle the problem.

And didn't they also dish out free copies of DBD on Epic, spawning boatloads of burner accounts?

I literally said i understand there were cheaters before my point still stands.

  • @Seraphor said:

MMR is already less of a reason to sweat.

You can't see your MMR, you can't prove what MMR you're at, you can't show it off. All it does is give you tougher matches.

Wanting higher MMR is completely irrational.

That's incorrect just off of human nature and incentive for winning if you are put up against a challenge you try harder its basic psychology for a lot of people.

  • @Astel said:

There would be people who would cheat anyway no matter whether MMR is good or not.

Nothing can justify using cheating in any cases.

I understand that but it gives more of a reason to cheat. If you didn't understand what I meant by trolls

  • @Nazzzak said:

I think it's simply an ego thing. They don't cope well with losing. Possibly has something to do with real life inadequacies.

Which feeds into the mmr system if there's no mmr system you can manifest an imaginary ego which is kind of like the non transparency on ELO numbers. MMR still causes the inflation of an ego or spawning of an ego for winning. I also understand some people dont need an mmr system to have an ego. I just feel like it encourages an ego in people who would regularly not have one.

  • @Beano744 said:

I feel horrible just killing the rest of the team after one person gives up first hook, but I also don't want to spend an extra 10 minutes farming with the rest of the survivors. I want to play the game, and survivors giving up makes me feel really bad for the rest of the team. If I play 10 games a night of killer (I play mainly PHead and Bubba) 4 of those games will have one person giving up early on.

I just don't know how to handle it, because I play survivor and if someone gives up I see it as a major middle finger to the rest of us, because it basically guarantees the loss.

How do you killer mains handle this? And how do you survivor mains expect the killer to handle this?

Dont feel bad some people die on hook so they can get to the next game some of us are playing for challenges or to get clips for videos people need to start just playing this game for fun. I remember i was trying to get a dredge for a thanks giving videos and probably let go like 50 times that day.

  • @fussy said:

While whole community crying about tunneling, i want to ask: why it's bad that killer forces his objectives, but "oh well what else should we do", when survivors do the same?

Completely ignore everything in game because of 4 Resi, 4 Adrens? Oh yeah, these 4-5 minutes matches are completely fair

I'm so tired of being punished for non-tunneling with 4 Adrens, really. (No, Terminus is not good perk against it and i don't want undeserved kills because of NOED)

4 toolboxes with BNP? Sure thing, gen tunneling doesn't exist you stopid killah mains

3 gens done by first hook every second game? 8% of killer's objectives vs 60% of survivor's objectives? Oh your chases are bad. What, it's *popular killer main streamer* match? Oh, survivors are just better than

I mean, all these questions are rhetorical, i know how it's going on both sides and why it's a case. All i want is so people remember that both sides can complete their task crazy fast. And if you want to punish one side for doing their job on a game level, you can't don't do the same for other.

So when i read something crazy like "make basekit DS 10 seconds on both hooks without consp. actions" and don't see "also basekit 60 sec Deadlock and 50% pain res" from some people here pretending both sides players, I always laugh really well from that.

Game really need to be slightly slower on both sides imo. But it also can't be "party game", when game is literally one side competing another and both want to win.

well the reason why is because its kind of a easy way to win which needs to be fixed like ftp and buckle up or the new grim meta coming or mft...its a reason to complain about because it lacks skill. I understand people will always min max everything especially in a game with an mmr system. but that's the main reason, its in the game just like face camping was and pretty much still is and until there's a way to fix the problem people will complain.

  • @Morboth said:

With the removal of Facecamping, the basement has become quite useless, if not almost an outright nuisance. Right now it serves little to no purpose, other than camping from afar. I wholly support the removal of facecamping in all of the other hooks, but the basement should be exempt from this rule. Indeed, right now you have to keep track of how far you are from the hooked survivors even if one story above them and there is always the risk that getting another survivor to the basement will let the previous one(s) off the hook. Plus, it would make playing the basement fun and unique!

That's the whole point to get rid of face camping till all gens are done.

  • well I don't use it as a survivor because its completely broken. I don't even see how it didn't get fixed before mft. It shouldn't worry you because its a known issue and needs to be fixed. This coming from a 100% survivor main who has never played killer in 4k hours.

  • @ChaosWam said:

There was nothing about MFT that led to smart or original combos, it was just a broken haste perk with no limit while injured. I was able to loops most killers pairing it with no mither and didn't feel in danger 90% of the time.

so then youre saying buckle up ftp is a fine perk then or the blood pact build?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It seem's this perk's function is being overlooked, this perk is rather useful in situations where the only resources are those around a generator being worked on by teammates, 36m is also literally larger than every killer's terror radius (except wesker), 110% killer's will suffer slightly more against this, survivors working on generators can easily abandon the generator normally if the killer drops chase and starts going towards the generator, the survivor running it also get's to see the generators as well so they can plan there chase around it. Playing chases right, you can support your team and hurt the killers pressure somewhat more by playing well.

Honestly Quick Gambit is just old Spine Chill 2.0, but the repair speed bonus is activated by the survivor and not the just ht ekiller looking in the survivors direction.

    Terrible perk just bring prove

same could be said about killers remember mft.

  • well with the game having record low numbers 28k since 2020 they better hope that the new game mode brings people back or else this game is gonna be in a really bad spot.
