  • Too bad we cant see the Killers ping in the lobby anymore, who would have thought people will take advantage of that.... Apparently not BHVR.

    Amen to that!

If a killer go AFK... do the gens and leave.

If you don't, as survivors YOU are holding the game hostage and should get reported and banned.

No one can force a killer to play these ***** maps they keep throwing out there... no one.

My friend the topic is about shard/xp farming killers that afk with a macro, it has nothing to do with people not wanting to play certain maps.

  • Yeah please get rid of hindered aswell, especially the Wesker and Blight ones.

"After starting to use it it's impossible to go back"

At least u're honest, compared to the rest that tries to play it off as an "accessibility option".

  • Seeing streamers on their 400+ winstreak going against players that dont even look back ONCE in chase tells everything you need to know about how bad the current MMR system is.

Newer players should not be the little toy for some max mmr players that just happened not find a match instantly. Sacrificing match quality over a few seconds in the queue is bad IMO. Nobody enjoys 3minute stomps where you get 3k BP, sadly it happens way to often.

Constant lobby dodging from Killers because of survvors prestige level is also very bad for the matching. I stopped playing my p100, suddenly almost no more killer dodges in the lobby and the match quality significantly increased. WHY IS SURV PRETIGE EVEN SHOWN TO THE KILLER BEFORE THE GAME?!

For me it feels like there are not more than 3 brackets of mmr, either u're brand new, average mrr or high mmr. But it still feels like average mmr players can still be matched with brand new and high mmr, i can get a killer with 100hours, die in that match and get a 7k+ hours comp player from one of the top EU teams in the next match, this should never happen. Give us more MMR brackets or, if there are already more than what it feels like, match them more strictly together instead of these heavily missmatched games we regularly get, nobody enjoys those matches.

Surely you can see where problems arise when an addon allows you to do something that should take ~20 seconds in 5 seconds. Literally a quarter of the time it normally would take.

You mean like killer add ons or perks that let you down someone immediately?

Your reason is incorrect though. The bug happens a lot, and many survivors purposely try to get the bug to happen. The lack of outrage is because the bug favors survivors.

First you accuse me of sth i never said, now you just keep repeating yourself, i think we can end the conversation here since its not even the topic of the post.

It’s called server validation, and it’s considered the most fair way to determine hits, for survivors and for killers.

And the forced short m1 bug steals hits very often, and it is worth talking about. If you honestly don’t think the bug is a big deal, then it should be fine if it’s fixed, right? After all, if it’s really as rare as you claim, then you shouldn’t even notice or care if it is fixed, right?

Why would i care if this bug is fixed? What are you on about lmao. I just told you why i think the isnt a big uproar about it.

"Being affected by a bug is a skill issue." ~ @Göch

Wow. That is definitely a hot take. I can't even argue with that logic (if one can even call it logic) because the very concept of cause and effect doesn't seem to apply in your world.

I can say however, that what you stated before is wrong. A survivor is not dependent on the killer's 87° FOV to mindgame and escape the chase. If that was the case Shadowborn would be the strongest perk in the game. By a huge margin. You can still break line of sight with the killer and because they can't see anything they wouldn't be able to see anyway by slightly turning their camera they will still be unable to spot you. If your "mindgame" has to rely on the killer not turning to look in the general direction you went, I would argue that mindgame wasn't all so great to begin with.

This is not a nerf to survivors and it is not meant to increase the killer's height by 8 ft to allow them to see survivors over loops or give them free aura vision through walls. It is a change to allow players, who need it to play killer without sacrificing a perk to an accessibility option. Just like the change to Spine Chill and the visual TR were implemented to no longer gate keep an accessibility option for hearing impaired survivor players.

Yeah but being hit 3 steps away from a window is completely fine on the other end right? You are aware that the Hitreg/netcode whatever you want to call it favors killers pretty heavily so this m1 "bug" that happens once in a blue moon is not even worth talking about. Talking about the game "stealing hits from the killer" while 2 out of 3 killers you play against have an 8x on their melee weapon due to their ping.

“Survivors not knowing what what other survivors are doing” was supposed to be a core game immersion, but that got changed….

Just because something was intended years ago, doesn’t mean it needs to stay that way forever.

And yes, we do have a lot of people that hate one side of the game. How else can you explain the lack of outrage on the forced short m1 bug that can steal hits from killers? Do you think it’s “healthy for both sides of the game” for a bug to steal hits from the killer? When this bug steals hits from the killer, do survivors think it’s exciting? Do survivors think they’ve “outplayed” the killer, when in reality the killer got outplayed by a bug stealing their hits?

Yeah mate because survs not knowing what others do only affected Solo Q, and the whole intention behind it was to bring the level of Solo Q vs SWF closer so its more managable to adjust the strengh of killer/surv without ######### over either Solo Q or Killers.

I explain the lack of outrage towards that "bug" that it is more of a skill issue, you can pretty much avoid it most of the time.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

Actually, the big difference is the number of survivors sided voices on these forums is way higher than the number of killer sided voices, so eruption got way more complaints. There weren’t “complaints by everyone”. We clearly had a bunch of killers using the perk, so they were obviously ok with it. It’s just that it’s so easy for survivor issues to become hot topics, that people assume it’s proof the survivor issues are more important.

Similarly, the reason why it seems “most people are absolutely fine” with killer FoV, is because it’s a killer issue. It’s kind of like how “most people are absolutely fine” that we have a forced short m1 bug, that can steal hits from the killer…… because the bug hurts killers, so the majority of the people on these forums are fine with it staying in the game.

There were more than enough killer players that were saying erruption is busted and needs to change. Not everyone is blind on his second eye and only plays one side and hates the other one. Theres enough people out there with reasonable takes for both sides, but speaking up for or against one side will always let people think you only play one of both.

I play surv more but i still play killer for sure but i play enough killer to have an opinion about it, and i dont think the FOV needs a change. Its part of the 1st vs 3rd person immersion that the killer has a limited FOV so you have a chance of mindgaming him and "disappearing" outside his FOV, even if just the last part of you scratchmarks is outside the fov and allows you to win the mindgame. If you suddenly make this aspect worse a big part of surv gameplay gets a heavy nerf, not everyone is a 5k hours tight looper with perfect pathing and map knowledge you know. There's a reason people sacrifice a perk slot to run Shadowborn.

Read again, play a game of killer and maybe try to understand what I actually said. There is not other incentive not to tunnel other than to actively play inefficient, which handicaps you and makes you lose matches you would otherwise win.

Of course you punish people by tunneling. You punish them for being an easy target. Would you stop doing gens and run towards the killer to get hooked when their match doesn't go well? No, you'd use their lack of pressure against them by sticking to gens and finish the game before they can make a comeback. There is nothing wrong with that. That is simply your best play.

There is absolutely 0 reason why a killer shouldn't tunnel other than "It might make the survivors unhappy." Do you honestly expect killer players to place that as their top priority? When survivors wouldn't do the same thing? I don't blame either side for playing how they want to play as long as they don't break any of the game's rules. I'm just saying there is no reason to play nice.

I play killer, dont know why you think i wouldnt, doesnt mean i play the braindead tunnel at 5 gens playstyle, nor that i think its necessary.

Yet, the discussion is that the game should change in a way that tunneling is not the "most efficient" way to play. The Topic is about the game mechanics, not about you feeling the necessity of tunneling to preserve pressure because you are scared of someone pressing CTRL at the exit gate.

  • @Xernoton said:

It actually works the other way around. Pain Res does not regress completed gens but it does regress gens that have 50% progress.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/375045/killers-should-be-punished-for-tunnelling-and-not-rewarded

How exactly would you punish the killer for tunneling and how would you compensate them? Because the most common suggestions turn out to be flat out nerfs to killers and not really solutions to the issue at hand. If it was worth it going for 12 hooks, more killers would do it. But as long as the only incentive to not tunnel is to basically throw the game, get teabagged at the exit gate and harassed in end game chase I can't blame anyone for tunneling the hell out of the first survivor they find.

Such a dumb argument honestly, you dont even know who you're playing against and blindly "punish" them with a boring tunnel game just for the small chance they might be toxic players... "All survivors are toxic and deserve to be tunneled" Yeah great mindset!

We were told by a dev that the eruption nerf got a boosted priority because it was a "hot topic". This means that if multiple people want to each make their own post about FoV sliders.... they absolutely should do that, because "hot topics" might get boosted priorities.

Yeah but buffed erruption was around for a short amount of time and caused a big uptick in complaints by everyone, the FOV is like that forever and most people are absolutely fine with it.

And don't tell me those "accessubility feature" people wont be the first to set FOV to minimum mid match after beeing blinded from a sick angle. Or even better, the whole new discussion about "why can i with my 120° FOV be blinded from such an angle? CHANGE FLASHLIGHTS!"

The more important question is “how many hundreds of times must this thread exist, before a dev gives feedback on it”?

We still have zero feedback from the devs.

Spamming is these posts is not the way to go, im sure they saw the posts, apparently they didnt want to take a stance, like with most things that are asked here, it is what it is. Trying to sell this as an accessibility option when such a super small minority of people is affected is IMO the wrong approach. Its clear people want it for gameplay purposes, at least be honest...

  • How often will this topic get spammed? Theres like 20 active threats about this....

  • @jesterkind said:

Based on what we know so far, it looks like the legitimate form of camping - IE, patrolling around near-ish the hook and actually taking chase with the first survivor you see - should be largely unaffected. This new system should, on paper, only affect you if you're stubbornly standing by the hook and refusing to take chase away from it, a la the infamous facecamping Bubba scenario.

And if you are in that scenario, good, you should be punished. You should play the game and employ the actual strategies available to the killer, not just stand in one place and wait for the timer to go down.

Thats what people don't get sadly.

Just because they could "abuse" a bad game mechanic to secure kills that didnt require skill or even interacting with the game at all doesnt mean they need to be compensated for it when it gets patched out. Other people do fine without it already.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442254#Comment_3442254

There are situations where camping is obviously superior. The most common one is if the survivor is close to death. If a survivor is 30 seconds from death, there's no point chasing another survivor, which will likely take more than 30 seconds. Camping in this situation guarantees a death and potential additional down while chasing another survivor is only a down after a long chase. Also, the camping nerf isn't exclusive to Bubba. It affects all killers.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442260#Comment_3442260

Bubba can still play that way but it's a very large nerf. These are the nerfs:

    • No other survivor will come to rescue. This means gens will go much faster and Bubba can't get a free down on another survivor
    • It isn't a buff. The survivor will always wait until the last second before the next hook stage before they unhook themselves. This means that the camper won't save any time and will lose far more time from having to chase again. In the best case scenario where Bubba can down them again with 1 chainsaw, it's another 20-25 seconds wasted from chasing and hooking again. Secondly, survivors can't protect the unhooked surivor against a Bubba since they will be already downed or running into a Chainsaw.
    • Depending on if there are nearby pallets and windows, Bubba may not get the down from a single Chainsaw and in that case, it becomes a regular chase.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3442265#Comment_3442265

Nope. It's a strategy. If the devs really thought it was abuse, they would have also prevented it in EGC too. The fact that they went out of their way to disable the anti-camping in EGC means that they acknowledge it as a legitimate strategy. Camping is a strong strategy in some situations and for some killers. If they are nerfing camping, killers need to be compensated for it.

" If a survivor is 30 seconds from death, there's no point chasing another survivor"

Thats exactly the reason why they do this change my friend, you're just proving why the change necessary.

  • @TheRealConsent said:

This is such a horrible idea.

If i need a 4k, especially due to a challenge, I want that 4k. And just because the game literally favors survivors when the killer does well, i need to slug the last guy too in hopes of getting that last kill.

If the killer manages to kill 3 people before the last gen pops, THEY WON. The hatch is literally a free escape for survivors that lost the game. What do killers have? Do i get an button spawn on the map that kills one random survivor after the last generator pops? Why do survivors get to escape? Its literally a mess when you have a 4k challenge.

Even worse, when the killer finds hatch, unless you can watch both gates at the same time, which is rare, the survivor wins. You go to the furthest gate with obstructions, wait for the killer to patrol, get a free escape and keep your MMR. The killer cant even do anything when they find hatch if the survivor wants to guarantee an escape and camp next to a gate. If you close it, sometimes a gate opens up by the time you walk there even if you hold down on M1 straight away.

Here's what it comes down to:

    • Survivors teabag at gates if they get all gens
    • Survivors teabag on hatch if they find it first
    • Survivors wait next to gate if killer finds it first, teabag at gate

    What can a killer do?

    • Stand on top of hatch

There's literally NOTHING you can do when the gates are far from each other/obstructed. If you find hatch, the guy escapes with gates. If you dont find hatch, the guy escapes through hatch.

Why is this a thing? Dont get me wrong, i like giving hatch to survivors whom i think deserve it. But that doesnt mean i want an RNG free escape for survivors, ESPECIALLY because i simply won the game. If i deserve the 4k, i want the 4k.

Hopefully next time before you post something about hatch, you first offer yourself to the killer on your next 4 man escape lobby.

Congratulations, you missed the ENTIRE point of the suggestion. Hopefully next time before you post something you at least read what the post is about and try to understand the intentions behind it.

Back to the Topic: The mechanic of spawning the hatch delayed after one last surv is standing will give the killer enough time to hook the down and look for the last surv before the hatch even spawns, making the 4k slug not necessary. And like i said in me previous response (which you also completely ingored 'cause ure too upset with the suggestion and just mindlessly started typing), i'd be completely fine with ANY change as long as the result is not being slugged for up to 4 minutes. Also when im the one slugged its hard to "offer myself to the killer".

I dont know why you are so defensive about this topic, its not about denying the killer the 4k, its about changing the mechanic to avoid constant slugging for the 4k, having one surv spend 2-4 minutes on the ground every second match is a bad mechanic, and the blame is the way the Hatch works, that should change.

  • You should earn your Kills and not cheese them by camping with an instadown ability. You can still secure your kills in endgame, but otherwise please PLAY THE GAME instead of reving your chainsaw infront of a hooked survivor.

  • You can do completely fine as bubba wihtout camping.

  • @SpiritsHusk said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/377462/hatch-spawn-mechanic-should-be-reworked

Personally think the hatch should just be completely removed, instead, both exit gates are able to be opened as soon as 3 survivors are sacrificed, which makes it more skill-based than luck based, there are meta perks such as no way out that would help the killer, a few more that would help survivors as well whilst there is nothing to aid finding a hatch other than an offering.

Generally a good idea that i wouldn't mind, but that would not solve the problem of avoiding the "last man standing" situation by slugging. For me personally, its not about giving or taking the possibility of getting a petty escape, i couldnt care less, if we lost the game then we lost, the problem the act of constant slugging to avoid certain mechanic.

  • Can we finally stop the cap with the FOV slider?

  • "it's 2023 Accessibility options is more important than balance"

No, they are not. Especially if they have that much impact.

I am 100% confident that most of the people screetching for a bigger FOV want it to get an advantage and not because its necessary for anyone to play. They removed streched resolution for a reason.

  • @Nos37 said:

Otherwise it would just be a hook-each-survivor-once-and-watch-them-teabag-in-exits simulator and that will surely kill the game.

You can meet the win condition as killer without tunneling, but you cant as a surv without completing gens. That's just a very bad take.

Yeah i definetly see how people will do this all the time, who cares about doing generators when you can AFK to get a short duration of no player/killer collision that does nothing unless you are blocked in a corner.

  • Trust me playing surv is same same. I'm not even at 2k hours, i played most of ty playtime in 2017-2019, yet i get constantly matched against people with 5-10K hours playtime and guess what, the matches are absolutely miserable. Often paired with randoms that have even less playtime than me, making me wonder what even the intention of the MM is, its very clear the killer will win even before the match started.

I think a big part is the constant lobby dodging from killers when they see survivor prestige, because lobby fill up is always worse matchmaking than the initial pairing. Plus the fact that MMR Cap is so low that no matter how much you win, you'll still be matched against medium players just make the whole matchmaking a really bad experience as long as you are not one of "the best" that farm everyone while not climbing MMR due to the super low cap.

  • If i understood it correctly in the 7Y stream they said they will introduce sth like player cards and banners, i guess they will be shown instead of the current Prestige symbol (or im stupid and they dont). That would be the best announcement from the whole stream for me personally, i think they said the'll be in the next tome iirc.

  • Survivor POV slider would be sick tho. But they intentionally removed streched resolution because it gave u bigger FOV, so im pretty sure they dont want people to have bigger FOV.

  • Its usually when Killers dodge my lobby and get refilled that the games are very bad. Sadly due to my surv prestige i get dodged constantly. I had a Doc player yesterday that didnt use his power ONCE the entire match, i have 1.8k hours and its not like i died 20 games in a row before, why do i get matches against that poor guy.

  • They removed it cause survivors rightfully dodged high ping killers to not get unenjoyable matches with killers hitting you 5sec after vaulting, but apparently killers dodging high prestige survivors to get "easy" games doesnt seem to bother them.

  • I really hope they announce sth. for the next update regarding prestige levels. I spent so much time and effort into getting high prestige and i absolutely regret it. I get an average of 3 Killers dodgin the lobby and the killers that stay are usually nurse and blight or killers with their top tier loadouts to make sure we dont have fun in any way.

Is it really MY FAULT that i like one suvivor more than the rest? Do you really need to punish your dedicated playerbase for putting effort into the game? You dont even get rewards or anything, you just get ######### on by BHVR having no clue about their game and apparently also no interest in improving it. Its been asked for far over half a year and they didnt even speak about it ONCE. Very very disappointed with this tbh, makes me not want to play anymore.

  • As long as your team does the gens as efficient as possible yes. If you have randoms on their team and they do their tome challenges no.

  • As usual in online games, the community optimised the fun out of the game. You could play way more chill back then (started 2017) and have a good time without breaking a sweat. Nowadays if you dont play in an "efficient" manner you're not gonna have a good time. Tunneling/camping and other not so fun starts weren't that rampart and it was acutally frowned upon playing like that, but over the years enough people on reddit told each other its okay to not care about other peoples fun so here we are all not having fun.

SBMM also plays a big part, theres just no fun getting farmed 5 games in a row by a 8k hours blight/nurse/4manSWF but thats sadly just how SBMM "works" in DbD. You can go on a 10+ games losing streak and you wont notice a difference, but one single win will get you back to 10+ games of sweatlords. I think DbD has one of the worst matchmakings out there and i miss the times before it was introduced.

  • Thanks for providing a perfect example that prestige should be hidden. People are smart enough to pick low prestige chars for bully squads, you just want easy games.

Am i not allowed to play against "low tier killer" when i pick a high prestiged char in your opinion?

This unironically. SWFs can consistently stack bloodpoint offerings making it take significantly less time to get to P100. You would go insane going for P100 purely in solo queue the entire time. Also, I don't bother dodging P100. I've played against enough sweats and bullies that it doesn't matter anymore. They usually mean less points though. Most P100 squads last second switch when I'm not really paying attention anyways.

I mean i mosty solo q or at max play duo, i could be easily P100, but i dropped the Project because right now prestige only has downsides, so i spread my BP over as much different survs as possible to avoid getting them to a higher prestige fast. I still think its super bad game design, i just want to enjoy playing my favorite survivor without all the drawbacks, but atm im 99% of the time playing a low prestige in hope i get at least SOME enoyable matches.

What bothers me the most is that they are just completely silent about this as if they dont even care. People are asking on every single plattform, there are even Reddit Posts about it with over 4k Upvotes and ive NEVER seen a single response to that topic. Aren't there even community managers on this Forum? Can they maybe give us some insight about this?

P100 has nothing to do with swf most of the time. If it's full P100 lobby that yes indicates swf but if it just one or two probably not. More often lower prestiges are swf.

This Veinslay guy just shows how misleading the Survivor Prestige is to Killer Mains. TBH if i was a 4stack swf or a bully squad i'd tell everyone to pick low prestige chars and we'd have the best time of our lifes since apparently NO KILLER EVER would expect us to be good.

  • @Veinslay said:

P100 on a survivor indicates SWF more than anything, so I'm not surprised a lot of killer players dodge them. It's unfortunate because it messes up the matchmaking system and causes mismatches due to backfilling. This happens to me all the time.

How on earth does P100 corellate with SWF?! Because the average solo Q player loses his mind before reaching 100 or what? xD

  • Its very very bad recently, i rarely get close matches. I'll get 10 dyhard comp tunnel gamers in a row with close to 0 chance of living as a solo Q player, then i mayyybe get one less experienced Killer, maybe escape and then the next 10 matches will be comp tunneling again. I played VS. multiple killers from Comp Teams such as Infinity and Eternal while im not even at 2k hours and maybe surviving 30% of my matchesm meanwhile my teammates usually seem to be either newer players or players that only care about their tome challenges.

In my matches so far it only made her patroll the 3 gen faster.

  • They removed stretched res because it gave you a bigger FOV. If they added an Option to increase FOV every surv would be able to see over every single tile in the game, so no more mindgames period, watch old surv vids to see how broken it is/was. For killers it would remove a big part of the 3rd person vs 1st person balancing, its one of the things where survs habe an advantage over killers, they can see around them, Killers cant, you can hide in certain places because the killer FOV doesnt reach them if they dont actively look around. Also Killers with higher POV can be blinded from almost a 90° angle, so facing the wall wont 100% protect you from saves. It will change so much balance wise that i doubt they will change anything about it.

  • I'm fine with getting "nothing" as a reward as long as they finally change that the killer can see your prestige level before the game starts. Rigtht now you literally get punished for prestiging your character.
