Yeah I haven't played in over a month. As I predicted, survivor queues are going to get worse and worse because killers are dropping like flies.
My queue times are still roughly the same as always. The amount of players is also still roughly the same on steam.

To which I will ask. Do we really expect the devs (and all the wonderful "proper inplementations" they have had in the past) to actually have made it consider such situations?
Oh, and to answer if I know how games are developed, the answer is yes. I am going for a degree in the computer field and have taken my fair share of classes based around coding in different languages. I am aware how difficult such things are as well.
In my opinion the devs reputation is worse than they actually are. Most of the time when anything changes people go crazy in the forums and badmouth them.
I've heard so many times during the last years that "if you implement X the game will die".
Yet here we are in 2020 with a stable player base ( on steam ). And very positive reviews.
The game has actually steadily improved from what it has been.
And for every person complaining about the changes here hundreds still played and enjoyed the game.
That's why I still trust the devs.
Computer Science.
That is good. Then you should also know that saying "it is not possible" for your future career is something silly to say.
It is very well possible but a legit question is: "Is there enough manpower/time /money to do it properly, fix and maintain it?".

You do realize how naive and stupid that sounds right? That isn't nothing at all, that is a very valid collection of points that probably had 0 consideration in implementing the MMR system because the devs would just slap a quick "fix" on their issues over doing what properly needs done.
Just wait until you get de-ranked by some facecamping bubba and remember this post. It can and will happen.
MMR Systems are different with every specific implementation.
You realise games are not developed by putting together pre defined lego bricks, right?
I played games with bad MMR implementation and also games with amazing MMR implementation.
Concerning your thoughts about disconnecting players, a match is always unfair when one leaves... It has nothing to do with the MMR System. It is not it's job to take care about that...
But some ways of implementing it also consider it in the evaluation of the match.

League of Legends is known to have one of the most toxic communities (and I lost a majority of my brain cells when I played) and is still going strong. League of Legends and Riot is too big to fail.
BHVR and Dead by Daylight is too big to fail.
Well the peak of League Toxicity was around 2016.
Even in higher ranks people just kept being toxic and harassing. But Riot at one point implemented changes like the honor system and stricter bans to fight it.
It got a lot better since then. Though people slowly stop playing it nonetheless.
Team fight tactics was a smart move. But nonetheless it can not sustain the player base. That is why they are working on a new game now.

"I play on PS4".
My condolences.
-
That people would need something like that in the first place is pathetic enough and says a lot about the game.
-
These days a lot of players in online games are kids. That's pretty much the entire explanation. Often their parents don't even care and just put a computer or console in their room. Often even with their own bank accounts with pocket money....
-
Toxic is bug using, griefing, cheating or insulting.
The way a person plays apart from that can not be toxic.
It is in the boundaries of the possibilities the game offers.

Let survivors escape just to be "nice". Like any survivor would run to the killer and give up just to help them 😄
I did that once because the killer was low in rank and got completely fooled.
But I masked it a bit to make it not too obvious.
Dumbest thing as killer was one with huntress to not down a survivor with a melee attack when I had the chance because I wanted to go for a hatchet throw and realised too late that I ran out of hatches.
He unhooked the other last survivor and they escaped through the hatch...

I wouldn't be sad if all the killers crying about Ruin left. One little change makes them flip on the people who have been carefully listening to them before, they even broke matchmaking for them! Now that devs are going back to spreading their love they are accused of bias and instantly hated. Good riddance to those that have lost faith in the devs.
Exactly. I think most killer problems recently are coming from being in the wrong rank in the first place. If one small change destroys you so much then you must be doing something wrong. I did not feel the impact of the ruin nerf because I never used ruin in the first place. No matter which killer. So it is possible to play without Ruin.
Could the game be balanced better? Sure. Every multiplayer game could be, because perfect balance does not exist in the first place, unless you give all players the exact same possibilities. Like in chess.
Is the balance in DbD as bad as many people claim it to be? Skill wise recently yes. Game wise no.
I am not saying killer players complain more than survivor players in general, but I think it depends on the patch changes of course.
The matchmaking though is sometimes weird and kind of broken recently. A problem that hopefully will be solved soon.
Most of the stuff mentioned in the initial post is weird and in my opinion based on the complain echo chamber of the forums, not the actual game.
To call certain playstyles, no matter if killer or survivor, "toxic" is ridiculous. You can use the possibilities the game is offering you without being "toxic". Toxic behavior is griefing, cheating, bug using or insulting others in every other MP game except in the DbD-Forum's weird community. Here toxic means just playing the game in a way some players personally don't really like? Don't you guys feel slightly pathetic about this?
As a matter of fact I have never experienced a more self entitled, ego maniac, vulnerable community than the cry bubble here in the forums.
What nobody here gets is that the majority of players are OK with the game. Only few people who are OK with how things are going will create a forum account in the first place, except if they have very specific topics to talk about. On the other hand people who are not satisfied are always quick to cry and complain especially in the modern world.
Also people saying that the game would die is pretty much just their hatred and infantile thoughts showing.
On Steam (PC) Reviews are still very positive, and the amount of players has been stable and not declining according to Steam statistics. Recent user reviews of the last 30 days have even gone up from 80% to 85% positive.
If you look at some recent reviews that state which role they prefer the positive reviews are coming from all sorts of players, no matter the preference if there is any and it is not 50/50.
Many people in western countries these days seem to be very fragile and at the same time seem to show signs that they need to have a lot of instant gratification success, no matter how meaningful or deserved it is in order to keep mentally stable.
If not they go crazy and start showing signs of depressed, hostile and desperate behaviour.
I am pretty sure that DbD Forum syndrome is coming from that.

Exactly. I see no reason to hide it.
I actually kind of believe all the conspiracy theorists when they say they are "hiding" the skill rating because it doesn't exist, and they are simply going to open up matchmaking to everyone for quicker matches, and that this whole thing is an elaborate excuse to do the rank hiding thing to blanket it like they wanted to before according to the leaked 3.5.0 patch notes.
But in that case games would just be horrible and I think it would be very obvious despite hiding it.
No statement about why they are not showing it? Like maybe they don't want the killer to know and already focus specific weaker survivors in early game?

"Again" what?
They literally said in the notes that it will be hidden. Verbatim, that is what they said. They called it a "hidden skill rating". Literally.
Maybe you should read the announcement again?
Then that is pretty bad. I did not catch that from what I had read about it so far.
I can imagine though that an MMR that maybe goes up to let's say 1000 is more accurate than ranks 20 to 1 because even in red you get people with or against you who are not playing well.
But yea without displaying it, it is a bit harder to check if it is performing as it should.

Why hide something that is used for match making? Like they are doing with their MMR?
Again, as far as I understood the changes, the MMR will be shown.
And as far as that is also correct the rank will not be used anymore for matchmaking as soon as it is not shown anymore and merely be a prestige thing.

Yes because why Show something that is not used for match making anymore?
I don't know how the MMR thing will turn out but I hope it will match more accurately.

its only for shut people up about bad matchmaking... like im ok with ranking system, but real cancer of this game in balance wise is swf.
Oh man. These 3 percent SWF groups....
Such a huge problem.
Just because survivors are put into the lobby simultaneously no longer means it is SWF...

You can see it.
It's highley possible if:
-They all joining to the same time and show a similar skillset and have a similar behavior.
-You see them always in the lobby with the other people they have last time played.
-They are all on the same rank (+/- 1) and or have one rank 20-18 in it (you know, baby survivor caring so that he comes fast up to rank 1, only to face then rank 1 killers directly... I guess).
If one or more of those points happen, you have either face a swf, or face one at the moment.
As far as I know the "all joining at the same time" thing is not accurate anymore. I think I read that for some months now the matchmaking works differently and first puts as many survivors together as possible before pushing them into a lobby with the killer?
Also the official statistics they released at one point showed that SWF teams are quite rare.
So I'm unsure about all these SWF statements that people keep bringing up.

As opposed to what? Camping survivors or tunneling survivors? Is that fun for you? For them? Does that make you think you're good, does it help you improve? Being fair and fun for a lot of killers was trying to hook everyone 12 times. Generally speaking that is fun for everyone because everyone will walk away with a lot of points and pip, and it isn't unfun. I'm not going to pound gens if I know a killer plays like this. Killers can't really do that anymore because Ruin generally gave them the little boost to get pressure rolling. In fact killers who play like that now are more likely to play more unfair because they simply have to.
If you don't think that fair killers exist or you disagree with that then that's fine. There's nothing wrong with playing how you want to play or doing those things to win.But if your goal is to play unfairly, then you'll never improve and you're probably going to be stuck being a below average killer at best
Complete bollocks.
A win is a win. And if it is still effective in high ranks it means it is working.
Simple as that. It is not "toxic".
It is not "unfair".
It is all within the rules and possibilities of the game without any CHEATS, BUGS or HACKS, which would be unfair or toxic...
It also does not mean stagnation skill wise. You assume that to tell yourself that people who play in a more aggressive way you don't like are somehow lesser or unskilled.
Which is not the case.
On the other hand survivors do everything to survive. That's OK too. I never complained about a group key escape or anything like that. And "gen rushing" is pretty much survivors doing their objectives...

And I agree with the sentiment "don't rely on it" because you shouldn't. Old ruin would't do everything for you, it only worked if you had skill. Clearly you didn't.
In high ranks yes.
In low ranks, in which the majority of the player base is, it was nothing that had anything to do with skill.
Most of the time it was a safe 3k for the killer. Which is pretty much the reason why they changed it.

Your problem is you don't understand how valuable Ruin only even lasting 30-60 seconds could be. It was enough time for you to set up a bit, it was enough time to apply pressure, it could've been enough time to catch someone off and hook them. It was invaluable for fair killers to play fair. It's the complete opposite to a crutch for those killers, and a bad killer is still a bad killer with old Ruin.
The idea that killers just need to "get good" and "not use a crutch" or "apply new tactics" just shows you don't know as much about this game as you probably think.
"fair killers" should not exist...
You want the killers to grab a bag of chips and watch soccer with the survivors?

I see. Well, there are a few problems when we compare what you want with what you get: you want to kill more than two survivors, get a lot of bloodpoints and don't sweat, which I would translate to play chill.
The problem here is that you are also high rank because of the killers you play, but apparently your skill currently doesnn't match your rank, meaning that survivors are stronger than you at looping and making you waste time. What I would suggest is to switch up killer, take your time in learning it without caring too much on the outcome of the match. In fact, you should probably be happier if you de-rank while you learn those new killers (maybe use Trapper, it can be very interesting and at the same time it's very easy to mess up).
You will eventually end up in a rank that's better suited for you, and hopefully match making will not screw with you too much (until it is patched out, that is). From there you should be able to have games that are more on your skill level, get more interactions with survivors and bloodpoints.
I'm saying this because at high ranks the game is supposed to be hard, which you see as sweaty though, so it's obviously not where you want to be, and it wouldn't be fair for the players which want to have competitive matches to ask for the game to become easier.
Amen.

Do you know what happens when the veteran killers leave because why would they bother playing a game that's not balanced for them, isn't fun, and is intentionally catered to a more casual audience.
They leave.
Then survivors wait 10~15 minutes for a queue, then this happens and the game is over in 5 minutes:
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/168/Z001R3FSA9UI.png
Do you know what happens when new and casual killers leave because they're being constantly matched up against veteran survivor players, have absolutely no chance of winning?
They leave.
Can you guess what will happen next?
After you answer that yourself, ask yourself this: Do you think the casuals are going to stick around and buy things in a game where they can't get into matches because nobody wants to play killer because, surprise, the role sucks to play?
Believe me, I know it's a move for money. The issue is that it's a ridiculously short-sighted andf stupid plan and the veteran players are not stupid, they can smell this a mile away (you can even read the language in the developer notes -- it's literally plastered with survivor bias and that's not just opinion, you can read it yourself) and it's going to backfire spectacularly in the long run if they go through with it.
You keep making the same logic mistakes in your argument.
The game is balanced around the lower ranks. They are the majority. They are not connected to the higher ranks.
That the matchmaking is kind of malfunctioning at the moment is a known problem. The devs state so themselves. It is a complete seperate issue from what we talked about earlier. Completely different argument. Low ranks need to be matched with low ranks, high ranks with high ranks.
Believe me, this is not happening because of a lack of casual players.

How am I distorting reality?
I'm not talking about just high ranks. I'm talking about the game in general. Gens can and usually will be done in under 6 or 5 minutes, especially in high ranks. That shouldn't happen.
As I literally said, I agree Ruin should be changed so it doesn't impact low ranks, but gutting Ruin without addressing why it was ran in the first place (spoiler: it wasn't because of gate keeper emblem) is the same as ripping off a band-aid without the wound being healed.
Congratulations, you ripped off the band-aid. Now you are bleeding again.
You're complaining that games are too hard for new players to deal with. But without ruin, games are too hard for even veterans to deal with.
Shifting the problem around does not fix the problem.
Solving one problem while creating two more problems does not solve anything.
If you really want to see videos of low ranks gen rushing by the way, go look yourself. They're out there. It's not my responsibility to prove or educate you on an obvious fact that gens don't take very long to complete.
Thank you for quoting my response. It got deleted while editing on mobile.
First of all, dont make it an "US VERSUS THEM" thing. I am not seeing things survivor or killer biased. I see a problem in balancing different skill levels for everybody effectively.
Again you take the argument into higher ranks. You obviously did not read all my previous posts.
The current stance is that the game will be less well balanced for the higher ranks.
It is a money thing and it is well understandable. Of course it is not admitted openly.
Oh yes out of the countless players there are a handful of videos in which they succesffully repair gens fastly and escape. You think that is the norm in lower ranks? I play with lower rank friends, let me tell you it is not. They are also playing Killer, by the way.
I do not think that the main issue is gen times, more so a complex cluster problem out of gen times, map layout, huge difference in different killer gameplay, different platforms, etc.
"Shifting the problem around does not fix the problem."
"Solving one problem while creating two more problems does not solve anything."
Exactly! But at the moment the problem affects less people in higher ranks (because numbers), than in lower ranks. That is why it is biased towards lower ranks. They are more!
"You're complaining that games are too hard for new players to deal with"
No! Not only new players! Read my earlier posts! Casual does not mean exclusively new.
Stop thinking BHVR are incompetent. They are not. But they need money and can not risk losing most of their low rank player base.
And I am very sure they are trying to make things at least better for everybody, while they are applying band aids.
You know what could have a really good balance within economic doability?
Dbd2...

So your friends don't like dealing with Ruin?
Guess what, neither do killers like dealing with their gens being popped in 4 minutes.
Killers need to have fun too. Not just your survivor friends. They do know that the killer player is not an AI opponent and that the killer's fun also matters as well, right?
I agree -- Ruin should be changed to be better for new players and not be practically a requirement to bring. However, just nerfing the perk with no fix to the actual problem to why Ruin was ran so often in the first place ain't it, chief.
Dude, my freaking dude. Show me the low rank survivors without skill who pop gens in 4 minutes.
Again you are distorting the reality.
You are taking about higher ranks.
Show me the survivors who loop or gen rush successfully in low ranks...
Ruin was used so often because the game is not balanced and can not be balanced for everybody on the same way.
It is an asynchronous game that gets even more difficult to balance with differences in skill.
And let's not even talk about SWF.
Another thing that is not balanced but needed.

You're basing your entire arugment on most people not even trying to get better and just play like potatoes therefore we should balance it for potatoes we shouldn't even try to increase skills according to you
Yes be my guest and achieve that. Increase casual payer's skill in a game with no esport potential. With most people who do not even want to play competitively.
Friends of mine for example play DbD exactly like that. They go into a game and they don't even care if they survive. For them the thrill and maybe tiny and very slow progression is enough.
And escaping only sometimes is OK for them. They enjoy the game already.
Despite that, RUIN literally ruined their fun and made them stop playing at one point. Because they were not able to complete a single generator anymore. Even for casuals there is a limit of tolerance.
Now you would think "But Dante, then they will finally want to get better!"
Yes as much as most teenagers want to excel at maths when they get mediocre grades instead of having fun. That's why we are all engineers and scientists.
When I offered them some tips they told me no, they only play it for fun.
And believe it or not, most people play games for casual fun, even in games that are designed to be competitive.
You know why that is ok? Because without them buying a lot of skins or hats or outfits or whatever to increase their casual fun and smile and their money, games like DbD would not even exist, at least not for long.
Many investors and industry names judged DbD in the beginning as not being doable well because of the entire concept and asynchronous nature. And I know many of you can't accept that, because you are busy being micro butthurt all the time and you lack knowledge of business and game design, but BHVR did a damn good job. And the casual players made the game a success.
I mean, again, if you can achieve the change, go for it!
I'd love that. Re educate them.
So what is your strategy? How will you build enough force to do that?
Building a community with enough significance to push the message?
Make excelling at DbD sexy for casual players?
What will you offer them in return? They are already having fun and if it stops, they will just go to a different game.
Your strategy is literally serving overpriced lobster, cooked by Gordon Ramsey, inside of a McDonald's.
Good Luck with that!

Maybe you should try to truly read a post before answering? Is English a language you can handle?
Most people will barely increase their skill. These days most people play casually. I told you so in my first comment. Which you obviously did not bother reading well.
In every competitive game the lower ranks will be the majority for the entire time of the game's existence.

Also I guess no game should ever do competitive because it won't be as big as lol or DotA huh see how that doesn't makes sense
Again you did not read or even partially understand what I said.
I said that it makes utterly no sense to balance a game around a fracture of it's player base that generates little to no money...
In the games I mentioned it was possible because they (the high ranks) were generating money and because of esport events they were able to be strong role models for the player base. Bad balancing in their favour was therefor forgiven.
DbD can never do this. Solely because of it's asynchronous nature. Therefor it can never be balanced around the high ranks.
Really cool to fast read a post for 2 or 3 buzzwords and then ######### post.
-
God, listen to yourselves you unbearable crybabies.
The game is balanced around lower ranks, because those are the majority of the player base. And big shocker, game devs need to eat.
DbD is insanely difficult to balance for everybody. You should not expect perfect balance.
DbD is not League of Legends or Dota 2 or Counter Strike. That is why they won't exclusively balance it for high ranks. You guys are not filling entire stadiums with people, driving a community to improve their skill and play strongly competitive.
And even if it would be so, you need to understand that many people will stay low in skill. There are people in all games who will always stay low ranks. They still need to be considered. And often they are the majority. Without them there would not be a game. You want the competitive games to die and go play SIMS you wankers?
Truth is in low ranks ruin needed a nerf, while it was fine in high ranks... In low ranks ruin was almost a game ender.
This is everything but perfect. But reviewing the game bad because of a nerf? Jesus...
I play DbD very rarely these days. Because of one reason.
THE COMMUNITY IS DISGUSTING AND UNBEARABLE!

Balancing around unskilled gameplay rather than optimal gameplay is a fool's errand. Sure, for those that haven't progressed high enough along the skill curve, killer is far more powerful. But balancing around new players is like saying there's no need to wear protective gear in sports because the 8 year olds who are playing it don't hit that hard.
While it's perfectly sensible to make changes that remove the stress on new players, it becomes the opposite of sensible if it only further destroys the balance at higher levels of gameplay. If you were honestly capable of understanding the issue, you would realize that's where fixing the gen rush issue comes from. Players didn't want to rely on Ruin, they were forced to unless they wanted to engage in even more hated gameplay in order to stand a chance.
It is not only new players. Majority is in lower ranks with low skill. The people complaining here do not understand that.
They NEED to balance it for the majority. That is where the money comes from.
It makes no sense to balance the game around the elite in DbD.
This is not League of legends. There are no professional esport events filling entire stadiums and hyping a community towards high skilled gameplay.

Okay here’s a long as hell rant that I’m probably gonna make a separate post because I’m sick of this crap.
It’s funny because some Killers are using the nerf as an excuse to make the game miserable for Survivors (or at least attempting to) which is totally moronic and just shows that they really did want to camp/tunnel/slug/mori the entire time but never did because 1. It didn’t work or 2. It was frowned upon and now they’re just doing it because they want to have a hissy fit because their oh so precious crutch perk was changed. Even when they complained that “it got destroyed instantly anyway” meaning it was ACTUALLY a useless perk for them in that instance and that they wasted a perk slot. What sad human beings indeed, that try to have it both ways.
But makes no difference to me. As Survivor, I’ll just have some combination of Unbreakable, No Mither, Kindred, DS, etc maybe even make use of Slippery Meat and the several dozen Salty Lips I have to just unhook in campers faces. Maybe take brand new part and Engineers TB- Oh wait, no I won’t bring stupid items like that because it makes the game unfun for me and literally makes the game so fast that I don’t pip and thus I just wasted my life.
And what of Killer (that I actually recently find fun after having to do 3 Rituals for them)? I’ll just continue playing as Level 1 Killers with 1 perk and no addons and still get 3 or 4k’s against purple and red Ranks who do actually know how to loops pretty damn good whilst I’m in green ranks because matchmaking is busted.
And this is me not being a veteran Killer, mind you, and yet I’m still getting more kills than the “balance” kill and escape 2:2 ratio and yet Killers cry Survivor biased imbalance whilst bringing moris which rob survivors of a base game mechanic of having to be hooked 3 times to die, and thus getting an easy 4K with minimum effort.
But don’t get me wrong, I’m no survivor biased idiot who doesn’t think there are instances where Killers don’t get any hooks, much less any kills. Map layout RNG and pallet RNG can be broken as hell which is made better, or usually worse, depending on the Killer you pick and what tier they are. And while the RNGs usually favor Survivors, they can completely screw them as well. Keys are chance based on if you can find the hatch, but if you do then “haha Killer’s hard work was wasted.
This game will NEVER be balanced. Anyone who says differently if selling something.
It is physically IMPOSSIBLE to balance this game because of how it’s designed, not only because of the RNG (though that is a big factor) Survivors are severely, and I mean SEVERELY limited by their teammates. Just one “potato” teammate can easily make the game an instant loss for their team, while the Killer has no one else but themselves to rely on. Nothing can be done to the game itself to make survivors not potatoes. There is also the matter of perks and addons for Survivors and Killers alike that are impossible to predict ahead of time and so the Killer or Survivor might not have the best perk load out against that certain build, and thus their game could be lost before it has begun (but like I said even with 1 perk I can still get 3-4ks as Killer, same with with Survivor). This means that the game also relies too much on chance (not just RNG chance) to every be able to be balanced.
This game is unbalanced towards both Killers and Survivors, but the scale can be tipped given the certain situation.
The people who rant about balance or changes are a tiny psychopathic narcissistic minority.
They spam the forums and act crazy.
The game is balanced around the middle ranks, non SWF. Because that is the vast majority of player base and income.
They should start to just accept that. And they should stop acting like this is an esports game and they would be professional gamers...

Killers are not played by A.I.s or people paid to be there for the enjoyment of survivors. They are people who bought your game, the DLCs, cosmetics, and rift pass. Perhaps it might be a good idea to view balance chances from their perspective as well.
In low ranks the game is balanced pretty well. And that is the majority of the player base.
-
Well the nerf is good for lower rank survivors who often got stomped and which is the majority of the player base...

"Survivors are matched to a Killer as close to their rank as possible. If the Survivor is playing with a group, the highest ranked Survivor’s rank will be used for matchmaking purposes. (e.g. If a rank 1 and rank 10 Survivor are playing together, the game will search for a rank 1 Killer.) If a match of the same rank is not available, the system will gradually expand the acceptable range until it finds a match. This has a hard limit of 6 ranks above or below your rank. "
Its been nonstop games passed few days versus full red rank SWFs.. this is the 6th game in a row with 2+ rank 3+s in the game.
Yes it is currently broken. But I don't think it is always SWF you are facing.
Official statistics they released once showed that across all platforms full team SWF was around 4%.

Lies and Heresy. Dishonor on your cow!
Well the devs released statistics once and back then the bar of 4 man premade SWF and 3 man premade SWF was pretty low, around 3 to 5 percent... I can search for it when I'm home.

Lmao this is not a casual game.
Oh, so there are professional players earning their money in tournaments? Filling entire stadiums with viewers during esport events?
Oh, no?
Well then it is per definition a casual game... LMAO.

I want the devs to play their own game from midnight to 2am (PST so 3am to 5am their time) and stream it so we can all see them get STOMPED by all the SWF teams who are awake on the other side of the world so then they can finally understand our pain.
SWF Teams are rare. It is between 3 and 5 percent and also different regarding region and platform.
The only reason why people these days think that there are so many SWF teams around, is that with the new matchmaking the survivors are already in the lobby most of the time when the killer joins.
-
Stop crying... It is not toxic to use game mechanisms... The DbD community is a joke and takes a casual game way too seriously.
-
That's why I stopped playing solo.

rare occasions that a killer messages a survivor. I never message a survivor. I am the one who gets my inbox flooded on Xbox after a match. Regardless if I won or lost.
Yes of course you know every killer in the game. I forgot.

Possibly, but the problem isn’t just SWF’s. It’s a majority of Survivors period. They want wins handed to them on silver platters, they don’t want to work hard to play the game well. Honestly, I enjoy playing against sweaty SWF’s a lot more than the general populous, because at least then I know the direction the game is going to go in. And generally speaking, the sweaties aren’t the toxic ones, it’s everyone else. It’s why I get on DBD just to screw around and don’t really care anymore. I care about Identity V, I care about that community, I care about climbing to the pinnacle of my play there. Here, I can’t anymore. The Devs made it clear they only care about the money, so they appease the larger player base (aka survivors) to get the most money. Why do you think they gave us the middle finger about Legion cosmetics being singular for one of the four, maybe two of the four? Because they don’t care about us. Even though they could make a metric ton of money if they added Rave Susie and Julie, Day of the Dead Frank, ect. They won’t, because they can put more work into 7 Survivor Sweaters for Christmas, and only 2 Killer Sweaters, give Dwight fancy menu sounds with Elf suit, because that’s where the money is.
Again, Survivors, just kill this game faster. Tell the devs Adrenaline needs a buff so they give it Endurance, exposed blocking, and have them throw on permanent aura hiding as well, just as an added FU to the killers. They’ll do it if you also give them a great suggestion for another 10-12 dollar cosmetic that could be super popular and earn them the dough.
Dude... It is literally both sides... I had so many killers adding me in steam as friend just to flame me after a match...
And they were also expecting I would jump onto a hook willingly...

I’m the OP of the post “Killers and Tunneling” worth a read to understand my title.
Anyways a little rant:
i take back all I said about Killers and Tunneling. Survivors are literally beyond toxic in this game. Playing against red rank SWF is the most annoying thing about this game. I would rather encounter a tunneling or hook camping killer than continue to be queue’d with the survivors I have been lately.
My Experiences go like this:
- Join Lobby.
- 4 survivors queue in
- no toolbox; so, no suspected “gen-rush”
- match starts
- I encounter a stray Feng, who’s just running in circles
- She Sprint Bursts as I approach, leaving me confused, but I’ve seen this before.
- Chase ensues and I land a hit.
- Another Feng runs by and scrambles the scratch marks.
- I hit her. Down her. Hook her.
- The other self-cares.
- I walk away. BOOM!
- unhook.
- I run back and hit the Feng that unhooked.
- The other comes by and scrambles the marks.
- 1 gen done.
- I get looped by two Fengs, I drop the chase and go check gens.
- Chase a Claudette.
- Down her. Hook her.
- Instant unhook. Followed by body blocks. (Fengs of course)
- *fast forward*
- 1 gen remains. All totems on map destroyed so no hope for NoED.
- I patrol the last 4 gens in a line.
- Of course, both Fengs continue to gen tap trying to bait me into a chase.
- I don’t chase as I’m already annoyed by them.
- Last gen finished. I down the Claudette at the gate (death hook)
- Both Fengs start a chase. I down one, hook her.
- i camp, because...
- gates open. Feng unhooks Feng and attempts a body block.
- I down the injured Feng after a failed DH at the Exit Gate.
- BAM DECISIVE ######### STRIKE
- They proceed to T-Bag at the exit.
- The other survivor across the map at the other exit gate proceeds to spam vaults or whatever
- Finally leaves after I don’t come.
End of Match:
matchmaking logic:
Rank 2 Survivor
Rank 2 Survivor
Rank 1 Survivor
Rank 2 Survivor
Rank 6 now 7 Killer (I’ve de-ranked 3 ranks now, which I’m fine with as long as I eventually get placed with survivors trying to enjoy the game and not be toxic.)
4 Man SWF is very rare... Around 5% throughout all platforms. The only reason why people think it is otherwise is the changes to the matchmaking system which often collects all 4 solo survivors before the killers enter the lobby.

High rank SWF is the easiest and single most powerful thing in this entire video game. Voicecomms and knowing everyone's loudout and playstyle is a giant massive buff, with absolutely no downside whatsoever. Its like stacking the 2 old range add-ons for Nurse (Omegablink). And ontop of that, it takes absolutely zero skill to gain those buffs.
Voice comm should have been there for solo from the beginning so that they could've balanced both modes accordingly.
I agree on that. And yes the high rank SWF are powerful. But they are also very very very rare.
In addition the game is not balanced around the highest or lowest ranks but around the majority of players which is somewhere in the middle.

Does the number in a SwF really matter? The point still stands. There is no need for any size SwF groups to go on like they do. I could care less if there was only 1 single SwF group in existence, any that act toxic in any way, or send abusive messages post-matches, should not be playing this game. It ruins the games community as a whole. I just want to play a game for fun and enjoyment, not to be sent abusive messages after they lost a match, or when they decide to be sore winners about it
Yes and you can report that behaviour... I met so many toxic solo survivors.... It is not exclusively SWF.
The numbers matter too. It is always bad when people are toxic you are correct. But there is no such Armageddon like toxic SWF epidemic as many want to make it look like.
