still no and if you cant comprehend it, your brain has failed you. killers complain because theres a balance issue that eats away at the game.
playing killer is a stressfest since generators are done so fast, playing survivor isnt really a stressfest, its more relaxed.
Killers TEND (note the word tend) to complain about balance issues. Survivors tend to just be toxic in general by the tactic the killer is using.
-
ive edited the "slugging" part because i assumed it just meant that you hit someone.
the only way to end it should be breaking line of sight. the chase has ended. of course downing a person tends to end the chase so that ends bloodlust too, unless another guy is standing in front of you i guess. at the very bare minimum the bloodlust should still remain active if you break a pallet.

i am, however, not sure this is harassment.
its a broken gameplay, sure, not balanced as it was supposed to, but probably not harassment.
i want to throw many hours in to this game, but knowing that no matter what i do, the gameplay is super imbalanced, then im not sure i want to.

meanwhile i get flamed for winning, and essentially for losing almost every game i play.

No it totally is greed, because as I point you can still double pip.
You want a fix? Killer can't pull you out of the hatch anymore. Problem solved, now the survivor can just jump in.
@Dr_doom_j2 said:
What is really your problem with a balanced hatch? Like, why do you think two gens being done should equal auto escape? And if that is in fact what you believe, which is evidenced in your dismissal of any discussion involving a balanced hatch, why don't you just ask the devs for a free portal that spawns near the survivor when they are the last alive? Would it really be any different from resolving to leave the hatch as a free escape that is fairly out of the killers control except when slugging? Do survivors enjoy slugging so much, they will defend a broken mechanic so that they can bleed out every game?
Why do you think not 5 gens done should be auto-4k?
Truth is it's not an auto-escape. Survivors have to do 2 gens collectively than ONLY ONE can take the hatch. If they have a key they have to do more gens, still not auto-escape. There is also the fact that survivor has to find the hatch too, which if only 2 gens are done won't happen until the last guy dies.
Either play so that hatch doesn't spawn or accept that a survivor might get away. Take some risk, stop asking for free 4k's every game.
Missed the forest for the tree's again I see. Oh look, you missed your point too.
The hatch stand off is only the specific situation in which the killer and survivor are both staring at each other over the hatch. It is not when one person has a key and enough gens are done, and everyone escapes. We aren't discussing that, I don't care about that.
A hatch standoff can Only happen when the survivor and killer are both aware that the hatch is close by, that both are aware that each other are aware of it's location, when the survivor finds the hatch and happen to be in the killers TR, or when the killer finds the hatch first, because if he finds it and doesn't camp it, the survivor will search the area the killers TR is in and just rush knowing even if the killer catches up, there is literally nothing he can do if the survivor doesn't make an unsafe jump.
The fact that it is to the killers disadvantage, yet also necessary for the killer to find the hatch should tell you HOW ridiculous it is as a mechanic
And are you going to sit here and tell me dude, that a group of 4 survivors are supposed to have trouble getting two gens finished before you kill three of them? Stop making up Bullshit for the sake of argument. I mean really, unless you exclusively play HillBilly or are extremely good at nurse, how many games do you have where less than at least two gens are finished by the time you get 3 survivors dead on hook(he'll, include mori games if you must)?
And then you say that the survivor can't possibly know where the hatch is unless the second to last is dead..... Nothing smarmy or smart here, do you actually know the conditions under which the hatch, at first spawns, and secondly, opens? If 2 gens are done and two are alive, both can see the hatch before it even opens, allowing for plans to be made. In SWF, this is essentially a 100% free escape for one, especially if they thought to bring maps or hell, have any game knowledge. The hatch spawns aren't that numerous.
But even in the average scenario with no comms, it's still a free escape.
You ask why I think 5 gens not done should equal 4k? Well I don't necessarily, but I think that doing gens is your objective, and having failed that objective should mean you are no longer in a position of safety from your possible consequence. The hatch is just a bit too much of a safety net, that is all.
Well what are survivors supposed to do then? Just run to the killer and say here is your free kill?
maybe do your god damn objective and finish the last generators? why do you sound like you're SUPPOSED to get the hatch just because your team died?
if that was the case they might as well change the hatch entirely so that the last survivor gets insta teleported beyond the gates and out.
you dont NEED to use the hatch, and you arent entitled to insta jump through the killer when he hits you and poof you go, in to Alice in wonderlands rabbithole.
but you know what? this discussion was never really about whether the hatch is fair or not. it was about how we entirely avoid this stand off mechanic.

So you’re saying let the last guy go because he’s the last guy? Just because I’ve already pipped/double pipped does not mean I’m going to be a nice Killer and let the last one escape for no good reason.
Remove Killer's grab from hatch ability but place a aura read on the last Survivor for the Killer. Now Survivor is about finding the hatch quickly and Killer is about catching the Survivor. Right now both just look for the hatch, and it's kind of a silly purpose on the Killer side... shouldn't he/she be hunting the Survivor and not the hatch? Add a constant or majority aura read going on to help the Killer out.
that wouldnt help the survivors or situation.
lets say the second last survivor gets hooked. then the killer simply camps that second last guy, because the moment the second last survivor dies, the killer gets an aura reading of the last survivor. that would be horrible, because the last survivor would quickly try and find the hatch to inevitably escape now that he has an aura around him, rather than actually trying to help the hooked survivor.
Hmm, true. Many Killers do often camp their 2nd to last catch though hoping the Survivor will go for the save anyways. They know they are winning at that point and the last Survivor can only do so much on his or her by that point.
The Hatch is flawed, but the last Survivor or two do need motivation to not give up. Closing the hatch was good in theory, but it was very faulty as Killers have bigger map presence than Survivors and can find it faster and more likely during the match itself. The 3rd fix was also heavily flawed as it rewarded Survivors to just go camp the door and wait for the Killer to stomp the hatch shut.
Not sure if there really is a solution.
i think there are solutions
like, let the killer grab or insta down survivors X meters within the hatch, when its open ofc, so it only applies to the last. that way at least the stand off would not exist.
all in all, the hatch isnt something that the survivor MUST use to get out, they can still do gens. and this way the killer can actually avoid the stand off entirely.
another way and probably my favorite is, that the hatch requires a small "repair" timer. you progress it, like when you use the normal gates or a generator. just give it small 10 seconds. that way the survivor cant jump through the killer between the recovery time, but the hatch is still faster than going through the last generators and then powering the gate.

Must be mistaken then, I did play with you as of late though. I recognize the name and have been grinding Jake boi to Prestige him. (rip my halloween goodies) I played like 4 matches the other day with 2 being a godly Hillbilly who was the same person, a Pig (prob you then), and that Leatherface match with the camp/hatch stand off. My bad, my story still indicates how some Killers use the hatch and create standoffs on their own accord as they hunt the hatch and stand on it. It really feels silly for that to be the goal of the Killers instead of getting the Survivor first.
So I still propose no "grab at hatch" interaction but Killer gets the Survivor's aura. Makes both sides more about the rush and getting their objective first rather than Killers sitting on the hatch.
hmm.. well maybe i dont know. i actually made this post after a hatch stand off when i played the huntress. i actually DID win the stand off by throwing hatches against the guy who tried to bait but regardless of the win, it made me realize that the mechanic was flawed.
i agree though. when one survivor is left i search for the hatch too. i dont want the stand off but i know they will search for it too, so if i find it, maybe they're near it.
and yea if it was a godly hillbilly, it wasnt me. i only have high level on the Pig and the Wraith. and when i say high level i mean 30 ish. i get in to groups that tend to smash me as the pig mostly.

the mechanic still needs a change because its broken.
if a mechanic is broken it should be fixed.
everyone basically said they agreed with me on the fact that the hatch is broken from what i can read. sure they said they just let people go, and dont bother having a stare off, so they avoid the issue that way.
but thats basically the same thing as acknowledging that there is an issue, but you just ignore it and let your objective go because it takes too much time.
the hatch is broken (at that part only, im not interested in how many gens must be done etc), and whether you agree or not, you all basically pointed out that there IS an issue. whether you do a stand off or not, you can still be in the situation, and thats wrong. you've all seen it, so you know its possible to be in that ######### situation.

They had some changes in the last PTB (not the current one, one before that), but they didn't really play out well. It'll be better eventually.
The frustrating part is that we had a fix. It was fine. Hell, I would have taken the last fix where you close the hatch but now they can get the gates. At least then they don't get away for free and there's something you can do about it.
The fact that you think it's fine as-is say's a lot. Yes, Survivor's need ANOTHER 2nd chance that lets them get away and win and talk ######### in the chat proclaiming how amazing they are.
yea because being caught 3 times (4 with DS and several more with flashlight shinenigans or blockings) isnt enough chances for them to survive. they also needed a free teleport if the rest of the team died.
lets sprinkle that hatch with some fancy time waste by making it possible to have a stand off on the hatch.
i can move, but im not supposed to because my objective is to kill. the mechanic is broken end of discussion. not the hatch as whole, but the stand off part is.
-
So all in all, they knew years ago that it was a problem when it was released, and only now do they start acknowledging it as a problem.
and we still have to wait months before they ACTUALLY decide to do something, because on that 1½ year + months, they havent come up with a good way to nerf it.
i guess moving fast isnt a thing these developers are known for.
and lets couple it with the fact that every person needs to get hooked 3 times to even die. so.. to kill all as the killer you need to:
catch people 16 times if all of them run DS and hook them, all the while it takes like 70 seconds to repair 1 generator. a game is over sometimes in 6-7 minutes so please..can someone do the math here. sometimes a chase alone can be 30 seconds long. lets factor in that you have to find survivors too... and then drag them to the hook.. and waste time being stunned when DS kicks in.
yea i dont see it. i dont see how the generator repair speed coupled with an entire team with DS, can even remotely be fair towards the killer.
while this is a Decisive strike thread, i would like to point out that generators really need to be repaired slower. much slower. i mean my god, you have to be really outclassed to even lose as a survivor. and after that you still have that nifty hatch you can use. why dont the developers just give all survivors knives while we're at it.
i mean for a game where the one killer is supposed to be the big bad guy to merit being alone versus 4, he sure holds very little actual power.
-
funny how it takes them so long to fix something when they already know now its a problem.
-
i mean for the love of christ.
if you want to teabag and all your shinenigans then do it. if you wanna loop around stuff and constantly flash your flashlight be my guest.
but that coupled with the constant threats and ######### remarks towards the killer after the game is over, because he camped or just didnt get any kills (any reason really), is the reason this game has a reputation for being toxic as #########.
and no its not both sides evenly that are toxic. i do play survivor, mostly meg or claudette, and most killers that are irritated are rarely actually toxic. they mostly make remarks as to: why do you have to constantly loop, or get frustrated over mechanics that are heavily biased towards the survivor side, leaving only few killers actually viable, and even then, some are only viable with specific perks.
but for the most case, killers either say nothing, say something about the general balance of the game, or GG. unless someone teabagged him from my team, then sometimes they get angered over that. which makes sense.
but Survivors mostly always go full on ######### on the chat after the game. sometimes its a regular GG. thats fine, makes sense. but for the most case, its a remark about how bad the killer was if he got no kills, and if he camped, or did anything else like tunneling, they'll flame him for it.
i play maybe 70% killer, 30% survivor, and those survivor matches i do have, i rarely see killers go full on flame mode. but i always get flamed as a killer, almost every single game, in case i decide to camp.
camp = instant full on toxic mode from the survivors. despite the fact that none of them looked at the perks, and saw i have room for 1 perk slot on my low level killers, where as they are fully fledged purple perk with full slots, which would make it impossible for me to even get a single kill unless i DO camp.
Killers dont give this game a bad rep, survivors does and their inability to see that the game is leaning towards the survivors to the point where 2 survivors could probably win against 1 killer if they did well. and thats kind of not the idea, when you have a team of 4.

Is blowing up a generator to distract a killer not valid because it doesn't give me points? What about bodyblocking a hatchet at the exit gate? It doesn't give me protection points unless I'm right next to an injured player, ergo it must not be an objective, according to your made up standards.

you get points for hooking and sacrifices, thats what you get for camping. you get points.
how have i made up any rules here? the game is already very biased towards survivors making newer killers very powerless with no perks and nothing. surviving isnt that hard, the only thing thats hard is to get a guy unhooked versus a camper, and thats why you all whine. because its hard. as the one and only thing for survivors.

And the logic of thinking one survivor shouldnt have the option of the hatch because they faild and died, isnt that like saying why should killers who cant get the job done get to rely on NoED.
It is what it is. Both sides have crutches. I see no problem at all with either. Be the bigger man/woman and end the match, let them have the hatch. I had to leave spectate mode because while I got coffee and went to the bathroom, they still kept staring. Just dont let pride ruin your time.
This is a balance argument, not one of pride. It would be better to have a mechanic that did not solely rely on who can waste the most time, agreed?
exactly.
i have to say this and i might get major backlash for it, but i say it regardless.
Most that have posted in this thread ive made are complete idiots (yes idiots, hate me if you want, but if you start talking about what you do, then you failed to understand my post). its not about hours played, its not about how good you are, its about a simple mechanic that has failed.
its not even remotely a pride issue. and most people say the same stupid thing: just let them go, dont waste your time on them, bla bla bla. i dont care about what you guys do, i never asked for tips on how to end it (i can obviously just let them use the hatch i mean come on). its just when you guys respond in this thread, you pretty much state that you dont understand the issue im trying to explain. you ignore the issue because its easiest. thats good. do that, i do that too (by letting survivors go as i play) but it doesnt change the fact that there IS in fact, a god damn problem. and thats why i made this thread.
the issue at hand is that its POSSIBLE to have a stand off with me standing on the hatch, and a survivor looking me in the eyes. its POSSIBLE because the mechanic has failed. its not about whether it happens often, because it doesnt. its not about whether i cant let them through, because i can.
but im not SUPPOSED to let them go through, its my objective to kill them. but i SHOULD let them through if i DONT want to waste time staring at a person. thats the gist here.
the Hatch mechanic just fails at that point, when what i want most is to let a survivor go, but im really supposed to go for kills.Again, thats the objective, i dont care about pride, its what im supposed to do (do the rest of you dolts get it now?). and if the mechanic makes me go against my objective, then its a failed mechanic. its not about what i want, its about what makes sense, and this staring contest, makes none.
there needs to be a small fix to this hatch issue so that killers dont "have" to let survivors go in order to not waste time.
please dont tell me what YOU do, i dont care about what YOU do. what i care about is to tell the world, as one of many, that there is a direct issue with the hatch. its not a huge issue, its not an issue that happens often either, but its there. ive been there.
so Fix it please.

I like the mechanic because sometimes I won't use Whispers and it will be THAT game that the remaining player wants to stealth the game up for 25 minutes. [BAD WORD] that. That's 15 minutes too long. Gimme hatch any day, all day... and then I'll give it to them if they don't jump in within 10 seconds.once again do you prove that the hatch has issues, but you simply refuse to deal with that issue.
having the hatch is fair. but you're supposed to kill the survivors. thats your objective. you cant do that if you let him purposefully leave.
so when you say: i let them leave because i dont wanna do the waiting game (which is fair and i understand that), then the game has put you in a situation in which doing your objective is no longer prefered, and has thus failed. the hatch has failed as a mechanic, in that situation. (it works on other situations tho).
the hatch DOES have problems and issues. the issue isnt so much that people can escape, but simply this staring game. it should be fixed in a way that avoids it entirely, through some sort of means that allows them to get out, or allows them to be taken out.
so again, you're not supposed to "let them" get out, and if the game puts you in a situation where thats most beneficial for you so you can get to a new game, then the game and the hatch mechanic has failed as whole and should be revisited.

I feel sad when i read this because i can understand OP.
flashlights are not a huge problem for me anymore as i tend to run around hitting people then when they're a bit away from me, i grab the guy i want while my back is facing them. they often dont have enough time to run over and flashlight stun me. the moment i grab the guy, i turn around another way. often my screen is white, but i wasnt stunned.
but ofc they also have DS so i guess the chase would be long again.

i cant believe what im reading.
im asking for a fix to an actual issue, and people say they dont see an issue. how they "deal with it" is by letting the survivor go? how the F does that FIX anything? you are letting your objective go. the moment there was a stand off on a hatch it became apparent that this is an issue, but most of you killers simply refuse to DEAL with that situation by letting the person go. you can atleast acknowledge that this is actually a problem, and you simply dont deal with it, when you let your objective go because you dont wanna waste the time.
Having to sit on a hatch and literally wait for the survivor to walk away from the hatch, to a generator, before i can run after him is a waste of time, and trust me i can sit for a very long time before they decide to go for that generator.
this entire hatch stand-off is in the hands of the survivor. if he doesnt move, then i cant move. i will NOT let him out if i can avoid it. because the game is about me killing them. if i let him out because i dont want to wait anymore, which most of you guys do, thats just another way of agreeing with me, that this hatch is causing issues. letting your objective go is not a fix, its simply a way of ending the game.
letting survivors go because of this issue, is a flaw in the game. if the survivor wants he can sit in front of the hatch for as long as he wants, because he knows if i hit him, i lose. i would very much like to kill survivors running for generators, but i cant as long as they arent actually going for them.
Killers should be able to grab people when they are too close to the hatch, insta down them, or close the hatch. this is a waste of the killers time, and quite possibly the survivors too. but then again, i have little to say about the survivors. its pretty much their fault after all, they can do generators, but most refuse to do that and sit at the hatch.

As Killer I avoid the whole situation, as soon as I see the hatch I pretty much go to a corner and wait for them to leave, I don't want to wait for them to creep around me to get to it, just go for it so I can move on, but that also fails because of the undeniable survivor urge to teabag me as I walk to it after waiting forever.because going to the corner and waiting for them to leave, THATS the right answer. just because you dont want to "deal" with the situation, doesnt mean you found a work around. you did not. and its a killers job to get kills, not let them escape, so i wont let them escape. so it annoys me when theres a mechanic in the game that prevents me from doing my job, because hitting them results in them escaping through the hatch.
if i can get in to a situation where its coming down to a staring contest, they ######### up the hatch is a bad mistake. its great that survivors has one chance to get a single survivor out (no its not its crap) but to avoid this staring contest, its quite easy to fix. just add a function that puts survivors in the dying state if they're hit near the hatch.
bam. simple fix. Staring contest is now officially over.

well i most certainly think it should on certain occations.

The hit stops the progress, but they can usually redo another attempt and get them lose before your cooldown is done. You likely just didn't notice they restarted the attempt.if you want to stop the attempt cold, you need to be going for a grab like others have explained. Getting a wounding on the guy doing the rescue is never a bad thing though. Rotating people on the hook is an acceptable outcome in most cases.
dunno. ive been hitting plenty guys unhooking and the guy still ended up going down. maybe it was after the bar was done and the animation of them carrying them down just wasnt over i dont know. it would appear that the bar is shorter than the animation

Try switching to Myers starting out. His power is dependent on keeping people in your line of sight, and many people know this. As a result, they tend to not sit there T-bagging you forever (especially before you get to Evil Within 2) as doing so only lets you draw power off them. This at least creates the illusion you are feared. Additionally, a good Myers is one of the few killers even experienced players get creeped out by.i have tried Meyers a bit but im uncertain as to really how to play that guy.

No killer can grab off gens or unhook from stealth. If you cant regular attack, cant grabim not talking about the pig. im talking in general.
a regular hit doesnt stop unhooking. and unless you get them pretty quick, the unhooker (odd word) wont be grabbed, just hit. while that makes sense on people vaulting or going through windows, i feel like the unhooking should stop if the person gets hit.

i have no ######### clue how to use his Chainsaw.
after its churned up and ready to go, for the first second after i cant move my mouse, because if i do he makes this ######### ######### super turn which puts me out of my wanted course.

You know what.
i get that you can grab people that tries to unhook, but most of the times, you are too late so you only get the hit in, and they still get the guy down. they both run off afterwards.
so yea, hitting someone should stop the unhooking, because im being ganged up on so hard. all of them just run up and spam unhook and eventually they get the person down and run off injured.

You can grab them off of un-hooking someone. You don't hold M1 you just tap it. The problem there is that they can bait you to do that, take the hit, and then sprint off to wherever.so just one press with M1 and not a lounge as i often do?
Yes. Same applies to grabbing them when they perform other actions (working gens, cleansing totems, or vaulting).
oh dear. ive been lounging at them because of the gap closing.
can you also grab with the Pig in stealth?

Also you should not be chasing in crouch as Pig. Crouch is to ambush them for the first hit. When you chase them you should be standing like a normal killer. Only time you crouch in a chase is if they try to loop you at a pallet you can sometimes mindgame them which way you will ambush around the loop. Look up Tru3Tal3nt he is probably the biggest DBD streamer that plays killer and he does that trick a lot with Pig. It's not very effective, though at ranks you might be at it probably is.i know. i dont chase with crouch i only initiate combat like that.

Don't worry Gideon is a nightmare for everyone hah. I would also recommend playing both sides as it will give you an idea of the survivors point of view for where to hide and the killers point of view for where to look.i am doing that actually, and i feel like im pretty good at hiding as a survivor. but depending on the killer, the game just seem really in favor of the survivors. although i have to admit running around as a survivor that havent memorized the maps yet, i struggle to find the generators lol since they are not highlighted.
when i play killer, i dont expect to kill everyone. i play with the idea in mind, that i ######### as many as i can. but yea.. i could use a minimap or something. but i guess its only untill i know the maps.
i also dont fully understand all the perks when i read them. like one of the Pigs perks which does the following:
A disturbing, yet brilliant, Trap design sketched in detail on a sheet of paper.
Increases available Jigsaw Boxes by 1.
Moderately increases the Reverse Bear Trap death timer.why is it good to have more jigsaw boxes? and why on earth would it be great for the reverse bear trap to have increased death timer? shouldnt it have a decreased timer so it goes off faster?
same with another of the Pigs perks:
Unlocks potential in one's Aura reading ability. The last 1 regressing Generator's/2 regressing Generators'/3 regressing Generators' Aura(s) are indicated in white to you for 16 seconds.
what the hell is a regressing generators aura?

You will eventually get the hang of it (with the exception of corn...you either have a good time or a bad time). My advice is to tilt your view slightly downward to see a bit more ground while chasing. This will always keep the scratch marks visible on your peripheral vision while always allowing you to look ahead to find the survivor. It will take time to get use to it if you are playing on console too as the fps isn't optimal.oh no im on a PC.
im guessing over all when i get to know the stages it becomes easier too. right now im running around like a headless chicken because i dont actually know the stages well and where people can hide. i tried that gideon meat plant thing, and everytime i was downstairs, it took me ages to find the stairs to get up.
