There's different hook designs? I've never noticed other than Xenomorph unique hook design that only appears when she's in the map or alien map.
Yes actually! All realms have their own hook design with the exception of Dvarka Deepwood which has unique hook designs for each of its two stages.

The game still fun for the most part. i feel killer and swf is a blast to play still. i can usually play for 4 to 5 hours and not get bored. As for that other role i don't won't to speak on it really anymore. but I'll sum up the state in killer terminology. solo q isn't viable!
Solo q isn’t viable? What are you talking about just use the god pallets you told me about on RPD and the top floor of Hawkins 😂

I’m very happy with Survivor. It’s thrilling and suspenseful. Hiding around the map behind different objects trying to avoid the Killer is really fun.
As to the Devs caring? I mean, obviously they do. I think it’d be crazy to think that they don’t care about a role. We have base kit BT, anti-face camp, and now anti 3-gen. How does this not come from a place of caring about the experience of a role? On top of that we keep getting new perks that help build new play-styles like Sable’s invocation perk. If I was a Dev I would be excited to show my labor of love to the community. It’s actually kind of sad how much ingratitude gets thrown at them. Yes I believe 100% that they care about the role and the game.
Survivor is perfect right now at 40% escape rate. Again “survival is not guaranteed” but soo many Survivors act like it is. It’s a form of entitlement that’s proved with how much 4%ing happens.
As to teammates handicapping the match, then at that point it becomes a game of hiding and enduring. Waiting out the other Survivors and outlasting them hoping to get the hatch. And if you can’t get the hatch or don’t have a key then there’s one last face-off against the Killer for the gate. It’s so intense.
In the event that the Killer gets a 4K that’s great too because that means everyone got interaction time with the Killer with the chance to run pallets and windows. It’s a win-win in my eyes.

Yes, thats the reason. Same reason why Blight is #1 most fun killer on recent surveys. Because Blight, as we all know, is extremly weak and is very easy to play against.
/s
Oh yeah thanks for the reminder, Blight too! 59% kill rate smh 😂

Because he was easy! 😂

Love the colors and hook designs. The hanging lanterns and upper height foliage are great.
I feel like I am on an estate grounds with all the shrines around the main house. There’s a definite feeling of sadness. Like there are ghosts in the air.

There's no real need for it. People can send messages if they really wanted to, and the idea of putting it in to "see how everyone acts" comes across as it being placed there as a social experiment than a genuine desire to send good vibes to everyone.
It’s so strange isn’t it? How negativity is in greater magnitude than the positivity. Not just in quantity but in quality.
On the negative side you have insults galore.
On the positive side you have what? “gg”? Even when a really nice message or compliment is typed out it seems so under appreciated.
This is why I am in anonymous mode, because what’s the point in exposing your name to risk when there’s so much downside and hardly any benefit or no real camaraderie?

Survivors dont expect to survive from staying in Killer's face all match. Killers do.
- Survivors complain about tunneling not because they're not able to escape, but rather not able to fully play the game. I rarely get complaining from death survivors when I dont tunnel (I never tunnel). So Survivors expect to survive from staying in Killer's face all match is not true.
- Killers, saying survivors just dont get two tapped (dont down and die) then survivors complain about tunneling. What killers mean survivors not to get two tapped?
Oh btw, the tunneled survivor "staying in Killer's face all match" is killer's decision.
I’m sorry to hit a nerve. I appreciate your contributions and never mean to ruffle feathers.
In my matches I notice that Survivors expose themselves unnecessarily to the Killer quite often. Naturally the Killer will go for them. It’s actually uncannily common in my games for 2+ Survivors to give the Killer free time by staying at the hook a Killer is guarding often times trying to provoke a chase. Maybe they are trying to get the Killer away from the hook but instead it results in a lot of unnecessary downs and hooks. That’s not even mentioning the Survivors that window spam to get the Killer’s attention. It’s just so counterproductive to survival.
In a large majority of my games it’s as if Survivors want to play chase instead of survival. It’s like hiding is too boring so they get into chase because it is more fun. I am on console so I don’t know what the interactions are in chat after but I would be surprised if insults of tunneling etc. weren’t thrown around despite the impatience I witness from them during matches. I’m sure many Killers get accused of tunneling even when they are not.
These are things that I personally have observed when I play as Survivor. Other Survivors thinking that the game can be won as a game of tag vs a game of hide and seek.
-
Another thing that I’ve noticed when it comes to tunneling is how often my Survivor teammates put themselves in positions to be tunneled. They swarm the Killer hoping to what? Outplay and embarrass the Killer? AND escape? Does hiding as a tactic require too much attention span now?
In the vast majority of my Survivor games reseting is not even a thing even when there’s soo many opportunities for it. The Killer gets so much free time juggling Survivor after Survivor because my counterparts seem to think they’re all looping legends.
People don’t even have the patience to heal far from hook smh.
Players seem to think that they can get in the Killer’s face all match and still expect to Survive. It’s crazy.
-
Extremely brave theme wise to do a snow map. It definitely payed off for sure. The secluded feeling is expertly pulled off as daytime horror. I love the darkness of the resort lodge itself how it contrasts with the brightness outside. Run down, a place where people used to be happy. Amazing.
Love the map. I also love the holiday decorations. I would love to see another map for this realm.

I had two games today that stood out.
- The first game was against Ghostface. I spawned in next to a Leon and right away we were just making our characters’ heads go all crazy in circles and nodding.
- The second game today was against a Wesker on Dead Dawg. It was down to just two Survivors, me and a Thalita. The Thalita was hiding and not doing gens. I was trying my best to get them completed. I would make some progress, then sneak over to another, rinse and repeat. In the process Wesker found her and she ran him over to my generator. He completely ignores me and runs the loop around me like four times trying to get her lol. After he downs her I beg for her life and he grants my wish. After that he helped me run some of the pallet loops then gave me the door afterwards. It was so fun going from pallet loop to pallet loop getting practice in.
Like others I wish console had game chat so I could thank people for wholesome games.

Shack, GoJ main building and Groaning Storehouse main building probably qualify. As well as 2/3 of all pallets on The Game.
Shack has 3 check spots, where you can simply wait and watch the killer. One inside and the 2 corners of the wall with the window. The Groaning Storehouse is just ridiculous. That one window can make you lose chase, if you have a bit of distance to the killer. GoJ's main building is pretty straight forward. You have the dining room window and the one in the corridor. As long as you get fast vaults there is pretty much no way the killer will hit you before at least one of them is blocked. And then you still have the pallet, which can completely reset the entire chase.
Oh okay gotcha. Thank you for the help! 😊

Through the window next to the breakable door, going into the building, then down the stairs and through the doorway to the left. You can jump the railing at an angle for a fast vault, then go back up the stairs and repeat. It can be weakened, as HaunterofShadows mentioned above, though there's also a breakable wall that can strengthen it though this has only happened to me once. It's a simple loop but I've had killers give up on me while doing it, hence why I like it lol
Oh wow that’s awesome! 😊 Thanks for the info! I can’t wait to try it 😈

Very well put, thank you for this.
You’re welcome.
At the same time @Alice_pbg feels very passionate about this obviously and I see you were trying to throw them a bone when you mentioned that “you yourself called this scummy”. But maybe more consideration would have cooled down the conversation.
I get it, you are simply stating facts. And it feels crazy that simply stating facts can be so misunderstood. But they actually were being misunderstood as a defense. And I get it, someone else’s understanding is not your responsibility. At the same time if you are serious enough about sincere communicative clarity which judging from your replies I believe that you are, then sometimes we have to meet people more than half way and give them some sugar to help the medicine go down. It’s a win-win situation and it gets us out of stalemate positions.

you said "it's a scummy thing to do" and then you defended it... because you don't need to think it's good to defend it. just gotta give it a reason to be. which you did.
"dirty job, but the pay is good". we both agree on the job being dirty, but you say the other part and don't realize it's a defense to it.
so, just gonna say this, STOP. all you are doing is distracting from the people YOU think are the only ones defending fomo. wasting the time of the others who are replying to you with things you apparently agree with. and you are defending all this crap while doing it.
I understand what you are trying to say. And I understand that it seems like @Nebula is defending something many of us disagree with.
But the truth is that it is fully their right to defend the practice if that is how they feel.
However I understand where @Nebula is coming from. They are not making a judgement call (well they did, in your favor actually). They are instead explaining why it exists. They said they were not trying to defend scamming or scalping.
And I know that you know this. But in your eyes giving it any room to exist is a form of defense. And in some extreme cases the game can be played that far.
@Alice_pbg I see how it looks like they have a bias towards these practices. But again the idea is true and we have to truly face it if we want to change it. People want and put up with what they allow. Scalpers exist because demand exists. It’s an ugly truth but it is still true. It is also true that scalpers kill hobbies because they buy everything up so that only a few can actually afford to enjoy the hobby. The only way this can change is by an “unrealistic” coordination effort. I put “unrealistic” in quotes because it really feels that way since as consumers we have accepted this. Our acceptance has led to how micro transactions have been accepted over the years which have led to the “optimized for profit” system we have today.
Yes good faith has been abused. Yes trust has been broken. But we are not as consumers rewarding all businesses who do not do this. This is what us accepting it looks like. There’s also the people at bhvr trying to make an honest living, even if the company’s survival tactics feel unethical.
@nebula was just trying to point this truth out. Maybe they are a little bit jaded seeing consumers continue to let these things happen but the truth is the truth.
And I even personally agree with you on how negative this business practice is. It doesn’t feel good and many of us do not like it at all. But there’s a better way of doing this and it starts with us accepting the ugly truth. That ultimately we let it happen.

I have a different take on tunneling than most…
Thematically, I love the idea that a Killer can have a vendetta against a Survivor. I love that a Nemesis on RPD can have tunnel vision for the Leon that spawns into the match.
However, as it exists it causes too much frustration for the person being tunneled. It sucks having to wait so long to queue up and load into a match just for it to maybe last less than 5 minutes. But then again, the whole “Survival is not guaranteed” thing is true too and helps build thematic tension.
I’m not sure what the answer is… Super Endurance? Idk but I wish there was something that changed it a little bit.
-
I would have to say cheating and bleeding everyone out.

My absolute favorite map is Garden of Joy. I love the story, the details, the colors, everything. I love the feeling it gives me. Plus on the scary side there is an air of foreboding which gives off an eerie sense of disquiet. I think I’m going to feel the same about Greenville Square. I already love the birch trees so much. I suppose the Withered Isle is my favorite realm 😌
Runner-up maps would be:
- Hawkins because I love the show. It feels really fun to explore the lab.
- Both Yamaoka levels. Again the color scheme just really speaks to me. I love all the wooden decor along with the hook designs. I also love all of the plants in the level.
- Eyrie of Crows because there’s a quiet stillness out in the sand areas. I also really enjoy the surreal quality of the library.
I can go on and on but these are my top favorite maps.

Because it is gatekeeping.
The value of your skin does not decrease just because someone else has it. Someone else having it, does not take anything away from you. All you are doing with these types of things is creating a sense of superiority over others because "i have it and you don't"
That’s the problem isn’t it? That sense of superiority of exclusivity is the thing of value that people get from this. They do feel that the value decreases based off of other people having it.
But like you I don’t agree with it. In fact I also believe that the “superiority” shouldn’t be a thing of value in the first place when it comes to Dbd cosmetics. Developing a system like this grooms and encourages players to think and feel this away. I’m firmly against that.
-
Yes I believe it has gotten too fast.
When I want to play longer lasting games I will slug when playing as the Killer. I won’t even hook, I’ll just slug and go on to find the next Survivor.
I have found that this slows the game down for me. The dying Survivors are not picked up as quickly as they are unhooked.
If I find that I have slugged all four then I will let one wiggle free to revive everyone else. During that time I will go and kick generators and then start chasing again.
It’s not optimal play for getting kills since you are in more chases but the time saved from hooking Survivors does add up when it comes to building pressure.
I don’t get many kills at all playing like this but the games do last a lot longer- for me at least.
-
My number one is the Dredge for sure.
Runner-ups would be:
- The Spirit
- The Oni
- The Knight
After The Unknown releases they may have a spot as well.

A long time ago I used to be a big collector and I did like owning something I knew was a rare and no longer available but now it just doesn't bring me joy, pride or whatever emotion you want to describe you feel when you have something someone else doesn't have. I just don't care for it now. Especially when it comes to digital products. It's just fake scarcity.
Personally it’s difficult for me to enjoy something that someone else wants but can’t have. It’s like being at a party where there is room for more, but some people are locked outside just looking through the windows.
It inherently feels wrong to me.

I think because trying to be unique in an online multi-player game isn't much of a thing.
I mean yeah I have almost every rare cosmetic, and there is deep rift too...but I think content should be accessible to everyone. Just because they're new doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to get it, I am not a fan of FOMO and don't fall for it. I only get stuff I actually like.
I think everything should be available to everyone too.
A game’s total amount of available expressive options should be part of a game’s appeal. It should be a showcase for onboarding new players.
Having so many avenues of expression locked behind a “look but don’t touch” mindset is just too cruel and pretentious.

There’s some things that I don’t see eye-to-eye with you (and that’s okay!).
But on this subject I fully agree with you. I’d rather games be a peaceful oasis instead of a Las Vegas casino.
-
I agree with most people here. I personally do not enjoy limited run items.
I'll do my due diligence and give the opposition its best argument.
Sure, I understand why some items are just for the “veterans” of the game. You’ve played since the beginning. You’ve dedicated your life to this game since the beginning. While other people have been jumping around playing/doing other things you have been stalwartly loyal to DBD. And of course you want respect for that. You want something to show for that. I get it. But loyalty cosmetics encourage at best what? Besides the pride of loyalty, a whale consumer to keep spending? Splurge spending to keep the company afloat when normally less spending would take place? The one gray area I can see are anniversary events. I’m thinking that anniversary events are the one area that most of us are willing to compromise. Maybe all anniversary events could look slightly different from each other or something.
Generally, I don’t think these things are justification enough to keep the majority of the player base looking longingly at things they can never have. And I don’t think most “veterans” who love this game want that for the newcomers or for even some of the newer “veterans”. I know that I personally wouldn’t want that for newer players.
The internet, digital games, and digital sphere are still very new to us as a species. Sure we had imagination and dreams before that but the digital phenomenon is like the dream world in the real world. And surprise! We need as many degrees of freedom as possible to express ourselves as fully as we want in the digital realm. I fully believe that it is a human right to fully express ourselves in any way that we choose, not just in the physical world, but the digital world too.
In finality, I firmly believe that prior cosmetics, charms, banners, badges, etc. should be made available for the player base. There is a certain peace of mind that can come from a satisfactorily expressed digital self. We would also see more expressions of individuality which imo is a good thing overall.

It’s unfortunate how easy and rewarding it is to spread negativity instead of positivity. It’s unfortunate how much easier it is to tear something down than it is to build something up. It’s easier to see how something could be wrong than it is to see how something can be true. We each have our own worldview and it’s easier to see what doesn’t fit in our own eyes than to see how something can fit in the eyes of someone else. It takes less imagination to say no. It takes more imagination to say yes. As humans we are stuck inside the easiest decisions.
“When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.”
”The silence of good men isn't the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil. The persons advancing the evil, whether in command or the rank-and-file, must be strong and determined; and the lukewarm must be either cowed into submission or willing to go along because the evil seems to prosper.”
In these situations the person is “infected” with negativity and they spread it wherever they exist like a virus. They LIVE with the negativity and it sometimes spreads to others and makes others become that way too. It’s a tragic curse to be sure for the one committing the toxicity. Often times they are in suffering and the toxicity is the manifestation of the suffering. They insult you in one game, but they are the ones who carry the insulting behavior with them everywhere they go.
My grand solution to this phenomenon? Kill them with absolute kindness, compassion, and empathy. Never fight back, sympathize and guide them towards peace no matter how much chaos they carry with them. See how you can say “yes” first instead of saying “no” right away. If they insult you; “trash killer”, “ez noob”, “nah, ur bad”, “POS Killer tunneling” etc. it’s best to respond along the lines of; “I’m sorry you feel that way, I hope you had fun!”, “Well, hope your next match is more fun for you”, “You were fun to play against” “I’m sorry you didn’t have fun. I hope you have a good day regardless” etc. Maybe even complement their cosmetics.
Regardless you can’t change someone else who doesn’t want to change. And the only person you can control is yourself and how you react. As social creatures toxicity hurts. Pain and suffering are like infections that spread. People get treated bad and learn how to treat others bad. Use the negativity as an opportunity to platform the positive. It’s tiring and can feel unrewarding but the existence of positivity is its own reward. With so much toxicity that exists there is a high demand for respect and kindness.
We can’t win on logic. There is no leverage. We instead have to appeal to their higher nature and inner humanity.

I think the community likes to overhype something that isn't confirmed a lot, which is why I held my breath until release.
Looking at the times it was teased, it's clearly using animations from the lobby just edited in the doorbell camera teaser.
The tent teaser is interesting though. It had what looked like a second mouth and eyes, which possibly either means a skin that will come with it, or it implies the creature swaps it's skin depending on who it attacks.
The mori shows it absorbing Survivors into blood/life force. Maybe it shapeshifts?

I'm on console 😥, but I've been watching a lot of stuff.
Apart from the killer's long neck, which doesn't work for me, I like it. It wasn't what I originally envisioned, but after taking it in, I think it's good. The disturbing, contortion-ey way it moves, coupled with the tentacles that erupt out of random parts of its body, really gives me "homicidal parasite wearing its victim as a skinsuit" vibes. It's cool.
I think BHVR's complete refusal to give us anything solid about its lore helps as well. Everything that I believe is true about it comes from in-game context clues. The weird parasitic extensions that appear out of random parts of the body and the fact that it somehow turns its victims to dust is what makes me think the body is a victim its wearing. Someone on Otz's stream even suggested that some of its voicelines are things it heard from the movies, which suggests the map is its favorite stalking grounds.
I actually like its power. The hallucinations add a teleport feature that doubles as some genuine psychological horror. I've already commented on how the UVX tentacle is implemented physically, but I think that its in-game functionality is actually perfect from a design point of view. Coding it to work like a mortar makes it stand alone among killer powers, similar to Singularity's biopods, and gives it really high skill expression. It also completely undermines typical looping rules with its bankshots. There are going to be some wild clips.
My only problems are its walk animation, which makes it look like its prancing around, and the axe. I'm sorry, but the axe just seems like a cliché that was randomly thrown in.
All in all though, can't wait for March 12th!
From the voicelines I think it did assimilate(?) the people from the theater because a lot of the voice lines do make sense in the context of a theater. It’s just soo unnerving.

Is it interpreting a face or is it wearing someone's skin? I havent read the lore yet but I assumed it was the latter
It looks like it is literally wearing a face but that smile looks super… idk how to put it… like it’s imitating what it thinks “normal” looks like. Like it’s making the skin smile like that… ugh it’s so scary to me! I haven’t read the lore so I don’t know for sure but how it mimics voices makes me think this. Like asking if you’ve seen its dog…
Idk it’s just so weird! Like it’s saying things that don’t always make sense. It may be using the memories of the people it inhabits. It says things that maybe pertain to what it actually is, or its history.
Edit: It could also be that the people it inhabits are still kind of conscious or alive still 😧😨😱

One of my favorite things about this game is learning who the Killer is! My mind starts weaving a scary story. Where are we? What is the story behind the Killer being here? What are the other Survivors like?
It’s so so much fun. It could even be the same Killer with a different skin that makes the story completely different! Omg I love this game ☺️☺️☺️❤️
-
I love map offerings for the specific map aesthetics ☺️
-
My most evil Killer build?… It is kind of evil…
I love it when matches last longer than usual. Not exaggerated but definitely longer. I love terrorizing the Survivors but I’m still 100% okay if they escape. It feels more cinematic that way, a match full of brutality and carnage but they all live to tell the tale.
My build is:
- Bloodhound
- Knock Out
- Sloppy Butcher
- Distressing or Deerstalker depending on if I want to generally terrorize all Survivors or if I want to play as a stalker Killer.
- Any Killer
In these games I will not hook at all, only slug. But once I know a slug is about to die I will pick them up to wiggle free or let their teammates pick them up without interruption. Then I will intentionally go out of my way to leave them alone the rest of the match. Even if they’re in my face I refuse to kill them unless they point at the hook, then I will give them what they want lol. Maybe I will still “chase” them but not down them just to give them that adrenaline rush. Once all four are slugged I will help one up and let them all escape.
These games usually end up with the Survivors grouping around me and then the game turns friendly lol
-
It kind of feels like 4%ing yourself is the only “allowable” way of leaving a match early. Personally, I would like the mechanic to be updated so that maybe luck has a bigger impact or something else.
Whenever it feels like people are 4%ing themselves more than usual I will bring Vigo’s Jar and Up the Ante. It’s not perfect but it is something. Or just rush the hook every time someone is hooked. It doesn’t really bother me, but I understand that it can be frustrating.

Theme is the USP of the game, what helps it beat out other asymmetrical elimination games, without the theme you wouldn't have anything to balance to begin with.
I think TC is right, but it's not the whole picture, and it's not considering the whole picture form the killer point of view either. Yes theme is a factor in establishing a lower-than-even win rate for survivors. The other factor is that this is an asymmetrical game.
Survivor and Killer win conditions do not correlate. A win for a survivor is to escape the trial, and to be sacrificed is to lose, it's a binary system, so it seems like 50/50 should be "fair". However the killer has a modular win condition with 5 outcomes, 0K, 1K, 2K, 3K and 4K. This is where 'theme' kinda blurs the lines a little too. It's widely considered that a 3K or 4K is a win for the killer, while 0-2K's are 'not wins'. This can't translate into a 50/50 benchmark, you have 2 win outcomes and 3 lose outcomes. This means that the ideal average isn't a 50% kill rate or a 2K game, it's halfway between a 2K and a 3K game, because a 3K is a win and a 2K is a loss. Halfway between a 2K and a 3K is 62.5%.
Some try to claim that a 2K is a draw, but that's not accurate. A draw is when neither side wins or loses, and yet 2 survivors have most definitely won in a 2K scenario. Much like how it doesn't 'feel nice' to be sacrificed even when some of your team mates escape, it doesn't 'feel nice' to only achieve half of your objective, its not a positive outcome. It doesn't feel good for a survivor game to end after 2.5 gens, it doesn't feel good to have half the survivors escape. And all of these arguments all boil down to what 'feels good' in the end.
And that's the problem. Survivors only feel like they're winning if they're escaping more than 50% of the time. Killers only feel like they're winning if they're killing more than 62.5% of the time. There's a 12.5% overlap where neither side is in a good place. That's just a fundamental property of an asymmetrical game that pits 4 v 1.
This is why survivor mains think the game is in a bad state, and why killer mains also think they're in a bad state, the average kill rate is above the threshold for a happy survivor, and below the threshold for a happy killer. It's actually in the ideal place, between 50% and 62.5%, but the ideal place means, on average, everyone loses more often than they win.
The real problem is player attitudes. People believe that they should be winning more often than not, which is not only not possible in a symmetrical PVP where you would expect 50% and not more, but considering the overlap described above, is even less likely in an asymmetrical PVP of this format. You need to approach the game like a survival horror, or a cat and mouse game (depending on which side you're playing), you shouldn't expect to survivor the majority of the time, surviving should be an ordeal. Similarly, you shouldn't expect to kill the majority of the survivors the majority of the time, sometimes you will only get one or two kills and the rest will escape. You need to expect to die more often than not, and you need to expect to not secure all the kills you want.
And that's where this marries up with theme. You're not only playing a game with the theme of a survival horror where the odds are against you, you're also playing an asymmetrical game where mechanically the odds are against you.
100% agree. Succinctly written.
