  • I mean, if you gonna make a post like this you may as well say stop complaining about both sides. Not just one side. I more often see people complaining about survivors than killers these days.

But you gonna see a lot of complaining... You're not the only one and you won't be the last to be tired of the complaining but that is what games & forums are, full of complaining.

  • It's not even a bad perk. It's just highly dependent on the situation. So against one shot killers, if you have it on don't bother with it unless the killer is that bad and M1s a lot. If there's one gen left with 3-4 people alive, just do the gen. If there's 5 gens left, just do a gen.

It's probably better to only use Self Care when your team is 1) actually good and/or 2) the killer keeps finding you/the team keeps leading the killer around you and you don't wanna be a 1shot when they come around.

Some people are good with the perk, some people are selfish. Let them use whatever perks they want? I like the perk myself but refuse to use it without Botany, plus Botany also gives better healing for teammates too.

    SWF is toxic.

The game isn't built for it and has never been balanced around it. It is only here because of the cash it generates and because to a degree it has kept the game alive.

It's a multiplayer game. Friends or not it is MEANT to be played with others. I've seen SWF not on coms and still beat killers... coms doesn't mean much. There's a difference between having fun with friends and being toxic with friends. Sure, I make callouts but it doesn't make me toxic, sorry that I actually have friends I want to spend time with unlike some others. But guess WHAT? Whether it's balanced or not, its apart of the game and BHVR says its allowed. The day all killers stop camping, tunneling, slugging, etc (which are also apart of the game that bhvr says is allowed) is the day I will stop SWF'ing.

The toxic part is where all 4 people bring DS, Headon, BT, Flashlights, etc with the INTENT to bully. I do not do that. I bring perks because I like that but never have intent on tbagging or bullying of any kind.

  • Honestly, to a point I agree that survivors shouldn't spawn so close to the totem. If anything it should spawn near the killer or something but there are also matches where I've spawned away from all other survivors, kinda close to killers... seen where they come from and I could just go there and see if they have a totem in the area. The maps are only so big. There's only a certain amount of places it could be.

But also, it's your own fault for taking a chance perk like that. Don't rely on something that could be destroyed seconds into the match... There are 5 totem spawns, the hex spawns randomly on one. There are totems usually close to where a survivor spawns. YOU took the chance and failed with it that round.

Do you need it? Probably not because you could use pop or something else to slow progression/better regression. Do you feel it helps with your build and playstyle? Well, it seems so but don't expect it to work every single time.

I mean, it's either the lucky useful person lives or everyone dies, it isn't a "that's unfair" issue. Just suck it up that you didnt win the lottery, maybe next time. (In my Jake case I usually let an extra person leave too because I realize how stupid my bias is lmao)

I'll look out for any "Unicorn"s and "Venoxxie"s in the game and drink some tea with you guys, with a special ticket to Hatchland

Well, again, I don't really expect to win or farm or anything all the time. So if you did see me, treat me like anyone else in the match \o/ No hatches for me. Unless they are hatch..ets.. heh

But also, it's like sure, I'll accept it but in my own annoyed state xD Sure, it's unfair but it's one of the more acceptable unfair things the game has cuz I can easily just move onto the next match and brush it off (unlike most other unfair things I bother ranting about). But ye, was just sharing in the rant with Uni lol.

  • I mean... I will agree. Even if the teammate did do something, I still find it annoying like "Why are THEY so special...?" I feel either everyone should be killed or allowed to live. Not "Lol I dunked on 3 of you but now cuz this person just HAPPENED to be the last person they get to live." Heck, sometimes it's not even the last person, one day a while back I versed a killer with just me and a rando left. The rando went down and the killer decided to slug them to come find and kill me then let them have hatch. And I didn't even do nothing rude during the match to make them want me dead rather than the other person.

The whole favorites is also tiring "Omg, I LOVE Jakes! I need to let them out everytime!" Sorry I don't play your favorite characters? or Boop the Snoot where if we don't boop we die, like I stopped taking that chance cuz most new killers dunno what that is and older killers don't like doing that stuff anymore. This is just a situation of "Play by my rules or you die" which is frankly annoying.

Do I expect to win every match or have a nice farming killer all the time? No, that do get kinda boring. However, if you're gonna kill me then kill them too (unless you actually couldn't because they managed to get out before you caught them). Again, why them? Why not any other person? Why not get your 4k instead?

I mean sure, it's also a play how you want kind of situation and if you want to let the last person escape, killers, then sure. Let them escape I guess. Just sharing in the pain with the OP at this point.

It's because people can choose to play one side, usually survivor. Which, while good for the longevity and enjoyment of the game, means that people don't really understand the opposing side. They create their own ideas of how their opponents should play because they genuinely think their imaginary way if playing works.

And I specified 'survivor' because that seems to be the root cause. Certain survivors attack the killer for breaking their imaginary set of rules, a lot of those killers get driven even further away from the survivor experience because of the tribal mentality common to all humans, this creates the "us Vs them" dynamic that you see a lot more the further up you rank, and suddenly you have people that have no clue what their opponents go through because they refuse to play both sides relatively equally.

The problems that inflate this are the power gap between killers, the power gap between solo and SWF, the power gap between what each side brings into trials (Nurse Vs 4 solo's, Pig Vs a full genrushing party), and certain people essentially bullying those players who are less prepared than them, either for their own twisted version of revenge for when it happened to them or for pure videogame sadism.

I mean, survivors really aren't the root cause. We'll never know who started this entitled toxic war between both sides but that's also just how games are... it's not just DBD. However, both sides are at fault. I've seen killers call survivors toxic just for knowing how to run a loop. I've been called toxic because I enjoy swf over solo. Killers also have their imaginary set of rules. We can't SWF, we're not allowed to loop or do gens, we can't escape, we can't have hatch, we aren't allowed to do anything and we deserved to be tunneled/camped to heck even if we did nothing wrong, etc. Now, yes, survivors also have their rules but don't just point a finger at one side.

Just stick with "People choose to play one side and due to that, refuse to understand how the opposite side works" period. Which, yes, is pretty much what it is.

  • To those who say that bhvr is just working on making kyf better or whatever... Well I guess I don't keep enough up to date on stuff to have ever heard of them caring about kyf BUT it shouldn't be just a kyf thing if this ever was added. I don't have 9 other friends to always play with. They should add it to the real game because, joking around in a match or not, it'd be highly possible to take out those 10 survivors or for a majority/all of those survivors to escape. Plus, if you care so much about winning as killer and hate relying on someone else to help, it's obviously a completely optional thing to play. No one would force you.

If people were to feel like it'd be too chaotic on survivor side, make survivors only have 3 perks for that gamemode. As for killer side... the fact that I see some killers actually get a 4k at 5 gens on a normal mode, I think they could potentially handle 8v2. Just make the lobby a little bit longer for survivors and rando killers to get their perks sorted out. Cuz for example if there was noed, it could work for both killers if only one killer had it.

I mean Deathgarden had a gamemode like that and I thought the game was just fine with that mode (granted it wasn't optional unless you wanted to back out of that match and keep going into other queues).

However, the point was already made that bhvr can't even balance their normal 4v1 matches. And regardless of knowing bhvr, they don't care too much about those who want to have fun and see more added.

  • Survivor Perk: Entity's Apathy

After years of watching the endless torture of survivors, the entity begins to grow bored of the same old story.

Once per match while on your first hook press the active ability button while the killer is within 20 metres of the hook to have the entity place you on a different hook. This can include basement, nearby, or broken hooks and if a hook was broken, it will immediately be fixed upon being placed on one. The hook's aura will not be shown to the killer for the next 12/14/16 seconds. This will result in you becoming the obsession.

This increases your chances of being the obsession.

  • That video has nothing to do with the DS nerf. This thread should be titled "Does anyone have fun in solo survivor period?" as this has happened to me months before the DS change where I got tunneled out of the match within 1 1/2 min - 2 minutes. You don't have DS and had you had it, you could have used it after the first hook because the actions that remove DS only count for you doing the action, not someone else doing it to you as far as I understand.

This situation has happened long before the DS change because killers dunno how to chase anyone else and be fair (while I get they are supposed to be a ruthless killer without remorse, it makes the game awful for survivors as you get times like this video where you're literally not allowed to do anything and all killers tell you is get better and hate it when told the same thing if they get creamed).

Secondly, the queues tend to be long on both sides. Depends on where you live and the time of day.

Lastly, why do you think killers are toxic? Because survivors are. It goes both ways on that, it's not a one way street so don't make it sound like it is.

  • I think the change should have been something along the lines of this:

    -60 second timer

-The timer goes faster for 5/4/3% (numbers could be changed) while doing any action or while sitting in a locker.

-The perk deactivates when you reach the Healthy state or someone else is hooked. - Making it not able to be used with Adrenaline anymore in end game.

Otherwise there is no point to the timer in the direction the perk is going. Heck, there'd be no point to the perk at all anymore as it will just encourage people to sit and do nothing. Now you might say "LOL just don't use the perk!" and while I know this is what killers want, I could say the same about what perks you guys shouldn't use but oh no, I'd be in the wrong for saying that, wouldn't I? Please stop thinking you guys are the only ones allowed to have op perks. No point in perks if they ain't got a use or we're just expected to never use them. I suppose you killers just want every survivor to go perkless and hand the wins to you on a silver platter? Nah... pass.

But also, I've had those moments where I think I'm safe so even if my teammate is allergic to healing me, I still would prefer to be useful so I work for like 3-5 seconds on a gen and turns out the killer was just making their way back from across the map to come find me again. I'd consider that tunneling tbh as I didn't really have time to do anything. Or or if I think the killer is in a chase (like say someone got injured as I got pulled off the hook) so we start healing each other (under or nearby the hook) and for some ungodly reason the killer is coming back like no dude, you were in a chase. Go away. You can't tell me you hit them and immediately lost them, you just didn't even bother to try.

Tunneling to me means if you're only going to focus on me, whether you come back to me in one second or ten seconds, then you are a tunneler. So if I feel safe within those 10 seconds and try to be useful... well that's not allowed as now apparently! Nope, you guys get ruin and pop and stuff to pretty much murder a gen nearby the hook if no one else knows it's there but we can't work on it for even one second if we have DS unless we just want a wasted perk. But okay, next let's buff gen regression, nerf progression for you guys like you killer mains complain about all the time, but then "omg, you worked on the gen for ONE SECOND? GEN RUSHER! THAT COUNTS AS PROGRESS!!" Excuse me?

  • My general advice:

Stop complaining if you are new to the game (less than 100 or 200 or so hours), you haven't played too long. Play a while longer and play both sides equally. You'll come to realize the pain on both sides and realize what you are complaining about is not something to be complaining about. You're just mad about it because the role you wish to main is too hard for you. The game takes SKILL. No, I'm not saying 'git guud' because no one can expect anyone to be a pro, not even someone like myself who has been playing for 2-3 years - I'm definitely not a pro. However, there are killers out there who can breeze through their matches and get a 4k, even those who don't breeze through still tend to get a 4k. There are also survivors who are pretty smart against most, if not all killers, and they manage to escape. Just because you fail numerous killer matches doesn't mean killers are weak and same for survivors. You win, you lose but just because you're not doing great, reflect on your own skill. Not the perks, items, addons, offerings, or killer being used. I've seen even the weakest killers (characters, not players) get 4ks at red ranks because the person playing the killer knew how to handle it. They knew how to play. Take the time to get used to the game and learn A LOT more before you put in your 2 cents.

Also, don't be toxic. Even if others are toxic to you, break the cycle. You dunno if you are making someone's day/depression/etc worse and you could be the reason someone ends up bullying others, cries in real life, or even harms themselves. Try to have civil conversations and if you don't like what happened in a match just don't say anything and move to the next one. If you wanna defend yourself, fine but have some sense while doing so.

    Killer Advice:

I don't play killer much but think of a 3k (not just a 4k) as a win as well. A 2k as average. 1k, well at least you got some points! Rank 1 isn't everything, you do not need to sweat so hard to get that 4k. So what if the last survivor gets the hatch, you still did amazing! If you failed then fail with some dignity. Does game rank really mean that much? Remember, it's not like you're getting a million bucks out of it if you get all 4 kills. While 4 kills isn't wrong to have, just remember you don't NEED it. You won't die without it (like a lot of other killers seem to think, don't sink into that awful mental state).

    Survivor Advice:

Meme'ing around and is great and all but if you are in solo queue, think of how your team will feel if you're doing nothing and just throwing yourself to the killer. Remember, the killer decides if the match will be meme-able or not. Not you. If they wanna kill and be ruthless about it they will regardless of what you do. If you're on survivor, you're on a team. Doesn't matter if you queued up solo, there are 3 others who will be with you in the match. Have fun in your own way, yes, but not at the expense of others. Don't make them mad just so you can have fun.

Please, be kind and remember the objective of the game is to survivor and help your team do the same. While you do not have to die for them, help them along as much as you can! Don't leave them on the hook the whole time, if no one else goes for them try to save even if that's not the playstyle you wanna go for! Teammate workin' on a gen? Help them out if there's not already a 2nd person there (as 3-4 on a gen is bad), don't act like you dunno what a generator is.

No t-bagging. You dunno if you're with a baby killer or a pro killer 'til the end of the match.

  • I dunno what survivors you talk to but DS is most certainly not useless. If they say it is, it's because killers seem to get turned on by tunneling then acting all scared of DS (so why tunnel) so they slug for like 2-3 minutes because they dunno how to count to 60 seconds. That's the only reason DS might end up being useless.

I dunno how much survivor killer mains play but if they do and they feel they never get tunneled all that often well, think of how many people are on this game. Those who claim they never get tunneled are not everyone. There are A LOT of people who get tunneled. Just because one killer main doesn't tunnel, doesn't mean no killers tunnel. Etc.

However, the reason why people are mad is because out of all the op killer perks, the only thing really taking a hit is Undying. But bhvr is going after two loved survivor perks (one of which I rarely see used) because killer mains can't handle it. The reason people are mad is because the nerf is also unfair. Killers say it's balanced but if anything, it's able to be abused by killers. I read a forum about the Dev stream and no where in it does it clarify that if someone starts healing me, do I lose DS for that? Or what about moments where I feel safe because I thought the killer was in a chase across the map so I try to work on a generator to be useful but lolnope... the killer was on their way back to be rude to me and because I tried to be useful for all of 5-ish seconds, I lost out on 60 whole seconds of DS. What's the point in having it be a 60 second timer if anything we do will get rid of that within a split second?

If anything it should have been:

    -60 second timer.

-Timer goes faster by 4/3/2 % (numbers could be changed) when doing any action.

-As soon as you are in the Healthy state or someone else is hooked, the timer goes away.

  • Did three rounds as killer, 3ks and 4ks were about what I got. I personally feel it depends on the teams you verse, your own skill, and the killer you play as it's always been. Some solos are big brain, sometimes you get swf, and sometimes you get potato gamers. Certain killers don't even need BL providing you have the skill and perks good for it.

I'm not a good killer & don't play it much but I did fairly well even without BL as a Hag.

  • Brain hurts from thinking on when I actually had wholesome moments. Seeing as most of the time it's either just a normal match or there's just a bunch of toxicity or other ick going on.

Uhhhh... I'd have to say when we had a hacker in our game... friends and i were in a 3 stack and we ran after the rando hacker trying to help the killer get the get them (unfortunately we couldn't accomplish our goal to trap the hacker). We felt sorry for that killer, but due to the hacker the killer let us live despite me pointing at the hook in their face and trying to let them have a kill.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/201666/im-entitled

Entitlement, noun, "the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment."

You complain about the killer playing in a certain way and not in the way you think he should. That he wasted your time. By definition, you can be called entitled.

For all intents and purposes, the killer who slugged could have found you (if he looked) or could have expected you to be less determined and try to rescue your friends. As long as there is more than just you alive, you can't hatch out and as long as he doesn't hook the last survivor, they can't kill themselves on the hook. It is a perfectly valid tactic to try and secure 4K. Necessary? I would not go that far.. then again, I am not playing to win most of the times, so I do not really count :) Also, I have did it in the past, when for one reason or another I wanted to secure a 4K match and it worked more often than not.

It is common knowledge, especially with SWFs and after all but 1 gens or all gens are done, that the moment you hook the 3rd guy, they will just kill themselves on the hook (or sometimes even DC) just so their buddy can hatch out. The killer did read your intentions apparently well, and did not indulge you.

I'd suggest you just move on, but the answer to your question is a resounding: YES. - since you asked.

Well, then if I'm entitled in the eyes of you and this other killer, then I guess you both - and any other killer like you - are also entitled as you think you are privileged to a free 4k if you feel like you should have it. But I did not expect special treatment of any kind if you're gonna put that definition... Was I expecting hatch for free? No. I didn't even know where it was because we didn't do enough gens for it to pop up. Tbh I was expecting the killer to find it first (as that normally happens to me). Sorry that I just wanna move on to the next match and not spend a hundred years in a single match that shouldn't take so long????

I know that killers slug. They camp. They tunnel. They play in many rude ways. They are not around to make the game fun for the survivors. BUT! At the end of the day it happens, it's whatever at that point. It's not like I'm saying "You NEED to play my way or uninstall" (mainly because I don't have a way I expect people to play) so please don't act like I said that. I'm saying it's a waste of time on both sides and I personally think it's sad the only thing seen as 'holding the game hostage' is if the killer traps a survivor in the corner and never moves nor kills them. If I can go to the bathroom, get food, and ask my roommate how their day is going and still be back before a bleedout timer is over... that's too much time and shouldn't be allowed (it's the same as toxic survivors tbagging in the gate and not leaving until endgame is almost over, that shouldn't be allowed either).

It's one thing to slug when the last person was right there when you downed the 3rd survivor, ok cool mistakes were made hanging around the person being chased. It's another when you've got no idea where they are and will spend the entire 4 minutes most of the time searching and probably not succeeding unless the survivor you're looking for isn't smart. Sure, it's a way to get a 4k but you killers act like you're getting a brand new lamborghini if you get that 4k the way you do it. Most of you killers complain about red rank survs but are so very eager to get yourselves to red ranks just to vs a million more of them and get even more mad about not getting your 4k every single match.

So with all that said, idk how I'm entitled and how you and the other killer are not. It's conversations like this though that make me roll my eyes at killers who complain about "gen rushing" or flashlight saves or tbagging cuz if you're allowed to play this way, expect free 4ks, and not be seen as entitled as well then why are we not allowed to play with mechanics bhvr added in? Why are killers allowed to decide how the game goes and what type of survivor you are? Who died and made you guys kings and queens?

  • @megswifey said:

It'd be different if you were being a sneaky rat (not helping at all and staying at hatch when you have the opportunity to save) but even then that's a strategy, but I don't like it. But you were right to not fall for the bait. Some people body camp and slugging is a way to lure you out. I always motion for the survivors to come closer to me in a safe space, but it's not always possible. You're not entitled for that in my opinion, and if your only option is to die or survive, just... get out! That's the point of being a survivor-- And helping teammates is big, so they took advantage of that aspect and you had to decide. That's ok! Don't dwell on it, and I promise it's just one of those stressful matches where it's a bit too serious, y'know? Either way, good luck in future matches and have fun :)! Also, don't take post game chat too seriously, especially when you played correctly lol

Ye, I try not to. I mainly just wanted a killer main's perspective.

I know whether I like it or not slugging will happen and whether I like it or not. People will be butthurt about not being able to get the 4k. Etc. I just wanted to understand, the killer was a red rank as well so cllleeeeaaarly they know what they're talking about obviouslyyyy.

  • See, I don't like them because of HOW they end loops.

Sure, Huntress and PH can attack long range and then you look at Slinger and killer mains will see "Well, he's got a long range ability just like them, so what's the issue?" the issue with him is that his ability is meant to pull you to him so you can't get away (making your progress to get away pointless), if I throw a pallet and then he hits me with his chain, that should count as me getting away from a hit (if he can't pull me around the loop and m1). I see it as it should only pull you closer, not be a free hit. At least with Doc, he doesn't get a free hit with his shock, he has to use it then get closer. Not to mention dedicated servers are just the biggest crutch for Slinger... Because I love getting hit through a wall when I'm several feet away from where he shot his chain.

Then for PH, sure idc about loops getting shut down vs a Doc or if you make a bad play against a Huntress or whatever but you are forced to go into his Torment or take a m1 hit (which it's good that's getting fixed soon) and you don't have a say in the matter. Why should I allow the killer a free mori or a free way to get out of a possible flashlight blind/pallet stun (even though those never happen for me anyway). Carrying someone to the hook is a basic killer thing and PH caging people rips survivors out of not only perks such as BT and DS (it's not my fault you think the only way you can get a kill is to camp and tunnel) but also our BP (which could be easily fixed but its bhvr...) and survivors don't get much bp as is compared to killers. You should have to bring a mori to use a mori. You should have to bring lightborn to get out of worrying about flashlights. Throwing all of that out the window is a bit op if you ask me.

You expect survivors to learn to play in a different way or just learn to play period but, um... c-can we not say the same about killers...? Ya know, learn to play and you won't have to rely on bull mechanics like this...? The whole "L2P Noob" doesn't only apply to one side. But if you want to only say it about survivors maybe I should remind killer mains that other people who play killers such as one shot killers use things like NoEd cuz they suck at using their abilities...

  • It was a good system though. They do need to fix it.

However, like Luzi said, it is not currently on. They've gone through and turned it on and off numerous times, it's off right now because people are able to abuse it by disconnecting someone else and forcing them into having the penalty I believe.

I know a lot of people hated the system because they felt they should be allowed to DC but I personally wish it was fixed and returned. Those who DC clearly don't like the game and it's "Why are you even playing then if you're not having fun?" People don't seem to realize that other games exist if they aren't enjoying DbD...

  • DCing is only there for emergencies. So no. Crying about what map you got is not an emergency. You win some you lose some. Just because a map is survivor sided, doesn't mean survivors will always do well there.

Everytime I get indoor maps or maps with huge dead zones, I don't cry about it. I just deal with it idc if it's killer sided, I won't DC. Cuz even on these so called survivor sided maps I still tend to lose sometimes. It all depends on the team setup and your skill as killer.

  • I mean... bro has a point though.

What else should we do? Sit in the open and just let you killers find us so you can hook us and win? Sorry, you don't get free wins all the time??? You can get across the map fast enough to stop someone working on a gen. It's all in how you loop, if you cannot loop well enough then that is not the survivor's problem. If you down someone within 20 seconds, you're probably good. If you down someone within a minute or more, you suck and that's why you cannot pressure. I have seen actually skilled killers be able to make it so either no gens get done or at least only two gens get done at max.

Just admit you're not good instead of crying "gen rushers!"

But as some killers have said, yes "gen rushing" is the equivalent to tunneling. Doing gens to get out & survive = survivor objective. Killing survivors = killer objective. Getting a weak link out of the game applies pressure. But yet... at the saaaame tiiiime... all of you killers saying "Well how about tunneling?" are also the ones who complain about gen rushing probably. So don't throw "tunneling is the equivalent of gen rushing" in our face when you believe in the term gen rushing and get mad about it but yet think there's nothing wrong with tunneling.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a survivor main and never believed people should get as mad as they do about tunneling (I understand a bit though when it's like 'Why should we play if we can't actually play because we're just tunneled out of almost every match?'). But if killer mains don't want us getting butthurt 'bout tunnels then I don't wanna see no killer getting butthurt about genrushing. It's annoying to see.

  • @Widden said:

Play whatever you want but don't complain if survivors decide to play toxic too

    ^ this.

The amount of killers I've seen say they're allowed to do this and that and then turn around to complain about what survivors do is just sad. Survivors do as they do because of these killer playstyles (usually)...

Not saying you're not allowed to play how you please but like it sounds like you're complaining about what survivors do when you don't want them to complain about how you play, Erk. So just like... don't? and idk... no need to even bring this whole thing up?

I dont understand the literal obsession of this community with Jason and Springtrap at this Point!

    *pats you*

I don't understand it either. I don't even see why people want more DLC when they want BHVR to focus on bugs and balancing. If people want Jason, they can play Friday the 13th and if they want Springtrap they can cuddle up to him in fnaf. We don't even need more killers, we have plenty of options, quite a few of them are already quite op enough for people to be happy with.

  • I agree it needs a change. Maybe fix the totem spawns though rather than the perk itself because some maps some totems feel practically unfindable. And if we were to fix the perk itself, suggest a fix that actually requires the killer to do something skilled in order to have NoEd proc.

Most killer mains who have clearly never played survivor say "What about your 2nd chance perks?" We use those perks because of how scummy killers play, what are survivors expected to do when they get farmed without BT and you try to tunnel us out of the game? Killers don't have to worry about a team screwing them over or someone not letting them play the game basically (aka making us eat dirt or cuddle the hook all game). Or they might say "Just do bones" but as I said before, some maps have spawns that feel practically unfindable... I don't wanna waste 2-3+ minutes trying to find a totem I can't find, that's not fair to my time and my team I'm not going to be utterly useless because I'm told to "just do bones" that I cannot find for the life of me.

Yet NoEd... you don't have to hook a single person all match and you can still get kills due to NoEd. If you dunno how to play killer, don't play killer.

So either the perks or totems need a fix but idk about this.

  • Tbh, I don't really care. We don't need more DLC... especially licensed DLC since that requires paying someone else for the rights to use it in the game when they could be spending that money on funding for bugs and stuff...

  • Some maps have easy spots, some maps have hard spots. It all depends on the map. Maps with easy spots need a liiiittle bit better spots and those with hard spots need easier to find spots.

However, if anything, they should make the killer spawn closest to their hexes and have the survivors spawn no where near them (however when it comes to full hex builds that might be hard). That way they can't be cleansed within 15-30 seconds of match start.

  • Err... last I recall the penalty came back with the patch. Or did they remove it AGAIN? smh...

But I personally like the penalty... sure I got a 5 minute one the other day because my internet company is being a big dumb but that's my fault for playing with terrible internet. Disconnecting is ONLY there for emergencies as stated by BHVR, it's not an emergency to go cry in a corner because you're losing. So again, I like the penalty. It screws over people who deserve it.

Yes, it has bugs like for instance I saw one the other day where a survivor DC'd and the killer got the penalty somehow... and that's the awful part but other than that, it's a good system it just needs to be perfected.

  • There is a bug where if you were on a different survivor and then you switch to one with a cake, it does not count the cake. It happened to me numerous times during the anniversary until a friend finally told me I should just re-equip it upon switching back.

If you didn't switch characters then switch back prior to match starting then I dunno the issue and it is still, regardless, a bug. So ye... it sucks.

  • Can you not read the patch notes??

"Killer Selection - Killers can no longer change characters while searching for a match / in a lobby (excluding custom matches). This will soon be used by the new matchmaking system to provide better match balance based on your skill with each killer individually, instead of a global killer rating."

The survivors have no powers to get a hang of, no passives, no nothing different about them. Perhaps they're just spending BP on another survivor until the last second? I do that if I have the BP. They just have another survivor prepared with the perks and items they want. There's only 60 seconds in a lobby (providing everyone stays) so they might feel they don't have time to set things up how they want so they'll use a character they've previously prepared. Every survivor character is pretty much the same, that's why they are not locked there's no skill for different survivors. Killers actually have different powers to be skilled in, they're all actually different in more than just appearance.

And yes, I know about the toxic last second swap in case someone wanted to hide their op flashlight or key, but we can't see ANYTHING of the killer's, not even the killer you're playing as... So why should you be allowed to see our stuff we're bringing if we don't want you to? I don't see it as toxic since it doesn't seem fair you can see us/our items but we cannot see you before the match. You can still at least see the item even 6 seconds before we start, we won't see or hear you until probably 20seconds - 1 minute into the game. So it's not like we're as prepared as you think we are.

  • Cute, but I wasn't farming. Found the flashlight in a chest during the match.

Nice that you have to assume all non purple flashlight without addons saves are just farming matches. It takes getting used to. One day you too can have flashlight skill.

  • I got a save with a yellow flashlight and zero addons at one point. So... uh... argument invalid?

  • And how many killers complain & cry about any strong thing survivors have? Goes both ways bud.

The game is imbalanced and will probably never be balanced.

  • Gen Speed is fine. People make it sound like this happens 100% of all matches. Contrary to popular belief, every single match is NOT made up of SWF. Most people solo que and if there is a swf it's probably only a two stack leaving the others as randos. Pretty much every time I see these threads I'm basically hearing "Screw over solo ques!" but like... let's not? Unless if you wanna balance the game around SWF (because everyone seems to think every match = swf) then we should add coms that way there is reason to balance around swf. But no one wants coms (I don't even want coms and I main survivor) so don't act like this swf gen rushing happens every single match. Hecc, there was one day I was in a full stack of SOLOS. No one knew each other and we got accused of being swf because the killer didn't know how to pressure or find people which wasn't our fault nor problem.

If you nerf the speed even more then I expect any game slowing perks to be heavily nerfed because those killers who already use things like Pop, Thana, Sloppy, Dying Light, etc will just cause survivors to NEVER be able to win.

You killers can't win them all. You will lose some and you will win some. Deal with it.

  • I hope soon. As BHVR has said, DCing is only there for emergencies.

It's not there for people who wanna go cry in a corner because their Ruin was ruined within the first 30 seconds or because you were the first survivor downed within the first 30 seconds. Etc.

It's not fun to play with people who expect you to play their way so they can have fun but then dc & ruin everyone elses fun... hypocrisy...

  • Yes because I knew where hatch was (and the killer didn't seem to know how hatch spawning worked) and when the last person got pulled into the sky I was immediately gone.

No amount of explanation seemed to get through to the killer that when x amount of gens finished and x amount of survivors left alive = spawned hatch.

  • Sad how a rank 1 survivor still doesn't realize when survivors are running around the hook that it's not camping... What's the killer supposed to do when they see all the survivors there? Just let them save? Sure, you kinda failed at your objective during the game but your objective regardless is to kill survivors in any way, shape, or form eeeeven if it's just one kill. Killers aren't supposed to let the survivors save their friends even though it does tend to happen.

Just another case of the non-existent "Survivor Rulebook" Rule number whatever: When you hook a survivor you must walk to a corner of the map and let the rest of the team save.

  • As BHVR said, DCing is only for emergencies.

It is not an emergency to find a round with a killer/player you don't mind versing. It's not an emergency to go cry in a corner because you died within the first 30 seconds. It's not an emergency to go punch your dog because you lost your Ruin or Devour Hope within the first 30 seconds. Etc. These are just a few reasons why I enjoyed the DC penalty because these reasons are the only reasons people DC.

I see it as, if people DC because they don't like something in the match... they should PLEASE uninstall. They clearly hate the game THAT much and ONLY play just to ruin everyone else's fun. I understand everyone is a stranger online and you are not obligated to keep their fun going but aren't people DCing BECAUSE they expect all others to play their way so they can have fun??? Hypocrisy...

Just accept everything that comes your way in a match. People know how the game is by now so if they can't accept it, why are they here?

    Bring back the DC penalty ;-;

  • And yet how many killer buffs and updates have been added to the game recently vs the amount of things survivors get? Killers are getting so many changes in good ways for them (aside from poor Billy but that's just one killer). Meanwhile survivors get like 1-2 'buffs' for every like... 5-10 killer buffs and changes.

How many uncounterable and loop ending and sneak ending killers/killer perks are there? Oh look, one was recently added. Deathslinger has next to no counter. Slinger AND Huntress rely heavily on Dedicated Servers more than other killers. Hag can teleport and forces us to go slower with crouching to save people. Doctor can screw over sneak and end loops same with Pyramid Head and Trapper and Hag, etc. Nurse can get across the map super fast. Billy can get across the map super fast. Spirit we cannot tell where she is and is the best mind gamer (and its usually hard to do anything about). A lot of killers have one shots. Etc.

Let me give you a harsh truth for killers that complain.

    1) Faster. You can already go faster than us plus you get bloodlust making you even faster. How are we supposed to get away from that? Bring me to...

    2) Looping. Sure, a lot of survivors are good at looping but HOW MANY loops were nerfed because killers complained (and they still complain because the killers dunno how to loop, not our fault)? How many maps have like 100 unsafe loops or dead areas we cannot get away in? You realize pallets are eventually wasted by the end-ish (depends on what everyone else has been doing) so even if you can't get iridescent in gatekeeper, you can still probably get a 4k providing you're good... which brings me to...

    3) Sorry the game takes SKILL. You already have a lot going for you, you just need to get smart.

    4) Survs doing objective too fast? Sorry you dunno how to pressure and killers with SKILL actually do.

    5) Information? I don't think spine chill tells me the direction the killer is. I didn't think it was that hard for killers to moonwalk at loops to mindgame (I'm a bad killer and even I can do that). Chase music does not hinder killers, fix your sound. We don't always know when we're hexed, and if we do (like for Ruin) we dunno where it is (some totems spawns are bs). SWF, sorry we have friends and you don't... sorry if some teams are coordinated and you don't even know how to tie your shoes... practice dude as I've seen skilled killers slaughter SWFs.

    6) Perk strength... don't even get me started. NoEd? You don't even need to get a hook the entire time and you can still get a few kills before the match is completely over. Pop + Thana + Dying Light? Bamboozle to end window loops? Brutal Strength so you don't lose us easily at pallets? Infectious so you can slug forever? Sloppy + Nurses + Thana? STBFL for some super faster downs? Yeah okay, have you not looked at killer perks? Sure we have some unfair perks + perk combos but um... so do you?

    7) Map Favor? lololololololplfseolf, keswo;lfkesofkwe I can't. All indoor maps = killer sided (except for a select few like Nurse unless you're SKILLED). Quite a few outdoor maps have dead zones. Quite a few maps are small enough it's easy enough to pressure. Most killers can do very good/super amazing on most maps. You just can't find anyone and are bad at finding people and get corn blind and blah blah... just admit you're not good.

    8) RNG... you're joking right? You know how often Kobe's happen? How often myself and others get out of a trapper trap within the first 5 tries? HOOK SPAWNS? You're actually kidding about that one right? You realize an update came out to make them spawn a bit closer to each other right? Sorry that other killers know how to manage their hooks.

    9) Matchmaking I'll give you that. It's messed up. I saw my friend, a rank 5, get into a match with everyone else around rank 15. But it can occasionally screw over low rank survivors as well.

    10) The biggest thing in a killer's favor is dedicated servers. I've seen people take like 5+ steps through a window and still get hit through it. I've seen people land their feet on the other side of a pallet and still get hit. I've seen the killer facing the opposite direction and still get the hit. I've seen people spamming space before the killer gets to it and still go down as the killer gets stunned at the same time.

  • Well... normally it's been Mad Grit, Agitation, Iron Grasp, Discordance cuz... yeah. Idk xD

Probably going to change it when I get back into playing killer for obvious reasons.

Depends on the killer, really. And I don't mean the character, but the player. I've had really fair players with NoED hook me next to NoED, and then NOT camp me. I managed to cleanse it as soon as I was down. They were busy chasing other players to get them down, presumably to earn more points.

Sadly, most killers I see camp and what not when noed is next to the hook because they rely on not smart survivors. Most of them bring noed because they've had one too many rounds where they lose and they don't like it or something and people don't realize the game takes skill. It just promotes lazy gameplay during the match.

Most people don't have your luck with fair noed players unfortunately.

For me its not so much the totem spots I use Small Game. Its the trust that the other 3 will cleanse as well. I run inner strenght so it forces me to totem cleanse for healing purposes beacuse who doesnt like a free heal.

Yet, not everyone runs that perk and SG is kinda bad with the huge radius when you "look in the direction" of a totem (because chances are you're not actually looking in that direction and it was on the very right hand side of your screen so you get confused as to where it is or you still just can't find that exact spot regardless). And let's face it, with the way totems are no one wants to do them. They don't contribute any progress, and it just gives the killer more time during the match to kill everyone. You pretty much have to rely on your team not being completely horrible (which rarely happens) to have enough time to find and do all totems and still be good enough to do all the gens.

But think of the types of perks killers bring as well that slow the game even further. Most rounds I've tried to do totems in, I can't because the teams need me on gens to actually make progress because they can't.

  • I would just rather totem spots and sounds be fixed. Make the sound more noticeable when you're near a hex (even dulls should get at least a small sound emanating from them) and don't hide them in such ridiculous spots. My issue is more with the totems than the perk itself, especially when a killer hooks someone right next to NoEd... They pretty much get a free kill because of it. It's also a perk that takes no skill. You can get 0 hooks all match and still probably get a 1k or 2k with it which makes you such a boosted killer and causes you to cry when you actually rank up from it because you vs people who actually have skill...

Your fix sounds too close to rancor for that to be a legit change. Might as well buff rancor a bit and rid of noed.

  • DS doesn't really need a nerf. Yes, it's a crutch perk and there's no skill in letting yourself get picked out of a locker just to use it (which usually causes you to be tunneled down anyway). Just don't go after the person who just got unhooked if you're so afraid of it.

I've never understood the whole mindset of "omg I'm so scared of DS ;-; ... so lemme just go after the person who just got unhooked and let them eat dirt (even if they don't even have DS) :D" or "I hate DS, so ima tunnel and pick them up and proceed to complain because I only had the hots for this survivor." The game isn't fun for us when we have to chew on rocks and grass because you dunno how to just leave someone alone after being unhooked or when we don't even get a chance to play because you just tunnel us out of existence (hence why most people even bring DS).

If you really dunno how to track another survivor, that's not our fault you ain't got the skill to find anyone.

If we're on the subject of nerfing crutch perks though... NoEd? Hm? Sounds fair to nerf that in exchange for a DS nerf.

  • This should be posted in the bugs forum.

  • Tryhard is more of a term when people use a specific build. So for example Forever Freddy + Mori. Or a survivor with a meta build (Adren, DS, BT, etc) + Purple Flashlight with best addons. They are "sweaty tryhards" even though they're just playing the game as intended.

Or maybe even when someone disconnects during a match and the killer isn't friendly by letting everyone live (when there is NO RULE that says they have to be).

    Just dumb people being dumb.

  • Anyone saying/thinking "Why should survivors get to not improve their skill and get rewarded for it?" You know can be said the same for killer, RIGHT? R...right? Or do killers get to get off easy, are you lowkey admitting the game is killer sided?

-Old Feddy actually took SKILL! I sometimes watch a streamer who was always able to get 4ks on any killer. Including Freddy before his rework but everyone complained, now he's new player friendly and one of the most OP killers.

-Breakable walls are there for killers who can't loop to save their lives. They're new player friendly.

-Toolboxes got nerfed to 'help with genrushing' even though 90% of the gen rushing I've seen happen because the killer doesn't know how to pressure and WITHOUT toolboxes. And people still complain about gen speed so now no one really gives a crap for toolboxes except to break like maybe 4-5 hooks in the entire match then it's gone and eventually gen speed will be so slow because of all the complaints, the killer will have had time to find all the survivors 100 times over before 2-3 gens get done.

-Speaking of hooks, there's not even a point to breaking them because they respawn after 30 seconds... not MY fault some killers dunno how to manage their hooks or juke a player who is sabo happy in most cases. Hell, shortly after the update I was in a match where someone sabo'd a hook in front of the killer (holding me), dropped me, downed them, took them away, oh hey look the hook I'm directly under is back.

-Doc got a buff (and if you call it a rework, you're crazy) because everyone thought he was weak. Now he's able to shock you from half way across the map. He's already anti loop (providing you can aim and time it right), anti stealth, no longer has to take a second to switch weapons (can just hit us immediately after shocking), and he can slow progress by making us tier 3 madness so what are we supposed to do against him?

-Oni got his flick re-added because of how many killers complained. So fair.

-Noed, as much as I understand it's a counter to adrenaline the killer also gets a perma speed buff but if we want a speed buff we have to use up another perk slot for Hope. "Do totems" I mean, what if you can't find one (some maps have suuuper hidden spots)? I think my team wants me to actually do the objective as opposed to running around for 5 minutes looking for totems. Not to mention there is no totem counter... so what if I'm running around looking for one and someone else already did one? I'm pretty much being a worthless teammate at that point.

-Gen slow perks, I mentioned gen slowing earlier but there's already enough gen slow perks that can really screw people over providing you use them properly. If you hate gen speed just use Thana, Sloppy, Pop, and Discordance/BBQ. Or something. Oh, I'm sorry, I guess getting 4 perks is too hard.

-""Dedicated"" Server Priority... let's face it, we all know these servers are either poorly made or aren't actually dedicated servers because a dedicated server is supposed to show both sides the SAME THING! However, BHVR has literally admitted on one of their streams that it's KILLER PRIORITY! Say a survivor is vaulting a window and you take 3-5 steps away... I understand windows are not impenetrable force fields but if you're far enough away, it should not hit you. But it does because the killer, on their screen, still sees you going for/doing the vault as opposed to already being through and stepping away like you see. Oh but it's ""latency"" even though most people it happens to have less than 150 ping or even less than 100. I still get unfair hits and my ping is 70-90... Oh but it must be my ""latency"" ... totally not purposely prioritizing killers...

Need I go on? I'm not saying survivors shouldn't be nerfed despite... all of what I just said... HOWEVER... don't act like killers don't deserve the same treatment. I hope you guys know balancing works like this... if you nerf something on one side then you should nerf something on the other side. NOT nerf a survivor perk or our items or whatever then proceed to buff a killer or make things easier for them.

If us survivors need to improve to be rewarded for it then killers need to do the same. Sorry if you don't wanna accept how balance works.

  • With the new hex perk coming, I'd say it'll become a bad perk to use. Not to mention there are people like myself who cleanse totems without even having IS to attempt to prevent NoEd. Then you could potentially get other people in the lobby who also have IS. Even if you have neither type of teammate like that, you still have to run around wasting time to find a totem and then waste more time to find a locker. What happens also if you can't lose the killer and continue to get tunneled, hell, both IS and SC would be useless in this situation.

As much as I like the perk, due to all these factors, I'd sooner use Deja Vu to fill a perk slot and then bring a med kit or trust my team if I need to heal. Whenever I bring it so do others usually and/or I only get to use the perk like once because I cannot find another totem.

  • Tbh, none of them really (at least all the ones I've done and I don't plan to do most of the killer ones honestly). I'm not that good at the game so it's the opposite for me, numerous challenges I thought would be super hard just weren't.

  • because 'pretty good job so far'

  • @GodDamn_Angela said:

If you are getting 5 and 15 minutes penalties this means you are DCing more than once.

Maybe stop? And then when things like this happen you will only have to sit through a 1 minute penalty. Which is what it starts as.

No, there is a bug. Even if you haven't DC'd at all since this test started and your game crashes or you got some error that pulled you out of a game because BHVR "did a pretty good job so far" you still get a DC Penalty Ban. People have been posting about it, they're getting anywhere between 3 and 25 minute bans even though they never DC but because the game fudged up, they have to pay the price.

A friend of mine DC'd purposely in a match earlier and didn't even suffer any consequences then the next match gets a match canceled and she and the friend she's playing with at that moment suffer a 3 minute penalty.

It's just broken. Like everything else.
