Statistics are a load of nonsense anyway and trying to understand this game through them is a waste of time.

All I know is that it better see a good buff. Otherwise, another new survivor perk mechanic thrown to the garbage at the start line. Just like teamwork perks and to a certain extent, boons as well.
Teamwork perks were never a real mechanic anyway, there was no reason to name them as if they were unique. I think they only did it because BHVR expected people to use them together but then made them too weak to bother with.
-
If it was buffed, I could see it as useful for the final 3 generators. If your teammates can pressure them and keep the killer distracted, the perk would have a benefit by adding repair progress even if your teammates are getting run off from the generators. But currently the effect is too weak to justify the time investment.
I like the idea of it working like a BNP but for all generators on the map. That would be worth it, because it would be a benefit that can't be undone by the killer.

There's a difference between appreciation and appropriation. When the myths are incredibly clear that the creature should not be mentioned, to the point where certain people within a culture will refuse to tell the stories, write them down, or be anywhere near a retelling because of their beliefs, I'd say you should respect that.
There are other cultures which are substantially more open than indigenous culture, and I agree with BHVR in respecting the more closed, private nature of it.
Someone, somewhere, will always be offended by something. But you must see that turning a creature some refuse to even acknowledge for fear of bad fortune into a basterdised Internet atrocity for a horror game that'll be forgotten in a few months in liu of the latest licenced chapter or big anniversary is not quite the same as that.
Native Americans don't have one big singular monoculture. There are hundreds of tribes across America that all have their own different folklore and mythology. Some may have the taboos, but others don't. Some may want to be "closed", but others do not. Do not paint them all with the same brush, acting like all Native Americans tribes are the same is disrespectful to their individuality.

As much as i hate feng, people are overrating the new survivor😭
Her lore is pretty bad, a lot of it comes off as trying too hard, way too hard. It's almost wraps around to endearing.

Nah, nothing is going to topple how much nerds can drool over an Asian hardcore gamer grrl. As others said, Sable as the dark 'n' edgy "I'm not like other girls" girl appeals to a different kind of nerd.
I hope Sable gets a variety of cosmetics instead of being a one-note goth.

And let us not forget the fact that the survivors somehow all got their hats off before he even got one hook, did he never hook them after putting their hats on? Something is odd here.
And new Pig is damn lethal in all loops in my limited experience. If they don't drop the pallet and you crouch by it, there is nothing they can do against the ambush.
So all survivors have to do is predrop pallets against a barebones M1 killer.

Really cool cosmetics. The pharaoh one is a bit random and not sure it suits the doctor. Would be cool to have an Ancient Egyptian themed killer at some point.
The reason Doctor has the Pharaoh Eddie is because it's a reference to the Powerslave album art which is an Egyptian Pyramid with lightning shooting out of the top.

The official Iron Maiden account commented: "RIP Jeff."
Great trailer. I thought this collab was a silly idea at first but the execution is fantastic.

Unknown looks like analog or "camera horror" i love it. reminds me off those old japanese horror manga and shorts
tho non of them really are scary.
but i like all the designs tho Singularities hook being like a wiggly scythe instead of a mantis claw kinda sucks
Now that you mention it, Unknown does look like a Junji Ito creation.

Everyone thinks they're the most oppressed person in the game. Everyone tunnels, everyone genrushes, such and such is broken, so and so is useless, etc. Even I make complaints like this from time to time so I'm not any better. I try to make balanced criticisms of both roles of the game, and ignore the melodramatic outcries. Lately, I think BHVR has done a decent job addressing serious problems with the game, though sometimes their methods are too light and others too heavy. Still, it's better than doing nothing at all.
-
I've never figured out the best way to play against it as killer so it's ruined more than a few matches for me.

The mori shows it absorbing Survivors into blood/life force. Maybe it shapeshifts?
I think it's a bodysnatcher, stealing bodies and wearing them like a suit, malforming it into a monster so it can eat other people. The true monster is the fleshy tendrils that it uses to shoot its venom and kill survivors in its Mori animation. I think its cosmetics will be different people whose bodies it's taken over.
-
It is interesting to hear input like this. I can't imagine what it's like to have a condition but I appreciate that you are comfortable and willing to give a serious compare/contrast with DbD's horror takes on such things.
If I recall correctly, the voices you hear at maximum Madness against Doctor are supposedly the voices of The Entity itself. You can hear similar sounds at the edge of Red Forest's map, and also in Legion's chase music while they have the Fuming Mixtape add-on equipped, which was presumably created by The Entity.
I appreciate The Unknown's take on its Hallucination mechanic, because it's meant to be disorienting and keep survivors on edge by constantly swapping what is "real" and what is "unreal". It requires you to look directly and closely into the hallucination to destroy it, and The Unknown has the power to turn that hallucination into something actually real, and about to kill you, at any moment. Now that's horrifying.
-
A killer power that lets them hide in the ground and "swim" around, maybe they can go under pallets but not through windows or off ledges, and they can attack and/or slow survivors who walk on top of them. I've wanted an ocean-themed chapter for a while now, some kind of water monster could work for this.
Ghostface and The Unknown have powers that are countered by looking at them, how about the opposite? A killer that inflicts a status effect if you look at them too long. Not sure what that would be but it'd be an interesting twist. Some would compare it to Slender Man but I'd prefer something original.

I kinda feel like they would be a step down from the other four. As much as I'd like to see my main get a skin, I imagine the devs considered these Eddie designs but dismissed them for not being interesting enough.
I still can't believe Legion are getting nothing, though. Like, not even a hoodie for Susie?
I'm banking on Legion being included in the Slipknot collaboration in the future.
-
I think that would be a bad idea.
-
It's an urban legend and a cryptid crossed with an SCP. Its origins are a subject of debate and no one really knows what it is or where it came from. All that's certain is that it makes people disappear (its Mori reveals it turns people to dust and absorbs them), and witnesses are often traumatized or delusional (likely due to the venom The Unknown produces). Most of its add-ons reference missing persons and unsolved crimes and mysteries connected to it.
-
I like Sable more than Mikaela. Mikaela, as a coffeeshop-working "witch" always struck me as an annoying hipster type. Sable is more "edgy goth" and I'm more fond of that. But to be honest? My favorite thing about Sable is her shoes.
I hope she gets cosmetics that are more casual and grounded, though. A lot of the female survivors (and now some of the males too) get full-on fashion show cosmetics that have always felt out of place to me. I want outfits that look like someone picked them out of a clothing store that doesn't cost $1000+.
-
They're the best original killer designs in DbD.
-
The new survivor's story does say she's Mikaela's friend. She also introduces a new survivor perk type. It seems like mystical hipster girls are really good at doing magic in The Entity's Realm.
-
Thank goodness they did at least one thing.

Sorry it looks like i remembered the first teaser wrong. I thought the character that the teaser is narrated by was called tyler, but upon re-looking they don't seem to be named at all.
Ryan is the one who made those drawings right? That would make a lot of sense to be the survivor i kinda forgot about them. I think it would be cool it reminds me of quentin.
Yeah, Ryan is the guy who was constantly scribbling eerie drawings after he took a morning run through the woods. Either he saw something that really messed him up, or he was killed and replaced by a bodysnatcher.
Just to recap all the characters: Ashley was stolen into the woods by a monster and might have turned into one, Tyler was her boyfriend on the phone, Ryan was the guy making strange drawings, Lisa disappeared from her home after hearing strange noises outside, and Shaun was the camper in the woods who took a photo of something before disappearing.
...Wait, I just realized something. The group chat where Shaun's disappearance was discussed is called the "Movie crew", and the teaser BHVR posted last night was footage of a movie theater.
-
@OrangeBear said:
I think the killer might be similar to chucky gameplay. Undetectable with a dash sort of attack like we see in the tent teaser.
New survivor i think could be the character named "Tyler". They seem to be the only one who actually survived an encounter with the monster.
I think the new map will actually be in the "Withered Isle" realm, devs said one day a map will be added to that realm (it's garden of joy realm)
The map appears to be at least partly a movie theater.
Killer perks probably involve deception and making survivor afraid.
New survivor perks might be inspired by horror movies.
I don't think it's Tyler. Tyler never even got close to one of the things, he was just a guy on a phone. If the survivor will be anyone from the teasers, my bet would be on Ryan (if he isn't secretly a mimic monster) since he already encountered and escaped one. But personally, I think it'll be a wholly unique character who hasn't been mentioned or seen thus far.
My biggest hope for the new killer is that they don't overexplain the lore. A spooky mysterious monster can remain a spooky mysterious monster. I don't want to know its personality or its tastes in anime, I just wanna know the scary stuff it does. I don't need anything more than "messed up freaky creepy thing in the woods that ate 20 people in a small Canadian town".

I predict there will be at least 100 posts complaining about the power level of [new thing]. I imagine there will be people saying [new thing] is completely broken OP, and other people will say [new thing] is completely useless.
After the PTB, they're going to make changes to [new thing], or maybe they aren't. If they do, people are going to say "[new thing] was fine, why'd you {nerf /buff} it, nobody asked for this". If they don't change it, people will say "how could you possibly leave [new thing] as it was?"
2 months past release [new thing] will have a 1.5% use rate, everything will be fine, and people will only have a vague recollection of being mad at BHVR for some reason and will use that as an excuse to be rude to the devs
Don't forget, if [new thing] turns out to be good, everyone will pretend it doesn't exist so they can continue complaining that they never receive good things. If it turns out to be bad, it will be mentioned endlessly as proof that they never receive good things.
-
If we're lucky, Knight will get his needed adjustments by Q4, two years after his release. But that's only if we're lucky.
-
It's map-dependent. Some maps spawn tons of them everywhere, some don't spawn enough. Arrangement can also vary, you can have deadzones everywhere or you can have five perfect pallets in a row. I have seen pallet spawns less than 5 meters away from each other.
-
It doesn't need to be 5 seconds.
-
An Adrenaline nerf.
-
I wish Pig could booby-trap the whole map to make everything more complex to deal with. Traps on survivors, traps on generators, traps on the exit gates, traps on vaults. Make playing a Pig match feel different from every other match, like how Xeno matches are like tower defense with the turrets. It's too ambitious to hope it'll ever happen but it's what I daydream about.
Pig has deathtraps with no real risk of death, stealth that barely conceals her, and a stealth dash that is loud and slow.

The nerfs to the boxes don't really affect her though unless you were trying to force head pops. Those headtraps were intended to slow the game down. That's why they've made the various changes throughout the years like making the headtraps require a total of 12 searches for time consistently and making the boxes require at most 4 searches with 5 boxes so no one can troll by bodyblocking a box.
If the amount of time doesn't matter then why don't we give all the traps 10 minute timers?
-
More survivor perks should display themselves on teammates' HUDs when they're active. You know how We'll Make It will pop up on your HUD when a survivor has it active near you? Can we do that for a lot more perks? Especially healing perks.

It will be funny if at the PTB it turns out that all these changes were just a small compensation for tougher and more serious nerfs. At a minimum, we possibly will have a massacre of addons.
with just a couple of changes they can worsen the experience of a potentially interesting chapter, thanks bhvr
I was feeling pretty excited about the new chapter reveal tomorrow but this news has significantly dampened that. I guess it makes the wait easier now that I don't care as much.

They boosted her crouch movement speed so... crouching everywhere ain't that bad. Ambush can also be used mid chase and not just for stealth hits. That's the part I'm looking forward to... being able to use it at pallet loops.
The crouch is still going to be extremely slow. I'd be an idiot if I tip-toed my way across all of Ormond. And the Ambush is still going to suck at pallet loops. The buffs are negligible and the nerfs are massive.

Pig not seeing the boxes is a trade ill happily take for making ambush more useful.
It's still not going to be that useful though. It still has a telegraphed wind-up that gives survivors warning to run away. It might last slightly longer but that won't matter at pallets and windows. Pig still has a 32m terror radius so survivors will still often notice she's coming before she gets there, unless she's crouching everywhere which slows her down too much to be practical. It's still going to be mostly useless. Meanwhile the traps, the part of her kit that actually work, are being defanged.
-
She doesn't need 7 hatchets, and she definitely doesn't need to be faster while holding a hatchet. She's already one of the best campers in the game next to Leatherface. What does this actually help her where she needs it? Huntress is fine, if she needs anything it's definitely not this.
-
"We have decided to buff The Pig" and then they nerfed Pig. This is a bad joke. And they're buffing Huntress, who doesn't need it at all. Ridiculous.
-
@BlightedDolphin said:
He could use some buffs, especially since Huntress is receiving some changes soon. He's already weaker than her and depending on how they changes Huntress there might be no reason to even bother playing him over her soon. He is punished way too much for missing, especially when landing the shot isn't even a guaranteed hit either.
Increasing his reload speed again and reworking all of his add ons would be a good start (and maybe all he would need)
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3652544#Comment_3652544
That can be a good thing sometimes. You can get some shots through little gaps you couldn't reach with Huntress. Only thing Slinger really has over her.

The needle spear DOES come with upsides. The amount of holes that you wouldn't think were programmed to be holes hitbox wise is nuts.
True, the small hurtbox does let Slinger get those threading-the-needle shots. But I play on console so I'll never make those shots in the first place, so that does nothing to help me at all. Meanwhile I'm seeing the spear fly through survivors without a hit, and it's miserable.
-
Should just revert Buckle Up to a Haste perk instead of an Endurance perk. Its powercreep has mostly invalidated WGLF.
-
Sometimes it feels like the hitbox of his spear is the size of a needle. Meanwhile Huntress's hatchets hit like they're trucks.

Oh, I think I misunderstood what they meant. So they mean all non-licensed survivors will get a shirt?
I believe so, from what other people have told me.
-
I'm still trying to work out the nature of the monster because it's not perfectly straightforward.
The first teaser says they found Ashley and a weird figure in the woods. It describes Ashley as talking without moving her mouth and all she does is repeat what she said on her phonecall to Tyler. The other figure which is described as twisted then begins mimicking the writer's voice. If it just wanted to kill Ashley, then what was that figure the narrator saw that looked like Ashley alive but acting weirdly? A duplicate, a mimic? If so, what was the other one?
Then there's the teaser with Ryan and his weird scribblings. He went for the run in the woods and then came back acting strange, spending all his free time scribbling those weird drawings, but apparently acting normal when interacted with and denying he was doing anything odd. Did Ryan see something horrible in the woods and came back traumatized? Or is it Ryan at all, has he been replaced with a mimic? If so, what is it drawing and why? It looks like a twisted human face to me.
The last one on my mind is Lisa. One of the last things she says in her texts is that she thought she heard the neighbors and went to check, but writes "it wasn't them anyway". This strikes me as strange because she of the use of "it". This implies there was something out there that she encountered. If mimics are involved, was that actually Lisa writing the messages at the end?
There's a lot of questions raised and it leaves me wondering if any of these people are truly themselves anymore. I'm getting bodysnatcher vibes from a lot of this, not just a simple monster in the woods killing people. I could be overthinking it, of course, but I'm just eager to find out more.
-
@Xendritch said:
I will laugh so hard that after all the cryptid style teasers the actual killer is an alien that's mutating people and it's actually another sci-fi chapter.
That would be 1000x more misleading than Skull Merchant ever was.
Aliens can be cryptids. A lot of alien sighting stories aren't much different from cryptid sightings. Mothman could've been an alien, the Flatwoods Monster, the Hopkinsville Goblins, etc. I don't think it coming from space really makes a difference if it's still doing the same scary stuff, the results are horrifying either way. Though I will be disappointed if the killer isn't equally creepy to the monsters shown in the teasers.

What I think this comment illustrates is that "anti-loop" is a term people seem to use for wildly different things.
Here you're using it to refer to a damaging attack that would be used at a loop, right? Something like a Wesker dash, or a Nemesis Tentacle Strike, things like that?
Whereas a lot of other people (including in this thread) use it to refer to things put down at a loop to pressure survivors away, like a Skull Merchant drone or an Artist idle crow.
It's one of those terms I think everyone has to define as they're using it or these kinds of conversations become talking past one another real quick.
People definitely seem to have conflicting opinions on what counts as anti-loop. Is any killer that has a power that makes running around in a circle more dangerous considered an "anti-loop killer"? Because if so then we're putting Skull Merchant in the same boat as Clown.
