My experience was similar.
I also watched streamers doing this same research and both had close to or over 10000 hours.
They had people in their game with 42 hours.
I was the only red rank in almost every one of my matches last night and I had Huntresses who didnt hit me with a hatchet all match, and IM not that good LOL
I had a hag as killer who didnt set a single trap... like wwhat? they are rank 19 with 87 hours and Im red rank with almost 2k hours, they had no chance, I even let one kill me out of sympathy

So by “nobody here,” you didn’t mean this thread?
Dude is trying to derail to get thread locked 100%
He was the one reading minds making insinuations no one was talking about BHVR, we are discussing a legit issue with the game.

So we're just gonna pretend that literally nobody here is talking about BHVR even though they're complaining about DbD's MMR in particular? Alrighty then.
I never say negative things about the devs. I actually state that I believe in them on this forum so for you to assume that just because someone has a complaint about the game that they are speaking negatively about the devs is quite the reach. And seems like attempt to derail the thread about something that no one mentioned except you.
SO I guess you think the game is perfect with no complaints, better not or youre putting down the devs. Get real.

Also "just play and if match feels fair then MM is working" is the most horrible excuse ever.
It's not an excuse, it's how every game with an MMR works, but for some reason only BHVR gets flak for it.
Literally, no one typed the word "BHVR" or said anything negative about the dev team except you bringing that insinuation in h the thread.
We are complaining about the imbalance of matches in regards to experience in the game. You and only you mentioned "BHVR" in the thread.

Hopefully it all gets fixed soon.

I didn't confirm anything, I offered possibilities. I don't know how it works or why it's doing this, I'm just thinking outside the "BHVR incompetent" box. I've been quite explicit in this with the use of phrases like "I think" and "might".
YOu missed the point, or did so on purpose.
If MMR has been running in the background the idea "it needs to stabilize" is false.
People keep saying it takes about 10 games,.... ummm, I played more than 10 games last night alone, and MMR has been running for weeks, so the "it takes time to stabilize" excuse seems like crowd control but not truth.
PS I didnt say anythinjg about BHVR being incompetent, I just dont like the games I am being matched in

Did you read the rest of my comment? Here, I'll quote it for you:
There are other alternatives, which I didn't think about before.
From what I understand, the MMR will kinda toss you between extremes until it figures out where you fit, like trying to guess a number between 1 and 1000 but only knowing if your guess is higher or lower than the number you want. That means newbies will have to play against experienced players for the algorithm to properly determine their skill level. We might just be seeing the result of that, in which case it will stabilize at some point.
So despite being told MMR has been running in the background quietly gathering our rank/skill for some time now (we dont know how long) youre telling me it just randomly throws you in imbalanced matches.
Ok, well at least we know its random as suspected LOL
Anyone who can actually play this game knows the moment youre on a team with zero understanding of the game, and after last night, it was apparent, after having rank 20 killers and survivors who obviously did not know how to play etc,.... you confirmed what we knew, that its random and not working.
-
"If the trials don't seem fair, then MMR might not be working properly."
10000 hours vs 42 hours
I was matched against killers with less than 100 hours and I have almost 2k. Felt bad for them.

The trials don’t seem fair, and it’s not just me and my 10-ish games in each side... watch streamers who play dozens of games each day and the games are still a joke. I’m watching 8k hour killers being matched up against survivors who literally never look behind them. Or camp a pallet, drop it and run without waiting for a break.
Also we don’t “know,” surviving and killing is a big part just because it was before. Especially considering they said the old MM wasn’t a good indicator.
The biggest thing for killer comes down to being nice or playing fair, the old system punished you for quick games but maybe the new MMR rewards you for obliterating the survivors?
Killers like Otz stopped giving hatch yesterday to see if 4king constantly would change his experience because players like him with well over 5000 hours, were getting survs with like 100 hours in the game. I am guessing I will try the same, I was letting survs go last night because they clearly didnt know what they were doing....
I literally saw a player with 10000 hours paired up against/with players with 42 hours.
42 hours vs 10,000
that is broken no matter how you spin it/
-
"They know a large portion of the playerbase would love to be able to grief newbies and/or bad players."
Lines like this make no sense when literally the big complaint is red rank players being matched versus rank 20 killers. Or red rank killers destroying rank 20 survs, come on.
As a red rank, I dont want to play against killers with less than 50 hours. We dont want to play with rank 20s thats the whole point.

MMR has vastly improved my experience. It also helps further an earlier point that the ranking system was not a good measure of talent. There are yellow rankers far better than some purple or red rankers, amd this is starting to show now.
Personally, BHVR have made a genuinely good improvement to the game.
Glad you having good time, however, I didnt even see any yellow or purple. Last night, for hours upon hours I was the only red rank in games full of rank 15-rank 20 and it was terrible. Hoping its better tonight. The game is matching up people like me with 1000s of hours with people with less than 50 hours. There is never going to be a reason to pair people with 9000+ hours with people who have 42, 42 hours.... 42.. ??
That is broken.
-
Last night was horrible, hoping tonight is better, if not gonna take a break until this is fixed.
Its simply not fun to play with people who just installed yesterday. Majority of my games you could tell 2-3 of the players had no idea what they were doing, they definitely did not play like red ranks do, and I was the only red rank in the matches.
-
Last night I was the only red rank surv in all m,y matches, it was horrible
-
My experience last night was horrible, I played for 5 hours yesterday and every single match I was the only red rank being paired with people who did not know how toi play the game.
I mean, they literally were not doing gens, hiding scared, trying to heal while infected by plague, too scared to go for hook saves etc.... absolute terrible experience last night, tried killer, the survs wouldnt even do gens! I literally stopped playing and went play STreets of Rage 4.
No one knew how to play, some had less than 100 hours in the game.

Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be true, I’ve played more than 10 survivor games and the matchmaking has stayed wacky.
Same, I played way more than 10 matches yesterday and all were terrible, not a single fun match.
-
Last night was absolutely a horriblle experience that I had not had since my first day playing the game.
I was the only red rank in every single match I played, for almost 5 hours I got matched up with people who had no idea how to play the game. I mean, they were trying to heal me versing plague when my infection was still climbing, meaning I would be broken status in about 30 seconds but they were healing me. Then cleaning after getting infected.
Every game felt weird and as killer no one was doing gens but hiding like I was versing rank 20s and I was red rank killer.
People with 9000+ hours getting paired with people with 42 hours, 42 !!!!
this is crazy
-
Devs own stats showed SWF is 70% of all matches.
-
I just hit 800 hours in solo surv to match my 1000 hours as killer.
Gives you a good insight into the game from both angles.
-
All they need to do is make Bloody Party STreamers more common, like they were in the past and maybe people wouldnt hoard them.
You can play 5 hours per day and rarely ever see BPS offerings being played before a match.
-
Nope, gonna need you to throw all that away as you click p1 - then p2, then p3....

The challenge I'm doing right now is "unhook 4 survivors in the same trial".
There are only 8 possible unhooks throughout the whole game. It's pretty stupid to ask that one player steal half of those unhooks.
Thats why it is considered a challenge, it's not stupid it just requires you to be more busy than just sitting on a gen. Run a hook diving build and get it.
-
I have never seen anyone who knows how to play Hag say she is trash and needs a rework. On the contrary, the people who know how to play her, always agree she is not only powerful, but strategic and balanced. No one can even name an addon she has that needs work.
It will be a sad day if they ever touch her.
-
Not bannable, do not listen to anything survivor mains say in endgame chat regarding getting you banned. Just ignore them and say GG and move on to next match. Just don't body block them for extended periods, block them in and then hit them.
-
@TheArchivist said:
Is there be a Hag rework in the future? nobody plays this killer and is difficult to actually win, or kill with the Hag. Placing traps doesn't help, because always one has a flashlight in his ass. 3 years nobody played this killer. And when the tome 4 was released, people play her. And learn the truth. She's weak. Very weak.
I am one of those nobodies.
I love Hag. She is the only killer I play when I want to actually PVP.
If you see me in Bunny Legion suit, I am playing for fun.
-
I dont mind DS and think its a cool perk as a survivor despite not running it myself, as killer it tends to annoy me because I get DSed while not even tunneling anyone. So I DO think there should be some changes, for example: if you are healed back to health DS should deactivate, you have not been tunneled at all.
If you start working on a gen, heal someone else etc it should be disabled.
As it stands, people literally get unhooked, you ignore them, they run off get healed, start working on a gen, you find them again, down them and bam get DSed. That is lame and everyone knows it.

Play as you wish shall be the whole of the Law.

When a patch that has nothing do to with sounds, messes up sounds, you cant understand how a patch may randomly affect the brightness of auras in an unrelated way? Are you new here? Lol.
Yeah, auras randomly changed colors to yellow on their own. Altered their intensity/brightness and the contour shape of the assets they highlight.
Yep, "just a simple accident that our quality control team missed,... total mistake btw"
We are the beta testers.

It's nice to know that it'll happen soon. Its a shame this got past the team.
I personally do not think these auras were an accident, and that we are actually the beta testers for the idea to change them as such. The idea that these changes were some accidental quality control mishap doesn't fit into my brain.
-
I was reading the hotfix notes on an unrelated game, an early access game that barely has 1000 players on at a time,.... and saw this. It made me giggle a little...
"If someone disconnects, everyone fails the dungeon. It’s a major feel bad, we’re working on several systems (Bots, namely) to alleviate this."
They are implimenting this before the game even launches. Not saying bots ARE the answer, don't know how I feel about them but it was an LOL for me.
-
We will trade you the 6 second swap for WGLF perk buff?
-
Because the people who complain about NOED do not want to counter it, they just want it removed from the game.
They want to run DS not Detective Hunch
-
There was never any proof or official statement that hackers caused DC penalty, that was just streamers saying it was.
True encountered a known bug that many have experienced and claimed it was a hacker, but no dev ever said it was.

And it's not and unfair advantage that the killer can see survs and their perks and we can't see the killer?
Survivors have been the one cheating, not the other way around.
Killers are being punished for doing nothing, period. If it were the other way around survivors would be crying.
For years survivors have been using apps to block specific killers and using apps to know which killers they were versing.
Killers have NEVER been able to know which perks the surv are running though, see how it works?
Survivors should be locked in as well the moment you click ready, to enter a lobby. This shouldnt even be a debate, the fact it is shows entitlement and bias on the surv side.
-
I am curious what the total cost is if you purchased them all like some do.
-
Content creators who need low-skill players to create content need to get gud.

I want that pink elephant Clown, tbh only the Bunny Legion and Pink Elephant Clown have appealed to me enough to spend money on them.

I know it happens. I just don't think it's a good enough reason to throw out the whole system.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1499262#Comment_1499262
If you only disconnect during an emergency and aren't someone whose job depends on them being somewhere else at random points in time or people die, you'll be fine. The penalties do stack, but if you don't DC for some time, they reset.
"I know it happens. I just don't think it's a good enough reason to throw out the whole system."
Neither do I. Personally, I am all for a DC penalty. I am on record stating it should be longer than 5 mins. However, I am also tech-minded enough to know, the system can tell the difference between a true "DC" like I pull the ethernet cord out, or a game crash, or host disconnect.

That's a bug that should be fixed, but it's not a reason to throw out the whole system. If players hadn't abused disconnections, none of this would be happening, but here we are. Blame the DCers, not the devs.
Not blaming anyone, simply trying to show you that it does indeed happen, at least you admit its a bug.
edit added this: If anything, trying to stop the victim from being blamed for something they didn't have anything to do with.

Yeah you can do that, but realistically how many people are going to cut the power to their home just so they can back out of a video game. Power cuts and internet crashes can happen that have nothing to do with instability. That's the point. These are things that are beyond a player's control, but they are being punished for it.
If people are so adamant to go and kill the power to their home or pull the plug on their wifi just so they can leave a match, then let them go to that effort. Its a far better alternative than punishing those who got booted for reasons beyond their control. Realistically I can't see most people being in a situation where they can consistently kill the wifi or the power without upsetting other people in their home.
Streamers literally get the "disconnected from host" thing while live on twitch and they are still streaming,.... victim blaming the innocent players is just easier on the forums.
When people get this disconnect live on cam while streaming its pretty obvious they did not pull the cord, cut their internet or power etc... its the server host.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1499157#Comment_1499157
You can cut the power/internet connection yourself or force the game to crash. However, if you know your connection is bad or that the power supply in your region is unstable, you should not be playing online video games. Having a stable internet connection is as much of a requirement for online gaming as your GPU or OS.
Ah but you see, when you get "disconnected from host" you can 1. still have power 2. still be logged in the game.
So how did someone cut the power, force game crash, disconnect etc,... and still be logged in the game?
It's happened to me.
You can have a rock solid connection like i do on fiber and still get "disconnected from the match"
Does it happen to me daily/often? No, but does it happen to innocent players? yes.

I guess by that definition, all entertainment is wasteful spending.
It is. As I said, people use the term invesment to describe buying a bigger TV. It is not and never will be an investment.
-
"Could one not state that putting money into something for the joy it could return would also be an investment?"
No, people use this term to describe wasteful spending, but it is not an investment. You aren't investing money, you are spending money with no financial return.
An investment is an asset or item that is purchased with the hope that it will generate income or appreciate in the future."An investment is an asset or item acquired with the goal of generating income or appreciation. In an economic sense, an investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but are used in the future to create wealth."

Some people like a bit more polish from their investment.
For instance, for the past five to six months I've been dealing with micro stutters from the server resyncing and teleporting Survivors away from my attacks.
At first I thought it was just my computer but it would seem the bug has gotten bad enough that it's affecting machines far more powerful than mine. For reference, see Puppers' new Wraith cosmetic video.
Investments return profit, buying things in games is not an investment. ;)
