  • The new Into the Pit Bonnie would make a pretty solid skin for Springtrap, since a classic Spring Bonnie skin might not work with his power (depending on how robot he is).

If we do end up with a survivor, I can't imagine it'll be anyone but Mike (with or without Josh Hutcherson's likeness), as he's by far the oldest and most long lasting protagonist the series has. I hear Vanessa thrown around a lot, but it's pretty telling that her entire role in the movie was basically giving her half of Mike's game arc. Give him a goofy night guard outfit and his game or movie voice, I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

As for a map, this is a weird idea, but I always thought it'd be cool if it was based off of the original Freddy's location opened in 1983, where the unwithered animatronics and the puppet coexisted, and most critically, where the kids originally got stuffed and where Charlie was murdered. Functionally speaking, it's the FNAF 1 pizzeria with more areas and lore.

Regardless, even if this ends up just being Springtrap on his own, I'll probably be satisfied just seeing Afton in the DBD art.

  • I tend to kill survivors who try that unless their teammate is intentionally dragging the team down. It just isn't in the spirit of the game for survs to betray each other imo, even if it sometimes happens in lore.

  • With the current BHVR release cycle, it appears there are always at least six separate active DLC projects in development at a time, with most of these projects having strict 'do it in a year' deadlines, and that's without considering all the new modes and skins and whatnot being made and released alongside them.

No, I'm not happy with how DBD's release cycle often ends up harming the game or leaving great concepts out to dry, but telling the devs to simply find some courage when BHVR offices probably function like SpongeBob on fire inside his own head won't do any good in my opinion.

  • I'm thinking they'll round out the classic cast with Doctor and Hag then maybe dip their toes into licensed killers like Michael, Leatherface, and either Freddy or Pig. I think 5 per iteration is a good way to go, as it's a lot added at once without being more than the devs can take. Now that the framework is there, I'm definitely hoping we hear more details about how they'll introduce new killers into the fold.

  • I think this might create a repetition issue where everyone bans the same maps and then it becomes a common complaint that certain maps are hard or impossible to get in on, although one could argue some of these maps deserve it (especially if some won't get killswitched despite being bugged).

It might also result in people who might not like a certain character or license banning their map on release to ensure others can't play on it, but now that I type that out it sounds kinda like doomposting.

This could certainly be an idea worth testing, though I'm not necessarily confident it'll be healthy for the game. Stuff like map bans frames the trials in a much more competitive perspective, whereas the game tends to aim more for Casual Coop Horror game vibes. I've seen it said that style of developing is part of what's harming DBD, but the grass is always greener and all that. Ultimately, I'm on the fence, if that wasn't clear from all the indecisive yapping in this comment.

  • Demo's shred is one of the powers I've had a harder time understanding the hitbox of, this guide makes it much clearer to visualize, thanks for taking the time!

  • I find it unreasonably funny watching a Dwight or some other average joe survivor mess up a simple action like throwing a pallet on the wrong side in chase and then disappearing in an 8 foot tall pillar of hellfire. I keep imagining a Tom and Jerry scream and then the survivor being coated in soot afterwards.

I'm glad we finally have some flames on the killer side after so long, Drac is a lot of fun :3

  • Maybe it's just my own personal experience clouding my judgement, but ever since I started playing this game when I was 10, I have never had an issue finding fans of DBD throughout my late Elementary, Middle and Highschool. I've said it on other posts, but I've also seen at least three separate groups of literal toddlers playing 'Dead By Daylight' on the playground (I think it's just hide and seek).

To a certain extent, yes, I do think there'll be a fair amount of kids trying out the game when FNAF launches. I think however, that these kids will either only want to play Springtrap or Mike and completely bottleneck themselves out of most perks, or they'll simply get bored of a game with this level of grind and amount of knowledge to learn. I know MMR is a joke, but I also can't imagine I'll be matched up with these players very often, y'know?

As for the target audience of FNAF, I can't really deny that there are a lot of children in the fan base, I myself joined when I was 8, but there have been requests and attempts for years for a more dark and gritty take on FNAF content. FNAF+ was a cancelled official remake of the first game intended for mature audiences. The Joy of Creation is an officially funded fan game with a demo out and Animatronics that couldn't care less about looking T for Teen. Look at Analogue Horror for instance. FNAF, though not having an official analogue horror series, is probably one of the most popular examples of the genre and most of the content in those series are solidly mature. Yes, a lot of these are fan examples, but in a series where Fan games and Fan names can become official media after awhile, I feel like it'd be wrong not to mention, especially considering how many people I see interact with those types of content.

There are at this point a lot of Ips that juggle targeting releases for younger and mature audience, and a fair few of them are in DBD. I see a lot of people asking for Scooby Doo, but not a lot of people worried a bunch of kids will then storm the game if that makes sense.

If FNAF was solely a kid series with only that target audience in mind, then I would fully agree that this collab is out of place, but we probably wouldn't be having this collab at all and Fortnite would have a few more robots in it if that was the case, so I'm excited. We'll see what happens in a year or so ig, but I'm not expecting this release to be such a big deal gamewise.

Supporting and funding Scott Cawthon is not the behaviour of someone who "love[s] the LGBT community".
    It's really that simple.

Alright it's this kinda convo. Look, there's literally nothing I can say to you to change your mind. If you're so convinced anything to do with FNAF makes all the people associated with it awful, I can't help you. All I can say is I don't see the situation as nearly as black and white as you paint it out to be, and there are far better people who are more capable (and more willing) to go in depth with this with you than I am.

The phrase "community stigma" sure is an interesting way to frame funding hateful anti-LGBTQ bigotry.

Man look, if you want my thoughts I have other posts that address the main controversy up front with words you'll like more. If this interaction is gonna turn nasty before I even get to say anything to you, I'm out.

When I say community stigma, I'm not just referring to this controversy. FNAF and DBD have been discussed in numerous ways over the years and many of these discussions involve the games content, tone, target audience, etc. and now of course the controversy. I didn't come to this site to talk politics, I came to talk games, sorry if my vocabulary reflects that, but don't make me out to be something I'm not just because you took my post somewhere it doesn't really delve into.

I love FNAF, I love DBD, I love the LGBT Community. That's that.

  • I think Doctor with both Iri Queen and King would be hype. Imagine a shock traveling across all 8 players. He'd make an incredibly solid support class imo!

  • I might be crazy but I feel like they've been doing that for a while. I've had a few matches where I could account for all survivors positions and zombies are out there chasing their dreams. It's weird, but definitely a DBD moment.

  • Part of it was definitely that the 10 year anniversary was now, but I also think BHVR wanted to announce it in advance so the community stigma around FNAF some people have gets worked out before release. Given what's currently happening, that appears to have been the right idea.

  • Like everyone else already said, cheaters are unfortunately the reason this will never happen, but I do think this issue could be alleviated if some of the earlier DLC's were added to the base game. Especially characters like Doctor and Hag, since I believe they're part of the Switch Edition.

The Gold version of the game is impractical since asking for 40$ upfront before knowing if DBD is for you is a bit much.

  • It's a neat idea but I really hope not. BHVR struggles at balancing one new killer per chapter, I wouldn't want to play the odds with FNAF, although I agree it's probably the most fitting licence for that kind of chapter if it did happen.

  • The change feels so unnecessary to me. Even if it's for marketing, I already knew the content I didn't have was there, now it just annoys me to see it.

Scott is rather picky when it comes to collaboration with his priorities is keeping the integrity of the characters and story of FNAF faithful to its origin. DBD and SpringTrap are fitting since he is the killer of the series and all the others are victims of SpringTrap.

Think the real debate is what the heck his power going to be and ifwho the survivor will be? Phantom animatronics and maybe an adult version of one of the 2 kids from security breach?

Fortnight I don't ever see happening.

Depends, DBD has a lot of sympathetic killers on the roster and the MCI kids are pretty often depicted as scared animals who kill for often flimsy reasons. One could argue that the movie iteration of the characters being manipulated by Afton would slot in well for the Entity to take over post Springlock.

We're almost certain (and I really hope) to get the game characters, but a similar line of logic could land us with the classic four since they're the most recurring characters in the series. That said, you are right that Springtrap has much less standing in the way for his inclusion, but the devs are known to zig when most people expect them to zag so we'll see.

  • I'm praying the Tr Theme contains elements of Vanta Black from Sister Location. It'd work perfectly as the ambience for some of the earlier levels.

    https://youtu.be/6Hpg7lOKFXo?si=oVc0coghJhvGN5E8
  • And now the debate begins between whether we'll be seeing Freddy and Co as killers or if Springtrap is going to get the slot cause he's the main villain.

  • This is gonna be a big one. Get ready for Freddy!!!

  • It's happening!!!!! I know this will be controversial but I'm actually so happy right now! This is maybe the most excited I've been for a license since LAUNCH! W

  • I'm fine with some killers being easier to play than others, and now that the classic 'drop a guard and leave loop' was changed, he does actually take a fair amount of planning ahead and a guard where you don't expect it has changed the outcome of a lot of matches. I definitely wouldn't say he's as easy to play as Legion, and I think they're the number one easy character on the roster. Knight definitely still needs some changes though imo, as he's nowhere near the best designed power in the game.

Also, this thread is getting more than a little derailed by the classic invisible MMR discussion. Part of me does wish there was something akin to a tier system so people could track their bragging rights and these disputes simply wouldn't happen, but I have a distinct feeling people around here and on Twitter would eat each other if those results ever became public. At the end of the day, it's just a game y'all, chill.

  • Somewhere out there right now, Goldilocks is hearing the perfect Were-Elk lullaby.

  • I agree, a lot of the new maps and redesigns simply don't compliment his power very well. Tbh, I still think it would be a good idea to tie map clutter generation to the killer in the match. Cluttered, cramped spaces with LoS blockers works very well for stealth killers, but ranged and dash based killers feel supremely inconsistent when comparing Azarov's to Gideon's, for example.

How feasible tweaking the map generation is to a specific character, I'm not sure, but this issue should be tackled one way or another.

  • Schrodinger's Roadmap. Until we see the patch notes the forums will treat this as both meaningless QoL that will amount to nothing and an earthshattering nerf specifically aimed to ruin your Sunday.

  • This revamp better be well designed, as the community won't respond well to maybe the fourth awful version of Freddy if he's been delayed this long. If Devs are going to make statements on these projects, they should actually follow up on them in a timely manner.

I hope we hear more on this soon. Mandy did mention on another post certain things were kept off the roadmap.

  • The game will sometimes also add entirely new content to a specific side without giving the other anything. Bill, Bubba, Ash, Gf, Pinhead, Mikaela, Chucky, Alan, and Lara were all added without much or any compensation for the other side, and that's okay.

The changes BHVR make to each side are hardly equal in how much they affect balance anyway, and it's not like the buffs are going to break the survivor meta in a major way. These changes to me all seem well thought out and make the game more fun without breaking balance. We'll see what happens on live of course, but I think complaining just because one side was changed more than the other is simply a bad way of looking at things. Sometimes killers get a new toy, sometimes survivors do. So long as those toys are at the level of the ones everyone already has, it's fine that way imo.

It is nice but that's absolutely not something he needed.

What a killer needs and what they get are hardly ever the same thing. After all that Chucky lost with his recent changes, this is nice. Not needed no, and not the changes I would have wanted for him at all, but this is nice.

  • I like some of the improvements but it feels like I'm controlling a mobile game with a stick. Since it was confirmed checks notes six minutes ago that there'll be more updates in upcoming patches, I hope that they improve the looks department and remove some of the more cluttered aspects of the UI.

Killers get a heavily killer sided anniversary event, a heavily sided mid chapter update, and now a second killer in a separate game mode - and they still complain. Are we still wondering why gamers all across the board refer to dbd killer mains as babies?

    DBD killers specifically?

    https://youtu.be/p1lDat_tZeA?si=YNwGOP9YXvqKonM9

I'm sorry, but survivor and killer mains are and always have been two peas in a pot. If one is a baby, the other is crying right alongside them. The sooner we stop associating each other with meaningless stereotypes and start understanding we're horror fans with invested interest in the same thing, the less salt there'll be all around.

Then again, it is Year 9 and half of the complaints I hear regularly around here could've been applied to Year 1 in some way, so who knows, maybe we're doomed to eternal childhood.

  • Well, yeah. The Entity is a cosmic horror in the most pure sense imaginable, its scope of power is beyond the grasp of the mortal mind and all that.

Generally speaking, whatever she wants, she gets.

  • Yeah, it's also just really unfun if the Singularity decides to deep wound survivors as often as possible to turn the game into bar filling simulator. The hindered is fine imo, but the Deep Wound can go.

Its been on borrowed time for awhile now. That was just a dev acknowledging it (no offense).

None taken, I've heard people say it was on borrowed time since its release lmao

Hopefully the release on the successor Switch fairs better, if it really is on the level of the Xbox One/PS4 like sources indicate, it might get to stick around much longer.

  • I'm not going to pretend I have nearly as big a stake in this matters as others, since realistically speaking the only thing I'd like to transfer from my Switch account are Stranger Things skins I bought before it left the stores a few years ago, but I agree that a show of goodwill from BHVR would go a long way here.

These are digital assets that have for the most part already made their money and earned their value in terms of cost, I think that despite BHVR's smaller status as a company, they could bite the bullet instead of punishing those who have invested so much money into the Switch port.

At the very least, Nintendo will probably allow Cross Progression between Switch 1 and whatever the successor is called. I wonder how long the Switch Port will last tbh, it's never been the best running or prettiest game, but 2v8 getting an active warning about its playability is a pretty big sign that it's on borrowed time.

  • Shame that they weren't able to get Shared DLC and currency on Switch, I was planning to transfer Demo over, but still it is so great that this is finally happening!

"It'll pair nice with Lara's new vault perk when that comes, so I'm looking forward to trying that out!"

How? One of them only works when healthy, the other one only works when injured.

Exactly, it's a nice way to guarantee consistently faster vaults regardless of health states.

  • I think it's fine as is, since the 9% buff isn't that big a deal for most of the categories it affects. The gen speed buff can be a little nutty with a toolbox and other perks like Deja Vu, but it isn't anything near the plagues of the past, so I'm fine with it tbh.

It'll pair nice with Lara's new vault perk when that comes, so I'm looking forward to trying that out!

  • Usually I just consider 2k a tie, 1k or 0k a loss, 3k and 4k a win. That said, depending on the match, these rules are obviously flexible.

I'll only ever consider a 3k a loss if a survivor screwed over their teammates and I let them make it out, cause then I feel bad for the ones who got done dirty. On the opposite side of the coin, I only tend to consider 1ks a win if I was memeing or got someone I consider toxic.

Winning is overrated though, it's not like anyone is keeping score

  • If they ever get the rights to Army of Darkness or any of the older films a classic Ash skin would be fire.

BHVR loves to mess with scratch marks and it's strange, this is a core game mechanics that must be consistent and messing with it doesn't makes sense at all

The good ole BHVR motto, if it ain't broke, tweak it.

  • It seems like everyone wins with the optional toggle, W decision!

maybe the killer just isn't for you.

auto aiming in cameras felt nice, but it def made him way easier than he should've been for what he's capable of, especially in comparison to the effort it would take to start dealing with singularity that can actually infect people.

Singularity with Autoaim was already considered to have a skill floor higher than other characters skill ceilings. To be frank, saying players on other consoles should have to make basically impossible shots on controller because you don't like the way autoaim feels on mouse and keyboard comes across as gatekeepy.

  • A fair amount of what's on the roadmap will have been revealed in the ama, so I'm mostly interested on getting dates regarding stuff revealed there. The Freddy Rework, Michael changes, Pyramid Head addon pass, Swamp rework, etc.

In terms of new stuff, a Nemesis Rework or Xeno changes would be a dream.

  • @Laluzi said:

Your reasoning? I run Corrupt on certain killers (Trapper, Hag, Plague), but for the most part I don't feel it's necessary to win games or have strong starts. If gen speeds are a problem, nerf toolboxes - that's something that won't hurt lower level survivors disproportionately, which basekit Corrupt would.

    ^^^This

Just saying "killers need it" isn't valid reasoning to make such a drastic change to the game. Yes, it can be hard to keep gens in check early game, that doesn't mean survivors should have such a massive limit put on the ability to do their objective. There are numerous other fixes to any potential gen issues that don't involve this perk being made Basekit, as while that might sound fine on Trapper, it sounds asinine on Nurse, Billy, Blight, etc.

  • I think there's a lot of doomposting here for a mode we haven't gotten to try yet. The hook system working more like cages of atonement and the addition of survivor classes means that there's likely going to be more downtime for a survivor player and more room to fulfill a certain niche within the match, which could lead to different gameplay strategies they might prefer after however many years spent on the same mode of play.

On the killer end, the idea that this will turn out like Light's Out seems a little reductive to me, as that mode was pumped out just so it could theme well with Alan Wake and so people could ogle at the fact modifiers were now possible. Freddy wasn't even available in the modifier because his filter couldn't be applied with the darkness and the devs couldn't be bothered to make a new one for him. Lights Out was meant to value atmosphere over gameplay and to its credit, it did just that.

I don't think the devs would've limited the available killers in 2v8 to five unless they were trying to keep the mode in a state of balance they could control. It's possible the mode will be a permanent release they eventually add more and more killers to as they tinker with stats and numbers. It's also possible it comes out as a limited time event we get to see go through multiple iterations until the devs are confident it can stand beside the base gameplay.

Either way, it's not all doom and gloom in my opinion, hopefully this'll be another W to mark off the year!

  • @VantablackPharaoh91 said:

This is what happens when people optimize a game and the Devs don't give any sort of compensation or changes to older map design, unfortunately. Twenty billion filler pallets and Killers with high mobility.

True, a lot of the earlier cast who mainly play as M1 killers tend to feel pretty badly power creeped depending on the map you get.

  • Freddy has always been a master of deception, I hope they give him some out of the box ways to control the environment and situations survivors get put in, however that ends up looking.

  • Mikey and Freddy changes and now this? Starting to think I might be dreaming...

  • Big W lads, viva la Freddy rework!

  • Wait, Toba and Nostromo are listed as the same realm in game, so there might only be a toolbox in Toba, but it is also worth keeping in mind Nostromo has its own offering, so it is still treating mostly as its own place by the game, so a G. Toolbox could still be there.
