  • It's because it's an awkward waste of time for the killer who's left twiddling his thumbs for two minutes waiting on the last survivors to die on hook.

It's a nice QoL change, ends the match quicker since it's obviously already over.

  • Gens are too close together or easy 3-gen:

Midwich, Haddonfield, Dead Dawg, Azarov's, Thompson House, Torment Creek, Father Campbell's Chapel, Family Residence, Sanctum of Wrath, Suffocation Pit

Gens are too far apart or are otherwise indefensible:

Eyrie of Crows, RPD, Giddeon's, Mother's Dwelling, Temple of Purgation, Pale Rose, Grim Pantry, Disturbed Ward, Fractured Cowshed, Blood Lodge, Gas Heaven, Groaning Storehouse, Ironworks of Misery, Shelter Woods

  • You can just do what everyone did before the patch and get perks at tier 1 and then unlock them on the survivors or killers you actually play.

Grind is much smaller now. A friend of mine that had zero teachables unlocked at the start of the play session got two survivors to prestige 1 in just four hours of casual gameplay. That's 6 perks at tier 1, without having to go through any extra bloodwebs.

Many perks are just as good at tier 1 as they are at tier 3, in addition to that. If you really wanted them at tier 3, just spend points on your favorite character until you have them at tier 3.

  • mmr actually works for the most part. Played with my friend who is mostly brand new, and we mostly got baby killers. I switched to solo, and I was vs'ing really competent killer again.

Problem is the queues are always very lopsided, so the system is kind of forced to give you mostly random matchmaking instead of giving you someone you should be playing against.

  • I went from playing pretty much only killer, to playing quite a lot of solo queue this patch. Pretty only due to queue times, but I do enjoy playing survivor.

All I gotta say is two things:

1: Curb your expectations. You are NOT escaping every game this patch because your teammates are no longer getting carried by Dead Hard. You can no longer run a meme build and expect to escape anyway.

2: Use information perks. The reason solo players make such awful decisions is because they lack info.

Perks like Blast Mine, Better Together, and the upcoming Wiretap tells your teammates two things: where a gen is, and that someone is working on it. Repressed Alliance also tells survivors where a gen is.

Aftercare, Blood Pact, and Empathic Connection tell survivors where you are and what you are doing (and so does Wake Up! and Kindred). This means no more "random accidentally led the killer to you for the umpteenth time" situations.

The special part of having your aura revealed also means you can communicate long distance with pointing and waving, and shaking your head no. You can point at a survivor, and then point at the hook to signal that they need to unhook. Do a couple times and they'll get the hint. You can also point at a survivor on gen and shake your head "no." Many players will realize this means that they need to save that particular gen for later, since completing it will three gen your team.

You have every tool available to you to solve your problems in solo queue. It's up to you if you whether you decide that means you need to be a team player and help your team win, or be yet another one of literally hundreds of thousands of "le epic edgy lone wolfs" that just throws on four strong and selfish perks that don't help your team with making better decisions in any way. Running Adrenaline and Off the Record is not going to help your teammates get gens done.

The survivors are a TEAM, even if they are four solo queue players. You need to play like you're on a team if you want to win, you can't 1v1 the killer anymore.

  • you could try trapping the dull totem after you snuff the boon. The person who triggers it will likely be the booner. Tunnel them out, and no more boons.

I would say the only solution is to just DC. But they threatened to ban me if I encouraged it. So I need to be clear and tell you NOT to DC. Do not, it is against the rules. Holding the game hostage is not, I guess? I do not know, they will not add a forfeit option to save people from being held hostage because it is intended, clearly. So, again, do not disconnect. That is against the rules. Just take your loss even if it takes up to 2 hours.

DbD is such a mess lol. any other game would just have a match timer, instead of being weirdly stubborn and supporting 1 hour+ long matches.

Why is there no match timer? Legitimately no reason not to have one.

  • I give it if they ask for it by not struggling after pick-up or by giving me their item. Otherwise, I just kill them since it's much faster.

I bought Resident Evil 5 yesterday just because of Wesker. It's fun to play but the controls kinda suck lol.

The controls take a lot of getting used to. Once it "clicks" though, the movement and shooting is a lot of fun.

You have to be really thoughtful about how you move and when you decide to stop and shoot. You really can't afford to get caught out shooting in a bad position, since you don't have the movement speed to get somewhere safe quickly enough.

  • I'm an RE5 fanboy, and I like having all the perks so I can look around for weird synergies

  • I play really hard to win most of the time, but I'm more of a casual try-hard than a full-blown sweat. I still meme with the survivors occasionally, and I'll let one person go if they earned it.

I prefer playing against good players, so I try to get MMR high and avoid letting it go down.

  • I still slug to snowball pressure if I see another survivor close by.

But as survivor, most killers insta-pick up downed survivors. Slugging seems to really only happen when they're getting moisty and drippy for that 4k.

  • I've been running Breakdown now and again.

It's a hard counter to all scourge hooks, but the problem is that you generally need two people running. Not to mention that you aren't getting hooked on a scourge hook every time, and killers don't always bring it.

The aura reading that Breakdown gives you is great for avoiding the killer with Off The Record, though.

  • Giddeon's needs some help. There's just too many un-mindgameable god pallets, and not enough regular loops. The non-god pallets on Giddeon are all pretty fun to play I just wish there was more fun window loops instead of literally only having one T-L on the entire map and having god pallets peppered all over the place.

Camping the hook is (in my opinion) never a justifiable play style. It is sweaty and not enjoyable for the poor survivor you are face camping.

Reassurance is a band aid on a larger problem. If they nerf this perk I hope that they make hook stages longer to match longer gen times and punish the killer for camping.

There's a time and a place to camp hook. If the survivors cluster around hook like hungry seagulls, and you have to ask "why would the killer leave the hook to go find someone else, when there's someone else right here? Why not camp the hooked survivor while simultaneously chasing another?"

You can punish survivors for greeding gens by going back to hook. No one unhooked in time, now you can camp the hook for a mere 10-15 seconds and get a free hook state out of it and maybe even hook another survivor while you're there... or slug them if you see another survivor, essentially dooming the survivor team for one mistake. One guy on hook that's almost dead, one guy on the ground close to hook, and one guy getting chased near hook. It's a demonstration of good game sense. You know what the survivors are doing, so you make a play that punishes them for doing it.

Also after the gens are done, there is not much else for the killer to do other than camp hook and take 1 for 1s until someone dies.

I have never had any of these mythical long legion games. The whole thing is just meme in the classic sense that people run away with.

Expecting people to agree with your ideas and decrying those who don't as somehow selfish is bizzare and entitled. Your ideas are bad and not needed. If they were worthwhile they'd gain traction. That's the sad truth of the thing.

Just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean it's not happening. That is literally how two year olds think: if they didn't see it happen and it didn't happen to them, it never happened.

  • I've played with a few South Africans, and a couple Nigerians and people from Niger.

    There's quite a few

  • Depends on queue times and how many matches I play. Fastest is around three or four days, other times I don't hit iri at all despite playing daily.

  • You could check out CoconutRTS or Ralph on youtube/twitch. Also, hi again!

I think that's way too optimistic. We've had a lot of recent perks (well, past two years recent) that are really dangerous on Nurse, and the only Nurse change we've seen was buffing 3-blink Nurse to be viable.

I think you're right. I prefer to cling to hope than to plummet into despair.

Nurse need fixin'. There's no two ways around it, and I'm not so sure we can count on BHVR to deliver.

    Power through. It's 1 game.

Do you think I want every Killer changed to be like Demogorgon because I think every Killer other than Demogorgon is boring? No

One thirty to forty minute game, followed by another thirty to forty minute game against another Legion with an almost identical build and playstyle.... followed by three more identical games against Legion with a near identical build to the last Legion.

Legion is boring as hell, and is extremely common. Legion is a fun killer to play, don't get me wrong. I love to run fast and eat ass, but from the survivor POV is just gets... exhausting.

Problem is the matches are too f'ing long bc Mending Simulator. I've posted solutions to stacking slowdown and to Legion causing Mending Simulator, but on these "ME ME ME" forums where no one cares about anything other than their own personal experience, I guess it doesn't matter.

  • I think that they're going to turn blink attacks into special attacks in the midchapter after wesker drops. no way is starstruck AA nurse gonna stay in the game for longer than a month or two

The topic is about Legion with Thanataphobia and other slowdown Perks.

Just have 1 Survivor healed up and Thanataphobia doesn't exist anymore

    Thanataphobia counter ^^

Rest of the slowdown Perks Killers have are self-explanatory when it comes to countering them.

Legion is still an M1 Killer that can be looped for a long time. Losing the a Legion meins your team was bad, or the Legion was too good for your team to handle

problem isn't winning or losing, problem is it's ######### boring

  • The higher your MMR, the better players you face. The better players you face, the more you learn and the better you become.

Why are we complaining, again? Don't you want to improve and get better? Or do you want to stay in purgatory and stomp noobs because it boosts your ego?

  • It would be nice if the game had a timer. Like 30 minutes is the absolute longest a game can go, no reason to let games go on longer than that.

Sorry, but you are just wrong, and cases of good players versus other equally good players on Nurse comes out roughly even (outside of one-side favored maps/people doing meme builds or not playing seriously or whatever/etc), both in and out of competitive. Competitive has pretty much all VODs on YouTube and/or Twitch.

As for non-competitive, there's both proof that good players can do just fine in a chase against a good Nurse, as well as that games overall also are roughly even when all skill levels are more or less equal.

Examples of the former: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ig_iQ5S-ABA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnjfG_sLfQg&t=213s (1v1s with SupaAlf, a semi-frequent competitive player and Nurse main)

Examples of the latter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_R-gkMwKpA (SupaAlf on MMR Test Day 3 where equal skill matches were prioritized over queue time) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4ZHFVowqws (Fubs vs partial tournament SWF in regular non-tournament KYF) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30TKsT-s8Y8 (Ayrun's chases versus a decent Nurse)

The main issue with players of super high caliber is the same issue that exists in any versus game with matchmaking literally ever. There's not enough people of their level on consistently for said even matchups. So they get matched with worse players for the sake of queue times. Which is exactly why good players get massive winstreaks on basically anything and everything. You have solo survivors getting 400+ escape streaks without keys and then stopped counting cause they couldn't be bothered to remember anymore, and people getting anywhere from 50-150+ killstreaks on basically every single killer in this game, like someone playing pre-buff Legion with meme builds and getting over 150 wins in a row when they weren't even trying to go for a streak in the first place and only started keeping count because they noticed they were doing well afterwards.

Good players stomping players that are worse than them is not a balance issue. If it was, literally every single thing in this game would be busted, including solo survivors and even the weakest killers.

    based and nuance-pilled

  • Read a book or play guitar or something while you wait. That's what I do, if I REALLY need to play killer to get footage or something

Edit: Solo queue isn't even that bad, it's pretty fun still. People just whine a lot.

  • I think the cause is that survivors started to eat tons of apples

  • I think it's because solo queue is harder now, and killer is easier now.

So a lot of solo queue survivor mains are now playing killer, when they normally would be playing solo queue.

  • Prove saves you around 7, 10, or 13 seconds depending on how many survivors are on a gen. So two survivors stacking on a gen without Prove are only 7 seconds slower. A solo survivor with Prove still take a full 90 seconds on gen.

Resilience shaves off 7.5 seconds, down to 82.5 seconds.

Overzealous saves you a similar amount of time.

These perks are not really all that impactful. Toolboxes with Streetwise and Built to Last tend to delete gens a bit more efficiently, though. But the upcoming Hyperfocus perk needs to not work with toolboxes, since it lets you repair gens in 45 seconds. Only reason the change needs to happen is that toolboxes pretty double your skill checks, so you can get way more Hyperfocus stacks. Especially with Stakeout.

Imo, gen speed perks don't need a nerf. If losing 7 seconds on a gen now and again costs you the game, you are REALLY playing things by the wire.

  • Solo queue actually isn't that bad. I've been playing a LOT of solo queue this patch, using mostly team perks like Aftercare and Empathic Connection.

Also Visionary or Deja Vu for breaking three gens, and Botany or Prove for saving time.

You just have to actually think and plan as survivor now instead of stumbling ass-backwards onto victory. (I pretty much exclusively did that before this patch 😅)

  • I wanna see more Deathslinger and Twins.

It's very rare to vs them, and rarer still to vs a good one.

  • I mostly see

    Pinhead

    Nemesis

    Demogorgon

    Huntress

Also seeing WAY more Slingers lately, which is great since I love to vs him.

  • It would be cool if you could just straight up buy any perk you want with iri shards, and the shrine was just perks on sale. It would still be much faster to just buy the character and prestige them, but having the option would be nice if you don't want to drop money to get two characters you're not going to play and 5 perks you don't want to use when all you want is Call of Brine.

It wasn't too long ago that the game was pay to skip too, when BBQ had double bloodpoints and pre-rework Bubba was easily the worst killer in the game.

  • If you want to be a gigachad, body block while in deep wounds to force legion out of his power

  • I main killer for a reason lol

I enjoy survivor, don't get me wrong. Just like half the killers in the game are pretty not so fun to vs, nearly all the rest are just alright, and there's like 3 that I genuinely get excited about playing against (and two of them have the lowest pick rate in the game)

  • Legion, Pig, and Pinhead. Matches take 20+ minutes due to the killer's natural slowdown.

Hag, Bubba, and Trickster. These guys are mostly fine, but they can just decide to start hard camping at anytime and there's very little you can do to secure an unhook.

Pyramid Head, Nemesis, and Artist. Annoying lose/lose gameplay at every single loop. Anti-loop is fun on most killers, but with these ones it's just quite boring to look at all your available options and it basically amounts to "do you want to be hit by an M1 or an M2."

I also dislike vs'ing Spirit with MDR and Cherry Blossom. You just can't really do anything meaningful in chase other than pray you get to a window or pallet in time. Spirit without busted add-ons is fine, though.

  • Sweat: Twins and Legion. I can't turn off the sweat when I play these killers, it's too satisfying to play efficiently with them.

Fun: Slinger and Bubba. Prolly 50% of my playtime has been playing Deathslinger, I always enjoy him. Bubba is just very relaxing to play, you don't have to try very hard at all to get good results with him.

  • Unironically pretty good job so far.

The fact that DbD didn't die in 2016 is something of a miracle. Not many people could pull off making an asymmetric game in a brand new genre and not have it crash and burn. I'll say it again, DbD being popular and successful is something of a miracle.

  • It would be completely broken and OP. It's very, VERY easy to land your harpoons. Over obstacles, through obstacles, through walls, around corners, from below obstacles and hitting you in the ankle... If he could shoot you from 18m and you just go down, it would be pretty boring for the survivor.

It would make Slinger go from being ""bad Huntress"" to ""better Huntress""

  • Sometimes it feels like the Dead by Daylight community was raised on a steady diet of toxic waste and cranial blunt force trauma.

  • Her eyes are extremely disturbing. It looks like she has no pupils or iris, like she's some kind of zombie or ghost.

I personally despise looking at at her face because of this.

Twins is the Adam of killers. Forgotten by the devs

idk, Adam has some pretty fly skins. Not to mention is much more attractive than the Twins 😉

  • An all time classic.

Edit: Bring Alert with Blast Mine so you can watch the killer get clowned on in real time from across the map

  • Here lately, Lucky Break is pretty annoying since a savvy survivor with the perk and a strong medkit can pull a Danny Phantom on you every time you hit them.

Circle of Healing is an all-time classic of frustrating perks to vs. It makes spreading damage less rewarding since you won't be able injure someone and then find them later while they are still injured. Against CoH, you need to be really good at getting two hits on survivors quickly if you don't have an instadown, since you can no longer leave people injured for later.

You might need to cause I can't remember the last time I lost to Slinger. Even facing some in the very few matches i've done post 6.1.0. I know killers like Trapper, Sadako, Trickster, Myers, Clown, and Pig might be the some people's go-to choices but to me even they don't feel as punishing and unsatisfying to play to me as DS. Compared to those other ranged killers, Deathslinger has way more limitations and gets punished more for missing. His ADS and FOV are whack and he can't down over pallet or if he's not close enough to a window. Does not necessarily mean he is an awful killer, just not enjoyable to me as he is to others.

Indeed, I rarely lose to Slinger as well. I genuinely think that he's a strong killer, just most players are simply terrible with him. Kind of like another killer that is extremely strong in chase and gives survivors little counterplay, but many people do not play them much due to the initial learning curve...

So much about doing well with him is very specific to the survivors' playstyle, as well as each individual loop that you are at. That's why I've been having trouble with how to make a guide with him. It the attention to detail and experimentation that makes him strong, it's hard to paint broad strokes and give general advice with him other than "do more mindgames".

He also has very strange perk synergies, so he does well with unusual perks like Deathbound and Trail of Torment.

Oni start nearly as weak as myers you forgot him. You lose match if you don't get early hit and if you get early hit you have chance to win. Good survivors will delay that hit very long and oni should have antiloop to injure survivors or 120% movement speed.

At least Oni is appropriately rewarded for his time investment with "sicko mode". Oni is just an M1 killer at the start, but Myers is literally WORSE than a standard M1 killer at start.

  • @Nun_So_Vile said:

Deathslinger. He just has the least redeemable features to me. They absolutely gutted Caleb.

Slinger is still extremely strong. He can shoot over most obstacles, hit people around corners, and shoot through the walls in a lot of situations where Huntress and Trickster could only dream of getting a hit. Vaulting a window while Slinger has LoS is always a guaranteed hit, and many loops are still extremely dangerous even with the pallet dropped. Not to mention the fact that he makes mind-games extremely rewarding since all he needs is LoS.

I need to make a guide on him lol

1 … 7 8 9 10 11 … 17
