  • Oh, you really think you can dethrone me? A King?

Your attempts are laughable at best, dear Peasant.

If it makes you better How about I ask do you even own all these animals?

God I wish I owned all of these babus.

Genuinely just Google images + my friends sending me cute things when I'm sad. I save them because they help keep my mental health issues far enough away that I can tolerate existing most of the time.

Soon as I can afford to, though, I'm getting two pet donkeys and two pet cows and I'm going to raise them up from children and I will cuddle them so tightly

I'm not sure those two things are related at all

  • Oh no how ✨tragic✨ I'm sure everyone will be heartbroken at the news that an unfun killer to play and an unfun killer to face will now be even less played so everyone can have more fun

LMAO this is one of the best roasts I've seen on here in a long time.

    Lmao thanks :D

Don't bring a law student into legal things at 2am bad things happen

  • In DBD's EULA, basically the legal mumbo jumbo you agree to when playing DBD, which you can find here:

    https://store.steampowered.com/eula/381210_eula_0

    There's this section:

    image.png

I'd like to point you to this section:

The Game may, from time to time, feature virtual goods. Virtual goods include but are not limited to virtual items (characters, accessories, items such as “character customization”, power-ups), points, credits, tokens and currency (collectively, “Virtual Goods”) for use in the Game.

    And also this section:

Virtual Goods have no monetary value, and in no event may you sell, transfer, trade, exchange, give, convert or redeem Virtual Goods for “real” money or other goods or services, including other Virtual Goods, inside or outside the Game except as expressly permitted by this EULA, the BHVR Terms or otherwise permitted in the gameplay.

In lay-man's terms, this means that you cannot get refunded for "characters, accessories, items such as “character customization”, power-ups". The Nightmare is a character, and so no refund can be given.

    There's also this section:

BHVR has the absolute right to regulate, discontinue, update, modify or eliminate any Virtual Goods at any time in its sole discretion and BHVR shall have no liability to you or anyone else for these actions.

Which means that they are allowed to change whatever they want with their Virtual Goods (characters, accessories, items such as “character customization”, power-ups) and will not be liable to anyone. You cannot get a refund for this change.

Were you to attempt to make a case out of this, you would fail almost immidiately due to these rules, which you agreed to upon opening Dead By Daylight.

    Have a good day.

You actually are the first wow. I take that part back now. Also, solo's don't have to. I play solo just as much as swf like I said and not even as solo do I feel I need a totem tracker. It would be unnecessary clutter imo. The only reason I'd need small game is to make sure I got all the totems and I have an idea where they are like I said only if I had too much NOED or a totem challenge. Even then do I feel I actually need it though? No, just to be a little more helpful in those situations. There are only 3 maps in the game that for me personally I'd be like "Yeah, Small Game is super helpful." The two swamp maps and Midwich, anywhere else? No.

I'd add Saloon onto that list too.

I'm glad that you feel like you don't need the totem counter, but unfortunately in my solo games it's a miracle if anyone but me does a generator, let alone cleanses a single totem. Knowing if my team are actually on totems, so I'd be able to focus on maybe gens more, or knowing they're attempting to slam gens but ignoring totems, would be so helpful to how I play. Furthermore, whenever I play killer vs solos who try and cleanse totems, it's almost an instant win because they'll be searching areas where totems used to be but were cleansed before, buying me enough time to easily win the game with PGTW value.

  • @TWiXT said:

I disagree. Totem Cleansing is a secondary objective that survivors can choose to either do or ignore, and for the most part they ignore it. Now not only is Small Game going to become the quintessential totem detection perk, It'll also keep track of how many totems are left for any survivor that uses it. By keeping this information bound to a perk, the survivors have to use up 1 perk slot, which feels more balanced considering how valuable that information is to survivors, especially when approaching the end game (talking about NOED avoidance). Whereas Giving survivors that information as a base part of the in game UI/Hud becomes all advantage to the survivors, and no disadvantage for having access to that information. If this were base kit to the UI, lets face it, Certain hex perks would become antiquated and useless. By giving this information only to the survivors that equip the perk, they are essentially equipping it in order to counter any hex perks the killer might bring in, and thus it becomes a perk with the sole purpose of defeating another perk, which to me sounds like a fair trade off.

On the other hand, in the case of SWF on voice comms, only one survivor would ever need to equip the Small Game in order to inform their teammates of how many totems are left in the match, which by this use, will have the same effect as having the information base kit UI, and effectively render those hex perks pointless without costing multiple survivors their perk slot. This is where the perk becomes an imbalanced advantage for the survivor team, so with this change to Small Game alone, they've just made SWF that much stronger against the killer players who use hex perks.

    TL;DR

Making this information available as base kit in game UI/hud is the unfair option, because as long as it's tied to a perk, the survivors have to choose to use up a perk slot for it, but if they didn't have to, then the Hex perk mechanic in the game (especially NOED) would go the way of the dodo. You're demanding the devs give survivors information that gives them a hefty advantage against the killers, without sacrificing anything to compensate for receiving said information, and for that, I disagree with this OP's opinion.

Making this information available as base kit in game UI/hud is the unfair option, because as long as it's tied to a perk, the survivors have to choose to use up a perk slot for it, but if they didn't have to, then the Hex perk mechanic in the game (especially NOED) would go the way of the dodo.

Except, the latter option of hex perks going the way of the dodo already happens vs competent SWF teams. Which is what I'm trying to argue here- SWF and solos should be similar power levels to killers and their mechanics can be buffed accordingly, such as with longer cleansing times, more totems, and better totem spawns. It's not like giving them this basekit woudl lead to something that doesn't already happen because it's already happening.

Which is the exact opposite of what I'm attempting to aim for and another reason as to why it being basekit would be better! This current Small Game actually buffs SWFs further whilst solos remain the same, which isn't okay.

Yet another reason I absolutely despise this new Small Game; it's a change that should've been basekit and making it a perk has just further widened the gap between SWF and solo. Which is why it should be basekit.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

People want this change because NOED exists if I'm not mistaken (and other hexes). If a killer can take up a spot for a hex you can too. The end. Also, the idea that you're "forced to" is ridiculous. I always here specifically survivor mains (not killers or people who play both sides) say this. You are not "forced" to bring anything. Run nothing. Go ahead. No one will stop you. I play solo just as much as I play swf and I don't need anyone to tell me how many totems are left, I can figure it out on my own. I'm perfectly capable of that. I'd only run new Small Game as a solo if I'm been running into an absurd amount of NOED as of my last few matches or have a totem challenge.

Also, the idea that you're "forced to" is ridiculous. I always here specifically survivor mains (not killers or people who play both sides) say this

Killer main, used to play both sides equally, so congrats I'm the first.

If a killer can take up a spot for a hex you can too

But SWF don't have to, so it's nowhere near fair. I don't know how I can make this clearer, but if SWF don't have to use a perk, why should solos? They shouldn't; they shouldn't be forced to use perks to get information SWF can for free (if there's any other way to consistently and reliably get the information of locations of totems + their status whilst playing solo, at the moment of another player passing by them, let me know).

  • Best part is that this has already been answered :D

Wasnt aware I was speaking to a DbD pro, my bad.

Well, I'm glad that we've cleared that up.

I wouldn't say I'm "clueless" when it comes to balance, in fact at risk of sounding rather narcessistic I'd say I'm quite good at coming up with ideas.

And no, I don't want free wins vs solo teams. Glad we've also cleared this one up.

  • @Andokuky said:

See this is the kind of stuff I don’t get when it comes to survivors wanting these huge baseline buffs for solo players and then they say “oh and then they can buff killers”. In this case it’s “oh then they can buff totem spawns”.

Well they’ve only had like five years to fix totem spawns and they are as terrible as they have ever been. But you have faith that they’ll finally do something to them just because of a survivor change? Please.

Survivor mains wanted a totem counter, now it exists. People are just upset about it because they don’t want to have to use a perk slot for it. I run Detectives Hunch to make sure noed is gone every game and it’s also fabulous for Ruin/Devour. I understand it’s a strong gameplay element and should require a perk to counter it.

The idea that solo should have all the free information of SWF... have you played DbD? By the way I am a solo survivor player too.

Well they’ve only had like five years to fix totem spawns and they are as terrible as they have ever been. But you have faith that they’ll finally do something to them just because of a survivor change? Please.

They've also had to keep solo players in mind during those 5 years. This could be a reason as to why.

Survivor mains wanted a totem counter, now it exists.

Killer main, still want the basekit totem counter. Still want solos buffed so it's not practially a free win.

I understand it’s a strong gameplay element and should require a perk to counter it.

But that's the thing, SWF don't need a perk to counter it, so no matter if it should or shouldn't, it doesn't, and until solo survivors are up to scratch with 4man SWF-on-comms, this game will never be anywhere close to balanced.

The idea that solo should have all the free information of SWF... have you played DbD?

Apparently attacking BHVR's integrity isn't personal. Nice that we're learning new revelations every day that aren't even true.

I agree that a totem counter should be integral to the HUD. Probably more nuanced than just a counter saying "x totems left," just so it doesn't look too cluttered. But it's not the end of the world. If it ever gets to the point where NOED is running rampant throughout the meta game, then people can start equipping small game, considering that DS is just ... not great.

To the best of my knowledge, saying that a company as a whole are doing something isn't a personal attack, singling out a singular person (say, not_Queen or Almo) and blaming them as the sole reason for something would be a personal attack.

  • @ShamelessPigMain said:

They added a totem counter. That's pretty clearly sticking to their word. Same thing with DS and object changes.

I get it's trendy and cool to hate on BHVR, but there's a limit at which you stop even addressing the issue at hand and start going directly for personal attacks.

This isn't even going for a personal attack, this is that adding a totem counter to the HUD to bring solos up to scratch with SWF, as well as various other solo buffs that don't impact SWF, is the only way they'll ever be able to actually balance the damn game, but instead of doing that they are plainly ignoring that.

They released the event outfits for 21,600 Shards each, and I immediately bought two of them.

Less than two days later, they discounted them to 9,000 each due to fan outcry over the event. They never said they planned on doing this, so it seems like it was a hasty change to get some good PR (as the event was basically universally disliked by the community.

No, they didn't refund the difference to people who bought the outfits before the discount, despite many people such as myself asking.

There's a difference between these situations, as far as I'm aware. You purchased something using shards only for it to be discounted later, OP had theirs completely removed.

I'd love that but considering how they won't even give us a totem counter basekit I'm doubtful they'd do something like that :(

I disagree. If anything, it'd make people lazy about it because they'd know someone else was doing it. Regardless, SWF does not have this information unless solo survivors refuse to cleanse totems, which was the point.

Unless they are in a 4man, which is what many of the SWF groups that people complain about on these forums are, and in order to account for these 4men groups all other combinations should be brought up to their standard and then killers buffed accordingly. Adding a base-kit totem counter would be a good change for this.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2102241#Comment_2102241

How would that solve the fact that solo survivors don't cleanse totems? Again, if SWF can tell each other exactly how many totems are left, it's only because solo survivors don't cleanse totems. And if solo survivors don't cleanse totems, that's a problem with solo survivors.

A lot of solos don't cleanse totems due to the fact that if you cleanse an obvious totem then any NOED spawn would be in a more hidden place. Adding a totem counter, whilst it wouldn't fix this issue entirely, would incentivise cleansing totems, particularly if the team knows that people are also doing so.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2102213#Comment_2102213

They can tell each other how many totems they cleansed, but unless it's a 4-man SWF, they don't know how many totems are left because they don't know how many the solo survivors cleansed. If they can, it's because the solo survivors aren't cleansing the totems, and that's just a solo survivor problem, plain and simple.

and that's just a solo survivor problem, plain and simple

Which, making the totem counter aspect of Small Game basekit would completely solve.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2102177#Comment_2102177

I'm not saying that. I'm saying that tournaments and top level players prove this game is survivor sided when playing at the highest level. At high level play, 2 killers are viable, nurse and spirit. Every other killer is a joke and can only get kills by camping. Literally watch any tournament or a marth video.

And this has anything to do with solos needing to be brought up to SWF standards and then killers buffed, with a good first step being the implementation of a totem counter how exactly?

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/241928/i-despise-new-small-game

Here is a better idea. Add voice chat and rework all the information perks to do something else, and then give information as base kit, or disable SWF.

Disabling SWF would kill the game, so reworking information perks and then giving said information basekit is the only way to do it.

also what i opted for in my post.

  • Actually, it's for this reason:

    @GoodBoyKaru said:

Okay, so, for anyone who is currently unaware, during the next PTB the perk "Small Game" will be recieving a buff. Here's what it will do:

For anyone who wants a full list of changes, you can view them here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/241887/developer-update-april-2021

Now, as I'm sure you read in the title of this thread, I absolute despise this change. I hate it so incredibly much it might actually topple my hatred of Spirit for half a day, and there's one simple reason:

It should have been base kit.

It now has a totem counter, something that people have been asking for basekit for ages. If it were basekit, they could then superbuff totem spawns (which, hey Autohaven, they really have to do anyway) and make them take longer to cleanse, yada yada, because it would be a buff to solo survivors whilst not impacting SWF-on-comms in any meaningful way.

Solo survivors should not have to use perks or items for information that SWF teams get for free.

New Small Game's totem counter should be part of the survivor HUD to act as a solo buff to bring them closer in line with SWF teams, then allowing further balance for the game. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

(new OOO looks clean tho, so gj there bhvr)

I rarely used the perk myself (I prefered Detective's in terms of totem hunting) so I can't comment on any of the other changes to it, really.

  • They're making them much clearer to see, so they're still changing the HUD.

it shouldnt have been changed to begin with but i digress

No you didn't complain about it but people are still going to

Because it's still a solo-stomper perk that doesn't really affect SWF players that much and until the totem counter is base-kit and solos and SWFs are closer I will continue to ######### about that perk being a solo-stomper.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2101872#Comment_2101872

I don't think that would be enough. Totems can only be so hidden, or they'd be impossible to find most of the time.

Hexes would have to be completely reworked, like the idea that killers get a fifth Hex only perk slot (so that each game comes with one Hex perk) and each Hex scales based on the number of totems that remain.

Honestly, yep, go for it. Hell, you could even bring back old Undying but it transfers stacks and is guaranteed to be at least the 2nd totem cleansed if you really wanted to; but no matter what, for once, can BHVR please buff solo survivors

  • @Seraphor said:

Basekit totem counter will make survivors cleanse every totem in every game.

That sounds great, and in terms of creating a secondary survivor objective it has it's merits, but it will completely invalidate most Hex perks.

I'd only condone this if Hexes were reworked as well.

Hence why I talked about also superbuffing totem spawns and making them take longer to cleanse.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I don't like a Totem counter, especially not base-kit. Don't need more UI elements.

Hell I'm not a fan of a numbered counter on the Perk, would have much preferred just making any totem cleanse cause a notification.

I mean, ######### it. Would've functioned the same a totem counter so I'm down.

  • Actually, I'm seeing some really good use with it. You've accidentally overextended and have to get back to your 3gen you're defending, with a portal nearby. You know that they're on the gen from BBQ but don't really have the time to walk across all of Mother's Dwelling to get there. So you place a portal, teleport, and the placed portal that would normally be out of position and throw the game gets instantly destroyed and everyone's happy except the survivor on the gen you've just popped.

  • @CakeDuty said:

Why couldn't it just be basekit? Solo queue survivors are running out of perk slots to get on par with SWF.

    I have to run

Kindred to see if someone is going for the save/have someone save me

Bond/Empathy to find survivors to heal me

Buckle Up if you wanna see how far your teammates have healed up

Better Together to have teammates find you on a gen

All the things SWF get by just being on Discord. (Probably a couple perks I've forgotten)

Meanwhile I also have to run Borrowed Time to avoid my teammates getting tunneled and DS to avoid I get tunneled. But God forbid survivors would get a totem counter basekit. Now another perk I have to run to get on par with SWF.

Don't forget Iron Will, Fixated, and Spine Chill in order to counter Spirit, the fairest and most balanced killer in DBD!

seriously, though, these changes really piss me off lmao
