"Adjusted the matchmaking logic so that Survive With Friends groups are matched using the highest rank of all players in the group (instead of the average). The 3.2.0 patch introduced an issue that caused Survive With Friends group matchmaking to be skewed towards Rank 20, which is also fixed with this change."

It took you guys 3 years to solve this stupid issue.

IKR they seriously were using the AVERAGE rank. SMH why would you have mm swf use an average and not the highest? This is actually a huge change to finally stop high rank bullies. Sad it took so long.

  • lets not celebrate yet, we still have to see if it actually works.

  • It's a step, but D/Cing is still largely unpunished. Now just havw to make it super difficult to intentionally derank.

The even sadder thing about this is that originally, SWF was ranked with the highest rank, then it was changed because that was deemed unfair for the lower ranked SWF members.

@Peanits i hope you guys got a planned fix for this too.

  • INB4 this gets inadvertently reverted

I mean, I love the devs - but we all know it's gonna happen.

  • I'm not really looking forward to this change. That would mean anytime a new friend starts playing, they're either going solo or being shoved right into purple ranks. I don't think they would want to play much more after getting curb-stomped a few games in a row.

  • Wait I need one more week to get them easy flashlight saves

  • I actually think this is bad.

Now you will get newbs in gray or yellow ranks fighting sharks in red or purple ranks. Gonna make an even worse impression of the game for people who only rarely play the game and SWF with their DBD addict friends.

Maybe they should play solo to get acclimated first. This system is way better, no longer will there be bully squads patrolling lower ranks.

  • Actually when they redid the match making a long time ago, it was set to the average. It was recently when they did the new match making to be inline with Dedicated Servers, they changed it back to taking the survivor who created the SWF lobby.

If anything it took them several months to fix that issue even when they announced it on one of the Dev Updates.

I made a post about it in July.

    So curious...

I've was given the impression... Way back when.. before these forums where even created, the Match Making took the average rank of the SWF group.

Cause in the beginning, when SWF was released, it took the rank of the player who created the SWF lobby, which resulted in rank 1s, grouping up with a rank 20 survivor. If the rank 20 survivor created the SWF lobby, the match making would match up to rank 20 killers.

So in order to stop this, the Match Making was changed to take the average rank of the players in the SWF lobby.

However now in the Developer update, it mentions that the New Match Making will take the average rank of the group.

So when was this changed? Cause I was to understand this was done well over 2 years ago. Now with the Patch Notes deleted on Steam, we can't verify it.

Why wouldn't the New Match Making system not already incorporate this rule since it already existed.

So what is currently going on right now?

    -- EDIT --

    FOUND IT:

    During Patch 1.2.2 - October 24th, 2016 - Posted by bhvr_sbdaniel

The 3rd Balance change in the "Balance" Section it states:

"Adjusted Matchmaking for Survive With Friends to be based on the average rank of the group (instead of the host’s rank)"

This was done over 2 years ago.

It was actually taking the average rank for quite a long time. Changing it to take the highest is a good change.

What might be useful aswell is to add a disclaimer in game when doing SWF that it will use X's rank when matching, so everyone in the lobby knows, when bringing in their new player friend they will be matched up with a higher ranked killer. To minimize the whining later on.

  • A step in the right direction for a better future indeed.

Though, we all wish it would've been sooner... But now its finally here, and things can only go up from here right?
