Hi Guys , after the last update got to be honest the game really aren't fun anymore for survivors every game feels like "World Champ" and the sweat that you need to pull ( only with a swif otherwise you don't have a chance to escape) either one of the surv are gets tunneled because of DS nerf or disconnections.

will like to hear you thoughts.

I don't think, that the game is dying.

But it goes the same way as Deathgarden. The concept is ok, but it doesn't allow any flexibility. In my eyes, the devs can only adjust variables and the look. But the actual gameplay is set in stone from my point of view. And that quickly becomes boring with an imbalance of skills.

With Deathgarden, it was intense. If a Hunter player had dominated the game, you almost never had a chance.

The biggest advantage in Deathgarden was the flexible movement. You could move in three axes. In DBD, there are only two. Much too rigid.

Sometimes I think that the game characters drive around the map in wheelchairs.

  • Hey.

    Meal time. :-)

So recently I played like 6 matches as a killer (3 nurse, 2 hag and 1 sadako)... And from each of this match, I've had people DC, afk (giving up) after 3 gen pops. I suppouse soloq only. And I swear, it's getting so ridiculous.

    That's your opinion.

In some of this matches, they were ragequitting and afking even when I was actually losing, and I'm not kidding.

Facing the wrong killer or being incompatible with your way of playing...

It was a match with hag, the match for me was awful, maybe the worst possible scenario (who playing hag, knows...) the only thing why I won this match, it's coz 1 guy just DC'd after I (somehow) downed him.

    Perhaps it was boring...

    What is happening with survivors?

They still try to have some fun.

What is the point of even getting into the match, if you know you're going to dc or ######### on hook?

Wrong question! You think too short.

Are they hoping to get a "baby killer" to go against? Are they protesting the changes that way? If so, I don't think it's a smart way.

They still try to have some fun.

I also looked up some Youtube vids to see how some survivors playing soloq, and they're mad. Don't get me wrong, they're mad on their teammates, ruining the game, killing themselves on hooks and denying to play.

The same cliché over and over again. It's a game. And in a game you can give up! Even rulebooks posted in forums do not change this fact! The words "game", "win", "lose", "give up" are inextricably linked, even in team games.

I looked up more, and I've seen more people just ragequitting in a 100% winnable match. The killer 100% will lose this match, and they still DC or K themselves on hooks...

    And what's the problem there?!

Dear survivors, what is going on? What are you exactly want to achieve like this?

They still try to have some fun. Sorry. We're are all humans. We all have feelings. And in the end, we are all egoists.

    Funny, isn't it?

  • I never will solo do a gen again.

90 seconds is boring and way too risky.

So was Ähnliches hatte ich mal gesehen in etwas anderer Form:

    https://steamcharts.com/app/381210#All

    gegen Top Survivor gespielt !

    Was ich damit sagen will:

Any other game I've ever seen or played that has the mechanics or communication to be toxic to other players has always had some sort of repercussions if it was taken too far, not dead by daylight though where the player base is essentially coaxed into being toxic to each other in both roles. This is enabled and promoted by the developers by the lack of any punishments dealt to perpetrators of such behavior. I've never seen someone actually banned from violating the "rules," whether that being through toxic gameplay or hate speech. By the devs doing nothing against in the face of these issues they are announcing that it's acceptable behavior which further promotes it to run rampant throughout the community.

Solo que is nothing but killers griefing players who have no answers to it because of the lack of skill and game knowledge to mount a defense so they are completely taken advantage of as the killers intentionally queing up with this mindset get some sick sense of satisfaction that they are ruining these players games.

Then you have survivors who manage to acquire the skill to compete with killers having the option to be toxic themselves and get away with it, commonly seen in swf's who take full advantage of the survivor sided aspect of the game. Now you have killers that are at the mercy of survivors who through sheer numbers and coordination completely change the face of the game to their favor.

It's entirely common to see both roles speaking to each other disrespectfully in the post game chat as this is the only real outlet and sense of justice in the game when reports result in no actions taken. Why wouldn't players grief others when they can get away with it scott free?

I really don't know what goes on behind the scenes that motivates the devs to allow their game to remain in its current state but as a player it's very demoralizing to play and discouraging to even load up anymore. To que up I essentially have to go in with the attitude of expecting toxicity from either side and adjust my loadout and playstyle accordingly. I feel that this betrays the spirit of the game and is truly a tragedy for a game as fun and innovative as dbd.

    Your Daily Philosopher says:

I think "toxicity" and "morality" are two horns of the same goat. Definitions exist for both, and they are claimed to be universally valid. Subjectively, these, as well as other subjective interpretations of the words may be correct. For others, such an interpretation is at most tenable, if not wrong and rarely right, unless it fits well at that moment.

O Lord! Please don't let me make #########!

    Amen!

What is worse than a sore loser? A sore winner. As Killer you can't do anything to stop them from leaving. In a few cases the overestimate and get caught, but that good feeling does not erase the other times when they just tease you.

I read many times, that you can just ignore it or don't go to the exit gates. If ignoring it would help, there would not be daily complains about it. And if you don't go to the exit gates, you have to stand somewhere waiting until they leave, a complete time waste.

I am proposing to change that, so you can't crouch at the exit gates and in an area around it, because everybody knows, survivor will just find a way to exploit it.

Nobody would be harmed. It has only positive aspects.

Ich glaube den Thread hatte ich gefeiert. Ich fand die Idee voll klasse. Ist schon eine Weile her, oder?

Jep.

Like I'm trying to play the game and people just suicide on hook it's starting to not be fun anymore this ffing community if makeing this polished turd not even enjoyable anymore like why is this a normal thing now its straight out dumb and ruining the experience for everyone. I can't even enjoy the event because poeple die on first hook and I can't get the bp for putting them on different hooks

I read such generalized condemnation far too often. I don't want to provoke you or anyone else, but as someone who actually kills himself very often on the hook, I can show you a few reasons.

    Logical consequence:

The killer finds a survivor and hangs him more than once if necessary, if he doesn't even have the chance to kill him with his own hand. No matter how you spin it, if you as a killer player don't actively count and let your opponent know in some way that he can survive, he will accept the inevitable consequence, check you in a kill and drop out of the round.

The build of your character and the way you use it reveal you and allow conclusions about your intentions. Very few people seem to be in the mood for long hunts. The main thing is to find and hang (kill), if you ask me.

    Personal reason:

Would you believe me if I wrote to you that it's just a crappy habit? I'm not even excluding myself from that. Ask yourself how you got your crappy habits (Everybody has them)?

Mine comes from not liking the situation of being killed by a mori. Very simple. So, over time, I've developed the habit of suspecting behind certain moves of my opponent's that he intends to use a mori, and I've found that I'm delighted to be able to nullify that for him by being out at the first hook.

It's not all that easy to get away from it.

That I spoil the tour for the rest of the team by leaving early is something I don't accept. It's up to them to adapt.

What would happen if it went like this?

I get hung, someone comes, gets me off the hook, the killer has insidious and is right behind and hangs me again. Then I get off. Would that be better? Or do you want to wait until you've had a chance to earn BPs on me before I'm really out on the third hook?!

You see where I'm going with this?

What the other three survivors and the killer do is their business. The one who leaves early has nothing more to do with what follows than being a "first spark". It's not his fault if everything is on fire afterwards.

I can't please everyone in this game. And I don't have to. That sounds selfish, and that assumption is also tenable, but isn't it also such a killer who stubbornly follows his line anyway? Now more than ever!

I've seen it that way, too. Should one then really give away one's time for it?

You don't get cheated when you hang people up and they check you in a kill.

Let's not kid ourselves. You can't really escape a skilled killer player.

In the sister game Deathgarden, the whole thing was better solved and there was a higher degree of randomness. Additionally, the thing with killing by your own hand was more bearable for both sides.

The coincidences here shift to the particular build of your character, the composition of the survivor team, and the build of the killer. This creates a narrow framework in which the plot only tips from one extreme to the other, but never or only rarely comes to rest in the middle, unless one side is actively working towards it.

Except it isn't the Killer that you are leaving to rot. They don't care if you suicide on the hook or not really (at least I don't when I play Killer). It is the 3v1 (or worse) that you just hung out to dry. Everything you just wrote spotlights that you see this suicide on the hook as a thing that is between you and the Killer, when it isn't. You don't know what would have happened, or if those other Survivors would have gotten you or gotten more Generators done, or whatever because you are "gone" the second you check out.

You have unbalanced the game by your actions. The designers assume, calculate in fact that people will be on the hook (probably multiple times) and stay on those hooks for a bit. All you are doing is freeing the Killer up to hunt the others down faster.

I want to thank you for your view.

It is tenable. I cannot deny it.

Like a medal, there are two sides. Front and back.

  • @Luciferr_2nd said:

    Fellow Survivors,

I understand this game can be frustrating especially with some big issues.

But please stop suiciding on hook or disconnecting when it is NOT NECESSARY

Like dam i just had two matches in a row where a survivor instantly killed themselves on hook, usually i dont think much of it because its something like a spirit with stridor, or a iri head you know? But as far as i was aware, nothing bad was going on. No toxic builds or op killers or anything, just strange.

I know alot of you probably dont do this, im just saying my last two matches were pain.

I really understand your point of view, but I hope you understand mine as well:

In a certain way I like the game. But as with everything, there is something that bothers me:

This exaggerated killing with your own hand. There are people on both sides who find this cool. I find it repulsive.

For me, the suicide on the hook is a compromise. The killer player gets his kill checked in, and I'm ruining a chance to do that kind of violence. It happens in anticipation of a mori.

Further, I can tell you this:

It's not just about dodging a mori. You can tell with a high degree of accuracy what your opponent's goal is by the way he plays. And let's not fool ourselves: If the killer has you in his crosshairs, you need a lot of skill and incredible luck so that your opponent makes a mistake and gives you a chance to escape and/or you have the right loadout. For me, as a survivor, these situations are almost always predictable.

    Logical conclusion:

Expecting to be killed by the hand of the killer(player), he gets only a very small chance. If he spots me, he gets the kill checked in on the hook. And I do my best to stay undetected for a long time.

The view that I'm ruining the round for the other players is tenable for me, but not correct and therefore not my problem. I don't see DBD as a sporting game and also not as a championship. It is a game. What is preventing the rest of the players from adjusting to the new situation?

I had once made a suggestion to the devs to make the game less violent by implementing a checkbox in the settings that would allow the survivor player to automatically skip the corresponding animation in case of a mori.

That would satisfy everyone, I would think.

The killer player can get off on it and my one will immediately stop with the suicide on the hook. It couldn't be simpler.

However, I must add the following:

    Habit!

Much of what happens in the game seems to happen out of habit.

I very often observe that killers hang me on the back hook in the basement.

I like to interpret something into that:

"I want a kill." OK. Wish is fulfilled.

So why stay in the game when the killer player sends an understandable message? I do that, too! I don't fight my way out of the killer's grip most of the time.

If your opponent makes it very difficult or even impossible for you to escape from the hook, then there is no point in trying. Especially not if the remaining survivors do not use the time to repair generators, but make an insane rescue attempt.

I've been playing the game long enough to know the following:

A rescue attempt made difficult by the killer no matter how usually ends with all survivors massively weakened, and either for the one off the hook, the fun repeats, or one of the others is on it, or worse.

If you want to understand how I see things, I recommend this:

Content How could you play Dead by Daylight with decency, respect and fun? as survivor as killer ...

I once wrote this guide a few years ago. Even if there are exceptions, I can proudly say that I consider it durable and applicable.

As a killer player, I had really exciting and fun rounds that brought both me and my opponents a lot of points and fun. But you know what else?

We had respect for each other!

    Thank you for your time!

I wish you a happy new year 2021!

Yesterday was my first day playing DBD on PC. I've played for about two weeks on XBOX. The one difference I have noticed thus far: End game chat.

I was called all sorts of fun things at the end of one of my games last night. Camper and hacker being some of the nicer terms.

Here's why, sorry for the length:

I see Claudette from the get go. I am able to get her onto a hook. I start walking away because a gen pops in the distance, but I hear her trying to get off the hook behind me. So I turn and watch her until Daddy Long Legs start to show up due to failed attempts (almost struggle but not quite yet). I was there for maybe 3 seconds. I wasn't trying to camp by any means. I just figured if she's going to have the audacity to try to jump off right then, then I'm justified in observing her. So I go to check a nearby generator. I have the crows, one of them alerted me that a player was in that general area. Naturally she is rescued seconds later. I am able to find her very easily and I hook her again. I start looking in nearby lockers for her rescuer. She gets rescued again while I'm checking lockers. I'm able to down her and start carrying her to a hook. Two survivors block the hook and she wiggles free. I down one of them, and hook him. Then I look around for the other two players in that area. The fourth player unhooks him and they're able to escape through the gate. They burned through those generators. It was maybe a five-six minute game total.

End game chat comes up and they call me a camper for staying in that area. They also express their opinion of me in a very vulgar light. Even though I was actively looking for other survivors I knew were nearby. Then they said I had to be a hacker if I knew they were nearby. 🙄 Perks and eyeballs don't count I guess.

Anyway, should I have simply run off in the beginning instead of waiting the 3 seconds to see if she was going to get off the hook when she was actively attempting to do so right in front of me? As a new player, hindsight tells me I should have focused on the gens more so during that specific match. I legitimately thought they were using her as a distraction due to how easy it was to capture her.

Please productively criticize and give tips. I'm not trying to make the game any more "unpleasant" than it needs to be for other players. I would love to be a well mannered killer. 🤣

  • @Gay Myers (Luzi)

    Luzi?

Would you please move the thread to the bug report section?

    Thank you very much!

    @AhoyWolf

    Thanks for the eye opener!

NHNK = no hook, no kill (Ich jage nur.)

Firstly, if you want your suggestions to be taken seriously, I'd suggest avoiding the passive-aggressive title.

    1. The endgame collapse timer is only two minutes, that's already pretty short. The killer opening the exit-gate is virtually the killer conceding. I see no reason why the killer should benefit from forfeiting the match.
    2. The hatch seems fine to me as is. Changing it to your suggestion would make it complicated and difficult for newer players to understand. The hatch spawning criteria is already something that isn't understood by a lot of players.
    3. Better totem placements is already something the developers have been working on.
    4. This seems like a way to DC, without technically DC-ing. There's no point in the disconnect penalty if the developers are just going to encourage players to give up by adding features like this.

    Thanks for your advice.

I've made some suggestions before in best manners, which have also been ignored. That's fine with me.

When I see what is being responded to, namely from my point of view on issues where people grumble or even shout, if you can call it that, I thought I would do the same.

Especially if you as a manufacturer want to have feedback, then you should appreciate it.

I haven't spent money on DBD in a long time. Why should I? For cosmetics?

It would be my appreciation for the game and the devs. And the only thing I expect is that serious suggestions, which also take time, don't go unread.

Otherwise I can assume that the desire for suggestions for improvement is by far not as serious as they would have me believe.

  • @Salty_Huntress said:

I mean your title is literally an insult why would the devs even check it out. If I was a dev looking at that title I would just straight up ignore it for being rude

That's ok. They have divided the community into two camps anyway: trusted and the rest. That says a lot, if you ask me.

  • Guys,

    with all due respect:

Even if Deathgarden has been abandoned by Devs, the game is still alive!

    I'm playing it right now!

I don’t buy cosmetics, I’m not going to waste $13 CAD on something I stare at and dosent effect my game, on the other hand, I do buy characters and DLCs because they are cheap and they change my game

    Sounds reasonable to me.

  • @Kate_Main_01 said:

I need some positivity! Let's share wholesome messages we have gotten or responses to things we have said!

I'm posting this because I will send 'gg' and other respectful messages to Killers so long as it was well-played game (clear effort, no face camping, no hook slashing or tea bagging, and frankly no moris). What I get in response are often some of the most vile messages... "Whatever c*nt" and "gg f*g" were the two gems of tonight thus far. I just do not understand.

And to clarify something, I have never tea bagged anyone in this game. Not once. I believe keys are just the Survivor's mori, and though I see mori's about 1/3 of the game I have never used a key except to complete the "Escape with a key 2 times" challenge in the last Rift.

I also thought that perhaps 'gg' sounded sarcastic and so I started taking the time to write, "Well played game! :)" and "Ty for the gg!" and I still get called a c*nt and a b*tch. It's just a game, I know, I try to just laugh it off, but as someone who always tries to post really positive messages in the forums and has been sending upbeat messages in the game because of seeing PS4 Killers say that Survivors are toxic and they feel poorly... It just sucks.

So let's laugh about it together! And as always... Happy gaming, all! <3

    Here's how I see it:

"gg" is an abbreviation. From my point of view, this is what you use when you want to save time and/or space. In other words: From my point of view you use something like that if you want to save time and/or space while keeping the same intention. If you get the impression that you are no longer worth someone else's time, then the other person can also save those shortcuts.

So I don't not answer to abbreviations.

If I had a nice run with others and was the killer player, then it looks like this for me:

I: Thank you for your time. I hope you had as much fun as I did. I wish you a nice evening, night (whatever).

There are usually some nice conversations going on.

To be fair, I have to admit that as a killer I put more emphasis on hunting than killing.

I try to count how often someone has been on the hook, don't always go after the injured person, give fair chances and opportunities to generate many blood points for everyone.

  • Well,

at least Deathgarden works like a charm. 😁

The king is dead, long live the king!

Im actually curious to know what they mean since i hear it so often. Anytime Freddy, Oni, Spirit, Doctor or Billy are brought up, even Ghostface, they say its "boring" to go up against them. WHAT DO THEY MEEAANNN!!!!!???

    Hi all,

I just had a match where I was playing as the Doctor and I went up against a very VERY toxic, almost downright filthy team of survivors. I could clearly tell it was a SWF group but there was no need to play that way. I managed to kill 3 of them and the 4th escaped through the hatch. After the game (more like bullying session) they sent me messages of how I'm pathetic, horrible, play a different game, etc...

I'm a level 10 killer so I've played against some salty people before, but NEVER like this. So my question is how do you, or any recommendations as to how to play against people like that in game? I NEVER camp hooks because I absolutely hate doing that, but I almost did during that game because they weren't leaving me much of a choice and I didn't know what else to do.

As Someone who only used to Disconnect for legit Reasons like too high Killer Ping or somebody Holding the Game Hostage, i wasnt afraid of the Dc penalties as they are meant to be. But there are a few big Problems with this i wanna discuss with you and Maybe get the Devs to read if the ideas are healthy for the game. i also wanna see differnt types of aspects from you as i am going to write, so feel free to comment politely.

First Point: Killing Oneself on Hook has the same Impact as Ragequitting but doesnt get punished at all.

People who are getting found and downed first who would usually just Dc and move on now will have to kill themselves on Hook. What game Change does it have? None. Its absolutely the same apart from you getting a few Points and NOT receiving a punishment. So the DC Penalty actually favours People who just wanna get out of the match asap then it was before.

Second Point: DC Peanalties should Prevent someone to ruin the game/fun for others. Then why do Killers receive a Penalty aswell?

In the current state of the game it often happens that new/low rank Killers get bullied to hell by red ranks, often SWF Groups whose Intention is to make the Killer toxic/ bring them to Ragequit just for their amusement. Dc Penalties are meant to Prevent Unfun boring games if a Survivor ragequits at the beginning. So they only work this way that newer Players who have to endure four enemies with greatly better skills cant just Escape the match, give the survivors their enjoyment of bullying a Baby Killer and move along. Instead they are forced to Play along whats pure unfun for them, or wait for a timer to go down because this game isnt best designed. When a Killer ragequits, it doesnt take away the amusement for survivors, nor does it Prevent Player to throw the game for their Team because Killers dont have a Team. so if they DC, the whole game just Ends.

So in my opinion Killers shouldnt get Penalties for Disconnecting.

Third Point: DC Penalties punish Players with Computer issues/ Players who DC because of legit reason like in the Topic so much more then it does towards the Group of People it is meant for.

I am a Kind of Person with serious PC issues, so it happens more often to me that i get kicked out of the game and have to wait altough i didnt break any rules which would usually trigger the timer. it even stacked up so much, i couldnt lower the Penalty by playing without issues then it stacked up, so Right now the game crashes once a day and i receive a 48 HOURS! ban for doing Nothing wrong, and of Course im not happy About it. and i also nknow im not the only perspn with such Problems, but These People cant do anything against it. Also if someone has a bad day and runs into hostage-taking Killers more then once a day i cant see a reason to punish them, but in such situations theres no way to get out then leave the match-

So in conclusion what i would do, is to program the DC Penalty only to apply if the ingame button "Leave Game" was pressed.

Yes, I know this would just get abused by People who used to ragequit a lot by just pulling the plug, delete their Internet Connection or just ALT F4 shut down the PC. But this would also be Kind of a Penalty since they have to reboot/ start their PC again and still get the same effects like Disconnecting but without the matchmaking lock.

Another solution to solve the Problem, which i would really like to see implemented, would be to just create a "Unranked Game Mode" which is meant for People who just wanna Play casually and have fun without the Need of Performing good .

This would work exactly like normal games. It would have (kinda) matchmaking, you use your normal perks and items you unlocked. items get consumed if you die/ add ons if you Escape, BUT

    -you dont earn Blood Points

-you dont earn Devotion/ Archives progression

-you dont receive DC penalties, since the DCs Arent destroying the game in such a way as taking away Points/ Emblem Progress ANd other Survivor can just DC aswell and get into the next game without losing ANYTHING (except Maybe some time spend in Lobby).

So thats my Point of View of DC Penalties, and im really hoping to read some good comments, dont matter if agree or disagree as Long as they are constructive. Maybe you guys out there have some creative ideas of how to improve this Topic or Maybe the idea of an unranked game mode and give your opinion on it.

First Point: Killing Oneself on Hook has the same Impact as Ragequitting but doesnt get punished at all.

Not necessarily. It depends on who's left.

Second Point: DC Peanalties should Prevent someone to ruin the game/fun for others. Then why do Killers receive a Penalty aswell?

"Don't ruin the fun for the others". That's the problem right there. Some people like to be killed by Mori, others find it cool to kill someone this way and others can't stand it at all. Now find a common level of fun.

I don't see the harm in someone killing himself on the first hook. You go into a game with five players to play 4-on-1 and one by one they get knocked out.

To postulate that if one of them drops out of a game shortly after the start because the killer caught him and hung him up, this will ruin the game for the other players, I think that's a lame excuse that is good for the remaining players to hide their inability to adapt to the new situation.

Third Point: DC Penalties punish Players with Computer issues/ Players who DC because of legit reason like in the Topic so much more then it does towards the Group of People it is meant for.

I see it the same way.

    Wah people are DCing

ok here’s a dc penalty system

    Wah people are suiciding now

you all really are annoying with how much you complain, if you remove suicide, then they will just AFK

stop finding reasons to cry and endure

To you I say with all my heart: THANK YOU!

Your post seems to me to be the only one with reason within.

Of course, the devs could go so far that only the screaming crowd remains, which takes the game so seriously that it is no longer a game at all.

And of course the devs probably know that if you shrink the player base to the point that only these people are left and they have no one to complain about, then the devs will not only be their prey, but their own as well.

  • @Lavos99z said:

    It's toxic.

You could just say "well played/wp" instead because it's better on both sides to say that. The only time it's okay to say "gg" is if the losing party believes it was a gg and says so first. You come off as cocky and scummy when you say it after a huge victory, especially if the game only lasted like 5 minutes. Let's not feed into toxic behavior, even at this level guys. Start from the bottom and work our way up.

    I don't think it's toxic. I rather think it's redundant.

I think it's more meaningful the way people devote their precious time to other people.

A "gg" is meaningless to me. A "Thank you for your time. I hope you had as much fun as I did." is more meaningful to me.

I can't be the only person who's experience is being completely ruined by toxic survivors, right? It feels like every match that they'll teabag and flashlight spam at me, regardless of if they're good or not. This is ridiculous.

Believe it or not, but I think that the cause of your negative experience is solely your attitude or your expectations of the game.

To see "win" or "lose" as the only outcome of the game is not enough for me. When I play Killer, I have a lot of fun chasing survivors.

    Why don't you try this?
