  • Simply make her power work like Oni's.

She gets charges in some way (nomal movespeed, no blink) and when she activates her power, she becomes the nurse we've always known for a set amount of time (slow, but able to blink).

    Simple, isn't it?

  • May I ask why?

I agree although I wouldn't say it is not "Common".

This is quite common in my lobbies unfortunately. Overall trials are way too fast paced in my opinion. I enjoy fun chases. I enjoy the search. Its really boring when the game ends in a matter of minutes.

If it's that common then why are you sharing only one example? Genuinely asking.

How would that help? You activate the power with visuals on the first survivor and everyone else has killer instinct. It wouldnt change anything for me.

Then you wouldn't need to see the first survivor to activate your power (you could be roaming around with it and still be able to track people) and it would make it easier to track good survivors on indoor maps.

Plus, the fact that you can't down during frenzy (without counting 5th hit) makes it a stupid decision to remove your tracking ability. But it's a decision that comes from the dark ages of DBD.

Oh, and the fact that we can still see pools of blood makes this decision even dumber… We're allowed to track injured survivors (more inclined to die) but not healthy ones?

  • Just allowing us to see scratch marks during frenzy would be greatly appreciated.

  • The best way to counter tunneling would be to leave you on the hook for as long as possible, giving time for your teammates to get gens done and wasting the killer's time doing nothing, as they will probably want YOU anyway.

With that said, once you're unhooked, well good luck. You have to start a chase in an area where pallets are mostly gone (because you already looped there before getting hooked) and with only one health state.

Yeah I know, very unfair, insn't it?

  • @OrangeBear said:

It's pretty obvious that there are players who are using software to identify killer players before they ready up. This is really annoying to encounter. When these type of players don't use in game cheats, they're undetectable, because the EAC obviously isn't detecting it on their end and we as players that notice this behaviour have no proof.

This is delaying matchmaking for everyone else and compromising the mystery of matches.

Something should be done about this. Maybe make it so if you dodge 3 lobbies you get a 5m penalty or something.

    Consider removing pre-game lobby entirely.

How can you be so sure that they're dodging the killer and not their survivor mates?

I do dodge when I see players with a low amount of playtime. And it happens quite often. Way too often.

On your first point. Ok so how does anything you stated there counter anything I stated either? Like even if you know or even if I knew people from other religions that celebrate christmas does not make my statement that all don't anyway more of a fact.

On your second there is no correlation you are just some reason either getting matches you yourself classify killer to be sweating or they just happen to be doing so. I would really love to get a cent every time I get called sweating as killer when I played totally normal match. Still I can also then use my own experience today and state I have not really seen much sweating just normal gameplay from killers.

"On your first point. Ok so how does anything you stated there counter anything I stated either? Like even if you know or even if I knew people from other religions that celebrate christmas does not make my statement that all don't anyway more of a fact."

Yes, that's why I said I AGREED with you. I brought nuance to what you said. Perhaps you might be lacking reading comprehension.

"On your second there is no correlation"
If there was no correlation, the rest of the year wouldn't be that different. But alas, it is.

  • @Wezqu said:

or it might be the fact that people don't all celebrate christmas there is other religions and in the end its three days do you really think everyone has something to do on all three days. I for example spent 24th with family sharing the gifts and then the other two days we do what we want. Not everyone celebrate its like you think they do.

Why would they also not play the game seriously its their right to decide how they play that does not correlate anyway of their personal life or if they have family or friends.

Also to note I had bad matches and good ones on both sides did not really differ at all and expecting killers not to play the game is oddly selfish statement.

"people don't all celebrate christmas there is other religions " Agreed, but kinda wrong in 2025 tho. I'm from a Christian/Muslim family while being an atheist myself + I have some jewish friends and everyone celebrates Christmas. It's not so much about religion but more about the period of the year, especially in younger generations (which contains more players than older ones).

"Why would they also not play the game seriously its their right to decide how they play that does not correlate anyway of their personal life or if they have family or friends."

Never said they souldn't play seriously. I'm just pointing out that I haven't had such sweaty games during the entirety of the year.
Wether you think like me or not, I strongly believe there's a huge correlation.

You can't really change Kaneki's power on a fundamental level without completely breaking it. I assume getting locked in place during a tentacle grab is mostly to the game's benefit because allowing the survivor to move around while getting grabbed would create some seriously awkward interactions at the best of times and things just straight up not working properly at it's worst. As for the hitscan BHVR have gone on to say that it needs to be like as they've tested the tentacles being projectiles and it just doesn't work and I'm inclined to agree on since I'd imagine trying to play Kaneki as a projectile-based killer would be the same as playing as Deathslinger on rocket powered ice skates. It would be an extremely frustrating experience. Unfortunately in terms of balance, the most you can do is number tweaks and slight alterations to his power, anything more than that is just straight up breaking his knees.

But you already can move around while getting grabbed, with the exact same animation.

When he uses his power on a survivor to vault a pallet/window, the same animation is played for the survivor but they can still move, even if heavily slowed down.

  • Oh but a lot of people have been talking about this since… forever?

    They just don't care.

"It would be frustrating for the killer player!" So instead, they make it frustrating for 4/5 players. Make it make sense.

  • I believe just improving how the MMR system works might remove the need for a second queue.

Because matching players with thousands of hours against/with players in the hundreds…

Multiple times I've seen Otz getting matched against +200 hours players. This is nonsense.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/461525/why-kaneki-is-poorly-designed

Its more of an animation problem. If the animation made it so it was clear that like, one of the tentacle things was physically grabbing the survivor, or lifting them up in the air, or some other thing, it wouldn't be as jarring.

Yeah, it definitely would feel less clunky, but probably still as awful/uninteractive.

Again, when facing Wesker, you have some sort of agency over his power, as it is skill based. You can kinda influence the direction you'll get thrown to based on your positioning. So, even if you lose control over your char, it doesn't feel as awful.
We could even say the same for Trapper, you can avoid traps.

Against Kaneki… if he has LoS on you… well, enjoy your stun (and your free injure - but that's unrelated to the "feels").

  • Happened to my friend. She got tunneled at 5 gens, and I purposefully gave myself up to the killer. Guess who lost a grade.

    What about the UI?.

    Console players are the best players, and they're always smart;

    🐶

You must be one of those who say "crosshair in DbD is cheating"

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/XHTFGZ0OML8W/6778.png

My pc probably costs more than you could sell your car for, but sure.

We can clearly see the distinction between the first picture's UI and the second's.

Maybe you're just bad with ReShade settings, I could make a short tutorial for you. Levels and Curves are kinda hard to tweak for newbies.

  • @HeroLives It's edited. Look at the UI on the left side of the screen.

  • @Reinami said:

The first chase of the match basically dictates how that match will go. If a survivor can last until 2 gens are done, then the survivors are probably going to win. If the survivor does poorly and goes down too quickly, the game is basically over at that point for the survivors, because coming back with no gens done and only 1 person able to do gens (1 on hook, 1 in chase, 1 going for the save) is extremely difficult unless you are an organized SWF.

While it is possible to come back from it in either case, the point is that, the result of the first chase basically makes the game a massive uphill battle for the side that does badly in it. This is why survivors "go next" so often, and why the game feels so stressful as killer. Why bother playing out a match, when someone went down in 10 seconds and no progress has been made on gens? Why bother playing out a match, when the first chase the survivor guesses right a couple of times and mindgames a couple of pallets successfully and 3 gens pop right as you get your down?

Something should be done to smooth out the state of the game so its not just all instant snowball at the sign of one thing going wrong for one side or the other.

Mmmmh… Against not-so-good survivors, I'd say this is true. But against a competent team, people are efficient, and going down too quickly doesn't mean it's the end of the game. You can easily use the 70s hook timer to finish at least 1-2 gens.

  • @Senaxu said:

One alternative to ragequitting or forced hook suicides could be a personal killer opt-out system integrated into matchmaking. Each player could be allowed to exclude one specific killer from their matchmaking pool… the one they personally struggle with the most, whether it's due to mechanics, frustration, or just playstyle incompatibility.

This would give survivors a constructive outlet rather than disengaging entirely. It also respects individual boundaries without overhauling balance. To prevent abuse in SWF, the opt-out could be limited to just one collective exclusion per group, ensuring it remains fair and doesn’t overly fragment matchmaking.

It won’t solve everything, but it would reduce burnout and give players back a sense of agency… especially during events or meta shifts where one killer becomes disproportionately dominant.

This please. I hate versing the Knight so much. I find 0 fun in running away from a literal NPC. I would greatly appreciate that.

That is kind of wrong. Some kill rates are way too high, and I can almost guarantee you that some are way too low.

  • @WalanAke said:

Either that, or let killer see when a gen has Blastmine on it. Why are survivors able to tell when something was put on a gen but not the killer? Blastmine legit puts a flashbang with some smoke coming out of it on top of the gen, but only the survivors get to see it. Why? It's right f###### there! Just let us ALL see it!

Meanwhile Machine Learning and Help Wanted have that "Special" effect that twirls around the gen when it's kicked, telling the survivor "Hey, be careful finishing this, don't want you poor innocent wittle angels to have a hard time."

Blastmine puts a tiny flashbang on top of the gen. You can see it if you look closely.

    uluhx0ozikt71.png
  • I swear fixing this + MMR would greatly increase the escape rate.

  • I believe they just have stats we don't have access to and see things we don't.

I have no clue what world you live in if you think that's a survivor sided map. If it was so survivor sided…then why does everyone run to main for that one pallet that is moderately decent? There no sense of safety anywhere on that maps except for the occasional long wall. I'd be more inclined to believe you if the game would just give good rng and show me how strong the map is.

Calls one of the strongest pallets in the game "MODERATELY DECENT".

Oh my god… I understand the low escape rates.

  • @FirstDay said:

My best bet is it probably had something to do with two things.

    1. You're playing a killer that quite frankly is a low budget huntress and is quite frankly nothing special to go against.
    2. The map that that player went next on is absolutely TERRIBLE. It's dead zone galore and the lamest loops as most new maps are starting to have. That's just my thoughts though.

Nostromo terrible? Man, you need to learn how to loop because there are so many useful pallets… + the ice traps. It's really more survivor sided than it is killer sided.

  • So you can down someone, slug them, apply pressure somewhere, pick them up, bring them halfway across the map, slug them AGAIN, apply pressure somewhere else AGAIN, then come back and traverse the last half of the map with them?

    Yeah, no.

No I've played much more Survivors before actually buying and playing him, and I've definitely used that footsteps to mindgame him, and it works pretty well.

Then I need whichever headset you're using because we're not playing the same game.

Whether I'm playing surv/killer, I find it impossible to pinpoint people's locations if there are walls. Primarily because DBD is a spaghetti-coded game.

  • Due to how sound occlusion works in dead by daylight, this is just wrong. It's really not easy to pinpoint a location based on footsteps. Based on terror radius? Now that's more plausible, but doable with any non-stealth-chase killer.

But I believe they might just see your big ears above the wall. Springtrap is REALLY huge.

The problem is medkits are still by far the strongest item in the game, and this purely serves as a buff for them. The idea behind the downside is to incentivize other item use, and with the key and map buffs coming that would be an interesting idea. You make it sound like the magic VPN box just picks a country at random. Why would you pick Marseille when logging in one day, then keep picking random countries everytime after?

Mmmmmh… no? If you read correctly, you can see that I took the example of France (the location) switching randomly from different cities in this country. Because that's how most VPNs work. The most expensive ones let you choose major cities in a country, but that's it. And again, only one mistake is enough to catch an abuser.

Your expecting alot from BHVR on this one. You want them to log each account's IP addresses (something that tends to change in residential addresses) determine the location of each IP address and have an automated system to think logically about who to ban.

Why do you think a VPN user would pick different locations anyway? Why would they use a VPN to pretend to be in London, then stop using that VPN to show LA instead? Wouldn't it make sense for the VPN user who is trying to cheat to keep the same location they've been using?

They already log IPs. Like almost any online thing (websites, games, apps, etc…).
The system doesn't have to be automated, just like they do with other cheats. They can review things manually if someone gets reported a bit too much.

Changing location (country) doesn't mean that you can't flag them. If I'm in Paris and all of a sudden I'm in Marseille… weird. Even tho my location would be the same on the VPN (France). And a VPN with static IP costs more than dynamic ones.

  • Nevermind, got an idea. We could allow 2-3 country changes every 30 days. This would help avoid flagging legit users but still let us ban people using Dynamic IPs via their VPN.

  • @Mr_K said:

If they always connect using a VPN then what do you do? What if they are a foreign student traveling between two counties? Do you want BHVR to track and log every bit of their player's location? That could become an issue for some countries with privacy laws.

If they always use a VPN, as I stated earlier, then no luck. Just with like every other cheat, there are workarounds.

For the student traveling from different countries, IPs would likely still be the same.

Now this brings another problem: people playing the game on mobile devices while on vacation. Not sure how to address that.

  • @LordGlint said:

That would catch anyone who plays in multiple locations. With the game being on laptops, steam decks, switch or what I like to use sometimes... A Playstation portal, its not uncommon for people to play at locations other than home.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/7IMWP3ZFB1VD/1000001775.jpg

I know alot of truck drivers will often set up TVs and consoles in the back of their rigs to gameout before bed on the road.

Not really. A truck driver, for example, will see his location move a tiny bit with time. A VPNing person will jump from a country to another. If they stayed in the same country or one too close from theirs, they would get no latency advantage.

  • @Mr_K said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3949414#Comment_3949414

You're missing the point of a VPN. With a VPN you won't know the persons real IP to determine that.

It's not about knowing the personal IP.… It's about knowing USED IPs. Just like I said about 2 times in this thread.

    Please, read before commenting.

  • @Mr_K said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3949399#Comment_3949399

I'm saying latency is not a 100% indicator. The match making system could be at fault as in my example. People think just because they have players with high latency is because they are using a VPN.

Also on VPN in general. Not all uses of VPNs are malicious. Most popular streamers use a VPN to prevent cyber stalkers. They just connect to the local region where the latency is still low.

That is why we should monitor used IPs and their location, not just latency.

If you're in London and using a VPN based in London just to avoid your IP leaking, I see no problem. But VPNing from London to L.A.? Different.

great, what if they get sent to the wrong server? what if they have VPN permanently on? how much faith do you have their spaghetti doesnt tweak and ban someone for something they didnt do and couldnt even prove they never did?

best they can do is change how the game treats too high ping killer (it kinda does that already by validating hits, but it doesnt seem to do that enough with too high ping difference) and while they're at it fix the netcode overall.

they get sent to the wrong server: Wouldn't affect IP addresses at all.

VPN permanently on: Unfortunately, just like any other kind of cheat, you can't stop people from finding ways around. The thing is that even if 1 abuser out of a million gets banned, it's a win. And a mistake is easily made. Launching the game just once without the VPN on could result in a ban.

how much faith do you have their spaghetti doesnt tweak and ban someone for something they didnt do and couldnt even prove they never did? : As it is a really easy thing to implement (I could do it if they paid me to), I believe they can manage to get it right.

best they can do is change how the game treats too high ping killer: This would require A LOT more work than you imagine. It's really not the "best" thing they could do as it is complicated and, as you said, spaghetti.

Nobody cares about MMR. It's an invisible number. Tying MMR to hooks won't change anything. People care about winning. They care about earning BP. And they care about not getting bagged at the gates. That's what they care about.

If they don't care about MMR but they care about winning then just change the win condition to something like 7 hooks. Fixed.

And about tea-baggin, you can't solve it. Just like killers humping. These people are inherently toxic and nothing could stop them from being that way. It's their character.

  • Incentivize hooks over kills and base the MMR system on hook numbers.
A "hook penalty" for hooking the same person twice in a row with no one else hooked yet could work. Add a repair progress speed bonus for other survivors for example.

I also strongly believe that gen time should be dependent on killers. Nurse = faster gens, Trapper = longer gens. This would probably help too, to a certain extent.

That's part of it, though. Like I said, survivor is the role that things "happen to," instead of the role that "makes things happen." Again, if you want a proactive role where you're always acting, then try out killer. It's a lot of fun.

Sure, you're supposed to be the victim. But both roles make things happen to the other side. That's why people are complaining about bully SWFs. But a player shouldn't be able to force you into spectate mode for most of the game just because it's the "easier way to win".

If you go back a bit on this thread, you'll see that I'm a Legion main with +70% KR…

Survivors could refuse to do the following, out of fairness for killers:

    1. No flashlight or flashbang saves
    2. No pallet saves
    3. No hook sabotages
    4. No bodyblocking the killer
    5. No using voice comms, specifically for extra game advantages
    6. No excessive hiding from the killer

And this isn't a list of things "I" find unfair. It's a list of things the killer role in general can find unfair. I personally don't care what strategies people do, but if people want to make a big deal out of "playing fair", then they might as well have lists of restrictions for both sides of the game.

This is not playing fair anymore. THIS is the sabotaging you were talking about.
But let's break it down point by point:

    1. No flashlight or flashbang saves
    2. No pallet saves
    3. No hook sabotages
    4. No bodyblocking the killer
    5. No using voice comms, specifically for extra game advantages
    6. No excessive hiding from the killer

    1. Really a skill issue. And if you still struggle, you can slap a lightborn in your loadout. Survivors trying to save are survs not doing gens and most of the time, they even give you a free hit if you bait them out.
    2. Same.
    3. This one does feel unfair, I do agree. Fortunately, toolboxes have charges and most people aren't running full sabo+built to last builds. But those who do? They are a problem. Just like tunnelers.
    4. That's a mechanic, you're comparing it to a "strategy". And killers can bodyblock too so… meh.
    5. Voice comms are unfair too, I agree. SoloQ should have a ping/voice system to allow balancing the game out but… BHVR amirite?
    6. Annoying, but not unfair in any way.

  • @TimberGoingDown said:

Wait, are survivors complaining about being on hook now? Are we not even allowed to hook anymore?

That's just… part of the game. Survivor has long periods of down time, whether that means working a gen, getting slugged for pressure, or getting hooked. That's part and parcel. If you want to always be doing something and have the ability to always see a match out to its conclusion, then there's a role that will let you do that.

No, survivors are complaining because some get tunneled and spend MOST of the game on hook, which is just uninteractive. Dbd's already full of "watching bars getting filled" hence why a lot of survs ignore gens. But if you tunnel someone? They get to experience even less gameplay.

So no, people do not complain that they get hooked. They complain that they get targeted and spend MOST of their game in spectate mode. Nuance.

I just want people to stop having a double standard.

If someone thinks it's important for killers to play in a way that is fun for survivors, but doesn't think it's important for survivors to play in a way that is fun for killers… that is a double standard.

Whenever someone announces the fact that they play killer in a way that is fair for survivors, I also want them to announce they play survivors in a way that is fair for killers.

Please, define a "fair" way to play survivor. Because I really can not grasp this concept. If you mean not tea-bagging, not spamming Head-On/flashbangs and blablabla, then sure, survivors should not get into a game with the sole intention of bullying the killer. But realistically, these are a tiny portion of games played, and most of the time, they're free wins because the survs aren't even touching gens.
Whereas a not so nice way to play killer doesn't give a free win to survs. Quite the opposite.

You only have to spectate if you're running a swf. If that's the case, then that is literally the cost of running a swf. You get basically every info perk in the game for free, but sometimes you have to sit and watch your buddies finish out a match.

No, when on hook, you do "spectate" the game.

Unless you are going to claim that you think player satisfaction is important for both sides of the game, I'm going to continue assuming you think it's only important for survivors.

Yes, it is. And I would like you to point to the comment where I said it was only important for one side. People lack what we call "NUANCE" and think things are either black or white. Guess what? I play both roles! I'll defend what needs to be defended on either side.
