You dont have a 0% chance of escaping the trial though. You have a 75% chance of escaping. Slightly higher actually due to the small chance you have a team who pops all the gens at once and lets you go for hatch.
The addon can create scenarios in which a survivor can spawn in a trial and essentially be dead even if all the generators get done
It doesn't matter how 'unlikely' it is for a box to hold 2 keys, it's not impossible and it is terrible design.
Again, gonna reiterate my point - If the pig just so happens to blocks your box, you are essentially dead with no skill, thought or effort on the killers part.

I see no problem with it. This is DBD after all. If bubba camping the hook is acceptable then I see no reason AFK pig shouldn’t be acceptable.
Bubba has to actually win a chase to camp the hook
As BS as Bubba facecamping is (Which the devs have already semi-confirmed they are looking at anti facecamp measures), the killer at least has to put in a modicum of effort in catching a survivor which if the game is as survivor sided as some would have you believe then that's really challenging
AFK pig takes no skill.

I'm not contesting the fact that it's a brainless and poor mechanic. I'm contesting the notion that you have zero chance of surviving. Bc. this scenario only comes to play when at least two need the box the pig is guarding. Lets look at the chances:
The chance of no one needing the pigs box: (3/4)^4 = 81/256 = 0,316 -> 31,6%
Chance of one needing the pigs box: 4 * (1/4) * (3/4)^3 = 27/64 = 0,422 -> 42,2%
So you have a whooping 73,8 % (so nearl 3 out of 4 games) where at most one is effected, so it the survivor play it right, the one with the active trap has a good chance of escaping through that hatch, ans no one dies.
If you are unlucky enough to have n ppl effected, then sure n-1 are bound to die. But thats unlikely, and still there's a chance for one of them to still escape.
You're getting into the maths about how likely/unlikely it is for the pig to block the 'right' box
But that's not my point, I'm aware of how 'consistant' the """strat""" is.
I'm saying once a survivor or survivors have their boxes blocked, their chance of escape is essentially 0. Meaning once the match starts, the pig picks a box and if that box just happens to hold a key then like I've said - no counterplay, no recourse or skill. Just sit still and don't play the game
None of this would matter if they just made it so using the tape addon lets survivors leave through the exit gate with an active trap

100% of 1 person dying is 100% of 1 person living, you don't know which one will be, thus 50% of that person dying.
Whether you want to argue semantics or statistics, it doesn't change the fact that somebody dies (loses) because of no fault of their own/no skill expression
-

wrong. keys exist
You do realise only 1 survivor can ever escape through the hatch at any time, right?
The hatch only spawns when there is 1 survivor remaining
So, not to be rude but maybe read up how these mechanics actually work before declaring other people to be wrong
@fulltonon said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2853287#Comment_2853287
they are not dead yet, someone will die, but no one knows who that gonna be.
So, both of them had 50% of chance of survival.
50% + 50% = 100%
100% of 1 person dying with no effort on the killers part.

there is no such thing. they can escape.
Yes there is such a thing.
If 2 survivors have their key in the same box and the pig blocks it, there is 0 counterplay. 1 survivor has a 100% guaranteed chance to die with no recourse
It doesn't matter how likely or unlikely it is, you shouldn't spawn in the match and be basically already dead.
@CaulDrohn said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2853233#Comment_2853233
They have a chance, but that requires great coordination from the survivors:
Remove as many traps as possible. Repair five gens to 99%, then pop them all at once. All ppl without trap excape though exit gates. If there's just one survivor left, fine search for the hatch. If more than one have an active trap, all but one have to sacrifice themselves by running out of the gate. Then the last one can take the hatch again. If the pig also starts searching the hatch, try remove trap. If she beats you to both hatch and back to box, then you were unlucky.
It doesn't change the fact that 1 survivor is basically dead from the get-go with no skill expression or effort from the killer. It's poor design and makes no sense.
At least when you get facecamped by Bubba he has to actually beat you in a chase first
-
With Nemesis, you can open the vaccine crate, pick it up then just drop it. Its aura will be revealed to any infected survivor so it doesn't matter
As for Pinhead, I actually think the box being an item that survivors have to swap and pick up is a small strength of his that should stay - afterall the puzzle box can't be dropped once picked up and forces the survivor to solve it to get rid of it. I don't think the box working like the tape would make sense.

Killer cooldown is to long in general. It should be more like 4 or 5 stacks of STBFL cooldown.
That would make hook trading and camping far too easy for killers
STBFL can make saving against camping killers almost impossible

Killer tactically trying to block a box to secure a kill is a nogo but 3 survivors getting a save in egc with bt and all tanking and blocking a hit is completly ok.

You're comparing survivors playing altruistically to the killer NOT playing the game at all and just sitting on their behind doing nothing and being rewarded for it

It activating with endurance was the bug supposedly, it must've got fixed
@QueenEvaine said:
When using Overcome, if you are hit with the Endurance effect active (either by Borrowed Time or a Styptic Agent) Exhaustion does not trigger and other Exhaustion perks can still be used.
In the above thread Mandy talks about Overcome is only supposed to trigger when a health state is lost, I imagine that only applies to going from healthy to injured.
-
It's had multiple bug reports be set to 'acknowledged' which means a change is very likely on the way
Not matter how "consistant" it is or isn't, there should not be a manner of playing where a survivor has a 0% chance of escaping the trial because the killer decides to not play the game

It was never funny tbh. Anytime someone expects me to do it I just stand there tbh
You're not wrong
-
The meme officially died when BHVR added the meg mask
Stopped being funny long before then if you ask me.
-
Probably best to not encourage witch hunts tbh
Personally I prefer the alternative of just laughing at the hypocrisy on display, one of the people in question can't take criticism yet will do stuff like this in service of "criticising" BHVR despite DBD being the only reason they are even relevant at all. Then they get to act like they did smth and pat themselves on the back when all they did in reality was go
"Guys. I'm making this video because BHVR didn't INSTANTLY fix thing..."
I know BHVR can drag their feet sometimes but they went from killswitching the perk to having it fixed instantly in the hotfix, which if you put 2 + 2 together is likely because it was reported to support before the weekend and was ready for the hotfix. But no they didn't consider that did they, because once again BHVR bad.
-
Balanced
Engineers Fang is his only problematic addon, even with it's nerfs its still stupid but since it's an Iri and most PH's won't run it, it doesn't ruin his overall balance.
His anti-loop has meaningful counterplay
His stall/slowdown is something survivors have control over most of the time unless the PH has a good idea of where everyone is (which is usually only at the start of the match)
-
Also to clarify by 'Mastered' I mean I've mastered the skill ceiling of that particuar killer, Legion's skill ceiling both being abysmally small and the fact I've played a lot of him over the years has led me to the belief that outside of tactics that apply to all m1 killers, I don't have anything else to learn about his power.
-
While I'm not going to say she's perfect
She's 100% the best way BHVR could've interpreted this character into the game without making her a cookie-cutter anti-loop killer like they did with rework freddy
I hope he doesn't mind the tag but @PixelBush put it best, in one of his videos he said he'd prefer killers to be unique and on the weaker side than strong but ultimately bland and this is the best way to put how I feel about Sadako.

i own the dlc on steam

Yea I cringed pretty hard at Twitter today after reading some posts suggesting it was the content creators/their community that got it fixed so quick (after abusing it!).
What living in an echo-chamber bubble does to people
-
I don't think this is a controversial opinion but, forgive me if it's a bit contentious either way
If Circle of Healing didn't exist, nobody would care about boons. It's that simple really
The only reason any killer ever has to care about a boon in a match is only because you don't know what boon(s) are in play. Unlike hex perks where (for the most part) you will always know what hexes are active and in play
-
It's been acknowledged twice in the bug report section so a change is coming
Support said ppl aren't being banned for it, which also implies there's going to be a change to it balance wise
-
Wow
From killswitched to fixed in less than a week.
I'm sure glad those content creators worked dilligently to make videos promoting these exploits, I'm sure they deserve all the pats on the back for this.
-
He's fun :]
-
Oppression would be a better perk if it had a lower cooldown + missing the skillcheck was a bit more impactful
E.g If one person missed the skillcheck it inflicts everyone on it with incapacitated for 10s or something. Like Eruption
-
Leader + Streetwise in one perk would be pretty good tbh
Wouldn't be meta by any stretch but it'd be nice
-
Honestly I'm very critical of BHVR in many ways/aspects but I find a lot of people's behaviour (no pun intended) and responses to this whole situation really unfair.
Mainly with content creators acting like by making videos they can strong arm a response by spreading """awareness""" of an exploit. Yeah, awareness - right. Then when the developers respond and sort the issue out, they get to pat themselves on the back like they did something, shut up honestly.
You make videos on the game you're not the people who actually keep the game running, people talk about entitlement, this is ACTUAL entitlement.
Game breaking bugs suck, nobody will dispute that but making videos essentially advertising it under the guise of """awareness""" just doesn't sit right with me. Never will
Personally I'd like to give credit where it's due, if not for the addition of the killswitch this bug would've stuck around for at least another week given how BHVR handles hotfixes. Whoever had the idea for that, well done and many thanks.

Same, hope it gets addressed like today...
It's bad enough we had regular cheaters to deal with
Now people have built in cheats to abuse. Some dbd content creators even showing it off to people/making videos using it.
Pathetic really

Personally I'm taking a break until they fix the big exploits going around at the moment
The aura reading perk crashing and the object wallhack stuff

Dead Space is possible given the remake

It's actually a Ghostface reference bc ol' Danny Boy is a journalist who would write for a newspaper
-
Killer perk meta has more variety than it's ever had. It's the killer variety and playstyles that might be what's causing things to feel stale or boring
As for survivor the meta hasn't budged in like 3 years. Circle of Healing is 'meta' but it's not a perk you'll see 4 survivors running like you would with DS or DH.

Nemesis gives off "I am rapidly approaching your location" vibes

Don't get me wrong. That is absolutely ######### up and MMR needs some serious work.
That ain't my gripe, it's the people who look for meme quotes like the hockey and "was that really a skilled play?"
The mental gymnastics people go through on this forum is out of control.
Yeah I mean I find them funny and somewhat bad statements. It's like the 'pretty good job so far' line.
I don't base my dislike for SBMM/MMR purely on those quotes, that would also be pretty silly
-
@foxsansbox said:
The inherent problem with these threads is everyone who believes they understand what skill is better than Patrick focus on his hockey analogy and not the actual meat and potatoes:
- You cannot have a scenario where both sides are considered winners
- you cannot measure activities in a single game and then complain that they didn't contribute to their perceived skillfully or skilless designation
And let me just say, everyone crying for team based MMR to bring back altruism and cooperation are going to be very disappointed. Altruism will not supercede dying, as BHVR will not justify putting someone who dies more with a killer who kills more. That is just absurd.
I feel like BHVR does already justify putting newer players with 2k+ killers/survivors who die a lot with killers who win a lot
They justify it with one simple thing "que times"

All of this because I said kills and escapes aren't indicative of skill. (Which they aren't)
They absolutely are. Case in point, the DBD MMR system uses this and the results speak for themselves. And the people who've built such systems say they are. But you know this right, because you know how it all works? Nice one.
The results do speak for themselves, you're right
Just not in the way you think you are.

The word "ignorance" isn't an insult. It literally means lack of knowledge or information. You don't even have to buy a dictionary these days to learn that.
And I stand by it. Your comment literally reeks of ignorance as to how an MMR system works.
But, what the heck, let's assume you're some kind of master genius that knows something the rest of us devs don't know. Explain to us then, how do you objectively measure a 5-gen chase as compared to someone who just does gens, hides from the killer and escapes. What's the measurable ratio here that can be used for comparisons to work out results for MMR purposes?
If you say so buddy
All of this because I said kills and escapes aren't indicative of skill. (Which they aren't)
Also nowhere did I say I know how to fix it, or what would be better - I just said I know how MMR works and I don't like it. What more do you want? I'm not writing you an essay. Nice projection btw

I wrote a very lengthy detailed post that literally explained this (and was confirmed by Patrick as being accurate).
Short version, the analogy works. You just have no idea how an MMR system could possibly work. You might think you know how it works, but you'd never be able to implement your imagined idea into an actual workable system.
I'd go into more detail, but I've already done so in that thread, which many read and were grateful for the explanation and better understanding it granted them. I'd suggest you give it a read rather than continue your position of ignorance.
Here... I'll even give you the link: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/306573/how-the-mmr-works-and-why-what-patrick-said-makes-absolute-sense-from-a-dev-pov/p1
I know how the system works and why it is the way it is
I just don't like it or think it's a good system at all
Also calling other people's opinions on a subjective thing "ignorance" isn't very polite is it, I didn't insult you for having a different opinion. Not that I'm surprised by it, mind you. Come to expect it from people
-
Cheaters these days can see who they are going against, what killer they are, the mmr of everyone in the lobby, how many people are in que (and the que split e.g amount of survs qued v killers)

MoM and OoO is intended. It only triggers if you get MoM off and reveal your aura to the killer. Unless there's another bug that I'm not aware of. This is just getting aura reading for free.
Mettle of Man also deactivates if you go down and the aura reading is disabled when the killer is close to you so it's not like old object vs freddy where it was permanent wallhacks making survivors unmindgameable
-
How the hell does this even happen these 2 perks don't interact in any way and never have
-
@PlaysByShady said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/313750/the-problem-with-mmr-dbd-is-not-hockey
To start with, I love the recent comparisons with hockey because it shows the massive rift in understanding of the game between the devs and the playerbase. DBD is not hockey (roll credits) and I think that should be abundantly clear.
Yes, I agree completely.
The comparison to a sport like hockey implies that DBD is a symmetrical competitive game with clearly defined win conditions, of which it is none
Oh dear... and you started off so well.
LITERALLY NOBODY SAID THIS!!
There!
Not a single dev said DBD is like hockey, because as you said, they're not the same.
What Patrick did say - using hockey as an example - is that you don't need to measure shots on goal as a proxy for skill because the end result (i.e. higher score) is a suitable proxy for shots on goal (you can't get a high score without taking shots on goal).
And in the same way, you can't get kills without killing survivors. And you can't get escapes without evading the killer.
That's it. That's literally the only point being stressed. And you've gotten it amazingly wrong, and then had the arrogance to presume it's the devs who don't know what they're talking about rather than yourself.
It's a bad analogy because it fixates on the whole 'kill/escapes' thing being the only thing worth measuring
We both know escaping and kills aren't indicative of skill
-
"Damn I ran a meme build on my favourite killer and got destroyed/tbagged at the exit gate, guess I'm just gonna play Blight with 4 slowdowns"

Sadako's debuff is called "Condemned," it's never referred to as condemnation at all.
It doesn't read right imo
The way it reads in my brain is like if there was a trickster tooltip that read like this:
"Survivors hit by knives will gain lacerated" instead of "Survivors hit by knives will become lacerated" or "Survivors hit by knives will gain laceration"
It's a grammar thing, if not condemnation then it should read something like
"Survivors will become condemned" or "Survivors will become more condemned"
-
Also a really badly translated tooltip that says something like "Survivors will gain condemned" when it should say "Survivors will gain condemnation"
