DS went from being an “anti-tunneling” perk to a “slug me” perk lol

They are good conceptually, but the actual details are bad.
Cruel Limit's range is too small to be useful, not to mention it only blocks windows and not pallets.
Surge has the same issue, range is too small. Also it only works with basic attacks, which is a big no-no.
Mindbreaker is a super cool concept, but its not very good in practice. Maybe if it worked at all times and not just when the gens below 50%. Inflicting 3 second exhaust can also work against the Killer in the case of Sprint Burst, so that part should either inflict more exhaust or inflict no exhaust whatsoever.
A good survivor doesn't waste pallets anyway, so windows are actually a good thing. It forces good survivors to have to loop pallets instead.
90 percent of the killers use basic attacks, so those killers can equip them. Talking to you, Legion mains
Mindbreaker would work well with Corrupt Intervention. Can’t tell you how many times killers find me before I get to 50 percent on a gen. Would help significantly against Balanced Landing and Dead Hard players

Why would they nerf Demo?
He's not that good, if anything he needs some buffing, specifically for the portal destruction time and for his addons.
His perks arent great either to be honest, though they have some cool ideas.
His perks are really good. Blocking windows after gen completion? Causing exhaustion when a gen is less than 50 percent? Regressing a gen when someone goes down near him? That’s pretty powerful

Right?!

If we ever get a left handed killer they had better stand on the right side of the main menu, holding their weapon in their right hand for consistency.
*still mad they don't just mirror the damn menu screen so that killers are actually holding their weapon in the correct hand*
Never noticed that!
-
@Mister_xD said:
back in the day Trapper used to be left handed, but that got changed since they used the usual formular ingame and he then held his weapon on the right.
huntress is actually lefthanded, its not that obvious since she holds the weapon with both hands, but since its an axe, you hold it with your strong hand further down the shaft, which would be her left. she also throws the hatchets with her left hand, so...
Wow I never knew that! I also always thought Huntress held her main weapon in her right hand lmao

I wanna say that simply mirroring the animation can't be that hard... but I don't actually know if it is or not.
But...does anyone know any movie killer thats left handed?
Idk about movie killers, but I heard Jack the Ripper was left-handed, in case the devs need an idea for Chapter 14 😂

Not to mention it'll just feel real weird and awkward to play as. Also it'll be awkward inn console due to the default attack being tied to the RIGHT R2
So true 😂 they would have to make it the L2 button instead lolol

@Fibijean said:
If you mean lore-wise, I would guess it's just a coincidence. As CthuluSE hinted above, arguably Huntress is ambidextrous.
If you mean in terms of the game itself, I'm guessing it's because it saves the devs a lot of work without affecting the quality of the game in any way. A left-handed killer would mean they couldn't reuse any of the animations currently in the game which depend on the killer's M1 using their right hand (which is more than you think, probably) and would have to create new ones. This would mean less time spent on other things that might improve the chapter like the quality of the new animations.
Very good point. Didn’t think of it like that

I’ve seen some pretty good huntress players, she is much better than Freddy imo.
I guess I haven’t seen or played against the stronger ones then, cause Freddy is pretty powerful now haha

It depends on the map, a lot of them are pretty bad for her.
Also: Don't forget that players here put her on rank 5. That doesn't mean that she's that strong, that only means that she is not as weak as others. Nowadays, Huntress is only good average. If you and your teammates are good survivors, you should win against her.
But to have her better than Freddy, Myers, or Ghostface?
-
huntress really top 5 for you guys? Anytime I go against her at rank 1, I escape lol. I would replace Huntress with Freddy since he’s really good at gen protection
-

Here’s a list of some common things randoms do:
- self care in the far corner of the map
- use every pallet on the map within the first 2 minutes of the game
- spend the whole game looking for the ruin totem
- Being overly altruistic and never touching gens
- spend the whole game hiding from the killer
Don’t forget:
crouched in one spot behind a rock while you’re struggling, even though the killer is chasing someone else

"One every thousand games" Yea, cuz many killers don't experience the gen rush on a regular especially with SWF. Tru3 has many videos showing the insane gen rushes. It's not one of those "One in a thousand" chances. It's truth, don't have to like it. Just a look of how the power role of DBD truly is.
-
If y’all want second objectives, they’ll have to nerf all killers dramatically. It would be a 4K every single game if survivors had to do gens along with something else, while worrying about a killer. Gen times would have to be significantly decreased too

Seeing the red stain through any blocker (i.e. walls) is a bug (verified by BHVR) that was introduced with the engine update 10 months ago. This is only 1 of several bugs created by the update, that remains unfixed. Based on BHVRs track record, it MIGHT be fixed in about a year or so.
Oh....no way? I thought that was just a PC thing lmao. Had no idea it was a bug!

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/83821/why-is-pc-dbd-better-than-console
As far as I know, you can see the red stain through walls on the "LOW" graphic setting on PC. I thought that this is the setting that is chosen for Console, as they seem to struggle with frames...
Also there are not so many lag spikes, except when the killer plays the game on a potatoe
Frames are pretty bad on console but I don’t believe I can see the red stain on the lowest quality
-
@oxygen said:
Pretty sure the red stain thing is something that happens when you select a certain graphics quality setting, which obviously isn't available on consoles.
Other than that I'd say it's mostly performance differences, as well as the different input method (controllers) and the more restrictive nature of the way you look around with a controller, especially with the range of sensitivity options. I see a LOT of people wanting the ability to get their sensitivity higher on console.
Ahhh ok! Yes this very true. Definitely don’t feel as fluent on console like I see PC players lol
-
Only reason I do this is because I’ve been found first in literally every game prior, so when I go down again and DC, it’s because I’ve reached my breaking point 😂😂
-
Inner Strength only works one time, if I’m not mistaken. So if you cleans 3 totems, it won’t stack.
-
I wish it was like this on PS4. Games last 45 minutes cause I’m the only one doing a gen while everyone is running around looking for the totem
-
Inner Strength is coming, and soon you won’t have to worry about being gen-rushed cause everyone will be looking for totems at the start of the game

Why would you use an instaheal on a purple medkit?
It was an example. Plus, I mentioned not everyone has purple medkits and instaheals. I mis-wrote

I can’t understand. They give Us perks that makes survs not to do their objective and some of them are happy and excited. I think they should be killers mains and say these things only for devs to read them and think we are happy
Survivor main, actually. Totems are an objective because there are Hex’s such as Ruin and Noed that can turn the whole game around in a heartbeat. This will give people satisfaction to no Noed AND it makes killers stop complaining about being gen-rushed since we're doing totems to start the match
-
@NuclearBurrito said:

It does. I like the perk a lot and think it's a meta candidate.
What I am saying says more about how amazing Medkits are than anything about these perks.
True, but not everyone wants to run a med-lit, so this will definitely benefit. Especially when you don’t have to rely on random teammates to heal you lol
-
@NuclearBurrito said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/647095#Comment_647095
It is. I'm just saying a medkit isn't a fair comparison because a medkit is better than everything. So pointing out that it's better than this perk too (8+14 from cleansing a totem is slower than a medkit) doesn't mean much.
but it adds doing totems to the objective. Everyone who complains about Noed will now have an objective to do and can benefit from it later down the road
-
@NuclearBurrito said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/646637#Comment_646637
I'm not talking about instant heals.
Simply having a 16 seconds self heal is already 200% efficiency. That's the same as Well make it except it's always and it doesn't take a perk slot.
But a med-kit only works once or twice depending on the add-ons. Inner Strength is a one-time use but 8 seconds to be fully healed is pretty clutch
-
@NuclearBurrito said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/645801#Comment_645801
Nothing beats a medkit.
Medkits are always by far the best healing method in the game besides sometimes Adrenaline.
Not everyone has 32 Ranger Med-kits with instaheals lol
-
@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
Honestly, this perks seems busted.
I thought that you need to destroy totem when you are injured but if you can do that anytime for just 8 seconds seems like self-care just got nuked and deleted from the game lol.
Self-care is useless anyway. Why spend 30+ seconds healing when it’ll take me 16 with a med-kit, or 8 with this new perk?
-
@Ghoste said:
I really like the idea of Inner Strength, but consider this:
- Only 5 totems spawn. Your teammates will probably want to cleanse them too, so you get maybe 2 charges per game, if you can find one when you need one.
- Cleansing a totem takes 12 seconds. Inner Strength takes 8 seconds in a locker to heal. Add in the time to run to a locker after you get the totem, and you probably could've Self-Cared in that time (32 seconds). Also, Self-Care is unlimited use and doesn't require cleansing a totem to use.
- If you're in SWF, you can ask a teammate to heal you, or use Bond if you're Solo.
I thought it seemed good at first, but I think it's better on paper than in practice. I'm not saying it's bad, but the condition of cleansing a totem is too unreliable, and there are better perks for getting healed.
Right, same thing the other commenter said: if you cleanse a totem at the start of the game, your perk will activate and you can use it once at any time throughout the game
-
You guys are sleeping on Inner Strength. You do a totem at the start of the game, then get healed instantly after spending 8 seconds in a locker any time after that. Combine that will Q&Q and Iron Will and that’s a really good build
-
@Shaped said:

I am using similar build. The only difference is I am using woo instead of adrenaline and decisive instead of dead hard. I don't find woo that good for everyone but it helps me individually. A lot.
WoO is good for newer players, but I would ditch it if you have experience and know the map layout. DS is meh and doesn’t work as often as it used to, which I’m sure killer mains are ecstatic about lol
-
it depends on what you’re good at. Are you good at looping, altruism or gen rushing? I have different builds for different characters, but my Meg build would be my tryhard:
dead hard
adrenaline
iron will
spine chill
-
@My_Farewell said:
Hide survivors' names, appearance and items.
I like this! If we can’t see the killer, they shouldn’t see the survivor
-
Depends on the killer and the perks. Freddy and Spirit are good for map pressure. Nurse is good to prevent looping so you can hook people faster. Bring Ruin, Corrupt Intervention, Discordance/Surveillance, and Pop Goes the Weasel if you don’t want to be gen rushed. Corrupt will be really good cause it’ll bring the survivors closer to you and you can chase early
-
@NoShinyPony said:
@066 I wonder why 2-3 survivors per match run a perk that is "nerfed to the ground"...
You’re lucky it’s 2 cause it used to be all 4 😂
-
Legion needed to be nerfed and he’s still the least liked character to go up against. Dude is more annoying than pre-reworked Freddy. I’ve never seen so many people DC just because it was a Legion. He should just go away and never come back

Getting DS'd 4 times is the equivalent to having to complete 3 more gens in terms of chasetime even if all 4 survivors are complete potatoes and go down immediately after the DS by running straight in a line.
The only equivalent in terms of power to this perk would be an unfound RUIN.
I guarantee you no more than 2 people run DS now because of how bad of a perk it is, considering how killers love to run out the timer

Camping is the best strategy if the team comes rescue that hooked survivor:
If one stayed reparing and the other 2 comes to the rescue, you basically already won that match.
If 3 survivors comes to the rescue, you are F. (considering they know what they are doing)
If none survivor comes to the rescue you are F.
have you ever heard of the "BASEMENT" place, top place to sleep over.
with an SWF team no one will go for the camper lol
-
Lol no one will want to play survivor if the average is 4K. What would be the point if you’re not guaranteed to escape?
-
@AzdrubaelVect said:

And you make it sound like 5 gens get popped after getting DS’d LOL
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/630865#Comment_630865
If the killer hasn't hooked anyone, survivors should be punished for repairing generators.
Does that sound fair to you in any way? That's because it isn't. Neither side should be punished for playing efficiently.
Camping isn’t efficient though. All you did was secure ONE kill while everyone else did the objective and escaped. Camping does nothing for either side
-
@AzdrubaelVect said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/630479#Comment_630479
You know why? Because DS exists, it's a completely BS perk because it's powerful even if you don't use it, the fear alone of being DSed is enough for a killer to leave you after a hook.
You get stunned for 5 seconds. There’s no reason to be so afraid of being stunned for 5 seconds
-
@AzdrubaelVect said:
You're trying way to hard with coming up counters, one of your "counters" is literally "just eat the DS" or "wait out 60 seconds instead of getting a hook, oh also let's not forget that you have no knowledge if there's even a DS in the first place so this perk buys the entire team tons of time.
That’s not an excuse. Literally every killer I’ve gone up against where I’ve run DS and wasn’t the obsession, I’ve been slugged after hook
-
Decisive, Head On, Quick and Quiet, Adrenaline
-
@HatCreature said:
@ArrowTheGreat11 I've had that too, that happens more often than not, I would be ok with a timer when not getting chased but it would have be shorter than 60 seconds, that's way too long for this type of change. I still feel that slugging should be a valid counter though, there are many situations in the end game where slugging to prevent DS is the only option to win the match and right now D-Strike is most powerful in the end game.
I can agree to that. I like to run Unbreakable for that reason alone, but letting the timer run during a chase defeats its purpose of it being an “anti-tunneling” perk unless there’s a survivor that’s bad at extending chases
