They talked about this in the last Q and A:

Tldw:if you start putting a bunch of checks where a survivor can't spawn while still keeping it random. It's more likely for you to spawn near or next to the killer. Also if you say a hex cannot be within a certain radius of a survivor when they spawn in. And everyone spawns split up or covering like half a map. You know the general area of the totems anyway by process of elimination.
Yeah but a totem spawning right next to a survivor is still worse as it requires no process of elimination :/

Good stuff

I think she’s much better than what most people seem to think. She could do with some tweaks but we need to be careful of another Wee Bit OP situation where she gets nerfed due to new/lower MMR players.

Bubba has to actually win a chase to camp the hook
As BS as Bubba facecamping is (Which the devs have already semi-confirmed they are looking at anti facecamp measures), the killer at least has to put in a modicum of effort in catching a survivor which if the game is as survivor sided as some would have you believe then that's really challenging
AFK pig takes no skill.
True. It requires no input/interaction. I just don’t see a problem with it though. It’s cheap and takes no skill but the same can be said for several things in this game. I wouldn’t complain if they removed it either, I’m just not fussed about it.
-
I see no problem with it. This is DBD after all. If bubba camping the hook is acceptable then I see no reason AFK pig shouldn’t be acceptable.
-
Comms are the most powerful tool survivors have access to and imho they should be a default feature with an opt out so the game can be balanced around them, but unfortunately that’s never going to happen, and they can’t be disallowed either as people like to play with their friends, which is fair enough.
-
Trapper is in my top 3 most played. I like to set up a minefield around a good 3 gen.. The sound of two more more survivors stepping into my traps in quick succession is highly satisfying.

Ignore the kpop singer
Well I’m not a fan of trickster either and he’s an anomaly within the cast imho.
But at least he’s not a teddy bear.
Also two wrongs don’t make a right.

Gonna be real, the lore isn’t very kid friendly if you see what I mean.
Oof

Too cartoony and kid friendly for DBD.
-
One game isn’t enough to get an accurate feel for any killer. Even the strongest killers get destroyed by the occasional team especially on difficult maps. She could do with some buffs for sure but she still feels pretty solid to me. I’d say B tier but it’s early days.
Perks that combine slowdown with info seem to work well, allowing you to capitalise on her mobility more efficiently, and the addon that gives condemned on heal is one of the best, making condemned feel like more of a threat.
-
Actions speak louder than words. They really couldn’t care less what people think of them imho. Sometimes it seems as though they hold portions of the community in contempt lol. Having said that, I’m sure many of them are perfectly nice people. They just don’t know how to manage a community without taking things personally imho.
-
They nerfed him to make him weaker in low MMR, but in a way that only makes him weaker in mid to high MMR.

They want people to stay addicted to the game. That's the reason there is such an intense grind. It isn't rocket science.
I agree it is for “player engagement” aka artificially inflate the grind to make the numbers look better to shareholders etc, but it’s pretty illogical as it stops new players from getting into the game.
-
Mine

Hmm. A complicated question. Perhaps it must be answered in kind:
Where does your self-worth come from?
The never-ending regress in the series of empirical conditions is the key to understanding, certainly, the noumena; in all theoretical sciences, the transcendental unity of apperception, in other words, abstracts from all content of a priori knowledge. The noumena are the clue to the discovery of the phenomena, as we have already seen. As is shown in the writings of Galileo, our judgements have nothing to do with the Ideal of human reason. The employment of human reason, insomuch as time relies on natural causes, would thereby be made to contradict the pure employment of the discipline of practical reason.
-
I’m 100% confident that the grind is the major thing driving away new players. It’s just common sense. Nobody wants to spend a bunch of money only to sit there and grind for potentially hundreds of hours, whilst learning such a punishing game, whilst using weak, boring builds.
It’s weird because BHVRs business model is to rely on new chapters to being in new players, yet they’re met with this nonsense and understandably leave shortly thereafter.
-
Shes my new main and I have a lot of fun playing her, but she does have some weird design choices.
-
It’s sort of perplexing. As a new player, not only do you have to grind whilst learning a highly punishing game, but you also have to do it with weak, boring builds, and you have to cough up a fair bit of dosh for that experience.
Some chapters have brought in so many new players only to lose them shortly thereafter. You’d think fixing the excessive barrier to entry would be a notable priority, but apparently that’s not the case, which is odd.
-
Nothing really set in stone yet. Corrupt seems to work very well on her. The new scourge hook has proven effective too and Brine is one of my new favourite perks.
Currently running corrupt, bbq, pain resonance and discordance and it’s going quite well.

Yeah I can, and thats why I call them out of the poor conclusions.
When you do a survey for example, you don’t need to survey each individual within a particular demographic in order to draw reasonable conclusions.
If we want to approximate trends regarding the number of people playing DBD, the steam numbers will more than suffice as they’re a significant cross section of the overall player base.
Of course it doesn’t provide us with an entirely accurate representation, but it’s good enough. For example, if the steam player base trends downwards, it’s no leap of logic to deduce that something is driving players away, and that this something likely affects other platforms too. It’s the same game for every platform after all (unless you’re on last gen anyway.)
-
I did upvote but I don’t actually think it should be deleted, just nerfed appropriately. Boons are a cool mechanic and CoH would still be decent even if it had another speed nerf and a cooldown.
-
It should include healing in addition to totem cleansing.

No you don't. You hook, you go pressure a generator to push someone off it knowing the hooked survivor has to be saved by one of the remaining survivors.
At the start of the game this leaves one person doing gens unbothered, provided they're a SWF who can coordinate.
Proxying allows gens to be tapped out by an organised team. It is lazy & often leads to moaning by the killer that the gens go too quick.
If a killer is pressuring someone who isn't doing gens, that is a mistake in most circumstances. Unless they're tunnelling of course, but let's not get into that discussion.
Why would I need to leave the vicinity of the hook when I can pressure a nearby gen plus the survivor going for the rescue? I’d rather pressure two survivors and secure a kill or a trade.
-
Sometimes you have to proxy camp to generate pressure. It’s just part of the game. If you were to punish killers for proxy camping, you’d have to buff them in some way to compensate.
-
I think the lullaby is unnecessary however I’m pretty confident it’s there to help balance her for lower MMR so we don’t have another Wee Bit OP situation.
-
Personally, I find censorship to be offensive. Is there any way to censor the censorship without censoring it?

Ackshyually, the name “Dead by Daylight” having the letters i,e,g,h,t,a,d,y is a clever reference to the hit game, “Five Nights at Freddy’s”, which also has those same letters. Also, “by Daylight” means it is currently night, and that you will be dead, by daylight. Just like how “Nights” is referring to how FNAF takes place at night, just like DBD. Also, you can die in DBD and FNAF. Coincidence? I think not! “IEGHTADY” can be reordered to “EIGHT DAY” and it means FNAF will actually be out in eight days. Anyways, please like and subscribe to my channel and click the link below to see more exclusive content! Byeeee!!11!
Five Nights At Freddy’s is 5 syllables.
Dead By Daylight is 4 syllables.
This is where it gets a bit complicated as math is involved, but if we add them together (4+5) what do we get?
It’s 9!!!
So what? 9 is just a number… Well bear with me as 9 is not just any number - it’s an upside down 6!!!
Now here’s where things get a bit crazy:
So we’ve established that 4+5 = 9
And that 9 is = to 6.
Well 9 + 6 = 15
The difference between the number of syllables in Five Nights At Freddy’s and Dead By Daylight is 1.
If we take 1 away from 15 we get 14.
14 is the exact number of syllables in the sentence Five Nights At Freddy’s is coming to Dead By Daylight, bar just one syllable.
Which leaves us again with the number 1… The exact number of killers being added to the game with the FNAF chapter.
Coincidence?
-
Seems like a bit of a stretch but ya never know. I really hope not though.
-
He’s rough for the first few hours but you’ll get the hang of it. What I did when I started learning him was to equip full info perks, Lethal Pursuer, BBQ, etc, and just focus on back-revving and curving. Forget about trying to win and just look for opportunities to practise the fundamentals and you’ll improve much faster.
-
Most fun I’ve had on killer in some time and her new skin is probably my favourite in the game, however she does seem to have a few too many concessions in her kit.

I enjoy her size sometimes, but for every situation where it helps her compared to a taller killer, there's another where it hurts her. Some loops have walls that Nemesis can easily see over, but she can't. Finding people in grass (DDS) and corn is amazingly frustrating.
I don't mind her Condemn not being crazy, but as it stands it feels almost pointless for most of the game. Every now and then someone will get maxed, but that's a once-a-game-and-not-every-game scenario. In general, people just seem to ignore the TVs completely.
Her stealth...might as well not be there within a certain radius. It's by a mile the worst stealth mechanic in the game (and I'm including Pig on that list), which combined with the mostly pointless Condemn mechanic basically makes her an M1 killer with a RNG traversal ability. Bleh.
I was really hoping for more from such an iconic killer. Cenobite isn't ridiculously strong, but at least he feels powerful and threatening.
Fair enough. Aye it’s a bit of a trade off when it comes to her size. I’m used to playing taller killers so it’s a nice change for me and I find I have an intuitive sense of where survivors are over taller loops. Not had a chance to play her on a corn map yet but I’m willing to put up with it for the benefits in other areas.
Condemned is a tricky mechanic to balance for varying skill levels imho. Lowering the cooldown on TVs and improving the spawns a bit would go a long way to making it more of a threat in higher MMR thus encouraging more interaction, and without affecting lower brackets too much as it would be reliant on correct teleport usage / game sense.
You should try using Mother’s Mirror and Old Newspaper for her stealth. They really should be basekit. With some intelligent movement I’m able to get the drop on survivors more often than not, plus they help with mindgames mid chase.
All I know is I’m having a blast at the moment. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed a killer this much.

The animations are amazing! Even the Survivors seem to be more expressive when being grabbed by her.
But the best thing is her sound design, I love how it sounds!
Yeah she probably has my favourite animations and the sound design is top notch. The look on a survivors’ face when you grab em is a great. Almost feels like it’s higher res.

Agreed! She is my main now. I think they did an amazing job. This is the most fun I've had playing killer in a LONG time.
She’s my new main too. Haven’t had this much fun on a killer since I started learning Hillbilly.
@StarLost said:
I'd agree that she's awesomely designed from a visual/audio standpoint - but she's depressing to play against people that know what they are doing.
- She may as well not have stealth.
- Why does she need a lullaby?
- Her non-collision hurts her as much as it helps her.
- Ditto her size (corn...argh).
- A lack of an anti-loop, gap closer or proper stealth (she isn't even really undetectable thanks to the lullaby) basically makes her play as a bog standard M1 killer.
- TV spawn logic can put TVs in completely useless spaces.
- Survivors barely need to interact with TVs at all.
She could do with a few tweaks for sure. I don’t get the need for a lullaby. It can work aesthetically for that horror vibe but the same can be said for pure stealth which let’s be honest, would make more sense balance wise. It’s not like she can one-hit-down like Ghosty or guarantee a hit like Wraith.
Her stealth by default seems sort of lacklustre. It works well with addons though which is why I think they should be baked into her kit.
TV spawns could be more consistent especially given the long cooldowns. I don’t mind having one or two in random locations as they can be used to catch survivors off guard, which I quite like, but I can’t really justify that at the expense of them spawning next to gens, and having a TV spawn next to a gen but on the wrong floor is not good.
The condemned mechanic should be more of a threat to encourage interaction. I think the issue is that BHVR can’t rely on the typical solo queue survivor to play around a new mechanic properly so they err on the side of caution. Look at Pinhead for example. A very simple mechanic that makes people run around like headless chickens lol.
I like her smaller size though and it has was won me quite a few mind games. Makes a nice change as I usually play taller killers like Hillbilly and Pyramid Head.
-
She’s definitely stronger than what most people are saying. Probably a solid B tier. And she’s incredibly fun to play. I actually feel (and with the new skin look) like a horror character which is a rarity in this game.
-
It’s gotta be my second favourite skin in the game just a tad behind firework-gas-can Hillbilly.
-
Im getting it too.
-
I can’t really speak to her power level as I’ve only played a handful of matches and I don’t play much these days anyway, but she’s one of the most fun killers for me and I think her kit is really well designed, although the tv cooldown does seem too high.
-
DBD will be fine for a while but unless something changes it will run into trouble eventually. This is a growing genre and we already have VHS, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Ash vs Evil Dead on the horizon. Plus next generation consoles are slowly becoming more popular and there will be plenty of big releases in the future which will take a bite out of the console playerbase.
-
I was going to farm but I’m too busy with Elden Ring. 20 hours in and not even past the first castle.
-
Wraith is the resident “noob stomper” and he’s S tier vs new/bad survivors, but that’s not really saying much. Vs average survivors he’s average, and he’s subpar vs good survivors.
-
I wanted to grind out some bloodpoints for the new chapter but I’m busy enjoying Elden Ring.
-
Some really cool ideas. Xenomorph would get me to main killer.
-
I don’t hate the game but I don’t take it seriously and only play a lil bit here n there while I wait for ash vs evil dead and Texas chainsaw massacre.

It's not clear to me. They have to release content every 1.5 months, for 9 different platforms. For a game that started out with naughty bear developers that seems insane to me.
I just think making assumptions like this is harmful. Because if i picture myself trying my best on this game only for the community to say that the dev team is lazy i would just get angry and start ignoring them.
There’s nothing wrong with criticising a dev team, especially when they consistently miss the mark in a number of areas and deprive the game of relatively basic features, it would be remiss not to criticise them.
This game doesn’t even have loadouts after almost 6 years despite 197 perks. Loudouts.. Console doesn’t even have controller settings. The game doesn’t even run properly on last gen and people have been waiting over 3 years for a solution; entire games with more complexity than DBD get made by dev teams with fewer staff and resources in that timeframe. And these issues are the least of it.
You can like DBD and you can like the dev team, but many people think they do the bare minimum and I agree, and if the devs take any of that personally to the extent that it affects how they view feedback, it sort of reinforces the point. Though I’m sure they don’t think like that as this is a business and it’s nothing personal.
-
As it stand the playerbase bleeds, new content and marketing pumps it back up, it bleeds again, pumps, rinse and repeat, but this is not a sustainable model. Eventually they’ll have to pull a finger out to keep the game “economically viable” but that may not happen for quite some time.
I’m not too fussed anymore. I do love DBD even though I think it’s a bad game overall, but I’ll be more than happy to drop it for a viable alternative.
I’m pretty hyped for Ash vs evil dead and chainsaw massacre.
-
What a silly oversight.

Not to mention that many of the Tome challenges give an amount of BP that isn't economical, in the sense that one or two solid basic games will often net you as much or more BP than 90% of the challenges will. They are often something that you can do concurrently with normal play, but many have weird requirements that lead you to play in a non-optimal fashion, and can take multiple attempts and will ultimately cause you to lose BP over just playing regular matches.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of them, but the Tomes are not even a partial solution for the grind.
That’s a very good point.

Well yeah. The two things I brought up both take playing the game. But they do provide massive bonuses in addition to the points earned by normal gameplay. I personally appreciated these changes.
They’re good and do give decent bloodpoints over time, but they don’t adequately address the grind is all. You can’t really fix a grind with another grind lol.
One of the main issues is the new player experience and how it’s not unrealistic to be playing for example 100 hours before you have one meta build on one survivor/killer.
