  • Funny, I was feeling like "let's run straight for the killer coming back to the hook" day.

Dying Light just shouldn't deactivate if the obsession dies, you should just no longer be able to get stacks.

Thanata just needs better numbers and should include dead survivors.

This is the change I think most of us would be happy with. Afterall, Save The Best For Last lets you keep tokens.

Well, the difference is that you can still hit that survivor again, get more points and hook him, while a survivor getting camped gets nothing.

So what? It's counterable. You want better killers? Be a better survivor and punish the behavior

I don't camp unless I got people rushing the hook before I leave. It's pointless as a good set of survivors will punish the behavior. I've learned better and do other things.

Punish the behavior, and those who want to be rewarded stop. Say nothing about the camping and move on, you deny the trolls who camp you for lols what they want.

It's a win win either way.

But posts like this? They just feed the trolls...

  • I finally got around to using Plague. I'm getting the impression really fast that using the pools the moment they become available generally a bad idea because their positioning can cost you time.

I think it's generally better to let the pools build up if you got people cleansing, and just use them anytime more than 2 are used. That way you have a better chance of catching a pool midchase or near a hook/generator you were at anyway.

So to me, the apple seems okay, but i'm not sure I'd call it a game changer.

  • I know that doing the gens instead of hook diving somebody getting camped is boring, but that doesn't mean that hook diving is any less brainless and pathetic.

  • You didn't put Doc at top, therefore your argument is invalid.

    IMO anyway.

  • Now that actually losing the killer isn't as braindead as it used to be, the weaker players left.

Good riddance. We now have the opportunity to train up a stronger batch.

  • In the old system, you would of still been dead anyway as they would of grabbed you mid-leap.

Killer can no longer grab mid-leap, but he still gets the preference in a standoff. This is how it was always meant to be.

You say this as if its some horrible thing i'm suggesting but when its time for the game to start all the niceness goes out the window. There is no care for the other sides points.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/722858#Comment_722858

Bound Envelope is not a big boost. Stop trying to come up with these fake solutions. Killers should not profit off me.

And why should anybody care what the other side gets in points? This is a PvP game.

That's half your problem is caring what the other side gets or does. You should only focus on your own rewards and your own game.

I used to get upset when I felt like I was feeding survivors undeserved points - it was a large source of my anger and stress.

But then I learned to just let it go and play my own game. I don't care about feeding points from stuns now. I don't care that people get protection points when I slap somebody out of my way.

Just let it go man - who cares what your opponants are doing or not doing. Focus on playing or counterplaying. If you sweat the tiniest details like you are, you're just going to be miserable.

  • It's interesting how so many people just want to punish or deny the other side in such meaningless ways.

  • @Steve0333 said:

Dying light is a strong perk but you shouldn't avoid going after the obsession. You still want to put pressure on them. If you find them, down them and put them on the hook. If the obsession commits suicide on first hook or dc's then you just slowed the game down a lot by getting rid of one survivor quickly. It's a win/win either way. You just don't want to camp and tunnel the obsession or keep going after them. Dying light isn't a perk for killers that like to tunnel. Just play normally.

The game becomes very easy to manage for the killer once you get down to only two survivors. So as long as you kill one other survivor before the obsession you'll be good. You don't have to kill the obsession last. You probably won't need dying light the whole game. You just need it until the game becomes easy to manage.

    This guy gets it

  • Just had a 3 man swf all disconnect the moment they realized they were up against a plague - and I wasn't a pushover

Pretty pathetic, given all my perks were level one and I don't even have Thano, Dying Light, and Ruin

    This community is such garbage.

  • They've said repeatedly this will never be a thing. They want people to be free to use whatever survivor they want.

And I'm afraid they're right. I mean, we saw it before we had such a variety of survivors when a certain character was picked above the others because she blended in better with the dark background more than anybody else.

if you add survivor passives, a meta will develope and we'll see less variety in survivors themselves.

that's just how gamers are, always min-maxing.

  • Naw, hatch is in the best position it's ever been since this game released. Last guy still gets a fighting chance to escape when his team is garbage, the killer gets a fighting chance to prevent it, game gets forced to a close without a long standoff or stalemate.

Incidently, this game is all about reversal's of fortune from moment to moment. That's the very basis of perks like NOED or Adrenhiline. It's the basis of addins that make illusionary pallets or let you instantly heal somebody to full. It's what adds tension to the game.

Let's be honest with ourselves - the reason we discuss such things is people don't like feeling cock-blocked. But if you remove these reversals of fortune from the game, it'll get really boring really fast.

I get that but what if she has enduring, and brutal strength then you're just kinda screwed at that point. Wouldn't it be easier to just run her around when she has the corrupt purge so that way she moves slower?

Actually, she's be better off running Enduring/Spirit Fury. Brutal Strength is good, but you'd get more bang for your buck with Spirit Fury. And even then, it takes two broken pallets to even get Spirit Fury activated which means you still have plenty of opportunities to waste her time.

  • So here's a question... what's the most miserable build you'd have to face.

Legion running Thana, Dying Light, Bloody Butcher, Save The Best For Last

Doc - Bloated terror radius with anti-skill check perks and addins who has just gotten a 3 gen nest set up (I mention this one because I used to get so much hate doing this)

Plague - with Dying Light and Thanaphobia.

  • I think the reasoning is that you still have loops as a defense even if you are broken. When given the choice of running jungle gyms broken or going up against a machinegun huntress, most experienced survivors are going to choose the former.

  • Eh, most of the pallets are unsafe. And with your increased lunge distance while in tier 3, you should be annihilating them at most of those loops.

About the only thing that may hamper you is the reduced lines of sight which may make getting a good bout of stalking off a PITA - but that works both ways as stealth killers generally thrive in enclosed environments like Lery's and Hawkins.

  • Killing Floor crossover of both one of the agents and one of the major zeds would be pretty badass. I'd forgive them for the last dozen mistakes if that happened.

Now that I think of it, a balanced version of Dr Hans Volter as a killer would incredible. He's easily my favorite KF2 boss aesthetically.

  • The one time I have gone complete apeshit on a survivor teammate was when we were facing a plague.

I'm there, on the hook, fully corrupted. Claudette rescues me.

Keep in mind I'm fully broken from the plague, and Claudette just has just a wisp of it for rescuing me.

The stupid *INSERT EXTREMELY FOUL WORD HERE* went to the pool 5 meters in front of the hook and cleansed it off herself with me right there next to her, puking and broken.

I chased that stupid bleepity bleep all over the map trying to puke on her. I eventually found the killer and ratted her out I was so pissed off.

I switched to killer the next map and continued my rampage into the next game.

Look, I can get it if you want to get that crap off of you. But shouldn't the priority go to the guy who's fully sick and BROKEN from the plague before you go and use that damn pool?

  • I've been on the fence with this change as I do see both sides. Unfortunately, there's just no good way to fix this issue that I can think of.

  • Survivor

I prefer to avoid confronting the killer unless I have no choice. I'm usually the guy pounding out gens and I always make sure I take out at least one totem every map. I'm not the best looper, as I prefer to try and shake the killer instead of wasting time. I'll always try to go for at least one rescue a game - and I always take responsibility for my rescues. If I unhook you and the killer shows up, you can bet I'm going to beeline for the killer and buy you time to get away. However, I am not afraid to ditch people who play badly or sandbag their teammates. I despise killers who farm and grit my teeth in frustration anytime I get one.

    Killer

Completely and utterly ruthless. If I'm a killer, I expect no quarter from the survivors, so I give none in return. It's rare that I display mercy. If I do, it's usually because a survivor's team was so utterly and totally trash that I feel bad for the last guy standing and cut him a break. Camping is not my default behavior - I tend to prefer finding another guy to chase as it's more tactically sound as it ties up more survivors. If you rescue with me standing there, I WILL go after the guy being rescued because what you are doing is dumb and it should be punished. If you have borrowed time, it doesn't matter as forcing the mend still buys me time and I still have the option of chasing the idiot who did the dumb rescue.

I play all the killers, but Doc is my main. If you see me on a railgun build, I'm not taking the game seriously anymore and am just memeing.

  • So I guess the double backs, trail confusion and outright ghosting killers like I've been doing for years is not viable.

    Who would of thought...

  • And I had one guy immediately disconnect upon seeing I was a spirit with Rancor and they were the obsession

That's pretty sad for them, because I'm actually pretty awful at playing Spirit.

  • Bloodhunt is the last place I'd use spirit. Shocky boi doc prints bloodpoints even before modifiers, even if he's doing badly. They ought to be leveraging that instead.

  • You know, this might encourage me to let myself risk a DS from a non-obsession if it means the obsession will get moved and keep the perk in play.

  • I've always felt that all offerings should be secret till the game is over. Hiding them doesn't really hide what the offering is. It's kinda a waste of time IMO.

Either show them all or hide them all.

  • So interesting how survivors can have so many second chances from perks that cover their failures, but entity forbid the killers have one so powerful and completely counterable.

Face it, the reason you don't like NOED is because it cock-blocks you from the exit, just like Adrenhiline cock-blocks the killer.

They're mechanics might be different, but they have the same emotional effect on their opponents.

  • My son ran into something simular and we believe it has something to do with our internet cutting out for a second and desynching him from the host.

he tried to get into a locker to avoid the killer, lost connection, but re-established to find himself on the killer's shoulder and unable to interact with anything or wiggle. At the end of the game, killer tried to let him go and my son had to walk out of the exit then back in to show the killer he couldn't leave before the killer got the message and hooked him so the game could end and he could get what points he could.

Given the symptoms are simular, I am posting this now in hopes that it offers any dev who might read a clue as to where to look.

While I'm all for murdering survivors, I don't wish to see them destroyed by bugs.

  • Of Flesh and Mud because Hag at release was BAAAAAAAAAAAD

She's fine now, but I still hate playing her and against her.

I got over it when I started enjoying Ace enough to make him my main Survivor.

  • What you are arguing is apple and oranges.

Demigorgan still stays on his side of the pallet. Legion gains considerable ground on the survivor by crossing the pallet.

  • You posted a video of a 3 blink nurse - most of the community is in agreement that the 3 blink nurse is broken

    That's also wrong.

NOED removes 2 health states on hit = insta down.

Adrena heal only 1 health state = if down then up to injured and from injured to full hp.

This is true, it's only one state.

But let's not also forget that it will delay firing when your hooked as well. So basically you failed, your on a hook, but you get it anyway.

  • Wither or not NOED activates is up to the survivors. Ya'll need to stop bitching about it and make it a point to always cleanse one totem or two every match. I guarantee that if every survivor did that, you'd rarely see NOED.

Yo. Yall are not calm lmao. Issa discussion board. No wonder people get stoned in other parts of the world for dissenting opinions. Toxic ass community. -- Some of you are straight though & were very helpful in helping sway my opinion. I thank you.

Interesting false equivalency you got there buddy.

  • Not really an OP change, more of a QoL change for the Doctor.

Instead of screams, I want the survivors to join me in my maddened laughter.

    EDIT

I mean... think about that. You are near a survivor who's at Tier 3 madness. Instead of a scream, you hear this mad giggle on the other side of the wall. That would be so awesome... I kinda want this for real now.

  • You think corrupted purge is unfair....

Oh you poor deluded soul. You haven't met a huntress with iridescent hatchets and na Eboni Mori yet....

  • That's no contest, the Doctor is my boi.

  • I have an idea - instead of shining a light on these toxic losers, we just focus on not being asshats ourselves?

  • I'm usually satisfied with two regardless of what the Emblems say.

  • The current emblem system is messed up and can be safely ignored.

  • Running around injured against most killers feels like a waste of time to me. You save what, 16 seconds? Most chases are longer than that, and you just halved your potential chase time by giving the killer one less down.

Note I said most killers. This is a different issue when talking about Plague. There you got a choice of the above or turning her into a machine-gun huntress.

  • INB4 this gets inadvertently reverted

I mean, I love the devs - but we all know it's gonna happen.

  • I dunno, maybe you should TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR RESCUES?

  • I just want Mori's to be left alone. But I'm willing to consider concessions on the Ebony Mori and ONLY the Ebony Mori. The other two mori's do not impact the game as dramatically as the other two.

  • Mine wasn't as interesting as above, but still amused me.

Map was rotten fields, before ECG so I resigned to just letting the last survivor have the hatch.

So I ran chainsaw laps around the field on Billy making racecar sounds to amuse myself. I figured the blendette would just walk around the edge of the map

Yah... that didn't happen. the girl walked across my path randomly and got chainsawed.

    Hmm... I'll take it.

It might be just my monitor, but whenever I play killer without an adjustment software everything is darker than the ######### void, same thing with my survivor

I had this issue as well. Investigation into it found that it was a firmware setting in my monitor that caused it to autodim anytime the screen was dark. Made not only DbD hard to play, but anything that had a night cycle like ARK or Dayz. I got around it with adjustment software as well - just went into my nvidia control panel and overrode the monitor settings then turned up the brightness by a factor of 20 percent. Never had an issue again.

  • I'm currently working on Jeff and have found that his Dissonance perk is surprisingly good if you're like me and just like to avoid the killer completely. Break Down is funny, but I don't find much use for it. As for Aftercare... just bring Bond ffs.

As for Legion - pretty weak killer right now. But his Dissonance perk is pretty damn good as it tells you where half the survivor team is when it fires. Mad Grit is pretty meh. Iron Maiden can be interesting on certain killer builds - but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.

IMO, Dissonance is what makes Legion worth getting as it's a damn good perk over all. It's also one of the few perks that synergizes well with the killer it released with.

  • Self Care isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Yes, you're at it for 32 seconds, but you only save 16 second having a teammate do it for yourself. In terms of generator time lost it's....

    • Self Care : 32 seconds of potential generator time lost on one player who likely didn't need to find a teammate and your health kits last longer.
    • Without Self Care: 16 seconds of potential generator time lost on TWO players for the same total of 32 seconds of potential generator time lost. Additionally, you have to spend time finding a teammate to heal you.

Now compare that to Inner Strength

    • It takes 14 seconds to cleanse a totem, and 8 seconds to heal in a locker at level 3 for a total of 22 seconds of non-generator time to heal. Travel time is a non-issue for most people who like the perk as they are likely going to cleanse totems anyway and lockers are easy to find.

Frankly, I find Inner Strength and Self-Care to be well balanced between each other.

  • I love this game

But I'm gonna level with you

This game is great for streaming, but it's absolutely terrible for competitive play

In fact, I encourage you to check up on some of our biggest influencers - they'll likely tell you the exact same thing.

    Good luck.
