"I'm going to try my hardest to ruin any fun for the opposing team." Is how 85% of high rank survivors play

Sounds like SWF on live servers
Exactly; everyone saying "lol your just bad at killer" and loving the ruin nerf likes the severe problems with gen speed as they are. It's like seeing a wildfire outside the window and pretending it goes away if you just close the blinds
-
They ARE done too fast, I'm so sick of having to hear survivor players who only want easy games where they don't have to try make the same bad arguments all day everyday. May as well be flatearthers or antivaxxers, the style and lies are on par

Spirit was not gutted at all. Did you really only rely on beads or collision with her? Shes still broken and easy to 4k with without ruin or pop. I hope she gets nerfed so I dont feel ashamed of using her. Oni got his flick back and the ptb killers playing him liked him. Freddy gets more kills than even spirit now. So again. Wrong. Legion was totally broken and poorly designed. They had to gut him. Why would you allow a poor mechanic to continue to be used? Bias? I'm sure theyll rework him like they did freddy.
If you think BL is the only nerf survivors have gotten this year you clearly arent paying any attention at all. If you think spirits nerf was impactful at all you werent good with her to begin with. If you think leaving nurse to be god like tier forever was okay, you're clearly bias.
I stopped reading at the spirit because you're so laughably wrong. She's easy to lose in chases, play the game and try instead of clipping scott jund talking points
-
Lol you think they've thought this through in any way?
-
What we should really do is load in with nurse and go afk all day, see how their "data" likes that
-
They'll just nerf those too then
-
This whole thing is so horrible, it's like they want to blackpill everyone who plays killer

Hi!
Just wanted to address one common concern I've seen from the community. "They nerfed Ruin so it wouldn't be hard for new Survivors."
That's not quite what the intention was. This is subtle, but bear with me.
New Ruin is in fact really brutal for new Survivors... because it is insidious. They have no idea what's happening, and they struggle to get gens done at all. That little zap effect when you take your hands off a gen? Barely noticable to a new player who's panicing because of the L3 Terror Radius they are hearing. It's not even noticable that the gen is regressing twice as fast as if the Killer had damaged it.
What we wanted to do was not "make it easy for new players" but "make it less frustrating for new players". In playtests with newer Survivor players, it was 4k with 4 or 5 gens up almost every time. But they didn't hate their time in the game as much because those red skill checks weren't in their faces.
I'm looking forward to playing on the PTB with some of you tomorrow; see you in the Fog!
"They nerfed Ruin so it wouldn't be hard for new Survivors" PERIOD. I'm not interested in the rest of these weak apologetics and lies to rationalize a decision that's so insanely bad

Survivor main here. This is a terrible change for a number of reasons. First, it does nothing to address the issue of random hex placement. As before, this perks is a lottery, only this time even without a good payoff - you will either get a hex totem placed in a good hidden location for a slight-to-moderate lategame benefit, or it will get cleansed two minutes in for a dud perk slot. Second, if I understand the mechanics intended, it breaks all regress-on-kick perks, making them useless, effectively being an anti-slowdown perk. Third, it actually does nothing to slow down gen times, actively encouraging survivors to gang up on gens and worsening killer's chase-to-gen ratio.
There are many much better alternative available to make ruin fun again. Just a few examples:
- Rework of general hex mechanic, making killer manually activate his hexes on a dull totem of his choosing. This will simulataneously limit all hex effectiveness in early game, making it more engaging for survs and less likely to dc out of frustration, and give killer more strategic freedom to choose good spots for his hexes for long-time effectiveness, while also punishing reckless killers who place hexes while at risk of being observed by survivors - the way this works with trapper and his beartraps.
- Rework of general hex meachanic, allowing hexes to respawn on random standing dull totems 60 seconds after they were cleansed, and optionally allowing cleansed dull totems to reform after 180 seconds. Combine with a very slight nerf to some more powerful hexes to balance it out.
And my favourite:
- While Hex: Ruin totem is standing all toolbox use on gens is blocked. Additionally, and even after Hex: Ruin has been cleansed, all generators passively regress at all time at 0.5 charges per any standing totem, with that doubling on kick.
"- Rework of general hex meachanic, allowing hexes to respawn on random standing dull totems 60 seconds after they were cleansed, and optionally allowing cleansed dull totems to reform after 180 seconds. Combine with a very slight nerf to some more powerful hexes to balance it out."
I would LOVE this base change and suggested something like it myself before

You mean that data graph that says all killers have over %50 kill rate (I think nurse is under that now) and the devs constantly say is very flawed, not accurate and people shouldn't draw conclusions from.
But the devs then in another post on here used that same data drawing a conclusion from that flawed data trying to justify Legion recent changes were a buff cause they got a tiny bit over %1 increase in their kill rate. Like I dont understand the devs logic and thinking nowadays
Btw not trying to be rude to you, just saying all this
You're missing the best part where everyone takes the data as irrefutable gospel truth despite all that being said about it's unreliability and uses it as a catchall excuse in every argument

You misunderstand me. I am with you on this, or rather starting to. I mean they nerfed some OP survivor stuff too, but not as much as they have been nerfing killers, even Doctor looks like he might be an overall nerf.
Like what is going on here, it's VERY clear what the issues were with ruin, you literally ignored the ONLY killer side issue with it, one that would not affect it's balancing either since you can address the numbers easier once the main problem is fixed...... Like if that doesn't show bias I don't know what does.
They keep making brutal nerfs to killers and a lot of people's "see how it plays out" attitude is grinding on me, the last what 5 times it's played out to be much worse than anyone expected and they just ignore any feedback that shows they made a mistake
-
@Peanits said:
I would definitely say give it a try first. Having played around with it, it can be pretty nasty once you get some pressure. Combine it with Surveillance and you also get some outrageous tracking (since generators automatically regress). You'll always know which generators are being worked on.
We frankly have zero reason to trust you guys on the balance, I've been playing survivor for a bit over 15 hours and I'd bet money I'm better at survivor. I'm the kind of player who has a ton of trouble with skillchecks and I don't even mind ruin. I can either work through it or bust the totem, after 1.1k hours of killer I mosy know where it can be. It's disturbing how dismissive you've all been of killer concerns, what happened?

It won't do any good since it still still be destroyed by RNG in the first 30 seconds of more than half your games.
Seriously, did you not listen to any of the killer side issues with this? You sure listened to the survivor side ones, I've always said you guys are not bias but you are making it REALLY hard to keep saying that.
They are extremely survivor biased, where have you been?
-
Holy god the changes are so much worse than I ever thought possible, I've sure the toxic survivor players are thrilled but how does anyone playing killer has confidence they care about us?
-
Definitely not, the grind requires like 3 hours a day every single day
-
We should all start playing "Survivor-Approved Nurse", i.e AFK all match
-
There should be more fallout from that awful December dev stream where they ignored every meaningful question, they pay such close attention to survivor complaints if we don't let it go they might start listening to killers. They've shown us complaining works in them
-
They've been screwing over killers as hard as possible lately, the freddy rework was perfect and made everyone happy, then they decided to go full throttle in the opposite direction, it's baffling

I don't hate him at all its a video game. I just do not like the negative influence he has on a large number of people by adopting the "I played perfectly so therefore its the games fault" mentality.
Honestly it often comes off like you do even if that's not your intent, that's why I'm so uncharitable about it (or at least have a harder time being less skeptical/cynical). There are a lot of scenarios where you're just helpless or lose immediately and just acknowledging "yeah this is kinda iffily balanced" is all I really want. He's the only one who really adresses it much. You're great at this seemingly no matter what and I think that colors your opinions. To use an anecdotes to explain that, it's like a tech billionaire not noticing the economy is bad because they feel so little of those negative effects (ok crummy pick but the better ones were more partisanly political)

I literally binged the second season in one night and did the same with the third when it came out.
Shame we gotta wait like two years till the fourth (if we even get one)
Damn, didn't know the gap was so long. Well the writing quality has been pretty high, it feels like something that takes awhile to produce. I think season 2 was my overall favorite by just a bit and it just keeps getting better, so matching or topping s2 and s3 has to be tough, like what the Archer or Rick and Morty team goes through
-
I'm at 43 with all the survivor challenges left, should get me halfway there. The premium rift was such a jyp and the progression is way too slow, it takes like 3-4 hours per tier. If the premium gave an Xp boost or something it'd be better; they should look at MTG: Arena's mastery pass for how to do it right

A lot of reasons go into it. some of the main issues imo
- Bad matchmaking system in general (duh)
- Its easy to get Red/Purple rank, thus increasing the amount of people queue'd for a game
- Not as many killers at the higher ranks- it isn't exactly fun to VS. a 4 man SWF sweat squad every match
- MM system for SWF pulling Greens and Yellows into Red rank queues, thus increasing the time even more, again lack of killers compounds this issue
- New rank reset system makes the amount of people in the higher ranks even greater, and this will exponentially increase over time as you are now dropped only to the next lower color (Reds - rank 5, Purples to rank 9, etc)
One of the things that keeps it from being fixed is how some big streamers refuse to acknowledge the "4 man SWF sweat squad" is a problem or even exists, thus tricking their audiences into thinking the same. They'll scream "BuT iTS RaRE!!!" Yet mostly play survivor in 4 man swf themselves. Meanwhile in red ranks you can play a full day and only face 4 man SWF sweat squads for several hours nonstop, but if you point that out it's not valid somehow. They remind me of climate denier debates (and about as well thought out)

I've been worried too. I used to play the game every day, I loved it! Now I cant swallow more than a couple matches on either side before I cant take it anymore. But matchmaking isnt the problem, it's the community. We're all guilty. We've all been toxic even if we didnt realize it.. and its hurting the game. I get tired of the countless survivor messages "TRASH TUNNELING KILLER" "EZ KILLER UNINSTALL" I even got one that told me "You need to have more respect for survivors, you go too hard and none of us could escape! You're toxic and trash."
I dont typically get messages from killers but I'm sure people do. The issue isnt entirely the game being all glitchy, or the unbalance, or that the devs break the game every DLC.. it's mostly the attitude that comes with the players. This community is full of so many good, fun people... but equally, if not more, toxic people who wanna bully and cry and whine about the game being "total #########" when it isnt. It's a great game! It's just that.. we're so mean to one another and for what? Because one runs and one chases? We all came here because we love it. We love the thrill, the spooky jump scares, the funny moments, the ridiculousness, *the sweaty running balls to the wall to get away from anyone trying to murder our faces off*.. so.. the question is not "is the game dieing because of matchmaking", because it's not. The question is "Can this community keep it together to hold a legitimate playerbase who enjoys the game and supports on another on all sides?" Because THAT will kill the game. Luckily, I feel like this has been addressed multiple times by big name streamers.. and the die hards in the community are also trying to stop this toxic mentality. I'm guilty, you're guilty, we're all guilty.
I'm sorry this turned into a novel.. uh.. I geuss I needed to say that.
And they sponsor streamers like boxghost and jendaze who encourage the toxicity, that alone made me quit for a bit
-
The game really does feel like it's on the decli, killers are eating so many nerfs lately and bugs that hurt killer more than survivor are flatout ignored. Some of their sponsored streamers are total creeps who just making trolling videos and encourage toxicity from survivors. I get nothing but "we don't care about killer fun" impressions from the last few dev communications. It wrecks the whole horror vibe
-
OhTofus video seems to disregard that it wouldn't be so bad if everyone didn't depend on the huge buff SWF gives them, play less SWF doesn't occur to him. I think they just want the old matchmaking system because it was a lot easier to bully killers that way.
-
I want Pinhead in with a power that interacts with hooks themselves and maybe healing skillchecks, since pain and hooks is his thing
-

Also sack guy from THE STRANGERS
Strangers is another good pick. We could get by with legion cosmetics for them though, I love Legion because they fit into so many slasher roles. The killers from the different seasons of the Slasher series on Netflix would be cool and Joey's his-vis horror outfit is basically The Druid from Slasher season 3

Yeah... I guess clowns hacksawing people in half and flaying people alive are a little more on the extreme side. Even Leatherface and Michael Myers killed their victims RELATIVELY quick.
I love the reactions to Terrifier's big scene, it's kinda campy enough to not be too far but totally levels the unprepared. And when he takes that selfie after :0

Yeah they probably don't want to add a kid survivor getting killed either so I'm thinking just the older lady from one of the images I posted seeing as we don't have an older lady survivor yet.
Grandma would be an interesting pick, they could also use the neighbor's from the house they investigated and found the gingerbread men in. They did disappear..

Definitely!
They could even do their own interpretation of Krampus if they want to avoid licensing. I think Dougherty's is amazing though and would fit the best.
I could imagine the TR music being the soft ringing of the little bell from the movie..so good!
The bell idea is sick!! Love It! As for design I don't they could top or match his, but I think they'd have an easier time getting it. If only Sam was a bit taller...

Nurse is dead. I wouldnt be suprised if in mid 2020 the last nurse main dropped her and the average pick rage drops much more
I wonder what it is now, especially with a much worse barrier to learning for new people.
-
No you did good, their fault for getting downed like that
-
Dear lord I wasted time reading this terrible idea and thinking about how insanely survivor sided and wildly unfair to killer it was before I noticed who it came from
-
And you're right, the rift is definitely designed to force you to spend on tiers. It takes 2 games to get one shard, say 10-15 minutes per match start to finish and you're at maybe 2 shards per hour, and you need ten for a tier. "Just one hour a day" is a boldfaced lie
-
I need to grind 30 more tiers but thankfully have all the survivor challenges left. However doing the math it only gets us halfway if I finish them all. I just pick nurse and go afk (that's what survivors ultimately want facing killers to be like anyway) and it's been good enough to grind out a few levels while i read a book or whatever. You get 300xp per match and it jumps to like 400 if they run in front of you for a little bit. I haven't gotten a single complaint or report for hours

I still think Krampus would fit DBD perfectly.
Seeing as we don't have an older lady survivor yet, she would work perfectly as well.
Dougherty's Krampus would be amazing, and he's very hands on with art design so he'd probably love to contribute

I'd love to see Art the Clown from All Hallows Eve/The Terrifier. He's made jack-o-lanterns out of the heads of some of his victims, and in the second movie, he hangs a woman upside down and saws her in half from her vagina to her head, so he has some serious potential for moris.
It'd also be neat to see Malachi from Children of the Corn in the game, but I don't imagine He Who Walks Behind the Rows would take too kindly to him submitting to the Entity.
I know Art's actor, he'd have lots of great ideas. Terrifier is probably a bit too hardcore for the average DbD player though, plus they're busy shooting Terrifier 2 atm

It's not that. If ranking up were easier for survivors then you would have 75% potatoes in red ranks instead of the fuckfest of super coordinated swf teams that it is.
Devs are just refusing to acknowledge that all the balance issues they've created are starting to pile up and there are barely any killers willing to play red ranks these days.
I'm rank 6 as killer and I only face red rank survs, and as a rank 2 surv I never vs red rank killers.
Exactly this, I can't stand all the people why cry "see killer is great!" when they run into red rank potatoes all day and rack kills (like scott jund) then ignore all the problems the game has against real red ranks (like what happens to Tru3talent) where you'll play the most insanely strong sweaty teams the game has to offer for 6 straight hours
-
Heck they basically changed nurse to this, her secondary power may as well be "repair generator"
