Why does it feel like I'm playing on haddonfield 6/10 of my rounds as killer? I'm growing old and tired of it super quick. Nobody brings an offering for it either.

I haven't gotten Haddonfield in probably a week, but I swear, last night I may have had 3 Coldwind Farms in a row, 1 preschool, and then 3 more in a row. I recorded all my matches today and just went back and counted. I had 9 Coldwind Farms, 4 Badhams, and 6 other matches on mostly survivor-sided maps. Almost 50% on Coldwind farms and over 20% on Badham. Seems very strange.

  • The correct tier list

  • Really bad experience so far.

  • After getting pair with multiple rank 17-20 killers now as a rank 1, I have a hunch none of these people are new players. I believe all the low rank killers I've played against so far have been smurf accounts. I bet they are mid-tier killers who can't cut it at higher ranks so made smurf accounts to own noobs. Their domination of rank 20s has fooled the algorithm into thinking they are pro, and that's why they are getting matched with rank 1s now.

The amount of rank 17-20 players I’ve come across tonight has been painful.

The number of games done in minutes due to just low levelled team mates, camping low rank killers or full red tanks bullying a 20.

Do not put this system into the game or else it’ll ruin it for new players for quiet a while

Ive played 2 games so far. First was red squad vs rank 17 killer who quit 30 seconds into match. Second was another red team rank 1s and 2s vs rank 20 with 2 hours into the game who was clearly not a rank 20. He sucked but got 1 down and face camped a rank 1 until he died. Seems like I will be losing pips in every game if I keep playing tonight. Great experience so far.

OP, I've been struggling with this issue for the past few weeks. I play on Xbox One, and recently the game has been disconnecting on me either before the match or during game play. It's gotten so bad and has happened so repeatedly that I got a 72-hour ban. I've submitted multiple bug reports but to no avail. I understand your frustration.

I submitted a lost progress ticket with video of losing pips for canceled matches. I've lost at least 7 in the last couple days. I only got a generic email saying it's a known bug they are working on. :/ Would be nice to replace the pips we've lost due to this bug.

  • It's hard enough getting to rank 1 after the rank reset. Now I'm down to almost rank 3 after losing several pips from getting disconnected. Very annoying.

    its tuesday.

every tuesday the Steam servers go down for a few minutes due to maintenance.

BHVR has nothing to do with it.

We are still being punished for it.

  • Happened to me today three times in a row.

Killers can do this to punish survivor groups they can't beat and cheat them out of pips. Would be nice if they just gave survivors +1 and let them keep their offerings after a killer rage quits.

  • Eh, I'm not sure. I never lose connection. I have 1gb cable connection and am on a hangouts video call with some friends. Never lose connection with that when I DC from the game, but who knows.

  • I had two matches canceled because of DC and 4 pips lost. :/

this is so annoying, trying to get to rank 1 and deranked back to 4 even though i black pipped

    I was rank 1 a few days ago. Now I'm rank 7.

  • What's equally as annoying is when the killer is getting owned and quits, prevents you from pipping, and takes your offering/addons.

  • Same happens for killers at higher ranks. You can 4k a team and still lose a pip, or more often, get 0 pips.

  • Don't survivors get extra BPs for chases? Maybe they just want a few extra points

In my experience, Survivors tend to call anything camping where the Killer catches them at the hook, regardless of the reason. It is kind of silly, and self-serving. To keep things very clear and simple, me and mine use the following terminology:

    1. Squatting: The Killer stands at the Hook point blank to stare at the victim and try to deter/prevent any rescue.
    2. Lurking: The Killer is very close to the Hook, but hides from both the hooked and potential rescuers, often employing Perks.
    3. Camping: The Killer stays in the general vicinity, doing a series of short range patrols so they can return quickly to the hook.

Thus, me and mine can simply say, We've got a Lurker... or we've got a Squatter... or we've got a Camper... and all of know EXACTLY what we mean. It conveys all the important information. I mostly play Solo, because my friends and I can't get together that often. But when we do, we prefer terms that are more specific.

The simple truth is that the only way to encourage Killers to leave the area of the Hook entirely is to make it worth their while. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Thus, Killers either have to be getting a benefit in BP by leaving the area, or be provided with a direction to go. I've often suggested that Killers should earn a version of Bold advancement (not unlike Survivors do for staying in the Killer's Terror radius) for moving a certain distance from the Hook and staying outside of it.

In general, Killers tend to move away from Squatting once they are away from the Potato Ranks because it isn't an effective strategy. Lurking and Camping (as I define them) are niche tools and are always on tap depending on a match or the Killer's build. For example, Killers with the Perk: Insidious or some power via Add-on(s) might lurk nearby using the hook as bait. Some Killers like Hag and Spooky Myers (Scratched Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo) will do the series of patrols using their respective powers to watch the Hook and return to it quickly to intercept. That is their thing. It is how they offset being slow.

Most of the bad things that happen to Survivors are the result of the choices of Survivors (themselves and their Peers). I know that sounds harsh, but it is true. There are ways to make safe rescues, and even snatch a Survivor right under the nose of a Squatter. It takes coordination and practice. Time is the most important resource Survivors have and like it or not, having one person do maximum time on the hook can be a godsend to the group that milk as much Generator time out of it as possible.

This. People call anything camping if they get downed shortly after leaving the hook. I've been playing spirit and usually will leave the area after hooking and try to pressure all the nearest gens. If survivors get unhooked quickly while you're in the area, you can often phase-walk back, see the scratches, and down them again. Survivors shouldn't have the expectation that killers will see an easy target and pass up a free hook just because the person has already been hooked. The objective is to kill and win, not ensure some random survivor has a good time.

If survivors are so worried about being "tunneled", isn't that what DS is for? Why not practice and get better at looping? Why not just take one for the team, let your buddies finish the gens while you are getting camped or whatever? Some survivors have this cognitive distortion in their head of how the game should play out, and when they don't get what they want, they experience this big negative emotion and blame shift.

I have doubts about the validity of this story, especially at red ranks, people in red are generally more choosey with their DCs. Maybe a pic would have helped, pics or it didn't happen as the saying goes.

You never know on the internet, but it doesn't seem hard for me to believe. I have very little time in this game (<100 hours), just started playing killer maybe a week ago, and have already experienced this. I'm still running a naked spirit with no perks, rank 8, and had two rank 2s and a maybe rank 4 d/c from a game today. Some guy was trying to taunt me and got downed twice quickly at the start of the match. One of the other guys was doing dumb plays trying to rescue him from the hook, probably assuming I sucked, and got downed. First guy disconnected, and then the other two high ranked guys quit right after this. I felt bad for the last guy, so I led him around to finish all the gens, do the totems, open boxes, etc. He ended up being a low ranked dude and thanked me afterwards. I've also had several other matches where one red rank person would d/c after getting downed, but this was my first 3 person d/c. Do you not lose pips if you d/c? Maybe it seems easier to d/c and move on to an easier match rather than prolonging a losing battle that might not result in many bloodpoints.

Yeah I have to deal with it a few times being a spirit main. It absolutely sucks but best thing to do is to just ignore it. Recently, I got this one survivor that got salty I 4k’d with spirit at Mount Ormond. This same guy literally had the DS + Unbreakable combo as well which made me lul even more.

You mentioned some companies have made anti-toxicity initiatives. What did they do? How did they deal with this issue?

EA, Valve, the company that makes COD, and others have recently developed measures to address social toxicity. Valve, for example, will mute players who get too many in-game reports. EA said they would restrict or revoke services for toxic behavior. I think an auto-mute feature would be nice for DBD based on in-game reports.

Spirit is a top tier killer, so it's going to draw more ire than any other killer. That doesn't make it okay, but that is just truth.

Your options are basically the following:

    • Disable chat and leave it turned off.
    • Leave it on, and just ignore it but file a report for people saying things like this. (ᵀʰᵒᵘᵍʰ, ᴵ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ᵗʰᶦⁿᵏ ᴮᴴⱽᴿ ᵈᵒᵉˢ ᵐᵘᶜʰ ᵃᵇᵒᵘᵗ ᶦᵗ ᵘⁿˡᵉˢˢ ᵗʰᵉʸ ᵏᵉᵉᵖ ᵃᶜᵗᶦⁿᵍ ˡᶦᵏᵉ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵒⁿ ᵃ ʳᵉᵍᵘˡᵃʳ ᵇᵃˢᶦˢ ᵗᵇʰ)

That's about it. I mean there are people trashing on trapper and wraith players on the forum here right now, people are going to give you talk like that no matter what. Just play what you want, turn off chat.

TBH they should make it an option to disable it in options; and show a mute/deaf icon next to your name in the post and pre game lobby. They insist what they do is enough; but BHVR doesn't understand human nature very well and that people are going to constantly feel the need to toggle it, or to reply, and so on....and having an option you can't change in the lobby itself would help a TREMENDOUS amount with toxic related problems in this game.

It's why I love console players so much. We can't say anything to each other, that's how I like it.

Yes, I think I will disable the chat probably.

I have a thick skin and am not bothered too much by these comments, but I think you also can't ignore the fact that this behavior has long-term negative effects on players.
