Vauts broken, Alien broken neither a priority.
Flashlight glitch and insta killswitch.
How about killswitch Xeno as well as a sign of caring about survivor mains as well?
These kind of actions are helping to add to the killer vs survivor mentality in the community. And yes, I understand that a couple people running with flashlights could create a terrible situation for killers but unless it was 4 people working together, there was still people to hunt while one person just wasted their own time in a locker. Would be better if they kill switched lockers but doing that would have hurt killers since a majority now run Pefect Weapon.
Also, my main killer to play is Dredge, so yeah killswitching lockers would have made him useless but I still think it was the better choice. Survivors have no shot to safe a teammate from being hooked now (Don't say flashbang as you are saying to waste a perk slot versus carrying an item)
Xeno's cooldown sometimes not applying the proper slowdown is not on the same level as an exploit with flashlights allowing survivors to glitch into lockers and be effectively invincible against most killers. There's a reason only one of those things got killswitched. Killswitching exploits and gamebreaking bugs is not an us vs them thing.
Plus the devs have already acknowledged the bug with Xeno's tail cooldown and have stated they plan to fix it.

You ever hear about squeaky wheels and grease? Nothing changes anymore unless you complain. Remember insta blinds?
Did I say you couldn't complain about the exploit?
I just said don't force yourself to play through games knowing survivors have an exploit that makes them invincible outside of very specific killer powers.
Plus it's not like the devs aren't already aware of the issue. Just chill out, take a break, come back later.
-
@MrDrMedicman said:
Cool, so as I'm complaining about, the game is broken and punishes killers for trying to play. Got it. Thank you.
Devs fix your game
I would recommend just taking a break. There's plenty of other games you can play besides DBD that you don't need to force yourself to suffer during this period.

I get what your saying.I just don't think your understanding what I'm trying to say.No it is not ok to cheat.Im saying the killers are so over power ,the survivors feel they have to cheat.that is not an excuse to cheat. And you shouldn't cheat even if they are over powered.Im not making excuses for me or anyone to cheat.
You're just double downing on that it's okay to cheat, because "killers OP". But I can tell you as someone who plays plenty of survivor you don't need to exploit the game to escape often.
I'm done entertaining someone who just wants to defend cheating.
-
Killswitch doesn't take effect unless you reload the game and it seems that there's no trigger to force some players to reload their games allowing them to use flashlights despite being killswitched.
The other thing is that flashlights can still be found in chests.

Look, I explained that the best I could. At what part did I ever say cheating was ok. If You don't understand it, sorry bro
look at the reason why people feel they have to cheat
This is defending cheating. You are literally stating it's okay to cheat, because survivors have "valid reasons" to do so.

I completely agree ...read my comments again. And bro your "tactics" got old in 2018. Now it's just ruining the game for everyone. And no one's having fun.
If you are not having fun, just don't play dbd. No need to cheat and ruin the game for people who do find the game fun.

You misunderstood.Ill try to write write this so you can better understand my argument. I'm not defending cheating. Cheating in any pvp game is deplorable. And the people who are using it to gain an unfair advantage should be banned. I'm just saying, look at the reason why people feel they have to cheat. Ask anyone and they will tell you that The Killers are OP Right now ...this is not coming from a survivor .I am a killer/survivor main. I played 80 games, as the wraith and didn't lose a single one. I can't play 2 games as Survivor without getting tunnel out of The Game. Maybe survivors feel that since the odds are stacked against them. And behavior won't do anything about it. they're Going to take matters into their own hands.
You can't say cheating is deplorable while then writing up a defense for cheating. Stop defending cheating full stop.

The Wiretap/Blast Mine bug is apparently fine though.
Who is saying it's fine?
The flashlight bug was being massively exploited causing many games to be held hostage by the exploiters. Thus the killswitch. If the blast mine bug is also a huge problem, it'll get killswitched too.
-
@Alice_pbg said:
can't you just space 2 crows properly and get the damage right away?
You can. The invincibility buffer is 0.75 seconds, Dire Crows fly at 20m/s for the first 0.3 seconds and then 35m/s. You'll need to space the Crows about 22m apart.
The problem is this gives the survivor time to just leave that locker and enter a different one, so I don't see it being effective at countering the survivor exploiting. You're just better placing the crow right in front of them and if they leave to avoid it, you can just smack them.

Maybe survivors wouldnt feel the need to cheat If almost every killer wasn't being a camping/slugging bully pos.killers are way to over powered and need to be nerfed. And don't give me no crap about camping and slugging being strategy.with strategy you actually use your brain, You just want a 4K without having to earn it.and you also say Oh, if a killer is camping you that gives time for the survivors to do other gens. No, I'm gonna try to save them. Because why would I let anybody bully somebody else? It's not fair that 9 out of 10 games is ruined by a bully and it's not fair that killers can see Survivors add-ons and prepare for it but we can't see there's. Survivors literally have no defense other than running in a circle. And most killers can counter that. So if you ask me, this exploit actually makes the game a little bit more Fair. That being said, if you are cheater or a bully of any kind stay off of dead by daylight, no one wants to play with you.
Cheating is not a valid response to Killers using legit tactics

Shouldnt Artist be 2 hits as well if you are close to the locker?
Once the crow hit any wall, it turns into a swarm. Doesn't matter how close. The locker should count as a wall and you'll have to land 4 crow hits against the survivor hiding in the locker, but it's possible it doesn't.
-
Artist can still damage survivors. Takes longer than PH as it's 4 hits vs 2 hits.
I've also heard that Leatherface can still damage survivors likely via Tanturm against the locker and Myers can still kill with tombstone.
So the tier list needs more adjustments.
-
It's crazy to me that people are trying to justify exploiting the bug. I never seen people justify the infinite mending legion bug or the nurse speed bug which were awful to face.
You really can see the growing entitlement in the community.
-
Mandy confirmed in another topic that survivors can still get flashlights from chests. Hopefully with the removal of perks to get items and bringing flashlights to trial, this will not be as widespread issue as it was over the weekend.
-
Are flashlights still pullable in chests if the item is disable?
-
BHVR usually releases Dev Blogs and Patches around 11am EST (1 hour from now). I would at least wait til noon EST before gathering pitchforks.

While I agree that the locker/flashlight issue should be kill switched until it's fixed, your argument implies that 3 genning as skull merchant should also be kill switched as well.
I'm all for both, actually. With game bans for each abusing player.
Playing skull merchant is not an exploit.
-
@AbsolutGrndZer0 said:
I swear, if this was reversed with a killer addon or something they'd have killswitched the entire killer already... so why haven't flashlights been killswitched until they can fix it?
It's the weekend. The people who can enable the killswitch likely aren't working. No need to make this into some conspiracy about bhvr favoring survivors.
-
Likely they'll killswitch flashlights tomorrow when BHVR is actually working. We'll likely not see a fix for the issue until next week since the hotfix for this week is likely already locked in.
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
The wildest thing to me is the people that are defending abusing it. Comparing it to a 3-genning Merchant.

It's weird these people are risking getting banned just to as some payback towards a single killer that really doesn't see that widespread play.

Nobody should be banned for devs mistakes. They are playing the game as installed. If anyone gets banned over this it'll be ridiculous when the devs can kill switch flashlights in a hour.
It's not up to the player base to not use glitches because you can't fix your game. The Fast vaults where technically a glitch, is everyone that did a mega fast vault before patch gonna be banned?
Is everyone playing xeno right now gonna be banned because cooldown glitch?
The xeno cooldown bug does not hold the game hostage nor is the bug something the player really controls.
The locker + flashlight exploit holds the game hostage and it's something that the player has to intentionally do. You don't just accidentally bug yourself into the locker making yourself invincible.

Maybe they should develop the game in a way then so that things like this dont happen.
They will patch A B C and somehow, without touching anything X Y Z will break. Clowns perk will be adjusted, and somehow it breaks something for artist, or a map is affected. The entire game needs to be fixed.
I can tell you've never coded anything if you think it's simple to just "not develop bugs and exploits into a game".
No matter how diligent you think you are being, there's going to be some combination of inputs that create unintended results that you never thought to check.

My guy the killswitch function was made for this exact reason to disable stuff and fix it
It's literally gone if you killswitch the item, perk or map that has said issue and people wouldn't encounter it
It's Sunday. I don't expect anyone at bhvr to be around to killswitch it. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
-
It's not like the devs can just push a button and the exploit is gone. They still have to find the issue and fix it which can take time. Then on top of that, the hotfix patch for this week is likely already set in stone so we likely won't see any fixes for it until the following week.
Plus it's the weekend, so unlikely anyone is working at BHVR right now to address it.
Situation sucks, but you can just take a break from playing and wait for them to either fix the issue or killswitch flashlights.

If ever game, banned every person that used an exploit they discovered there would be a lot less people playing games.
It happens in every single game. It isn't going to cost the Devs of DBD any revenue as you aren't paying for a battle pass and I'm pretty sure no one is going to just stop playing the game over any bug that pops up.
Do you think every killer that gets a window hit right now because fast vaults are bugged should be banned for using an exploit? Same exact thing. It's an exploit due to an issue on the Devs side.
Window vaults being bugged is not an exploit nor does bugged vaults prevent the game from ending. Do not defend this exploit.
-
@Melinko said:
I don't think they can or should ban people for something that is a break on the devs side. It isn't like they've done something to their game client to get an advantage.
It's like the Blast Mine bug where you go out of body sometimes. Invisible and able to unhook and open gates. I didn't plan for it to happen but it was funny as hell.
They banned people over the Legion mending bug which was when the mending time increasing addons were bugged and kept stacking each time you were hit making the mending time keep going up.
Bugs that can literally keep the game hostage are worthy of getting banned over.
-
What killer power is dodgeable with 2000 ping? Pretty sure you'll never see any windup of any power with 2000 ping before you get hit.
-
5 minutes is like half the match length and it's just going to lead to killers instant d/cing due to map or survivors instant d/cing due to killer. As good intention as you have about this, this would be too easy for people to exploit and most games wouldn't end with 5 human players.
While it sucks you had to d/c vs hackers, getting a 30 minute penalty meant you had d/ced a few times before it.
-
The game is much faster where survivors don't necessarily heal enough to get value from nurse's often. Much better to run perks to regress gens and generic info perks to locate survivors then to rely on catching those healing.

You really don’t think it’d be an issue that Doctor had the following basekit:
Effectively no TR to signal his approach, because a map-wide TR becomes meaningless for indicating distance.
Map-wide pings on a cooldown of a minute, for free. Increasing madness by 1 tier for every hit, allowing for even more tracking through add-ons. With the only counter being hiding in a locker immediately when you hear the very low and quiet wind-up.
Effective incapacitation at tier 3, which admittedly doesn’t last too long but that’s besides the point. It happens every three minutes, too.
The ability to force survivors to let go off gens across the map, regardless of where he is or what he’s doing, meaning guaranteed DMS value, only countered by a really contrived game of prediction on the survivors’ end.
Effective on every map. Not just the Game. Every map.
Whilst still allowing him the luxury of having a full build without the need to dedicate anything to expanding his TR??
AND the fact Doc still has his anti-loop M2 ability?
Mind you, a Doc that has a map-wide terror radius by default does not need to run perks or add-ons to increase his TR. Hell, Distressing and M&A are then completely useless on him. So what’s a Doc gonna run? Coulrophobia, Overwhelming Presence, Unnerving Presence, DMS, Jolt, Starstruck, Ultimate Weapon, Infectious, etc.. Only players actively handicapping themselves would not run perks to abuse the fact that his TR is map-wide. Hell, he can forgo information perks entirely, because he gets map-wide pings every minute.
You really don’t think that’s an issue?
It's every 2 minutes really, because survivors only reset back to T1.
T1 at start of match, T2 - 60 seconds later, T3 - 2 minutes later, reset to T1 (takes 12 seconds), T2 - 60 seconds later, T3 - 2 minutes later, repeat.
-
The only things the devs have stated that don't count towards mmr is hatch escape.
-
@HoodedWildKard said:
Because map wide terror radius is insane. Coulraphobia + sloppy butcher + unnerving presence would make it literally impossible to heal.
Because hitting every surv with static blast everytime you fire it would be broken.
Because it would make the terror radius useless for survivors and tbh hearing a heartbeat all match would just be irritating.
Overwhelming presence would rinse all survivors items all game.
Starstruck would expose everyone on the map when you pick up. Add bbq and you can just chain easy downs so quickly.
Quite simply it would break so many TR based perks as well as messing hugely with a basic game mechanic. It would just make doctor so unfun to play against. Like way worse than nurse.
Tbf on Starstruck, Doctor has no mobility so the getting exposed downs with Starstruck from further than 32m is not going to happen.

Some more locker coverage on maps would be great,
if bHVR dont feel like they can put lockers everywhere perhaps bushes and cars can be used as Lockers-
Swamp is certainly the biggest offender for this, but at least Swamp is the last map that hasn't gotten a rework so hopefully it'll get more lockers.
-
Jolt actually used to this on release. Then one patch is was removed and was never listed in the patch notes. The devs have never stated whether it's intended that jolt causes screams or not.
As far as I'm concerned, this was a fix to a long standing bug.
-
The only things that BHVR has stated is they have a fix for the missing speed penalty during the tail attack cooldown. There's stated there's no plan for changes (buffs or nerfs) on xenomorph, because he just came out.
You guys really need to not rush demanding nerfs for a killer that is likely just fine once the bugs are fixed.

That is the whole point. Proxy camping hook shouldn’t be meta.
Why shouldn't it?
Killers have every right to defend hooks and unhooking a survivor isn't something meant to be a free thing survivors can do. If unhooks were meant to free, then survivors would just respawn some time later after being hooked.
Some of you guys really need to play killer, because it's very clear you only care about the game from the perspective of the survivor.
-
People can claim that something is OP while it's not actually OP. Bad experiences facing a particular perk or killer can lead someone to believe it's a problem when it's not.
Honestly the community overreacts about nearly everything.

tbf plague and legion exist. And on the map wide spread of power. i mean we got new sadako now who can actually kill you with her map wide increases. Doctor just stalls the team every 60 seconds if they go madness 3. But yeah honestly id just make his normal tr bigger to like 40 meters to not make the bigger tr such a mandatory thing using his addons. So you can use more of a spread.
Plague offers fountains which is much faster than normal healing.
Nothing actually stops you from healing against legion.
You can completely negate the map wipe condemn by holding a tape.

I don't see a difference in parking yourself 20 feet away instead of 5.
A survivor has an attempt to make a play at unhook without ending in a trade if the killer is 20m away. Not so much when the killer is 5m away.
-
Because it's not meant to be an anti-camping mechanic.
It's an anti-facecamping mechanic. Killers are still allowed to defend hooks, they just won't be able to park themselves in front of the hook doing nothing else.
-
@RaSavage42 said:
I mean how is it not skillful to not kick Gens?
Also Eruption wasn't used when it had 16 seconds so they buffed it to 25 seconds and it became OP
So why not give it 10 seconds of Incap. and be done with it
Blocking Gens takes away regression... so you would get the 10% but nothing else
Honestly, it shouldn't give any amount of incap and it wasn't just the buff to 25 seconds of incap that broke the perk.
Don't forget Eruption was originally 6% instant regression lose which is 5.4 charges. The 16 seconds of incap means a gen could lose another 4 charges before a survivor could start the repair.
With the buff to 10% instant regression, gens now lost 9 charges instantly which is roughly the same value as before, but than added 25 seconds of incap allowing gens to lose an additional 6.25 charges. The perk was double buffed and incap as a status effect forced survivors into situations where there wasn't anything else they go while waiting out the status. It's not like facing Twins or Pinhead where survivors have something to engage with to break out of the status effect.
Current eruption gives the same value as the release eruption, but more consistent on top of additional aura reading. If eruption needs a tweak, we could bump the instant regression a bit. But outside of that I don't see Eruption as needing more changes.
-
Hatch isn't really a fair mechanic, but it's also one that has to exist otherwise you just get situations where both sides are just waiting for the other to give up.

Yes... that's exactly what I'm saying. It's OK crowman, I'm not trying to get Spies nerfed. We can share the glory of the crows with everyone.
I'm not worried about that. Spies is a terrible perk. I just think comparing Spies to Ultimate Weapon shows a real out of touch with the actual strength of Ultimate Weapon.
-
Ruin matchmaking bs you feel entitled to picking your opponents - Killers can currently lobby shop, and that is causing baby Killers to get autofilled against the sweat Killers who didn't want to face 1 P100. This would cause no new problems, and would reduce the amount of lower quality matches.
Lobby dodging messing up quality matches is also a problem. Doesn't mean we should introduce a new problem that makes everyone's queue times skyrocket.
-
Are you really comparing Spies from Shadows which is dependent on crow spawns to a perk that detects all survivors in your TR for the next 30 seconds (so you can move around and find survivors)?
I think ultimate weapon having survivors scream in lockers should be changed even if the devs don't see it as a bug and it would at least have the bare min counterplay that all scream related perks have.
