  • I'm sorry but if you lose 3 gens before getting your first down, the odds of you winning that as a Killer are slim to begin with, this patch doesn't change that

  • Honestly? I think Killer has gotten easier, at least in my experience, I've been winning more of my games then ever because the Killers I play are able to pretty easily handle the majority of teams and what they bring

If I was going up against 4 man SWF teams bringing the strongest stuff in the game on a regular basis, then sure, it'd be harder, but most players simply aren't good enough or don't care enough to even bother bringing stuff that's actually strong

  • If I was to change Legion and Oni, I'd make it so that Legion doesn't apply Deep Wound on Healthy Survivors, and make it so that Oni requires a lot more Blood before he can activate Blood Fury

Most of their pain points come from 2v8 Survivors just not being very good and actively feeding them, if more people played Medic and the recently buffed Escapist and actually tried to work as a team, they'd be far less of a pain

Got a 21 minute queue, no pop up
This was so long I was able to run to the shop to buy dinner and still had to sit in queue for 3 minutes before I got a game

  • I've seen it a grand total of once, and that was after burning a couple of map offerings for it
It's a pretty miserable map, I'm just lucky I got the achievement first-try

  • Leaving a comment to hopefully keep this post on the front page

But yeah these changes are completely unacceptable, people already complained that the version seen in the last Rift was too grindy, BHVR should not have responded to that by making it even worse

  • What I am reading from this is that if it doesn’t literally crash the game, it’s not considered “game-breaking” and will therefore not be killswitched

And since BHVR for some reason stopped banning people for abusing ######### like this even though it is both incredibly obvious and has zero chance of ever being done on accident, people basically just have Carte Blanche to keep abusing this until it gets fixed, if it even does

What timeline am I living in and can I please leave it

  • I think I can hear the sound of one particular British man currently sobbing into a pillow knowing that what is basically his wife at this point is going to be stuck in the position of Worst Killer in The Game for another 6 months at bare minimum

The knowledge that they want to actually keep the trap playstyle and the fact that they aren't rushing something half-baked out is nice, but still, a couple of buffs in the mean time wouldn't break the camels back

IIRC Mathieu Cote (or one of the devs) said awhile ago that Disney are really easy to work with. When we've had Netflix pulling stunts with ST and Pinhead getting taken away, it's actually nice to see.

The idea of Disney being a easy company to work with is a idea that does not compute in my brain, but if it means we keep getting more cool Alien skins (Or, even better, a future Predator chapter) then I'm not complaining

There are no bad perks in DbD, only people who don't know how to put them to good use.

Pain res is just annoying because it's used too often by killers that can't think for themselves , but is extremely easy to counter.

While the optimism is pretty cool, you can’t seriously say DBD has no bad perks when things like No Mither exist

  • @thrawn3054 said:

I have to disagree the macro heavy killers are disliked because you need to think and plan ahead. Though I'm sure that's true to some extent. I think they're unpopular because they get their teeth kicked in pretty frequently. It's hard to enjoy a killer when you feel like you're the one getting killed.

The unfortunate reality with that is, since the more Macro-heavy Killers are weaker on the whole, they’re played less, which means less people are encouraged to play them due to requiring more effort for the same results more Micro-dependant Killers can achieve with less effort, which causes the devs to make less Macro-heavy killers since they look at the stats and see they’re unpopular

Singularity’s the closest we have to a strong Macro-dependant Killer, but even then the easiest and by extension the most popular way to play him is to just launch a Biopod at the first person you see and teleport spam them to death, and maybe hold a 3 gen with Biopods if needed, that’s as far as most people go when it comes to Singularity’s Macro-play because you just simply don’t need to have a good grasp of Macro to play him and do decently well

I think if we got a real A or even S tier Macro-dependant Killer, who’s kit cares less about quick chases and more about outthinking the Survivors, then maybe the community would as a whole appreciate the concept more, but the problem with that is how you make a A or S tier Macro killer that isn’t obnoxious to play against or infuriating to play

Then yea this list needs refinement.

No. Plague you have to know what to do with power and when to take a red fountain, thats her macro. Where and who to chase, what to disease, keep disease up etc… this isnt micro. This is all macro and setup.

If you play plague "all about chase" and ignore these things you are just straight out weaker. Youll take red fountain, brain off and make it all about chase, and most likely lose breaking a bunch of pallets and not having another fountain to use.

Can probably get away with playing her like that if you are facing new survivors no doubt.

Meyers again, cant even be micro. His setup alone is all macro. You cant even chase until you have tiered up and its not like TII meyers is killing people left and right. Its TIII.
Not to mention his easily most popular perk picked is play with your food. An entirely macro play based perk. So meyers is not micro in the slightest.

I disagree with your whole idea that macro is a way to lose or is where weak/strong killers are. Nurse/Blight/Kanakei are strong because balance wise they are just fundamentally broken, not really anything to do with micro or macro.

I dont see how you think Artist is macro either. She has no setup, nothing really long game wise outside of personal strategy. She plays the same as Unknown but with no teleport(macro) so youd swap these two on your list places. As you can strategically setup unknowns teleport. You cant really do anything with crows for macro game its "all about chase" with her.

Plague’s decision making boils down entirely to if you even want to bother exercising the effort in Infecting something to begin with, that is it, that is all her Macro-play is, her gameplan is entirely centered around spreading her infection to everything and then fully Infecting someone once you see them, there is no strategy, there is barely any Macro, it is entirely chase-oriented

Myers is also, once again, entirely Micro, just because he sometimes might not want to Stalk someone immediately does not change that his entire power is “make Chase better”,

PWYF and perks in general have minimal baring in this discussion about Killer powers so no idea why you’d bring that up

I also never said that Macro is how you lose in DBD, what I actually said was that the player-base doesn’t like it and most of the killers who rely on Macro are weak, which they are with minimal exception.

Fundamentally broken or not, Nurse Kaneki and Blight all only care about chases, ergo, they’re entirely reliant on Micro

Artist cares about Macro because she has to consider where Survivors are going to go and where lockers are, as well as how many Crows she wants to place down in order to manage the subsequent cooldown, her Crows are substantially weaker if you aren’t at least passable at predicting Survivor movement or try to hit people in areas with lockers.

  • Shoulder The Burden

Best case scenario, you rob a Killer of most of their hook pressure with a single button press

Worst case scenario, you get yourself killed using it and give the killer the freest win possible

Majority of cases, the perk doesn’t do ######### because the killer wasn’t trying to get someone out of the match quickly to begin with and now you’re on Death Hook for no reason

This perk is either bullshit or dogshit depending on which side you’re on of whichever of these scenarios ends up happening in the 1 in a 1000 games you actually see the damn thing used

  • @ChuckingWong said:

Can you maybe restate what you mean a bit more concise? What does this list represent?

Killers you think are micro and macro? Or how you play against them? Both?

Micro and your definition of it describes almost the opposite of what Plague is but you listed her in micro leaning.

Meyers cant even be micro he has to tier up as well. Hes 100% a macro killer

Micro in DBD means your individual chase performance, Macro is your overall strategy for the match

Most Killers are designed to care pretty much entirely around how well they do in Chase, I.e, they’re reliant on Micro. Whereas a Killer like Trapper or Hag have to consider where they’re going to set up their power to get value, I.E, Macro.

Plague is almost entirely dependant on Micro, her power has some use outside of chases but ultimately you either vomit on someone until they’re Broken or they cleanse and give you a power that can do actual damage, there’s minimal Macro and what Macro there is is pretty passive and entirely in the hands of Survivors being dumb and doing the one thing they should never do against a Plague.

As for Myers, he is entirely Micro, his power is dedicated to nothing but making his chases quicker through Exposed, the only reason he wasn’t in Micro Heavy is because you have to sometimes consider when to Stalk and who you’re Stalking instead of just stalking the first person you see every chance you get

competitiveness is not about "comp kids". competitiveness is about parity. parity applies to everyone. parity means that low skilled players play against low skilled players. it means that average players play against average players. it means high skilled players play against high skilled players. it's striking that people seem to not understand that competitiveness applies to everyone. a competitive environment should exist for the lowest skilled player in the game, and the highest. if you don't understand this i don't know what to tell you.

How exactly are you meant to create a competitive environment for everybody when less then 1% of the player-base even considers playing the game competitively, let alone actually engages with the competitive scene?

If a overwhelming majority of a game's player-base is either apathetic or outright hostile to the idea of a Competitive scene, then what incentive does BHVR or any company for that matter have for making a Competitive scene? It's a niche subset of the player-base that everyone else looks with either mild amusement or outright contempt, it would be a waste of time and money.

  • The issue with trying to make DBD Competitive is that it is a inherently non-competitive game. It is chock full of RNG and has a lot of unbalanced crap in it, not to mention that the "Comp" strategies like tunnelling someone out or pre-dropping every pallet to deny the first down as long as possible are things that the player-base at large mocks people for engaging in

Nobody but the 60 people that actively engage with Comp want to play DBD Competitively, this fact is never going to change

  • Simple answer really, people like winning, they prefer winning with minimal effort, and negativity bias makes the matches where they have to actually try seem worse then they really were

When most Killers encounter a group of Survivors that requires them to “lock in” and actually try, they will claim Killer is stressful

Taking the match I posted complaining about haste-stacking as an example, I got a 4K at 3 gens and literally the only problem I encountered was the 2 people who had Power of Two and Blood Pact, I still won, but the experience required actually trying when most of my matches don’t, this led to the match feeling a lot worse then it actually was, because yeah dealing with two Survivors running at 112% wasn’t fun, but at the end of the day I still won.

So when people say Killer is stressful, I don’t really believe it, it’s usually more a case of one match out of twenty being mildly stressful and the end result was still a 4K anyway

  • Not just Enduring either, Sadako can completely ignore Party Pallets while Demanifested

Thats not how it works. New players should play the ranked mode, not the casual one.

"Casual" is misleading. In every game i played the casual mode is more like a free for all. One time you play against new players, some time against pros and then everything inbetween. That means that this mode benefits good players the most, because they get easier matches.

As new player you want to play ranked, you want to play at the lowest rank against other bad players. You are safe from the good players in the high ranks.

But to be fair we have only a ranked mode right now, a hidden one (MMR). So why doesnt it help? Bc matchmaking time. So i wouldnt have thought i said it ever, but maybe they should fill the low mmr brackets with hidden bots to create a safe environment for new players. It would also deter smurfs bc nobody wants to play against bots.

New players would never so much as attempt to play ranked and if you think a ranking system would protect new players from experienced players then you haven't seen how bad the Smurfing issue in games with a ranked system is

A ranked system does not fix anything, it has never fixed anything, and it never will fix anything, stop suggesting it

Hey everyone, just wanted to share some thoughts after playing Dead by Daylight for around 2000 hours. One thing that really stands out to me is how unfriendly the game is for new players. It's honestly kind of brutal.

I’ve invited several friends to try it out, and pretty much every time they quit after 2 or 3 matches. They die fast, don’t really get what they’re supposed to do, and just feel completely lost. I’m sure a lot of people go through the same thing. The game just doesn’t explain core mechanics well. Stuff like looping, map pressure, or even the idea of wasting the killer’s time to help the team — none of that is taught properly. You either figure it out by watching videos or just by playing a ton.

I see DBD almost like a speedrun: your job is to keep the killer busy while your teammates get things done. But trying to explain that to someone who just downloaded the game? Not easy.

For example: surviving 60 seconds in a chase and going down on the opposite side of the map can be a great play. It buys your team time. But for a new player? That kind of decision-making isn’t intuitive at all.

Honestly, I think the game could be much bigger than it is — all the licensed content, crossovers, etc. It has huge potential. But somehow it still peaks at around 40k players, which feels low for a 9-year-old game of this scale.

    And one last thing:
Even though DBD is considered "casual", I think it would benefit a lot from having separate ranked and casual queues. A ranking system could actually motivate new players to improve and give them a goal to work towards. Right now, getting matched with experienced killers as a newbie just ruins the experience.

Anyway, that’s been my experience over the years. Curious to hear from others —
Do you agree? Have you seen the same things happen with new players?

Completely agree with the idea of revamping the tutorial, completely disagree with the idea of a separate casual and competitive queue

Nobody would play a queue where people have to actually try to win, most people just want to relax and win with minimal effort, ranging from content creators, normal players, and those sweaty players who bring every bit of cheese and overpowered stuff they can to secure a win

The idea that a Competitive queue fixes anything is a patently and demonstrably false one

I don't necessarily disagree that stacking several things in this game can be problematic and should probably not stack, haste being one of them.

But there's a pretty strong push from some very loud parts of the community that are very inconsistent on this.

Before the MFT nerf, people screamed, cried, and ######### themselves with tantrums about how overpowered haste stacking was, and BHVR listened to that by nerfing MfT into oblivion.

But after they nerfed MFT and were rolling out literally "we listened, and haste stacking is too powerful, so we're adjusting the perks and removing attacking across the board", many of those same people screamed, cried, and ######### themselves again to keep it. And BHVR backtracked again.

So at this point, with haste in particular, it's very clear that "it's overpowered. killers should have it but survivors can't" is literally the sentiment. That's not even hyperbole at this point.

I'm of the opinion that haste-stacking in its entirety should be removed

movement speed is always a very touchy thing to balance in pretty much every multiplayer game, Survivors being able to move at 112% with minimal effort and Killers being able to move at Sprint Burst speed with minimal effort is not fun to play against and blatantly overpowered

I genuinely would have been happy if BHVR had just told the community that they have no idea what they're talking about and went ahead with the haste-stacking removal

Taurie probably thought you were cheating too, if her points are anything to go by.

The fact that the game lets you do that sort of thing is a serious problem.

The difference being I'm not running a build that can be very easily confused with cheats

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

I'm not seeing a problem with your screenshot here.

Are you upset that you hit a speed bump while completely steamrolling this team?

Cause this appears to be the classic "sure I hard won the match, but I had to try a little bit, so please nerf the losing team so this outcome is even easier next time".

I am not upset I hit a speed bump
I am upset because I thought I was going up against people that were cheating and the fact that the game lets you run that sort of thing is a serious problem

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

As a side, I love the direction of this post. What started as a fair question about haste stacking has quickly turned into: "What did you do to Taurie, you monster!".

Really goes to show where this community's priorities are

Because why have a discussion about the fact that Survivors can outrun Killers with minimal effort when we can instead make jokes about what happened to the one person I was able to chase normally lmao

  • @Pulsar said:

Brother what did you DO to Taurie???

Down her because the other option was looking for a Meg in the bushes or go up against what I thought at the time were a pair of cheaters

Like what other option did I have

  • What the hell is Lootbag?

  • The god windows in the playroom with the ballpit and the one in the backstage aside, I think the map is overall pretty good from both a design and gameplay perspective

At the very least I haven't loaded into it thinking "Well this is going to be really one-sided" regardless of which killer I'm playing

  • Speaking as someone who had to deal with a Autohaven, Midwich, or Eyrie offering almost every other match prior to the nerf, you're going to have to forgive me for not being sympathetic whatsoever.

They 100% provided a gameplay advantage by virtue of maps being unbalanced and some being heavily favoured to one side, pretending otherwise is wilful ignorance at best.

BHVR didn't go far enough by making them only 20%, they should have been removed in their entirety.

  • The nerf wasn't enough and all it did was change the issue of filling the Bloodweb with things that rigged matches to filling the Bloodweb with completely worthless junk

They should be removed entirely, or turned into Realm Bans instead

  • The hype for a DBD classic mode would die off really, really quickly, old versions of DBD were busted and full of incredibly unfun or flat out overpowered bullshit that got changed for a very good reason

And knowing this community, people would play it for a day, realise infinites, old dead hard, old mettle of man, old nurse, old legion, etc. are back, and then leave because playing against that crap was and would still be infuriating

The game has gotten objectively better with age, going back to a point where the game was less polished, less balanced, and less fun is a bad idea

  • Doom-Guy would be awesome, don’t get me wrong, but it wouldn’t work for DBD for a few reasons

For one, Doom Guy only kills demons, never people

Two, brainwashing him into think the Survivors are demons wouldn’t work, dude is built different and mind-control doesn’t work on him

Three, he killed God, he would 100% try to kill the Entity and in-all likelihood win

Four, ignoring all of that, fitting Doom’s gameplay into DBD would be a balancing nightmare

  • A AI known for making up random crap whenever it feels like and has zero access to DBD’s in-match data should not be how you form your opinion on this game lol

  • @SoGo said:

While I'd love to see it, the visual styles seem to be too clashing.

Considering that BHVR got Kaneki to translate pretty well from 2d drawing to 3d model, I think they can quite easily translate a stylized 3d model into a different stylized 3d model.

  • BHVR should take Map Offerings out of the game entirely, not make more

Each one that gets made is less chance for things people actually want in the Bloodweb like BPS and Addons

  • While it's too early to say for certain, I think he's alright, not S tier like Kaneki or Blight, but definitely not weak either, I'd say he's middle of the road at high B or low A tier

  • I like most of this, except the map offering changes

Like can we please just either remove them or turn them into Realm bans? The changes don’t solve the issue of the offerings being used to rig matches, it just makes them have a chance of being completely useless or rigging a match

  • Knight and Skull Merchant for optimal Survivor blood-boiling

  • Map offerings, bugs, and the ######### autoaim system

I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have been screwed by either a bug or the autoaim eating my lunge or forcing me to hit a rock instead of the survivor right in front of me

    Which is crazy to me...

I've never really understood why people struggle with the box so much... Pinhead Box is really quite easy to play around with a half sensible team... just need someone with the lowest hooks to grab it perioidcally and run to a place with safety nearby to solve it and problem is solved. Either he teleports, in which case you loop him as you would normally, or he doesn't and you either end the chain hunt, or he manually interrupts you... in which case you loop him as you normally would, but with the odd chain to dodge…

I remember getting smashed by Pinhead the first time I played him, but after that I understood his power pretty quick, and barring his nail add-on and some cracked Pinheads with nasty builds, I've been mostly fine with him ever since...

As a Pig main however, I get much more concerned about headtrap timers on Survivor than I do Pinhead boxes... because if the Pig knows her headtrap pattern and a Survivor doesn't pay attention to/understand them, it can put you in some really nasty scenarios...

I get quite scared when I see a good Pig with certain perks/add-ons and I know I'm on a bad trap pattern... or worse, my paste eating thirst Sable teammate insists on getting healed when I know shes on a bad trap pattern. 😶

Most of the people that play DBD are bad at DBD and can’t coordinate for beans, this is why they hate Pinhead’s box

taking in mind how many people actually play this game with the sheer intention to win and how many people actively love scrimming and tournaments, i wholeheartedly disagree. Not to mention that pubs are place of so many "sweats" who'd very much go to another level.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3930603#Comment_3930603

actually it's very fun and actually a balanced way of skill determining due to sheer A team killer vs. B team survivors/B team killer vs. A team survivor being the best way to actually balance all things out.

Ignoring the fact that a 5v5 ranked mode wouldn’t prove skill levels in any way whatsoever by virtue of most people not caring enough to get 4 friends together just to play a alternate game mode, A very loud minority of the player base likes scrimming, the majority of people are either vehemently against it or do not care, Comp players can make as many showcases as they like, the simple fact is that the majority of the playerbase looks at them like they’re a joke, because it is a joke, DBD is a game full of RNG, bad balancing, janky mechanics, bugs, and a lot of other things that make turning this game into a Competitive game a complete meme, people can try, but the fact that most tournaments don’t go anywhere and just have like the same 30 people going up against each other every time shows that most people simply do not give a #########. The player base and developers have demonstrated over, and over, and over, and over, and ######### over again that they don’t care about making this game Competitive

And the reason sweats exist in pubs is simple, they want easy matches against people that are worse then them, they do not want a challenge, they do not want to against people as good as they are, they want to curb stomp casual players using map offerings and every bit of cheese they can use, they wouldn’t join a Comp game mode at all, because then they’d be the ones getting stomped and their egos can’t handle that

People do not care about Comp, people do not want to play Comp, people do not find Comp fun or engaging, appealing to 0.0001% of the playerbase with a mode nobody would play is a stupid endeavour.

Yes, you are reading that correctly, as far as I can tell this isn't a bug, BHVR genuinely wants you to get 800 seconds of aura reading

What's really funny is that this doesn't even give you a full rift tier, only like 75 fragments

  • Ghoul is still top 5 strong

The nerfs just gave him some actual counterplay

  • Considering that the version of Afton we’re getting is FNAF 3 Springtrap, we can guess that Springtrap’s in-game lore is going to take place anywhere from right after he got Springlocked to the FNAF 3 fire

What I predict his lore’s going to be is a retelling of him getting Springlocked, then found by Phone Dude, and then Fazbear’s Fright burns down, with the Entity taking Afton when he has no way out as the building collapses around him

    Nemesis is broken, not PWYF
