  • I look at it as if I'm playing a 1 dollar scratch off ticket. Im scratching it having fun. If I don't win I look at it and go meh oh well. I toss it in the trash and move on

If I win 2 bucks, I'm like cool. I won 2 dollars. Nice. And move on. This game is too random. There is no way your going to win everytime. No matter the side you play.

Just do what you can. If the survivors are BMing you or the killer Is hitting you on hook etc just try to not let it get to you.

It's hard, but with time and effort it can work. Good luck my friend.

Again, regardless of whether they utilize their advantage properly, they still have one. Most SWFs aren't an issue but they still have access to something the game was not designed for, voice comms. BP is something that has no impact on gameplay nor balance and would be simply a bonus for going up against such an advantage (Therefore making it a good compensation metric, rather than something gameplay/balance related) Their suggestion also said to give a bonus to solos paired with a SWF a bonus as well, which I also agree with.

I agree with this take. I as a killer main don't mind going against swf. However I like to check profiles when I can. I want to know if I will be at a disadvantage as they have access to comms.

I won't dodge, but it helps me to plan for the match. The survivors get an advantage with comms. Why should I be required to play against something that is unfair? If I want to run pallet Freddy or a Hex build I know that if it's a swf on comms they will call it out. Lit totem at shack, fake pallets drop early etc. That is an advantage.

I know swf is mostly just friends chilling and playing the game. The point for me is outside comms is an advantage. The killer gets nothing in compensation for it. I think that offering BP to solos and duos as well as Killer's facing swf would give players a reason to not dodge and play the match.

    Just my opinion tho.

  • Please play this map more. I play alot of Dr. And Nemesis etc. Narrow corridors and the compact size make it so much better.

Impossible skill check doc on this map is great. ๐Ÿ‘

    Yeah play more Gideon. :)

  • In my opinion, I feel that BHVR making a clear win condition kills and escapes is also a detriment.

It elevates the need for both sides to win at all costs. For killers I feel it would be more of a win to go for hooks. For survivors perhaps teamwork or helping out in chases, gens etc..

I am not sure rhe best way to make it balanced and fair in the current state of the game. Just I think having the over all win condition being kills and escapes is a detriment to the game.

I feel like BHVR should incentive chases and hooks more to combat tunneling.

  • I think both sides want easy games as well. If the match is not going in their favor or they get downed to fast its a dc fest alot of the time.

If 3 gens go and no hooks I have seen killers dc. I really think it is more than a miserable game. I think some players just want to win. So they play sweaty and dc when it's not going their way.

I personally like a challenge in my games. If I wanted to win all the time I would play Big Rigs. Even if I get downed and bleed I just grab my phone or alt tab to something else till it's over.

I think the best way to have the most fun is if you just don't care about a win or a loss.

  • Love this map for the Dr. Scratched mirror Myers is fun as well on this one. I over all love this map.

  • Lol ya! It's so funny. Everytime. Really, anyone just listen you will hear it

  • Yun Jin makes the stupidest sounds when she is being carried to the hook. Lol it's so bad. Really listen to it. I laugh everytime I carry one to the hook.

  • Yah. I never go to the exit gates. If the survivors are waiting I just walk around breaking pallets or walls to get extra points while they stand there with their thumbs up their butts lol.

  • Depends on the killer and bulld I'm using. I prefer The Game or Dead Dog or Hawkins the most. Narrow corridors, smaller and condensed open areas.

I hate the cornfield map. Corn blindness is real. I also hate big maps like red Forrest and Erie etc..

  • Mine would be based on John Cena.

    Perk: The No Sell

Once during the trial while in the dying state activate "No Sell" you are instantly healed to full health. Your hook states are reset to 0, you gain endurance for 45 seconds, you get a sprint burst for 45 seconds and if the killer hits you he gets stunned for 30 seconds.

It's kinda how in a match John Cena can be getting beaten up the whole time and then he magically heals at the end and wins.

  • I am a killer main all day long. I do play survivor from time to time. I feel that the matches are mostly fair. I play the majority of the killers. Some feel weaker than others.

I feel that SWF using outside communication is a bit unfair however, I still play the game. My matches are random. Some I do great m, some I lose badly Some are a tie.

Its still fun for me. The way I have the most fun is I don't care about a win or a loss. It's that simple. The very nature of a game is, you win some and you lose some.

Just try to do what you can. Play how you want. Just don't cheat. Remember, win and lose with dignity.

  • It's from the album cover : Brave New World

  • I would think Maiden and BHVR would want to make as much money as they can. It would make sense to have them available always.

People coming into the game later down the road who are maiden fans will snatch them up. It just makes monetary sense to me.

    But, never can tell.

  • As a killer main I never worry about prestige level. I just play the game. If the survivors are good survivors and they out play me then I get outplayed.

I like a challenge in my games. If I didn't I would play Hello Kitty. I thnk people put too much stock into swf/ prestige etc.

I just play. Win some lose some. I will admit the communication and coordination that swf gets is an advantage. But, I accept it and just do the best I can.

Remember, win and lose with dignity.

  • In my opinion I find that most of the people who Dc/suicide right at the beginning of the match or cause someone went down to fast just want an easy game.

I personally like a challenge in my games. If I wanted to play a game where you're always winner! I would play Big Riggs or Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

This game is too random, swf, killer, perk loads, mmr, good teams, bad teams and map spawns etc the list goes on and on. You can not expect win every game. I think both sides want easy matches.

Just play the game. The very nature of a game is, you win some and you lose some. Just play the best you can. Not everyone will play the way YOU want them to. Camp, tunnel, tbag, loop etc.

Try not to let the game get to you on either side. If you are not having fun go play something else for awhile.

Just my 2 cents. Remember, win and lose with dignity.

  • I got all the killer skins and bought a few shirts on the survivors that I do actually play. I would have liked a bundle option.

Maiden is my fav band of all time. I knew the cosmetics would most likely be expensive, however I love dbd and maiden so I don't mind supporting either.

But yes, I would have liked a bundle option.

    Up the irons! ๐Ÿค˜

  • I did a scream for me build on the doc using the Pharoah skin inspired by Powerslave. Did not kill anyone. Just pulled my best Bruce Dickinson at the end in chat. Lol was fun. Love the skins.

    Up the irons!

Wow - the survivor main bellyaching and entitlement has been off the charts on this forum the past few days! THE KILL RATE IS LITERALLY RIGHT WHERE THE DEVS WANT IT TO BE - SOLO QUEUE INCLUDED. The only exception is high MMR 4-man SWF which (wow what a shocker) has a significantly higher escape rate than all other groups. The only thing that needs balancing is a nerf to the significant advantage that 4-man SWF's have.

Survivor is not supposed to be the power role in the game and you are not supposed to escape every match. You should be escaping about 40% of the time and the devs have proven that you do, unless of course you're playing with your buddies on comms and then you escape closer to 50% of the time. Survivors have gotten free information status indicators, free Borrowed Time and free self-unhooking when killer is camping. No more hand-holding is necessary, and the escape rate stats prove it.

Everyone who is complaining should try playing killer for once (I play about 50/50 each role). You know what? It's actually quite difficult once you get to a level where you're consistently going against competent survivors. Most maps still have a lot of very strong loops and pallets that can allow survivors to extend chases for a long time and make it essentially impossible to win without any camping or tunneling with a vast majority of the killer lineup.

Let's start rallying around what is really broken, and that is the matchmaking. Throw out the awful MMR scoring system and put something in place that actually measures skill - it's not that hard. Quit putting hugely varying MMR scores in the same lobbies.

  • I will be buying EVERY Maiden skin. As a life long fan and fan club member of the band this is the greatest collab they could have ever done.

One of my fav games teaming with my fav band of all time. Hell yes. Take my money now.

    "Up the Irons" ๐Ÿค˜

  • Doctor all day long. Give em the shocker!

  • Jane. No doubt. Ummm Jane... That's a woman.

  • I been playing this game a long time. I mostly play killer, but I do dabble in survivor. I don't really feel any killer is that bad honestly. That of course Is my opinion. I respect OP's opinion as well as everyone else's.

Killer or survivor I go into the match and do what I can. If I die, get tunneled, camped etc.. I just don't care. As killer if I get swf death squads or just crazy good survivors I just accept it.

This game is too random to think you can win every time. Just do what you can. Just always win and lose with dignity.

  • We need Pee Wee Herman. Imagine his sounds lol.

  • I'm a killer main all day. I play about 90% killer 10% survivor. This game is too random. Sometimes I get sweat squads and get demolished. Sometimes I wreck the survivors.

Seems inconsistent. I do not believe MMR really exists for what it's intended for. I think it's a placebo for faster matchmaking.

Just my opinion. I always go into each game just doing what I cam. I never expect to win them all. It's how I keep having fun.

Remember the nature of a game is you win or lose.

You think a ~30% pickrate is absurdly high? Were you not around when DH had nearly a 60% pickrate? Also, nerfing because of pickrate is not a good reason to nerf.

Tell that to Hex: Ruin :)

  • I play to the situation. If it calls for camping or tunneling I will. If it's a chill game and I am well ahead in my objectives then I play more relaxed.

I play to win, but I also don't care about losing. It's how i keep having fun in dbd. Do what I can in the match. Win or lose Be a good sport. After all it's just a game.

The only codex I made for myself is, if your the last survivor and I get you down. If you don't struggle I will give you hatch / door if i have already closed the hatch.

  • I personally feel that swf is not a problem. The communication aspect is. If they have discord etc. In this day and age you have to assume that most swf or multi-player games have some outside communication.

Being able to call things out is a problem. Makes certain builds not work. As a killer main I play against everyone. Swf, solo it does not matter. This game is too random to think you can win all the time. I just do what I can.

Regardless. Comms is an advantage. If your using it you have an advantage.

  • I'm a killer main all day. I do play some survivor. For me, it never gets to me the stress of killer. Why? Because, I don't care if I win or lose. This game is to random to think I can win every time.

Do I think the game favors survivors? Yes. It's a business. You cater to your majority in any business.

I just play the game, do what I can and GG at the end win or lose and move on. That is how I personally do it. I know not everyone has the same mindset. However, if you try it you will most likely have more fun as killer.

  • I think what people fail to realize is, it's just a game. The nature of a game is you win some you lose some.

You bought the game play how and what you want. Just don't cheat. I may not like it or think what your doing is fun but, that's my opinion. I should not shame you or make you feel bad cause you play the game the way you want.

Don't shame me for playing the game the way I want. Even if you don't like it.

The devs (or anyone in this thread who just... can't... think of any ways to improve Solo Q) should watch a SWF play on youtube or whatever, and take a note of every time they share info that a Solo player wouldn't have.

Once all of those are in the HUD, we can have this discussion again.

If you can't think of a way to communicate those things in a HUD, please quit your job designing videogames.

I like this take. I just want people to admit that SWF with Comms IS an advantage. Does not matter the context.

There is nothing that could be done to "even it out". People who complain about swf blame every loss on anything but their own gameplay.

Comms are not the advantage people think it is. Communication is a skill. Being able to communicate effectively is a skill. If you cannot convey succinct, precise information, your communication isn't advantageous.

So, let's say your playing pallet Freddy. A group of solos will not know that someone fell for a fake pallet. A swf says, hey guys it's fake pallet Freddy. Throw them early. Now the whole team knows and it stops the killers surprise factor.

A killer runs knockout. Solos would have no idea where the downd person is. Swf, hey guys im down at the killer shack.

See. That's the advantage I am talking about. Regardless of skill of either side. It's an advantage that the killer gets nothing in compensation for. They just have to deal with it.

  • Swf especially with comms is an advantage. Weather or not they are just friends chilling or sweat squads. Its still an advantage.

The killers have no compensation for the communication and coordination of a swf. But the swf should not be punished for playing with friends.

The killer players want to opt out of swf. The survivors say, well swf would never get a match. Why do you think that is? There is a disparity there.

I do not know what BHVR could do to even it out. I doubt they will do anything as the survivors are the bread and butter of DBD. They are the majority. In any business you cater to your majority.

    Just makes sense.

  • The_Tall_Man.jpg

This would be my pick. Even if he was a skin for like the twins. The sentinel sphere could be like Victor. It could work.

  • I would love a rework of totem placements. Make them harder to find. Survivors have several good perks to help find them. They should never be right next to a gen or in the middle of the open map.

  • I like a challenge in my games. Some people want easy wins. If you don't wanna challenge and you just want a game where, You're Winner! Then play Big Riggs or Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

Don't DC. Just play the match.

  • I commonly refer to that as you got "BHVRed" lol

  • I make it a point to go after the unhooker. However, if you chose to bodyboock me when I am clearly going for the unhooker you are my target.

Do not use a defensive perk or basket protection to stop me from going after someone else. You are using it offensively. Basekit BT is used to help you get away. Use it for its intended purpose. Do not weaponize it.

At that point your asking for a tunnel. I will throw the whole game to remove you from it.

  • One thing I find funny is, killers say well let us chose to play with swf or not. The survivors say, oh then swf would never get matches. I wonder why? Lol they know they have an advantage.

Heaven forbid the killer wants a more fair game. "Not all swf use comms." Fair, not all do. However, as stated before. I would bet my weight in gold that the majority do.

    Just my opinion. ๐Ÿ˜

  • @Kaitsja said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3550276#Comment_3550276

Killers don't need anything as compensation for comms. Not everyone is a 4-man death squad relaying perfect information and nothing else. Most of the time, it's just banter between friends with situational callouts like "Shack pallet's gone" and "Killer's on me", "I lost them around main", "Killer's camping", "I'll get the save" rather than constant location callouts.

The thing that makes swf strong isn't comms. It's reliable teammates.

I get that. It's true not alot of swf are death sweat squads. But, you have to admit, being able to call things out is an advantage. Solo players can't know if the killer is chasing someone or if they are coming near by hearing the heartbeat.

However, swf can. "Hey guys he is on me stay on the gens" well a solo might leave the gen if he hears the heartbeat. But a swf won't cause they know. If the killer peels off of the chase tp go towards a gen swf just says, he left me he's coming to you. They run early.

So that's what I'm talking about. It's that level of communication that they should not have. Death squad or just friends chilling. It's unfair to the killer. But the killer just has to accept it and deal with it.

  • I'm a killer main. Reason for me is I find survivor to be extremely boring. It's essentially hold M1 on a gen. Oh here come the killer, run around a car 6 times. Drop a pallet. Run around 4 times till killer breaks pallet. Run to next loop.

At least with killer there is so much more to juggle. When do I activate my power, who do I hook, how good can they run, which gen to defend etc. So many different variables and each killer has their own abilities. I just find it to be much more engaging.

I have fun even as a killer main, because I don't care if I win or lose. I just do what I can.

  • I still contend that SWF can be a problem for killers. Especially if they have comms. I feel in this day and age of online gaming that if you play games with your friends then your most likely in a chat service of some type.

Killers are givin nothing to compensate for the communication that survivors get by using 3rd party chat. True, you can't say that everyone in SWF is using comms, but I think it safe to say we know the majority of SWF is.

Take pallet Freddy for example. In a game of all solo players you might get the majority of survivors with a surprise fake pallet. However in a SWF they just call out, Hey! Fake pallets, drop them early.

As a killer that sucks. They just ruined your build by having an advantage they should not have had. Again, the killer is given nothing in compensation. They just have to deal with it. I could go on and on about it.

As to what could be done to balance it. I have no idea. I just hope they do something. Until then tho, I will keep playing, keep doing the best I cam and keep having fun. After all, at the end of the day.. it's just a game.

  • @Zenislev said:

The mistake you're making here is assuming that the killer experience matters to BHVR. It doesn't. There's 4 survivors to every one killer and considering survivors play the game in 3rd person and the characters themselves are mostly just skins, they're going to be way more likely to buy cosmetics. That means that BHVR has a pretty vested interest in keeping them as happy as can be. if that means giving them a ton of information, making perks like BT basekit, on top of giving them busted perks that let them extend chases forever, while designing maps such that they have an easy time looping killers forever, all while gutting any killer perks and strats to ensure that survivors have a good time, then yeah, they're going to do all of that.

Killers sell on name brand recognition. There's always someone that'll go "Oh #########, a game that lets me play a freddy krueger and nemesis? I'm in!". There's always going to be new killer players to feed to grinder, so they don't have to bother trying to retain them, so the killer experience is going to get worse and worse and worse, and it won't matter. Killers aren't getting #########.

This is probably one of the best takes I have read. I agree with everything.

To add onto Zenislevs thought. In any business you cater to your majority. The survivors outnumber killers 4 to 1. If the game is easier they will play more, they will buy more, they will bring in friends who will buy.

    It just makes business sense.

  • I am a killer main all day. I always have fun playing killer. The main way I have fun is: I don't care if I win or lose. Plain and simple. The game is too random to think I can win all the time. Plus, I like a challenge in my game.

If I did not want a challenge I would go play Hello Kitty Island Adventure. If I get tbagged, flashlight, bully squads I just don't care. I play the best I can.

If I win I win, if I lose I lose. Same on the rare instances I do play survivor, I don't mind getting camped or tunneled. Know what I do? I click on to the next game.

After all, it's a game. The very nature of a game is your either going to win or lose. Sure you can tie, but one of those 3 has to happen. Just accept it and move on.

  • As a killer main it makes you target number 1. If you can see I am clearly wanting to after the unhooker and you get in my way to stop me from doing so, your the target.

Do not use an ability that's primarily used for defense offensively. Your weaponizing it. It is meant to dissuade the killer from going after you. Use it to get away.

Just my opinion. But I will go out of my way to down you again.
