We need what all humans need in DBD. GWAR!!!

I think one thing that gets lost in the SWF discussion is that some players act like voice communication provides no advantage at all.
I'm not saying SWF is unbeatable, and I'm not saying every killer loss is because of SWF. Killers absolutely make mistakes, overcommit to chases, mismanage pressure, and sometimes simply get outplayed.
That said, I don't understand how anyone can argue that real time communication isn't an advantage.
Dead by Daylight was originally designed around incomplete information. Survivors are supposed to make decisions based on what they can personally see and what information their perks provide.
In solo queue, a survivor doesn't automatically know:
Where the killer is after a hook.
Whether someone is already going for the rescue.
Which pallets have been used.
Which generators are being worked on.
Where traps or hazards have been placed.
Which teammate is currently being chased.
A SWF on voice comms can share all of that information instantly.
He's leaving hook.
He's heading toward main building.
I'm going for the save.
Trap at shack pallet.
Gen is 80%.
Those callouts effectively provide information that would normally require perks, line of sight, or guesswork or even seeing the info on the HUD
To be clear, I don't think this means SWF should be removed or that friends shouldn't be allowed to play together. Playing with friends is one of the most fun parts of the game.
My point is simply that voice communication is undeniably an advantage. Whether that advantage is small or large can be debated, but pretending it doesn't exist at all doesn't make sense.
The real challenge for balance is that solo queue survivors are significantly weaker than coordinated SWFs. If survivors are balanced around solo queue, strong SWFs become very powerful. If survivors are balanced around strong SWFs, solo queue gets destroyed.
I don't think there's an easy solution, but I do think the first step is acknowledging that real time communication provides a level of coordination and information that the game itself was never originally designed to give survivors.

I vote for the Tall-Man. Phantasm is one of the tops for me.
For a new Music collab...... GWAR!!

Except for the fact that with the way Victor moves by jumping, it wouldn't fit for a sentinel. Even someone like Skull Merchant would be a bad fit, despite also having drones. None of the killers really fit The Tall Man in any real way.
Also, the Dimensional Forks is arguably much more important to the character than the Sentinels and Lurkers are, since it's one of- if not his most defining aspect of his character, since it's directly related to his whole dimensional travel shtick and is how he's moving his zombie army around.
I repeat, if bhvr isn't gonna give me a Phantasm chapter, then they might as well not give it to me at all. It'd be way less disappointing to me, compared to the alternative of reducing the OG Slenderman and actual cult classic icon into that of just a skin.
In fact, the very thought of the idea lowkey honestly pisses me off slightly. I don't think that i would ever forgive bhvr for committing such egregious squandering of a cult icon.
After your responses I am inclined to agree with you. Let's hope they do it. Don Coscarelli wants him in the game. Im pretty sure he has reached out.
I do agree with you. A full chapter or nothing.

No. Just no.
This is my most wanted Killer and The Tall Man has so many aspects that can be adapted and utilized as his power. Literally everything from his Lurker & Graver minions, Sentinel Spheres and Dimensional Forks is there to be used, and for him to just be relegated to that of a skin for a Killer that barely anyone plays, would be nothing short of a gigantic waste of potential, in every sense of the word.
Anything less than his own chapter is a straight up complete and total deal breaker for me. If i cannot have him as his own character, then i don't want him at all.
I get it. But givin BHVRs track record they may feel The Tall-Man is too niche. Might regulate him to a skin. The twins would fit.
I 100% agree though. A phantasm chapter with Mike and Reggie as survivors. Funeral Home Mausoleum map. The dwarfs etc... that would be amazing. Perhaps the dimensional forks to move around.
-
The Tall Man from Phantasm would translate perfectly into Dead by Daylight as a Legendary skin for The Twins. Charlotte becomes The Tall Man, while Victor is replaced by a Sentinel Sphere. Hovering at his side, deploying with mechanical precision, and extending its iconic blades during pounce attacks. This preserves the Twins’ gameplay while delivering a completely unique visual and atmospheric experience, bringing cosmic horror into the Fog in a way no other killer currently does.

As a killer main, I dont go for the slug game. Its boring. On top of that, I don't care if I win or lose. This game is too random to think I can win every game.
I just do what I can and have fun regardless of outcome. After all the very nature of a game is you win or lose.
Best way I found to have the most fun.. I just dont care if I win or lose.

You’re framing this like it’s some unique design flaw when it really isn’t. Tons of multiplayer games especially actual competitive ones like Overwatch, Valorant, or League of Legends have players using external comms for coordination. Nobody is asking for “compensation” if the enemy team is on Discord. That’s just normal multiplayer behavior, not some injustice that needs fixing.
Also, you’re ignoring a core difference: killers aren’t on a team. You don’t have to deal with bad teammates, misplays, or lack of coordination. Survivors need coordination to function as a group, while killers are designed to be fully self-reliant. That’s not a disadvantage it’s literally part of the role’s strength.
And realistically, what kind of “compensation” are you even expecting? There’s no practical or reasonable way to implement that. Are devs supposed to detect whether people are in voice chat? That would mean monitoring external apps on someone’s PC, which is a massive privacy issue and completely unrealistic.
Lastly, not everyone in comms is some hyper-optimized squad trying to ruin your match. People play with friends because it’s fun. That’s a normal part of online gaming, not something that needs to be counterbalanced by buffs.
Calling this “basic game design” doesn’t make it true it just sounds like you want the game adjusted to remove a disadvantage you personally feel, which is exactly what entitlement is.
You’re mixing up common behavior with game balance. Just because external comms are normal in multiplayer doesn’t mean they aren’t an advantage.
In team-based games like Overwatch or Valorant, both sides are designed around full communication. Dead by Daylight is asymmetrical. Killers are balanced around limited information and uncertainty, while survivors are meant to operate with incomplete knowledge unless they use in-game tools.
External comms bypass that design by giving survivors real-time information the game doesn’t provide. Killer location, builds, totems, rotations. Instantly and perfectly. That directly removes the killer’s intended information advantage and weakens stealth, mindgames, and pressure.
Killers being solo isn’t a compensation for that. It's part of the design. The tradeoff is that killers control information flow. Comms undermine that tradeoff.
And “compensation” doesn’t mean tracking Discord or invading privacy. It means acknowledging the advantage in design. Things like stronger baseline info tools for killers, clearer feedback, or mechanics that don’t rely as heavily on survivors lacking communication. Games adjust around real player behavior all the time without policing it directly.
I’m not saying remove comms. I’m saying pretending they aren’t an advantage and that the design shouldn’t account for them ignores how information works in an asymmetrical system. That’s not entitlement, it’s basic game design.

Why would you be "compensated" just because Discord and other communication apps exist? This request would sound completely ridiculous to anyone in any other online gaming community. When did DBD players become this entitled?
Comms are an advantage because they give survivors real-time information the game itself doesn’t provide. In an asymmetrical game, information is power. Killers are designed to control that. Comms remove that advantage, weaken stealth, and allow perfect coordination. Real-time information is power, and when survivors have access to it externally, it directly weakens killer pressure. That’s not entitlement. It’s basic game design. I’m not saying remove comms, but if one side has that advantage, the other side should be compensated for it. Denying that isn’t an argument. It’s avoiding how information actually works in this game.

So you feel it is ok to have an advantage by calling out perks, locations, builds etc.. but the killer gets nothing? Seems a bit biased.Killers get a target of a 60% KR.
That is not the point. The point is survivors having an advantage with comms. The killers have to deal with it. No matter what anyone says or tries to gaslight its the truth. Comms is an advantage.

Since we know from stats that Killers also do fine against SWF, why should they?
I mean, obviously Comms is the nice excuse for people who lose a game. But the reality is way different. But keep telling yourself you lose games because of SWF on Comms and no other reason. Some very vocal content creators do the same and their viewers believe it, so you can use the same excuse.
So you feel it is ok to have an advantage by calling out perks, locations, builds etc.. but the killer gets nothing? Seems a bit biased.
Killer brings Spirt Fury. Enduring. "hey guys, spirit fury enduring drop early" totally fair right? Sure survivors would eventually figure it out. But the element of surprise is now gone.
Think comp teams would be as efficient if they didnt have comms?
-
I need to ask the devs. Will killers ever be givin any compensation for the advantage comms gives survivors?
-
I took Matheu Cote's advice. Im playing ARC Raiders at the moment. 🤣
-
I think for me personally. My opinion. I just dont care. Win or lose. I do what I can. I play according to how the match goes and feels. If I need to camp I will. If I need to pop a gen in a killers face I will. I just play the game. I do leave when the gates are open. No need to BM on either side.
Best advice I can give according to Shaq. Just dont give a heck.
-
I have to agree with the OP
-
I also think small measurable bonuses for killer when facing a SWF. After all, swf is an advantage. Especially if they have comms. The killer has never gotten any compensation for that. Sure not all swf are sweat lords or evil groups of players trying to wreck the others fun. Most swf are just friends chilling and having fun.
They should not be punished for it. The killer should at least get something to even the odds a little. I have no idea what it could be, but I still think they should get something In compensation.
I would also feel the same if killers had some kind of big advantage over survivors that was from an outside source. Give the survivors something to compensate in that regards.
-
In the bloodwebs I now avoid map offerings when I can. Like the OP I played a map offering 10 games in a row. Got my map 1 time.
I would rather just not have them so I can use BP on things I would use. They really need to come up with something.
-
For me, the way I have the most fun regardless of side I am on... is I don't care about a win or a loss. I just do what I can. However the other side wants to play that's on them.
I play the match. I lose, I lose. I win, I win. You can't control how others play. Just roll with it. Sure, it sucks to be tunneled or face a bully squad. At the end of the day... it's just a game.
That's how I do it. It may help, it may not. Good luck out there. :)
-
The Tall-Man from Phantasm. And Vamperilla cosmetics. That's my go to.
-
Five nights at Freddy's is marketed towards children. I know people of all ages play and enjoy it. I don't knock anyone for being excited for their fav chapter coming into the game.
I am just wondering what demographic they will bring in. I am sure we will see an influx of children playing the game. More player count is good for the most part. Do we really want a game that's supposed to be aimed at an older crowd bringing in very young ones?
Just an observation. If you all wanted Freddy's in the game then awesome! Enjoy it!
-
Windows is used way too much. One of the main reasons BHVR gave for nerfing Hex: Ruin was that it was used in too many matches and was tough to counter for newer players.
By that logic, Windows should be nerfed as well. I don't really see it as a problem. I do see it in numerous matches. To the point where I have a sound clip in my stream that gets played when there is no WoO in the game.
I think they need to buff other perks as well. There will always be a meta. Just give us more options.
-
I wonder how well the comp players would do without the callouts from discord etc...
If it's not an advantage, then they should be able to perform like they do in the tournaments without it right?
No one should be punished for playing with their friends. At least admit that having comms is an advantage.
-
Any farm map with corn. F those maps. Corn blindness is real.
-
I think the major imbalance is communication. Swf most likely use comms. Which is an advantage. The killer does not get compensation for this.
Regardless if it's SEAL team 6 or some friends chilling, it's still an advantage. BHVR won't show or remove SWF. They make too much money from them.
As a killer main I know when go into a match I may be at a disadvantage, but I play anyway. I would like to see something done to help killers, but I don't think that will happen.
-
Def a bug. I just had it happen to me. I was playing Freddy on Midwhich. 2 survivors left. 2 gens left. I was chasing one and then they both popped. One survivor escaped because if it.
I don't care that they escaped, but come on. A bug like that breaks the game. Gotta do something BHVR
-
I honestly think communication is the issue. People playing with friends is fine. It's the callouts and the coordination that make the difference. Certain perks and strats are not as strong with communication.
If anyone says that communication is not an advantage they are deluding themselves. When the game was first launched there was no SWF. I don't think communication was intended.
Either way, I still play the game. I check profiles when I can, not to dodge but to have an idea. If I see its a swf I will still play, but I know certain perks and builds will be lessened.
This game is too random to think you can win all the time. Just go in do what you can and win or lose just do it with dignity.
-
I am having fun with this mode. I am playing for 8 hooks. It's so refreshing to not have to deal with the same perks and running thr same builds to have a chance on either side.
I Hope they keep this mode. I was unable to play for the last week. I logged in and had 22 hours left till it ends. I would hope BHVR would extend the event. It could be a sign of goodwill as most of us want it to stay.
😀
-
Old Freddy had a glaring problem. It took 7 seconds for the survivors to enter the dream world and it was too easy to wake up.
They could finish a gen, cleanse a totem, heal right in front of you with no worries.
They would absolutely need to make sure that the transition was like 1 or 2 seconds as well as super hard to wake up.
He had built in aura reading if the survivors were more than 32 meters away from him. He definitely needed a rework .
If it were me and they brought back that transition they would need to make it faster keep his telports, knock down the aura read and make it hard to wake up. Perhaps keep the clock mechanic and have that be the only way to wake up or by another awake survivor.
He needs utility, give him pallets and snares like clowns bottles but limit them. Then I feel he would be better and like old Freddy.
-
I would be happy with better totem placement. Not next to a gen or spawn next to a survivor. Make them more hidden. Not ourt in the open. Make running totem finding perks more worth it.
-
I was rubberbanding a lot as well. I also had a match just get dropped mid match. Said server or match not found or something.
No idea why.
-
For me it's as simple as I just don't care about a win or a loss. I go into the match, do what I can. If I get wrecked i get wrecked. If I stop, I stomp.
The game is too random. You never can tell what will happen on either side.
I'm a killer main. I have the most fun and no stress cause I just don't care about a win or a loss. I enjoy the game for what it is.
Remember, win and lose with dignity

Just to be clear- your answer is "play the game and hope it's fun even with the balancing issues" instead of them fixing it to make it more fun?
I don't have alot of faith in the devs. I would love for them to fix the game and make it better. I won't hold my breath for it. When I que up I accept whatever happens in the match.
Some things I don't like some I do. Hell, my big one us totem placement. Like a hex right next to a gen? Seriously? Lol.
But ya, incentive is just to play the game. Devs will do what they want. I may agree or disagree, but I still play.
-
Killer "MMR" is shared. Back in the day they said each killer would have individual "MMR" that is clearly not the way it is.
The game says oh you play killer so you need to be higher even tho you never play nurse, who happens to be the hardest killer to play lol.
-
I say who cares? Play the game. Some games are good some bad. Some are a win Some are a loss. Too many random things van happen with 5 individual players.
Everyone plays differently. If I want easy game where I win and it's never stressful I will go play Big Rigs or Hello Kitty.
I don't give up on hook, I don't DC. Cause I don't care about a win or a loss. For me it's that simple. This is strictly my opinion as well as my playstyle. You guys do you.
For the OP I say the incentive to stay is just playing the game. Some are In my favor others are not.
Remember, win and lose with dignity.
-
In fairness, do you guys think that swf is a crutch? People often point to how tough solo is. People like to play in swf cause they are with their friends.
Don't you feel it's a crutch as well? Like the survivors are not good enough on their own to win so they need to rely on their friends to get them through instead of other solos?
Just an observation from the other side. I play both sides, admittedly I am a killer main. I personally dont run NoED. As stated above you run 3 perks for 90% of the match. On top of that if survivors are cleansing totems then there is a chance NoED does not even activate. If it does activate then it's location gets broadcasted. If anything I feel it's a detriment to killer.
Just my opinions tho.
-
No match I ever play either side is the same for the most part. Some games I win, some I lose and some I tie.
Thing is, I don't care about a win or a loss. I do what I can, I play the way I want without cheating. This game is too random to think it will be fair all the time or balanced.
I accept it when I que up. Both sides have their struggles. I just choose to not care. I have fun in DBD cause of that. I know not everyone will share my outlook and opinion.
Just remember, win and lose with dignity.
-
Robert Englund Freddy Krueger skin.
-
People often ask me if I could change one thing in the game what would it be. Honestly, I would pick totem placements. Make them more hidden. Right next to a gen? Really?
Please, just fix this. I agree with OP 100%
-
As a killer main I won't dodge 4 p100s. I will play. I like a challenge in my games. If I wanted to play a game where I win all the time i would play Big Riggs. Or Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
The nature of a game is you win some you lose some. Just play. There will always be someone better. Do the best you can. Learn from mistakes and move on.
Remember, win and lose with dignity.
-
"MMR"
-
I feel the need to put the obligatory, "Do Bones" In here.
:)
-
I think people just want an easy victory sometimes. They will dc for the smallest things. Killer and survivor. Lose 3 gens with no hooks. DC.
Oh its a nurse, oh it's the game Map, I did not get unhooked in the first 5 seconds, DC. I think its entitlement as well as just wanting an easy game.
If I wanted to play a game where I'm always Winner! I would play Big Riggs or Hello Kitty Island Adventure.
I like a challenge in my game. But I agree with the OP.
Just play the game. Do what you can. Don't cheat and win and lose with dignity.
-
I would think it depends on how many matches you play and how long. With 30+ killers it could be super random. One day you get 4 matches with a particular killer another day none of that killer.
-
I feel that the killer may be allowed to see such things as its 4 vs 1. To balance the game somewhat. Again, just speculation and my opinion.
-
I will help survivors do their tome challenges.
I let the last survivor get the door / hatch if they don't struggle.
I will always let a Mikey get the kill on me for the achievement.
I also try for 8 hooks then a kill.
I don't care about a win or loss. I make my own win conditions. But I try to be more fun and have a better time.
-
I also think it has to do with the win condition being kills and escapes. Killers want to win so they need to kill everyone as soon as they can.
Survivors want to win so they rush gens and try to make sure they get escapes.
I feel like if I played the game well like getting 8 hooks and having good chases that's a win for me.
Same when I play survivor. Did I get unhooks, did I heal others and take hits did I die to save someone. That to me is more important than an escape.
Just how I chose to play.
Remember, win and lose with dignity.
-
Honestly, I don't get stressed out by either role. Like at all. The main reason is cause I don't care about winning or losing. I do what I can. If I get outplayed I get outplayed.
Always going to be someone better, always could have done better etc.. the game is too random to think you can win all the time. Pls the game can be against you sometimes i.e. hit boxes, lag stuff like that.
Why let it get to you? I personally don't. I go in do the best I can, say GG after a win or loss and move on to the next match.
Gl out there. Remember, win and lose with dignity.
-
I always use gen defense. So I use regression. I like the combo of eruption and call of brine. Classic.
But as a killer you need gen defense and tracking. Standard build I run, Call of brine, eruption, nowhere to hide and discordance. Good gen defense as well as good tracking.

Just to clarify, I'm more in the camp of knowing it was a SWF after the match rather than before, due to the afforementioned dodging issues it causes in prematch. I just think there should be a little something extra for solo players (on both sides) having to put up with them.
I would agree as well. If we got to know who was swf it would work 2 ways. Sure killers would have more of an excuse to not look at the way they played and just blame it on swf.
On the same note, it may actually make killers say oh, it wasn't a swf. It's me. I need to get better. Killers think swf are the reason they lost. Sure sometimes it may be. But it could also be we did not play that well.
I would like the option to see. Imo.
