Bhvr generally bans cheaters in waves. A big reason is this makes it harder for cheaters to know what got them caught.
The last time we had a problem this bad, it took a couple months til the ban wave went out.

Ultimate Weapon was nerfed because it gave absurd amount of value for free, literally nothing.
It was comparable to old OoO that gave killer location by simply looking at them.
But OoO have bigger drawback - it also revealed your location, while Ultimate Weapon had 30 seconds (🤡) cooldown
And you could have prevented that free value by running a perk. The same thing killers are being told to do when asking to reduce the strength of Background player, because it's making flashlight/pallet saves too easy.
-
Artist is one of the hardest to killers to master and doesn't perform any better than Nurse or Blight who are quite easier to master. Then on top of that, Artist's power isn't very smooth. Having to hold a button to place crows and then needing to let go of that button and waiting half a second just to fire them makes her feel clunky. Plus the window for follow up shots to deal damage is very short so you have to be very precise on top of the firing crows not being the smoothest interaction.
Plus I firmly don't believe her built-in anti-camp system has a reason to exist. Any killer whose powers can just be disabled under certain situations can create bad feelings and considering her power is great for scouting, not being able to send crows after a hook hurts quite a bit for non-camping gameplay.
If you're looking to master a strong killer with a power that feels smooth to play, Artist will not be one of your top picks.

Just use lightborn if it bothers you so much?
"Oh but I shouldn't be forced to use a perk just to be able to get hooks and do my objective. Besides, sometimes I don't even get any value from it, waste of perk slot"...
Funny, then survivors shouldn't also be forced to use perks to be able to do objectives/get more points/enjoy the game. Perks like deliverance, decisive strike, unbreakable and god knows how many more that you get no value sometimes just because survivor is afraid of killer camping or slugging.
And yet, it's what people always say: Oh, you are being tunneled? Use decisive strike. Oh, getting slugged? Just use unbreakable, easy.
At the end of the day, you just have to use the perk meant for that situation. Didn't get any value? Too bad, maybe next time you will.
Ultimate Weapon literally is getting gutted even though survivors could run Calm Spirit to negate it.
If a counter perk existing isn't enough to stop killer perks from getting nerfed, then survivor stuff is free game for the same reason.
-
Literally every patch notes has a list of bug fixes. It's not that BHVR isn't fixing bugs, it's that a lot of times new bugs get introduced as they add more content to the game. New content is what helps keep the game fresh and playerbase engaged. I don't think you realize how quickly DBD would die if BHVR just stopped introducing new stuff just to focus solely on fixing bugs.

The title of this thread says treat hooks like PH cages, everyone keeps throwing the what if it didn't or that's not what it means, I'm not saying the same effects the cage has the OP isn't saying that they're saying teleport them straight to a hook no pick up, no carry, no killer knowing where they are , that means what I'm saying is correct
I've seen enough suggestions to make hooks teleport like ph cages to know that it's always meant change nothing else but make the survivor teleport after being hooked.

Streamers don't have any special privileges in regards to cheating. Generally companies do ban in waves as to make it harder for cheaters to figure out what got them caught.

You do not

The next step is exactly the same as previously - you flag the match using that thumbs up icon, then send the evidence in via a support ticket. Our team is able to tie up the matches that way. (you do not need to put information on the player you are reporting on the support ticket).
-
You do know that the same players aren't going to suddenly not be cheaters without anon mode. Cheaters have been a problem before anon mode was added.

It worked before in the past, so why would it all of the sudden not work today? It 100% would work with proper tweaking and balance while keeping the fun in the game. Yes, it would be op and it would be random pitting someone with 200 hours up with/against 30k hours.
The only queue related fix should be a "new player grace period" where they get paired with as many other new players as possible who are queuing for so many matches/days. After that period, they join the casual queue.
So like a system where new players start at a baseline value that the matchmaker tries to find players of a similiar value so new players don't get matched against players who have built up a higher value
-
Killer metas have been nerfed a bunch of times. Pain res was even nerfed not too long ago. Ultimately I don't think it matters if bhvr nerfs the current meta, a new one will take place and survivors will still complain.
-
Honestly I think the perks that guarantee a specific item make chests decent but I wish they would work on either opening and scavenging. Otherwise you end up opening a chest and then scavenging just get a toolbox or flashlight.
-
The perk is now just a perk for hook camping. Hook survivor, open locker, and now killer knows if survivors are nearby hook.
This version is going to end up just as disliked bc the only killers running it will be those camping.
-
I think complete reworks don't accomplish anything valuable. All it does is remove a killer that some people enjoyed and not even guaranteed to fix whatever problem people had.

I've actually read that the change from 5 to 3 seconds was done to balance the fact that they changed Enduring to only work on pallet stuns, so it no longer worked against DS.
But yeah, very strange to revert it back to the earlier version. The time of hopping into lockers immediately after being unhooked lol.
The nerf to 3 seconds from 5 seconds happened years after enduring was nerfed. Now there was a lot of people asking for DS to be nerfed due to enduring no longer working on DS, but if DS was nerfed to 3 seconds over enduring changes it's weird they waited so long to do so.
-
The point of the system wasn't to prevent killers from holding 3 gens. It was just to prevent stalling out games to server timeout.
-
The whole point of cages is that they are not hooks. This is a double edge sword, because it means that while Execution doesn't benefit from hook perks, neither do survivors.
-
We can punish slugging for the 4K if hatch gets removed.

Right now the game doesn't tell you that that you've won. So in your system twelve hooks is a win, but it still doesn't tell you that you've won. How is that different?
The tally screen gives feedback and is based around kills.
0-1 kills is "The Entity Hungers…"
2 kills is "Brutal Killer"
3 kills is "Ruthless Killer"
4 kills is "Merciless Killer"
Survivor gets Dead/Sacrificed and Escaped. -
No one is playing killer with the mindset that if they get more hooks, they win. Survivors don't even treat number of hooks as a win condition for killer.
-
You can just take a break until the next rift. Play other games in the meantime.
-
What I would do is add global bp events for survivors.
Gen gets completed? Everyone gets a bit of bp.
Survivor gets unhooked? Everyone gets a bit of bp.
Hex cleansed? Everyone gets a bit of bp.
This wouldn't replace the personal bp for the survivor who does that but should help reduce situations where survivor is chased and hooked and lose our on bp due to gens getting doned.

Instead of insulting op for their apparent "lack of skill", we could actually talk about what they were saying! Imagine that!!
Because they got a point here: If the devs wanted to remove locker saves, why did they leave this in? You would expect grabbing someone out of a locker and grabbing while entering / exiting a locker is essentially the same.
But it isn't, one has blindness protection, the other hasn't. It's perfectly valid to asks about that. No reason to trash talk op for it.
Also in a lot of cases survivors can force grabs this way by jumping into locker during chase then quickly jumping out when the killer is about to open it. Not really a lot of time to walk back and lunge forward to avoid getting sucked until a grab.

I do have a feeling they aren't buffing myers do to the sheer strength of the tombstone addon's but thats just my theory, some killers, like in high MMR need certain Add-on's to even compete
Myers with Tombstone
Knight with map
Legion with Iri button (He has a really bad chase power without it)
What I guess I want to say is, should a killer be balanced if they are only good with add-ons
Myers as a whole needs a lot of work. He's the only killer in the game that can lose his power if the game goes on long enough. We're likely not seeing Myers addon changes until Myers gets looked at and so far that hasn't been a huge priority for BHVR.
-
Basekit powers should be balanced without factoring addons. Killers who have mandatory addons are just an unnecessary tax.
-
So you just want killers to camp the hatch? This is such a bad change for no other reason than to make sure killers will never get a 4K. Which funnily enough if this happened, then killers would just get buffed because now the kill rate is much lower without 4Ks.

As I said, there is nothing ambiguous about a scenario such as 5 gens left and the killer is camping 30 feet away from their first hook, for the sole purpose of ensuring that no one can unhook the person. Is it really about winning at that point? Really? How about a Freddy that downs their first person and then puts pools around rhe person in hopes no one can get them up again? This, for the primary purpose of doing likewise to anyone who dares attempts.
Both scenarios literally just happened back to back. Seems indefensible to me.
There is nothing wrong with the killer contesting unhooks, especially when the survivors are not putting pressure on gens.

But it's also not their duty to make one's experience as miserable as possible.
It's true that in dbd, some people revel in being especially nasty to their opponent. Be that the end game chat or in game bm like tbagging in the exit gate, hitting on hook or the notorious "humping".
Players going out of their way to make their opponent have a miserable time is not a big issue. Most of the time, people take their opponent playing to win as some personal attack on themselves.
-
It's a PvP game. Your opponent playing to win is not inherently toxic nor is it your opponents duty to make sure you enjoy the match.

But those ranks still exist? You can still get up to Iridescent 1 and whatnot. Nothing has changed in that regard. Now there is an added invisible rank value in the background that determines who you get paired with. That's what a ranked matchmaking system is, regardless if its visible or not to the person.
Look, I'm not gonna argue on this point any further, just because that isn't the point of this thread, just that SBMM sucks.grades have nothing to do with matchmaking now and the invisible number ultimately doesn't matter because there's no way to compare them between players.
-
@AquaticCitizen said:

This is just untrue. SBMM has been a known feature for a while and its what determines how you get paired up with other people.
A matchmaking system doesn't make it a ranked system.
The previous matchmaking system, ranks, had a visible value and made it very clear who it was matching you with. That old system was more "ranked" than the current one.

Because a game I used to enjoy playing both solo and with friends is going downhill due to the number of nerfs happening to survivors to make the game less balanced. Did you read the initial post or…?
If you every game you are playing is resulting in you giving up and not playing it out, then you are probably better playing something else. You have no interest in getting better at the game and clearly you don't enjoy the game anymore.
Not really sure how much clearer I need to be here.
-

I don't want to play against them lol. I don't want to be forced to play sweaty because I have to deal with a camper or tunneler every game… and yes… it's getting to the point where it's every game.
If it's happening every game and you refuse to even try to play against these strategies, then I question why you still keep playing DBD.
-
If the game is frustrating you enough, then taking a break is a good idea. Continuing to play while frustrated will not help you enjoy the game anymore. On top of that sometimes people just need to take longer breaks. There's plenty of games to play so it's not like DBD is your only option.
But if you still find yourself not enjoying DBD after taking an extended break then you either need to take a longer break or decide that DBD just isn't your cup of tea anymore. The game has changed over the years and what you enjoy may have also changed over the years. It's fine if what you enjoy and what DBD provides are no longer in sync.
-
@AquaticCitizen said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3701463#Comment_3701463
yeah like I said, I would be fine with just another permanent mode that's just like a "casual" mode or whatever.
The only mode available is casual. DBD has no ranking system.
If you want even more casual than what's currently available, then you can set up custom games.
-
You'll never learn how to play against these tactics if you quit everytime they happen.
It's a PvP game, not every game is going to go the exact way you want it to and if you can't handle that then maybe you should play something else.
-
Are you on Wifi or Ethernet, because I remember trying to play games online at the dorm on the 360 with wifi and it wasn't working out very well. Eventually got an ethernet cable and plugged it into the wall socket and had no more issues.
Anyways, you can't really program an exception to the dc penalty, because there's many ways that the server cannot different that would allow you to bypass the dc penalty. Most OS have airplane mode which can easily be toggled on. You can just force close the application. Really easy to do without needing to get up and unplug the router.
-
The main reason SBMM is as bad as it is, is that everytime BHVR makes the matchmaking more tougher, queue times get longer and the playerbase complains.
Also doesn't help that Content Creators have an incentive to push SBMM bad, because tougher games isn't good for content creation.
-
It took bhvr at least 2 years to address blight's hug tech. Issues involving hitboxes and collisions are not simple fixes for bhvr.
-
@AdaEnjoyer2839 said:
you shouldn't have to sacrifice your perk slots to fix a bad game mechanic, that's obvious, especially if you wanna have fun and experiment with more perks. bhvr can fix slugging just like they fixed facecamping with the free self unhook when the killer stands there for too long. sacrificing yourself = getting yourself out of a bad match or dying to let the last survivor get the hatch if theres only 2 of u. it's obvious to me that free unbreakable with certain conditions is the best way to fix this boring mechanic that a lot of killers abuse. there should always be counterplay to things to actually keep the game fun
Nah you absolutely should be required to use a perk for self pick up.
Slugging is already a highly risky strategy for the killer as it is. You possibly lose out an entire hook state and gain nothing for it. Don't need to make it weaker than it is.
-
No. Adding too many anti mechanics to the game will only result in a single playstyle being viable. If anything the game simply needs to be more rewarding when engaging in other playstyles.
-
You are comparing apples to oranges. Infection on gens doesn't matter once plague has started to infect people, because working on infected gens while fully infected doesn't do anything. It's why she can have addons that increase the duration so high, because it's very early game frontloaded.
-
You as the killer can open an exit gate if you need the pressure from EGC.
Ultimately reaching the end of the game with 3 or 4 survivors still alive is an uphill battle for the killer and while the killer has advantages in securing a final kill, EGC isn't there to cater your ability to secure this last kill. It simply exists so there is a time limit to the end game, because it was much worse when survivors could have both exit gates open and waste the killer's time by not leaving.

@ArkInk said:
He's got a fairly good chase power, he just needs either his old TR back or 115% speed imo. As fun as quickscoping was as killer, it really sucked as survivor because you could be shot basically whenever you were in his LoS.
They also need to remove a ton of the invisible walls so he can do more cool shots! Idk why they started adding them in the first place.
The problem is what made Deathslinger fun to play as just isn't there. Plus people complain that every killer is unfun to play against so I don't see this as a real issue with bringing back quickscoping.
-
@Neaxolotl said:
New ultimate weapon is actually better, distortion is worse than calm spirit because it is more or less token based
I don't think it's necessarily better. Screams are more obvious when the perk has found someone. The aura reading is for 3 seconds only so if you miss a survivor who got revealed by it, you won't know.
-
He's not the worst, but imo he lost a lot of what made him unique since the devs nerfed quickscoping. Plus invisible walls keep getting added to maps and often the trickshots that were possible are no longer possible.

Simple if the cheater doesn't talk in end game chat it's nearly impossible for them to get sniped and banned
There's a reason why bhvr keeps asking for a video/clip when you report a cheater on the forums so they would get the name of the people involved in the match(and now you should see the issue with current anon mode)
BHVR can see who the actual players are on their end. It doesn't matter if their name is hidden behind anon mode. The biggest issue with the system is submitting video evidence as a support ticket as that is just an unnecessary hurdle for many players.
If you reported the player in the end game match, they can look up the match via the report as well.
-
The game is kind of both. Survivors need to work together in order to escape but individually each survivor is capable of losing/winning individually. If it was truly a 1v4 then all survivors would lose or win together at the end of the game instead of separately.
-
It's really not just twins. People will come to with any excuse regardless what you play.
