The problem with newer perks having soo many conditions is that there's barely any room left for unique ones. What I mean by that is that you can only do a healing buff perk so many times.
What the game needs right now in my opinion ofc is that it expands on the gameplay. I know the playstyle has been pretty solid since the game first came out, but we need some new objectives or forms of interacting with survivors, killers or map in general.
I'm saying this as just a fan and I know it's not a simple task. But sooner or later there'll be no mechanics to build upon. Or there will be but super limited like the perks you mentioned. One game, that yes isn't connected at all to DbD, is League of Legends. I'm writing it down as an example because the game still has the same gameplay formula and goal since it was released, BUT it really expanded on the gameplay in a lot of ways throughout the years. Adding more depth and skill exploration.

Candyman is lame, Chucky is lame and wouldn't do anything original, Jason wouldn't do anything original, The Thing doesn't fit, Alien and Predator won't happen, IT doesn't fit, The Shining doesn't even SLIGHTLY fit it's just Jack Nicholson with an axe how is that even a little bit interesting, and who the hell is Tallman?
Or maybe it's just you who's lame and has 0 spark of creativity. All of those icons could fit and they could have some cool and unique powers.
-
Damn what's these sequel ideas? Same thing as it was for League of Legends.
While DbD doesn't have the fanciest graphics it still looks good in my opinion. Not only that, but it's optimizable so that even people on older computers can play it.

Alien
The Xenomorph, Everyone want it in this game but... The "power" of this creature seems to rely on the vent system... Or making a vent system in an open map like coldwind or like... 90% of the map from this game seems... Not possible? And if he create is own vent... It's more like Demopuppy..
Disagree.
You can have crawling on walls / ceilings, facehuggers, jumping, spewing acid ...
If you think vents are the only thing going for Xeno then your creativity must be super low.

It's already been confirmed to be Alien
Has it tho? We failed to get any teasers yesterday when it was Alien day.
Alien is my most wanted license in this game but I kinda lost hope. If we do get it then I'll be surprised they missed such a good opportunity for promotion.
I really hope the anniversary is something big. I like the Knight (Apart from balancing issues) but damn the Skull Merchant is disappointing. So I hope they have high standards for the next killer.
-
Demo, Nemesis and Oni.
Their sound designs are just amazing and carry the whole tension. Demo's chase music, Oni's screams that are heard across the map, Nemesis' grunts.
-
Yes and no.
Dredge for example, while having another teleport power, also has that darkness effect which in my opinion is super unique and cool. (Ofc some people call it annoying)
Pinhead also has one teleport option but also a unique ability with chains that you can control. I think that's super fun.
But overall, yes, a lot of killers just seem to have different combinations thrown together. I think it has to do with how little mechanics there are in DbD. Each year I expect them to refresh the game a bit more, something like League does with seasons, so they could break the current patterns. But these changes would have to be quite different. Like something to do with terrain, objectives etc. Maybe give the players another goal? Then from that they could create more powers.
However as for the current situation, I would love to see a killer that can crawl along the walls, ceiling, trees (My dream Xeno chapter) or a killer that can fly. For the later I know people are saying the killer would be hindered indoors, but maybe they could get a speed boost or something the lower they are. Idk just brainstorming.
I think there's a lot of options but BHVR needs to get out of their comfort zone.
-
Amnesia.
I know it's well known and one of the most iconic horror games out there, but I feel like it's not talked about that much these days, especially compared to the other horror games. Which is exactly why I want it. It really shook up the horror genre in gaming and I think it deserves the spot.
Also we could get a cool castle / dungeon map.
-
I'm sorry for this silly question buuut ...
If I already have some perks on survivors (That originally belong to another one), I still get to keep them after the update? Or will they be gone?
-
Why?
It would make the whole situation even more sad. Like yea let's make a new killer but with an already existing kit.
It would be boring and a waste of a new killer. Plus it would be like a salt to the wound for everyone who likes Stranger Things or just Demo.
-
@TheGhostofZgor said:
I've heard a theory that a Stranger Things game is coming which is why Netflix decided not to renegotiate their deal. With the Evil Dead game coming next year, I hope this isn't going to happen to Ash...
Which freaking sucks because the games could still serve as a gateway to one another, promoting them ...

@fogdonkey said:
EVERYBODY CALM DOWN!
They will add an original killer and survivors with the same abilities and perks. Demogorgon, Nancy and Steve will be just special legacy skins for the new original killer and survivors.
The map will exist as a recolor. So the layout will be the same, only the colors and name will change, so that it is not "officially" Hawkins.
I doubt they will and even if they do it will just feel freaking sad.
Imagine Demo being converted into another killer and then just feeling like a skin of that new killer.
And just the idea of making a killer with the same kit is boring. And who knows ... If Stranger Things decides to come back one day you just have 2 killers that are completely the same and not unique.
-
I would definitely love more game modes, even if just some fun event only ones.
However I also think we should get some new mechanics in DbD. Sure, having the gens as a main task is cool, but I'm waiting for the game to be shaken up a bit by adding more objectives.
-
I'm so up for this!
I mean people also want the Scooby gang so why not some Scary Movie characters?
-
@WexlerWendigo said:
Not at all. They picked the most boring option for killer, and made him the least interesting killer in the game to play against. Then, they added Jill, who is such an uninspired pick. Lastly, they added a map which looks great, but is awful to play on for both sides. One of the worst dlcs ever for sure, and I’d say even worse than a binding of kin and all kill.
Can I ask why you think Nemesis is the most boring option? Because when people usually compare Nemesis with Mr. X I always think that X is even more boring. They'd have even less to work with.
However ye, aside from AI zombies, they kinda missed the mark with Nemesis for me. They could bring some different mechanics but he just feels like a mish mash of older killers. (And I know this sounds crazy ... But why not the rocket launcher? Limited use but could be fun)
-
Just watched the first movie and while I liked it, I was surprised that the Cenobites didn't have a lot of screen time. I think Pinhead looks cool, but the only thing that really stood out to me are the chains. Maybe hitting survivors with them can apply debuffs? Like 1 - 4 chains slightly slowdown the survivor, while the next one can stun them, root them in place?
Also, imagine if we actually get Julia as a killer lol. Just doing the killing to save her lover from Cenobites.
(I know we won't cuz that would be a real ######### and let down moment, but it sounds funny)

Hellraiser is the original "Pain is pleasure" franchise. The Cennobites inflict pain on themselves and each other and get pleasure from it. They almost seem to worship pain. Pinhead is one of them.
Thank you! That sounds interesting and creepy. Wonder how it would translate into DbD.
-
Never watched Hellraiser so can someone tell me what Pinhead does? Or what his powers are?
I'm open for any killer at this point, but Pinhead does look pretty cool.

sweetheart. look me in the eyes and tell me you know what 'making a post to say farewell to the good people of a community' means and why people might do that.
It means you have a pretty fragile ego. Leaving because of the possibility of a single franchise being added.

Edit:
Thank fridge, it might be hellraiser
(Also, thanks to everyone who contacted me on twitter, discord and tumblr, there's more good in this community than anticipated ;_; )
What the heck is the point of this?
You'd leave a game you played and enjoyed because a killer from a franchise you don't like would join?
And making posts like this just because of it? No need to announce your leave. Just go lol.

Love the summer camp idea. Just like Jason.
Can you imagine Wraith on a Jungle Map? Predator vibes.
I can definitely imagine Wraith on there.
Even better tho? Predator as a killer released along side the map. ;)
-
Space station (An indoor map but completely different in scale. Only a few small corridors, but mostly big rooms with glass on the side where you can see outside)
Summer camp (Next to a lake, with different gravel paths around the forest)
Jungle map

Mate, your name is DrStone. That would scare most people. People are entitled to their opinions, and that's mine. It's fair, it has foundation, but ultimately (and most incremental of all), it's my own.
You can have an opinion without being condescending and looking down on others.

I honestly don't blame them. I didn't mind All-Kill, but K-Pop is of the same calibre as anime: quite overhyped and almost disgusting in essence, given its track record for that 'fanboy' attitude and the flamboyant nature of the music. I don't particularly fancy over-the-top, dramatised pop, so I can see where problems arise.
Saying K-pop or anime is "disgusting" because of the fanboys is just wrong.
I get it if the style isn't your tea, but at least say it's the fandom that's problematic. I don't listen to K-pop but this is how I see things. I don't mind the genre itself.
-
The Binding of Kin.
Maybe I just hyped myself up to a totally different killer, but The Twins feel so boring to me. There also wasn't a new map and yeah I know. People will say why do you want more maps when we get stuff like RPD, but I think the chapter would be much more exciting for me if The Twins came with a cool old village map or something.
The only good think from the chapter is Elodie. She's badass.

Do people not have better things to do than to keep up guessing killers, it's the exact same cycle, we get excited, start guessing, get a killer, call it op or broken, devs ignore it, make a new one and the cycle begins again
It's fun and it brings hype.
Ofc releases don't define the game, I enjoy it regardless in-between the chapters, buuut whether it's DbD I play or any other game like League, bringing in new characters is always exciting.
Whether the killer lives up to the hype when released is a whole other story tho.
-
Idk whethere I love or hate BHVR's teasers lol.
On one hand they're always so convoluted and they blue ball you hard. People always get these expectations and then it turns out it's something completely else. But on the other hand it's cool beause they don't reveal anything to early.

Man I just want some unique powers ...
Nemesis is really fun to play against, but I still wanted him to have a rocket launcher. Or being able to throw survivors with the tentacles (Like in the trailer). Like come on. Something new.
-
I know everyone likes to joke about him but Candyman.
The timing is perfect (Well almost) with the upcoming release of the movie.
If it's anything else I'm going to be really surprised. In a good way ofc.
People have been throwing some good arguments why it could be Pennywise.
Also I can't remember any license that would come without a killer. Well I guess it can since it happened with Leatherface. But Alien for example. Xeno and Ripley. Amazing pairing so idk why you'd release without a survivor.

I think a lot of us look back with nostalgia, I was actually having this discussion with friends last night and we were going through our old screenshots etc of when we first started playing 5 years ago. A lot has changed, but I'm the type that loves change and appreciate that a live game can change regularly and I am sure it will change again in the future.
I wasn't playing DbD when it first came out, but one thing I always wondered is why were lighting and fog changed?
I checked some old videos and having the map all foggy looks super cool.

Where did I trash anyone? Where did I push down anyone?
Regarding the person I was replying to, I made a comment that put aside my dislike of FNAF, its supposed popularity within the DbD community, and everything else, yet I was still accused of "shutting down others" or whatever.
IMO, it seems like you just want everyone to immediately agree with your statements and support your ideas, no matter what their true opinions are.
My bad there tbh. I was speaking generally and I wasn't trying to say you specifically are thrashing anyone. Bad wording.
But reading through these threads you see a lot of other people actually doing it.
And no one wants others to immediately agree with them. I'm not a huge FNAF fan. I played one game. But from these discussions I see FNAF fans or people who want FNAF being a lot more respectful. That's all.

Full disclosure: I didn't read that full wall of text, just the first two sentences.
People are sharing their opinions, same as you and everyone else. Most people don't want FNAF, it's that simple. Having that opinion and sharing it is not being "closed-minded". I told you already that "open-minded" doesn't mean you automatically accept anything someone else tells you.
The thing is you and plenty of other people keep resorting to "we are just sharing our opinions, same as you and everyone else", but then keep pushing other people down for their way of thinking.
No one is saying you have to agree that FNAF should come to the game, but not trashing others for wanting it would be nice.

@ciara1999 said:
People seem to shut down anything they don't want in DBD. This community is so closed minded it's unreal. I don't like some chapters, however I can see how others like those chapters and see how they work. I've had insults thrown at me for simply saying if others worked why can't fnaf. Just because you can't possibly see something and you don't like the chapter idea, it doesn't give anyone the right to start being quite frankly rude and dismissive of the idea. Some of the people arguing that fnaf wouldn't fit, are the same people that posted about trickster and how others needed to quote "get over it" if adding a fnaf chapter in this game is what kills this game, then it speaks of the community and not the chapter itself. I'd rather we receive originals. I really want their to be more folklore in the game, vampires and werewolves, man. I even think mothman would be a good idea. It might come across like I'm defending fnaf, which I partially am, but for the most part the only reasons I've seen is that kids flock around Fnaf, which in all honesty. Kids should not be playing or watching fnaf at all. I certainly wouldn't be letting my child watch that #########. The other reason I was given is that there is no possibility of a power or perks, which is just closed minded to say, many have made concepts and many have had ideas without posting about it. Anyway, I'd rather we have a licence that centres around folklore, however I would be happy if they added fnaf. I would be unhappy like others if they made springtrap like the other killers or did a lazy job of the springtrap chapter. The difficulty with a fnaf chapter, would be the Devs and team would have to put a lot of work into making fnaf unique. Trickster was a let down imo. They were lazy and gave him throwing knives, when they could of made a power music based or sound based.
This!
I get that people might not like a certain franchise, but why be rude to others and wish them not to be happy? DbD is one of my favorite games, because as a huge horror fan I love seeing it bring together all the different and unique franchises, and mixing them even with it's own stories.
Heck, I'm not the biggest Texas Chainsaw fan, but I enjoy having Bubba in the game. I might also not be as excited for Candyman if he's ever added, but if he is, I'd accept him with open arms.
DbD is like Smash of horror and I think exploring different tropes of horror is an amazing choice. It makes the game special.
Even the whole Trickster outrage made me question this community. I think he's super cool. I love his aesthetic. He's still horror. Maybe not in a twisted monstrous way, but he is. (I do agree that his power was a huge let down tho)

Read what? Springtrap and FnaF is a little kids game, no matter how much you don't want it to be. Majority of people don't want FnaF in this game, yet the same small group of FnaF fan girls keep making threads every week recycling the same topic. If you want to see Springrap, go play your little kids game. We don't want it, or need it in this game.
I played only one FNAF game so I'm not a fan but ######### is this mentality?
FNAF is horror. Plenty of people who aren't "kids" played it. It might not be horror up your alley but it's still horror.
What I find most funny is that people hate the idea of FNAF, but would love a Scooby Doo chapter. Lmao.
-
@Warcrafter4 said:
I know you don't mean Ill but one of the reason people want to keep FNAF out is the fact that at before nearly every single release people always ask and beg for them to be included.
Its just eventually gets on everyone nerves to have these threads pop up constantly every single time a new killer is being speculated about.
People are just sick and tired of people begging for Springtrap to be included.
Imagine being bothered by what other people are thinking. Stay clear from threads like this then. Simple as that.
Don't get me wrong, I know there are a lot of threads about FNAF, but if not that it would be about something else. People want their favorite franchises to be included in the game, they want to speculate, they want to make cool concepts. It'd be like this with or without FNAF.

My stealthy Cheryl build:
Urban Evasion, Iron Will, Diversion, Spine Chill.
Don't worry, I don't crouch across the map. I just love using Urban to break off from chases and throw the pebble. Really fun build.

Nancy gang rise up!
I haven't been playing DbD yet when Strange Things DLC came out, but I've heard the hype for it was huge.
Plus looking at it now, I think that chapter is really well done. Demo is a fun killer to play as AND play against. Also has an amazing chase music. They also did Nancy and Steve justice with their designs. They really look like them.

Massive, maze-like and dark. Very Survivor sided. I don't care if they remade the whole level from the game, I'm saying that they shouldn't have in the first place. It should've been warped by the Entity or something so it's not like this.
I lose the Killer very often because I wear dark cosmetics and every corner is a question for the Killer since I can easily start walking and make no scratch marks. Usually they're just like f-it and leave. Not gonna search the thousands of dark rooms and corners that I could potentially be sitting in.
Girl as a survivor main ... I hate that map as well haha.
It's so hard to find generators plus getting from one side of the map to the other is hell. I get lost all the time, especially when it's on me to go and save someone on the whole other side.

I think you were meant to play them by placing Charlotte and Victor at different points in a loop, and laying out ambushes with them... thing is, their switching is way too slow to dynamically do that, and it's so easily countered by just moving away from the loop that the idea was doomed from conception. Maybe hiding Charlotte a ways behind a contested generator and reactivating her to surprise chase people off of it? But you don't have any way of knowing when people return to that gen. Or the angle survivors take to approach it, which could give away the whole game. They're just really not built for anything that isn't tunneling and slugging.
That might have been a goal with them, but it seems such a different playstyle that I wouldn't think of it first when seeing The Twins.
Maybe something like fast switching between killers will be implemented down the road. I always imagined the Legion like this. Multiple characters. You have full control of one and the others are semi automated (AI). But then you can switch between them.
-
Lmao at people complaining that he isn't a good fit for DbD because they needed to water him down.
I don't think that matters at all. We see that all the characters can be grabbed by the Entity.
I was disappointed with his power tho, that there isn't anything original about it. Give me some new mechanics. Or imagine him having a rocket launcher that he can use even just once during the game ...

He deserves the spot, i think the horror aspect of the game is long lost, we have kpop star, elephant, bunnies etc..
If you think this is the only reason he deserves the spot than that's pretty sad.
I will forever defend different genres of horror and a deranged k-pop star is one of those. Not everything needs to be grotesque, ugly and monsterous. And if you watch plenty of horror and thriller movies you're gonna see that normal looking people can be just as big of a monsters. Heck, actually look at real life documentaries about killers ...
Chucky deserves a spot because he's one of the cult horror icons, not because "horror aspect of the game is long lost".
-
I'm all up for more ways to spend the currency or unlock free awards - so more content in general.
I think basement skins would be amazing.
But I was also thinking of simpler customization items like icons / avatars. Something that you and others could see in the lobby and endgame screen. They could make so many motives like killer pics, lore related stuff, event icons.
Or maybe the addition of banners in the post game screen. So there would be like a signature / banner behind your name, character icon and perks.
