What's the point of the Kill Switch?

If it's so random when they use it. Something game breaking appears in DBD and they flip a coin for if they actually kill switch it.

  • The bug was discovered over a weekend, when nobody was working.

I'd imagine we'll see some kind of killswitch soon.

  • For disabling things that are broken in a way that either threatens performance or that can be abused for an advantage, historically. They pretty consistently use it for this purpose.

If this is about the latest bug with lockers, hasn't that only been a thing for like a day? Give them a hot minute to deal with it, dang.

  • BHVR usually releases Dev Blogs and Patches around 11am EST (1 hour from now). I would at least wait til noon EST before gathering pitchforks.

Probably just to ensure servers are running, probably not to make any changes to the game code.

  • So, flashlights shouldn't be disabled?

OP posted this before flashlights were killswitched, so pretty sure they were saying the opposite

Right. It took the devs weeks (months?) to deal with Merciless Storm bug exploit. And it isn’t even fully fixed. At least they moved swiftly with this.
