Oh, no. You got it right lol. I just feel you fail to see the forest for the trees. You're always just 'stuck' on that little face word.
All good! Just seems with all the things wrong in the game, you're just stuck on one of the silliest. Dbd does need more silly though. People take it FAR too serious lol.
Face word or not its still objective fact that wasn't face camping which the system was designed to prevent. If people want to complain that the "anti-camp" which its not anti-camp its specifically anti-face camp I will correct it. I stayed on topic with the post meanwhile you come in here with "you're still on that" when that doesn't mean anything.

lol still at that, Brimp? Keep riding that bull! Yee-haw!
You say that but I'm right. He clearly wasn't face camping. Was it an unfortunate hook? Yeah but how did 2 survivors go into basement in the first place against clown. People don't like the cold hard truth that the devs called it anti face camp.

So, 16 meter anti-camp radius was big enough?

The Clown was standing just on the edge of the anti-camp range, just far enough to not trigger it.
Is this sort of gameplay okay?Also, there was a 3-gen next to the basement, so winning against that was impossible.
Not to mention that he had end-game perks as well, in addition to Agi + Iron GraspAnti-FACE camp. Emphasis on face camp.
-
Quite simple really. The North American servers are a lot more casual while Asian servers people actually seem to like to try at the game rather than the North American regions give up over the most petty reasons.
-
I don't mind it. The fog should have came back a long time ago. It's a little silly that you can just… see across the entire map on multiple maps despite the size with some of them.
-
Some good mac rocks still survived at the very least. All though the shrinkage of coal tower is questionable.

It literally just got nerfed so they couldn’t stack anymore which was MORE THAN FAIR as stacking was way too OP.
I swear some of you just want survivor to have nothing but garbage perks so you can cakewalk to 4Ks every match. You literally just got killer buffs to tunneling and you’re still calling for survivor nerfs.
66% faster recovery is way too much. 30% was literally fine as is. Or you can take the 30% for granted and make it 20% again like on its release where it also affected less status effects.
-
@MDRSan said:

30% faster recovery hardly renders all status effect perks 'useless'. If you insist on calling it useless though, how many downsides would the killers like? Maybe it should only activate once a trial. How about it requiring totem cleansing or chest opening to activate - that old chestnut never fails to make survivor perks useless.
Since the game is being designed around the killer's rulebook for survivors these days I figured we should just cut to the chase here.
It's 66% faster recovery.
-
Remember. Dark arrogance is apparently powerful enough to have a downside. But nearly halving almost all negative duration status effects in the game isn't powerful enough for a downside.
-
I think its unnecessary. If people want to tunnel they will tunnel but now you can INTENTIONALLY go down in deadzones and get to safe locations post unhook because that's 20 extra meters of protection you get at base.

Ah yes, the infamously unreliable NightLight. NightLight has consistently underreported KR's. It's also such a tiny sample size that it's statistically irrelevant.
I agree, KR isn't an end-all-be-all solution. Generally speaking though, 60% is the Devs target (which I think is a bad choice, but whatever) and Killers are either hitting or exceedingly that. Why would we buff that? What is your ideal KR? 70%? 75%? At what point do we stop and say, "Hey, this might be too much." Is it only when you are satisfied?
Ah yes, because I think it's possible to get 70% KR with GF, that means I only play against trash players. Of course. It couldn't be that I'm actually decent with him, or that maybe I play in a way that you don't. No, that's inconceivable.
I said 70% because I subtracted 20% from my own KR to make it accessible to the average player.
I'm also glad to hear you think Solo Q can go ######### themselves. "Who cares if Solo Q has a 2% Escape Rate, I'm finally fulfilling the ego feedback loop I always wanted, now I don't have to try against good/competent (probably not) players either!"
Hard to say as aiming for kill rates to balance is not how you balance things. There's a reason why other games balance usually around some characters having abnormally high win rates which if what you're saying is true… it's why I laugh at the notion you can easily get a 70% kill rate on ghost face.
It further reinforced my thought that you go against actual gutter tier skill of player if you actually have a 90% kill rate on ghost face. Please play against survivors that actually have a brain for 10 games and come back to me with your average kill rate because 90% is SUPER abnormally high for such a limited kit as ghost face. Any experienced player in any sort of game will tell you a 90% kill rate on a HARD limited character is only achievable by going against the lowest of the lows. But since you have a 90% kill rate on ghost face he clearly needs nerfs right?
I never said anything about soloq going to suffer. I said even if soloq some killers can still be extremely weak or strong. Which still holds true. I've seen soloq games against good blights that still resulted in someone escaping even if the blight played efficiently. So the real issue of soloq is not even kill rates or anything its just lack of comms. -

Severe survivor mistakes sound like a skill issue to me. Note that I also expect gens to be slowed down or some other form of compensation to be given to killers alongside this, it would be a net boon for lower tier killers that have a harder time tunneling good survivors out.
Got it, The Game, Lery's (6th), and Garden of Joy (12th) are now killer sided maps, you heard it here first folks, lets chat about how we can buff these maps for survivors /s. The map data and kill rate data come from the same data set, any claim of volatility applies to both.
You can slowdown gens all you want but with current maps. That doesnt do much for most of the rost especially when exhaustion perks are at play.

Nightlight data is trash and has been for a while. It also currently shows The Game as being the fifth most deadly map or fourth most deadly since one of the maps shown isn't actually available outside of custom matches (badham 3, another great example of how bad the data here is). Are you going to agree with it that The Game is a killer sided map?
https://nightlight.gg/maps/viewer?sort=kill&shown=pick%7Ckill%7Cdist&start_days=28
On the actual topic at hand, the highest tier and lowest tier killers need the most focus, they need the most balancing. One of the best things we can do to nerf the high tiers is to nerf tunneling. If you get tunneled out by a trapper that is a skill issue on the survivor, if you can't tunnel out someone as blight/nurse, that is a skill issue on the killer. The argument that we need to keep tunneling for the sake of low tier killers makes no sense to me.Literally trapper is only useable because of tunneling and camping lol. Any decent survivor will just follow you around popping all your traps to force you to focus your attention on them or else once they get unhooked they do the same routine. These killers literally ARE only playable because of tunneling and severe survivor mistakes which genuinely shouldn't happen at the rate they do.
I would also trust NightLights stats WAY more than BHVRs stats any day. You never know what BHVR wants to skew with their stats while nightlight is submitted via players. Also about Gideons. Are we forgetting that its STILL boosted with a couple other maps meaning the other maps that aren't boosted would naturally have more volatile stats?

They cant with the current communication the game offers (discord don't count) , if they had a comm wheel with pre made message like mobile had I would agree but until survivors receive that buff ( which i don't think devs will add) top tiers need to be nerfed
So top tiers get nerfed then what. Even more of the roster becomes miserable to play as against competent survivors. You can get 4ks yes but is it fun? No because as most of the roster you only ever get to do well when survivors allow for it by making mistakes rather than you actually outplaying them.

So how high are the KR's supposed to go?
If you look on nightlight right now the best kill rate is legit 60% and held by Freddy lol. Some killers are dropping nearly to the 40% mark. And that just shows that once you take out all the survivor that are bad in the normal queue. This game is WAY worse than you originally think.
Kill rates are NOT a one all concrete indication of the balance for the game and never was. It's a sign yes but just that a sign. This is why I laugh at the indication "you can easily get a 70% KR on ghost face" because that only implies you go against bot level of skill in your games. It's the whole reason I use "against good/competent survivors" since THATS what we should be balancing around as those are what indicate (or at least more accurately indicate) a killer being weak or strong even IF soloq. -

So we can nerf top tiers? or is this just a "oh no think of the low tiers" while ignoring the elephant in the room ( Top Tiers)
Top tiers right now are unironically a necessary evil. Until survivors receive nerfs there NEEDS to be top tiers in their current states. And no this isn't a "1% of the playerbase" type take its more of a "Survivors can do extremely well against most of the roster if they have a functioning brain" type take.
-
OR we can start nerfing stuff on the survivor side when low tiers are in play. You know maybe an earning requirement for exhaustion, gen progression being disabled etc. Because you don't really NEED multiple uses of exhaustion perks vs low tiers or even faster gens to begin with.

You're speaking the truth. Westerners skill levels doesn't come close to Asians. Everything you said is nothing but facts.
Yeah unfortunately no matter how you explain it people will only see "big bad killer wanting to ruin my experience!" and not the killer being an actual player wanting to win their objective. So, then they just whine about said killer doing what they have to do to win and not proposing good solutions or actively endorsing the bad ones the devs propose.
-
Dont know about you but I've been monitoring queue times in my region and they've shown to be borderline instant whenever there's not 2v8 going on. That indicated more KILLER players not playing killer by either leaving or going to play survivor. And even then its not even a one sided BP bonus it usually STAYED on killer. When some survivors stop DC'ing over the PETTIEST of reasons then we can make accurate changes.
They signed up for a PVP game and don't like it when they verse certain killers… then pvp might not be for them. Because I will say if I do ever get back into dbd again it will 100% be on survivor because it's way less stressful and way easier because I can have X amount of perks that bail me out compared to me being forced to play a higher tier with good perks just to compete. -
I stopped playing this game because my effort as killer simply didn't matter much compared to survivors who had to and still HAVE to put significantly less to get a greater reward. You're telling me survivors should have gotten like 7 perks base kit post unhook, anti-face camp turned into straight up anti-camp and pallets everywhere? Any survivor now can legit just slap on windows and go on a 1.5 minute chase easily as long as they have the basic understanding of what game they're playing.
There's a reason why Asian servers rarely even use anti-tunnel because they realize they're playing a PVP game and agree that the best form of anti-tunnel is being good at chase.
I sure like to play the game as a weaker killer when a survivor has 3 health states off hook and exhaustion. Did they do anything necessarily skillful to earn their exhaustion or second chances? No but they still buy as much time as killers get back from running 2-3 slowdown which *most you need to earn. The math just doesn't add up.
Also at least on nightlight kill rates are falling to the 40's with Freddy being the ONLY killer hanging by a thread at 60%. I just wonder what BHVRs own stats would be because I bet they aren't far off. -
You buff anti tunnel perks and you see more of said killers that you claim to see most. 5 second ds was and still is crippling for a lot of the killer roster. Until unique hooking gives an actual incentive (not the pathetic 5% blood lust and bp) then anti tunnel can't really be touched.
Remember the best form of anti-tunnel agreed upon in at least Asian servers is being good at the game. Which I don't blame them since… dbd IS a pvp game. -

why not buff the lower tier to the strength of blight
That's a lot more work than it seems. How do you buff/rework a lot of the lower tier killers in a way that they don't become super frustrating to play against? People already don't really like clown so how do you change him in a way to be better? Because believe it or not in his current state he's not much different than before the started changing his bottle values.

Being M1 doesn't matter in most games, to be fair.
If you're good with Ghostface, you're good with Ghostface
You can be good at ghost face yes. But at least in my matches that doesn't amount to much as survivors actually know what they're doing so I'm hard limited by my own kit. Compared to blight which actually has a choice of who he wants to chase. GF is a LOT more time crunched which is as to why he's consistently seen as weak until VERY specific maps are given to him.
-
Blight: Better mobility, actual chase power, lower cooldowns,
Ghostface: M1 with no mobility, a cooldown on his stealth, an m1. Did I mention he's an M1 killer? -
Yeah been saying this since they made sprint burst on demand. Does anyone really find it fun when a survivor can just activate a perk for free distance regardless of skill?
-
Here's to hoping that unique hooking on a majority of the roster is actually worth it this time.

Dang how did Krasues pick rate get that low?? I’ve personally only seen one in the last week of playing basically all day everyday.
The rest seem pretty expected to me.
That change to completely remove leech off hook did hurt her massively as that inadvertently made her produce more mushrooms since hitting them 3 times in head form to fully apply leech again takes too much time.

If you don’t like it, don’t play killer in 2v8. Killer queues are still insanely long, so I’m sure someone else will gladly take your spot in the queue.
I’m not saying this to criticize you, it’s just the reality of what is needed to actually make people want to play survivor in 2v8 mode. The devs should keep buffing survivor side until there is a better balance between the killer and survivor queues.The survivor side is already the better side to play in 2v8 though.
-
I mean yeah. Survivors are getting so efficient while maps are actively changing in their favor in a way where low tiers simply aren't that viable anymore if the survivors have any idea what game they're playing. It's a lot more fun to use Ghoul and Blight and have constant/interactive chases than running from pallet to pallet and breaking like a literal robot.
A lot of the reason people don't exactly like Ghoul and Blight is that they are the types of killers where you are forced to be the better player to play well against whether they like to admit it or not. -
So my monitor has built in Contrast, Brightness, Saturation and probably much more I don't care to explore so if I mess with that… would that be considered cheating? I didn't have control over what the company loaded my monitor with but I still have it nonetheless.
-
I've been saying healing was meta ever since Resurgence got the unnecessary buff to 70% heal progress. Like yes lets just allow 4 second reset under hook so healing under hook is no longer an issue.
-
Sure when BHVR kill switches sprint burst and lithe for its cheap and free chase extensions.
-
Agree 100%. Against casuals or lower skilled people this isnt an issue but when you get survivors that just… do gens then suddenly the lower half of the roster is left in the dust even more after these changes. No matter what, a pitiful 5% blood lust (and probably 10% bbq stack) won't cause anyone to suddenly think "man I should walk across the map to POTENTIALLY find someone."
Or summed up, the reward doesn't match the effort. -
I feel like they got the wrong definition. Hand holding at least in the traditional community sense is literally being handed stuff like survivors are with the elusive, 32-meter killer aura read and 30 second haste and endurance.
What they really meant to say was "railroaded" or in my sense "you're forced to take this one path for a while" -
Yeah the common sense isn't lining up with this one. Sure it made flashlight/bang saves a little easier but… they're already very easy to pull off except in the scenario where a killers looking into a wall and still gets flash bang saved (should have been patched out years ago). I would much rather have a survivor insistent on getting the right distance to take a protection hit while inside my model or the survivors model then oop, 30 second endurance blocking a door way with DS and DH.
Maybe make it so if people want to take a protection hit (the score event used for old WGLF) with their BT they get a special type of deep wound that runs down even while they're sprinting and has a shorter duration. That would literally make it WAY riskier than it is currently and conceptualized in the upcoming PTB. -
@runningguy said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/459483/healing-vs-doing-gens
and this is why people get tunneled, they make bad plays by healing when they shouldnt, not healing when they should, saving to soon, when in chase they loop the pallet next to the hooked survivor instead of taking the chase away from the hooks or away from the gens. try telling people this and they will not accept that the reason they lost is due to their own actions….its because of tuneling or the killer is op or slugging.
Exactly. This or they just sit around a main building making their chase REALLY unappealing.
-
I mean yeah. 5% blood lust is not even a reward for going for unique hooks. Let alone people thinking this and the survivors effects should straight up just stop tunneling (it shouldn't).
-
@kisfenkin said:
This entitlement is insane. You want to be rewarded for what, exactly? When the punishment was removed so was the reward.
Giving you even as little a boost as bloodlust as an incentive to not tunnel is more than what is deserved.
If you think you should get more and that this isn't enough, remember that there is no punishment for tunneling. You could just go do that still. So do that, and be happy that every time you get a unique hook you are still going to get that bloodlust boost. A completely and entirely unnecessary buff to all killers all of the time.
So you can get 30 second endurance AND haste off hook not to even mention losing every ability to track you down and you get aura reading for 10 seconds at a 32 meter range off hook with a 20 meter anti-"face" camp that actively builds up faster now over time... Do you think 5% bloodlust is an equal exchange for all that? You know how many perks that is survivors get base kit off hook now? A bunch of perks base kit and more since killer instinct, coughing from nemesis, puking from plague etc doesn't work for the person who got off hook.
A worthless 5% bloodlust (which is lost on kicking a pallet or simply using killer powers some of which don't even injure) WONT help weaker killers while higher ups remain… the same. You say unnecessary buff but this will make a difference in maybe 1/2000 games if you're lucky. There's just no comparison to what killers will get compared to survivors.
This is literally not an incentive to not tunnel it's an incentive to tunnel even more as the "reward" you get for unique hooking wont even impact games. If killers still got the basekit pop per unique hook you would have had an actual point but since killers won't get that you literally have none.
But I get it, it's easier to downvote and pull the "well at least you got something" card instead of having a constructive argument. -
@dbd900bach said:
While I'm nit trying to defend the very lackluster rewards by any means, using Trapper of as an example is somewhat unfair. He's one of the worst killers in the game, and a lot of the potential problems you described are more so bad killer design than anything. Trapper is simply just outdated and doesn't fit the current state of Dead by Daylight so he should never be used as a measure for any global mechanic when he is the problem in most situations.
I use trapper because the dev himself used Trapper as an example. The dev stated that probably knowing trappers awful state. It's just his poor choice of killer to explain the system with.

That has nothing to do with what I posted. It's interesting that I state how BHVR should make the game enjoyable for everyone and your response is "There are four other people in every game and you are not more important than any of them". What an odd thing to post as a rebuttal.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4019060#Comment_4019060
Killers do it all the time in SoloQ, I can't imagine how much they do it when facing a SWF. Today alone, there were 4 Killers that DC'd at various stages of the match, from when they couldn't down and tunnel someone before the first gen was done, to DCing right when the exit gates were opened, so it's not only a Surv issue, it's a DBD issue. The game is so generally miserable if you're not playing SWF, that most players are DCing lol SO AGAIN, maybe DBD should focus less on punishments and more on ways to actually make the game fun and balanced, so that people don't want to DC and want to partake in a fun match. Will there be 100% participation 100% of the time? No, but that's no excuse not to try and make the game better for everyone instead of only catering to SWF's and the highest tier Killers.
Its a both sides issue but by nature of how the game it is more noticeable that survivors do it. I could probably play 10 matches a day as survivor and see that my teammates give up more than killers. If you don't like dbd to the point where you give up over the most pettiest of reasons then DBD aint for you. The game is a 4v1 asymm meaning you are MEANT to lose chase eventually as you're only 25% of your team.
Unironically best way to avoid tunneling or getting the most playtime out of your survivor games is getting better at looping to the point where a killer if they're smart enough wont even want to take chase with you again. We should still focus more on punishments as that's the only way to keep bad apples out.
Once I stop seeing survivors give up over the most non-issues then we can agree to talk about lowering penalties. -
@Roco45 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4018615#Comment_4018615
No that's not a valid argument, at all lol You people are so desperate to trap others into playing matches with you, idk it's kinda sad tbh. I'd like BHVR to focus on actually balancing the game/making the game enjoyable for SoloQ and less about penalties because other players feel entitled to other players time. "Give up on hook" isn't in the game anymore, so I can see what kind of player you are.
Ok so what you're telling me is it's ok to give up and throw the entire match if I went down in a way I don't agree with which a noticeable amount of people do in this game. Ok I'll go into matches and do JUST that and see how much the 4 other players enjoy that and proceed to advocate for no DC penalty. Every time I don't like X killer I'll just run to the killer post unhook and force him to either slug me or hook me to take me out of the game faster since I'm not having fun so the game should be balanced around me. See what I'm getting at? It's not possible to balance for the majority if the majority is… not willing to even play the game.
Also give up on hook still is possible it's called bringing luck offerings and so you get to attempt the 4%. It's just 2nd stage takes a bit longer now. -
@Roco45 said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4018228#Comment_4018228
That's not a valid argument for not attempting to make the game enjoyable so people don't DC, that's a low effort fallacy that works on trolls.
It is VERY much a valid argument once you see the amount of people who DC over the littlest of things. I thought it was back in the day when people would give up over not getting their Deliverance. But now if its any little thing like a chase going badly or simply a weak killer they don't like they just give up on hook or DC.
-
@Roco45 said:
Yes, give people punishments instead of, checks notes, making the game fun for everyone. Yes, what this video game needs, that people play for fun, is punishment on top of punishment, but I guess anything to force random human beings into playing a match with you lol
You can't appease everyone. People will give up over the littlest things.
-
Tunneling and slugging is when the killer leaves people on the ground or intentionally ignores everyone else to target one survivor out the match.
But these are also choices that survivors can influence. If survivors want to throw their second chance perks in my face then yeah I'll slug them because why not free pressure and possible waste of unbreakable. They can also incentivize me heavily to tunnel if they just keep running up to hook to save basically in my face. -

If you can get back to the hook so fast you may as well have been face camping then it's a distinction without a difference. The 'face' in face camping isn't the problem - if it was then you may as well just call it an anti-bubba/anti-billy mechanic because that's all it's good for.
Yeah but fact is it's not face camping unless you're sitting in front of hook. Argue all you want but its by definition not face camping if you're outside the anti-face camp range. You'd also be surprised how many hooks become way more safe to at least trade on with the anti face camp. One good example is midwich stair hooks. There's a lot of hook spawns on midwich where the killer can either block a door way or hold a really high traffic area.

But it doesn't reduce the effectiveness of the camping, especially if you're playing a ranged, mobile, or teleporting Killer (which is what, 3/4ths of the roster now?). I know a lot of people like to bring up hook trades as an argument, but if a Survivor trades and is now on hook being camped by the Killer, then we're back to square one.
Because its not MEANT to reduce the effectiveness of camping. It's mean to reduce the effectiveness of FACE camping aka standing RIGHT IN FRONT of the hooked survivor. IF you hook trade you buy your team more time compared to someone whose already been sitting for a while. It's better to get the person off before they hit the next hook stage and give your fresh 70 second stage than to put so much more pressure on your team. You get more time to reset, work on gens if the killer is actually sitting by hook and less pressure for the killer in general. If a killer is literally sitting by the hook you get either the most free 3 out of all time when played correctly (which isn't that hard) or the game is already in a losing state for the killer.
