Thing I don't like is toxic is the most exhausting thing to ever spawn on the internet and shows that most people shouldn't be engaging with it as a whole… your playing a game vs other players they are going to do things you don't like or enjoy lower you sound volume if it bothers you. Don't try and bring people with disabilities into this argument as a weapon to prove a point that is a super low blow that unnecessary for any debate.
If you want them to stop hook them. They clearly are trying to get your attention and it is definitely working this one thread no doubt spawned at least 10 more people into doing this during there matches as you opened the door by letting them know this bothers you. Just like dancing at the gate or any other of the myriad things I see people have have issues with on these forums.
-
I mean the pulled it because of public Outcry. To say anything other then that is just cope.
If no outcry existed they would have kept tweaking numbers during the PTB they would have been talking with the community fixed issues as needed or encountered. It's highly possible deciding to send it back to cook longer would have been the end result regardless but none of the previous steps were taken because of the panic happening here and everywhere else.
In fact the ######### storm was so huge even community managers stopped posting on the forums all together until recently as we have seen the fire is mostly just smoldering now but mainly on the survivor side which behavior never have a problem with.
-
I mean it's a strategy if your to busy tunneling some one out the least you could deal with is some notification spam. It's hilarious that LITERALLY anything survivors do is problematic and it's gets nerfed into the ground. Then when all that is left is doing Gens it is now evil Gen rushing
-
*load up game 15 min ban. Guess I'll play something else*.
*Repeat*
-
Sadly just stop playing survivors. Ultimately you should just stop playing all together until they do something about it but I know some people can't just stop easily.

Your issue if you care only about your experience as survivor instead of team…
When all my teammates escape and I am only one to die, I think that's great outcome.
If you think every survivor game, where you die is loss, then that really has to be miserable experience.I mean this is a team game in a very loose sense especially for soloQ. Why would you 1. Stay to see if random people escaped if you got tunneled out. And 2. Care about them…
Yeah you need to unhook heal repair gens but all of that stuff rewards the survivor they are literally doing it to secure points especially in lower MMR. It's why people bum rush hooks as soon as people get on them it isn't to help the team it's to secure those points before others get it. It's why the second to the last person hides in a locker for hatch, why people work on generators together despite it being less efficient. It's all bad habits ingrained into them since starting the game as it rewards the most points the fastest.
-
Boogie man swf is always silly the numbers don't lie. And at absolute best you have a fair match of 50/50 vs a swf but really it's much lower.

Behavior kinda cooked their own game. Every second chance perks how fast gens can be repaired, how weaker killers are everything is because tunneling exists. No killer cen be powerful because the player can use a tactic that ruins the match for some one. Survivors have a bunch of second chance perks to help combat a tactic a killer might or might not use. You can't balance a game around two play styles that are so vastly different in effectiveness. They literally need to rework half the game to remove tunneling buff a bunch of killers and more.
-
Remove drones. And give her some other mechanic change her look substantially, and ideally her name as well. To something like M. Skull and you just might have a killer people are not still traumatized over.
-
Yeah I bought my very first rift pass and figured I could level the pass up just by playing..but apparently you get really garbage shards for leveling... And I'm not doing quests like I'm not a dog who is gonna jump through hoops I've never done a tome a I have never clicked the quest or tome section other then to see I clearly hate it.
I'm not here to play an MMORPG with nonsensical kill 7 rat quests I'm going to play dbd but it's very clear I won't be completing the rift by just playing even every day! Which I don't necessarily have a problem with but that will be my first and last rift purchase. Maybe I'm extreme in my views as I've never played a game with a "pass" before so don't really no the norms.

60% kill rate means the killer has a win rate under 50% still. The kill rate should be around 65% to aim for the 50% win rate. Also keep in mind that killer is supposed to be the power role because it's an asymmetrical game.
Also what the heck is a win rate in dbd? The game doesn't have a win state.. its killer or escape. And a 60% kill rate means your average 2 kills with some games being 3 kills and few were you have 0 and 4. Winning isn't a part of the equation. You kill. And in a certain number and that's the kill rate.
The game should be killer sided to an extent as it's featuring iconic death machines chasing after normal people. But obviously I don't think it should be more then 60-70% in there favor with 70 pushing it.
-
Annnnnd the point? And your post is very lacking in exact detail just generalization that could have been sumed up in a few lines.. like obviously a S tier killer will out preform trapper. But buffing trapper would require a rework similar to what we are seeing with myers Behavior realizes that a lot of these older killers are outclassed by newer Killers which is why their are quite a few of them on a rework list for road maps.
But the game is killer sided they are balancing it to be 60% kill rate on killer and 40% for survivors this is by definition an uneven playing field by design.
-
Remove slide, make his "free grab " a whip like Nemesis that doesn't stop survivors movement and needs to be aim with his tentacles. That simple he can still zoom zoom have a damaging ranged ability but require some brain power to hit.

By this logic, even Pyramid Head needs to be aura-nerfed, because at this point if you're not running I'm All Ears on Executioner, you're not playing Executioner right. "S" tier perk puts it mildly. I could argue that Pyramid Head benefits just as amazingly from aura reading as Nurse does, yet everyone likes to bandwagon on the Nurse-nerf train for some reason while ignoring parallels elsewhere.
We've gone a decade without needing to change things. Stop changing everything about the game for no substantial reason.
Bro PH needs more buffs because I love seeing him in games it's actually fun and interesting and while I've had a PH get the jump on me with aura reading and undectable he made his whole build around that and even then there is a in game noise that plays to que the player your never really helpless vs him not like nurse at all

I mean you need no mither + plot twist in order to do it. And it deactivates plot twist till exit gates + your broken the whole trial but it's still funny
-
I would totally be fine with slow down being basekit for some killers powers actually that would. Be preferable than saying blight or nurse get benefits that they don't totally need.
But I would hope it would be regression related instead of gen blocking. As a survivor having an entity block a gen for not enough time to go to a new gen but enough that standing there makes the already boring task of repairing that much less inspiring is horrible.

Hey, i agree that both blight and nurse are too strong. But that dosnt call for a nerf of every killer in the game.
I think the solution would be to bring all killers closer to each other in power, ultimately they would be even. It should be how fun they are that makes people play them and not how strong.
Now when all killers are close to same level, i think it would be much easier to balance the game.
I agree but really before you can buff killers you need to balance the play styles that people are using to win. For example some one who's goal is to 12 hook the team evenly will never compete with a master tunneller or slugger. Buffing and or nerfing killers around the play style of the individual is impossible they need to remove one of the styles of play or buff one way or nerf anoteerre. Adjusting a killer like blight to make him weaker would me that high level player who 12 hooks the team before a kill (no matter how hypothetical) can do it and consistently win. But that the one tunneling at 5 gens can't abuse how strong he is to create unwinnable scenarios for the other team.
And this is the crux of the problem no killer balance can be achieved with play styles that so drastically effect the out come of the match. Any buff while seeming like a good pick me up for your average killer is used like a sludge hammer to some one tunneling. I would love killer that felt unstoppable I recent got into a PTB match vs a blight that was clearly multiple tiers of skill level above me and my team and he 12 hooked us testing the new system and we only turned 2 gens on before we all died. The game was fun as hell because no one just didn't get to play. I knew as the player that we all lost together and if I was playing with a friend one of us wouldn't be spectating for 8 mins.
But tunnelling requires behavior to strictly keep killers very weak and manageable to stop people from quiting the game from not being able to play.

Ok ill bite anyway.
You didnt respond to the question i asked you, in our "little debate" but you are busy jumping in and replying the question i asked someone else??
What is that about ?
here is the question again :
I mean you can argue it is. If the max winstreak form one side is 1900 and the other side is 253 then you can extrapolate a few things from this. One something is very wrong with the killer in question in this case blight. And to a lesser extent a 1000 winstreak nurse and a 600 winstreak oni. Or the role has inherent advantages resulting in the peak level of play for both sides having horrible unbalanced highs which means most likely the lows for each sides are much lower and the median is lower. Which we can see even in high MMR I believe a swf averages 43% escape rate but it drops lower for each tier of play. Another conclusion would be that certain people exist that exhibit super human levels of play that can't be matched or seen in other competitive type of games as you won't find winstreaks like that anywhere on the planet not is fps strategy games like chess or RTS like SC or games with a sports theme like rocket League or fifa
so balance is definitely out of whack so who knows if it's balanced around top tier players but that would explain how some killers get the streaks they do since those SWFs are incredibly rare

Lets just agree to disagree on that, game mechanics have changed in the past 2 years. Lets take Pig as an example, do you really think she is stronger than she have ever been?
Also you seem to keep ignoring this question, let me ask a 3rd time.
What is the best winstreak you have seen with Trapper, Pig or Ghostface? recently, not 2 years ago. Is it close to 1000+ ?
If not, why should they be nerfed harder?
btw like a month ago a dude was on a 69 winstreak with trapper. Somthing almost impossible on survivor mind you even with a cracked swf team.
Ultimately with the right strategies (aka slug/tunneling) any killer is highly viable. And it's worth noting most of these streak videos consider only a win a 4k obviously you need to watch every ones to see if the person recording believes that's the case but I imagine most people feel a 3k is a definitive win so if added that clause to people's win streaks they might as well be infinite...

Now the highest survivor SWF streak was like 200

The strong killers, like nurse, blight, billy, dracula, wesker, ect. surely needs a nerf, but the weaker killers like myers, trapper, pig, ghostface, ect. they really dont need more of a nerf.
Now that being said, most players dont get that high win rates, so lets not balance the game around a few guys that does what is almost impossible for the common player.
This goes for both sides.
It's not really impossible it's just the tactics they use are really that fun, and your average person will feel a level of compassion when it comes to tunneling some one from the start and slugging 3rd kill for minutes as you hunt for person 4. They are VERY strong strategies that have been proven to have no counter truly as you can see knowledgeable people about the game getting 100s of win streaks. But a good portion of the player base hasn't played over 2000 matches let alone the fortitude to get a winstreak of that level using really repetitive and unfun strategies.
A lot of killers don't load in to a match with that mind set but that really only masks the problem with it's effectiveness because when they do it's very obvious you won't win.
-
I haven't booted the game up since they announced they were axing the changes in the PTB. But I'm not surprised it has gotten so much worse.
Also it's ironic that the more I think about it is that tunneling hurts the killer role far more then helping it. Think of all the nerfs and ideas they have come up with killers to make them truly fearsome just to toss the idea because it will be used to tunnel some one out to quickly so it needs to be balanced around that.

.. can quote myself again:
same with
Predator—40s cooldown for a short aura. don’t instantly feel safe the moment you think the killer lost you. keep spacing and assume you’restillin chase vs Nurse.and vs Floods, time the unhook smart—wait till Nurse burns her blinks (at least one) and is stuck in recharge,so she dont get this pressure-value.
- nurse is nurse. she still does nurse things. strongest in the game. once the nurse knows her stuff, you’re not playing the usual loop game anymore.
- vs nurse you need a whole different plan: try to get a top down view of the map in your head, turn the map into a chessboard and play pure macro, ’cause micro gets trimmed to nothing. if a good nurse has you in range, you’re just dead.
- aura or not barely matters—it just helps new nurses. a cracked nurse doesn’t need it: blink in los checkspots + range = gg.
- rn early to tighten your macro against her, regardless of aura read or nah
The guy who said this immediately got 4k'd vs a good nurse with a 96% kill rate.
-
And honestly your changes wouldn't even effect the game all that much aside from the joke one of sable ward. Nurse would just be stronger and windows weaker but pallets are stronger as they can't be broken.
And everyone would use hope so using a window only once seems fair to me. Lol we of course need to test it in the PTB to see if it all works
-
Should just make twins two players. And give the little dude the ability to drag survivors if he downs them. Seems really funny even if the killer would still suck to play
-
Is there a dude in here saying skill doesn't exist in video games? What about racecar drivers? Golfing? Bowling? None of these things take much athletics capabilities just time investments of doing them over and over. Until you get proficient oops I see what just happened it's like practicing a skill in time it gets better.
Btw I'm some one who has practiced tossing a partially empty water bottle on to tables from various distances to land right side up. Pointless but a skill nonetheless

Trapper is obviously better.

What is your definition of tunneling?
While significantly more angry then I would have posted it. Another person said it.
"Tunneling does not require intent" whether accidently or intentional being kicked out of a match at 3 mins feels terrible it's also one of the reasons I really didn't like 2v8 as it felt like I qued and waited in lobby/loading longer then I actually played. Tunneling or I should say the end result that behavior causes is this problem which has been afflicting the game since the very beginning.
I would argue that most people believe the game should be killer sided to an extent. And that most people on the survivor side are even fine dying most of their matches. But that changes on "when" they die. See the killer role is also negitvely affected by tunneling as it requires hard nerfs and balances that neuter the killer role in order to keep this play style in check.
Hypnotically if the killer required 12 hooks to win and 6-8 hooks before killing some one you could have absolutely terrifying killers on the board.. chases could be shorter because the killer needs to hook faster to keep up. So no 3 min loop session on weaker killers hiding might be more viable as killer would move faster and pressure gens better. Because these extra talents or buffs as you would say wouldn't be used to kick a player out faster except upon the final hooks for the team. Obviously my fan fiction has issues with some killers like hag and trapper as more unique buffs or reworks would be needed to fully embrace a non tunneling system.

Well that's good at least.
I do think that having a counter to killer aura reading perks like this is still not a good thing. We don't need indirect nerfs to Alert or Fogwise, and ESPECIALLY not Treacherous Crows.
Imagine having to not great skill check for the entire match because the killer brought a single perk :0
-
Because the ranked mode would need to be 50/50 survivor killer win and that balance is hard as hell to get . But also some killers just couldn't be in matches whether they are to strong or to weak. And it sounds like a nightmare for both sides with complaints
its like trying to make competitive Mario party it really starts to fall apart at comp levels
-
Hay No Mither player here. How do you get tunneled and then BM'd did you die the first 3 mins then stay for the whole match to then talk to people in end game chat ?

I don't think they inherently favour one side overall.
The cynic in me could buy that Ghoul was left as is for so long because of licensing but then why are they only just getting to reworking Myers? We also have Pig, Ghost Face and Onryo who aren't in a great spot either. The only line of thinking that makes sense and doesn't attribute malice to BHVR's intentions is that fixing the Ghoul is more complicated than we think it is.
I like the idea of the LoS change to camping and I can't see much wrong with it. There's no way you could *accidentally* trigger it long enough for it to hurt killers who aren't actively camping.
Or.. "fixing" ghoul makes his value proposition lower and him being new means more money. We see this with new killers all the time.
But the killer side is heavly favored but is it because of killers or people who play the role? Killers are over represented on the forms and as streamers And in groups of long term players that "prefer" the role.
So there is a lot of incentive for these big loud groups to "gate keep" or fight back against anything that takes a inch from them or a perk that is inconvenient. It really is a shame because issues on survivor sides are severely under reported which is why it takes literal ages for fixes or balance changes to come see camping tunneling slugging 3 gening and other issues.

This is always true, no matter what happens with anything in the game, including game balance.
The immediate and direct consequence of this thought process is that the devs should always unconditionally give killers whatever they want, since they will continue to be the 1 in the 1v4.
Except in reality the killer que is super unhealthy right now. You have close to a 50/50 split of killers to survivors playing when you need 25/75 half of you could quit and the game would literally be in a better spot... Why do you think they are rolling out play while you wait? I've never had to wait as a survivor games que basically instantly while it does seem bad waiting 3-5 mins for a killer game is really really bad and points to a dying game. But you can clearly see it's not the player base is still huge. But to many people are giving up on survivor game play especially when playing alone.
-
The survivor side of the game has been shrinking a lot but not necessary because people are quiting but they are switching to killer for a easier time especially in casual play and lower rank (added that so some killer sweat with 92% KR doesn't comment how Hard killer is). This is why you are seeing increase in que times despite having more players then ever
-
You know survivors don't really use the forums as much. So your list is great but your basically just telling a bunch of split play or killer mains that their tactics do have a counter. Except tunneling I hear so much claims how to stop it. Killers will say "it happens because you have bad team mates who are not intervening on your behalf." Or the opposite like your suggestion your dead but at least you helped your team do gens! If course if you were better you definitely wouldn't get tunneled is my fav. Or to clug your perks up with a bunch of anti tunnel. That only extends your torture.
Camping is low key not a problem just bring chalk pouch and struggle on hook some times you get off and can runnnnnn freeee!

People will optimize gameplay/features to their advantage, and they absolutely should.
Balancing these around these features/tactics is the hard part :P
Right now it's clear the current situation leaves killer with the advantage as tunneling and slugging is maximizing your advantages in game. I think adding protections survivors will use as leverage aggressively is always going to happen a survivor using it shouldn't be seen as abusing it or cause to destroy a system that can clearly work.
What you need to do after that is give the killer things he can maximize in other situations to balance it. I think the hook were the right direction just not enough for some killers.
What I think should happen is killers should get dynamic buffs depending on the killer for example the haste is kinda useless for some killers. But I think a fun albeit complicated one would be some killers get charged abilitie for hooking like trapper resets all his traps to plus gives him more. Nemesis getting permanent zombie speed increase with a cap being what the add on gives. Idk I'm no game designer with number tweaks and so many helpful buffs for killers to choose from there is definitely away to make it feel good and fun with our forcing some out of the game or to eat dirt all match.
-
Daleks would be awesome you control three of them in a group your ability allows you to send them out kinda like hound master. They can shoot to cause hinder but only the main body can do it. Also once a downed survivor is surrounded by the three deleks it teleportation power spawns them on the closest hook.
They move kinda slow but the hinder beam + divide and conquer tactics make up for it.

I just find it people care more about their fun than actual game health. You cannot sit here and tell me that if someone hovers for a pallet save on first down, so I'm forced to either waste time getting the injure or let the anti-slug build up while 2 other survivors are on gens. Because in this day if you lose your first down its most likely ggs as a lot of killers where there's nothing you can really do to come back other than capitalizing on survivor mistakes and not your own gameplay.
Hot take fun is the only thing that should matter.. know why dungeons and dragons still exists and is popular in the year of our Lord 2025? Because at any point rules and be back seated for fun. It's the only thing that matters for the health of the game.
Maybe the solution is just to start the game with 3 survivors at 3 gens so that killers don't lose there fun. It will still be a 4v1 game but the game starts with the killer sacrificing the 4th player (bot) making everyone happy.

No one's negating anything.
You're simply hand waving away a mountain of evidence by saying 'killer mains.'
It's not a good way to engage or argue a point.
Every single complaint people had with the system could have been fixed with number tweaks somthing we didn't get. Because...? The loudest people demanded it gone. They created head cannons of terrible scary situations that they assured would happen and ruin the game.
They claimed it would ruin all killers (it doesn't)
They claimed only blight and nurse would be viable after this change (not anymore then they currently are)
They claimed swfs would let people die on hooks to get bonuses (the system doesn't work like that)
They created situations where the evil survivor would FORCE them AGAINST their WILL to kill them off for penalties *sobs and cries from all the killers in the room.
They claimed the buffs would not be good enough (could be tweaked.. of course they never said what would be good enough because they didn't want this change)
The true result of this going live and getting tweaked would mean killers losing a few matches which will adjust their MMR because they have used tools such as slugging and tunneling as get out of jail free cards.
So many threads mention survivor hand holding and second chance perks when at any point a killer and "decide to play seriously" and turn a whole match around.

The entire patch was flawed, its not a matter of number tweaks theres so many interactions that were completely broken on both sides, stupidly designed restrictions on killers that fundamentally made some of them unplayable, anti-killer mechanics flawed on multiple levels and excessively punished alot of gameplay that wasnt excessive slugging and tunneling and actually promoting survivors to play in stupid ways because they can abuse it. Any killer that wasnt a S or high A tier essentially got gutted hard, when you nuked 90% of the roster its not a good change, period. Survivor defensive mechanics insanely overtuned and heavily abusable beyond belief, all things BHVR should have caught waaay before it went to a PTB.
This patch was just them throwing half-baked, poorly thought out combinations of ideas at a dart board to see what sticks.
It's basic I.T 101, you dont push through a broken and heavily criticised update when it requires revision. It takes more work to update it after the fact than taking the time to get it better from the start where it doesnt severely hamper the game in the meantime. And who knows what will break the game just because survivor want dumb changes forced out to their benefit. It would have been actually dumb beyond all measure to push any of these features right now.
Notice how there is basically zero substance to this whole post. I played the PTB and when I didn't get matched vs people clearly under or above my MMR (why testing the system in this environment was terrible) using the new system I did great the killer buffs felt good and I was using new Myers and the new killer to boot. No game ending situation happened to me by not tunneling... No killers became obsolete by it besides pig trap and condemn something that could easily be adjusted by "tweaking" I think the 6 hooks was a lot and would love to see if go down to 4-5. Anti slugging didn't negatively effect me during any of my play time either.
I think the issue is killers think they deserve a win every game eventually you will reach the limit of a certain killer and hover around that MMR and that's not a bug or oversight it's a Feature of the system by design

When they say "we'll do it later," that has always meant years, or never. The Skull Merchant fixes are "coming later". Twins fixes are "coming later". Bug fixes are "coming later." Getting rid of cheaters is "coming later." This is like the fourth time they've promised to crack down on parts of the game that make people miserable only to do nothing. All they've done so far is add a couple quit buttons for the most egregious situations, but I suspect that's actually only exacerbating problems, because it shuffles you back into the queue faster only to have it happen again. And it will happen more now because it's normalized as totally fine to do BECAUSE there's a way out. So solo survivors are being shuffled out of a miserable situation, only to expect more misery. It's getting survivors back into the queue sooner, but the survivor queues are getting worse. That is extremely bad.
If win rates on either side need to drop by 10-20% in order to hamstring all the ways that toxic ######### use to grief new or completely outmatched players (since the nonfunctional MMR throws everybody to the grist of jackasses's egos), I am completely on board with that. And I mean that for both sides. Killers hate the BMing at gates? Rework endgame so that only one survivor can escape per exit and bump the gate spawns up to 3. That would also help mitigate unwinnable gate situations for survivors and make endgame far more chaotic and interesting. M1 killers struggling? Then give some buff for M1ing a healthy survivor. Non-mobility killers? Open a portal next to a hook that teleports to 32m of a specified gen. Tack on a short power disabling to prevent Blight/Kaneki/Nurse/Spirit from running amok an you've also done a major blow to camping.
I have zero hope any more that the situation is going to improve. Why should I? They declared Operation Health, and it was such a fiasco that they had to declare a second one during the first, and then completely abandoned literally everything in it. And there's still been no bug fixes. No significant balance changes. The perk meta on both sides is pathetically untouched going back years, as are the top and bottom killers. Nothing changes. Ever.
Great post and really sums up a lot of the frustrations. Ironically Behavior are acting like cowards and have been frozen in fear for Literally years of inaction.
Afraid that their most over crowded side of players will quit if they make a few mistakes.

They completely lack practicality.
Ghost notes effect is… effective but it's supporting playstyles that aren't favoured.
The drum perk is good with autodidact but at this point, just run one healing perk instead of two.
Road life is totally useless. Very conditional for an effect that is readily available elsewhere.I created a whacky build with two people lol.
Drum perk + hyper focus dead line no mither
Second person same perks but bardic inspiration

The thing is I don't get why they delayed these new features when they only needed tweaks to the numbers in the PTB. At least they should've pushed out the new feature of the hidden hook states, which is the least controversial feature, while they tweak the rest of them. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
People don't want to tweak the numbers they don't want the system that will take anything away. Ironically I saw a few joke comments that this whole PTB would end with none of the changes going through except all the basekit killer buffs. And not even 24 hours after the announcement of it getting axed threads were up asking for the basekit buffs to stay to help killers.

You have the streamers to blame for this as for most situations in this game.
The require the game to be competitive when it's a party game by nature. Their viewers need it to be competitive to stay engaged. A new perk comes out that's whacky and fun? It gets scrutized to death 4 videos made about how some edge case "is problematic for the game" and poof.
Party games become inherently broken when people take them more seriously and if listened to it will be to the detriment of the game. You can clearly see behavior trying to balance the game around fun as mentioned the lasted ptb would have been a huge push in that direction. The recent survivor item "fog vile" is another example of adding fun to the game. But it's aggressively critiqued by the very top players of this community to the point of death.
