I'm for it, but also remove all gen progression modifiers as well. Including teaming up on a gen.
-
It's in a good spot, I just want to see certain kits adjusted accordingly.
That and some tile generation is still wonky at times, but that's more of a map issue that effects both sides pretty equally.
-
See I would consider THIS a tech and not some weird glitch with a power/interaction. Pretty neat.

I wish I saw Wesker as much as everyone else seems to, as a Stakeout/Hyperfocus abuser.

Perk should be reworked entirely. I have a special place of hate for Boil Over and I usually let one person out no matter what. Boil Over users do not get this privilege. Unless they are Kate's who are doing adepts (I see Dance with me and no other obvious perks, though running like they have Windows is also a possible sign but Windows is extremely common so hard to know).
As solo 90% of the time it's near useless. 10% of the time it gets value through dumb luck of how the wiggles work/hook placements. As a SWF if the whole team plays around it, it is extremely broken and deliberately used to make other players miserable. Perk absolutely needs to be reworked. It's from a time where the game design was more of Almo's nonsense of 'Insidious Bubba is pretty cool actually' where the goal seemed to be to make the other side miserable through sadistic torture. Everything like this needs to be thrown out.
The fact alone there are places on certain maps where you can go down and no matter what the spawn is and never be hooked is absolutely ridiculous. Even solo you can pull this off. Example is the center building on Disturbed Ward. Going down almost anywhere in there on the top floor with boil over makes reaching a hook impossible. It's not the only spot but it's one of the most common.
More than once, before it got a bunch of stuff changed, Ormand's killer shack wouldn't spawn a hook for me at all. Guess where every boil over user ran to.
Thankfully I haven't ran into that since the changes, but I agree that no map should have that guarantee.
-
I think it's because facecampers have swapped to it after the anti-facecamp was thrown in. I'd also say the 3-gen killers swapped to it as well but I'm not entirely sure on that.
That said, a lot of people have called me a tunneler even though I'd spread hooks or they'd be a 4-stack of the same character/cosmetic and it's hard for me to keep track.
-
My only big gripe is fellow survivors. There needs to be better explanations of game mechanics/powers/etc readily available to help cut down on survivors making bad plays. Even if it's a tad.
-
Hex: Paranoia
After injuring a survivor, they become the obsession and a dull totem becomes a Hex totem. While this totem is lit, any survivor who isn't the obsession hears a faint terror radius indefinitely and cannot become a new obsession by any means, and is inflicted with the Blindness effect for 10/12/14 seconds. When a survivor is within 12/10/8 meters of the obsession, they are not effected by Hex: Paranoia.
Hex: Paranoia becomes inactive when the obsession is put into the dying state, healed or if this Hex is cleansed. Survivors who hear the terror radius are also considered to be 'inside the Terror Radius' for other purposes.

As a on/off SM player, all she really needs is a recall cooldown of like 10-30 seconds after a drone is disabled and the hindered removed and rebalanced onto her haste bonus from clawtrapping survivors. At least in my opinion.
And this is why I lose most of my matches against SM. Nobody disables the drones in loops and they disable the ones at gens to give themselves away.
-
I don't care about graphical updates and new engines to be completely honest.
What I really want to see is a complete health overhaul and fix a ton of the spaghetti code but we're not gonna see that.
-
I think she's fine, could have hindered or haste removed/changed in some way because I feel having both is kind of overkill but she does excel in being kind of a 'jack of all trades' kind of killer. I love running her as a stealth killer for sure.
I will say though, her lore is kinda bad in my opinion. The main problem I have is she's clearly smart and knowledgeable with her being able to create her tools and such but it boils down to her more being a cosplay killer and not really her own person. Feels more like a Batman villain to me than a horror killer.
I do think her lore could be redeemed a bit better if her name was more tied to her dealings in business instead of a Manga adaptation, like ties to the black market or something.
-
I do, but it depends on the map. Maps with very little high walls make it kinda rough.
Which really just makes it a map problem.
-
You'll find a lot of survivors with no perks trying to grind back that 1m BP often, and possibly being a hindrance to you and your team without their perk loadouts unless they're absolute god tier/lucky without perks.

I think they should give us killer bots for that, too. I'd rather people not be held prisoner by a match. I know there are ppl who suicide first hook, but that doesn't happen too often. Now if killer decides to hard tunnel beginning of match they deserve the robots.
That's not the point though?
Why bother playing if most of the players get swapped with a bot all the time? You play online multiplayer to play with others. If everyone ends up DCing for free against bots, why bother grinding BP and just play customs with all bots and have every perk unlocked?
-

Why they just need to get rid of the DC penalty, anyways. I'd rather have a bot than someone killing themselves plus I'm pretty sure the penalty probably adds to longer que times, too.
Because tons of matches wouldn't get played. Especially with killer survivors dislike.
Think of it this way, most survivors will end up leaving early for going down fast/killer they dislike/have the wrong perks on/teammates didn't do what they wanted/list goes on. Sure killers get bots, but this is an online game and believe it or not killers want to try and outplay another thinking person in a video game and not endlessly loop an aimbot that sees you through walls.
And on the other hand, killers could end a match at any time with no penalty. Don't like how the match is going? Deny survivors any more BP and any of their challenges.

No I think the 4% is fine. U only get 3 tries so there's a risk attached already and it's very rare you even get to pull it off.
I mean yeah, but we also have survivors throwing matches because of several reasons using this mechanic. Even if they get the 4%, they usually wait at the hook for the killer to finish them. It's not so much being able to live with it, it's more the problem survivors circumvent the DC penalty with it.
-
Kinda have to agree.
I often find myself upset with what other survivors do as opposed to what the killers do/bring/are these days.
-
Be the change you want to see.
I've started to run builds to help take bodyblocks and assist my team, even though I'm SoloQ and relying on aura perks and often times self care+botony to reset and take more hits for the other survivors to do gens/loop if I'm not the new target.
I'm sure there's other builds to try and assist too. Just read the room and see if it's better to do generators or to bodyblock to extend time for the rest of your team.
-
Skull Merchant. To a degree.
Hate her lore, but I actually have had a lot of fun against them recently. Mindgaming their drones is hilarious sometimes.
Also, I really like playing RPD on both sides. It was pretty easy for me to learn the layout since it doesn't change much at all.

Here is a big idea:
the perk powers up by finishing gens or at least working at gens. For example it gets a token for each 50% of gens you repair and each token gives you 12m of hatch wallhacks. As a Bonus, at 6 tokens you get a key capable to open the hatch. This way you had an awesome fallback plan, but only if you engage in actually playing the game and helping your teammates. Dayum, this perk would be lit with this changes!
Honestly? Not a bad idea.
It's not like hatch is entirely relevant at endgame anyway. Wouldn't matter too much if they got hatch or gate once the gens are done. I like this idea.
-
@Akumakaji said:
Well, actually I don't have much an opinion on Left Behind. By design it is an extremely selfish perk that only serves one pupose: finding the hatch.
In itself that's not bad, but it leads to sandbagging players who just want everyone to die, while they escape through hatch to finish their tome challenge.
If this players die while looking for hatch, they will sabotage another match, so whatever, just let them always see the hatch and be done with it. If a perk only has a singular use case, let it perform that case really well.
Agreed, and it's also tough to buff or change.
You could have it work somewhat like Leader, except as teammates die you receive their buffs. But that would make Leader useless. You could have it give bonuses for each dead teammate, but that's still selfish and works too closely to Sole Survivor.
Really it's tough to try and think how it could be a better perk overall because of it's thematic application.
-
I guess it depends?
Sandbagging teammates, tunneling/slugging killers are still a dime a dozen but I will recognize I've been getting more good matches than bad recently.

That does indeed happen. Looking at you Thompson House upstairs window.
I've gotten to the point where I'll pause chase for them to get the vault because it feels more and more like a stolen hit.
-
I see spirit, hag, pig and knight once every blue moon.
-
Honestly, I remember match times didn't feel too bad when Lights Out was live. And I guarantee competitive would have a longer load time anyway, unless they rewarded something a lot of people would want.
And after seeing so many hyper-competitive players, I think a place for them to be would be nicer. Would make the normal game a little less toxic as well. Just a little.
Only issue is, DBD isn't very balanced for comp.

If it almost never works, then there isn't a reason to remove it. It's fun, it's silly and it keeps some people off gens.
The more creativity you take away from Survivors, the less they have to do except gens.
Isn't that one of the reasons flashlight burns got removed though? Because nobody used it against Nurse?
Heck, CJ tech is so rare I fall for it purely because I come across it once a month or so. Doesn't mean it makes the jank controls fair for either side. Survivors wouldn't accidentally get sucked into a nearby locker when trying to vault next to one, which is probably more often than the CJ tech.
-
Are fingernails being complained about? They're fine in my book.
If any addons need any kinds of change, it's buffs to Pinwheel/Sea-Soaked Cloth, Tape Editing Deck, VCR and Iridescent Tape. Just to name a few off the top of my head.
-
I doubt everyone is unhooking themselves so often on a 4%, most likely using perks and offerings to help, however I will agree the self-unhook is just as outdated as hook grabs or 3-gens to me.
Mainly because survivors use it to circumvent the DC penalty.
That said, I wouldn't remove it without giving some kinda tradeoff. Maybe some mechanic so the hooked survivor can warn nearby survivors the killer is camping? Not sure what that would be, but wouldn't that be better than a way to easily give up and mess your team up?
-
Because none of that matters to the competitive brain, or even really the trolls. All that matters is everyone is alive/most are alive.
- You played bad if you don't meet their expectations, doesn't matter what killer
- If you play good, then killer was carried by a perk/power or you relied on something too much
- If you dare secure a kill, you're the worst killer main and should uninstall
- If 3 gens pop before someone dies, get gud uninstall
I want to clarify this doesn't reflect the majority, I've met wonderful survivor mains myself and I have been inching closer to the 50/50 on both sides in terms of playtime, but I'm not gonna pretend survivors aren't like this in my matches a lot. Especially when I'm branching out and learning what I can/can't do with other killers.
And for extra clarity, there are hyper competitive killers too, just so people don't think I'm being too hard on survivors.
-
Might be because of matches, like the trapper one I just did, where 2 P100 survivors tbag at you everywhere and somehow managed to get to every safe loop, do 5 gens in under 3 minutes even with corrupt/deadlock, and then insult you for securing a kill in endgame.
Why give the other side any leeway when there's so many of these survivors? I don't even play Trapper much, and I get a constant stream of toxic survivors. Maybe about every 5/10 games.
I don't agree with being toxic as a killer, by the way. And sweating sucks and only gets you harder survivors anyway, but when I play a killer I'm not perfect as, is known to be low tier, and still get sweaty toxicity from the survivor side... can you really blame some killers?
-
I do, because I like that challenge.
When there's 4 survivors against 1 killer, I'd say the 40/60 split is the right call. The only problem is other survivors not pulling their weight and actively giving up/sandbagging their team for any number of reasons.
And if we lose after actually trying? Well, sometimes the other team is just better/brought better stuff/had better situations. Aside the obviously broken things like Nurse ignoring loops and whatnot (completely debatable btw) you can't win every match and that's OK.
-
Cheaters say reporting does nothing to try and dissuade players from filling out a report.
For hacking, it helps to have evidence and a report on their main report page to go with the in-game report. That said, chances are they cheat every game they run and will run into so many players reporting them BHVR has to direct their attention to them at some point, and even risk multiple people turning in video evidence.
-
Actually, not really.
The top ones are usually gen regression with Pain Res and Pop. Seeing more DMS+GE is kind of nice, even if it's a new obstacle to work around.
Heck, I'm even seeing more experimenting without any of the perks above, or just one of them with some other oddball perks.
-
I'm a little confused why people want to keep them, they have a very wonky collision with not just insta-down chainsaws, but also projectiles and their collision box is all over the place.
If not removed, they should be fixed better.
-
As a Bamboozle enjoyer, I think they're ok.

I don't think it's to skew data, or because they hate Huntress. Typically when a PTB is released with a new killer, even if it comes with other things... ppl wanna focus on the new killer. This unfortunately means the other stuff doesn't get much testing in the PTB and you'll hear complaints later saying "how did this ever make it to live?"
I remember seeing a vid of a guy trying to test the 3 gen system in the LAST PTB with a 3 gen Hag build. He purposefully 3 genned from the start to test its effectiveness... and ppl DCed or suicided because he wasn't Onryo, Billy, or Blight. The focus was on the killer changes and nothing else. If you wanna test if Nurse functions correctly on a new map (which tends to have lots of nurse problems with maps) ppl will insist you're trying to be sweaty on the PTB.
The problem I see is this will bleed into live post-patch unless BHVR gives off the idea the changes were nerfed/toned down.
I remember post-PTB's of both Skull Merchant and Sadako's 2.0 and current live. Skull Merchant, regardless of how anyone feels about her, still has people giving up on hook and inflating the killrates. We almost all agree on that much. And my experience with Sadako, I still have players give up on hook regardless of how I play. And I am positive it's from mindsets like I pointed out, where a decent margin of players against x killer just give up immediately.
Heck, even if these changes were done without the PTB we'd see this mentality immediately and it spreads pretty quickly.

I mean yes, there's that mouth, but the teaser has a second mouth with human teeth on what looks like it's side.

Both sides need that QoL, and most of the killers being changed REALLY needed it. Huntress is debatable though.
I still hope BHVR helps SoloQ out more down the line, now that killers are getting what they need.

As already mentioned, simply rent the videotape first and then return it as needed.
The management should have taught these basic tactics to the novice survivors, but they don't want to move at all.
It's a shame too, they hired a tired young woman to try and get the tapes back and has to deal with the rowdy customers giving her grief. I even heard they throw pallets in her face, just for doing her job.

I'm sorry but what is this supposed to prove, I believe Huntress could of done that in the past as well, your point?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3655758#Comment_3655758
The balance in this game is a huge problem and the fact BHVR relies too much on raw data that's skewed by things like that, and the only way BHVR can get effective data is to play a killer at different ranges of skill from survivors and see how they perform.
Agreed. Throwing on hook doesn't get that information regardless, however.
BHVR clearly keeps track of the kill rates between MMR, but I'm not sure if they do for each killer. At least, they don't show that. Worst case scenario, they do massive changes to appease the survivors throwing on hook or giving up (like they did with Sadako, said as much on a developer stream) or slightly bad, they ignore the criticisms because mid/high tier survivors aren't struggling and SoloQ low MMR is full of players giving up and dragging their teams down.
Either way, feeding kills to the killer doesn't reflect well on what the killer can do to their personal best against survivors at their personal bests. At the very least, Sadako is in a better spot, but I fear if that trend happens every time a mass amount of survivors throw on hook BHVR will end up nerfing a killer worse than they originally were at.
Then again, Skull Merchant still exists so she's a good argument against my own. Only time will tell.

It's not to skew the data, they just realized how busted Huntress is and there's no denying it. I would do the exact same because I didn't play the PTB to experience huge buffs to an already balanced killer that came from the devs having a brain fart or something along those lines.
https://twitter.com/RNIN_St1v1/status/1759992506056425727?t=YZtjl7BtrgqQfmgcCkML9w&s=19
Try to justify this video.
I'm sorry but this mentality is the real problem.
Claiming it doesn't skew the data, but doing it anyway to inflate the kill rates even more is exactly what skewing the data is. If Huntress, or any killer, was getting massive amounts of kills then it should be reflected by the pure stats. This is why stats are usually taken with a grain of salt because even 5% could be contributed to things like survivors throwing on hook or killers letting all 4 survivors free.
Players spread this stuff like wildfire because they lose a few matches and don't put in the work to test these things heavily, just demand reverts and changes, nerfs, buffs, etc without letting it have a chance. And to clarify, I do think the Huntress changes are a bit much, but throwing games isn't the way to go. You want BHVR to see accurate stats? Then play the matches to your best ability.
-
I'd still like to see more of his addons changed, but it's good to see them slowly changing them anyway. Also, VERY cool your idea was adapted, even if the developers didn't see your suggestion. (Unless they did, which in that case I raise my glass to OP.)
It's the little victories.
-
I think the community likes to overhype something that isn't confirmed a lot, which is why I held my breath until release.
Looking at the times it was teased, it's clearly using animations from the lobby just edited in the doorbell camera teaser.
The tent teaser is interesting though. It had what looked like a second mouth and eyes, which possibly either means a skin that will come with it, or it implies the creature swaps it's skin depending on who it attacks.

Yeah I did a quick read through since the dbd wiki makes it easy to read unlike the actual game where the text is small the voices part made me think of skin walkers since they mimic victims voices to lure people in. Plus the idea that it's technically doesn't have a form by the looks of it instead relying on what it's next victim/s think it looks like is cool so I am thinking that outfit wise maybe other then the usual recolors and such it might have a legion thing where it will appear as different people hopefully they do something like Leatherface(minus the major problem that got the masks removed) and release an outfit or two of the Unknown but as for example Dwight just extremely twisted up.
I've actually been wondering if the creature we see in-game is using a 'Dwight' outfit. It's pretty similar, and we know The Realms involve multiverses due to Haddie's lore. It would be nice to see if this is the case, with future skins being the others.
-
From what I understand, the lore is trying to explain The Unknown is exactly that, unknown. Trying to uncover the unknown makes you it's target, and becomes a problem in missing people's cases due to the very nature of the creature. Most of it's addons also seem to be keepsakes or referring to people it's taken away and/or killed ranging from children to even serial killers (based on the sketch attempt addon coming from a boy and homemade mask for the latter.) It's Iridescent addons are also based on solid evidence or a documentary on The Unknown itself.
At the very end of it's lore, it's explained the Entity and it's mysteries are pretty similar but entirely different, even ending with the Entity taking it into their realm right before an investigator is killed by The Unknown.
-
Horror is subjective, I've said this a lot since I joined this game. Some people are afraid of Chucky and yet he does nothing for me. Same with Clown, Legion, Plague, Twins, etc etc.
This thing? Absolutely send chills up my spine. I'm a big fan of internet creepypasta (the better written ones, at least) and this thing, while not being stellar lore wise but acceptable, visually creeps me the hell out with it's movements.
-
Not sure about gen blocking, but the concept is kinda cool and I agree.
I do think the one we have (for all the downsides of taking a ton of time to complete and force one survivor to have No Mither basically) should give all the generators, or a random # of gens depending on how strong this would be, a 5% reduction in repair times kinda like a BNP. But that would need some testing.
Aside that, the idea that survivors can be given another side objective with their perks is nice, but they need to be appealing enough to run otherwise genrush will still be the best choice.
-
I like Bob actually.
It means I can also call him Robert.
-
The perks could be tuned better, I'd even want that Invocation to be much stronger for the requirement needed but I'll need to see it in a real match to decide. Maybe make all gens have the same effect as a BNP (but possibly much, much weaker. 5% of a gen?) since one survivor will be broken and it takes a chunk of time to complete, in the basement no less.
Otherwise this is a solid original chapter, and the more I'm trying out Unknown the more I'm actually kinda digging his projectile. I hope they make the bounce more consistent though.
