  • You basically just want to drop his guards to push survivors away from loops. The guard doesn't need to trigger a hunt, as long as the survivor moves away from the loop. You really don't have time to make complex paths.

The other use for his guards I found is to place them down before picking someone up against flashlights or sabo since they can't flashlight save or sabo without consquences due to the guards.

  • The current rift usually expires around the time the next mid-chapter PTB goes live.

  • Honestly I highly doubt actual facecamping is happening every match. You might be encounter normal camping where a killer is near the hook ready to defend against unhooks, but I doubt it's facecamping every match.

Not to mention hard camping strats can be dealt with hook trades close to the next hook state.

  • This is not a bug. The devs stated this is intentional back when Wiretap came out.

  • @Mooks said:

Funny thing is, matchmaking already priorities short queue times over fair matchmaking. That combined with MMR already flawed because it’s only really considering escapes/kills and not gameplay at all makes it already messy and almost as random as old Rank based matchmaking

Pretty sure the mmr changes went live and the number of survivors that escape now also factor into it.

  • If Lethal Pursuer is an issue for you, consider running Distortion.

You see, this is a harmful achievement somehow, it makes us fight on the Tombstone topic, anyway, the thing is that there are also people who dc mid mori, and you don't get it, and I think that's really stupid, but yes, the one who designed this achievement was more evil than Michael himself

There's nothing wrong with the achievement. The achievement is even easier now than it was when the achievement came out due to perks like Corrupt and Deadlock helping extend the game longer so you can mori everyone before the last gen is done. Also no early hatch + key escape to mess you up either. If you want to play for an achievement, understand that no one else in the game has to let you get the achievement.

The tombstone addons are simply just not healthy addons for the game and they deserved an overhaul.

Here's an idea. Learn how to actually play the game, and not get in lockers right infront of the Killer - and surprising I even have to say this - Don't do generators right infront of the Killer. Do you know how dumb you sound right now?

You're telling people to learn to play the game, because they countered your addons that allows you to instant kill survivors ignoring most normal gameplay.

I'm sorry, but you are the one who needs to "learn to play". You're crutching hard on these addons and want the devs to make it impossible for you to mess up.

Not how the add-on intended. Where on the add-on does it say "Survivors can get into lockers like brain dead monkeys to make this add-on completely and entirely useless, they will still die the same on hook, but they are going to do it anyways just to deny you the point of the add-on and the achievements"

Most killer powers can't hurt people in lockers and addons only boost the killers' power. The addon doesn't need to stay that it can't mori survivors in lockers, because it should be obvious.

  • Recent Discussions doesn't have a sidebar.

    Sidebar for reference:

    image.png

Also I miss the forums having the DBD twitter feed on the side as well.

  • The snowmen are effectively just mobile lockers.

But also survivors don't want to just be straight up killed by the killer so you can't really call survivors "grinches" for not letting themselves be killed by you for an achievement.

I watched some, its basically just child games like Simon says and remember.

Game looks good tho, but not a game I think will last.

I'm not trying to suggest that this game will be the new dbd. I just thought the way they handled the main objective is just a better system.

Saw your thread and looked into it on Twitch - and immediately got turned off by the aesthetics.

i really don’t get why no one tries to do an asymmetric game like DbD/Friday 13th -without the initial tie to a license. You can learn so much from these games and the criticism/feedback they got… but somehow all these asymmetric horror game are repeating the exact same mistakes or have some weird design direction like this toy thing..

edit: just realized this may sound way too harsh against this game, that’s not what I meant though. It might still be good for what it is and tries! It’s just not for me personally. And as I understand it, it’s a multiplayer spinoff for an already existing franchise, so there is already another target audience I am sure that enjoys this game!

Asymmetrical PvP is just not an easy game to get people to play. Despite DBD managing to last all these years, it's still hard on new players trying to play it.

  • BVHR creates bad killer perks as well, it's not like they are solely targetting survivors with bad perks. Thing with survivor perks is it's harder to break into survivor meta than it is for killer meta since killers having different powers allows some perks to shine better with some killers.

  • If this was one time thing were you had issues and lost connection, you wouldn't have more than a 15 minute penalty. The fact you got 48 hour penalty suggestions you have constant internet issues and likely shouldn't be playing a multiplayer game or you have a habit of leaving games.

  • I honestly haven't seen much of BHVR banning for abusing bugs in the game. With the killswitch, serious things should be getting killswitch so people can't abuse them.

The only time I remember where bvhr explicitly stated they would ban for bug abusing was Infinite Mending Legion bug.

  • It won't.

People have been complaining about this for years and yet the game is just fine.

  • It's definitely not just you.

Every single pallet and vault always seems to get me hit regardless.

  • I haven't seen killers use snowmen for insidious so it hardly matters that they do

  • The Knight also can't place guards too close to windows, pallets, or gens. So besides not being good, he also at times just feels really clunky.

Why would you want to turn him back into the old no brain just quick scope shoot thing... That was terrible to go against, just give him something else, like a long range projectile or something else to add to his kit instead of bringing the terrible stuff back that luckily got changed.

This is just not true. Deathslinger still had to aim his shots and his gun isn't hitscan.

That's super weird that it's blank for you - I've just gone in and checked and it's showing clearly for me. I refreshed the permissions just in case. Can you let me know if it's visible now?

    It's working now

  • I don't understand how some people have enough emergencies that they d/c enough to actually reach 3 day bans. If you are d/c at a consistent and frequent basis you would get perma-banned so if you have a day where your power is going on and off, don't play dbd.

But I don't think a perma-ban would solve the issue. Right now the 1st d/c is only a minute and the 2nd is only 5 minutes. This allows people to d/c a couple of times with practically no real penalty. D/cing should at a min be a 15 minute timeout.

  • Survivors shouldn't ever be completely unable to unhook another survivor. The status effect also doesn't to make survivors unable to use pallets or vault, because the status effect prevents them from progressing the game.

The status effect is fine as it is

  • @Lovez600 said:

All bhvr has to do is make hooks teloport similar to pyramid heads cage. Camping is now instantly fixed. All the borrowed time buffs, and added perks are unnecessary.

Make survivors invincible for 100 seconds after an unhook. Making tunneling impossible. The unhooked survivor can't repair gens during the 100 seconds. When another survivor is hooked the effect goes away.

Those two things fix the issue instantly.

The solution is so easy, but bhvr keeps trying all this extra stuff.

Hooks are a form of pressure. The ability to pick which hook you place a survivor at is important for keeping tempo in a match as killer. The reason PH cages are random is because it's a trade-off for the time save from not picking the survivor up and being able to ignore perks.

The devs would have to make a solo gen 5 minutes if they were to do what you suggest and I'm sure you'll find that more fun.

I can address a couple of your points right now.

Recent Discussions is still customisable, I'm checking which options that I can switch on/off to make it more user friendly (accounting for mobile users here as well).

The "home" button is temporary, it's to help fix an issue with the mobile version where there's no way to switch between sub forums - this is something that we've raised with the hosting company.

The same with the recent discussions pulling from both sub communities - this is something that will be fixed so that on DbD you will see only DbD related threads, and on MyM you will see only MyM threads.

Colour schemes can still change, there's some changes that we can make to make things more visible etc and we will be doing these over the coming days...we're still a wip on here right now. Those changes should help with dark mode as well.

Can we get an option to change how many threads per a page show? It would be nice to expand the list of recent discussions.

You can easily like the game and dislike the people. League Of Legends should have taught us as much.

And to be fair, they do have a point about the double standards of the community. No one is responsible of other people's fun, but when they quit a match all hell breaks lose.

Truth is, games tend to have rules because game devs know they have to protect people from themselves. "No one is responsible of your fun" is a terrible take that leads to games having 0 new players and an ever increasing amount of premades/SWF. It's the reason solo q is in such a terrible state.

I'm not saying DBD players in particular are bad, I'm saying the core game does not prevent people from neither min-maxing their efficency to the detriment of other players nor from ruining someone else's fun for their own pleasure.

FFXIV had some emote spammers that teabagged dead people on the floor after the PvP rework and they were quick to add a new rule that punished people from doing so. The game mode has been a blast to play since then, and way more chill. League of Legends is constantly updating the game to prevent abusive strategies, no matter how niche they are. And they balance for both pro and casual play.

You should not defend people actively trying to kick out another player with 1000 BP at most by tunneling them out of the game. It is efficent, but the game should promote going for somebody else rather than semi-hostage taking someone on hook from either tunneling or camping them.

I mean, that was the entire reason BT got a basekit version. A just rescued survivor, wounded, right in front of the killer? What's more efficent than hitting them? Now base BT somewhat disuades people from tunneling as hard.

If someone only got 1K score after being chased->hook 3 times in a row. They weren't playing well at all. We should not cater the game those people bad at the game. Tunneling and camping aren't instant win strategies and can be beaten by a team of survivors better than the killer.

What people love to forget is that DBD is a 1v4 elimination game. The killer is trying to eliminate members of the other team. This naturally makes tunneling and camping effective tactics. You will never get rid of these strategies without completing changing the game.

Friendly killers usually get insulted. So that might be the reason.

Killers in general get insulted over anything. If no matter what you do is going to end up with someone insulting you, might as well play to win.

They are clearly meant to help prevent tunneling and camping, other wise they wouldnt have been added in the first place. And if someone doesnt want to go against it they shouldnt have to. They have every right to dc and move on from those matches.

They do not prevent such actions and never will. These perks exist to give you some help against those tactics, not to prevent them.

You don't get to pick and choose what you want to play against in a PvP and if you queue up to play a match you should play it out. Instead of justifying rage quitting go play a different game.

I only used the offering for bloodpoints though. do teammates offering allows u to see it as well?

The basement offering should only give the person who burnt it aura reading for the first 20 seconds.

  • Did you use the offering for the basement spawn? Because that offering also says you see the basement hook auras. They should only last 20 seconds though.

  • Another thing I've noticed with bots is that they will often let their teammates go on to next stage. I wanted to see bot behavior vs plague, but everyone died on 1st hook because chasing a bot near hook made it so other bots wouldn't go for save.

Bots seem to just cleanse against plague. I tried with both thana and without thana and the bots just cleansed when they got fully infected. Though they will let themselves get fully infected while working on a gen with another survivor and then leave to cleanse.

But was camping and tunneling an intended mechanic? Because looping wasnt an intended mechanic. It was something that the players found to be effective. I would argue that its the same with camping and tunneling. I never said it was invalid. And those perks are intended to prevent camping and tunneling. Think of old DS and how many killers would slug as to not eat DS. Thats prevention. Fact of the matter is camping and tunneling just isnt fun. And the whole argument of people can play how they want is a BS argument. Its not that its not fun cause you die. You either sit on the hook all match and have very little interactions, or you get tunneled and have very little interactions.

Again those perks don't prevent the killer from camping or tunneling. Reassurance does not stop a killer from staying by the hook and OTR and DS don't stop the killer from continuing after you.

And whether or not it was intended doesn't matter, because the devs have accepted them as valid tactics. The devs have stated that they aren't bannable and even made balance changes to reduce the power of tunneling straight off hook. The devs have acknowledge these tactics and have stated they are acceptable.

Camping and tunneling shows down the game. The Wraith that sits at the hook is not clever, he just wants it easy and is making the game unfun. More than perks are needed. Make it so Killers have to throw the game in order to tunnel and camp. 3 Mettle of Mans or 90 sec. Borrowed Time. Camping and Tunneling is boring at this point. Make the counter just as boring.

Camping and Tunneling when done wrong can easily throw the game. Chasing a survivor running you around for 5 gens is not winning. And sitting at a hook when the survivors get gens done and leave is not winning either.

I had a 3 man escape against a facecamping leatherface, because we did hook trades right before next hook state and focused gens.

  • @Blink0925 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3291961#Comment_3291961

Killers have perks that slowdown gens so is doing gens something that survivors shouldnt be doing? Healing has been an action in the game from the begining, basekit BT has not. All of those healing perks BOOST, healing speeds, not prevent them BT and DS and Reassurance are things meant to PREVENT camping and tunneling.

There's no perk in the game that prevents camping and tunneling. Perks at their very best make those tactics a bit less rewarding, but they don't prevent the killer from doing so.

Reassurance, OTR, and DS existing don't make tunneling and camping invalid mechanics. They are just tools to deal with valid mechanics that devs are aware about. The perks wouldn't exist if the devs didn't allow killers to camp and tunnel survivors. They would simply make camping and tunneling impossible.

  • @Blink0925 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3291916#Comment_3291916

But there are perks like DS, BT, hell the made BT base. And we now have Reassurance. That is a clear indicator to me that its something you shouldnt be doing.

Survivors have perks that allow them to heal themselves alongside perks to increase healing speeds, does this mean that killers injuring survivors is not something killers should be doing?

Perks exist to help both sides in areas they want to be stronger in. Perks that help against tunneling and camping only cement that tunneling and camping are part of the game. If they weren't, then the devs wouldn't create perks to help against them they would just remove the ability to camp or tunnel.

  • This blight main is having fun? Oh no what a terrible thing. /s

DC isnt against the rules. It is strongly discouraged. So is camping and tunneling. Look at how many perks are in the game to help prevent those things from happening.

You get a timeout penalty for d/cing so it's clearly not something the devs want you to be doing.

You do not get a timeout penalty for tunneling or camping and the devs have stated that neither of those are reported.

Who said I was mad? Frustrated, yes. Mad, not really. And youre telling me, if some one does something to you over and over again, you dont get upset? If some one repeatedly pokes you with a pencil, your just gonna say "well I guess at least they are enjoying themselves, thats out of my control." No, your probably gonna say something about it, or your gonna move to a different spot. Now, camping and tunneling doesnt bother me personally, but it bothers other people. And when you come in here and tell people to just get over it, its just a game, its just this or that, kind of a dick move. Let them have their feelings, let them make their decisions, now whether those decisions are right or wrong, its different for everyone. What you fail to realize is, we dont know what happens after the dc. Maybe that person gets off for the day. Maybe that player has had a bad string of games, gets feed up with it and goes and plays a different game. to use your own words, people can play how they want, and if someone wants to DC every match, thats their choice.

It is just a game and people should get over it. Tunneling and camping are not against the rules by any means and quitting because someone is playing within the rules of the game is being a baby.

It's Solo Survivor that has to "finish out the match" under all circumstances, not Killer. I play both. I can ruin the fun of the other four as Killer but I have no control over the match as a Solo Survivor.

Everyone should finish out the match regardless of the role you are playing. People queue up to play a game and the least you can do is respect other's people time and play the game from start to finish.

I added the information about Blight's strength and the strength of Compound 33 to make clear that it's not some emotional thing. I DC'd to send a message. His chat got it. The Killer said he doesn't play by the "Rulebook" anymore.

I'm a person, not an NPC. Tunneling says you're an NPC.

The killer isn't an NPC either. In fact, you are upset that the killer isn't an NPC programmed to not tunnel.

  • It is a rage quit. You are quitting the game, because you got mad over something that occurred in the game.

Also who said I'm upset you are rage quitting here? I've simply stated that if you are rage quitting so much, because of people playing the game the way they want. Then maybe you don't actually like dbd and should pick a different game to play.

No one is forcing you to play a game you clearly aren't enjoying.

  • @Blink0925 said:

Then they have the right to leave the match they are playing and move to the next match. If people are not responsible for my fun, I am not responsible for their fun, so I dont care how I affect anyone else in the trial. I mean thats the stance the community takes right? So then why is it such an issue when some one DCs or Kills themselves on hook?

If you want to rage quit every game, because you can't handle that your opponents are other players who can play the way they want within the rules of the game, then why are you playing the game?

At some point you have to realize you just don't like dbd and stop playing dbd.

    I implied no such thing.

Kicking a gen and downing a survivor is certainly an easier and more consistent task than downing a survivor and carrying them to a Scourge Hook.

Under the list of why Pain Res is fine you put "the killer has to earn its value" which implies that Eruption isn't fine, because the killer doesn't have to earn its value.

Eruption is easier to earn, but the killer still has to earn it.

  • The killer still has to earn value with Eruption. Kicking a gen and then downing a survivor isn't free. Since you seem to imply that Pain Res is earned and not Eruption.

Personally I think all gen effecting perks should end if the gen is fully regressed. Overcharge shouldn't throw a skillcheck if the gen is fully regressed as well.

  • @Alcuin said:

There are five people playing the match. If you play without that in mind, play a story-driven game or a single player game.

This is a PvP game. Your opponent is under no obligation to play in a way that is friendly towards you. They are free to play as they wish within the rules set by devs. Tunneling is not against the rules.

  • D/cing because you were getting tunneled by the killer isn't making the message you think it's making.

Frankly, you just need to accept killers are not bound to play in a way you want them to.

  • It does not. If you attempt all 3 times, it's roughly an 11% chance you get yourself off. Being able to self hook yourself 1 out of 10 games is already pretty high for the impact that self unhooking is.

  • All contamination does is allow Nemesis to damage you with his power and makes you slightly louder so you are a bit easier to track. It's not a big deal. Nemesis power is designed in a way that he's meant to get better over time so running out of vaccines is a part of that.

If contamination permanently slowed you like Wesker's infection, then there would be a need for more vaccines. But as it stands there's nothing to change.

Here's a pro-tip, you don't need to vaccination immediately against Nemesis. It's fine to stay contaminated if you aren't in any immediate danger.

    I do for:

    - Trying killers like hillbilly to understand some collisions

    - Testing some perk combinations

    - Understanding add-ons I've never used

    - Playing killer at times where killer queues take too long and I really don't feel like waiting

    😁

I like them, the only think I dislike is when they go to the edges of the map and always behave the same at those windows 🤣

I find some killers like ghostface particularly annoying against bots tho, they always seem to look at you and reveal you from distances and angles that i rarely experience when versing players lol.

Speaking of Ghostface. Bots also seem to always know when you are approaching them regardless of LoS while you are shroud. Makes testing out stuff with Ghostface much harder, because it's nearly impossible to sneak up on bots.

  • I've messed around with them, but being bots they are highly expoitable.

Bots vs Pinhead: The bots only attempt to solve the box while you are carrying a survivor. They also don't understand to dodge the chains.

Bots vs Nemesis Zombies: I've seen the bots get by zombies so much without even being around so I don't think they fully understand to avoid the zombie.

Bots also love to run to the edge of the map and run around a Z wall.
