Knight, to me, is basically a Killer you must play in the super "boring" comp way. He's a very macro heavy Killer.

Ironically enough, I do find him similar to Trapper. Find an area of the map, herd people into it, destroy the pallets and hold the gens. He's great at pressuring multiple people, tunneling, camping and holding 3-gens. Most loops aren't good at slowing him down either.

I can definitely see why the majority of players dislike playing him (let alone playing against him) but I do find him to be pretty fun.

I see. He is not for me then. I can't be bothered with tactics such as hard enforcing a 3 gen, I find camping unsatisfying, though I'm not against tunneling if the situation presents itself (sometimes you just keep running into the same survivor over and over, and I ain't gonna just pretend I didn't see them).

I like to roam the map and relentlessly chase survivors like an angry bull.

Wesker and Knight are getting boring, there isn't any challenge anymore. None of the teams I face are good, so I decide to swap to Onryo.

And then I instantly get a (according to them) competitive team. I haven't played Onryo in months and this match did not go well for me lmao I only got 7 hooks

Needed that ego check and a reminder that I can always improve more, wish I could get those people WHEN I PLAY KILLERS I LIKE TO PLAY

I would love to see you play with knight then. Honestly I just can't get the hang of him. I do well enough against "normal" teams, but as soon as I run into efficient gameplay I just can't keep up with them.

To quote the trapper, 4 minutes into the trial I get a "when did I loose control of the situation" moment

  • Would rather see a quick spend feature.

Hold the middle node to let the game decide what you get and immediately move to the next lvl.

Perhaps with an option to prioritize new perks or a single bloodweb addon, item or offering.

  • To some extent, but not quite. The truth is I'm not skilled nor patient enough to use DH or SB effectively and I don't like lithe and BL restrictions. Overcome works OK with me but I don't just run in a straight line until I'm down. I can run loops decently and know how to use resources well, overcome helps me be more bold and once I make a mistake it often allows me to make the chase not worth it for the killer and depending on the situation gain enough distance to actually hide and evade chase. It just works with my game style.

  • And here I am, running overcome in my survivor builds....

  • I can't imagine playing wraith without addons, but sure. For data's sake.

  • All that begins must end at some point.

That being said I see myself having fun with DBD for the foreseeable future as I find little reason not to.

Pessimistic? Optimistic? This ain't political for me. I don't really think about DBD that much.

  • Nah, it's OK.

Make Gen completion time a constant, with the ONLY thing affecting it being multiple survivors working together.

Then make hook progression also a constant with the only thing affecting being unhooks. Survivors can still attempt to unhook themselves up to 2 times but loose 2000 survival BP per failed attempt. Failing skill checks during struggle phase deducts 200 points while hitting them adds 200.

Make total hook progression 115 seconds so that a face camping killer can be realistically punished by loosing up to 3 gens while still giving time to the survivors to mount a last moment save.

Then, balance everything else around this. Chase perks, info perks, hexes, boons, exhaustion, utility, everything goes except Gen time and hook progression modifiers.

Going wild while at the same time preserving balance would be a lot easier if the two things that can end the game are a constant value.

Then you're one of the few people that seem to still play this game for fun instead of for winning. The fun part of this game is the chase, not pressing Spacebar on gens and half committing until you get an easy down or someone DCs, and yet it seems like that's all killers are doing nowadays.

Honestly I wish it was easier to meet cool survivors to play with, a killer (outside custom games)

I like winning, as much as everyone I guess, but I also want everyone to have fun and sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in a dozen games that thinks this way.

Like, I have had really enjoyable, but demanding matches against strong SWFs and streamer teams and I'm left wanting an "Ask for rematch" button. That would be cool.

With Eruption, the gameplan is to kick every single gen you see. Then you win. You can also hold a 3 gen brainlessly by just kicking every gen and half committing to a chase until you get a down.

Honestly I can't be bothered to go stop to kick a Gen. I would rather overwhelm the survivors by chasing and hooking and shred through resources.

The times I did try eruption I found that the extra time I took to get value out of it gave survivors time to be in a stronger position and even extend chases enough for the Gen I kicked to get finished.

I just don't think it's that good overall, but people think it is.

It certainly is awesome against very new players with sub 20 second chases, but those players will loose to anything.

  • The only change needed is:

Disappear all regresion and slow down perk.

    Disappear all Gen speed perks.

  • I must be doing something wrong because as killer I just find eruption... Not that useful... I prefer pain resonance as my regresion perk along with my standard bamboozle, enduring and spirit fury.

  • It's actually reportable. As you describe it it would be griefing and working with the killer.

However I don't think a lot of players start a match ready to start recording at the press of a button and sadly reporting without video evidence won't go anywhere.

  • I suppose that survivor hitboxes overlapping would create a lot more troubles than it could fix.

There is also the fact that bunch of survivors panicking could interfere with one another does make sense.

It's a shame that this can also be used in such a disgusting way

  • It means that if you were halfway through from 30 to 31, gaining an immediate rift level will leave you halfway through 32.

However that message is not related to unlocking premium rift. It's related to immediately gaining rift tier level.

Unlocking premium at any point during the rift will indeed award all rewards from tiers you already completed

  • Frustrate me?

Mmm. Sometimes when I load into a game the games doesn't recognize my controller input for movement (yet it functions fully in the menus).

This forces me to either swith to KB&M, which I don't like because I play comfortably from my couch, go afk and wait for the match to end so I can close and restart the game or just DC and take the downtime.

It's annoying because I have no way to predict this will happen. Bonus points when I choose the second option and the survivors decide to not do gens and flock around me, vaulting pallets nonstop and such.

  • I main wraith, and have done so for quite some time.

He is definitely not too strong, but he is also not as weak as some make him out to be.

He is strong enough to do well in most situations if you play him right.

His main weakness is that he is extremely addon dependant. With his good combinations he can be a real threat, but using with his worse addons makes him almost useless in a lot of scenarios.

As far as perks go, I did try those shiny revamped kick meta perks, along with shadow dance and serpent and found that I do better with my normal chase heavy perks than I do with kick perks, so in my humble opinion, those perks don't really factor that much in how strong wraith can be.

  • Mmm

I agree that last 2 survivors should have a last ditch fighting chance.

Basekit UB isn't it in my opinion.

Something more radical could be funnier.

Like strong buffs to last 2 survivors IF the last man standing attempts a rescue to its mate.

  • I have had moderate success with him by playing as an m1 killer and treating his power as an utility skill rather than a conventional active ability.

I send them to scout or disrupt progress while I'm otherwise occupied chasing or defending a different objective. I hook, send a guard on one direction and go the other way, making survivors waste more time to get to the hook.

Also I switch a lot between just chasing and mindgaming the loops and using my guard.

Skilled survivors often will immediately abandon a loop expecting me to try to use my guard, only for me to follow them and hit them in the deadzone. Next time I'll use the guard after entering the loop. A good trick here is to move through the loop until leaving it forces the survivor back where he came from, to an already spent loop.

Also learn which pallets to leave down. Some become dead traps.

RPD front desk pallet for instance becomes impossible to escape from and very easy to get a double tap on.

Heavy hex or heavy chase loadouts work well for me. I do prefer hex build.

He is still not quite as strong as other killers, but I feel I can mostly do well with him in most situations.

  • Scratched mirror Myers works for this.

You can try it the regular way, but if you are struggling and don't mind throwing a game, you can just be friendly and show the survivors you want them to repair the Gen, grab one, let them wiggle off, repeat and be done.

Also wraith with coxcombed bell and sooth "the ghost" works very well on enclosed gens if you are careful

  • At this point in the game, investing developmental resources on him, yes, most likely would be a waste of time and money for the company.

Those who are interested on him most likely already acquired him. Those who have not, are unlikely to regardless of changes made.

Whatever returns they might get from reworking him would almost certainly not break even with the direct expenses of doing so, let alone the indirect expenses or cutting a profit.

I don't really know how to explain it better.

  • Because changing them in a meaningful way would require A LOT of work, but that isn't likely to be translated into monetary profit because they are old stuff, so it would just be a waste of time and money that could be otherwise spent creating brand new content to sell, thus enabling the continued existence of the game as a whole.

  • 1) give solo queue survivors advanced communication tools, including optional built in voice chat, status icons and on demand basic info relaying buttons.

    2) remove all perks and tools that affect Gen repair speed. No Gen speed up, no Gen defense, at all, make it a constant.

    3) buff killers and balance the rest of the game around the previous 2 changes.

  • Forfeit your match and jump into a snowman yourself and mess around in it. Eventually a survivor will join up.

  • By GF you mean ghost face right?

  • Purple all seeing wraith.

I just do better with him than with any other killer.

  • I don't endorse unwarranted DCs nor do I DC from matches unless network issues or something like that, however I have to admit that there is a bit of a double standard here?

Some are concurrently stating that the killer does not have any obligation to play in a way that respects the other players fun, yet the person DCing does have such an obligation and is expected to just "suck it up"?

I mean I a relatively friendly killer main and I do like that everyone has fun my games, but I can't ignore this incongruence

  • I guess the overwhelming majority of profit oriented enterprises and companies can be called greedy. I think there is a difference between being greedy and expecting customers to pay for products and services provided, but there is definitely a line somewhere.

Overall I don't perceive them to be remarkable in their marketing efforts, in either direction.

Perhaps your expectations are a bit unreasonable?

  • Rebecca's sounds when I'm carrying her makes me uncomfortable...

    DbD is unbalanced

As a assymetrical game with this much variety it has to be

The real headscratcher is why people expect/want it to be not

I can understand wanting to shave of the extreme outliners but too many people think a balanced game = a good game

And sadly it isn't, a balanced game = a boring game cause you can predict what will happen

In the current state of the game a game can swing completely in favor of a trapper with 2 lucky traps near basement despite him overall being regarded the weakest killer

The more you bring everything to an equal level, the less surprises you'll get and that result in a stale game

DbD is unbalanced, and thats why it has been such a succes

    I heartily agree with you.

I’m someone who is impatient and I don’t like to wait to earn shards to buy stuff so if I want something I’m just gonna use the auric cells and get it. 😆😆But I can still see the issue that people are bringing up.

This whole thing has just become a case of the kettle calling the pot black.

Those who consider this an issue want those who doesn't to stop disregarding their concerns and making posts about them.

Those who consider this an overreaction want those who doesn't to stop arguing about it in posts.

In the end the forum is a recipient for both opinions and others as well. Or at least it should be. So long as everyone follow basic civility guidelines (and forum rules).

I would ultimately suggest that everyone just focus on what they want to discuss with others who share their viewpoints and nevermind the others if they can't interact in a non destructive manner, but then we would be back to telling each other what we think they should or shouldn't do.

Gee, this is why we can't have nice things.

opposite, it would buff killers at high-level play but do nothing for low-level. a 5 hour survivor is not going to know how to use red glow to there advantage while 5000 hours survivor pays close attention to red glow and uses it to loop. Another one of those hand-holding survivor mechanics.

I dunno on what level I play. I do know I play mostly against a mixture of competent and very skilled survivors who know all the basics and some more.

My red stain has allowed me to win more than a few mind games against very good players. The knowledge of it existence brings double mind games to the table. When I have undetectable, skilled survivors tend to wait on the safe spots until they can see me, which makes chases longer overall.

Newbie players, as you state don't usually understand or attempt mindgames related to the stain, so the survivor simply gauges the killer distance and movement direction with it. Remove and they will get bamboozled in low visibility loops and get ambushed or camp the pallet like dummies. Which is why undetectable is very strong against new Survivors.

  • This would nerf killers on high level gameplay and buff them in low level game.

Kind of the opposite of what you want, so I don't think it's a good idea.

  • But it's just cosmetics.... I mean you absolutely do not need them to play the game. In mobile games they put then "new power crept unit" that you need to stay competitive or in games like AC, a powerful weapon that without it there are things you can't do or would take a long time.

Cosmetics?... There is no one who needs them. At all.

  • I don't get all the complaints either, but just let them vent about it.

It's most likely people who want to complain about something all the time, they'll probably calm down after a while and find something else to complain about.

  • I guess I see your point. I have seen a lot of survivors trying to hide in bushes when I'm running all seeing wraith XDDDDD.

Not that it's a bad thing. I don't like the idea of too predictable a game.

  • I have always found sprint burst far stronger. Gives the most distance and can be used completely out of the blue by skilled survivors who know how to 99% exhaustion.

  • So.... Is Fomo the new rotative forum topic?

  • Make that beach map + swimsuit trapper.

  • It's not the game. It's the people. And people like this are everywhere in every aspect of life.

  • I mean, it's not like "party game" is an insult per-se.

Sure, some people call DBD a "party game" with an insulting intent, but they do so sarcastically.

I don't see why any developer would feel offended by it.

  • I have always thought that Gen speed and Gen slowdown perks should simply not exist in DBD.

Make Gen completion a fixed value and let perks do other different things that promote interaction between the players.

    Chase perks, info, stealthing, etc.

Gen speed is such a fundamental factor in the balance of dbd that as long as players can manipulate it, balanced gameplay will never exist.

  • Many ideas have been proposed. However I find it unlikely that any of that will be implemented

Yeah, it actually is. How do you find? Does it follow the sequel curse or nah?

Actually, kinda. The previous one drew significantly more attention, xD.

Nevertheless I don't find either more productive than the other.

Trying to Reach a concensus on something like this is an exercise in futility.

    Nevertheless I understand both povs.

  • Probably because Clever is actually Revelc backwards which in turn is an anagram for Elverc, which is likely an offensive word to refer to some minority. It's a very advanced censor IA
