It's just frustrating. 🥺
I know and I sympathize, but you will not find any different answers than what you have already seen. And insisting on it might simply bring you even more frustration

Its circumstantial, but most importantly the downside isn't enough to offset getting the functions of a 5th perk. It needs more stipulations that keep it in line with other similar abilities, and since boons themselves are centered around essentially needing the killer nearby to work, it makes a massive outlier in its counterplay potential due to being effective at the opposite corner of the map. It dominates 3 gens, ruins stealth and hit and run playstyles, and further devalues injuring survivors as opposed to either downing/hooking/killing them.
Think of it like this: If plague's power didn't inflict broken, how much weaker would it actually be? That stipulation is extremely important to how the rest of her power works, like the fountains. Healing is slower than using a fountain to cleanse, but that downside isn't as much as giving her the ability to spit bloodpuke. The concept surpasses the efficiency shift at face value alone.
I don't know, really. I just know that it doesn't bother me and that I often can turn the existence of that boon into an advantage for me.
As far as ruining hit and run and stealth, I main wraith, who is literally both things in 90% of his kit and I really don't mind or feel negatively affected by it.
I'm not arguing with your logic, just stating that my experience is quite different from that.
-
I really don't have a problem with survivors running to the same spot on the map every time I hit them, only to slowly heal.
At worst, they waste a lot of time. At best, once I figure where it is, I can let the survivor go, then reliably find him there and down him with wraith. It works a lot more than you might think
-
Bully squads are my favorite games. I can enjoy chasing them around and not worry about gens being done xD

could be, he didn't use his deadhard so maybe it looked like I was not that close
It has happened to me a couple times. Since I monitor my network traffic normally, I can tell both times I had heavy packet loss when something like this happened to me.
-
It might also be that heavy desync allowed you to catch up on him and down him and when the client validated the down it all crashed down.
-
Would be hilarious if they would do it, match against total potatoes and 4k at 5 gens, then state that the trickster is perfectly fine as is and might even need a small nerf.
-
Sure, it's a terrible thing to do. It's also quite unproductive to further discuss this, sadly.
All I can offer is my sympathy

Has anyone noticed how effective NOED has become since 6.1.0?
I've started running it in a few games, and it seems like it's actually become more viable than before if for no other reason than the fact that survivors don't expect it. It's completely saved matches, especially on my more gamble-y anti-chase M1 killer builds with no slowdown.
Before 6.1.0, I'd be lucky to get one down with NOED before someone would find it and take it out; it usually didn't last more than 30 seconds. These days, it'll usually last long enough to get real value out of it, because they just don't bother looking for it anymore.
Its nerf can also be used to your advantage depending on the situation. As soon as you get your first down with it, they're going to be heading straight for it, which means you know exactly where they're going to be for 20 seconds or so. And if you manage to hit one of them while they're cleansing, you can hook right next to the totem. gg.
As per your title, I would like to make the following change.
NOED will now stand for No One Expects Dead.
-
I dunno. I play wraith a lot. He is actually my favorite killer now and though he definitely has his weaknesses and is extremely addon dependant, I feel like I can do well with him on almost every situation, even against really good teams.
I mean I don't know my mmr or if I'm playing top of the crop players or what, but I have definitely been against very efficient teams, who know how to loop and everything and I have managed to get 3 and 4 kills and really fun matches.
Of course I have also been stomped, but I can tell that I made mistakes that costed me the match. Never felt like I didn't have a chance.
I don't feel this with Ghostface. So definitely wraith is stronger in my book.
-
The power role is not the one who "wins more" but the one who has the ability to lead the course of the game. Like if the killer wants to stop from repairing this Gen he can force you to, but if you want to make the killer move or anything really, well you can't.
-
Meh. I'm still happy with enduring, bamboozle, spirit fury and pain resonance, all of which are free.
One solid slowdown is all I need when I can have fun chasing survivors as an unstoppable force.

The idea is you would press a button to put away your weapon to move like 10% faster, not wraith speeds. It could give every killer in the game (those who need it) some map pressure which quite a few killers really need. It could be like 20% provided the cooldown is long enough.
For some reason, bathing suit trapper came to mind....
Briefly flexing and then sprinting out with perfect racing form, eyes fixed on the survivor ahead....
-
Nah. It's just a rationalization mean people in general use so their actions seem less reprehensible, so the society accepts them (actions) and they can feel good about themselves without the need to change their behavior.
Bonus points for making the victim actually feel bad for "taking things out of proportion"
Nevertheless, these online bullying actions are similar to a tiny chihuahua barking to the top of its lungs. Annoying and offensive, but ultimately harmless and projects no power from them over you. A person with a reasonably healthy physche should be able to shrug off this or even have fun at their expense.
Not to say that this isn't a problem.
somewhat frail individuals might suffer from this, and for them to have to "endure" it or abandon an activity they probably take refuge on to begin with is unreasonable and discriminatory.
-
I mean, claudette with her free prestige clothes is already the ultimate master of the Way of the Bush, so I wouldn't exactly call this pay to win...
-
Pig.
-
No please. I don't want to get any more survivor dailies that I don't want to do than what I already get.
-
And then I play wraith with purple all seeing or scratched mirror Myers and they run out tokens because I have no terror radius XDDDDD.
I kinda love it.

I think you don't know what we were talking about. Please read the previous posts again.
If you say so. I'm pretty sure I read it all, but was mostly answering to OP.

This kind of sounds similar to asking for a solution to the "gens being done" problem.
I mean I get that face camping is such a deviation from normal gameplay that it is certainly a problem and would be nice to have a solution for it, but tunneling? I don't think it should be treated the same.
When a killer tunnels, he finds, chases, downs and hooks the survivor, for a total of 3 times, all of this while the survivor already enjoys the recent anti tunnel buffs that actually make them a harder target than the remaining survivors.
For all this tasks the killer needs to accomplish the survivor has options and counterplay: looping and efficient use of map resources can make a chase last a very long time and heavily punish the killer. The combination of celerity, endurance and a judicious use of bodyblock actually makes hiding a viable strategy when chased right off the hook in many (admittedly not all) situations. I have done this several times in solo queue and it's the extremely punishing for the killer because he does not even get to down you after searching for you.
When the killer downs you there is also counter play. Flashlight saving, saboing and body blocking might turn this around.
All the while, at least 1 survivor can be on gens at all times, or 2 if the tunneled survivor can do with only one support.
At any point is survivor agency denied when a killer tunnels them. In fact the tunneled player might very well be the one who has the most fun out of the match. Pity the poor sod that has to sit on the Gen the whole time while you are being chased.
I understand this might not seem like it when the tunneled survivor goes down in 10 seconds after burning through endurance and celerity. It's not because tunneling is this autowin invincible tactic, the issue is other, deeper one, that can only be quenched by playing and becoming a better player through practice. But coming here and stating that tunneling "has to go" because it's a problem does not help with that.
-
I would buff coxcombed clapper so it shows up more in the bloodweb. Only 3 on my last 0 to 50 bloodweb.
-
Shadow dance and serpent wraith thrives on kicking gens and uncloaking right on top of the survivors. Pair with brutal strength and eruption for extra value and fun.
And if they have the gall to not let go the Gen, uncloak on their behinds and hit them anyway.
-
life is too short to let something like that stop you. Personally I let 2 people go because I feel so inclined, but I enjoy this, I dont do it because I mind what the others will think of me. I do care about their gameplay experience, but thats diferent.
however, if what you desire is to play and win harder, then by all mean do so. Be the big bad wolf. Emnbrace that persona and enjoy it. God knows even I love to play the villain every now and then. And villains dont care,
-
Meh. It's just cosmetics. It's not like the game suddenly became pay to win or that you MUST purchase them, lest you would be at a significant disadvantage.
Sure, I can understand that some people who really like cosmetics aren't pleased, but I would not go as far as calling this predatory tactic, since they aren't depredating those who can't afford it or won't.
I actually largely prefer games who choose to monetize further (and yes, I know this isn't a free game) via cosmetics, rather than gameplay advantages, because then I can just ignore it and play.
Nevertheless, hopefully the persons behind this decisions will recapacitate and find a middle ground so that everyone can keep enjoying what they currently do from DBD.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/349485/how-to-give-non-mobility-killers-mobility
I saw a great idea in a forum post which suggested that the trapper can use an ability that lets him put away his weapon to go faster. The idea of this was to allow him to quickly rush to a survivor who stepped in a trap before they could escape. I however think this idea could actually work for all low mobility killers where they put away their weapon to get a move speed boost. It should have a coming out cooldown so it cant be used in loops at all, but it would really help low tier killers especially with getting between gens or on bigger maps.
Essentially wraith without the stealth?
Can wraith move faster then?
-
Even 10 would be enough. Latency, ping variation, noise and upload ratio is more important than the bandwidth above like 8Mbps.
Bandwidth is more important if you are intending to upstream or downstream video, though as that does requires to move tons of data depending on source video.

There’s a VERY SMALL % of killers that will farm in this situation. I’m referring to the VAST MAJORITY of games that happen all day long.
I dunno if the relative number of killer players that would make that choice is many, even or few. All I know is some do. Myself, if a survivor DCs on the first couple minutes of the game start, I'll just let the rest go.
Maybe I'm a reject of the killer hive mind
-
It's funny when people just generalize what "we killers" think, like some kind of hive mind or the Borg collective
-
Of course. Addon less wraith sounds like fun. Who wouldn't want to play as that?
Oh, wait....
-
Meh. I do change loadouts depending on what my gut tells me about the players in the lobby, but I don't use anything specific depending on items. Flashlights can be dealt with without the help of perks and often turn into an advantage for me.
I simply swith to my strongest build when I suspect skilled players or stacked 3-4 SWFs, which is typically heavy chase and info, with a helping of pain resonance, or penti plaything + chase, depending on the killer.

I see! I haven't nor will i ever join they're games and if im doing bloodweb and don't get my op add-on(s) i will leave the room.
It's a perfectly valid take.
I don't necessarily agree, but expecting other people to feel obligated to participate in something that they just don't want to, specially in a game, which it's purpose is to be enjoyed, is downright aberrant.
Leaving a room hardly harms anyone anyway, so no reason to be judgmental, unlike giving up on hook or DCing, which I do find reprehensible.
-
If I suspect a hard game I'll just load into my strong build.
If I'm in a weak killer I know I can't perform, so be it.
Life's too short to be afraid to lose on a video game.

Bad room service, no amenities. Good views, comfortable beds.

Couldnt have said it better.
They need to buff solo to SWF level and then balance everything according to that.
Yes, this is exactly what I think as well. And this equalization should be done very aggressively, not half baked tweaks.
Full voice communication must be added to the game as base, with an opt out toggle for those who would rather not take part (talk only, listen only and no comms). Basic "status" buttons for those who opt out, so they still have some basic communication.
Even if this were to be implemented, SWFs would still be stronger in most cases, but that strength would stem from the logical natural coordination that exists between members of a pre-made team, which is absolutely fair and deserved. However the gap between them would be much smaller, since there would no longer be tools that are outright exclusive to SWFs.
-
The thing is, the gap between solo and 3-4 stack, even if they aren't playing super efficiently, is a real thing. General buffs to survivors does not address this gap, and it's balanced out by buffs to killers, which turns the whole thing into an arms race between SWFs and killers, with solo being caught in between.
Communication is a key element that's necessary to implement as base kit for survivor.
-
Leviathan's realm from hellraiser franchise.
-
That would be awesome. Also I don't think it's feasible, because the amount of work it would take.
-
Sure, why not? It happened with civilization and nuclear ghandi.
-
Hummm. I find this video exceptionally biased and misleading.
I mean she is obviously a very skilled twins player, but her gameplay choices appear to be tailored specifically to exacerbate the effect of the slugging mechanics. This is to the point to make the match look staged, even if it wasn't.
Honestly if she wanted to kill them by hook, she could have done so very easily and in a fraction of the time the match actually lasted.
Of course, if you are dead set on pushing a 4 slug win at 5 gens, of course the anti slug changes are going to be a major problem, but otherwise, this is not representative of a regular match and is uninformative.
I'm also curious about what she calls out as bullying. I mean I didn't see anyone teabagging or clicking the flashlight, or even outplaying her by any significant degree. She comes out as an extremely susceptible person.
-
Puppetmaster, perhaps?
It's a pretty creepy movie, if dated.

that's.....quite impossible atm
Ok. To further address some of your points, yes, this forum is choke full of posts of people who complain constantly about all the things they are dissatisfied about the game.
However it's unsafe to assume they represent the majority of the player base.
The reason for this is because people who are content with the game tend to not be very vocal. DBD enjoyers like myself do come to read the forum, I do so several times a day, but most are not compelled to reply a ton, or make several posts a day about how much fun we are having. Would rather play.
So yeah, what you got here in this post of yours is a small sliver of that inconspicuous player base.
I'm having fun. I play for fun. I think people who play dbd should be having fun. I think dbd is overall pretty good. I don't post to state this on a daily basis. And I think if someone isn't having fun on DBD, they probably should spend their leisure time on anything else that provides that much needed enjoyment.
Failing that, we could always play some matches just for fun. Do be aware, I'm a crappy survivor.
-
To have fun.
Failing that, you could play to obtain satisfaction from winning.
Failing that, you probably should reconsider the time you spend on this game.
Ultimately, the objective of playing a game is to have an enjoyable time.
-
Nah. It's not like I can switch to plague when I see 4 medkits in the lobby.
-
No, because there are few things funnier than a survivor jumping through the wrong window in dead dawg and discovering its a trap.
-
Wait, someone is turning the community into weapons?
When did that happen?
-
I mean if 4 survivors get slugged at 5 gens before anyone is able to get themselves up, there is a deeper problem there....
-
Game is overall fine and pretty fun.
Sabo flashlight squads are one of the easiest to beat organized teams by far.
-
I can tell you don't play him. It's actually a little bit more complicated than that. You see, pinhead can't actually spawn the hook right next to the survivor, there is a small exclusion zone around you, similar to nurse's blink. In order for this "insta hit" kind of move, the killer has to predict your path a little bit so you are very close to the chain AFTER spawning it (there is a small delay).
Counterplay? When you see him ready his power, strafe and be unpredictable so he can't predict as easily and it becomes mindgamey.
