Boil Over isn’t on the same lines of effectiveness as Eruption.

Not only Boil Over after the buff (the two weeks it lasted before being rightly nerfed) wasnt as effective as current Ecrutchion but it also required two specific maps to get value and it usually ended with 4 people slugged and bleeding to death.

It was hella annoying tho, Ill give it that.

Yeah I was hoping it's not that. Because there's plenty of characters I don't personally find good looking but that doesn't mean I think they are a failure as a character.

I dont think Hadie lack of sex appeal is such a big issue with her.

While it does affect her as good looking characters do sell more and BHVR is heading the sexy route (Vittorio having a half naked skin on day one is a clear indicator of things to come) I believe she had more issues than just being average looking, her background is really meh, stinks of Mary Sue and is just another "brave investigator seeking truth after some trauma" like Zarina or Elodie, the whole controversy about head cosmetics being identical and she was released close to an update (6.1) which wasnt exactly loved by Survivor mains, especially not the Solo crowd, I wouldnt be surprised subconsciously some people associate her with the update (plus many Survivors ditched the game reducing her potential users).

First impression is the most important one and hers was a disaster on many levels.

  • Knight will never be fixed, adaptative AI is really hard especially with pseudorandom generated maps, it requires a ton of work and time, something the devs dont have since they pump stuff every 3 months.

Nemesis zombies have been in the game for 18 months and they still get stuck on many objects, lose track of Survivors even when in clear sight and become idle when they shouldnt, Knight will suffer from this forever and low player count will make a fix low priority on the pipeline, bussiness mentality dictates "why put work on something nobody plays and buys cosmetics?".

It really sucks that we'll likely have to wait another month and a half to see this perk addressed on live.

Yep, lately BHVR way of doing things is nerf busted stuff after ~6 months or so, my guess is this perk will be nerfed on January.

  • Hillbilly because he is so weak and feels so easy to loop and counter any Hillbilly that uses their chainsaw even a little

Bad Hillbillies feel weak and feel easy to loop when they use their chainsaw a little (same as bad Nurses, Blights or Huntresses), good Hillbillies will tear you asunder and will mostly use only chainsaw except on very concrete situations against very strong loops where they actually have to M1 to force the Survivor out.

Good Hillbillies arent a dying bred, they were never a bred to begin with, they were excedingly rare before the nerfs as they are now because most people abused instasaw addons and were mostly clueless about anything else outside of "get really close, rev up in less than 1 second get an instadown", plus Hillbilly had an increased chance of getting Ebony Moris so he could always get someone out of the game very very fast.

Forget about Nurse, Hillbilly is the hardest Killer in the game by a long stretch and if you are not really good the Survivors can dab you easily but once you get really good at him he is a beast to contend with, altough few people are willing to put the time and effort it takes to become that good when they can get good at Nurse or Blight with less hours and effort.

Watch any tierlist video on youtube. Kinda have to be living under a rock not to know people like to play against Hillbilly.

Little gave my own first person experience of survivors stomping Hillbillies I play against?

Youtubers and streamers are only the voice of themselves, they dont represent the comunity in any way.

  • For Killers not really, altough I consider old Undying+Ruin worse than Ecrutchion that was a combo with two perks so its not really comparable.

For Survivors release MoM and first iteration DS were very overpowered, IMO the two more overpowered perks this game has seen ever taking on account both Survivor and Killer perks.

I wouldn't say 25% of all matches is "rarely". One out of four? That would be absurdly many. But I have encountered them to a degree that I cannot say "never."

Yeah that question isnt very precise, I find cheaters from time to time but not 1 out of 4 and I doubt anyone does unless they are a streamer targeted by cheaters.

  • Im baffled they asked only 1 question about paid cosmetics. Whats happening? Im afraid...

  • @Roaroftime said:

I mean they could've given survivors some decent new perks like they did for killers and actually focused on what we want like stopping tunnelling and camping rather than removing our options to prevent them then it would've been less suffering for survivors as well, so far it's only survivor side suffering with the kill rates to show for it...

I think the people designing Survivor perks no longer have a grasp about game mechanics, most of the "buffed" perks in 6.1 to entice players to use them are still bad or even worse than before (Calm Spirit and Pharmacy were direct nerfs). I can understand the tought "this perk is too strong so we are toning it down" we may or may not agree about the change but there is a clear and sound logic behind the action but what we have now is "This perk is never picked, lets buff it to increase usage but the result is still a bad perk or even worse" there is no logic, its like seeing your car with a flat tire thinking "Im going to fix it" and end with your a broken window AND a flat tire then think "ok, this should do the trick" what kind of train of tought leads to such actions?.

Now from time to time you see the usual posters saying "But I use Deja Vu/Dark Sense/Overzealous/Hope/Tenacity/NOLB they are SO good now!!" No, no you dont, nobody does because they are still subpar, Im yet to see those perks more than once outside of achievement attempts.

yea just because your name says read my bio doesnt mean anyones going to actually read you bio. In lobby i dont sit there and looka t the gamer tag of the lobby, much less open the profiles of survivors to read whatever they put there.

Its also not anyones obligation to do what your expectation is. Playing the game normally will eventually lead to you escaping 20 times naturally. a killer or survivor has zero obligation to cater to your achievement procurements.

I think they are actually reading his bio and they are tunneling him because of it, thats the complain, he isnt asking Killers to let him escape or go easy, he is just stating people are very petty in this game (which is true and its one of the main problems with the comunity on both sides).

OP you should delete your bio and go on crossplay again, if you burn a RPD offering the Killer wont know who did it and may tunnel someone else, you are singling yourself and making people focus you out of spite.

  • Why are people so hellbent into reworking Killers they dont play? Have you tought of people like me who play Myers and are perfectly content the way he is?.

Its even worse when almost all reworks suggestions are the same thing "Give em teleports!" or "Give them burst of speed!", if I wanted to play Blight instead of Myers I would be playing Blight already.

  • Nobody is holding anyone hostage, both parties can end the problem in less than one second.

Holding the game hostage means putting someone in a situation where they cant end the game by their own means or a timer and their only way out is to disconect.

Holding hostage doesnt mean "Im in a position where Im going to get a non desired outcome", which is where the Killer and Survivor are in Tombstone/Locker standouts.

  • @AbsolutGrndZer0 said:

I mean, I really wouldn't. In a lot of ways he's a meme killer, as he does what he does in the movie. Nobody plays Myers because he's OP, they play him because they are fans of Halloween and his playstyle. Plus, add that he has the Tombstone and Fragrant Tuft of Hair addons, and.... yeah. He's in no way weak, even without said addons.

they play him because they are fans of Halloween and his playstyle.

I play Myers and you are completely right, I like his playstyle even if he is not the strongest Killer in the game.

Myers if fine as he is, people who dont like him or think he is too weak just dont play him but dont deprive me or others of his playstyle just because you want another teleporting Killer (because most suggestions are always the same "give him a teleport!!".

  • Making a power depending on AI is what went wrong. AI is hard to code even when its just "if you detect enemy attack at a distance" coding it to follow a Survivor dodging all debris on the map is much harder than coding almost anything else.

Nemesis zombies were just a warning, their pathfinder is buggy as hell but since they are a minor aspect of its power people dont really pay that much attention to how poorly they perform, but on the Knight they are the main and only thing so all the problems shine like a supernova.

  • Hard to tell, people may be getting better at using DH, maybe there are more people running scripts, there isnt definite proof for any claim so it all falls in the realm of doubt.

On a sidenote two days ago I played against someone who hit every single DH perfectly, even against baits who usually do trick people half the time, I obviusly grew suspicious, after the match ended I checked profile: Private and 1 VacBan in another game 400 days ago...

  • Why do these people always look at my cards when Im playing poker and put them on the table for everyone to see? How come it isnt bannable?

You chose to show your game to everyone, its not cheating if you openly show your hand.

  • The few matches I play as Survivor make me feel like me and the other Solos exist only to give someone a power trip.

  • I play on western Europe, for me there used to be long Killer queues but lately they have been shortening to around 1-2 minutes (my guess is Killers are starting to quit the game because queues+DCs after the influx after 6.1).

I think Killer is easier to be easier, you can pick Nurse, put some slowdown and there isnt much anyone can do against you, for Survivors to be easy you have to be on a 3 or 4SWF, all members have to be very good, perks must be meta, a normal map and you are going to have an easier time against a lot of Killers but then a Nurse appears and wrecks you. In my opinion the conditions for Killer to be easy are easier to achieve than for Survivors. I think most Killers are balanced (except Nurse, Blight and Spirit) and the biggest problem is map disparity.

I play Myers and I rarely see DCs and/or salt, I believe around half DCs I see are honest ones like game crashing, internet going off or stuff like that because they seem pretty random to be people quitting (like someone who isnt being chased DCing in a match thats still contested).

  • @MrPeanutbutter said:

You’ll likely never see those perks in the shrine, ever. If they claim that the shrine is random, then they are lying. BHVR aren’t stupid - they know what will bring in money. There’s a reason the best perks are on licensed characters that can only be purchased with $$$

I wouldnt be surprised if Ecrutchion and Brine appear in the Shrine a few weeks (maybe between 2 or 4 weeks) before they announce their nerfs.

  • If they are harassing you over Steam you have to file a report on Steam as its another platform and out of BHVR "jurisdiction", in my experience Steam reports usually work, most people I reported for valid reasons (certain profile pictures, hate speech on their bio, threats on comments etc) have always been dealt with.

  • If they werent using Sabotage or toolboxes it has to be a bug with the map and maybe the basement position. Havent experience it myself but I dont remember being sent to Badham since Knight patch (and if I was there wasnt anything weird with hooks because I would have noticed it and remember the situation).

  • I think some streamers have been banned for abusing bugs long time ago and theirs werent permanent so my guess is they dont issue permabans for exploiting bugs unless its a repeated ofender.

  • I dont run perks I dont like facing either.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

It's such an unbelievably poorly designed perk. Kind of makes me think they buffed it and kept it in the game to entice more RE chapter sales. Surely they can't seriously think it's a healthy perk.

I have the same opinion, they also buffed Lethal Pursuer (an already good perk) which is from Nemesis too, plus none of its perks have been in the Shrine and the chapter has been out for 18 months or so. On a sidenote they buffed Gift of Pain from Pinhead and nerfed Overcharge on the PTB over Brine from Sadako and both come from licenses.

It isn't just 25 seconds though, it is multiple times every match and as solo survivor you have no counter to it. If you are on the gens trying to help your random team mates you get punished and it is more than a minute at time every match.

Killers are winning entirely because of one perk and it is an absolute joke. I play both sides btw and am Iri 1 for both killer and survivor so it isn't like I don't understand gens can go fast. But Eruption is broken and unfair

Unfun fact, those 75 seconds of you doing nothing plus the 30% explosions regression (27 seconds) amount to more than 1 single gen (plus the normal regression if nobody came to tap the gens). All that from kicking 3 gens, downing 3 people and paying 12€, almost same requirements for PGTW (except instead of paying 12€ you have to hook someone) which could have regressed at most a 60% of gen progress if you get to use it at 99% (in practice it would be way less regression).

  • Stop complaining about Eruption

Honestly, I imagine for some, it doesn't affect them so they don't get why it would affect others. I don't think they're intentionally misunderstanding the issue or anything, they just don't experience the FOMO issues and figure everyone else should be the same and are just making excuses for why they fail to control their own wallet.

You see this kind of thing in politics and in life all the time where someone has a different view because they've never walked a mile in someone else's shoes and therefore blow off their concerns.

You see this kind of thing in politics and in life all the time where someone has a different view because they've never walked a mile in someone else's shoes and therefore blow off their concerns.

You are so very right, I know a few cases about people not caring about "stuff" because it didnt affect them then suddenly someone on their family begins being affected by "stuff" and they notice they should have cared a bit more when they had the chance.

People who dont understand the problems with gacha, fomo, lootboxes and other predatory practices in videogames wait until you have a gambling adict on your family like I had and you will understand why "lol just dont buy em" is not a real option same as "lol just dont gamble" isnt an option.

Luckily one day this is going to blow up and force politicians to legislate.

  • I believe these numbers are the normal numbers for the game, 2020 and 2021 had such huge growth because the COVID19 pandemic, almost all videogame companies overperformed, people staying at home and plenty of leisure options being closed or canceled bolstered numbers for videogames (and streaming services), now the pandemic is not over yet but in a much softened stage people return to their normal activities and videogames return to their former performance.

    @Brokenbones said:

Steam charts doesn't factor in Epic or Console. Most people play on Console I believe

The drop in numbers does mean that player retention is somewhat down and I mean, this isn't anything new - when BHVR releases buggy unfinishes messes, (See: Binding of Kin, Forged in Fog) people stop playing until they fix it.

While you are right numbers in one platform doesnt mean the same for others if I had to take a bet I would go for "the numbers in the other platforms saw a similar decrease as the ones in Steam" I worked for two years in goverment surveys and I was baffled at how samples of people fit the majority of the population except very specific cases (like selecting a district known for having lots of retired people or a college dorm, those were the few which skewed the surveys).

Let me ask you a question what be considered in this community as an imposter?

The "Im a Survivor/Killer main I think BHVR should nerf us" and the "All in the community agreed X was the most balanced thing in this game EVER!" thread makers.

  • There is this kind of player who doesnt care about gameplay and only cares about winning (they are called Spike), they go for the easiest most powerful strategy/character/setup and once Spirit got nerfed they abandoned ship towards the next busted FOTM, they are the people who played instasaw Hillbilly, collision Spirit, Forever Freddy, 10 meter lunge Wraith, Stridor Spirit etc, my guess is they are playing Nurse with 4 slowdowns now.

It happens in every multiplayer game, in SF3 they were the people playing Chun Li, in release SF4 Sagat, Slayer in Guilty Gear, Nature Prophet during split push meta in Dota2, 4pool Zerg in Starcraft and 2 Nexus Protoss in Brood War etc, once wathever they do gets nerfed they wait until the pros find the next big thing and migrate to it.

Thank you and yeah while I fully acknowledge I am far from great with this killer, it feels like he has very little going for him and on certain maps he is essentially useless (not unique to him I guess).

Deathslinger punishes a lot for missing his shots, its not as noticeable as Hillbilly, Nurse or Huntress because you are still in the chase so you dont really feel like the Survivor is getting away, but miss 4 or 5 shots and I can guarantee at least 2 gens are going to ding, between the misses and the time it takes to shot+reel+down a chase with him can be slower than you think.

  • I dont think scripting is allowed for any Killer or Survivor.

  • The problem with his adept is mostly his perks, DMS is good altough it loses a lot of potential on low mobility Killers like him, Retribution is not very good and by itself alone is even worse, Gearhead is overall useless.

Pair those perks with a low mobility Killer and a meh power makes his adept much harder than others, Deathslinger is not THAT bad but you cant miss more than a couple of shots in the entire match or you will lose any chance at mounting pressure with the hooks.

  • Not for regular game, maybe for a new gamemode.

If only you could handicap yourself in a video game playing weaker killer, perks or no perks at all. That would be more challenging. Guess thats a no

Handicapping yourself feels very artificial tho, plus OP says he is playing Trapper so he is already doing it. People who enjoy challenges want to play to the best of their ability and show they can overcome the challenge, if you have to slow down its not the same, you are not doing your best and whats in front of you is not really what you really seek.

  • @ShinobuSK said:

Its like that for a while. Whats the issue, you wanna lose more?

Curbstomp after curbstomp is boring for people who enjoy challenges.

  • My theory is they didnt expect Solo to plummet the way it did and they didnt expect the changes would be as needed as they are so they were left on the backburner.

  • Bizarro Sluzzy, is that you?

  • Its not bannable, its the only real counterplay to Tombstone addons.

More the exception than the rule. With a lot of things, the poor impulse control is never going to go away--it's just a matter of teaching strategies and mechanisms to try and put a brake in, but that's not perfect. And even if you can learn that, constant 'look at our time-limited offer!' notifications and events do not help.

BHVR has not yet, I think, graduated quite to "Look at our time-limited cosmetics we're selling!" and putting a big glitzy visual add every time you log in, but this isn't much better (because then it's attacking the same point every time someone tries to play, and really hammering in 'look how close this is to going!')

Yep, there is a reason why you should never offer alcohol or even drink it in front of a former alcoholic, even if he hasnt had a drink for 30 years.

  • Setting Whispers to 15 meters would be a buff actually, it would help the Killer pinpoint Survivor much easier because they have a much smaller area to check.

  • @sulaiman said:

The problem is, that this line of argument completly takes any responsibility for their own behaviour from the persion itself.

They just cant help themself, so its not their fault, its everyone elses fault.

It is actually the same reasoning that was used in ######### cases 40-50 years ago. The man had poor impulse controll, and the girl a short skirt. We all know whose fault that was, right?

I perfectly agree that you should call out (and probably boycott) companys that target this vulnerable persons, but taking any responsibility away from them is something i highly disagree with.

I would boycott, but actually i havent bought anything since patch 6.1, and i play next to no matches at the moment anyway, so there is not much for me to stop doing to send a sign. Maybe stop reading the forum.

Thats a bit different because altough both what you cite and what this thread is about are related to poor impulse control, FOMO, gacha and lootboxes are more related to adictions (especially gambling) and the rush people feel when playing games of chance where there is a BIG PRIZE!! the other is more related to issues like anger, delusions of power, domination and sadism.

Both are consequences of poor impulse control but differ on the source for such conducts, in other words, the trigger is the same (poor impulse control) the reasons are completely different.

  • Im against it because I dont like anyone making profit by using tactics exploiting the many weakness of the human mind like poor impulse control also in the videogame industry it has the added problem it targets underage people, you cant sell tobacco and alcohol to kids and they cant enter casinos but you can put lootboxes, timed exclusive things and gacha on videogames without much control.

I believe all this monetary schemes are going to become a problem on future generations, gacha adicts are already starting to be a concern in East Asia, just wait until it catches up with us since we started a bit later the problem is still incubating.

  • @Rovend said:

What's so troublesome about the snowman that everyone is freaking out on forum? I did not play last year's christmas event

Survivors can enter snowmen and move around albeit at extremely slow pace and they cant do anything but to get them out of them you have to M1 them essentially giving an extra health state.

On paper they are not such a big problem because someone using them is useless but on practice Survivors can enter them during chases so you are left with 2 options, hit it and incur a M1 CD penalty or leave the chase and the Survivor will exit the snowman and go do gens.

  • The trick is not missing the shots, as silly as it sounds Deathslinger is a beast at chasing, there is no way to escape him even if he keeps missing but here is the kicker, miss enough and the gens will be fixed before you can start putting up any semblance of pressure. Once you get really really good at him you can end chases fast enough but you cant miss more than a couple of shots in the entire match, I believe is one of the most punishing Killers for not being very good with his power (the other being Hillbilly).

  • What?

  • I dont think the Knight will be ever be played a lot because his power relies entirely on AI and its prone to many bugs, Nemesis was released like a year and a half ago and his zombies still have plenty of bugs with pathing and location but at least they are just a minor part of his power.

  • Ive faced it plenty of times, maybe you are very lucky.
