Pig could definitely have the shotgun collar as a variation for RBTs. Saw have been letting them do all sorts of cosmetics, so it isn't even a stretch.
I like that.

Well I'm the same, but it's more down to the fact I just haven't got time to complete all the challenges. After this Tome, I'm done with Premium passes.

@Dr_Loomis who says you get to go home? The entity doesn't release survivors when they escape. You just escape to a different trial
Maybe, but if I was trapped in a strange horrific world, I would be hoping that the next exit is the way home, like Quantum Leap.

I bet it's all a charade and Dave's a big softie at heart.
-
If I had been transported to a sinister world with three strangers whilst being hunted by a bloodthirsty killer...then only win would be myself surviving and getting home. 🤷♂️

I was gonna pick Alien...but then spotted Jason.

Did anyone notice Little Brian? Immortalized in stone. Nice nod.

Are you a stealthy survivor by any chance?
As survivor I still haven't worked out how to run the killer on it (Which is a main part of my play-style), as killer it's really hard to see anything.
Nah I got a 4k as Doctor. The map looks very nice but if you are using a killer with a lack of detection perks/powers, you could find it pretty frustrating.

Bugs Bunny lips grade "no".

They came in handy whilst doing the level 3 deplete key challenge 😀

No Mither should pretty much have a built-in Iron Will. If you ‘can’t be mithered’ about having a friggin hole in your chest, why are you bitching and moaning about it?
Also it should not apply Thanatophonia stacks. If I had to make a quick fire idea, Broken status effect should ignore Thanatophobia, but that would buff all Survivor Broken perks and nerf all Killer Broken abilities.
Agreed.

The physical strength argument is redundant. We have Hag, Julie and Susie, etc. The Entity doesn't just plonk people in as-is, it gives them power and strength.
As for the power, Hoffman is just a big dude, he's not really iconic in the same way EVERYONE knows Amanda's scene from Saw.
Amanda allowed them to use a smaller frame to create a stealth/ambush killer which is far and beyond perfect for "the Pig" being represented from the movies.
Her personal connection to the Reverse Bear Traps also make her far more suited to placing them on survivors. Hoffman had no real links to a specific saw trap that could have been used. Yeah, he got an RBT eventually, but Amanda is what made them famous. If we got him, and he ran around using RBTs, people would question why it wasn't Amanda just the same.
Let's not even venture into the area of the discussion where the original few movies had some great mind-######### twists, including Amanda herself, that changed the whole meaning of their movies, where Hoffman's whole run was a just an absolute convoluted mess of trying to one up every other one in the series which mostly just ended up being downright dull, or copied from 2.
I wouldn't say physical strength is redundant. It's a legitimate threat.
I feel the same way regarding Julie and Suzie: not convincing, not threatening. No real power or physically imposing presence. Take away their little knives...what have we got? The Hag looks legitimately terrifying and would could jump on you and rip your throat out. Not to mention she is a supernatural creature who has a teleportation power.
Hoffman is much more than a 'big dude'. Many regard him as the ultimate antagonist in the Saw franchise. He's in a prominent position in society and lives an extraordinary double life. Amanda is remembered as the first revealed apprentice to Jigsaw and her scene introduced the iconic reverse bear trap. The bear trap is iconic. Not Amanda.
Yes, Hoffman was trapped in the reverse bear trap...and he also felt the grisly effect which resulted in a part of his face ripped open. He used his intelligence to overcome a seemingly inescapable trap and survived. He also used the reverse bear trap later to kill Jill. Using the RBT to kill Jigsaw's wife? I would say that's an extremely important part of the overall franchise.
Regarding the quality of the films, that's all down to the opinion of the viewer. I enjoyed all the Saw films and Hoffman is my favourite character.
But at the end of the day, Amanda is in and Hoffman is not. And he's not going to be.

@PigMainClaudette said:
Well, according to my theory about what the Entity is, it makes total sense for it to be Amanda.
SAW lore wise, it also makes a bit more sense. Hoffman's games were still winnable. Was he extremely lethal? Yes. But Amanda was more sadistic and irredeemable. When Kramer was on the verge of death, and getting the equivalent of back-alley brain surgery, with a highly qualified doctor, almost SCREAMING at her to get him to an actual hospital, she basically said "DO IT AND YOU DIE." She had zero remorse, and zero plans to stop just killing people in the name of Jigsaw.
As for licensing, I'm assuming that the SAW movies had not been all released at the time of the SAW chapter, or the licensing being given, so having the already removed Amanda as the killer would have been the easier choice.
Good to see that nobody asked for Kramer, though. Would have hated to go off my nut at someone for suggesting that.
But Hoffman murdered several people outside of the games/tests. His close combat skills were highly effective.
He also had inescapable games and was far more calculating than Amanda.

Quint from Jaws.
Jack Burton from Big Trouble In Little China.
Dr Sam Loomis from Halloween.
Hellraiser chapter.
Friday 13th chapter.
Alien chapter.

I'm on PS4 and I very rarely get to play against a Nurse. Her and Demogogon are not very popular.

I can't describe it through text that well but the time you should start blinding is around when the killer hoists the survivor to their shoulder. As said you can't interrupt animations with a stun, so you need the blind to finish right as the killer regains control of their character.
To get a feel for the timing you could try finding a recent youtube video/stream clip that included a flashlight save and try to get a basic feel for it. It doesn't have to be millisecond perfect as the killer can't look away truly instantly, but if the killer is quick to react it certainly requires precise timing.
https://youtu.be/Rs8dgxby27g?t=56
Here's a video showing an example. It should start playing right at an example of a save, and there's even slow motion right afterwards.
Of course, in an actual match actually being in position to get the save might be harder than the actual save itself, but good luck 😄
@altruistic said:
Gotta time it exactly right.
Takes some practice, but if you can position yourself well it’s not too hard.
Thanks for the info chaps.
-
Completely agree: it should of been Hoffman. Said it many times before.
He was a far more convincing antagonist and as others have noted, a legit badass.
I'm a big Saw fan and Hoffman would of been a much better fit for DBD.
There is even a mention in the Saw series where Amanda is believed to be behind a certain murder, but a detective points out she wouldn't of been strong enough to lift another (slightly heavier) female in to position. That's because she was assisted by Hoffman. If a small woman who's physical state has been damaged through drug abuse, cannot pick up a slim female, how is she meant to hoist up the likes of Jeff and Jane? Or are just putting that down to the 'power of the Entity' making Amanda the DBD equivalent of The Undertaker and his urn?
Hoffman is physically intimidating and also displays moments of glorious murder where he takes out several adversaries in short succession.
Hoffman's fate is also unaccounted for and could have been turned in to an interesting lore in DBD.

At one point they made it so that an early flashlight save would cause the survivor to drop, and it ended up being so easy to do that it was borderline overpowered and these forums were filled to the brim with killer tears. That's why it doesn't work without good timing.
Ok thanks.
I'm a real flashlight novice and have honestly only used them for the Tome challenges.

Well you did it too early then. The killer has to exit the animation and be blinded for the flashlight save to work. L2P, etc etc.
Ok. But it did count with the Tome challenge, so that's fine with me.

Huntress doesn't have a body either
True but the problem with Hag is that combining colours looks really bad.
There is no standard light green DLC Hag heads either. All a bit odd.

@Aven_Fallen said:
Others explained it already, but just out of interest: Did this complete your challenge or did it not count as carrying the survivor?
Yes it counted and I got the challenge.
The Wraith was picking up the survivor, as he got them on his shoulder...I flashed him.
A "Killer Blinded" notification then popped up but he kept hold of the survivor.
-
@DarthRane said:
Have to do it at the end of the pickup animation because it's uninterruptible
@Kwanghyun said:
You can’t drop a survivor if you haven’t even picked them up yet. Blinds and stuns does nothing during the pickup animation. Most people have poor timing so they blind the killer early and it does nothing. Same goes for stuns, but only tards miss that.
Ok cheers.
So they have to be fully for them to drop.
I have never really used flashlights.
-
No Mither.
First of all, turn off the loud injury music.
Improvements.
-Minimal grunting and noise.
-Survival Bloodpoints bonus.
-
I like what Last Year have done with including a new giant spider as a killer in the game's Steam 'relaunch'.
In DBD, a high number of fans are hoping we see Alien included.
-
I'm at level 49 and have spent all the cells I accumulated (brought GhostFace classic body and Tapp's police jacket). I have only two challenges to do (Blind killer when they're holding survivor & rescue during EGC). The rewards in the pass were subpar. I'm not bothering dedicating time for challenges anymore after Tome 1 level 4. I play games too much anyway.

I think most of the "nerfs" were called for but some weren't, like the kicking one was fine as it
Yeah I agree. That was fine. Got that done in under 3 matches.
-
I think a lot of people are doing Rift challenges now...gameplay styles have become very unorthodox.
The basement glitch may also be a factor with some Survivors not wanting to risk falling victim to the white abyss.

I finished Level 3 of Tome 1. Since when was Tome 3 unlocked? :P
Jk jk ,I know what you mean. In all honesty it wasn't as bad as most people think it is. I completed most of the hard challenges before it got changed.
😄There are too many terms...tomes/archives/rifts/challenges/passes/charms.
They should just put:
PASS 1. PARTS 1/2/3/4. UNLOCKABLES.
That would help certified thickos like myself. 😀

I dunno about that, but I've literally let go of generators before, started walking, then hear the skill check noise and then the generator blows up when I'm already a small distance away from the generator. Almost like I missed an Overcharge skill check or something.
Happens a lot when healing too. Will stop healing myself and start sprinting and then I suddenly stab myself in the gut and scream like an entire second later.
Yeah that moving off a gen incident is another great little gem.
-
To fair I also get cheesed off with this game way too much.
At the moment I'm just playing a few matches a day to grind toward the Tome 3 challenges in order to get the remaining serum to complete my second Withering skin.
After that...I'm not buying another premium pass and will decrease my DBD usage.
I enjoy the game, but everything in moderation.

Nice, then everyone has the achievement because of how easy it is to do, especially with Oni. Woohoo! Everybody gets a participation ribbon!
Yep! 😍

Agreed. 4K with the 3 set perks should be enough to gain the achievement.

To be fair, the exclusive is not worth it since a few Chapters. The last one which was kinda special was Kates White Top, afterwards, the difference was REALLY minor.
Oh I agree. The monochrome GhostFace was shoddy and made for him to be less camouflaged.

Soooo i found the solution i was being kinda doofusy but im kinda justified :/
I am playing the game with italian language and i was actually using "presenza inquietante" and not 'inquietante" wich was the right perk... that was kind of confusing... i never used distressing so yeah and it isn't even specific to a killer so i just assumed they where the same thing when i looked up al the perks lol anyway thanks for the help really appreciated :D
No worries. Some folks did get confused by that.
Hope you have it unlocked for one of your killers.
It's a relatively easy challenge. Good luck.
-
Well I'm not buying any more premium passes but that is mainly due to the amount of play-time needed to get a proper return on investment.
After purchase, it feels like you are compelled by a certain pressure to continue grinding, getting those challenges done, unlocking those useless knick-knacks...but for me I can happy go without it all.
The game is alright...in small doses.

I think the challenge is just broken for me i tried even that but still no results :(
I haven't heard on any other players having issues with it. What system are you using? Regardless, I haven't seen any reported problems.
I know some people have used Trapper and got confused with Unnerving Presence. But that's just people being doofuses.
I would just grind on with the chases. You just have to make sure they're extensive chases instead of hits. I'm sure you'll get it eventually. You just have to really dedicate one match to chases.
-
Stick with one survivor...if/when you lose them...quickly find another and do nothing but chase etc. Go to gens, chase the fixers etc.
I did this first time.
-
Would certainly help with the 'Where Did They Go' trophy...
-
One?
Certain players that just spoil the overall experience.

Clown and Wraith have excellent skins.
