  • I just watched that video and I am outraged a this man tunneling poor survivors, but to be fair it was not Otz so tunneling is understandable

And that’s like saying why is it possible to have 4K with 5 gens left, it happens plenty against solo q survivors. So now which way do you change it...

Well figure out why survs cant do gens, figure why if they do gens they go too fast, and then land somewhere in the middle.

I mean there is the reason why killers pick the ruin or other slow down perks. There is the reason survs hold on to their second chance perks.

You see the problem with a lot of perks is that they were introduced to solve problebs for killers/survs. BT is against tunneling, so is DS.

Killers got perks such as mad grit to deal with body blocking when carying to the hook.

Devs basically want you to deal with game frustrating tactics used by other side by the usage of perks and nothing else

  • Jesus this thread is a mess.

Yes gen rushing is unrealistic as a lot of people are saying. You are not going to be in every match with a deathsquad of survs who will do that.

Point is however is that why should they be able to do it in the first place, and why is game not being balanced around those people playing?

Cause i know i can double pip with the surv while dying in a match, but killer, oh boy good luck with that

  • As a killer i do agree that the iri heads must be reworked. Maybe give an instadown from a large distance, thus rewarding the skilled players. I am sure i am not the frist one to come up with this though.

Trust me, they will cry all the way til Sunday once they nerf keys next mid-chapter, because they can't live their power fantasies. Had a SWF call me a camper, because another survivor was looping me near the shack. like, bruh, should i have left for you to win? I tried staying by an exit gate an entire match so they can win with nothing stopping them, and then the survivors survivors got pissed. WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? Survivors will never be pleased. Won't you please excuse me, ill just enjoy my 1k and leave it at that, or if i'm playing survivor, if i die, ill accept it and move on.

"It's always the killers fault" seems less like an comedic exaggeration, and more like an understatement to how some survivor players legitimately think because they don't like to admit they're wrong. Enjoy the game, or find something to do to make you playing fun. If you don't, play something else, rather than beg the dev team to do something for you because YOU refuse to recognize your mistakes and improve because of it, or play killer and play how you want to play if you want killers to play like you want it to be (don't worry, you'll be told off by them sooner or later)

Surprisingly this happens to quite a high number of killer mains.

    They stop playing killer.

Well there is a good reason for that

  • @Unifall said:

Yes let's change ruin and undying because some guy finds it boring. Seriously tho just destroy totems. Use detectives or small game. Games go way too fast without some type of gen regression. Yes you can 4k with no regression perks but you have to slug, tunnel, stay near the hook just to have a chance. Bad survivors want to the build nerfed but as soon as someone says "what about ds and ub" those same people are quick to defend that combo like their life depends on it.

Well, you are not wrong the survs lifes do depend on it literally

  • Its unpopular opinion, but i just have to say it. Killer is not bound to surv rule book. Killer is allowed to use any strategy to kill survivors. This includes slugging, tunneling and camping. To get a kill, killer can do anything. Killer should not care about your fun if you dont care about his.

Yes we can all be nice and instead of tunnel go for rescuer if the time and situation allows. Sometimes however you just cant allow survs to recover. And that is ok.

Speaking in dev terms, this is a mind game with many strategies. Slugging, tunneling and camping are strategies. Killer does not do it to piss you off. He is playing defensively and trying to get the kills he can.

Yes it is unfun and "TOXIC", but tell you what, killer is no fun to play anyways.

    This

If a player has reached a skill cap in a certain killer and has a show of highlights does not make a killer any better, only shows the strong sides.

Edit: i looked at the past streams and he was only playing surv so i guess here goes "our" legion main.

Edit2: Correction more like 70% surv

  • Damn, now that is a bad killer and i understand the frustration

Lmao why do you rely on ADR, BT, SB, DH and DS? I am so sick of those goddamn perks. Its for survivors who are terrible at this game and they need to rely on those perks. I was playing a match with 4 survs who bring any combination of those.... and i am not going to go on.

I had this deathslinger who chased me the last 4 gens and got me at the end only because of noed, he was playing really poorly but he felt good nodding and facecamping me while my solo q teammates were waiting in the gates instead of looking for the goddamn hex totem and save me. I couldn't even do bones myself, carried my teammates while they did the last 4 gens and the killer gets rewarded anyways.

I mean isn't there something wrong when you can loop killer like deathslinger for 4 gens? And i am not talking about skill level just from an observational POV.

  • @deadbyhitbox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1805215#Comment_1805215

So basically 1 good survivor tells the others to do gens and that magically means the killer can't stop 5 gens from being done without a single kill? If there's 3 bad players, you literally just go for them instead of the good survivor and you usually have a guaranteed 2 or 3 kills.

Well, ever chased a good survivor? See maps are being chosen by survs for most of the time, and they really need to mess up or have no second chance perks with them so killer can pit pressure on them, cause right at the start killer is on the back foot. This is the reason why ruin is meta. You dont have to waste time kicking gens thus saving time to pressure survs.

In an equal game with no mori no key and no BT, DS, Adrenaline(i call it second chance perk but i am fine if its factually not), NOED, Unbreakable and dead hard( to an extent second chance perk) then killer gets around 1 or 2 kills. 4k is ussually caused by uber altruism and perk on killer such as save best for last. And even then killer has to soft camp thus addmiting defeat to a large extent.

thats the thing though im very competetive. not raging over a loss doesnt make you not competetive. calm down for half a second and you'll realize not every game is against a swat team, hence the point of the post. they exist but they are few and far between. If every SWF feels like a swat team then maybe you shouldnt be as high rank as you think you should be.

Being competitive and raging is connected but i rarely rage when i play. Frustration absolutely, that always comes with a loss especially when you understand that you made a mistake. But sometimes scenarios are that you can't win. Someone brought the key and now they all escape. What could you have done, nothing. This why you see people saying as if everyone was swf.

You must assume worst, in order to mentally prepare for it. Also i like to assume everyone is swf cause i know i will give it my best shot. And i would like to balance team work around swf and red ranks. Maybe i should not be as high as i am but then again exploiting their desire to save that one person never failed as a tactic.

  • @InsatiableMop said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1805173#Comment_1805173

Ive been the killer in red ranks, and its always with a killer with 1 perk and no addons because I put my BP into my survs, and yes I've encountered some insane coordination that played me like a fiddle but its not literally every game like people on here act. I just take the beating and move on with my life haha.

Congrats then you are not as competitive as other people then, and i can admire that to an extent but with that attitude i did not stay in red ranks for long due to another issue of pips.

A lot also depends on the killer, I climbed rank 1 just recently with bugged legion, cant say i enjoyed it. But I guess its my fault that i played killer that is bugged and cant use his power properly.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1805146#Comment_1805146

    Are you sure?

Because from what i've seen after like 3 years of playing on red ranks is that the majority of players in high ranks is pretty bad or average at the game.

Very good survivors are pretty rare to see in my experience.

Nice so lets talk facts instead of expirience cause then we will not get anywhere. Moris were anit gen rush, keys are anti mori. Moris are nerfed thus making keys stronger. We will take you evidence and pretend red ranks are filled with average players. Survs are more likely to get on good player on their side as there is 4 of them. And meeting a good killer is harder due to killer being alone

Now that one good survivor says in chat before game. Guys do gens i have a key and we all escape, because you can do that and there is no incentive to not, because one key means all escape. How is this balanced when now killer cant even secure one-two kills. Ok maybe one but that is a stretch especially taking into account statement above.

  • Because as a killer in red ranks i see such a miraculous coordination from survs that i start to wonder which one of them is Bastilla from Swkotor using her force powers.

  • @InsatiableMop said:

Why do killers seem to act like every game they are in is against the sweatiest, tournament level swf on earth? What if there was an indication when people were indeed playing together, then you can unclench your butt cheeks in the other games and everybody can be less salty all the time.

Cause when you get to the top of the competition i.e red ranks you see such a miraculous coordination from survs that one may think they are using the force powers of Bastilla from Swkotor.

Death squads are incredibly rare and don't justify the existence of an overpowered offering.

I would argue that most people used moris not to counter those death squads but solely to stomp average players or else i would not have seen so many first hook mories with 5 or 4 gens.

How do you meet an average player on red ranks, tell me pls. Cause all i face on red ranks is 2 gens poping while i may get 2 hooks, if mindgames work on loops.

How many key + OoO death squads do you face though.

I can count them on one hand...

After several thousand hours of gameplay :]

Wow i can count how many moris you would face less than keys thats for sure and one OoO is enough to make you quit after the game anyways but i am pretty sure i will play surv even if i get moried, so whats your point?

  • Tbh at this point there is just no reason to be mad about another side, because the truth is: if devs dont want to hear you, they would not, just like with Space Coconut on official dbd discord server.

I dont have problems with survs. They use what devs gave them. I have problem with devs balancing policy. Only positive thing i can think of is 10th of december for obvious reason.

  • @MythMage said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1804584#Comment_1804584

Keys WILL get a similar treatment. Besides, mori's shouldn't be powerful. Offerings shouldn't have a huge effect on a match. Perks, items, and addons? Yes. Offerings? Not really. Mori's were too strong and them being useless is fine. As for keys, they are less of a problem, but still a problem nonetheless

How about map offerings, how do we balance them? Cause i sure know that there are 4 survs and each can have a map offering while going against one offering of the killer. In addition how many moris can one have at a specific moment?

Now i dont like moris cause you cant really pip with them to get to higher ranks, but one thing for sure is that right now all i will do is wait for key change because God forbid you get swf with OoO and key who know what they are doing(which they always are on red ranks)

You would think so? Haven't tried it yet. But it probably works like PH mini-mori

I would not raise the hopes up, probably will have to waste time to bring them to hook for the kill.

  • @Sonzaishinai said:

The first mori's worked on down

then it was changed so you could only use it after hooking the survivor atleast once.

Now it's after hooking said survivor twice.

The next change will be after hooking a survivor 3 times

Good one, also interesting thing is if survivor reached level 2 on hook would you be able to mori them.

  • @Mandy said:

These two things are not comparable in the slightest. Skins are designed and scheduled a long time in advance...bugs have to be found, recreated then a fix has to be implemented, it's not always a fast process especially when the bug affects other things. So to say it's a matter of "priorities" is very disingenuous.

Yeah, well current patch released does reinforce my point in a sense that perhaps i should go and play another game you know, civ 5 maybe.

  • TBH as much as i love this game(i got rank 1 as legion in this patch and it did cost me my sanity with all the bugs) this is just ridicolous at this point. They did not even fix all the bugs for legion, hillbilly and leatherface. I am out of the game until key changes. Sorry but I will not take this amount of shade thrown on killers anymore.

  • Well not only did they fix only a portion of the bugs, but genrushing against an ebony mori is more reliable to escape with all 4 people. This is great man, I guess its one killer less in the mm for a long time. Good luck to my fellow killers.

  • @DwightFairfield said:

to be fair, the Krampus skin was going to come out anyways, it was always planned for a Christmas release and the new cosmetic coinciding with the slew of bugs is entirely coincidental

However that doesn't excuse the fact that the skin is 15$

Its not that i dont believe that it is a coincidence its that it could have been avoided if the priorities were set straight

  • @Bravescorpio said:

You do know the people who make the skins, and the people who fix the bugs are different people right? One team doing their job doesn't affect the bug team in any way.

And i do not have anything against people who made skins, just an observation of priorities, you know a half-baked chapter and then monetization of skins.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1794523#Comment_1794523

Yeah, but we shouldn't sometimes be forced to spoil someone else's game just to win.

Whenever I've had to tunnel I always feel pretty bad about it. Plus I expect messages coming my way after the game. Surprisingly doesn't happen that often.

But to me those tactics are only worthwhile in the current time crunch meta. If our matches were more drawn out, then we wouldn't have to resort to them to create pressure. Since we would have ample time to create it without spoiling someone else's match.

Well i would love to hear a proposition that ensures that both killer and survivor can feel safe about the game not going totally wrong for them, so far no response btw.

  • Lets talk about it. I will take the post by Moundshroud and expand on what i think of the game as. Kittens playing with each other, no-one dies there obviously. It is fun for them obviously because they are PLAYING. Nothing wrong with that. Now lets take it up a level. Lion chasing his prey. Lion gets the prey-it dies, he does not-it lives. This is COMPETITION now. A hunt if you will.

Now think of those animals as ranks. Ranks 20 are fun, i cannot lie. But if you are going up the ranks, you are going on a hunt, you are the killer hunting or surv being hunted. You escape or you die. You win or lose, little fun in that and i agree that it causes more frustration as you go up till red ranks where it peaks.

If you want the game to be fun than dont rise up the ranks and use your skills and knowledge to bully low rank killers. But hold on, thats no fun for the killer and i dont support bullying baby killers as that would deplete the player base.

Plus if one side has fun, it is at expence of the other. I myself enjoy pulling a 360 to then fast vault to break the chase. Escape with killer breating down my neck. Be a solo survivor to escape through the hatch. It is fun. And the adrenaline you get irl when in chase and killer barely misses you. It is a blast overall.

But when you play the killer reverse is applied to you. You are in a chase, you see 2 engine popping while all you got is one hit. Around when you get a hook 3rd gen pops. You understand at that moment that all you can get is around 2k. You are not happy, and not having fun. You resort to the strats you know will give you at least one kill. And around that time you bring the NOED into your build.

If we talk about strats then, I will tell you the game intended strat then. Patrol, chase, take down one, hook, repeat TWELVE times. Does this seem realistic in a red rank game. If yes well then i wonder what ranks am i playing with.

Before there were infinites, way bigger amount of pallots and etc. and that has gotten better, but i also remember things such as blinding killer on pick up animation and no matter the timing they will drop the surv. For those reasons alone I do not trust the BHVR team.

See the problem is fundamentally both sides want the win from my perspective playing both sides I can say that game is leaned to survivor side. Time is not on the side of the killer that is why Hex:Ruin is meta perk for killer. It slows down the tempo.

I look at the game from the competitive perspective. Too many times have I seen the t-bags, too many times have I went against flashlight clickers only to outplay them. Do i camp them, no. Neither do i bring a mori, not ireddesnt one anyways.

As Ancestor said:"You cannot learn a thing, you think, you know"

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1794086#Comment_1794086

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of games. The fun of a game is in the PLAYING of it, i.e. the challenge, the conflict, the pitting yourself against something hard and hopefully getting better. Games, from an evolutionary standpoint, evolved to hone the skills a creature will use to survive. That is why kittens play by hunting and pouncing each other, little goats play smashing horns or climbing things, and so on. Are they having fun? Absolutely. They will keep playing whether they win or lose.

Fun isn't provided by ANY game. You have to bring it with you. You get out of games what you put into them. That is a cold, hard truth that takes most people a lifetime to understand. Many don't figure it out until they are so old that they no longer have the capacity to play as many games as the would like. I'm providing you this information with the understanding that you will refuse to listen. I hope to be wrong, because you will profit kingdoms untold if you do. I'm just pragmatic about it; most people considering being taught something by someone else to have lost an argument, rather than having won wisdom.

If you aren't having fun playing this game, find one that is more to your liking. The health of this game indicates that overall, plenty of people are having fun. What is the difference between them and you? They also encounter (everyone does) tunneling, slugging, camping, and the Mori. Why is it when me and my friends play we aren't triggered into endless tirades of self pity. Why aren't we shoveling grief on other people. We sound like a Football game and will even cheer when downed when we see a wicked good play. My suggestion is that we play for love of the game, not for some weird personal fetish or make-believe power.

When you go into a game and understand its parameters and set no false expectations on yourself (or others) you will have more fun. The game is either fun for you or it isn't. If it isn't, why the heck are you still here? I always doubt the veracity of people making these posts because the logic doesn't track. With the thousands upon thousands of games out there, why waste your time playing one you seem not to like? Why waste even more time coming here to bellyache about it? It doesn't make sense, unless I accept that you are one of those people who enjoys bellyaching about things, and use the internet (and Forums like these) to feel potent and imagine you matter. I can't claim to be that different from you. I'm posting here too. I like to flatter myself that my intentions are different. I do play for love of the game, but why do I post here? I don't have to even be aware of your existence to keep enjoying the game. So we share some flaws.

I really want to help you. The game isn't what is wrong. It is you. You are looking at things backwards:

An old tree obscured my view.

It was sick, it was twisted,

Its leaves mottled, an unhealthy hue.

So I waited for it to die,

But it held on, day in and by and by

So I took an ax to its bough

A fallow field did I plow.

Now I stare at an unfettered view.

It is wide, it is empty.

Why does if field older than new?

It wasn't sick, that old tree.

I know that now, it was only me.

    This

Yes I know, other people keep commenting, I'll get to you soon.

As I keep saying, those tactics have their place in the current meta. The main point of the post was to ask why the devs have not addressed the issue of match time ( the short time of which largely contributes to those tactics) , and the issues of those tactics.

Even if match time is addressed there will always be those who use those tactics, even if they don't have to. So there should be base game protection from those unfun tactics.

But that is the whole point of meta perks. They give you the best edge you get against killer/ survivor. That is where fun is lost and the competition takes place. And when you lose you find million things to blame. I would be fine with DS and hell i would be fine with old DS.

The problem is that as a killer I know that those five seconds of stun and then maybe 1 more minute of chase after the ds will cost me 2 if not 3 gens if people know what they are doing and I cannot afford to lose that time.

That is where resentment grows. It also grows when I see devs release a raw patch, with bugs. I strated out playing this game as a suv and i did enjoy it until ranks 8-6 where i started to get slugged and camped. I was too outraged but now i see why it happens. If 3 survivors escape and one dies survivors think it is a loss. Killer thinks the same thing. No-one wins. Toxicity buble bursts. We are arguing on forums.

  • @chieften333 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1794067#Comment_1794067

Yes, it is the killers job to kill, But this is a game. It needs to be fun on both ends.

I'm not complaining about any one side in particular. But perks should not be used to compensate for unfun tactics that should have been addressed years ago.

I also mention that within the current meta the killers have to use those tactics to have a chance against coordinated teams. Yes they are solid tactics but they are used to the detriment of the survivors fun.

Ok well then dont bring DS because you should have been dead on hook and now you are free. When you say its a game btw you must remember that this is competitive game. If it was not than we might as well not hold tournaments and care too much about it in general.

Also as said before if killer does not use those tactics than he might as well stand in one place and let everyone go.

Still waiting for the response btw.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/210833/consideration-on-slugging-and-camping-and-why-bhvr-has-not-addressed-them

You have answered your OWN question. Let me break it down for you. These tactics have been four years ongoing (always indicated as valid). The game has only grown in size and popularity. Rather than bringing down the game, and ruining its fun (as you seem to infer) the game works pretty darn well. People (most people anyway) like a challenge. There are plenty of games out there where you are not playing PvP and they are rigged entirely in your favor. If this one isn't cutting the mustard for you, seek them out.

Why haven't they addressed these things? It is because they are not broken. They are not a problem. The vocal minority that is the never ending whine and moan here is nothing compared to the vast nameless faces whom we will never see post anything here or put anything up on social media. In short, the game is working out fine so far. They take a slow, meditative approach which honors the notion "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." In short, they aren't going to tinker with something that isn't really a problem, and risk creating ACTUAL problems.

I know it sounds cold and all that, but they don't put much stock by the crying off on this Forum. I don't blame them. They have their own metrics they follow, based on statistics and whatever bias the DEV harbor themselves. Our individual experiences aren't on their mind; they are interested in the collective. And let me repeat, this Forum is NOT the collective. That is self delusion. I was tickled to watch the Q&A and see that one of the guys looks exactly like the bald Dwight. It makes me wonder how many of the other cosmetics are actually based on people we don't see behind the scenes over there. Perhaps some of you unhappy types can vent your frustrations killing their avatars over and over.

I'm not trying to trigger anyone with this post. I'm trying to be pragmatic and give some realistic perspective. Tunneling, Slugging, Camping, and the Mori are all part of the game. It wouldn't be an understatement to say that they are integral parts of the game. Changes to them must be very careful and very slow or the whole apple cart gets upended. The DEV understand that better than we do because their interaction with it isn't personal, it isn't colored by having just been tunneled, slugged, camped, and then given a Mori. In short, our own bias and frustration with anecdotal events clouds our judgement. They are tinkering with the goose that laid the golden egg, and cannot risk mistakes.

So, in closing (I've already gone on way too long), I also feel a twinge when I get tunneled. I don't enjoy being slugged for long periods of time (well it is really only a minute or two that FEELS like a long time), nor do I like being camped, and certainly don't want to catch the Mori. However, I will continue to GLADLY endure these things because the game would be more empty and hollow without them. I'm older than most of you. I played Pong when it first came out. I played Death Race 2000 which was basically Pong with a steering wheel where you ran down stick figure people. I was there when Wizard of War made its debut, and ruled the Arcade with PacMan, Donkey Kong, and all the rest. I was there for all the Fighting games, the rise the console, and up until now. Nobody wants to go back to PacMan. Bots that can only loop you in predictable patterns (which you can memorize) are not a challenge. We live in a video game age where we fight/hunt the ultimate game, i.e. sentient, cunning, and sometimes underhanded Players. If you take away their options, you are left with the Ghosts from PacMan.

All i can say is respect.

Ok so, first of all the current bugs need to be addressed because at least three old killers are right now useless: Hillbilly cause chainsaw overheats when breaking a pallot, bubba suffers same fatigue no matter how many charges he used and then my favourite legion running same speed when using his power, really allows you to chain you attack you know on like one survivor.

Second thing addressing the slugging tactic: use unbreakable really helps you know 2 unbreakble per team and you should be fine if you are solo survivor though you have to depend on the team but guess what this was a horror game at some point and in order to survive you have to survive not just breeze trough the game, and sometimes you will die.

Camping is an interesting topic i as killer main do not support it unless you need to get that one kill when exit gates are powered. When the gens are done killer can do what he wants and i do not blame him.

And if you do not like what i wrote because its not fun i have to say to you one thing. If you want to have all the fun as survivor than dont advocate for ballance because i am not having fun when i play the killer that is for sure.

And i forgot the tunneling issue, if you play with friends and brought object of obsession dont complain as you are the key to the victory and the killer knows it and has to deal with it asap, especially if its trapper or hag.

My bad did not see this.

Look dude, I'm sorry but could you please break that up into paragraphs?

I'll make an actual response when that's easier to read.

    There you go.

Either they stop nerfing every survivor ability and stop buffing every killer ability or I'm deleting this game. The devs can stick it as far as I'm concerned.

As a killer main, all I say is good ridance. And please when uninstalling dont tea-bag i've seen it enough times.

  • Oh no survivors are not having fun what will we do, its not like BT exist, medkits that give you endurance, DS exist flashlight saves are a thing, sabotaging a hook requires doing something other than T-bagging. Killer sometimes wants to have fun you know.

Dont get me wrong i appreciate a good survivor when i see one and when they know how to loop, not fall for mind games, etc. It is steep learning curve, but the problem arises when the survivor understands what his/her task is and just rolls with it. And the task is to hold killer for as many gens as possible. This is even bigger problem if you are playing swf.

You know all those tactics of tunnel and camp that you call scummy, when i do that i not only feel helpless as i am unable to do anything other than that, but i also know that if i have the possibility of getting 4k someone will dc because oh no i got them and i am winning. It just kills me inside cause i do love this game but i can hardly enjoy it.

I mean why not address the issue which is the biggest problem at the moment and that is that three killers are currently bugged and suffer because they cant use their power correctly.

But hell did you see those cosmetics hella lit ngl.

It wouldn't drastically rework the overall gameplay loop of the game. But it would require work on their end.

Making DS a base game mechanic that comes with deactivation conditions like healing, repairing, or another survivor being hooked. Make it so if a killer is within a certain radius of the hook for an extended period the timer would pause, thus making sure no value is gained from camping.

Slugging could be addressed indirectly by adding the early game slowdown mechanic. Which we're unsure what the devs have planned, but going off of it's name it would slow the match down in some way. Removing the need to tunnel or slug, camping is more of a pettiness issue than a valid tactic.
