  • I think the moral of the story here is not to use hex perks. They can be powerful, but only if you get really lucky on the spawn and survivors aren't looking for them.

  • It's not difficult to memorize totem spawn points. The second you load in it becomes natural to check the spots nearest to you.

Im survivor main but I play both side recently.

At first when I played killer I tried to do my best and kill all of them.

Since the SBMM I just want to chill and play for fun. Im not a competitive guy. So I decided to do my best to 2 hook everyone then letting them escape by gates.

When I tried to kill them all they insulted me in endgame chat. Now I let them escape and play super fair and they still toxic in endgame chat, insulting me ect.

What am I supposed to do ?

Im confused. I dont understand this hate towards killer players.

Survivors ask killers to play fair, no camp, no tunnel, but even if you play like that its still toxicity in endgame chat.

I think most of survivors mains just want to insult killer player whatever happen during the game.

Next time I will try hardcamp games. Maybe they will stop insulting then 🤷‍♂️

Because killers *NEVER* behave in a toxic manner at all. They're just perfect little saints that just wanted a hug the whole game....

    Welcome to humanity. It sucks.

And now you shift the evidence as you want 😂. So i will quote what you have said.

"even the cream of the crop survivors die more times than they live"

Here you clearly state that individuals great survivors are dying more than surviving. So you use an argument around individual performances.

"Things that happen to individuals are not useful as evidence in and of themselves."

And here you say the individual performances are meaningless.

And i don't know about which data you talk about as BHVR has never released a single time usables datas. Average without standard deviation can't be used as you can't know if most trials end up with 2k or if they mostly end up with 4k or 0k (still the average is around 2k here).

And camping being the best strategy, if all high MMR killers are camping, they will get 2k+ most of the time but it doesn't mean it's balanced.

What i see at high MMR as a survivor is that killers can't win, even when i soloQ and face well known streamers, they get 0k even when they don't do any mistake.

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1190118665

@4h44min45, me soloQ against Truetalent, 0 mistake with his doctor, he played optimally and never failed one chase.

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1190365406

    @1h49min35

DuoQ with a friend of mine against a french high MMR killer main. Once again, he cannot do anything even though he did one mistake to secure the 1k.

And it's like this 90% of the time if no one DC or if there is no camp/tunnel.

If you have never experienced high level of play on any side, you cannot know how it is, balanced wise.

No... I was talking about the same numbers released by BHVR. Even rank one survivors still had less than 50% survival rate. It gets much worse the lower you get. I'm talking about stats posted by BHVR themselves.

  • Things that happen to individuals are not useful as evidence in and of themselves. Your personal general trends do not matter in the grand scheme of things. BHVR has posted stats. Actual, tangible, real data collected from thousands of hours and thousands of players. And it said you are wrong. No amount of "but my experience" can dispute cold hard numbers. Deal with it.

Listen if u cant do anything with ur servers.LET RETURN WHEN KILLER WAS HOST!!!!!I ITS NOT FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!! ITS SAD ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Killer's community require normal honest HORROR game! If u cant do this,we will tell to u GOODBYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. Let's go back to where killers playing on McDonald's wifi just win every game. That was always fun.

I can't tell you the number of times I'm halfway through the killer's shack and get hit through the window I vault d several seconds ago. Or on haddonfield, being almost to the ground after vaulting a second story window just to go down mid fall from a hit through the window upstairs.

Point is, the hit validation is crap from both perspectives, but you only care about the one that affects you personally. I agree that hitting someone and hearing the scream and blood from the hit but seeing them then lunge away fine is bullcrap, but you're being overly dramatic and completely self centered.

As the title says, when the devs choose to balance this game for casuals with barely 100 hours in the game it just allows Survivor mains to be even more toxic towards Killers because lets face it their objective is way easier than Killers and Killers just get shafted near enough every patch.

You get these Survivor mains who genuinely think they are gods gift to the game but stick them on any other multiplayer you will find they are wither insanely low rank or they just get destroyed and rage every game. DbD is the only game they got going for them where they get a victory 85% of the time.

Logging into DbD I had a Trickster daily, to my luck on RNG I get put on Haddonfield, already off to a bad start. I end up downing these guys very quickly but it didn't matter because gens fly and the map is horrifically balanced even when I was playing well. On 7 hooks surprise surprise all the gens get done and I manage to secure 8, rather good for Trickster on Haddonfield.

As you'd expect, end game chat these guys had the biggest inflated egos imaginable saying how I'm the trash one, I should get good, I should learn to play etc. So I said, lets have a rematch to which point I'd play a killer who could definitely compete against these guys, I could already down them quickly with a trash killer so a viable one who can gen pressure should realistically be rather simple to go against with. Do you think these guys accepted? Of course they didn't instead they went off with their egos even more which also means they are unsportsmanlike. In a fighter you don't just say you are better than someone because you beat them once, you have rematches. All bark no bite with these guys and they will just keep doing it over and over again playing their little bully simulator.

I really do not understand why the devs choose to balance their game for people like this just to allow them to create even more bigger egos. I guarantee you if this game was even remotely balanced in a way where all Killers have a chance to compete without gen defence a lot of these Survivor mains who think they are gods gift would probably get bricked on most matches because they have no real skill in the game, they just get carried by bad game design.

The game is, was, and always will be casual. There is no attempt at actual balance and they just slap perks on as band-aids for poor design decisions.

@Feyd The game is so balanced right ?

Even when survivors have perks/items/character restrictions, killers can get 3 hooks only but everything is normal in your close minded world.

Here is my wisdom, just look at the video and learn. And don't come telling those killers are not good as they all are 10 times better than you will ever be.

Should I just go post a video of a killer crushing people now and provide the same useless, anecdotal evidence to you? Cause the numbers they've posted in the past essentially prove you either are willfully ignorant or intentionally trying to mislead people.

  • @JohnWeak said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2604174#Comment_2604174

Nope they have to camp and tunnel. Getting stomped doesn't mean to get a 4k or 4 escapes. Getting stomp means 4 kills with 3 gens left or 4 escapes with 3 hooks only. That's what getting stomped means.

Where did i say i wanted to win without sweating ? You are clearly a baby at the game and i guess you don't even have 500 hours into it. You can't even understand what you read as you do petty accusation on my comments motive.

At high MMR most trials will end up with 3 to 6 hooks if you don't camp nor tunnel.

Before talking you should just go high skill and then, when you will have experienced what is the real state of the game you will be able to tell us how the game is.

ATM, thinking that the game balance is okay means clearly that you are just a noob, on both sides.

Ah, the personal attacks. How quaint. I never said balance was okay, just that it shouldn't be where you want it to be. The game is casual trash anyway, so trying to make things competitive is just a loosing endeavor from the onset.

I've played for three years and have more than 1600 hours in the game. Both rank one achievements for each side from years ago. I also own a cat, since we're discussing things irrelevant to the topic at hand.

Back on topic, you want easy kills, play bubba and face camp. Bam. Easy hooks, easy kills. You don't even need to try. Until crap like that is addressed and not considered perfectly legitimate, you will not see anything less than having to camp and tunnel people out of the game. It's how the game is designed from the onset.

Also, even the cream of the crop survivors die more times than they live statistically per BHVR's own data. Your anecdotal evidence is just that, and less useful than what you drop in the toilet.

  • @Nathan13 said:

we need the old rank system back.

I feel people like to make a public announcement of them quiting a game to get the developpers' attention.

I like the ones about new games. "I quit to play X game which will be 1000 % better than DBD!"

If it makes them feeling better... That being said, I should create a thread to announce that I'm still playing. Maybe people will find the fact super interesting.

Wow really?! Holy crap, I'm impressed. I do indeed find that exciting!

  • @JohnWeak said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2604142#Comment_2604142

Exaggerated for the below average players, playing at a low to average MMR.

Go play at high MMR and you will come back here crying.

Do you know that players like Truetalent, Otz, Dowsey etc can't win a single trial without camping and tunneling ?

Those guys are all top 5% killers and they cannot win against good enough survivors.

And no, in a balanced environment with a working SBMM, you should never get stomped or stomp anyone, that's the point of it.

    And i'm not a killer main, i'm a 50/50.

You mean they have to try now instead of steamroll newbs all day? The horror!

So your stance then is what? You should never 4k ever? No team should ever completely escape? That's what being stomped means.

The game is asymmetrical, meaning balance is very tricky. Most games will go one way or the other. Everyone out or everyone dead. Finding somewhere in between means you got a couple kills near the end, typically. Once one person is dead, the game goes downhill fast for the survivors unless they're already fairly close to escaping.

So please, share with us how you see the game should go. Cause if you want to win without having to sweat, you aren't playing against equally skilled opponents and you're back to newb stomping.

  • @Frontdoor6 said:

What do you guys think of the window loop in the killer shack? Its been around for ages and survivors are very dependent on it when it comes to looping

The Dead Dog shack has a breakable wall, why doesn't the other? I can't bring Bamboozle for every killer just to deal with this one window

Do you guys think something should be done? Like add a breakable wall to the shacks or something?

It's a strong loop, but there are plenty of mind games you can play on it for a free hit. Honestly, it feels like one of the better designed loops in the game. Even if you brainlessly want to chase them with W, you will still get the window blocked in less than thirty seconds and eat the pallet.

  • Oh. Killer opinion. Nevermind.

Was just going to say that I hate how his terror radius is so quiet that you basically don't know he's there until he hits you. Or how he has a built in stall mechanic that just gives him the survivor's location when they do deal with it. In short, screw that nerd.

  • @The_Krapper said:

The sad thing is that they have like double BP events all the time like every other weekend it seems like and we rarely get one and they didn't even pay for the game.

That being said I'm happy with the current event and the points they're giving out, the cosmetics in with the challenges etc... they really have done a pretty good job so far lol the amount of things they touched on in the last patch was nice, we can't complain too much at the moment.

There's a very obvious, logical explanation. DBD is rather popular. Typically in the top ten or twenty for activity on Steam. They don't need to bribe people to log in so matches can happen and they can get you buying cosmetics. We're already playing. They need more mobile players, so they incentivize people to play it.

  • From the killer perspective, no it's not fine. It's not fine to hear the hit, hear the scream, see the blood, and watch them lunge away from you and keep moving. That is not fine at all.

From a survivor perspective... You have either this or Headon. The other day exhaustion perks are trash. You either can't really choose when to use them or you have to go out of your way to avoid wasting them all the time. If you want to remove exhaustion perks, that's fine, but it should be compensated for with rolling back some of the looping nerfs from over the years. Fix some walls at good windows back to being solid or get rid of that medium vault crap. But I'm all for removing exhaustion perks.

  • It's a dead one, but it was a nice thought once upon a time.

  • @JohnWeak said:

Ye well to resume the state of the game, let's say it's Camp by Daylight.

    • You play survivor ? The first survivor hooked will be camped and tunneled in almost every trial.
    • You play killer ? You are forced to camp and tunnel the first survivor hooked or else you will need to do a perfect game to get 1k, maybe 2k and sometimes you won't even get one kill...

The experience became garbage since the SBMM release. I had hope for this system, especially to mix players of the same level but BHVR didn't bring the balance changes needed to improve the experience in a competitive environment.

    • Unbalanced maps should have been disabled and reworked : standard size for every maps, balanced layout, all killers' power usable on any map
    • Number of pallets/windows should have been adjusted : 30% less pallets, 50% less windows
    • Gen speed should have been adjusted as well, like increasing the time needed to finish them solo to 100 seconds

Well, the game is in the worst state it has been for years now. Some needed changes have been made prior to the SBMM release, but this SBMM negated every balance changes. Survivors are way, way too OP.

There's so much exaggeration here it's comical. When I play my most commonly played killers(doc/Legion), I don't really have these kinds of problems. Sure, occasionally you get stomped. You're SUPPOSED TO. You can't win every game.

There have already been a slew of nerfs to looping. Windows blocking, windows getting holes in the wall next to them, less pallets, pallets not dropping until you're past them, so on and so on.

This is the kind of poster that gives all you killer mains a bad reputation. He won't be happy until there are no windows, pallets, or survivor perks and we all just go down in under 30 seconds. He's spiteful because he doesn't know how to play well and wants to punish us puny survivors for daring to earn the name.

He's the only killer who can tea bag back to you toxic survivors.. why should he suffer while he's just getting revenge for everyone else out there! 😋

Just saying... Fair is fair. If you need one, you nerf both. It's why I say if you fix camping, you have to fix gen speeds with it. I actually try to be somewhat fair. :P I want a balanced game, but I lost hope of that years ago.

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

The Entity frowns down at teabaggery.

The issue with this mentality that it’s all about bragging, and t-bagging is toxic. I have never seen people T-bagging in the open field against a T3 Myers or Bubba.

    Why?

I.. have done that. But I'm intentionally trying to get him off of someone that's on death hook.

Oh, yeah, I have no beef with those survivors. I get it, and pushing them out feels interactive. I am talking about when I open a gate myself after letting them finish gens, and they see the others already left at the other exit gate. Believe it or not, they exist and it is not an uncommon occurrence. Some of them even teabag, although THAT is rare.

I did say I can't speak for everyone. But I see it no different than the killer's that take the last survivor to the hatch just to close it in their face.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2603955#Comment_2603955

I only do that on maps like Dead Dawg or Midwich where I can play Wreck it Ralph. Otherwise I want out of the game and just push them out. Save myself a few minutes.

Survivors are so rude that even when you 2 hook everyone, no camping or tunneling, and let them all escape purposely they will STILL force you to walk across the map just to watch them leave at the other exit gate they went to without giving a free hit. If they are THAT dedicated to staying, it is really best to just let them have it and move on, in my opinion.

I can't speak for everyone, but for many of us, it's not about being rude unless it was earned. Many of us wait to make sure everyone is safe before leaving. We don't want to leave until we know all three others are making it out. We can't go back and help if they're downed then

If all four are at the gate, we will try for some more heal points, but we leave once we're set, regardless of what you do.

So for me it goes like this

    Win:

    4k with Merciless Killer

    4k with Ruthless Killer

    4k with Brutal Killer

    3k with Merciless Killer

    3k with Ruthless Killer

    3k with Brutal Killer

    3k with Entity Displeased

    Going even with survivor:

2k with Brutal Killer (or Ruthless if this is even a thing)

    Lost

    2k with Entity Displeased

    1k with Brutal Killer

    1k with Entity Displeased

4 escapes (0k) with Brutal Killer

    4 escapes with Entity Displeased

If this game were to have tournaments th above is a good formula to use to distribute points in a system. What do you think? Do you agree with these conditions?

Killer side? A win is challenge progress. Playing that side without a challenge is already a loss to me, regardless of the outcome.

Survivor: escape is a win. Sacrifice to get someone else out is a win. Stunning and blinding the killer to the point that I'm being camped is also a win.

True, I just feel the time could have been better spent working on the December chapter considering quite a few of the latest releases have been broken to some degree. Not to mention they could have just released pinhead as a paragraph DLC like Ghostface or bubba.

I bought Mikaela. I did not buy Pinhead. I probably won't buy anything that's purely killer sided again. I just don't enjoy kicking puppies, and that's what most games feel like as killer for me.

I'd do that but if I'm gonna play killer(which has honestly gotten more and more loathsome to a certain degree) I wanna get as many points as I can with BBQ, especially considering we are getting another chapter in december which blows my mind as we legit just got hour of the witch.

Well, Hour of the Witch was just the survivor filling in since Pinhead was the normal main chapter patch and didn't have a survivor.

    Right?! Though it was funny to have a challenge where you have to break totems. I actually had a 3-man SWF get upset with me that I was breaking totems. The life of a solo qeue ;~;

My friends and I always break totems. If we have a random and they get upset by that, too bad. Would rather have no noed than them wasting their time buffing totems instead of doing gens.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2604000#Comment_2604000

Thats what I ended up doing, only reason I was greedy was I wanted to get a challenge done involving killing survivors. I really hate those challenges as they honestly arent that fun. I was able to get them all down luckily and finished my challenge. I'm perfectly fine with a 2k or even less in a normal scenario but when it involves challenges that require things like hooking or killing. I want to get them done quickly as I dont get to play the game much due to work and other things.

As I hate playing killer ever, I just played like a typical bubba and basement camped my way to 2ks for four games. Super easy. Just watch TV and wait for them to die.

  • @Spirez said:

If you're playing Victor and you pounce to an injured survivor and they get "hit" victor stops as soon as the hit lands. However, the hit gets refunded because the survivor used Dead Hard. The survivor is now 2 ft from Victor and can easily kick him. If victor missed he would have been at least far away from the survivor to be kicked.

I will say, I was mighty surprised to see and hear hits land, but watch the survivor lunge away. Survivor side, we just see a miss.

Not sure the fix here, as the perk as been a disaster since the beginning.

That said, it's easy to crush victor when he misses.

I was trying to complete a challenge to kill survivors, sorry if I wanna get it done as soon as possible lol

You aren't entitled to a 4k every game. Sorry they got you into a position where one of them is likely to escape, but they're people and get to win sometimes too.

Even if in this scenario, it's only one of them making it out

  • Let's be honest. No it didn't. People go out of their way to camp and be toxic in this game. I know someone that loves to just flashlight at every pallet, for example. He's a douche.

But I've been playing for over three years now. People have been camping forever. It only gets worse when there are events, as the sadists want to use the opportunity to run everyone else's fun.

  • You aren't intended to win every game. The goal of the system, if it matches you properly, is to make you win roughly half of the time. You go up against even people, maybe you lose. Then you go down, face people worse and win, going back up.

The "problem" is that you can't just win every game all the time steamrolling everyone anymore. But hey, if having to lose as often as you win isn't fun, I'm sure you could play the little bit mode and just curb stomp the AI's. But I guess that doesn't give the same rush as burning ants with a magnifying glass does, huh?

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Ideally you commit, down them, snuff the totem if it is nearby (on indoor maps, might not be worth looking for) and keep them slugged while you go for the last. You risk unbreakable, but it is better than a war of attrition that you would likely lose regardless.

Except in his scenario, he can't "lose" regardless. He already has half of them dead. One or two might escape, but he's already snuffed out two people. You can't call that a straight loss.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2603972#Comment_2603972

I like the idea, I really do, but he would be a face camping menace if he could hold main event. I guess it would be fine if Bubba is fine, but I assume that is their concern.

At this point, I just assume they want face camping to be a thing. Could just make it so you cannot activate it anywhere near a hooked survivor too. Still, having it pop on the last thrown knife that downs someone with no one else around completely wastes it.

His main power isn't that powerful, I say let him hold it. People already camp with him anyway.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

And he will stay that way as long as survivor mains consider him to be OP.

Yes, he is definitely a lost cause. This was his tome, and they ain't help a homie out unless you consider nerfing Slinger to help him find his niche a bit better. Rofl.

He's a ranged machine gun. Doesn't do much damage per shot(like huntress) but doesn't need to be anywhere near as accurate. I personally enjoy spamming knives with him.

Only change I'd make is to make showstopper completely under you control on when to use. Stupid that it can come up when it's useless and just be wasted.

  • @KeiOrtem said:

Just had a match where there were only 2 survivors left with 2 gens super close and one sort of far off but still within reasonable distance. Anytime I would hit a survivor they would instantly go back to their boon and heal. I would have commited but with the other survivor going to work on a gen and I dont have ruin up anymore.

Like a normal 3 gen with 2+ survivors in certain situations can be rough sometimes but with the increase healing speed with boon totems. It's honestly very rough, especially with survivors who know what they are doing.

Okay. So you've already killed two players. And you're mad that in order to kill a third, the fourth might be able to get away because they happen to have set things up in a way that leaves them able to constantly keep pressure on you.

You already have two dead... Just take the 3k and stop whining. You already won.

  • I have to agree with the overall sentiment. Just don't go to the gates, or run insidious to bait them into coming out with a one shot ability.

Did that more than once on Bubba. They peek out and get instadowned for their hubris.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

I mean, playing a tunnel and camp style was always more effective. Boons change nothing in that regard.

This. Since when was doing anything short of trapping the hooks with make your choice and teleporting back the second it triggers the plan? She's always been about the proxy camp.

  • @Witchubtet said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2603931#Comment_2603931

It’s more the fact that Survivors didn’t need the boons, plus yes it takes 2 seconds to disable the boom but the person running it can just go get another one with 16 seconds. Most killer perks have a cooldown or can be disabled (outside a select few)

And every time we waste another 16 second making a totem is another 16 seconds we aren't on a gen doing something actually productive.

Seriously, these boons are trash. It's like applying old ruin to yourself, running around looking and playing with totems instead of getting the gens done.

  • @Witchubtet said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2603938#Comment_2603938

If you read my post it clearly says I don’t care for 4Ks. I just think Killers aren’t being given the love they need.

You say that, but considering that the average game still ends up with 2+ dead, I'd say overall killers still have it too easy. Gens definitely can be done too quickly, but until you can't just camp someone out of the game within three minutes, I don't see a way to fix it.

It exists like that because otherwise you could just camp everyone out of the game every game and guarantee the 4k. Pause the hook timer if the killer is within 32m and we can talk about what to do about gen speeds to slow the game down as a whole.

you can’t even play a normal match of solo que without the killer camping at 4 gens and smacking people on hook, don’t forget the extreme tunneling. It’s crazy how the killer is the toxic side, not the other way around. Killers deserve the bags.

Just run Headon, quick and quiet, blast mine, and flashbang. Better if you can coordinate with others to get more stuns. At least when you get camped, you feel like you earned it. Ya know?

Trappers peeks need a buff. Since he is supposed to be your introduction to the game you’d think all his perks would be B tier at best.

Yup. Survivors haven't been nerfed at all in all these years. They haven't made numerous changes that drastically affect looping or just add more killers that have abilities to just shoot right over a pallet or through walls. Nope. Kill rates weren't in the ballpark of "most people die horribly every game." Nope. Not at all.

Different year, same garbage. "I can't 4k every game with every killer while afk. Plez nrf survs."

  • The boon totems take a long time to apply and can be snuffed in an instant. They do more harm than good. The amount of time it takes you to get up and maintain a totem, you could have a gen done.

They aren't worth running. In fact, I can't think of a single top tier perk to come out for survivors in years. Unless you count Mettle of Man, which was nerfed right after they collected their money for it.

All the best perks come from the first few rows of survivors. Now, if you have given up on enjoying the game itself and just want to be a jerk, Headon, Quick and quiet, blast mine, and flashbang makes for a fun build. But that's far from helping you actually win.

BHVR need to do something about gen rushing. It's no fun playing a 5 minute game because survivors focus on nothing but their objective...

    See, it works both ways.

    Run noed like everyone else.

  • There's an event. Whenever events come around, killer D-bag behavior dials up to eleven. Best way to have fun in DBD is to uninstall it.

  • This event, like all events, is just an excuse for this horrible community to dial the toxic behaviors to eleven. The overwhelming majority of players go out of their way to make sure people get as little reward and enjoyment as possible.

But hey, let's censor more mean words instead of treating the cause of them.

Lol the bad survivor mains are whining because there 2nd chance perks are op and needs nerfs boo hoo

Post whiny rant about a perk you don't like and refuse to learn to play around. Listen to well thought out, rational, calm, and accurate retorts. Call them whiners.

Wut? No seriously, wut? Killers on this forum are beyond pathetic. If the survivors don't just jump on hooks ten seconds into the game, it's unfair trash and needs to be fixed.

  • When I play killer, I run into one, maaaaybe two of those squads in a session. The face campers are at least every third or fourth game.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

The people acting like this would be OP just prove how overly reliant Survivors are on Exhaustion Perks.

While we're nerfing 'over reliance' on perks, let's also nerf all the gen slowing perks. Those darn killers use them too much. Such crutches.

Can we stop being absurd now?

  • Faaaaaar more face camping killers than there are elite 4-man SWF bully squads.
