Yes, it is intended and was changed in a patch in February apparently.
So pretty much current Furin is functionally a meme add-on, that potentially helps survivors more than killer.
I completely missed this change then, another add-on to add to the memes list just like all the duration ones.
Charge+recharge+speed etc add-ons is the way now I guess.
I'm not a big fan of what they did to this character,I could swear something changed on the audio side too,as,many times it happened, that when you are phasing towards an hurt survivor for example, the noises of pain are not correctly played or intermittent (you could hear the noises near you,but the survivor is much way ahead of you),or the footseps sounds could not happen at all.

Thanks. I think they changed it.
I tested it with my friends. It definitely does not work with terror radius perks (undetectable/oblivious). They could hear the direction. I think we also tried phasing outside 24 meters and getting close, and they could still hear direction when I get close.
I'll do more tests about outside 24meters to inside while phasing to make sure.

This don't work anymore btw
Wait, was it really changed? There is no point in using it now then,I wonder if it is intended or a bug.
Was it changed in the recent duration add ons patch?
-
The furin add-on makes it so,that every player out of the spirit terror radius (24 metres) gets to hear the phasing sound (not directional),but if you start phasing while a player is in the terror radius, that player will hear everything normal (directional sound cue etc).
The trick about this add on,is that the directional phase sound muffle can be used to mind game survivors and take them by surprise, because, while it's true, that a player in the spirit terror radius gets still to hear the direction where she is coming from, a player wich is outside of it,will no be able to discern it still.
I hope I explained it correctly, because english is not my first language,so forgive me if it looked too complex.
So,basically,in a few words,if you,as a spirit, know that a survivor player is in a certain spot far from you (maybe working on a generator outside of your 24 m terror radius),if you start phasing and go near the player, that survivor will still not be able to hear the direction where you are coming from and you will scare the soul out of him/her ahahahahaha.
Edit:
Further notes,I don't know if the add-on can be used in sinergy with perks that restricts the terror radius or if it is just a fixed value of 24 metres no matter how.

So if you are saying a killer HUD would have no impact on kill rates. Would you also agree that the survivor HUD overhaul did nothing for survival rates?
You are losing me here right now,I don't get what you mean.
This is just a topic regarding a better info situation about the perks usages on the killers,it is an "objective" thing that they could do with an improvement right now,and I explained why before.
As a community,we should all be happy and unite when talking about improvements like this.
Leave the killrates out,you do not know what they are currently, just focus on the fact that it can be a nice improvement, just like what happened with the survivors hud update, wich was a needed addition and it can still be improved.

I am on about. You are asking for a huge buff to killer, during the strongest killer era EVER in dbd.
@Biscuits said:

The kill rates massively disagree with your perception of the game.
You are over reacting or misunderstanding the point of this topic, the purpose here is not about buffing the killers, but just to provide more info on what is happening,to make the game feel more clear and less frustrating and to better understand what is going on. This is already a reality with perks like decisive strike, when a killer gets hit by this perk,it gets notified about it,that is all, nobody is asking to make it clear from the start if a survivor is using a certain perk, but only at the moment of the activation (or even,as an example,to know better when someone is affected by the mangled or exposed status).
Regarding the game being in the strongest killer era ever, even here,I think you misunderstand the meaning behind this affirmation when it gets said by someone,it's true that nowadays, killers have a much more balanced experience compared to the past (infinite loops etc),but that does not mean that is yet a "fine" experience, there are still a lot of problems about this role that need to be adressed (maps being still the biggest issue, followed by the unviabiity of more than half of the characters roster).
And about the kill rates, again, what are you talking about?
The stats you are probably refering to,are outdated by a year, they are completely unreliable in the current state of the game, forget about those.
If you think that I am just someone who is biased to maining one role, know that I play both sides.
I think that solo queue could still do with some more improvements,it just needs a bit more of info, maybe make some more perks basekit, like bond, kindred or windows of opportunity (of course,a smaller version of them, just so that it would not be pointless to run those in a build).

At least try to get just a bit good at the game like everyone does before coming here making such assumptions.
Being a normal player doesn't stop you from making a google research about what perks you can use to find totems,it took me just 1 second to find at least 3 useful perks that you can use (there is even a search bar included in game when you are selecting the perks you have unlocked, just write "totem") :
- Counterforce (from Jill Valentine,Dlc) ;
- Detective's hunch (from Detective Tapp,Dlc) ;
- Small game (every player have the possibility of unlocking this from start and is probably the best one between these).
-
The way I learned it over the years (90 ping player,no packet loss) is this,if as a killer, you try to hit survivors while they are over the window but still in vault animation, then the hit will miss.
If you time your hit to land at the exact time the survivors feet touch the floor on the other side (end vault animation),then you will succesfully hurt them.
Makes sense? No,but it wasn't programmed to harm the crew after all.
-
Just stand on them while they are downed and as soon as they wake up hit them again, done.
They will eventually abandon the high grounds to do some gens or end up the game on the floor while you practice the attack button ahahahah.
The real problem here,at least in my opinion,is related to the map offerings,I even said it in the past, these should not be a thing in an asymmetrical game like dbd, they ruin the random aspect of the game and let players take full usage of their perks in a controlled environment.
-
Yes,we have all been through there, that feeling of the maps being unfair etc, here some basic classic tips thay will help you with Wraith.
Now,before I start, don't get me wrong,I'm not saying you are not right, the maps and generators balance are a real issue, expecially in the things you mentioned, but you can mitigate these problems with enough gameplay experience on your part.
By reading at your post,I can say that you make often the mistake of committing to chases too much, don't do that, experienced survivors will bring you on a guided pallet tour through the whole map while the other teammates smash the generators.
What you want to do,is to apply "passive" pressure on the survivors, and the Wraith is excellent at this with his fast speed.
Basically, once the match starts, while cloacked,go find players that are working on the generators (don't commit to people that are running around the map randomly in the begin, you'll know where to find them later if they were running in the direction of a generator, maybe give them a hit if they are outpositioned and far from a pallet),once you find someone on a generator, start a chase, see how it goes, your main goal here is to apply hurt states and break as many pallets as possible.
If after 20 seconds, the chased player is still not on the ground, leave immediately and don't feel sad for it,at least you probably broke some pallets and created some dead zones in that part of the map.
Repeat the step in the begin,go check the generators,if done fast and well, the survivors will have to choose between wasting time healing or risk being on the generators in a hurt state.
That's it,with enough time and experience, you will become very good at this (you will know where to go to put pressure),but be careful, good survivors know about this and they will try to counter this tactic in any way possible (I don't blame them),they will bring medkits with insta heal add ons, toolboxes with brand new part, perks that help and reward doing the generators fast while injured (adrenaline and resilience being an example) etc.
For this type of players,I always bring with me perks like brutal strength or sloppy butcher (or the respective add ons that achieve the same results,Wraith can be very versatile thanks to them) so I can still be very efficient too and keep the pressure high.
Regarding other m1 killers,I can't help on that side (I don't own any dlc character and i don't have a lot of experience with the basic game ones) as I'm mostly a Wraith/Spirit main player.
-
Update 2:
It happened again on coldwind farm map,I'm confused at this point, there were no totems perk on the survivor side that could explain it.
Good luck fixing this developers,I hope you'll find the cause of this.
-
Update:
I discovered that this problem only happens on the Eyrie of crows map.
-
It's a bug with spirit, this character got broken with the last update.
If you notice, there is also something wrong with her field of view too, animations feels weird and the audio became inconsistent too, mainly survivors footsteps and voices, wich can make no sound at all random.
All should get fixed with tomorrow patch hopefully.
-
I too don't like going against doctors when I play survivor, but only because I play on 20 fps on a very low end pc and skillchecks becomes really impossible to do.
Maybe this is the problem? If you play on old gen consoles, due to unstable framerate, skillchecks are much more harder to do and it can seem unfair, but in reality, players who are even remotely experienced, laugh when they see a doctor,as he is considered one of the weak characters of the roster.

My time to play is late night when matchmaking has always regularly sucked, last night I gave it a chance and one of my teammates had 1 day and a few hours of gametime. Like 30 whopping hours and we got a P70 blight that had the whole lobby slugged in under 2 minutes. First down in probably 15 seconds, it was nuts.
Next match perma tier 3 Meyers hard face camping me with 2 teammates hiding behind a wall nearby for the entirety of my first hook doing absolutely nothing.
Face camping bubba.
Tunneling Wesker.
A Wesker that was terrible but 1 teammate opening chests all game and 1 doing God knows what, third used damn near every pallet on the map first chase, no resources left. Everyone dies at 1 gen left, 1 gen that was there for probably 3 minutes.
Face camping bubba, I closed dbd after that. That was last nights gaming session. There was 1 hatch escape and I don't think a single person made it thru the gates.
Between matchmaking incentives already screwing up mmr and being late night it's unplayable for me anymore. I wish it was an exaggeration.
Dead by LateNight!
Jokes aside,if it can make you feel better, all these sweats you met will probably end steamrolled by some swf team ahahahah.
I too don't play the game much nowadays,it is not burnout,it's just that, most of the time, the players that can be found can be really tilt inducing to the point of wanting to log off immediately, from cheaters to uneducated baboons that insults you in the endgame chat for no apparent reason etc.
-
Basic tip when playing against legion (even any killer really),stay away from your teammates and don't group up on gens, thank me later.
Also, with the new accessibility patch (visible terror radius),it's even easier and more fun to try to counter this power.
-
@Timmylaw said:
I've been playing the game since 2016 and have approximately 5k hours, I have taken several breaks to stop burn out, and I honestly think I'm just done.
I've seen less than 10 survivors make it thru the gate this past month as survivor, I guess the games gotten to the point where if you aren't in a swf you just don't escape anymore and when in a swf you have to have all really solid players.
You have to be laser focused on gens and there's no time for anything else. Games gotten way too sweaty anymore and no matter how much you lose mmr doesn't seem to change anything thanks to queue incentives prioritizing speed over balance.
No way man, forgive me but I don't believe you, this seems like an overexageration.
If you are always getting paired with a team of new players that don't know what to do I would just say you are very unlucky with mmr.
-
You sound like a very new player,no escape in weeks? Not even hatch? That's very bad luck.
You probably found killers that always tunnel,no matter what team/situation and what players they face.
You should start watching guides on you tube on about how to loop the map tiles etc,I don't know if I can make names here but try Otzdarva,he is a Bhvr fog whisperer so it should be safe to name him.
Personally,I'm more of a killer main but I still play some survivor (solo) game from time to time to lessen the heat and I escape many times (I die the majority of it of course, you are not expected to always survive and I'm an unexperienced looper but still).
The biggest tip I can give is,if a killer tunnels you from the start of the match,it means you have all the resources (pallets) at your disposal, keep him busy, you can potentially have a 5 gens chase if the team focuses the generators.
Don't say you cannot do anything about it because that is not true, don't have this kind of mentality, that is not healthy for you or the community in general.
Remember that most of the time tunneling happens for a reason, who plays the killer role a lot knows, generators can be completed in a matter of minutes and chasing and hooking people 12 different times is not always possible (basically never on the higher mmrs),that is not fair and unfun too.
-
You know what?,For once,I'm going to agree to a post of this type.
My problems with the game are mainly related to the cheaters, both blatant and subtle, how is that nobody is talking about them?
I meet them (in groups of 2 too!) almost every day since the last update, from people who heal in 3 seconds without related perks or items for it and can complete generators alone in 20 seconds to the classic trolls flying around with speed hacks, teleports etc.
The game is already terribly boring due to how the general balance is broken (Very fast generators, overpowered perks on both sides, lack of new game modes etc),all of this is not worth the experience no more.
-
Double post bug,sorry

Why do you even want to play DBD if you don't want to do chases??? The whole point is to chase the survivor and kill him.
Against Knight there is no skill involved. It isn’t looping, it is just holding W until you go down. It is mindnumbingly boring.
I'm tired of devs just releasing pure anti loop killers honestly. Artist, Nurse, but now especially KNIGHT.
The only thing fun about DBD is being in chases and looping. Otherwise you sit at a gen and hold M1 all game.
I disagree that a knight chase doesn't have loop involved (the same banner mechanic proofs it) and that it doesn't take a certain skill on both parts, but,as said, that is your opinion and I have to respect it.
-
So,to summarize, looping the killer using strong (and unbalanced?) map tiles through all game is fine, but,if somehow the developers release a killer that have the potential to deal with those tiles, then that character is broken and takes no skill to use and there is no counterplay 🤣.
Are we going to ignore the banner mechanic? The fact you can see the area of guards detection and avoid it?
And don't tell me you think that the new updated knight mechanic where the orb gets invisible on distance takes no skill too (You have to predict where the survivor will be,that sounds kinda skillful to me,unless you think Spirit takes no ability to play too, then I don't know what to say).
I'm sorry, but all this hate seems to me the result of saltiness and entitlement for not being used to face these types of characters and not wanting to adapt to a new mechanic.
Let's start to be more honest with our takes on the game please.
Of course, everyone have their opinions, and these must be respected, but saying that a character takes no skill to use sounds a bit extreme to me.
-
As you said,it happens the same while facing her as survivor, there is a phasing sound bug (or at least I guess it's unintended) where the "woosh" effect is muffled if the spirit is behind an object.
There are so many audio related problems at the moment wich were reported but never acknowledged by the developers.
I would like to mention the boon/hex bug where a blessed/destroyed totem doesn't play the sound it should.
I could walk in the map as killer, and find myself in front of a boon totem wich was never notified to me (no thunder sound)
-
I think I'm the unluckiest knight player around then, all this hate towards this killer and almost everytime I use the guards they either get stuck in some wall, get spinned by the survivors ruining the sandwich tactic or completely bugs out from existence flying in the sky 🤣.
Oh,and also my guards don't go through pallets most often despite me seeing videos in youtube where people do so many cool tactics with the a.i.
Also,in my opinion, killers like this need to exist, because there are some maps wich are very unfair with broken tiles, long walls etc where you can potentially loop a player for the whole trial duration.

he said pyramid head
pyramid head
Pyramid head would be my number 1 most played killer if only I owned the dlc, such a cool character.
I don't get how one can be complaining about pyramid power anti loop possibility,or,at least,I don't get mad when I face him playing survivor,it's so fun trying to predict where he is going to shoot the trail.
-
I am not sure of what you are refering to exactly (are you ranting about players who stays at gates in the endgame, teabags etc?).
The way I see it,unless someone says something really bad in the lobby chat (and it happens quite all the time in this game),there is nothing that can be considered toxic if it happens in game, all the rest can be dealt with enough experience, just don't take it so serious.
-
This sounds like a high ping/packet loss issue.
Do you notice any yellow/red icons up your character hud portrait when this happens?
-
The knight is not only a "tap power for free antiloop" character, when I hear players talking like this,I think they have no idea of what they are talking about or they just want to be edgy for trending reasons.
What about the guard chases after hits follow ups? The macro managing decisions, patrolling the map, defending the generators etc?
More than any other killer in the roster,to be proficient with him,you need to learn how to multitask, you need to be exceptionally tactical with your decisions and you need to learn where to apply pressure.
That is not skill for you?
And about the doctor,in what world he doesn't require skill?
Timing a delayed bolt power wich is very punishing if done wrong because you lose speed while doing it exactly at the same split second a survivor is about to throw a pallet to deny a loop is not skill?
-
Yes it was patched, now there are "only" 29 pallets and a few windows here and there.
🤣
-
Nothing wrong,it's just that the pallets hitbox is bigger than what actually is.
The developers probably forgot to update them after the pallets retexture update.
Or maybe they are made like this on purpose and they work as intended, who knows.

Exactly. I usually always get much more BP than the killer, even if I die.
I'm always like "I consider this an absolute win." because I'm playing for BP to level up, and get more items. As long as I had fun, tried my best and helped my team out, I don't care if I die. It's funny seeing the end screen game and I'm like, yup, I still more BP.
I get OP point though, soloq is still quite a challenge.
Glad to see someone else who can see the big picture,it's so rare.
For some reason, the majority of the playerbase doesn't realize this.
I blame some of the content creators for having a little indirect part in to this (win streaks videos for example),people are so influenced by them and their opinions.
But that is a topic for another discussion maybe.
-
You are right when you say this would be a too subjective topic,so I'm just going to tell you wich character I think suites most your question (and where probably everyone would agree too).
The "Wraith"
I think he is the most balanced character in the game:
- He is super fun to play with and against (I don't think I remember seeing someone complaining about him,unless it was a new player);
- The add ons are super good and rewards the players who likes to be versatile on the field,so many perks synergize with them (you can create pallet breaker builds,generators control,mangled and hemorrage,fast chases etc);
- Versatile power,as mentioned up,just like his add ons,his power opens up many ways of versatility too,you are faster when cloacked (but you cannot attack so it's very balanced),so you can control the generators more easily and maybe catch a survivor off guard thanks to the stealth.
You have anti loop possibility thanks to the haste effect after uncloacking (this is probably the most fun part of his power, these juicy lunge attacks are so hilarious).
-
I'll never get tired of repeating this, there is no such thing as a "win" in this game.
Just because you don't escape all the time or you cannot get 4 kills every match it doesn't mean you lost.
Is it really a loss if you didn't escape your match but you got more than 20,000 points in the end game screen and vice versa as killer?.
Your in game death probably made it possible for the team to finish the generators and escape because you bought time for them, would this be still a loss?
A win,in this game,is an extremely subjective view, you are free to choose your goal, wich could be,score, escapes, kills, hooks etc,and every single one of these (if not all) can happen randomly.
If the only way to win for you,is counting how many times you escape vs how many times you don't,than that is your problem, you are being unrealistic on an asymmetric game.
It's true, the matchmaking feature counts escapes/kills as a positive thing and deaths/escapes as a negative value, but that is just a way for the game to figure wich kind of players you should face/be putted with, and yes,it is problematic and not a very precise feature, but is not your fault for this.
Still,it suits the randomicity of the game,of course, you will meet casual players as well as good players, trolls etc that could influence your trials enjoyment, but hey,as said,it's part of the random experience, and you can always play with your friends to influence things a bit.
-
Developers are E=MC² sided.
-
I agree,to me,map offerings shouldn't even be a thing (or at least, not such a common occurrence),it removes a good portion of the game randomness and they can be used by players to make full 100% profit chance of their builds, wich,in an asymmetrical game, can cause devastating outcomes in terms of balance.
-
I don't particularly agree with your statement,I think everyone should play and use what they want based on their wishes and likings.
There's nothing bad in doing all you can to get a win (wich still,in this game,a "win" is a personal preference and doesn't strictly mean more than 2ks all the time, you can win with hooks, points, safety pips etc),but, renouncing to one of your favourite characters and playstyles in favor of another character wich is more "succesful" to another playstyle is a bit of a flawed mindset,if you are still having fun like this, then go for it,good for you.
But if you are not having fun while doing this,on the long run you will feel burned out and bored by the game.
Luckily, the killers I main and enjoy (spirit, artist and recently the knight even if he is a bit buggy and uncomplete at the moment) are even some of the most powerful in the roster,so I don't quite feel the maps unbalance for example, but damn if the games are equally sweaty and hard,I agree on that part.
When playing in places like garden of joy or the new borgo,I always ask myself "What is a pig,a doctor or a Billy even supposed to do here gameplay wise?",but that is,kinda,a balance problem, not your fault.
I say feel free to do what you want, just don't take the wins=kills matter too serious, try to make other personal goals to reach.

Konami, not do pachinko? Impossible!
Honestly, though, I wouldn't mind a vampire if they avoided the Nosferatu thing. We need someone aside from Trickster (and Wesker, but he's licensed) that can actually get nice skins once in a while. "It looks just like us!" is also a horror theme, after all.
Just remembered that the topic title says "original vampire",so my bad for mentioning a collaboration.
But the Dracula from Castlevania would fit your description so well.
Imagine a mori from him where the developers manage to make him say (with the voice actor from symphony of the night or a similar one) "what is a man,if not a miserable pile of secrets!".
-
A collaboration with the castlevania franchise would be so great and kinda fitting to dbd.
Dracula as a killer and one (or other characters too) of the Belmont as survivor.
The developers could take inspiration from so much material (all the great old games),imagine all the cool stuff that would come out,the art,the music etc, just like what happened with attack on titans but much bigger.
-
It happens as killer with noise/gens bubble completed notifications too,so annoying when using perks like I'm all ears or barbecue.
Make all notifications less graphics invasive please.
-
Yep,not fixed,I noticed the guards are even worse than before and will try to go around already dropped pallets too,it was unplayable on gideon map.
-
Yes,it was reported already.
Upvoted it just in case.
-
This just happened to me today.
-
Yes,it's a very known glitch.
I think it's already posted in the bug section.
I'll check and if it is not available I'll report it there.
-
Is really strong as it is even now,I use it all the time with agitation and pain resonance, try it,such a fun build, every down is a guaranteed scourge hook and you can pressure generators and chase at the same time.
-
This is still a thing in the current update,I'm bumping this report hoping it gets aknowledged.
-
This map and new borgo I would add.
There is a tile there (2 pallets back to back followed by 2 windows walls) wich is so disgusting, that I witnessed even some players in the endgame chat laughing about it.
Not counting the confusing and horrible color saturation that strain the eyes (good luck if you are color blind lol),and all the debris through loops that blocks your passage if you are not careful.

No, it sounds exactly the same. Please stop trying to say it’s a problem in order to get a killer buff to boons. Next you will be saying it needs an aura for killers also so that you can see it. You can already tell when you are in a boon and it take you like 2 seconds to put it out.
You just aren’t paying attention to the noise, it is still there.
It's true!,it's bugged,I play with headphones all the time,it's something you notice after a while, the sound of fully cleansing and blessing boons and hexes bugs out sometimes.
Edit: Sorry for double post, phone lagged and touched post comment 2 times

It happens to me too!,sometimes the "Boom!" sound doesn't trigger,it should be reported to the bug section then.
It's the same thing with hex totems, sometimes they will disappear right in the distance but make no explosion sound.

Nothing is changing with the pips, at least with how it's worded on the dev blog. All that is changing is the statement you get about the match is being changed from the amount of pips earned to the number of kills gotten. This is solely to make adepts not as difficult.
I really hope it is like you say, I had just this doubt that I wanted to clarify.
If it's still all unchanged on the general part,it is going to be an amazing patch!.
-
If you are new to the game, always read your opponents perks in the endgame screen, that way you can understand what the players were using and prepare better for a counter the next time you face something like this so you will know what to do.
By your description,it seems like your friend met a team who was using the "Boon exponential" and/or the "Unbreakable" perks.
- Exponential makes it so a survivor can bless a dull totem with an area effect that let them get up if downed in said area,the killer can "snuff" these totems by interacting with them;
- Unbreakable also makes it so a survivor can get up from the downed state without external help, but it can only be done once per game.
Regarding the insults at the end game, that is unfortunately how some people act in the community, just try to ignore them, report them if it's something really bad or hide the chat completely if you can't stand it (there is a button for that on the bottom right of chat window).
Don't take them serious, insults are often worth as much as the people who are saying them.
