Meta shift is exactly what should be happening. You can't fit DS, BT, Unbreakable, and 4th thing if you need to be breaking bones fast or keeping gens from regressing.
This opens the door for many unused perks to be.....used.
They could shift the meta easily if they wanted. They created undying specifically for that purpose.
Change survivor meta:

The honest answer is Steam has been around for a long time and gamer culture just hasn't really gotten into all of the offensive isms. As a whole the community just doesn't care.
I know it doesn't seem like it now but the triggering is just a fad. It'll go away just like pogs and digimon did.

Well yes consistency is one thing.
However when you have a hex perk that has been considered the worst for the longest time that was only really considered somewhat valuable on Doctor nerfing it seems counterintuitive.
I've talked about this before but consistency should never override viability. You shouldn't make something that was already weak even more weak for the sake of consistency.
As for the no notification until one token that doesn't really help as the perk doesn't really come online until 4 or 5 tokens. Until then it's still practically easy-peasy to hit the skill checks. Hell even making it no notifications until you mess up a skill check would have been better
Is that like a green rank thing? I’ve never seen anyone, on any killer, bring lullaby, intentionally.
not everything is a buff or a nerf. Sometimes, it’s just a change

Yes, this is true. Any pvp multiplayer game can trigger the same effects. Humans are intelligent, but we are also machines driven by instinct. But that's not a topic for the dbd forums.
Well, we’re not machines. And we’re more driven by our id, which our superego has some rules about and our ego tries to make both happy. :)

Buffs are additive.
Debuffs are multiplicative.
So to find out how long it takes to heal with Sloppy Butcher (20% debuff), 2 stacks of Thana (4% debuff each stack) and Botany Knowledge (33% buff) and Resilience (9% buff) the formula looks like this...
16 / (((1 - 0.2) * (1 - (0.04 * 2))) + 0.33 + 0.09) = 13.84083045 seconds
From my own personal testing, it seems that the game doesn't round up or down after the first decimal it merely drops all the numbers after it. So the above value is simplified as just 13.8s. Even if the second digit was 5 it would be the same. However this is testing on Xbox which is 30fps, so accurate measurements are more difficult.
Also @Orion there is no cap for survivor actions. The only cap is We'll Make It which doesn't cap overall heal speed, it just caps the max bonus of WMI to +100%. So instead of getting 300% for saving 3 people in 60 seconds, you just stay at 100%.
FYI - Xbox isn’t at 30 fps. Xbox actually hits 60 FPS, it’s just not stable. More stable on the One X, but still, not stable. (Larger fluctuations on the Xbox/PS4 vs. One X/ Ps4 pro
The switch on the other hand gets about 15-22 FPS on avg. it’s max is 30 FPS, which it does not hit in game

If somebody brings up how it's literally just impossible for a killer B-tier or lower to win against a good survivor team, y'all start moaning about how "Well actually most survivors aren't like that! Not every SWF is seal team six, so BT/DS/DH/Unbreakable are fine."
...and then in the same breath you'll say that Nurse, Spirit, Deathslinger, and Pyramid have zero counterplay because the best players on those killers can remove your options.
I'm sorry, no. You don't get to have that both ways.
If we're balancing survivors around the pepegas who can't do skill checks and run into a wall every eight seconds, you don't get to balance killers around the assumption that everybody who picks Deathslinger is a member of Faze Clan with pregognition.
So a strawman argument. Love these types of threads. Zzz

Whelp here's your chance... Maybe Clown, Trapper or Wraith will get touched next.
Meanwhile in the nerf wheel: "Is Spirit the next on the chopping block?" Or will they opt for the far weaker "Deathslinger" next?
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1VS0RC6NA9QB/untitled.jpg
My personal take.
Trapper is just clunky to play at the moment with RNG riding from the moment you spawn into the map for trap locations, how quickly survivors struggle out, having to wear a minimum brown bag (unless they're running Iris Stone to auto reset) etc. Needs some QoL changes.
Clown needs to not be a weaker huntress and have "something" else in his kit other than "I throw gas and walk back and forth to judge distance for M1 at loops" then slowly trudge across impossibly big maps. Maybe he's easier to use for chases (even with Pinky Finger addon which increases his skill ceiling a bit) for console players but a very dry 115% movement speed experience. Wraith (with Windstorm) is actually more fun for me to play personally even if he is weak in his own way of not being able to really do much with his power once you actively get to the chase.
Spirit is currently one of my favorite killers to play and one that is definitely the most abuseable currently due to a perk called Stridor. People will cry that audio bugs makes Stridor unreliable to use but I'm yet to really have issues with a few hundred games running it. I don't even have trouble finding healthy survivors trying to play Hide and Seek with me (if they're not in a locker) while I run Stridor, Whispers and Mother Daughter Ring (I don't even need scratch marks). The fact that I can do short phase walks at 236% movement speed (not just the 176% of base Spirit) and accurately hit people consecutively is borderline abusive - I don't even bother kicking most pallets on the map unless my power is down and I HAVE to chase as a 110% for a bit.
The predictive element in her kit has be played up - release Spirit was considered weak because people didn't have enough games to realize how PINPOINT accurate you could still hear people during phase... She was annoying with the old Prayer beads but only being able to juke somewhat newer Spirits was a larger issue.
Anyways - the people crying about not being able to hear phase sounds and getting grabbed off pallets by the "standing still" mind game aren't really aware why that's so easy to pull off... the danger of a phase hit is high because of how accurate tracking is through sound alone - forcing them into thinking it's a lose/lose.
This is of course talking about killers who have 1000+ hours and can actually make use of this. Plenty of Lower "skilled" Spirits bomb out and juked themselves and don't run Stridor for reasons (on principle or not knowing how good it is), because I lead them around for 5 gens too... these aren't the Spirit players you should be balancing around.
Learning Spirit without stridor vs Iron Will is where it’s at. Stridor is great on spirit, but it’s kinda like training wheels

Why make a provocative statement? Of course the devs have done a hell of a lot to valance this game. Clearly they must be doing something right, if they’ve double the average number of players at any time compared to a few months ago.
Otz has an opinion. Cool.
-
maps are too small. 2 v 8 of the ol game play is a big zzzzzz fest

@ClickyClicky said:
Otz often makes good points but sometimes he gives off the impression that he's trying too hard to appeal to the community, telling them what they want to hear.
Moris - I still don't think people will be happy. Their line of thinking will be "well I wasn't hooked twice why should I be mori'd?" Not to mention the 4th survivor hooked will be the one who gets killed immediately off hook which is another major complaint.
The Iridescent head change is fine but what's wrong with Pinky Finger? has anyone actually played Clown with it? it's hard to hit.
Here's how pinky finger plays out...
- Get up close behind survivor
- Carefully hold M2 lining up the shot
- Try to hit them with it, if you miss repeat until you land it
- M1 to instadown
So you have to get up close, carefully line up the shot and depending on the survivor movement may need more than one attempt at it...
How is that any different to Hillbilly's chainsaw? even Leatherface is similar to a degree.
I think people freak out about Pinky Finger because it radically changes The Clown but he's really not very different to a Hillbilly. He can handle loops better but doesn't have the traversal speed so they're about on par.
Tombstone piece - remove T3 forever, yeah I'm sure the survivor that got killed with the tombstone piece will appreciate the change. 🙄
Exhaustion add ons are fine. Considering how a tap of the E button can completely negate a well aimed shot by the Huntress player I don't think these are OP at all. Survivors are just desperate to have their no skill required ez chase extenders on demand.
Map offerings should be disabled regardless. Yeah it would stop some fun builds but map offerings are just used to radically change the balance and it's not fair. If anything I'd turn all existing map offerings into anti-map offerings. i.e. all my Ormond offerings become anti-ormond offerings so that when I use that the game loads any map but that one. No more picking the easy maps but getting rid of the maps that are really not fun for certain killers like nurse on lerys, wraith on azarov's etc etc
Making Spirit visible would kill her overnight and Executioner just got changes yet they're already talking about more.
I saw parts of the video yesterday and it just felt like Otz pandering to a chat full of DBD reddit users so I turned it off.
You haven’t vs a Clown until you play against someone with pinky finger and reload speed add ons, running enduring and brutal, who tunnels and tunnels just to hit you with it. Bonus points if you have, and more bonus points if it was you with actual Rank 10-20 teammates in solo queue

PTB is the time to raise concerns before the changes go live so adjustments can be made. It's what the PTB is for, to check out changes and give feedback not just focus on positives and pretend nothing is wrong.
That’s not what they said. Providing feedback is different then “DeR dEvS dUmB”
Also - that 1% on 4 injured = a 5th stack essentially. Adds 3.2 seconds on gens potentially.
do you know how much 4 injured affected healing before? 16% x 16 (survivor heals you) = 3.12 seconds. If you self cared, an extra 5.12 seconds.
So when you actually look at the numbers, you’re getting that value on gens instead of on healing. So if survivors don’t heal, which most survivors in red ranks don’t care to, you’re getting that time back in gens.
Not a nerf. A buff on gen times, effectively buffing gen slow down by 25% compared to what it was. Everyone complains that gens go too fast. There you go

It’s amazing how people will play to be validated by “#1” by their name. I like playing at Rank 4. 8 hooks, black pip, and have a nice time. I’ll eat DS to give points. Eat pallets to give points. Purposefully standstill to give flashlight saves. And of course, chase and mind game, and appreciate someone who makes a good play. I’m always amazed in postgame when someone messages me to talk #########, and in my head I’m like “I hooked them 2x and let them wiggle off 2x. What are they going on about?” Or “camper piece of #########” when I’ll walk in a corner and count to 20 after someone is saved 😂
Repeat this after me...it’s just a game. Say it. You get DS’ed, well #########, it’s just a game. You didn’t really get stabbed in the neck. You’re not really hacking at people and sacrificing them to a made up “entitiy.” It’s a game. It has no bearing on your life whatsoever. Pretend you’re the bad guy in Inspector Gadget “next time survivors, next time!” Have fun, let loose a little

PH main here. I don’t know how many of these threads need to exist. Do a search before posting.
changes are needed and welcomed, what I’ve been asking for (mostly, they didn’t touch cages but that’s ok for now) since his release for better balance and counter play
-
As a PH main, I welcome these changes. He was too cheesy as is. I like a fair challenge that also allows for counter play. Makes for more interesting gameplay on both sides. Oh my god, a killer who can think reasonably with both sides in mind, the horror! And DS and Pop are unrelated perks. Quit listening to streamers to supply thoughts fro you.
Scott: whataboutisms are rampant in the community!
also Scott: wHaT aBoUt Ds!!!
-
as a 50/50 player, I don’t get the whining from both sides ALL the time. Scott June makes a video, and now it’s PGTW vs. DS.
What I’ve gathered from the 0-300 hour killer crowd on these forums is the following:
- delete DS
- delete adrenaline
- delete UB
- delete exhaustion perks
- make gen time longer
- make Gates regress
Those are the predominate threads these days. Here’s the truth, and I mean this in the nicest way possible. Get good. Honestly. The game changes from rank 20-15-12-8-4-1. You have to learn to adapt. If people could 4k vs a SWF with 4 unlimited DS timers, 4 two-state instaheals, more pallets, etc, you can certainly do it now. Survivors get one offensive perk, one, and everyone loses their minds. Maybe the next item in the game should be a pocket knife...

Im not saying the nerfs are a problem im saying they're stupid. No survivor main asked for a pop nerf so who is benefitting? The thanta IS a nerf because its used solely to slow down heal speed, the nerf might be a direct response to Forever Freddy which is what it is. Still isn't moris or even NOED.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1648035#Comment_1648035
But if BT, DS, and Spinechill weren't so good at what they do there would be more diversity in builds because a lot of perks do the same thing in different ways. I dont know if you edited or what but I missed the last part of your comment that is exactly how the devs must think lol.
"Spare me your complaining about DS and Moris, this nerf was to Pop! You idiot, why can't you understand THIS balancing is about slippery meat NOT the things people actually want changed."
I feel like i should spell out that its choice for the devs to change random things no one wants changed vs the things people have been desperately complaining about. Like your comment would make sense if they used a magic 8 ball to pick what they do but unless you got some insider info "Whataboutism" is literally the name of the game when it comes to changes lol
Nobody uses thana to slow healing. As you can see, it does a horrible job at that. Most red ranks don’t care to heal, wastes time. Just saying

His point about whataboutism was in terms of discussing game changes. i.e. every argument being shut down and not proceeding because of "what about X perk?!"
There is no argument here, they nerfed Pop. There is nothing to shut down, it happened. So now we can ask: What about DS?
Whataboutism isn't literally just asking the question "what about," it's using that as a distraction from an argument or question.
Great, you can parrot Scott. Using one perk change to fuel “change DS” is a whataboutism. It inherently conflates one perk to another, when the perk used as the “point” wasn’t inherently changed to support his argument. His whole argument was based on Pop being 25% and that time vs DS time. The % on Pop wasn’t changed - it’s been 25%.
Scott’s argument. “Pop was changed to 45 sec. You guys know if DS is used 4 times, the survivor can get 20 seconds before killer catches up (for brain dead killers who don’t know how to cut people off, and on those pesky maps where pallets immediately reset and respawn if broken). But for Pop you kick 20 sec off a gen, but it takes you 5 sec or more to walk to a gen. So it’s only 15 sec, and even if you get it 8 times that’s 120 sec at best (Scott’s math, DS 23 sec x 4 = 92 sec fyi). Therefore, DS should be nerfed too!”
sounds like a whataboutism to me.

I agree with the heart of this post. I don’t know about a free escape, but that’s not totally unreasonable. I think they should be able to get off the ground before bleeding out into the injured state. Sitting there watching YouTube for 4 minutes so the killer can yank their ego is ridiculous.

The point is no one was complaining about pop, but they nerfed it for the benefit for survivor, which is non existent. Even if someone was complaining about pop or Thant they aren't going to be happy with the changes. It has no change to the enjoyment of survivor and probably a little more frustration to killer
Thana looks like a buff to me. Thana is pointless as is. If 4 were injured, 16% x 80 = 12.8 = 92.8 seconds. A whopping 12.8 seconds to gen time. Healing: 16% x 16 (being healed by 1 survivor) = 18.56. A whopping 2.56 sec extra. Self care? 16% x 32 = a whopping 5.12 seconds. If anything, this will be a buff to thana.
For Pop, they cut the time to 45 sec and kept % the same. The perk is going to continue to be used. If they said “we’re cutting Pop from 25% to 15%” then you might have something. And spare me the whataboutism about DS please

I honestly think survivors that still do good without running ds,unbreakable, dead hard, adrenaline, sprint burst,bt or object are legends, tho you dont see many of those around.
Otz is a killer main. He just recently started playing survivor on stream.

While the complaints around PH's ability to zone with his power and most PH players reluctance to actually use the power were valid, I feel like the devs completely missed the point as to why PH players mostly fake it.
I'm not faking the power because it's too punishing to miss. That's certainly part of it, but the bigger issue is that there's way too much of a telegraph on it and there's not enough flick on it. You can't hit anybody good with it unless they're animation locked or in a choke point. It's a very low percentage power. The survivor only needs to move perpendicular for one or two steps to avoid the attack and PH can't rotate fast enough to compensate.
You can reduce the cooldown on misses all you want, but that's not what is causing me to avoid using the ranged attack. It will always be less efficient to use the attack repeatedly and miss. All the survivor has to do is look at you and stay on your shoulder. They missed the point.
As a PH main I’m excited for these changes. I also play survivor, and felt his ability to fake made playing him too easy. His cage, imo, has always been his biggest strength. I’m a little bummed they didn’t balance those a bit. But, excited for the PTB. Should feel better to play and play against.

BHVR is trolling again. calling an at best mediocre perk a lose lose situation and overbearing.
Let me just remind you what thana does. In a best case scenario where all 4 survivors are injured, it reduces the healing/gen speed by 16% aka +2,5s for a normal heal. Even with selfcare it would only increase by 5s.
In what world is this a lose lose situation or overbearing??
And let's be honest, the buff to gen speed reduction will be minor, maybe +1% per stack.

Defend what way of playing?, if you mean playing without DS I will defend it, because it opens up for more enjoyable builds for me to use.
Also what do you mean they are going to kill the perk? how is DS going to be killed exactly?
Theres also a ton of other perks that are from paid dlc, in fact some of the perks part of paid dlc are utterly terrible look at Lucky Break or Hex:Third Seal, so how does that justify DS having extremely powerful anti momentum when it is supposed to be anti tunnel?
DS is an anti momentum perk. Everyone says “make tunneling punishable still base” with zero ideas that could be easily coded into the game. If they actually did that, killer mains would ######### even more. All I’m going to say is this, if people haven’t learned already: be very careful what you ask for. If DS and/or UB are changed, a lot of changes to the game will come, good or bad.
when DS was nerfed last time, enduring was changed. Opened the door for UB because slugging became the strat. Change those 2 perks, meta will again shift. You’ll see

If devs removed DS/BT for a week (which they won't, well know that) players would definetly abuse it since they would know those perks are coming back. Tunneling/camping would skyrocket the same way when nerfs to medkits & toolboxes were announced and everyone had to use their syringes and best toolboxes. That would only prove that if something is getting changed for limited duration, people will abuse it for that limited time. Not really a proof that DS and BT are the true saviours who hold camping/tunneling at bay.
Most of the common camping/tunneling is used when it's warranted (unsafe unhooks, all 3 other survivors hovering around the hooked person etc), nothing wrong with those. That's killer not beiing dumb and ignoring survivors horrible decisions for the sake of their fun. I think that people still look at tunneling the wrong way, they want to punish killers for doing it insted of implementing new ways to discourage it.
Tunneling and camping did shoot up with the recent DS bug. I’ve already written this. 38 games I played where no one equipped DS. 35 out of 38 games I played everyone was tunneled off hook. That’s ridiculous

It's a nerf to midgame pops, but endgame pops are just as strong.
In the end it means less pressure for the killers unless they can find survivors quickly... which is up to all of the variables in a match.

If you play between 11pm-3am, you’ll get ranked with all sorts of killers and survivors, I’ve been running without DS or Adrenaline for the past month. In 35 Out of 38 games where there was no obsession, killer immediately tunneled unhook survivors into the ground. Being that I had a lot of purple/green/yellow ranks, this made games very unfun, and I would have to BT save before struggle/death to buy as much time as possible. Killers were Red/Purple/Green. Because there was no obsession, it was a license to tunnel.
if someone truly believes if DS was gone killers wouldn’t tunnel, you’re living in a dream world and lying to yourself.

Oh boi...
First, which perk are you talking about that got nerfed twice? If it is DS; this is a plain buff. That's why the pickrate is that high, compared to the pickrate before It was "first down usage" instead of "after hook usage".
The most changes requested by everyone would make it a better anti tunnel perk, because it "should" deactivate when you are not tunneled and it stays up longer when you are tunneled. If you need DS to have fun because of tunneling, then the new version is better. For killers as well btw, because they get hit less by DS when they actually are not tunneling.
The only reason why nobody got mad at this perk is because it became an agressive tool for many people, it straight got stronger. No reason actually to be mad at that. When I run it to not get tunneled, I almost never make use of it. Like every 5th game maybe.
I don’t think you know old DS, and are just parroting something you read. DS could be used when you wanted it before, you could use it after first hook, after 2nd hook. There was no timer. If you’d like to go back to that, and having to dribble survivors, be my guest

Scott: “whataboutisms - stop with it!!”
Scott in this video: “okay, this isn’t a whataboutism...(proceeds with a 11 minute whataboutism)”

Hey you're probably right I can be happy with 2K's but if that was the case, why don't you pip up higher for getting for only 2ks,but if you 4K you receive the higher pip to your rank ?it's because you're supposed to 4k if you want to.
I’ve 4k’ed and black pipped. I’ve escaped and deranked (I have to literally go down and get unhooked some games just to black pip)
”balance” and pip system are very different

Unless new stats have been released that I can't find the "latest" stats are about a year old and the devs themselves have said they are bunk.
When we are talking about massively outdated stats that even the devs themselves have said you shouldn't trust those stats then I believe we should stop bringing them up.
Who said that and when?
