I was just talking about this with someone and imo it's actually one of the stronger effects of her new basekit. You can avoid condemned but you cannot use your item for the rest of the trial until you're hit or get rid of the tape.
I get why it's like that and unsure if that specific aspect needs changing but yeah it's pretty strong as it is.
-
Just give people 3 attempts to self unhook but don't have it deplete the meter or just outright remove self unhook attempts without the use of perks. Either way it ties into the luck mechanic so both should be looked at again at some point.
Realistically though - If people aren't suiciding on hook they're just going to run to the killer or afk and purposely let the killer double hook them or even just hold shift while slugged.
-
Obvious answer - Skull Merchant
Non Meta Answer - Artist - Her sound design gives me genuine headaches and it's been an issue since she released - I have to lower my volume to 5% to play against her which basically screws me the entire game but it's to avoid getting a headache. I also don't particularly find her power to be fun to play with or against but the main reason is the sounds she makes.
-
@CoolerBleend said:
That would be cool if it wasn't for the fact that majority of Sadako players right now are slugging constantly until you just get condemned and die.
Alright so nothing changed because she still has no chase power so she just slugs or uses hit and run.
@MaTtRoSiTy said:
She is now brainless to get wins on, since I notice most solo queue players don't grab a tape straight away and appear clueless against her. If you want cheap easy wins with no skill as Hens displayed then sure, she is probably a dream come true.
I played her a lot before the buff (never did condemned once) and I thought she was just fine since not all killers should be S tier. I won most matches with her and have no idea why BHVR thought she needed such a dramatic buff
Some tapes on certain maps could be spread out better to be accessible / not easily defendable but for the most part it's a survivor issue with not picking up tapes. Although personally I've seen it suggested a few times and would agree that condemned teleports could be dropped to 2/4 instead of 3/4 and it would feel more fair overall. The main thing is the teleports acts as a secondary timer for the game so giving survivors more time seems fair since the power is more accessible and forgiving now.
-
Hook them and depending on how the match goes up until they're no longer AFK I'll adjust my gameplay accordingly.
If I see someone immediately by them I'll chase the non afk instead but if they're found alone and afk that's on them.
-
Almost all of the Legendary RE skins have multiple outfits that we'll never see due to them being Legendary. Most notably looking at Claire and Chris.
-
I don't miss the old Sadako but both old and new still have the same issue which is they have no chase power. The new Sadako feels better to play now but she is even more of a solo stomper. My games haven't really changed versing her minus she occasionally gets 1 or maybe even 2 condemned kills for people not aware to grab the tapes. I'd like the tapes to encourage her to complete a chase fully instead of deciding it's more beneficial to break off once a tape is broken. Although I do prefer versing the current Sadako now than I did before - She feels more engaging to play against.

As a game developer, you need to cater to your player base.
The most used "fun" perk is Flashbang, with a usage of 3.94% usage. That kind of indicates that only about 4% of your survivor player base actually uses "fun" perks.
It also indicates that 96% of the survivor player base is more interested in perks that will help them win the game.
Why would it make sense to cater to 4% of the "fun" survivor player base, and not to the 96% of the competitive player base.
Also remember, there's a lot of survivors DCing and Suiciding-on-hook when they're seeing other survivors having "fun" instead of playing to win.
Stats aren't everything if you're just looking at perks. There are too many random factors in DBD to account for. Also fun is subjective per person. It feels more like what you're referring to is meta and non-meta perks. Realistically most of the meta perks are never going to get dethroned because their mechanics are just too good and specific such as Sprint Burst. It doesn't mean you can't slot in a perk as your 4th for fun.
As for DC's - I've seen DC's for all kinds of reasons and it's almost never because of a perk but how a player is playing. Most of the game ruining related DC's is because players completing archives, farming or hiding. Yes a perk can influence a player but most of the time rage DC's are on the DC'r for having a poor attitude.
When building a game sometimes you will release content not everyone jives with - There's nothing wrong with doing that. I respect you're looking at this more from a critical viewpoint as a developer although ultimately it's not our project to guide it's BHVR's. I do a bit of game dev stuff too (3d assets / minor Programming / Scripting) so sometimes it's hard to view some decisions BHVR makes (Or other games in general) more as a player rather than what I envision things should be. Although I've grown to appreciate a lot of choices BHVR has made (And despise some such as SM) but ultimately I feel they're making the right calls for their game. I find it's healthier for your mindset if you avoid thinking of things as a developer when playing other people's games. It can really wear you down and prevent you from enjoying simple things.

Out of interest, which perk are you getting the most from?
I love all of his perks - Admittedly I had a game where I absolutely broke the ankles of a Doctor because Scene Partner proc'd at least 8 or 9 times at a high wall. At first I thought it was bugged but I was essentially just proc'ing the perk and seeing the aura of the Doc through the wall constantly.
I'll probably find a slot for all of them in my builds but unsure how to fully use Plot Twist. I see the uses for it but it seems the most gimmicky out of all of the perks.

I agree with you. He is offering something which can add some more enjoyment into the game with his perks. I genuinely think this is a great addition - just that it feels odd to describe it as a chapter to me.
Yeah that's fair - To me paragraphs are just footnote updates with smaller bits of content. Chapters offer a lot of different dynamics in a bigger package. I admit I am indifferent about calling this a chapter too but it is fun and has a lot of unique stuff in it so it doesn't bother me.
Either way - Already P3'd Cage and having fun with him.
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
One thing I don't fully understand is why it's called a chapter. Previously, when they released characters earlier on in smaller packs such as Bill from L4D or Bubba, they were called "paragraphs".
Well for starters Nicolas Cage is a big name and they used his likeness in game and he also has voice acting for most of gameplay. For survivor that's a pretty big deal. For Nicolas Cage given he's a pretty big name and an active actor I was expecting the price tag to be a bit higher personally.
Either way outside of the question - I love this update and it's a win for me. I love Cage's humor and the perks are fun. I could care less if we get meta perks - People need to chill and appreciate when BHVR adds perks with unique interactions and animations.
-
Luck based perks and offerings.
Hot take - I also feel self unhook attempts shouldn't lower your struggle bar. I feel every survivor should just get 3 attempts to use for the duration of the meter and this should be modified by perks. My stance on this is because we're adding bots for DC'ing and realistically the next step to stop DC'ing ruining the rest of the survivors game is stopping people from suiciding on hook.

The problem is that there is no adapting. They are dumbing down all of her abilities to the point that she is on autopilot. They are removing what versatility she had, and they are removing all skill from her gameplay. But you clearly don't understand that because you have a very limited view of how she plays. You clearly haven't played her enough to understand the nuances of her play that make her fun and pro-active and appealing to main. That's fine, but again, I don't see your opinion as one worth considering when nearly every Sadako main who has actually invested time in learning the ins and outs of the character understands that these changes just make her less fun and less dynamic.
And if you think most Sadako players were playing Slugako style, then you clearly are just getting your takes from youtubers. The large majority of Sadakos I've talked to were using Reiko's Watch and going for stealth plays.
Hit and run, slugging, cheesing the condemned stacks. It all plays the same because Sadako is a very basic killer. The only interesting games with her are where people know how to take advantage of her passive phasing.
I don't watch YouTubers I actually play the game. Watching content creators is going to give you a very skewed (And cherry picked) view of the game.

Okay. Pretty clear you don't know what you're talking about. "I play enough Sadako." I'm sure you do. Apparently not enough to understand what Sadako mains enjoyed about her, and how this patch is taking all of it away. I sure wish people who have only casually played a few Sadako games would keep their uninformed takes to themselves.
I play Sadako and every other killer pretty equally (Minus Nurse - Quit playing her entirely). I welcome these changes because Sadako won't be one of those games where the game is prolonged just to attempt to condemned kill everyone. You should be more open minded and learn to adapt to the changes.
-
Fresh new perks for a survivor I want to try, a lot of good balance changes I'm looking forward to, DC Bots and ever so closer to the next patch with the much anticipated "big" license. Pretty hyped for today.
-
I don't have a big issue with EMP's at the moment on Singularity - If someone is following me I purposely try to bait out an EMP by throwing a biopod randomly in chase and then once it's EMP'd I just immediately destroy it. If it was a Biopod I'm using I just reset it if I have a split second to. As for survivors using EMP to remove the slipstream it can be kind of cumbersome at times but personally my bigger issues with the killer are all quality of life stuff.
The only thing I really want on Singularity is for the distance restriction with Biopod placement and windows to be reduced. Super annoying on some maps.

Spoken like someone who doesn't play Sadako, and/or didn't play her on the PTB.
These changes make her the opposite of pro-active. They actively strip away her pro-activeness. Her only viable power now is entirely passive. Rather than strategically teleporting for map control, targeted condemn and information, she is incentivized now to just spam teleports solely to build condemned as fast as possible.
Her power is entirely controlled by the survivors. The survivors choose whether they take a tape or not, and if they take a tape, then Sadako knows she needs to find them and hit them. It's like she's on auto pilot. New survivors that don't know to take tapes immediately are just going to get destroyed by teleport spam.
And on top of all that, they nerfed her hit-n-run stealth playstyle by inexplicably nerfing Reiko's watch and taking away her ability to get bloodlust while demanifested. Demanifesting in chase and using her intermittent phasing was the only real tool she had in loops and now doing this will reset her bloodlust and also let survivors reset any window-blocker. This was her most "pro-active" playstyle and it's also being destroyed by this update.
I play enough Sadako but I'm not comparing these changes with the only way she is currently viable using two addons and playing in a specific way essentially cheesing the condemned bar. I'm comparing basekits which is the only thing that matters.
Projection has a 10 second CD - If you're in need to teleport more frequently it's hard to say you're using it strategically and more just using it until you see a condemned light up leaving you with no teleports.
She isn't encouraged to spam TV's to build condemned now - She's incentivized to punish survivors trying to disable her projection. You either slowly build up condemned on everyone overtime throughout the game or someone takes a tape and risk getting hit and having an immediate 2 stacks added to them.
Overall - It's a better foundation rather than just spamming teleport and hoping you land a condemned and then looking for that survivor. She has some addons that spread condemned that could probably be incorporated into basekit but that is something that hasn't changed with either form.
If her new basekit is weak that's absolutely fine because her current basekit is garbage and super addon dependent. New basekit at least adds consistency that can be built upon.
I see no issues with her losing bloodlust while Demanifesting - Most killers lose bloodlust while using their power or breaking chase. Her power is similar to Wraith so that she can sneak up on survivors while stealthed so it makes sense. If she was still in chase with Bloodlust you'd hear chase music. It isn't necessarily a Sadako issue as it affects Wraith too - Granted Wraith has more benefits to being cloaked.

I could name 5 people who a consistent long term posters who have literally been complaining about Skull Merchant's existence since before she was fully released when she comes up. It's not just fresh unconfirmed accounts doing it and it certainly doesn't explain why the Tools of Torment chapter has been sitting a mostly negative on Steam since day one with a lot of the reviews being not about her gameplay, but her aesthetics, lore, and lack of being either some emotionless cyborg or the Predator.
I truly like Skull Merchant and I know others who also like Skull Merchant as well. Folks are calling me delusional, but the most delusional stance that exists around her is people saying "No one really likes Skull Merchant", "Skull Merchant players just want to timeout games and have no skill", "Skull Merchant players deserve to only play with bots". Anyone who isn't towing those delusional grand generalizations get dogpiled out of discussions by people who don't play the killer, like anything about the killer, and don't want the killer to be made better and healthier for the game. They simply want them gone and Fredboi'd or just gone.
There are problems that need to be addressed, but the level of hate she as a character and level of disregard towards those of us who actually play her get is very much unwarranted. Very few people remotely even try to contribute constructive thoughts about how to actually make her an interesting and engaging killer to play with and against. 99% of the commentary on Skull Merchant is just people harping on the 3 gen issue like people don't know there is a problem. When you delve into those threads very little of it is addressing 3 gens as a separate issue unto itself even though people have literally been finding ways to do this with other killers for years. It's somehow purely boiled down to a singular issue with Skull Merchant players as the ultimate villains rather than maybe being critical of the systemic problems this game has had for going on 8 years while also being critical of issues that keep plaguing modern killer power design.
Being constructively critical is one thing, but a lot of this has only ever been just a echochamber for people who don't even want to acknowledge there are a lot of us playing this killer, not 3 genning and ruining games, and that the killer has some redeeming qualities that aren't going to be apparent to most people since she already isn't being played that much compared to any other killer. Even content creators seem to be more interested in driving negative sentiment towards Skull Merchant players rather than trying to use their reach to maybe be more constructive in their criticisms rather than harping on the 3 gen thing like it is an issue unique to her and not a systemic problem.
I actually like SM's mechanics regarding interacting with the actual drone - That is unique and cool. It's just everything else attached to her power is a drag. As I said I respect if you like the power but it really felt like you were lumping me in with the people who just don't like SM because of her appearance / lore. Don't get me wrong - I'm not a fan of her looks but I see her just as welcome here as any other killer. My only issue with her is the power is not fun when engaging with her as her power encourages and rewards hard camping an area or 3 genning. Usually - I don't take issue with that as my favorite killer is Trapper. SM gets free pressure by afk'ing in an area though and it's boring. I honestly feel she would be better off if she wasn't designed with Exposed in mind.
Here's one thing I need to emphasize - It sucks people are calling you names but don't lump me in with those people. I respect that you like the killer and it's cool that we don't agree but I'm not doing any of that.

The thing is we not talking about months for a rework. This dev team take much much longer to rework killers. You looking at disabling a killer for at least a year or more. The reason I said this is because of the promise Twins rework that was teased over a year ago. Even sadoko rework we getting most likely took them a long time to do and we just didn't know they was doing it. If was just few months then I agree they need to Killswitch her but I doubt it would take few months to rework her. Not with this dev team and the amount of time and resources they have. Most of their dev time is tired up in making new killers so they can keep up with their 3 month schedule. I don't know a single game that has removed a character for that long.
I am very aware which is why I said (Right above) we all know SM won't get kill switched even if some of us (Me included) openly want it. I accept it won't happen and just want to see a rework but at this point BHVR knows people hate SM so I imagine it's on the board of discussion somewhere.
The silver lining here is I rarely see her nowadays but she's such a buzzkill that the one time I get her every few days just ruins my entire game session at best by souring the mood or at worst most of my free time to play this game is eaten up by a 3 gen SM.

They did the same to Legion for a long time even after they removed the ability to moonwalk down someone with deep wounds, fixed the issues with stacking Filthy and Nasty blade, turbo nerfed and then reworked Frank's Mixtape and Stab Wound Study.
People DC'd on the Twins a ton as well, there was literally the multiple years of hostage Doc and the Forever Freddy days of his original power which caused a ton of DCs. It seems we've been playing this game the same length of time so you would have had to have seen this or at least been aware of this.
The response to Skull Merchant is extremely skewed because the level of baseline hate for her is so much higher than any other killer. Hate she doesn't really deserve considering where it usually stems from has nothing to do with what she's capable of in game and everything to do with people getting hyped up on leaks for Predator or generally being super snobbish about what does and doesn't belong in horror. So a ridiculous level of hatred paired with a generally very weak power that has one grossly over performant strat at the expense of truly being good at anything else means players are going to respond negatively in a seemingly outsized manner.
Most of the folks on this forum that call for her to be killswitched or deleted are also the same ones who were cranking out threads talking about how Skull Merchant doesn't even belong in DBD to begin with.
I am aware of it (Legion / Twins) - Just the backlash was harder with Decisive Strike when people were more entitled and not used to things actually being changed. With Freddy it was the first time a power had been completely reworked. So those were the only notable mentions to be honest. Could argue about every buggy and poorly thought out release but it would be a longer list and again by the time Legion / Twins became a thing and had their time in the spotlight everyone was more understanding of how changes would happen from that point on.
The hate is absolutely warranted - Killer is only good at prolonging games and is boring to play against. She ruins the fun for people whether people want to pretend they like her or the idea of her. Who cares about her visuals or what she could have been. The issue is what she is now.
If you're defending her because you like the power I respect that. But who cares about whether we think her visuals are good or she wasn't a license. Seems like wasted energy defending SM's power just because someone else thinks that. I dislike her because she ruins my freetime because almost every game she either stalls the game to at least 30 minutes and we eventually escape in the most boring drawn out game ever or people just instant DC / Suicide on hook and then I get to go back to lobby like everyone else. I value my time so I absolutely am for a rework of her power or her just getting killswitched but no one here actually believes that will happen.
For the record - I don't care about SM's appearance. Her lore is kind of mid though.
Also - The threads you're referring to on her not belonging in DBD are usually just fresh accounts. Most of the people who are consistent on the forums tend to have pretty sound logic for why they dislike the killer. I could name 5 people right off that very commonly make threads about SM and all of them are just tired of 3 gen strats.

Calling for her to be killswitched till she gets reworked may make sense from a balance perspective but not from a business perspective. BHVR would either have to compensate players who spent money on her or put her remake as a priority. Given how their schedule is, prioritizing her remake would push other profitable projects down the line like cosmetics or new chapters which once again makes no sense from a business perspective.
I think people are just overreacting to this whole fiasco. It was a custom match to test the potential of SM, that’s about it. Unless people were copying this strategy and applying it to public games constantly, the amount of people who might actually have an hour long game is probably going to be a statistically small amount. I recall Hens also did another video showcasing how long it would take to break a 3 gen on Dead Dwag with pre nerfed SM so this video is nothing new tbh.
Maybe people more familiar with comp Meta can shed some light on this but are stall + 3 gen games common in the comp scene? If even Team Eternal rarely comes across such a playstyle that it would make sense that they would have a harder time as compared to the usual looping and being efficient on gens playstyle.

This reminds me of the argument people had when Decisive Strike got reworked and people were demanding refunds because the perk got changed. Same thing happened with Freddy's complete rework. I'm pretty sure there was a statement about it that refunds wouldn't be granted. Granted I get it if the killer is killswitched for months but to be honest there's been plenty of stuff killswitched for a long duration of time. The only thing that was disabled for a lengthy period to my knowledge was Jonathan Byers from Stranger Things and that was before killswitch - can't recall if people got compensated somehow but I thought they did.
To be quite honest - I actually agree with people suggesting the killer needs to be killswitched. Genuinely one of the worst designed things I've ever seen added to this game and I've played since 2016. I'm still thinking of hatch standoffs, pallet and window vacuums and really poorly designed perks when I compare SM to old DBD. I also don't believe people are overreacting. Skull Merchant is the only killer I've consistently seen people either DC or walk up to the killer and point to a hook so they can go next. The majority of people who value their time would rather suicide on hook against SM.
-
All of them seem like really smart changes and overall looks like she'll be in a much better spot than how she initially was. Hooks are encouraged and hit and run can also be encouraged with the teleport and tape changes. Overall everything pushes Sadako to be more proactive on the map. Even if she's not strong it's still a better foundation than what she initially had but we'll see how it plays out in live.
-
I find if I simplify his power you're meant to save time by quickly locating survivors with Biopods to get into chase. When you're in chase zoning them to pre drop pallets has been more ideal based on perk setup. If they stay at the tile you can run them down but if you manage to infect them before they try to cross tiles you can snipe them and close the distance quickly with the biopod teleport.
The only thing that sucks about singularity is two things.
Firstly his biopods can be disorienting to use but most importantly his power is super finicky around windows for no reason and is probably the biggest annoyance while chasing around certain tiles. If a survivors movement is good they can hover around a window and you'll never be able to catch them specifically with the power. You have to remember certain tiles in a different way specifically with Singularity than with other killers just because a lot of windows block biopod placement even vertically and it sucks. It makes no sense why Singularity cannot place biopods even directly on windows when neither side has a prompt to directly interact with them. The range should at least be reduced.
He is strong though - Saves a lot of time on locating survivors and by performing some actions quicker. I also agree with a few post above. One of his bigger strengths is shortening the distance survivors have across open areas so infecting them while at a tile is important before they start running.
-
Bond or Deja Vu - I have at least one of them equipped. Usually both are to avoid bringing the killer to a 3 gen while being chased.
Most of my perks as survivor is mostly to help my teammates. As killer I don't depend on perks I just try fun builds.
-
God bless Team Eternal for holding a skull merchant hostage for 50 minutes to prevent anyone else from getting queued into them.
That's crazy though - 50 minutes. Most of my games against SM most people tap out 5 minutes in because they don't want to bother.
-
I didn't have time to play during the time the Frostbite skins were available and tbh the only outfits I do want. Frozen Trapper and Frozen Hillbilly would be nice to have as an option to buy - but just in general all the "limited" skins.
-
Likely intended but I prefer flashlights working on zombies because it would honestly be stupid if it didn't. Zombies are just a passive component of the power and they're annoying. They have eyes anyway so it makes sense.
-
I don't really see Deathslinger needing any major changes. He feels pretty good to play as right now. If you want to be stealthy there are plenty of builds to accommodate this including addons.
-
Some maps don't even have breakable walls and for the ones that do they fail to really offer any interesting gameplay dynamic.
Breakable walls should be replaced with something like collapsible structures. So that way there's a more interesting dynamic to destroying something. Destroying a support beam to a room to narrow the path or remove the upper floor, destroying the bottom part of a window to turn it into a doorway if it gets vaulted enough to even damage it, a wall becoming breakable if a pallet falls onto it. All of these things could be done to make breakable walls a cool feature but it's basically summarized in the second reply.
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
In theory, they were a new and interesting gameplay mechanic that would enhance the strategy aspect of the game by giving players the opportunity to decide whether to open up new routes or strategically deny certain paths.
In practice however, they're nothing more than an annoyance. The vast majority of them are positioned at very strong loops where you stand no chance of catching up to a survivor if you don't break it. And the remaining ones are either in obsolete locations (like the very edge of the map on Dead Dawg Saloon) or open up strong loops for survivors when broken. So instead of interesting strategy, you're left with:
- Walls that you NEED to break.
- Walls that you should NEVER break.
- Walls that are kind of just there for some reason and never see any use.
They're not fun or interactive and I wish they would rework their implementation to be more engaging...
I honestly would have loved if breakable walls served as a mid chase mechanic where if you broke one while in chase it would give you a speed boost similar to a surge of adrenaline. It would have been a good limited resource the killer could use thoughtfully.
-
I'd love to play Singularity but using Biopods disorients me a bit due to camera movement and it's very jarring swapping from chasing a survivor to biopods and back to chase. I doubt the power changes anytime soon to improve this. That's personally the only thing keeping me from playing them as I'd love to play them a lot more.
-
I genuinely hate the Pharmacy change - It used to be one of my favorite perks. It's too opportunistic now and needs to either guarantee a medkit without the need to be injured or it needs to have the rummage option like all other item perks.
Calm Spirit clearly would have been too broken without the downside. /s
-
I love versing Wesker and prefer that to 80% of the killer pool quite honestly. Buff the weaker killers out of irrelevance and I'll probably change my mind.
Pls buff Trapper and Billy
-
Overall I really enjoy this game with the exception that certain killer + map combinations ruin my fun entirely and I admittedly overall hate the event. It overstayed its welcome very quickly.
I play casually nowadays but used to try to win every kill game I could by any means. Stopped caring about a year or so ago. For the most part though the worst games I have is versing Skull Merchant (Worse if it's on certain maps), Hag or Pig and it's because they all play the same. It's boring. Past that I enjoy most games. To clarify on these specific killers - All of them tend to hard camp because they are terrible otherwise without certain addons.
Honestly I have zero complaints as the killer role - Game has been pretty fair for that role for a while and I never feel like I really have any unfair games outside of some extremely rare RNG for basic killers that rely on M1.
For killers I tend to play
Deathslinger, Clown, Legion, Myers, Ghostface, Wesker and Knight
My hardest games are usually between Myers and Knight. I'm wanting to play Singularity more but the camera movement on biopods disorient me. I used to play Nurse a lot but honestly it feels wrong playing them in the current state of the game so I quit playing them over a year ago.

i wholeheartedly understand your viewpoint and agree with its premise. i was placing heavy emphasis on the ones who personally choose to go out of their way to interact with dead by daylight despite the way they personally feel towards some of the things that have been going on with it because they prioritize their self-imposed FOMA, not the ones who are preyed upon and the switch being flipped for them. the reason why i did so is because of the common language that's used on these forums in particular; "i hate this game so much", "i only ever really play now for x, y, z", "i decided to come back ONLY for the event", etc.
sorry, my response was written in the early hours on minimal sleep, i suck at words xD
as someone who has ADHD, i used to fear missing out on things in this game to the point where i would spend days thinking about it when my focus could be elsewhere. as a result i changed things around to better suit my health towards the game and remind myself that i am not obligated to play or catch up, and that the content is not relative to my own life. i was never a fan of MT's, i was just someone who liked to see my own results and liked to be present, so i can understand how individuals may be itching to get EVERYTHING and have also personally seen how video game addiction consumes a person as well (a part of a neglectful relationship with a past partner many years ago was the result of said addiction).
side note: i sincerely hope your friend is doing a lot better now, you have me wondering about this individual.
this is why i attempt to do my best to remind people that dead by daylight is not an obligation, and that it's better suited for them to take care of themselves before they attempt to "take care" of the game. there's a combination of reasons as to why someone may be sticking to dead by daylight, everybody has their own reasons! but it's a little concerning when players purposefully put themselves in positions to become infuriated with the game and start affecting the psychology of others.

you have a fair point! i am well aware with what the developers have said, which is why i intend to go against the grain and encourage the exact opposite of the stance of their own game. i do believe that it is the combination of both the developers and the players that fuel the negativity, so it is my mission to try and start something to remedy this.
with what you've talked about, i believe this comes back around to what i've already stated about the community determining the game for themselves. i think the competitive community's side of the story is a perfect example of this.
their scoring system, if i'm recognizing this correctly, is based off of hooks and points rather than directly kills in order to secure their own version of a "win" for a team. there was a difference in mindset to create a goal that was not present in the game itself, and it seems to have stuck enough to the point where even the developers catered to this side of it and have started their own tournaments with these rulesets! this highlights the very thing i'm talking about, where players are able to alter an experience for themselves despite the game's foundation.
as silly as i might sound with this, i 100% believe that you do not have to play by the rules in order to have fun. the win condition is a suggestion, but it is ultimately the choices that you allow yourself to make to enjoy dead by daylight.
Oh no it's a fair point and regardless it's a good message. I personally don't hate this game but I strongly dislike this event. However I do find that the quality of the game varies based on how the battlepass challenges are each tome and how desirable rewards are. I get why they do it but I find it to be really unhealthy with how they encourage players to keep coming back but I of course am biased due to witnessing people succumb to such tactics.
As for the game as a whole - I enjoy it and for the most part never feel forced to play. The only time that absolutely was the case was when I was unable to play for a bit and got back on the ghostface tome with about 14 days left with zero progress on it and considering I love Scream and by extension all of the mask I absolutely no lifed the game. Took a long break after that one.
-
Personally I feel the map needs another tile in the more barren corner of the map but I don't care for the overall design of the map. I love the aesthetic and actual art and I'd argue visually it's one of the best maps in the game but I just hate how all the tiles are currently arranged on it.
I would love for at least one more map in that realm to exist though. Same thing with Lery's as well. I feel like every realm should have at least two maps for better variety and somewhat consistent RNG factors.

as much as FOMA exists, you don't need to force yourself to play. the commitment is a conscious decision and i just wanted to remind individuals that their mental, physical, and emotional health will forever be more important than a game!

of course! glad i could help remind people to take care of themselves <3

yes, i recommend you take a break
I can't fully agree on this - I understand what you mean but everyone is different. I personally have the willpower to quit and only continued to play out of spite and bitterness because 3 challenges did not track progress on me which later BHVR fixed or they just started working. I went around them because I'm stubborn.
FOMA is predatory and yes it does prey on the weak willed it also inconveniences and annoys normal users like you and I. For me I don't have the time to just casually play all the time because I'm working on game assets all the time. So sometimes if I like the content considering DBD is one of my favorite games yes I will sometimes play with the sole purpose of getting a challenge out of the way. I did this with the Ghostface battlepass because Ghostface is one of my favorite slasher villains but realistically I don't have the time and paying 1 dollar per level is stupid I'd rather buy the cosmetics straight up. These things are what makes me slowly get burned out on the game or consider just looking at DBD as a side game. My breaks on caring about that is typically when most of the contents of the battlepass is terrible and then I just outright ignore it for those months.
Regardless - Video game addiction is a thing. I've had plenty of friends I lost contact with that I've tried to help because they could not resist playing games due to limited content. As stupid as it sounds this is a thing. I won't name the game but I've watched a friend dip into their college funds and spend $2000 on MT's because they never wanted to worry about limited content again and I genuinely asked them "Are you out of your ######### mind - Why did you do that?". That's an extreme example but anyone can fall into that rabbit hole for any game with timed content. You could say it's affected me personally quite a bit because I've watched from point A to B on how it can slowly affect people. My friend that dipped into their college funds very gradually slipped down that slope for a steady 2 years. I eventually lost contact with them and they actually had to see a therapist from what I was told through other friends who somehow knew them.

Also important when taking a extended break to completely step away from the game.
Taking a break from the game but still visiting the forums everyday where you only see negativity isn't going to make your break very effective as you hyperfocussed on the negatives without any chance for the positives to happen.
I agree on this though - If you take a break from a game take a break from its community as well.

I feel like the voices add personality to characters and it's something BHVR is slowly experimenting with. I know many including myself have asked for characters to have more personality for years so this is probably their gateway to experiment with it and see what the reception is.
Being quite honest though - DBD has its moments but it stopped being scary when they removed the thick atmospheric fog. At some point any killer could walk and approach you across the map and it was very ominous and scary at times because it was easy to not notice. BHVR removed the fog because optimization reasons I believe and I will be honest the game hasn't felt the same since. The graphical overhauls were nice but it will never make up for the presence the fog had.

Birkin can have Nemesis' chase theme. He's a BOW, so it fits more than Wesker's. I'd have switched Hunk's and Birkin's menu music around too for the same reason. Hunk's a man, not a monster.
For his chase/ Hunk, would ideally get a riff off that theme he had in RE2make.
As for voice lines, I don't know the character well enough to say what his voicelines could be. Beyond "MY EXTRACTION POINT" anyway.
I'd like for some rare quips from HUNK and a chase theme of some sort. Personally I feel that every Legendary that changes the character completely should also change the selection portrait when the cosmetic is equipped but that's just me.

Well to be honest - The game makes it hard for some people to take a break when there is constantly timed content - Now even made worse with holiday stuff in the store. I get what you mean but I've seen plenty of games perpetually pull people into a negative game cycle because they over exercise FOMA. Right now a lot of people (Even to an extent myself) are forcing theirself to play just to get the rest of the rewards from the battlepass or to take advantage of the huge amount of bp. After this event I won't be surprised if the playercount drops a little bit due to a lot of players having burnout.
Personally I cannot wait until the event is over.

There should be different types of chest in game and keys should instantly open chest or speed up opening them.
We literally have a padlock we pry off of a chest to open chest currently why can we not open them with keys?
-
Specifically for video game licenses.
Horror related - Alone In The Dark, Bioshock or Outlast
For a crossover not specifically horror but with horror elements in the story guest killer - Postal (Based off of 1)
In particular - I'd love for an Outlast chapter where somehow the night vision camera with batteries is integrated into gameplay
-
I genuinely have never been excited for a survivor or their perks but here we are. After seeing him in PTB and seeing Cage's perks I want to play as him even more now.
-
I love that the perk is getting love but know I'm going to hate it as killer. Awesome that both Blast Mine and Wiretap are getting buffs though. Hopefully more perks similar to them will make their way into game as well now that some numbers seem to be normalized between them.
-
The main thing I like about the event is it's experimenting with features that could potentially be features.
I do like the disposable insta-break pallets and can see them being used to weaken extremely strong loops in the future. I also really like the randomizer for perks and feel that should be a permanent feature.
Everything else though feels pretty awful and overall I don't like these things being spammed while in chase. In concept though great ideas.

I am asking for original characters ofcourse, BHVR have no power on licensed characters.
We have one gay character: David. And some straight characters: Felix, Nurse, Frank & Julie (That's all if i am not mistaken).
So how you would feel if BHVR reveal all of og characters? Or keeping them for our imaginations is better idea? What do you think?
I prefer if they go the route of revealing that specific information for everyone if it's relevant to the story in some way and each character has personality in lobby somehow. It feels pointless telling a backstory for a character or even adding to it when most characters don't have personality past their cosmetics. Gabriel for example has voice acting in the opening of DBD and in the lobby and I think that's awesome. I want more of that and even developing relationships and interactions of survivors around the campfire as they work together to survive. It's not necessary in game but it would help a lot in the lobby if BHVR wanted to expand on characters more.
-
Yes - Eventually.
I just see the perk getting an additional restriction such as not working while affected by either Exhaustion or Deep Wounds. Alternatively being given a timer like Lucky Break. Personally I feel the perk itself is fine and the killers it affects are typically the worst of the worst m1 killers that also get affected by maps and haste stacking. Although in some niche situations I can see it affecting all killers.
tl;dr - Nerf haste stacking

I've had a similar experience and while I try to keep playing DBD I primarily play other games now. Do you have any other games you play or is DBD just your go to?
Earlier I got accused of cheating by a Deathslinger because I just kept crouching to avoid their shots and they bled me out and humped me on the ground for a few minutes before finally hooking. Feels like moments like that have been tripled since the event but I'm not too invested into DBD so much as I used to be so I just find alternatives to play if I get tilted. It's helped my mentality with this game a bit having other games to go to.
Not sure if you're up for suggestions but Deep Rock Galactic is a great side game to play. Definitely a good chillout game when DBD gets too tilting.
Also - One thing you and a few others bring up is lobby shopping because prestige number. I really wish they would hide prestige numbers as I've made the mistake of prestiging my favorite character too many times. I get tired of sitting in a ######### lobby only to have a dogwater game shortly after. We all know prestige means nothing but I feel it's the reason I spend more time in the lobby than in game.

I did the survey but did not get those questions. What was the stipulation to get that question?
