  • Every 3 months feels a little short. 6 mo to a year would probably be better. I'd love to see them regularly tweak the most and least used perks to encourage different builds.

  • Buffing solo over swf will discourage swf. Not all of us play with irl friends. We make friends with strangers for swf. If I'm better off or on par as a solo I'm not going to bother seeking out people. That's been one of the cool parts about DBD is the social aspect.

Even worse I wont be recruiting friends. If we stop recruiting friends the game loses growth. It won't be good for the community or the long term health of the game.

Not trying to simp or anything but the approach they're taking where they just tweak for the overall numbers is probably best. I watch my kid get 4ks all the time and he's young enough I probably shouldn't be letting him play a horror game lol. An occasional op swf doesn't ruin the game for me. I still feel like I win plenty of matches.

  • I main Artist and I'll help you out. Spread out, especially on levels with different floors/2 story buildings. If I shoot all three crows, the cool down is too long for me to do damage with them. I can only chase one person down. This means I typically shoot one crow at a time so I can snipe. If you zig zag unpredictably while getting rid of the swarm it's hard to get that second hit. That way when I do chase you down you have full health. Then chain your loops. Sticking to the same one won't work. Trying to mind game a pallet will get you hit. If you're unpredictable enough I'll waste a lot of time placing or shooting useless crows.

Holding W doesn't work either, lol. Running straight will get you sniped no matter how far you get or what's between us. There's nothing I love more than hitting someone across the map and watching them run straight while dispersing the swarm and people do it all the time.

She's definitely not OP, although I can see how she's not fun to play against. She can be really oppressive.

  • Really liked it. Loads of BP. Only downside is now I'm saddled with 70+ dowsing rods I can't use because I was getting them faster than I could use them.

  • Every time I use that perk I get no value from it and I play on PC.

I go a few weeks without touching it then I get a game where I am close to wiggling free and I try it again. I always regret wasting the slot.

  • I honestly don't mind people throwing in the towel when the outcome is inevitable. Really the only DCs that drive me nuts are when survivors do it so early the game isn't decided. What's the point of even starting a game at that point? And you're screwing over 3 other players. If a killer DCs they really aren't screwing anyone.

  • Yeah this is a bit of a problem. I'm saying this and I frequently see people frozen the first 5 seconds or so. I can see it as bad from a killer perspective but only if all the survivors actually load fast. It's frustrating to start working a gen and see other survivors standing like mannequins. I've played killer and have been able to down survivors before they load but that's rare. It's more annoying knowing I'm playing a team game as a survivor and 2 or three of my teammates are running at a few seconds disadvantage. I guess I'm just surprised that my loading screen ends before other players. It's weird and even though I benefit from it I don't think it's good.

  • For survivor it's whoever I'm currently dumping points into. They're mostly just skins once you unlock their perks. I kinda wish each survivor had a BK ability unique to them like killers. It'd make choosing a main matter.

For killer it's Artist. She had a learning curve but I love the information she gets and once I got better she's the only one who can do damage while on the other side of the map. Good information, good anti loop, fun power. Really like her set-up but you do have to sink some time into her before her potential is unlocked.

  • I just started letting my sons take turns playing with me. I think they'll get skill checks eventually but right now it's hazardous to work a gen with them. So it's been rough. Fun but rough.

  • CoH burns up so much time for survivors that I think it's a decent trade-off. They either have to run small game with it and waste a slot or spend time finding a totem on their own. Then every time they want to heal they have to run to the totem.

On the flip side if people stopped using CoH or it we're nerfed they could run resilience or something like it and spend more time on gens so killers could complain about gen rushing. It's turning into a circular pattern.

  • I was tunneled last night. It was obvious too. He was in chase with someone and spotted me and broke chase to go for me even though I was quite a bit further away than the Yui he was chasing. It totally backfired. Well, maybe not totally, I did die. The other three managed to pound out 4 gens before the killer got me to death hook though. Then he was stuck with 1 gen left and three survivors who hadn't been hooked. They had no problem getting out

How is tunneling a good strategy again? Just seems prickish. Doesn't seem all that beneficial since it removes a lot of pressure from the gens.

  • Killer it's a 3k or better. 2k is a draw and I really don't feel bad about it. Especially if I can force the two escapees to run and abandon their teammate(s).

Survivor it's 5 gens and 2 or better escapes. For some reason I don't look at 2k as a draw when I'm survivor but I do as a killer. Dunno why.

  • I try to count the hooks when I make a move like the OP. Generally I just avoid death hooking anyone in those mercy games. Otherwise I play full tilt. If I down a player on death hook they get "slugged". I put that in quotes because I really only consider it slugging when you camp them and don't let them get picked up.

Technically it's farming but really killers get decent points even in their worst games. So is the farming really for the killer or is it for the survivor? I've had survivors run to hooks and point at it and I just oblige them. I don't think many merciful players are going to hold a survivor hostage against their will.

  • I'm in EST too and have a friend I play with most nights. Would be nice to have more on mics. We're pretty relaxed so being new is fine. Add me on discord VicRatlhead#6129

  • I have a friend I play with most nights and sometimes we have a third. We're all older and don't really let the game get to us. Add me on discord if you want. VicRatlhead#6129.

  • I've seen the same results. Survivors buckling down on gens now. My last few solo q games have been way better than I'm used to. All that's necessary is adding an incentive to do gens? Crazy.

  • A couple streamers do videos about cheaters and now everyone sees it. Popular streamers might see it regularly because cheaters like embarrassing streamers but it isn't as bad for everyday players.

There have been times I suspected but it's never been obvious. Most of the time I'll just chalk it up to that guy being better than me and move on.

  • I always try not to face camp but there have been more than a few games where people either run right across my FoV to the hook and it's an easy intercept or they harass and run me right next to the hook. I don't get it. Wait 5 seconds for the killer to maybe leave. Call me crazy.

  • I'd be happy if I could just migrate from PC game pass to Steam. They're both PC. Steam just frequently has better deals.

I play 90% of my matches in the role of survivor. I nearly never see a survivor caring for the fun of the killer. Not even me. If I play survivor, I want to escape.

That being said: if I play the 10% of my matches as killer, I am trying to down a survivor as fast as possible. As soon as I hooked the survivor I leave the hook and allow the other survivors to unhook. I do not want any survivor to die on first hook, but to have a fair trial with much interaction and a 4k in the ending. And I do not play Nurse or Mastermind, I do not like them, and I do not even have Blight. I prefer Spirit, Nightmare or Wraith.

I play pretty similarly. Although if the other three survivors allow that first hook to get all the way through I shift to total no mercy mode. It's funny how much it pisses me off to watch a survivor I left alone on hook get through both phases with no rescue.

  • Basekit doesn't bug me. It's about removing something that slows games down in a seriously unfun way. The 22 second unbreakable kinda pushes it IMO though. Maybe unbreakable should let you get up in full health after 45 sec? IDK.

Bully squads are rare enough and the funny thing about the complaints against them is they almost always lead to a high score 3-4k for me because they don't do gens and eventually go down. I always look at them as great practice for how to handle good survivors. Using them as a reason "X" change is bad is kinda pointless. They're an aberration, not a norm.

I can see problems for the twins. For sure. Their power should get tweaked in some way.

Maybe Myers too but I really don't know. His power lasts 60 seconds and how often are there still 4 survivors when you hit T3? The way people are talking it's like they expect him to be entitled to 4 slugs in 60 seconds then guaranteed hooks on top of that. I think the alarmism over him is overrated. 4 downs in 60 seconds means the survivors are awful. If 4 survivors are standing when Mike hits T3 he's not very good either imho. I pretty frequently see him hit tier 3 twice a match. I mean, killers always say it so I don't feel bad, "get better." I see enough really good Shapes in my games to think he absolutely doesn't deserve the derision he gets. For any killer I really think you should only count on your power getting you 2 kills. The other half you better just be good at M1ing.

  • I don't really see the problem with strong gen perks for killers or survivors. It's the asymmetry that is part of the fun. One game a speed perk is great, another game a second chance perk would've helped more, etc. If you nerf everything the replay disappears because the perks and items change the game less and less.

  • As an artist main I say cleanse away...

You can't risk hooking the third survivor. What if they kill themselves on hook to help their team mate get the hatch? Your Mori offering will be wasted.

There's a lot of problems with survivor suicide. This is probably the tiniest one.

It doesn't sound like a decent rework for something that doesn't need a rework.

However, a post by @MagiDavid in the Feedback section has probably the only rework suggestion I'd back for a Mori (basically, making a Mori system into a token system, where every killer has 1 token to start with at every trial which grants 1 Mori, and then change the Mori offerings to add an extra 1,2,3 tokens to grant further Moris).

But this new idea a) could make watching the Mori quite boring and predictable, b) takes away the special and varied ways a Mori may enter a match to add spice, and c) ends a game rather abruptly and takes away survivor escape hook options, or a killer wanting to down a survivor, but with an intention of carrying them to the hatch.

The idea is pretty needless for me.

Definitely could get boring. It'll be a good 40-60% of matches that end in a mori. I was honestly psyched to get mori'd by Ghostface the other day since it was one I hadn't personally seen yet. On the other hand I'm getting bored with Mikey's since I watch it frequently enough.

It's literally the only way for killers to secure their Mori bonus.

Killers are now incentivised to finish the game with a Mori finisher, either because they brought a Mori offering which means they have to to get value out of it, or because doing so enables them to completely bypass 6 hooks and instantly end the game half-way through. The only way to do that is to ensure you down the final survivor. You can only do this if they don't get to the hatch first. So now there is even more reason for killers to make sure the last survivor doesn't reach that hatch.

It doesn't really matter that survivors can pick themselves up, and not everyone is going to be running Unbreakable, especially when it inevitably gets nerfed. If you only have two survivors in the game (because surprise surprise you tunnelled the first two out) you can safely keep one slugged while you search for the other one.

If the one you slugged gets up, you know exactly where they are, because they panicked about the finisher Mori and recovered instead of crawling away, so you just make a beeline straight back to them and smack them down again. Each time you do this you're covering more and more of the map, closing in on the final survivor. You might need to smack each survivor down a few times, but you will eventually have them both on the ground at the same time and secure your Mori. While you're playing this whack-a-mole game, those survivors won't have the opportunity to repair gens, because they're either recovering on the ground or hiding from you.

Survivors can now expect to spend even more time lying on the ground, because every time you stand up, just to be instantly smacked back down again, you're pausing your 4 minute bleedout timer.

Downed or hooked, and it's just remaining survivors. You can still mori if you have two left and down the last survivor. It's just removing the necessity of dragging that last survivor to a hook for the guaranteed sacrifice. Slugging for the 4k is going to be a weak strategy with or without unbreakable. 45 sec isn't that long to run a killer either.

  • Slug for the 4k? It takes 22 seconds to get up with unbreakable. Unless you're some super nurse slugging for 4k isn't happening.

  • All these people in thread talking about MMR when the original post was made on the reset day, smh. Failing up on MMR isn't the problem on the 13th.

My escape rates are smaller on solo but I still get eacapes. Big thing is aura perks. Bond gives a lot of info nearby. Even no auras tell you something if the terror radius is audible. Empathy is great because you can see the killer hurt people and how the run is going. Alert is decent too since killers frequently break stuff.

When I'm in a SWF I can drop those perks but in Solo they're a lifesaver.

  • The toxic comments are a lot more rare for me than the good sport comments. Generally I complement killers that play well. Most of the time I get good luck wishes on my next game.

The slugging thing in the op is kind of a dumb thing to whine about. It's not like you were stopping them from crawling around. The second guy could've easily left to find the hatch. A long shot, sure, but nobody makes a survivor stay in an unhookable corner. That was his choice.

  • When I let a final player go it's not because I specifically like them. Sometimes they're just the last in a team I thought played well. No insult to the ones who got sacrificed.

  • Still like it so, yes.

I think the slower gen speeds encourage face camping so that kind of bugs me. The justification for the killer buff seems to be "well, elite swf teams still wreck killers." And I'm not sure that's the way to balance a game without an easy to use in game voice chat.

Still having fun with it though. I just find the only real way to consistently escape is to hook up in voice with other survivors. If that's the case and that's what the game is balanced around Behavior needs to add in game voice chat.

  • A

    @MrPenguin said:

Good survivors and map design still roll most of the killer cast.

    To me that's not balanced.

Solo que can be rough if you get bad teammates, but that's just how solo q works in any team based PvP game.

Solo needs to be brought closer to swf then survivors need to be nerfed again/killers buffed. But until that happens I'm mostly ok where the game is now.

You really want a game only balanced around the top players? I mean I get more 4ks with my killers than escapes with my survivors. Shouldn't we expect it to be about even in a "balanced" game?

  • Not a great idea to balance a game without in game chat based on good SWFs.

I'm kind of new but have been a lifelong gamer so learning hasn't been too hard. I play survivor mostly and dump the vast majority of my BP into survivors. Plan my builds, practice looping, etc. I play killers to get rift challenges and dailies. I level them to 15 so I can slot the best of whatever 4 perks my level 15 killer has. Usually just a few tier 2 perks. Somehow my killer rank was higher than my survivor rank this month.

I understand killer mains like to tell people to 'git gud' or whatever but killer is just clearly easier by a longshot. At least from my perspective.

  • Toolboxes are gone pretty quick. Do they really need nerfed? Unless you get lucky with plunderer's you're doing the majority of repairs without a toolbox.

  • Haven't had much trouble. I did freeze once while the entity was taking me. I blame the Pyramid Head smacking the hook while the animation was going on. Why do killers do that? It makes the clicky teabaggers look tame.

  • Longer gen times made camping more viable. It's great reassurance is getting added to discourage camping but a little sad that it's a perk people may or may not carry and it's really only useful against killers who actually camp.

It'll be like bringing unbreakable because you got slugged a few times and then ever killer you face after adding it immediately picks you up.

Used to work out that if someone camped you could hyperfocus on gens and get three out.

VERY true. I'm a killer main and I do not understand at all how people still think killer is weak.I was red rank 1 before update but imo it's much easier to hit that now. I think it's patience with a lot of people, they have a bad game and blame killer instead of themselves. Either that or it's survivors mains that switched after update lol

I agree. I'm a survivor main and dump the majority of BP into the survivor side. I level my killers to 15 so I can get whatever 4 rank two perks are available mostly just to do challenges. I wound up at Gold II without trying. I show mercy a lot too. Pretty sure if I went all out I could hit red rank with my level 15 killer.

  • I just do it while waiting in queue. Is it really that bad? There's always some jackass not readying up and making you wait the full minute before the match starts anyway.

  • Oh man, Artist is pretty good on big maps as well. Especially against people who don't understand her power. I can be on the opposite side and fire the crows at a gen and watch the swarm run away from the gen. You can keep pressure while a long way away.

  • @TAG said:

    My understanding is this:

"Tunneling" is derived from "tunnel vision," which refers to a loss of peripheral vision. When one is described as having a "tunnel vision mentality," it means they are focused entirely on a singular goal without any consideration of outside circumstances surrounding you.

If you as a Killer are dead-set on knocking one person out of the game as soon as possible while generally ignoring everything and everyone else, you are in a tunnel vision menality and are thus tunneling. If the Killer is keeping gen pressure going, keeping Survivors off gens and also making sure that they secure a kill as quickly as possible to screw up Survivor momentum, that's not tunneling so much as playing efficiently.

A Survivor would be said to be in a tunnel vision mentality if and specifically if they are hammering out gens without any consideration for who is on a hook, who is in danger of dying, where the Killer is (unless they are directly on top of that Survivor), etc. If they are hammering out gens but still keeping the Killer busy when needed or still unhooking when the opportunity arises or still knocking out Hexes as seen/needed, that's also not tunneling so much as just playing efficiently.

Probably the best post in this thread IMO.

I had 3 Dwights leave a Jake to die on his first hook while popping gens. I often show mercy when I play killer but not that game. Those Dwights had to die.

  • Pretty rare for me as survivor or killer. If they were secret I think they might be more attractive but if the other side is paying attention it boils down to who's closer.

I tend to avoid them on the bloodweb if I can.

I was thinking they should add Wendy Torrance since the devs are competing against each other to design the most ugliest survivor.

Lol, doesn't have to be the movie version. The actress that played her in Dr Sleep looked pretty good.

    Poor Shelly Duvall...

On a serious note. If Jack is the killer and the map is the Overlook it absolutely has to be Wendy. Danny has different antagonists.

  • Some do. Had a Trickster let me and another survivor repair gens after the other 2 DCed.

Probably changes with where we're at between rank resets. Haven't had much mercy in the past week but next week we might see more.

Usually I'll let survivors go if there's a DC. Doesn't seem fair. Had a game recently though where a David realized I was letting him go and let me chase him a bit. I gave him a couple stuns then he took me to a hook and pointed to it. Figured he just wanted out of the game at that point.

  • Realistically it could be a pain to even get to the part that's broken without at least a screwdriver or the right wrench. Most covers are screwed on.

    They're just mcguffin objectives.

  • Will add you on discord. I play on pc through XBox. Really trying to get to a point where there's always at least someone to play with at any given time. I'm not hyper competitive. Just nice to be able to communicate. My discord is VicRatlhead#6129

  • EST? If so my friend and I are usually on about the same time. We're in the same boat, just want 4 on voice so we can coordinate better. My disc is VicRatlhead#6129 I'll shoot a request.

  • Is it all caps? I tried and came up no results. I'm interested if you want to add me. VicRatlhead#6129

  • I'd like to get in. An IRL buddy and I play most nights in EST. Sometimes we play midday so have been able to hook up with EU players as well. My discord is VicRatlhead#6129.

Oh? You've never gotten on a gen before and refused to touch another gen until you had that one done?

No offense but the tunneling gen mumbo jumbo is totally comparing apples to oranges. Tunneling a survivor knocks them out of the game with under 5k points. A killer would have to stand in the corner doing absolutely nothing to earn such subpar rewards.

I've let everyone go and still gotten over 25k. I mean, it's just completely different.
