I just hope it's fixed soon. I went up against another red ranked squad earlier today, and for a majority of the match, I literally could not hit them. They used a map offering and and just toyed around with me. They knew every loop perfectly, and refused to do gens. They just wanted me to chase them around for fifteen minutes. Thankfully, they toyed around long enough for me to get a lot of hooks and one kill. And, by not doing gens, the game actually thought I was excellent at defending gens.
On a better note, I reached rank 12 for the first time. I know it's nothing for most here, but I've never been green rank before on either side, so I was pretty happy with how far I've come. The fact that I did it while facing much higher ranked players a majority of the time makes it feel a bit sweeter. I'm gonna keep playing and trying to improve, but for now, I'm taking a break.

In this state, no I won't be playing with her. I need this Scourge of the Purge challenge, and after that me and her are done.
I can understand that. I have some killers that I won't touch either. Just play whoever is more fun for you. This game can already be frustrating at times for various reasons, so hopefully the challenge doesn't annoy you too much.

i thouth they already had this were theres a hidden rank and rank 1 is just a number ....
Part of me has actually been wondering if something like this is true. Whenever I watch brand new players stream, they seem to mostly get people right around their ranks. Meanwhile if I simply win 3 games in a row, the game is like, "oh, we see you're ready for red/purple rank play".

I would say just stop playing killer the more people that do that the more effort they will put in mmr when more people complain about the long matchmaking
I think I will. Played more games after that, and they were pretty much the same as the screenshot I posted. I don't find survivor fun at all, so playing something more enjoyable would probably be smart.

If not this current update (June 15th), then the mid-season chapter following it. I believe one of the devs already teased the concept for Rank Rewards and the reset placing everyone at 20, so just be patient friend, it's coming out sooner than later.
Thank you for responding with information. I sure hope it's relatively soon. Guess I'll just weather the storm till then.

I'm on PS4 and have 100 sensitivity.
I never played her on my PS4, so I'm not sure how she feels on there. The only thing I can think of would be that maybe frame drops hurt her a bit. If you're moving while purging, it can go pretty far, though nowhere near as far as a Huntress hatchet. Dead hard always sucks, but if you suspect one is incoming, then fully charge the purge before launching. This will allow you to shoot longer than the i-frames and hit them on the tail end of the purge. This won't catch everyone of course, but can definitely come in clutch. I had the issue of not charging enough at first too and cancelling my power. This comes down to timing memory, I feel. I use the quicker charge addon a lot, and whenever I take it off I find that I have to adjust my timing or I run into the same issue as you.
I think you may just need to get used to her a bit more and find which addons work for your playstyle. She definitely seems to me to be one of those killers whose addons can be adapted to a variety of different game plans. I do hope you keep playing her, though. There aren't very many Plague players out there, and she's a ton of fun once you get comfortable with her.

You think I'm making this up? What about how PC players can move their vomit back and forth 3 times in a single go? You would never get that on a joystick even at the highest sensitivity.
I can do this on PS5. Which console are you playing on? I'm sure you're telling the truth, so I'm not calling you out. Just trying to figure out why you have trouble doing it. I also play on a high sensitivity which makes it easier.
-
It's a real issue. There obviously aren't enough killers that play at higher ranks. New people try killer, get completely mismatched every other game, then they get sick of it and stop playing or they switch to survivor which makes it even harder to find even matches for new killer players.
Lots of people say suck it up and take it as a learning experience. But, a lot of people don't see this particular game as some major investment. They want to play casually and have some fun. Getting rolled by much higher skilled players isn't fun for most especially when they toy with you and do everything to rub the loss in your face.
If you play survivor and get smoked, you can laugh it off with your friends. Get smoked as killer, and you're alone being made fun of. I suck it up because I have no friends and I'm used to people making fun of me.
Try not to let it get to you too much, and if it does you can play more survivor. My one buddy that comes over occasionally refuses to play killer like it's the plague (no pun intended).
-
This happens all the time for me as well. I do sometimes get an even match, but usually mismatched as far as ranks go. I've kind of just gotten used to it. The lack of high rank killers, I feel, really hurts the matchmaking. I'm hoping MMR fixes this, but it probably won't because the issue is that killers are a scarcity in general.
-
Just played solo survivor, and this is what they handed the poor killer.

@GeneralV said:
Yeah, matchmaking has been kinda weird. And honestly, no one is in a good mood today.
I am getting tunneled...
Being camped/tunneled sucks. It's one reason I don't play survivor very often anymore. Besides me being bad and solo, it's really unfun to be tunneled right out of the game.

But can't lose the killer when I run through the corn.

This is me! Killers seem to have no trouble tracking me in the corn. That's why I figured there must be some trick. Guess I'll have to whip out my actual headset.

Happy yet sad to see that I'm among company with my inability to consistently chase through corn lol. I've seen some great tips to try out for next time though, so thank you all for your input. One day I'll master the corn!

Use Charlotte? Who is a basic M1 Killer with no Power which can be looped for 5 gens.
Seems like a great idea.
This was my thinking lol. That logic is so flawed.

I play this, MK11, and SFV the most right now, and this is the game where I'm most likely to get hate mail. It's about tied with MK11 for teabags (if you consider that toxic). But, as far as graphic hate messages, this game is the top for me.
-
Yeah, this game is really bad with the toxicity. I once shut off my messages on PS because some survivors would spam the inbox after a game (or during if they died early), so they resorted to trying to add me as a friend just to get through lol. I've seen streamers regularly harassed in their chats after games which is crazy.
I just have fun with it now. They're going to be toxic anyway, so I'll proxy camp, tunnel, use noed, whatever. I'm not going to play by a made-up rulebook just to get teabagged and messaged "lol get good". I now view hate mail and other toxic behavior as a fun part of the game and revel in it.

Yeah I totally agree with you, there tends to be way more female characters and I don't think of it too much but I do wish they would make more male characters. It's probably because female cosmetics sell a lot, just today they released a rockabilly collection of all females, and there's also more female survivors when I play in my experience. Out of topic but I wish they did 80s cosmetics, I believe they did 80s skins in 2017 but they are outdated asf.
I think you nailed it. Female survivors most likely contribute to more cosmetic sales. Female gamers love to play female characters because they typically relate to them more, and male players love to play female characters because they find them attractive. This tends to be true for most games where your character choice doesn't affect your ability to play the game.

Please stop DCing when a survivor runs you for 3 generators. You willingly chased them for that time period.
I play both survivor and killer, and my buddy pretty much only plays survivor when ever he's over, and he binges the game for like 10hrs straight because he doesn't have it at home.
I think I've seen maybe one killer dc in all that time. If they want to give up, they will usually go afk, letting us finish the gens and farm chase points if you can find them and then leave. On the other hand, I get survivor dc's all the time, and I'm trash at killer. It's usually the first down as well. I don't get why they don't at least wait the 10secs to sacrifice themselves on hook or something. They just peace out as soon as soon as they go down. It can't be due to tunneling or camping because it's first down. I usually message and ask them why they left, but I've never gotten a response.

One idea I've had which I didn't extensively test yet, if you're against someone who is particularly obnoxious and obviously trying to get your attention, it can be quite funny to just literally ignore them (unless they are in range of a free hit, always take a free hit).
Sometimes they will just start trying harder to get your attention, at the expense of them actually doing gens or anything to progress the game.
Unless they are actually good players, if they don't immediately start doing gens or other productive things, you can assume they might be a decent player so maybe tunnellng them in that area was not particularly a good idea anyway.
I definitely remember particularly toxic matches and squads around green and yellow ranks, perhaps they were depippers or something bullying new killers. Unfortunately when you get to play mostly red rank players, survivors tend to play reasonably for the most part (genuinely haven't seen a mid match teabag for a few games now)
That's an awesome idea about ignoring them lol. Just pretend they're not even in the match. I'm going to try that for sure.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
If they teabagged you, they probably wanted your attention. And they got it, no need to feel sorry for that. Personally, I would say you should ignore teabagging, because in the end, you can have the most damage from tunneling a Survivor, if they are actually good.
But often enough, they are not, and you get them quickly. They watch some Youtube-Videos of some Survivor Main and do what they do, but skip the step of getting good at the game before getting cocky.
You should at least not be tunneling if the Survivor is really good at the game, because that just hurts you.
I get what you're saying. I've made the mistake of chasing teabaggers before, and paid for it with tons of gens popping. This is why I try to ignore it, and usually succeed at it. I fell for it this time, and luckily caught the person. I lost gens in the process, but I didn't even care at that point. It's just something I'll have to work harder at ignoring.

He's okay, in the end what makes him bad is that they have a lot of weird mechanics, like losing most of his power gauge with when hitting with a basic attack, and other awkward things. But you have to understand, he is one of a very small amount of killers that has a good early game, which is amazing. It's actually pretty easy to compare him with Myers.
Would you rather: a killer that has to lose a gen to become a normal killer, lose another gen or two to actually get a power
Or: a killer who has everyone injured right off the bat, effectively making him t3 myers in the first few minutes of a match
People also often hide while myers is in t3, but you can't really hide from a legion.
I'd say he's a low B or high C. That being said, he could use a rework since his power is pretty boring and poorly designed
I like the contrast you made between the two. I'm trying Myers for the first time here in a bit, and I'm already kind of nervous. One of the things I like about playing Legion is that after one hit, I know where everyone is and can beeline right for them. I don't know how I'll fare with a really slow starting Myers.

You'll find a similar experience with Plague as well if you've tried her.
I was actually considering purchasing her just for Corrupt. Don't know if it's worth 7.99 for just a perk, though, even if it's a really good one.

@Blueberry said:
He's one of, if not the worst killers in the game against actually decent survivors.
Ironically his kit makes him a noob stomper though for the inexperienced.
I was thinking this may be the case. I've played other games that have characters like this. They're not very good against experienced players, but the character has a certain niche that makes it very difficult for newer players to contest. Some fighting game characters come to mind that are like this.

Legion or Ghostface in my opinion.
These two are definitely high on my list. Being able to track and injure survivors constantly with Legion sounds like a lot of fun. I have a question, though. Is it difficult to aim his hits while dashing? The problem I have with Oni is that the camera goes crazy while trying to do his dash one hit down, and I haven't gotten used to it yet. I'm really good with controlling the dash itself, I just can't hit people consistently.
-
Thank you all for your input and suggestions. I've been playing more Clown lately, and now that I've gotten much better control over his bottles, I'm having a good amount of fun with him. His one on one chase kind of style fits me really well. I'll probably purchase the Myers dlc and one other to try out until there's another sale on the dlc.
-
This is extremely common for new killers apparently. I just switched to survivor, and then stopped playing. Survivor is much better with matchmaking, though. You can chill and relax while playing.
-
Don't DC. Just go to the basement and have chill out like I do. Or hit up a corner of the map, and observe the scenery. I do this whenever the game matches my rank 16 self with a squad of red and green ranks.
-
I'm interested in Oni as well. But, why is he rarely ever brought up when people speak of high mobility killers? You constantly hear of Billy, Nurse, and Spirit, but Oni seems like he has great mobility too. Am I missing something?

What's wrong with Oni? He looks super fun. I don't have him yet, though.

I love to know of any Oni mains as well. I've wanted to main him from the jump, but have been grinding for a few good teachables so I won't have as rough a time learning him

Killer can be fun, however if you learn both roles to a high skill level you soon learn that survivor is easier. i play both sides and am rank 1 for both but when you go against a team that always sit on gens and just do gens there isnt much a killer can do, iv had games where i down survivors within 20seconds every chase and still lose because of how fast gens went and then iv had survivor games with the exact same result, my last game against a rank 1 doctor got 3hooks before all the gens got done? at high skill when a full team does their objective then like i said its pretty much GG even more so with meta perks
Survivor is 100% percent easier for me at the moment. I just wish as killer I could actually play with people around my rank. A rank 16 killer playing clown means those red and purple survivors constantly matched against me can just chill and still win lol.
-
Scorpions on Twitch mains Pig and is really good with her. Otsdarva plays every killer in the game at a really high level, but he does seem to love Trapper and Legion a bit more than most. He's my favorite for learning killer as he plays with all kinds of killers, perks and add-ons while still wrecking people in most of his games.
-
I don't really know if survivor is easier because matchmaking makes it hard for me to make a comparison. When I play solo survivor, I get killers closer to my rank, but when I play killer, I get entire squads 10 ranks ahead of me. So, at the moment, trying to learn killer as a new player is super stressful compared to survivor.
If matchmaking was better, I think killer would be really fun.
-
I feel you, man. As a rank 16 killer, playing against reds and purples constantly definitely ruins the fun.
-
I've noticed the extreme toxicity as well. I've played a lot of mortal Kombat 11, and that is just as bad if not worse, but I understand that more since it's a 1v1 fighting game.
I think the balance of the game is partly the reason here. It's 4v1 with completely opposite roles, so balance must be harder to achieve compared to other multiplayer games.
Off topic: The Pokemon community is overwhelmingly friendly despite lots of children making up the player base lol
-
Apparently this is how the matchmaking works in this game. I'm only rank 16 with about four or so hours played as killer, and I get matched against red and purple rank survivors. I'll just keep trying to get better, though it can be frustrating.
-
@Dreamnomad said:
I would personally save up 9000 and buy a killer though. If you get hag then you get ruin, third seal and devour hope. Any one of those perks can take over a game if it survives. Plus you get a good killer. If you get clown then you get pgtw, coulrophobia, and bamboozle. Pop and bamboozle are both solid perks. Good luck whatever you go with and welcome to the forums.
I bought Leatherface and Clown for Pop and BBQ. The bloodrush has been a huge help for the teachables.
-
@Cheers said:
What killer do you play?
I've been playing Leatherface and Clown. I'm only rank 16 (which doesn't seem to matter since I constantly get into lobbies with red and purple ranks). I haven't chosen a main yet. I grinded Leatherface for BBQ and currently grinding Clown for Pop. I do find Clown really fun, though, so I may stick with him.
