Y'know, I've been in the pro-FNaF camp for a while, but at this point I'm pro-FNaF less because I think Springtrap would be neat, and more because I just want it to be over and everyone shut up about it.
I'm absolutely sick of the constant arguing threads every couple months, from both those who hail FNaF's arrival at the drop of a hat (this teaser does look promising, though), and the naysayers who just can't let some people hope for the license they want to hope for.
Can we all please just take a breath, acknowledge FNaF is a possibility, regardless how big or small, let the 6th Anniversary play out and what happens happens.

Confirmed. I run Could-distressing-sloppy for fun and boons just still feel like normal healing. Without boons it was a fun build.
So are you saying that build virtually negated the speed buff, at least?

Given that Jeeper's Creepers is banned from ever joining DbD because of the actions of the director its not unreasnonable for FNAF to be banned for similar reasons.
Aka the creators actions could make any popularity irrelevant for them joining.
They're both horrible, but I don't think it's fair to compare Cawthon's negligent homophobia with Salva's very active and intentional pedophilia.

HP is, bizarrely, more separable from its author than FNaF is from its original creator. It also had decades of inertia before Rowling managed to antagonise many of the people that grew up reading it (and some major death of the author stuff going on), not to mention the sheer scale of it.
FNaF is small potatoes in comparison.
Yeah, I get your point. Scott was far more engaged with his community than Rowling probably ever was. Just look at the Fazbear Fanverse Initiative. It only made all this drama so much worse. I wonder if that perception will change once Scott officially announces his successor for the franchise.

Because including it inherently makes a political statement. The best thing to do is not touch it with a 10' barge pole.
People and companies don't really seem to see still enjoying and making new Harry Potter as a political statement. Isn't a new Fantastic Beasts coming out soon?
-
My personal position on Scott is that it is extremely disappointing and a betrayal of his fan base's trust, but even then the backlash he received was excessive (death threats, for god's sake!) and at least he tries to do good in other ways.
Putting all that aside though, I don't get why everyone on here is so elitist about FNaF. BHVR has stated multiple times that it prides itself on the idea that DbD is a Horror Hall of Fame, so why refuse one of the most prolific indie horror titles in recent memory, one that effectively kick-started its own sub genre? The very fact that Stranger Things made it in and even became one of the most beloved Chapters in the entire game, despite having a younger target audience than nearly every other license and not even being explicitly horror to me renders most arguments about FNaF and Springtrap in particular not fitting in with the rest of the cast invalid.
And to the argument that the series is nothing but cheap jumpscares, the Hag exists.

It almost purely depends on either if he's playing with Solos or SWF, even if it's just two or three. Having the ability to co-ordinate who is collecting the box and when can really scuttle his ability to provide that soft pressure. His chains are really hit or miss, even if you do land them. I agree with a high B, but only really against Solos.

Most maps are big enough that you likely aren't slowing down their healing at all.
The only "meaningful" way to counter CoH is running hexes and thrill to make booning take long enough that it isn't worth it. And even then that's not a great counter, because now all your perks are hexes.
Yeah, the Terror Radius does really limit its potential, perhaps if combined with Distressing and Doctor's Calm add-ons it could work, especially on say, Midwich or the Abattoir but on something like Mother's Dwelling or Eyrie of Crows I agree it would be hard to get consistent value out of it, even with the augments.
I'd say Thrill could do the job by itself, Maybe with Undying for insurance. Then leave the other two slots for slowdown or info.
-
The actual reason why is that the original Badham Preschool (now Badham 1) was not adequately randomised. The streets and buildings were in the same position every time, unlike Haddonfield, which went against the game's whole concept at the time of the maps never being the exact same every match.
Because the way the map was built didn't allow for that kind of customization, they resolved it by creating the other four versions, then reducing the likelihood of selection for all five maps so that, when combined, you were as likely to go to Springwood as any other single map realm. It's just bad luck on your part.
-
Here's another idea, return fog to The Fog. it is ridiculous how far and how clearly you can see, literally on my last match as Nemesis I ran Lethal Persuer, turned a corner and saw one of the Survivors clear as day on the other side of the map, making the perk entirely redundant.
Thicken the fog a little more and maybe Survivors won't be able to see your every move.
-
There is nothing in the perks description that says it marks the totems it reveals on an equipped map. If it did, it would state so, like it does for Detective's Hunch.

It's a problem with social anxiety, not with the game.
You have to be okay with losing.

I still don't think it's the game, but more the social environment it creates, like your analogy.
It's about feeling judged and socially pressured into playing, having fun, in a certain way for other people.
I disagree, I play tons of other PvP and multiplayer titles: Overwatch, GTA Online, Civilization VI (with friends, but still); but losing or the pressure of having to perform well for your teammates/opponents doesn't get to me nearly as much as playing Killer does. Although I do agree the "social environment" of this game definitely has a role to play here.
-
Yeah, that's why I'm only playing Custom Games with friends for the time being. Much more chill environment.

I agree - these Hex totems should have a different color glow to them so survivors don't waste their time trying to cleanse it AND waste the devs time by filing bug reports.
Best way to do it is just have the Entity block it like anything else you can't interact with in that moment. Just take the spikes that appear on windows and the exit, and apply it in front of a Plaything totem. Easy-peasy and the message is clear.

I see they still don't have the rights to Jamie Lee Curtis's likeness. Hair looks infinitely better but I'll be honest, I prefer her old face.
Now we just have to wait and see if Quentin has stopped looking like a sickly old man.
-
I just recently faced a fresh, Rank 20 Trapper, while I'm at Rank 7. I felt so guilty when I saw the post match scoreboard...
-
Well, apparently not anything. I tried Vigo's Journal again, and it failed again. I counted.

@Hermit said:
I used Blight with Vigo's Journal for this challenge, that add-on is just so much fun :D
And yes, lethal rush counts as "hitting with your weapon".
Must've been patched to just basic attacks or something. I literally just did Vigo's Journal Blight and failed to earn it. I know I Lethal Rushed at least 3 because I earned the Speed Kills achievement mid-match.
-
I really do hope they add new maps for Blight, Twins and Trickster at some point. Maybe as a finale to the Realm Beyond project.
My personal hopes are for the Cultists' gothic Monastery where Talbot studied for the Blight's map, and a rotting, plague riddled, feudal village somewhat similar in layout to Dead Dawg for the Twins. Trickster's a little trickier though. I originally thought an auditorium where he would've performed, but that'd be so open it'll be a cake walk for a ranged killer and hell for anyone else. Maybe the charred remains of the studio where NO-SPIN died?

I think what it means is you don't get extra points if someone's repairing with you. You just accumulate points as though you were by yourself.

Don’t have an F tier but probably should’ve put one for Demo. His ultra rares make no sense I can’t really put Nurse’s in with his.
At least his Ultra Rares don't directly nerf his power... I can understand how the Liprose Lichen can be considered nonsensical. First the injured person has to be unlucky enough to be in your path mid teleport, then, without being able to see the environment, you'd have to memorize their location and head there, at which point they've probably already healed or moved on.
Granted I don't know the precise numbers for the Red Moss, but increasing the duration of any Undetectable effect is almost always useful, and could possibly help in hiding the portal. And in a game that constantly requires you to pressure almost every portion of the map at once, constant available teleportation is great as well.
-
How is Nurse not F tier? She's the only one whose Ultra Rares I actively avoid unless I decide to make an ultimately futile attempt at From the Void She Kills. Both of them seem straight up detrimental to her kit. Especially the one that removes wall phasing. If you start in a multi leveled map (Haddonfield, Midwich, Gideon), you're stuffed.
-
I've just managed to get it done after about 5 attempts. But only because Huntress was either having hitbox trouble, or understood what was going on and let me heal Kate, then allowed me ample time to Unbreakable while she and Elodie were mucking around over my body.
That entire passage of play was frankly strange. As if every one understood what was going on and every thing became like a farming game for about 30 seconds. After I got back up things went back to your typical game.
-
You encountered three Twins in a single day!? Dude... I haven't seen ONE. Ever.
-
That's a pretty good sketch! I think it'd especially unnerving seeing this hung up in a kid's bedroom/playroom or possibly a setpiece on the walls of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza if the devs make it a map.
-
Rapidly went from must run to never run. I never understood how BHVR thought the original was good enough to release. Currently, the benefit of this perk, despite being really good, is not remotely worth it.
The requirement is too high, and if you even manage to pull it off, you're stuck in tight spot by either staying close to the Killer until they spot you, wasting your time and relieving gen pressure for the Killer, or running away, having the Killer see your aura indefinitely and likely screwing you and perhaps some of your teammates in the process.
It definitely needs changes. My favourite in this thread being....

The negative effect should be removed. Maybe it should also be changed to 2 protection hits, but make it give the endurance effect for a minute after taking the second hit instead of somewhere down the line taking 3 hits to down someone.
-
I just encountered the same thing. I'm a little sore about it, because it allowed a hiding Jake to sneak away and escape while I was looking around the hook. Shortly after I realized I was listening to an already dead Dwight, the gates were open and I'd lost a nice 4k.

I like fnaf im just saying dbd n fnaf are completely different universes and would ruin fnafs time line
It wouldn't be canon to the franchise, just like how Leatherface being taken isn't canon to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series because he appears in sequels despite the fact he's taken by the Entity immediately after the first film.

I thought that game was for kids?
Ummm, sure. A game series about a serial killer brutally murdering several children and the vengeful spirits of those children in turn brutally murdering security workers... I would agree that the fact the story centres around a parody of Chuck E. Cheese and that most of the terror comes from jumpscares may make it seem kiddy, I think it's just that after incredibly popular Youtubers played it and introduced it to a wider audience, including their younger fans they gave it the stigma of a series meant for kids. But whatever, none of that's important, all that would matter for FNaF to come to DbD is that BHVR and Scott Cawthon could come to an agreement on licensing and BHVR can find a way to implement a character into the game. FNaF at its core is still a horror game regardless of its reputation. So it has a chance, no matter how slim.
-
I could see Springtrap as a Killer, As for what his Power and Perks would be I have absolutely no clue. He'd probably be a standalone Killer because from what I've seen there's no real opportunity for a matching Survivor.
I would be curious to see what BHVR could do with a Pizzeria map, Although from what I hear indoor maps are already unpopular and every standalone doesn't have a map. I admit it would be strange and almost unfitting to see Springtrap/Freddy/whoever stand alongside Myers and the other Freddy, but it's another horror franchise to add to the list and they'd be the first licensed video game character since Bill.
I'm mixed, to be honest. It'd fascinating to see how they'd implement it, But any Fazbear character would just look like a black sheep, in my opinion.

Ok hear me out on this but what if there was a perk that would increase survivor speed by 50% when injured. It can only happen once. So if you heal then get injured again no speed boost. What you guys think?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're describing perma-Sprint Burst until healed. No one wants a literally uncatchable survivor...

I"ve been trying for two days, and I STILL cannot get Level III's Trapper Challenge. I can't even get 5 Traps and Level IV expects 6 in ONE GAME?
Honestly, Challenges like Hungry Jaws is more reliant on how your opponent/s perform than anything you can do. The Fight Back challenge in Level IV will rely on your Killer being tunnel visioned and dumb enough to walk into a pallet 4 times in one game. It say nothing about you, just that your Killer doesn't know how to avoid pallets.
Honestly, the further into the Archives I get, the more infuriating it gets. And the challenges people are taking can sometimes directly impede gameplay. Killers trying to carry Survivors all across the map to get to the Basement, I once deliberately did not touch a single gen so I could follow the Killer around and get blind saves.
Some of the challenges are perfectly fine, but others are just frustrating, or force players to go out of their way and play abnormally to get basement hooks, or completely abandon allies to avoid a hook, this is especially common for Single Trial Challenges, and if I recall correctly, isn't a new Tome coming out immediately after this one expires? If so, this behaviour is going to become par for the course, and I don't want to see that.
