Thats not how hitboxes work especially with latency, they hit you on their screen, and the server accepted the hit, hits aren't rejected just because where you are on your screen differs from where the server is showing the killer, that would be completely unfair to have to hit an invisible survivor 0.25 seconds ahead of the model or more if the survivor is especially laggy
I will always argue that hitboxes should work in favor of the survivors, not the Killer. If the Killer's ping is that bad, survivors shouldn't be punished for it.

Territorial imperative is a mostly useless perk at this point. However, my fiancee has come up with the perfect buff for it. Keep in mind survivor mains she has never once played killer and only watches me play killer.
territorial should activate once a survivor finishes descending the stairs into basement. Once territorial procks not only does the killer receive a notification but the basement will be blocked for 15,25,35 seconds depending on tier. This will be blocked similar to how blood warden blocks the gates.
the difference is the killer can pass through into the basement
No, thank you. Basement rescues are difficult enough as it is.

Why? How does that affect you in any way? This argument is awful, and it gets used all the time. "How dare someone get X for a lesser price / less work than me!!" Good grief.

What about the other hundreds of thousands of players? What's to stop them from blocking players who are better than them to stomp newbies?
We have to stop using this as an excuse. First, because it's exaggerated - hundreds of thousands of players aren't going to spends hundreds of matches blocking anyone who is better than them. Will there be a small minority? Probably - but we have to stop letting the small minority of jerks prevent us from implementing good policies that can make the game and its community a better place.
ETA: it would also be very easy to datamine. For example, if there is a player who has literally blocked thousands of players (in order to only go against newbies as you say), that would be obvious data attached to their account - and thus easy to deal with from an abuse standpoint. Basically, gathered data can make it easy to determine who is and is not the problem.

If you were to balance DbD around what makes survivors DC, you'd just remove killers altogether. Not even replace the players with bots, just remove them.
That's hyperbole. There is a short list of Killer characters a large percentage of survivor players simply do not like playing against, because their power and/or gameplay is annoying and obnoxious. The Doctor is one, because his AOE power is ridiculously spammable, and its visual effects can trigger headaches and even seizures. Given that, you would think that would be a big red flag for BHVR to take steps to fix the problem.
My point stands, and I've said it before: BHVR should be looking at survivor DC stats for patterns and trends. If, for example, 50% of survivor players choose to DC against Nurse (whether it's a "leave match" or a game quit), that's a red flag that something needs to change about the Killer character. That's a large number of players who are simply electing to not play the game and re-enter the queue in order to avoid a particular character. That's a problem.
-
@Mandy said:
There is no system that blocks players from playing the game with you. That leads to all sorts of issues including players blocking people that are better than them etc - some Nurse mains would never get a match if that were a thing!
You know, there is something to take away from that - but it's not what you're saying it is. If one particular Killer, is so obnoxious no one wants to play against them? That's a problem that needs looking at. If a large number of people would rather DC (or, if it existed, block a player who always played a specific character) than play against a particular Killer (whether it's Nurse, Spirit, Doctor, etc.) - that should be a red flag that the Killer needs looking at. It's not a player issue, it's a character issue.
-
I just wish they would let us sell back (at a lesser price, of course) bloodweb items we don't want. It would ease the grind a little bit, being able to sell stuff you don't want and will never use.

Try playing Wraith against a flashlight and find out.
1. Looking away doesn't prevent lightburn.
2. Lightburn activates faster than you can decloak. (Without add ons that reduce decloaking time)
3. You can aim the flashlight anywhere on the Wraiths body to lightburn.
It's a surefire way to stun a Wraith and decloak them wherever they are on the map, totally denying them their power.
If you're lucky enough to be going against a Wraith when you decided to bring a flashlight. shrug Which is never something you can count on.

if there's for example 2 survivors left sneaking around in maps like swamp or red forest without touching gens or doing any objectives for a while it's considered those dudes are holding a game hostage so you tell us. The killer doesn't have a possibility to end the game but to find some hide&seek players that won't try in any way to end the game in maps where finding survivors like that is close to impossible when done good.
chuckle I'm in the minority - I find I have inexhaustible patience. I simply wait them out. Sooner or later, they're going to realize I'm not going to DC, I'm not going to rage, I'm simply going to wait for them to put on their big-person panties and get to work on a gen somewhere.

It is targeting trapper and hag too much, i think that's why it was removed. The trap detection made sense when there was only the trapper in the game. It started to make less and less sense as new killers were added. Finally the issue was addressed.
Except it really doesn't. Small Game, back when it had trap detection, did not give an exact location. It didn't give any sort of aura whatsoever. All it did was give the audio ping (with a cooldown) that notified you something (not even necessarily a trap/hex) was in the conal area you just looked. That's it.
Hell, right now, you can get the audio ping that there's a totem nearby, and still not be able to find the bloody thing (unless you're someone who has memorized all of the totem spawn locations, in which case that's great for you but you're a very small minority).
Sorry, I simply don't buy the "targeting Trapper / Hag too much" argument.

How is that the killers fault that their team didnt spread out gens?
It's not the Killer's fault (and I never said it was, so no clue where you got that idea). But neither does that then mean survivors should just give up and not try to still complete their objective - and it also doesn't mean that the only "correct" way for them to do that is by broadcasting their location and not getting off a gen when they know the Killer is headed their way.

Sorry, I had a mental typo, I'm on break in my meeting and I just spaced out.
I meant to type "grant it, you'd need a general location of where the trap was placed in order for you to get this benefit" I just woke up, sorry.
No problem. But my point remains - flashlights don't help you spot traps. And as they have a very limited use in terms of the number of seconds you get light, you also can't use them to consistently sweep an area. Thus the reason I don't consider them a true counter.

Because the survivors aren't doing anything in these types of situations, I understand hiding from the killer, but multiple times I'll go stand on the opposite side of the map for 5 minutes & not a single gen has been touched.
Every time I've been in a situation like this, the survivors are indeed working on gens - they simply get off the gen and hide every time the Killer comes by on patrol. If the Killer keeps kicking the gens, and is also unable to find any of the survivors, then yes, it's going to be a slow finish to EGC. But you can't expect every survivor in these situations to just decide to YOLO it.

When you shine your light near one they have an aura that becomes visible.
Grant it you have to see it first.
.... which is why I explicitly said in the first sentence of my comment "I will argue that fliashlights are not a sufficient counter to Hag, because they do not help you spot traps."

How is evading the Killer considered an outdated mechanic? What exactly would you like survivors to do, if they realize they are in a 3-gen situation?

Iron Will counters Spirit

Flashlights counter Hag and Wraith (very much Wraith, try it)
Spine Chill counters stealth
I will argue that fliashlights are not a sufficient counter to Hag, because they do not help you spot traps. Yes, if you see them, you can choose to spend seconds burning them away - but flashlights also have very limited use, which is another reason I don't consider them a true counter (to either Hag or Wraith).

Survivors hold her power hostage and if they don't heal then they are in the broken state for easy hits but if they do heal now t hey're fully healed and you have a situational power that can only damage them but not put them in broken state and you have to hit them twice now.
for a power this situational and is 100% within the survivor's control it should be buffed a bit
Noooooooo! I main Plague, and I love just being able to vomit all over everything and everyone. I don't want to down survivors with it, I just want to make them cringe in horror and disgust as they get hit with it and run away. :) (Can you tell I play Killer just for fun??)
On a more serious note - I don't much care for instant- downs in the game, full stop. I accept them when the Killer has to actually earn them via in-game actions (stalking, etc.) because there's work involved in obtaining them. But I 100% believe that no Killer should walk into a match with a one-shot in their back pocket that is available for immediate use, either because it's part of their base kit (like the chainsaws) or because of an add-on.

You do realize that this is killer design that allows a lot of killers to bypass looping and maps not having enough areas to loop that is causing this. Survivors haven't changed, killers and maps have.
This is an excellent point.
Even the slowest Killer is faster than survivors' base speed. Exhaustion perks that give a speed burst only last 3 seconds. Add in Bloodlust, add in the number of Killers who can simply ignore pallets and loops (and because of how over-tuned Wraith is right now, he counts as one of these), add in that there's currently no effective counterplay to Hag and Trapper traps (they are both far more difficult to see, and with the removal of them from Small Game, there's literally nothing in the game that gives you any chance to detect them whatsoever, so you have to just hope that somehow, your eyes spot them) - why the hell would any survivor want to loop? There's no benefit to it. The only benefit right now is to get as much distance from the Killer as possible - while at the same time trying to draw them away from where teammates are working on gens. You want to know why you're seeing so many folks running Sprint Burst? This is why.

Two survivors together are required to tango. Three or four together, and they must be doing the cha cha slide.

Killers right now don't want to play against them. So a certain point is reached where you have to de-pip in order to face a survivor team you feel you even remotely have a chance against. Congratulations! You found your depipping AFK killer!
Enjoy the free points. Here's a tip: you can get Boldness points by running around in circles, but you only get credit if you are moving. Holding still next to the killer doesn't count as chase time.
If you don't like it, you may want to have a word with your Object of Obsession using, Small PP Build, Teabagging, Flashlight Clicking SWF pals down there in the red zone that make the game unfun for the Killers.
Honestly? With the toxicity I've been experiencing in the game lately, I wish I were getting more afk Killers. Let me get a gen done, cleanse some totems, get some basement time, then run around near the Killer and get bold points before sayonara-ing out the gate.

DBD is in a rough spot right now, which is fine. I can understand the issues. I play on the first version of the ps4 so it gets wonky from time to time. No game is perfect, but I understand everyone's complaints. You're right for having them.
But, this post isn't about that. It's just about.. the aggression. Just how it feels like everyone's at each other's throats and competing on who can make who feel more like a piece of #########. Now, it isn't just dbd that's like this, a lot of games are like this too. But, I play dead by daylight the most. I love this game, I met some really awesome people and I'm happy to be in the forums. Even though it can seem like it's on fire at times. But, 2020 and 2021 one just has been awful. It's been horrible.
I did quit playing dbd for a bit to focus on drawing as a hobby, I even made a post asking what your dream cosmetic is so I can draw it and bring it to life. I haven't made progress yet because work reasons, but that's cool. I'm just happy to work and I promise to continue when I get the chance.
But, the event rolled around and I hopped back on. I did a lot of farming with survivors so they don't miss out on anything, I've been called really nice things, and then I want to unwind and play normally... and like a light switch. I'm the villain.
I don't camp, I refuse to tunnel, and on extremely rare instances do I slug. I play pretty blandly, but I'm still the biggest scum on the planet to these strangers. It's tiring.
But, I haven't given up on the community obviously.
But, does anyone else just feel really tired of other people?
I think you're running into the Event Wall - because survivors must escape with the Crown in order to collect it, people are getting extra angry when they don't escape.
For me personally, it's the toxicity that's exhausting me. The number of non-toxic matches have been dwindling, and last night I hit my limit. Every single match was just awful. The Killers' behavior was toxic every single match, and more than a few of my fellow survivors were being absolute asshats as well. Hell, I noticed I'd once again gotten tossed into a lobby with a three-person flashlight squad (fortunately, it was early enough in the countdown I was able to back out of it). I won't be playing survivor again until after rank reset at the least.
-
The problem, of course, is that new characters / DLC is one of their primary ways of getting an influx of money - and without money, there's no game. I agree, though, that we're running into problems when it comes to the ever-increasing stables of Killers and survivors. It's not just originality, and more about just how many un-used perks there are in the game - and every time we add new characters, they have to create even more perks, most of which will get no use (other than people wanting to get the Adept Steam achievement).
Perks are also getting more and more specialized - and again, that's not a good thing, because there are so few perk slots. With only four slots, every player has to maximize the value of every slot they fill (especially survivors, since they have no way of knowing what Killer they will be up against). So the more specialized perks tend to fall by the wayside - there are always outlier exceptions of course because someone has a particular fondness for a perk or because they enjoy running odd builds, but there's a reason certain perks show up in 90% of builds, whether it's on the Killer or survivor side.

I also never tunnel or face/proxy camp. After I hook someone, I move to the other side of the map. This makes it easier for folks to do rescues, etc. During this event, I've done my best to let everyone escape (the only sacrifices I've gotten were when I forgot someone was on second hook, or when for some unknown reason to me, their teammates never went for the rescue) because I know what a pain in the ass it is for survivors to get their crowns. I make great bloodpoints each match, so sacrifices have never been my primary goal anyway.

And technically they do. Survivors tried to skewed the stats before.. and this is also bhvr. we don't know if Dcs take it in place aswel,
If so then that's bs
There is no conspiracy of 40,000 survivor players to purposely skew the statistics. And if, to go way out in left field, there were a conspiracy of say, a few hundred (from some secret online group), they wouldn't be able to have enough of an effect to skew anything.

I suppose some players try to reach the higher rank tier (colour), so that they don't lose too many ranks.
(longer explanation if you don't know how rank reset works: ranks are divided in "colours". For example, red rank is from 1 to 4, purple from 5 to 8 etc etc. Once every month, you get reset at the highest rank of the previous colour based on what you were in. If you were red rank, you get reset to 5, which is the highest of purple ranks, if you were purple you get to 9 etc etc.
This means that if you are currently sitting at rank 5, it would be wise to try a bit harder to reach at least rank 4, so that you will be reset only one rank, instead of jumping down to 9)
What they said.
The end result? A jump in toxicity and sweatiness during 4 or so days before the 13th of the month and then for about 7 days after, as people who drop rank want to reclaim it.
-
And now add in the pre-rank reset sweat, and it's a horror fest in every single match.

I’m starting to wonder if tunneling and face camping is a “rank thing?” Red rank killers don’t need to do either & usually don’t for the most part. They tend to lean more so towards slugging (which IMO is fine) if the game is shifting away from them. Whenever we get rank reset and I end up with Purple or Green rank killers, I see an uptick in tunneling- especially green. This is just my experience, though. May be different for everyone else.
We must be going up against different red ranks. I would estimate that 80% of the red rank Killers I go up against engage in tunneling and camping. And it's no better on the survivor side, either. I can't count the number of times I've been in a match, aghast at the toxic behavior of a survivor, only to find out at the end they were red rank. Hell, just last night, last two survivors in the match are me and a Bill. I watched as he left me slugged on the ground - the Killer didn't hook me, just went looking for them, and they spent the entire time hiding in a locker / sneaking around the map, waiting for me to bleed out, whereupon they grabbed hatch. Yep, red rank.

The counterplay is obvious - you just relocate from your initial positions once ten seconds is up. If it became meta, survivors would do that and fake it out the same way they fake out BBQ. As it is, it's not too difficult to guess when a killer has Lethal Pursuer (they'll find their first survivor way faster than anyone else would), so calling it out and acting accordingly isn't too difficult.
That only helps the survivor/s who wasn't/weren't the one/s unlucky enough to be the ones the game chose to spawn closest to you. Which, given the level of tunneling these days? Can mean a player who gets no chance at all to actually play and enjoy the match.

Saying Lethal Pursuer gets you 9 seconds of value isn't quite right, though. Lethal Pursuer gets you an early first chase, but more importantly, it generally tells you what gen every survivor you didn't harass will be at. It's a snapshot of survivor locations for the first phase of the game; you know which gens to give up on and shouldn't plan to be a part of your 3-gen, and once you have your first down, you have a very good idea of where to go to next, either to stop a mostly completed generator for Ruin/Pop value or just to get your snowball rolling.
It can flop the same way Corrupt Intervention can flop, but it can give a very powerful early game.
Indeed - which is why I think it's a little too powerful.
